What has passed, has fled; what you hope is missing. But the present is yours. The present moment, a treasure of life!

GRATITUDE

Well here I sit in a one room shack,
So small folks think it's the "house out back".
Low on food and deep in debt,
But I ain't gettin' worried yet,
There's still some baloney, so thank you Lord.

Now thing's will get better in days to come,
Cause I got faith, and that's more than some.
I ain't stuck outside in the freezin' rain,
And if I feel a little poorly, I can rub out the pain,
I got Ben-Gay, so thank you Lord.

Yes I know you're watching me from above.
You gave me your hand when I needed love.
You lifted me up and helped me find,
Sobriety and peace of mind,
You blessed me, You know that Lord?

Well I guess I'll close and get off your line,
I've spoke about everything on my mind.
There's other folks waitin' here below,
To speak their piece, but before I go,
Just know I'm grateful...Thank You Lord!

COME WITH ME

Come with me to share
a cool and bright garden spring,
to smell the sweet honeysuckle,
and to hear the song birds sing.

Come with me to share
the warmth of the noonday sun,
and to feel the gentle breezes
before the night has begun

Come with me to share
the setting sun from afar,
as the moon yawns and awakens,
and night brings twinkling stars.

Come with me to share
all of nature's awesome gifts.
Take my hand in loving friendship,
as we share heavenly bliss.

Thank you, BUBBLE for our nice new folder for this month.  I loved  everything you shared for us to enjoy.

I am late to post and we have a nice new folder for April, I think I will post this a couple of hours early.

APRIL FOOLS DAY is cancelled this year due to the fact that nothing could possibly top the horror of what we are all dealing with right now!

Sad to say, things seem to be no where near to slowing down according to what we hear today.  So sad to think we will not have the Easter that we all enjoy so much.  No church services....how sad.

We cancelled our flight to go to Phoenix the end of this week for my Dad's Birthday on the 9th. We knew we probably would have to cancel but we hung in there as long as we could with hope for a change, but the writing is on the wall.  😢😢😩

The golf course was open again today so I spent quite a bit of time trying to get someone with authority to hear our plea to get this place shut down😤😡

PHYLLIS, I have never made Soda Bread, but i love it and might just try to make one.  We bought one for our St. Patrick's Day meal and discovered it was lemon / blueberry soda bread......YIKES!  Well, it was delicious and I hope we can find one with those ingredients again.

Pleasant dreams to all.  Prays for all of you.

gOOD MORNING EVERYONE. Oops sorry for the caps.  I read the posts and
BUBBLE  enjoyed todays goodies and graphics you posted, thank you.

I woke with a film over my right eye and hard to see aything. I have been holding a warm wet facecloth over the eye. My eye doctor told me when this happened before it is nothing to worry about. Just so‪me jell like substance in eyes that break off at times.  Maybe if I go back to bed and get some sleep I will wake with it cleared up?

SHIRLEY  every day on the news it seems there are more cases of the virus here and so far 3 deaths. People in their 90's. My CNA still comes and I am so thankfuil.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Happy April Fools Day.... my only memorable one was when my daughter put sugar in the salt shaker and ruined everyone's scrambled eggs! A disaster back in those days, not only lack of more eggs but fact no time to scramble more to get them off to school and their father off to work on time! Still, to remember 55+ years later, had to be one special joke!  ;)

Tiger slept with me last night so not a sound sleep. Tom wanted out and Callie in the family room on the couch. Mild weather so Tom thinks he is safe when dark. Crazy cat. I am pretty sure he hangs out with the black cat that came strolling out of the garage yesterday when I was working in the RV. It didn't run, actually looked insulted when I spoke kinda mean to it. I do not need another cat, that's for sure.

Gloria, good that your doctor is okay with the eye problem.... I'm hoping I can get back in to see mine before time to "hit the highway". I am thrilled to know the cataracts aren't as bad as "they" told me (including her).... and hope she knows what to do to fix the glasses. When I look through them one eye at a time, each eye is clearer than I've been able to see for years.... but totally messed up with both eyes open. I've tried over & over to adjust to them but it only gets worse. Glad your CNA is able to still come, people are pretty much locked out around here. One lady (friend of a friend) is dying, in apartment she shares with a daughter & hospice, other daughter not allowed inside since a retirement complex. Daughter on the outside got her out of there and took her to her own home. Have not heard how that went with Hospice. Sure scary times.

Jenny, so sorry you can't be with your father on his birthday, but I'll bet y'all think of a special way to cheer him up. Does he do facetime?  My daughter set me up but I do not like my face showing up close like that. They are all keeping up with their grands that way so if they can explain how I can see & not be seen, I'll join in.  :uglystupid2:  I just had e-mail from either Salida or Buena Vista with a "hope we can invite you back later".... message. Towns must all be in lock down now. Tell your father I am sending Best Wishes for a very Happy Birthday.

Love the graphics and wise sayings, Bubble, thank you. My daughter was one that sucked her thumb until we put the icky stuff on it so she switched to fingers, so we tried tape... Thanks for the new space, great job.

So Nancy isn't in the mood to be teased this morning, Lloyd. Behave yourself! I have a feeling a lot of people are getting tired of being stuck at home so much. Maybe just a drive around to see all the blooming trees. Sure felt good when I got out yesterday. I am thinking about just driving around today. Are the dogwood blooming? My redbud it full of color but not completely open.

I'm sure Amy will be up when I post... my tummy is growling so better get moving. Good Morning to ALL.... :eat:  :cup:

Good morning everyone.
What a lovely morning..birds are singing and sun is shining.
Have a parcel to mail then home to clean house and make some biscuits and just maybe throw in a soda bread with all this talk. I did post a recipe here for a soda bread.

Bubble, thank you for the new start page..love the poems and graphics. I would imagine it will be a quiet Easter around the world this year.

Gloria, hope your eye is better...warm cloth is so soothing .

Lloyd, hope you and Nancy find peace..life is too short to have ruffled feathers.

Jenny, can you skype with your Dad?

Jane, each day is a healing day...

Shirley, I am up..dogs feed and outside. The doves eggs have hatched ,would dearly love to get a closer look but don't want to scare her away!

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe!!

Lloyd, Amy beat me to it with a link in her post above to a recipe for Soda Bread.  It's good bread, ask Nancy to try it.  Different from yeast bread but very tasty and makes good toast.

Cloudy and cool here today and we'll be doing a little scratching around the nest and that is about all.  I would like to hear some more about Mary Ann.  Thinking about her and about you, Jane.  I hope you are dealing with the pain a little better.  I'm so glad your kids can come help you with your fur-baby.

angelface555 unless it is just cracked wheat, when it is ground fine it is all white. and you can do that with out bleaching it. if you have a farmer close by that has wheat that has not been treated, get a small amount like a quart or so and grind it in your blender. you can grind it fine or just crack it your self fresh for best taste. make you get clean wheat with out any weavel. you do not want meat in your gravy except sausage or hamburger. Have a great day.

Happy April Oneth!

Gorgeous weather in central Oklahoma.  Severe stuff is still east of us but I know it will be moving west during the next two months.

I drove to the bank yesterday to make a deposit.  First time I'd been outside the complex gates in almost two weeks.  It was nice to see real people doing normal things.

Gloria, I also have the film occasionally.  Eye doctor told me to wet a washcloth and add a drop of baby shampoo to one corner.  Then, as he put it, "gently scrub scrub scrub" and then rinse with the rest of the damp washcloth.  It works - and doesn't sting a bit!
I remembered the old excuse for getting out of an invitation we didn't want to accept was "Oh, I'm sorry.  I have to shampoo my hair".  Had to giggle a bit at the idea of changing that to, "I have to shampoo my eyes". :crazy2:

I might be able to sit on the patio and read today - if the wind doesn't bother my allergies.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Happy April Fools Day!

Everything is the same here....
The farther  that I go is down to the
curb to meet and greet Kelly as
she is bringing me some grocery's...

Everyone is keeping their distance,
as needed, with the streets very quiet
out side my window to the world
(usually bustling)...

I hope that everyone is feeling  well...

Still OK here - it is so nice to "see" these postings.

I tried and Don tried to place a message to my doctor. It was impossible with so many extra steps - so she called and I got the information needed.  Some crazy tech person puts so many roadblocks into the sign-on for the office that they told me a lot of people were complaining.  Well, why keep paying someone to muck up the system?

It is hard to believe April is already here.  We had a beautiful snow covering not too many days ago.  Now, people are out walking their dogs, etc.  School is closed, of course, but the middle and high school kids still are out playing and racing around.

Highways are not as crowded and the air is cleaner (like years ago). One speedster was clocked at
128 mph - I hope he sits in jail for that stunt.

If I could find the person who takes all the toilet paper, --- Piggy Person!.

Good morning everyone, cold rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow, Mother Nature is starting April with more than showers this year.  I have not been out of the house since last week and miss getting some socializing with other tennants. So glad my CNA can get here still. Seems odd wen I watch local news to see most of the staff working from home and in he studio the few stand so far apart. RI had 77 new cases overnight and 2 more deaths, makes 10 in this state so far.

LLOYD  when I got off S&F yesterday I used the warm wet face cloth on my eye again and then laid on the couch with the TV on and just llistened to it. Fell asleep and when I woke my eye was much clearer again. Today back to nomal.

SHIRLEY  so far they have not stopped people from coming in this building. Most that co‌me in are family members or CNAs. I know I would be lost without Yvette, I tell her she has spoiled me.

AMY  the last time this happened with my eye I called my eye doctor and he told me to use the warm wet facecloth and gently massage the eyelid with it. Did that a couple of times and then had a nap, much better when I woke but this morning back to normal.

Just heard on the news that some hotels are taking in the homeless to quarenteen them. Hotels are about empty so a good way to help the homeless.

PHYLLIS  with the CNA I have I am not worried about running out of anything. I have enough food for a month at least. Tuuesday she was at a store and they had TP but let them have 2 large packs and 2 small ones. With her family she gave them the large o and bropu ght me a small 4 pack. I have said before she loves shopping and is a Coupon Queen.

CALLIE  never heard of using the baby shampoo like that. Of course I have none of that since my 3 were babies. The manager here thought she was so smart removing all the chairs and couches so no one could sit and talk I  saw several ladies on the porch the other day sitting on their rollators and spread the 6 feet apart. Of course the manager was not here that day.

JANE  as long as we see a few words from you every day we and content to know you are OK. I do remember when I had to learn to type with left hand and use the mouse, no fun.

CAROL  don't think we had more than  inches snow all winter this year and I sure missed it. Like you said to me  those who buy every thing is sight are piggy and not just the TP. Most big markets here have an hour in the morning for just for those 60 and over.  My younger son went yesterday at that time and said there was not much on the shelves. he is 67 so qualified for the 60 years.

Last night I heard a trailer truck in Texas was in an accident and every thing in the tralier burned, driver OK but the content in the trailer was  TP.

AMY  for a change I am seeing today greeting. Slept later this morning instead of 3 am.

Have a good day and stay safe.

It is a beautiful sunny morning and that will help the spirits.  David will pick up a grocery order today but there are a lot of items that I wanted that are unavailable.  I'll just have to get a little more creative, I guess.  But, the local news is beginning to talk about "food shortages" and "collapsing supply lines" and that is worrying people.

I ran out of steam yesterday so didn't make Soda Bread, after all, but did make biscuits for dinner last night.  We both really enjoyed them so will do that again as a substitute for bread.  (Still no yeast to be had and flour is in short supply, too.)  I had thought to make bean soup today but no beans so will substitute potatoes, maybe, to go with the left-over biscuits.  Also, I pulled out my old recipe for homemade crackers and I can make some of those, too.  Lots of possibilities.

Amongst all the bad news and anxiety I find myself standing at the window and just marveling at the beautiful blue sky (when the clouds break apart for awhile).  Here on our highly populated and congested East Coast we have so much traffic, so, we always have air pollution.  Now that activity has been so drastically reduced the air is clearing and the blue sky is amazing.  It is what I used to see when I was young and lived in a small town in Kansas and there was all of this beautiful blue sky with fluffy white clouds that I took for granted.  I can't stop looking at it.  I detest this terrible virus that is killing people but I do wish we could have that beautiful blue sky back permanently.

Sounds like you are making the best of things, Jane.  I hope each day is an improvement and less painful.

Take care, All.

Good Morning,

I know we need to keep informed but I've decided The Media (and most everyone else) needs to Change The Subject.

Life around my house continues almost the same as it does when I don't have anywhere I need to be.

I'm doing the Daily Challenge and the 3 Daily Goals on 4 Solitaire games (on Tablet) and e-books I had on Hold keep appearing in my Loan list almost faster than I can read them.  Birds still need feeding - and, so far, I have plenty of bird seed.
I put three nice-sized chicken breasts in the slow cooker this morning.  Will decide what to do with them  later.
Had also made up a pound of hamburger into meatballs and baked them.  Can reheat some in BBQ sauce or brown gravy mix or sweet/sour sauce or.....

Was interrupted by two phone calls from Bridge friends who are missing our get-togethers.  Just noticed that it's now after noon and lunch time.

Hope Everyfriend is finding something to Enjoy today.

I know I have not posted in a couple days, but all is going well.   Just been busy with phone calls, getting new meds straightened out and resting in between.  Yesterday was a nurse visit and an OT visit.  The OT asked me how I was doing several things....getting in and out of the shower,  how I get to the laundry room, how I get into the fridge and decided that I did not need any more OT.  So, that is one less person coming in. The PT will be here tomorrow.

They have finally locked out visitors from our building.  Will have to meet whoever brings anything for us at the door.  Luckily. I have my walker to carry things on.  I sure will have to be extra careful going down to the door.  They are only allowing 2 people on the elevator at a time and keeping a distance if you meet up with anyone.  I have food, but did tell my DIL that if she goes to the store, to bring me a rotisserie chicken. That will last a few days and also a pizza that I can bake.  That will be good for lunches.

I will check back in a few days.

Bubble, thank you for our new page.  Loved the graphics.  So sad that churches will be closed.  I am sure there will be a lot of  sunrise services, with big spaces between the people.   Easter services are always so special for so many people.  I am sure when all this mess is overwith there will be some BIG celebration parties.

Have a great evening.

Joy

Don I have had similar as to that,Lucky Nancy's thought and memory is better than mine. bad news here, our youngest son's wife's mother, already has to take daliases three times a week. and while in the hospital with that she contracted the corona virus, she is full blood Navajo  Indian. so it dose not care what blood line you have it just's jumps on board. cloudy here and 73º. supper has been called so see you all later.

Don, I am one that gets lost just coming out of the grocery store. I have no sense of direction so go out of my way to keep track of ME! I have had it happen so many times I don't get embarrassed, just call someone and explain what I see and usually have GPS or two of them so I can tell which direction I'm going if cloudy. It is scary, but in spite of that part, I've always said that "I get to see the prettiest scenery when I get me lost".... Now and then I've been so turned around & if getting dark, I panic. What used to upset me most was getting lost in those hospital halls with all their added on buildings. I spent a lot of time in the different hospitals when my husband was alive, never sure why they preferred the different ones (3 large ones in Wichita & lots more smaller ones). Hope you didn't get too tired.

Joy, sounds like you are getting control and losing control... I know it is necessary to keep people away, but sure gets complicated, doesn't it?  I carry a baggy with Clorox wipes all the time, to wipe my hands or anything I touch. Glad you are home and doing so well.

Lloyd, sorry to hear about your son's mother-in-law. Hard for anyone to need dialysis but much worse with conditions today. I walked down to the river late this afternoon, felt like shirt sleeve weather as I walked out the door but already had a jacket on so left it on. By the time I got down the hill the wind came on strong and was ICY cold. Must have dropped 20 degrees or more in an instant. It was almost 70 when I went out and down to 39 now with "feels like 33", warning to bring flower pots in. That was a quick spring, hope it doesn't freeze all the fruit trees.

Did want to mention that Jack that used to post in Photos (had the Golden dogs) told me a few years ago that his eye doctor told him to wash his eye lids with Johnson's baby shampoo, was having trouble with mine. Got some & worked like magic! Had it in the RV last time, but have not had to use it again.

Got to get busy, cats begging to come back inside & I never finished eating supper! Been one of those days and now I am ready for bed.

Sweet dreams and God Bless. Shirley

Thursday night HELLO.

Much cooler here today and now we have snow.....thankfully it will start to warm up tomorrow and we will have some nice days for a bit.

DON, how frightening to be disoriented and feeling scared to not know where you are to go. Happy it turned out well.  Just take care....you know these things happen😘. Did I miss where you told how your little radio show went for your building?  I bet they enjoyed it very much.  I sure do miss it and ever so often on a Sunday I will mention to Bob how much I miss it.

Nothing to report from here, so I will say good night.

Sleep well and stay safe.

Good morning on this rainy Friday. Started yesterday afternon and wil not end till tomorrow morning according to the forecast. Maybe I should start singing the old Al Jolson song-When April Showers?

JANE  sorry about your shoulder but would be worse if it was your right one. I'm not making light of the break and the pain. Did they give you anything for the pain?

CALLIE  since I seldom go anywhere anymore I do miss the socializing downstairs and today is not a day to go out and walk around the parking lot. Cannot go into the library downstairs so cannot get some books to read.  I still have some on the Kindall but I still rather hold a book‌ my hands.

DON  you must have been frightened when you realize you were lost. So glad you got home OK.

JOY  good to ee your post. Glad you are doing so well and can drop the OT, one less to oher you. This building is not on lock down yet. If the witch stopped the cna's out several people in this building would put  up a fight I think. When they come in now they have  to wear gloves and a mask.

LLOYD  so sad about your son's mother in law getting the virus, bad enough with dialysis. Prayers for her.

SHIRLEY  we had a cold wind here yesterday. My younger son is laid off and came  so when he left  I went out with him and glad I dressed in layers with my warm vest nder my winter jacket, even put my hat on. Who could forget Jack and his 2 Goldens and the park wher he took so many beautiful pictures.

JENNY  wow is your little grandson growing fast. He sure is a cutie with that blond hair.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..
I am so glad that laundry was done and hung out yesterday as today and Sat may get rain. The wind blew the sheets dry in no time, glad they were pegged good.

Today is take garbage to the dump along with broken limbs from the pine tree and doggie land mines. Most get picked up but when it snow some get buried in snow .Snow is going...have some still in the back yard and more where I blew it with the snow blower. Hmmm Mr Snow Blower can be put away today.

Joy, so good to see your post. I think safety will be first and foremost on your mind around your home. Nothing nicer than being home and in your own bed.

Jane, happy to read you did get some sleep. Makes a day long when one is restless at night. Can you catch some zzz's on the couch?

Gloria, I think we are all itching to just sit out and enjoy the good weather. I noticed Kyle had brought a lawn chair out and put it on the deck but he didn't sit long. Too cold still.

Shirley, another thing we have in common. I too have no sense of direction. Can get lost so easy.

Jenny, I am with Gloria, what a cutie Jonah is and oh my he is growing up quick! Prayers for Michele and her treatments.

Lloyd, sorry to read about your son's mother in law. This virus is like cancer, young, old, rich or poor doesn't matter it will attack anyone. Prayers for a recovery for her.

Better get going ,times seems to go faster than what I want to move ..

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe please.

A cold and freezing rain threatening at the city limits Friday morning. Tom and Callie wanted to check outside as soon as I came into this part of the house. Didn't take Callie but a few steps and she turned right around and came back in. Tom followed. They are not happy with the change in weather and back to winter so quick.

My big project today is set up the new phones. Did not even open the box when I got home yesterday so know first thing will be to charge them...haha, read directions first, Shirley! I let my daughter order them from Best Buy for me, she has ordered several things sent to the house and I just put cash into an envelope for when she gets here instead of mailing it. She loves to shop & is convinced she is helping keep me off the streets!  ;)  Besides, she really does find the best prices. My phones are old and I will have to unplug the wall phones I've kept all these years, kids tell me their out dated systems cause trouble with the newer ones, and I really don't NEED one in every room. The oldest ones don't have caller ID on them so I keep getting the same robo call from all over the US (probably not really US)because they catch me when near one & I've used that personal alarm to screech into anyone that listens in on those calls. My husband loved gadgets & put phones everywhere, even one I could reach from the shower.I was expecting a call one day, cleaning in the bathroom & so irritated at the same robo message... so I flushed the stool & put the ear piece so it could record the water good. Felt like flushing it down but didn't think it would go through.  :2funny:  Have 3 or 4 same messages on the answering machine (per day) and have to empty when I get 10  or 12.. The new phones can block hundreds so hopefully they will get tired of harassing me. I was answering too many during the period before my brother's funeral, not knowing any of the cell phone numbers of my nieces & nephews. Well, got nothing better to do. I didn't have to get out of the car, pulled up & one of their people standing on the curb asked my name & order number, went in & back out in an instant, motioned to see if I wanted in back or front & I pulled right off. Cars pulled in right behind me. I did wipe the box off with Clorox wipe & washed my hands good because allergies keep me touching my eyes & nose constantly. I really hate having to set up new gadgets but have put this off for years so gotta just do it.

I've been sitting here nearly an hour, thinking and getting up & down to take care of cats. Better eat and see if the ice has moved in, doubt if the yard guy will come early to mow! It is still too dark to tell if it is freezing rain or sleet... what is the difference?

Denver do like i did last night, I took 3 of those night time pills that are over the counter and slept through without any night wake up trips to the little room and no wet bed either. I feel good and well rested.
Shirley the deference is one has wet with it and the other is just dry hard ice pellets.they sting and hurt, not as bad as hail though. Have a good day.

Sharing what Mama of The Grands posted on Facebook this morning:

It did my heart good this morning when Emily was studying. Ellen was doing a dance class on line. Talked to Carson when he was making breakfast. With all the craziness in the world, it's good to know where my family is and that they are all safe. ❤️

Weather is drizzly and temperature is in the low 40's - with wind chill in the teens.  Brrrrrrr!   I've had a "leisurely" day.   Most active thing I did was hard boil some eggs so I can make chicken salad with part of chicken I did in slow cooker yesterday.

Jane, if this new little boy is half the character my brother, Jay, was, he will be blessed with a wonderful, loving life with a trail of friends where ever he goes. Did I tell you my brother's last crack to his family & the orderlies wheeling him into surgery?  ... "Well, I guess I should have quit smoking when I was 6".... everyone laughed.... his departing words. In my world I know Jay will be watching over this new baby like a Godfather, and I hope to hear updates as he enters this world. Thanks for sharing him with me.

Book says to charge the phones 7 hours so I am working on a new place for the answering machine in the meantime, not going to be the far back bedroom. I wanted to put it on the walnut hutch that I see when coming in from the garage, but the phone plug is behind the hutch & I can't move it unless I empty the big drawers full of books & things. The solid walnut weighs a ton, I put felt under the feet to be able to move but forgot about needing to empty those drawers and I don't wanna do it~~ Have until late night to decide. I did wash all the knick knacks. Maybe a nap before the next step?

Gloria, was your son "furloughed" or laid off.... I'm learning there is a difference. One you can't go look for another job because they still pay insurance. Have 2 gr-sons in the same spot, one can't job look in order to have them keep paying his insurance, but can draw unemployment. The other doesn't have insurance & that freaks ME out. I do feel for these kids, been there & when son, Andy, was born, we didn't have insurance so took us a year to pay him off. He had the cord around his neck & in an Isolette for 10 days. We finally got him paid off when we sold that house a year later. Back then ('60) it never crossed our mind to ask parents or anyone else for a hand out! Cas finished college & we moved on, pinched pennies and I still yell & scream at the taxes they take out of what we worked/saved for! I still don't understand where "they" are going to find all this money to bail everyone out, but I do remember how to pinch pennies!!! ;)

Here it is, supper time and I never got my nap! My brother-in-law just called, he has cancer back, in his ear this time. Bless his heart, he has faced this year after year and I hate that he lives so far away there is nothing I can do to help, he called last week to tell me & now he has an appointment with a specialist the 15th to find what they can do. He is a very shy person so I hope someone helps him with all the details. The specialist is at least 100 miles away, the last major surgery he had was at Vanderbilt, but his insurance no longer goes with them so he will see someone at Wake Forest.... their rating is very good for his situation. If you have an extra prayer, Ronnie could sure use one!

Hard to stay up beat with all the fear going around. Callie, Mama of the Grands knows what counts... "where the kids are"...  Cyber hugs, no danger with those!

Read this in newspaper:

(how to make your own Clorox wipes)  "Create a solution of 1/3 cup Clorox to one gallon of water (or 4 teaspoons per quart).  ...moisten paper towels with the solution, fold them and keep several in a sealed baggie."

Sounds like a good thing to have in the car if you go out.  You can wipe door handles before getting in and the steering wheel before driving.

Oldest son has been "furloughed" from his department supervisor job until end of April.  He's skeptical about being taken back because he's in that age group/at salary level when younger person can take his place for less pay.

Managed to get a few things done today with  lots left over for tomorrow .

Talked with my  niece today, she will soon be leaving to go live over 1000 miles away.We had wanted to meet up before they left but thanks to the virus we can,t. She is so excited for this new move in their life .

Tomorrow will make a run to the disposal site . Then onto pet store for bird feed and then groceries for us and a friend. They will pick up their supplies  here and yes we will stay 6 feet away. She also has a compromise immune system like Kyle .

Calle, thank you for the "recipe " for wipes.I agree with all the craziness going on.....one can only pray our children are safe.

Shirley, I haven't heard of any large flocks flying, would you be feeding them all down your way?

Saying good night.....

Good morning everyone, still raining here. My DIL is coming here in about 1 1/2 hours to cut my hair. Yipee. Last time she cut it was New Years day.

JANE  glad  the pain pill helped you get to sleep. I had a good one last night, woke after 7 today instead of the middle of the night.

AMY  I do OK walking or driving but get me into a big building like a hospital I get lost, no sense of direction inside. When I first moved here I kept turning the wrong side offf the elevator up here and on the ground floor, too. There has been 10 deaths so far from 1 nursing home and they are trying to find the one who brought it  into the building. Now they have it on lock down when it is too late. Now all nursing homes around will allow no one in.

SHIRLEY  the last phone I had was a dial one and had to get one with buttons on it because we now have to push so many things on the phones. I still rather talk to a person. My son was laid off and will be collecting uneployment. He hope so get back to work and take his vacation time before he retires in .July. He is already well over 67. So sorry about your BIL, prayers the doctors can help him.

CALLIE  LOOKS like I should get some Clorax if there is any to be found.

AMY  your special post for today is so true. No one was ever pro‪mised more than today.

PHYLLIS  seems I cannot remember the last time we had a blue sky and a night clear enough to see stars.

Better get  ready for my DIL, still in my nighty and robe.

Have a good day and stay safe.

I'm still working on getting these phones up & running. My daughter is supposed to figure how to look at & tell me what next. I plugged in the answering machine one and one other but have NOT unplugged any existing one except the one where I put the answering machine part... it had a phone jack to it. I never understood why, but only the old wall type phones had to plug into the jacks & the one with the answering machine. The other 5 portable ones just plug into outlet to keep batteries charged. Right now I think there is 12 phones working, certainly don't need that many, but afraid to disconnect and mess up the circuit! What do I know, hate these things and do not understand directions because they use words I don't understand!

Cats fed but didn't want their supper (canned chicken breast)... think I'll go sit in the corner and eat worms... remember that expression from long ago?

Good morning everyone, another 4 hours sleep again. Yesterday I woke at 7 and felt great all day.  My DIL came here yesterday and cut my hair. She knew I needed it but these crazy times I hated to ask her. Nice and short once again. Rain finally stopped and we had a few minutes of sunshine.

CALLIE  those jeans- as bad as being so tired you did not realize till you woke and wondered why the nighty was at my throat and I didn;t know why, I had put it on backwords. Only a dummy like me could do that.

SHIRLEY  one phone is enough for me and I hate it when it rings but I let the machine take it. If I want to talk to the person I will pick it up otherwise I ignore it. The way we said that is going to the gar den eating worms. Yuck even at the thought. YES we are SWEET LITTLE OLD LADIES :)

JANE see you remember that one, too.

Gosh thought there would be at least one person here before me this morning. Oh well just talking to myself once again.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning everyone.  Gloria at least you put them on. this computer has started off this morning like it did yesterday, dumping me. it is 42º and mostly cloudy this morning saying just going to middle 50's. i was going to say that Janes has only two hand two ears and one mouth so why dose she need so many phones. if they are hard wired? one by the throne and one by kitchen and living room aria should be enough. Gloria It is alright you talk to your self as long as you do not ask the question and answer it both they tell me. Have a great day. Nancy has a link that brings our preacher on the internet,so we can get his sermon Live even tho we are not having the church bodies there now because of the virus. I think he dose his sermon @  9:20 central standard time.
This link should get it if you would like to here it and not get out among the Masses. we used it last Sunday in the comfort of our living room and going do it again today.beats not worshiping.this fowling is the link if you would like to try it (www.ncc,burg.com ) Have a great day.

Good morning everyone...

Cloudy morning here with the threat of rain. A day of welcomed rest today.
My friend came yesterday to pick up their supplies that we got for them. She was excited as it was the first time in 3 weeks that she had been out in the car.She also gave me a package that got me so excited...containing elastics.  I even learnt something new yesterday, never knew there was elastic ric rack. I had used the regular ric rack before but this was new to me.

Gloria, I guess we will remain  shaggy dogs until the shops open here.

Callie, Shirley  and Jane ,trying going on a bus trip packed with Beavers and Girls Scouts that sang a lot of these song. Fun times though.

Lloyd and Nancy, have a great day today.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Stay safe..

Sure, I get up and the birds quit hollering..

Wishing Every Friend a beautiful Palm Sunday. It is overcast, cloudy, not sure if a little fog as well, not a bright, sunshiny day in Wichita, KS. Isn't it funny that thinking back during the days of WWII, I don't remember the rainy days, just the thought of "was this the day the bombers really did come to blow up the base 20 miles away and maybe miss their target?" I don't remember weather ever being an issue, do you? I didn't dwell on worrying long, it was my job to make people happy, so I thought. The world today seems as frantic, distraught, fearful, sad.... as during those war years. I wonder what my great grands are thinking these days, with their parents working from home and the underlying stress / tension of not being free to mingle with friends. I know the little ones are doing "face time" with friends and family, but not like laying on the grass giggling and watching clouds roll by. SO, here is a germ free, cyber hug & kiss to each and every person looking in.  :kiss2:

Good morning.  I made myself get up this morning. Yesterday was a very lazy day and I did absolutely nothing.

A Special good morning to you, Gloria, Shirley, Jane and Amy, who are so loyal everyday.  "The Sweet Little  Old Ladies"  LOL   ( can't forger Lloyd, but he didn't fit in that same category)

Jane. The only Girl Scout song I remember is "Climbing Jacob's Ladder".  Our leader used to sing the Alto part and it was so pretty.

So, hopefully, I will feel better today.  I want to make sure I get my "walking the halls" today.  Tomorrow, I will have a PT come in and will have more exercises to do.   I need to build up my strength.

It is a pretty sunny day, but still a little chilly.

I better get myself moving or I will wind up sitting here too long.

Have a great day.

Good Morning,

I remember singing all sorts of silly songs at summer camps.  "99 Bottles of Beer On The Wall" and the State Song in which one side asked the question and the other side answered were favorites.  Example of latter:

Where has Ore -gon?
She's seeing Oklahome"

What did Iowa (pronounced "way")?
She weighed a Washington.

My church is streaming the Palm Sunday church live on Facebook.  Only the pastor and a few musicians will actually be in the sanctuary.  We received the Order of Worship in an e-mail so we have the responses and prayers.

Enjoy a blessed Sunday, Everyfriend.

Joy, my in town friend & I were discussing the fact we both need to "build up our strength". She really does it & I only think about it. I really do believe these in between seasons are hard to get motivated, like we are in waiting mode. Can't put away winter clothes but know it is about time, and have to drag out a jacket or fuzzy bathrobe to be comfy in the mornings. Ah, guess we had more important things to think about years ago, right?  Like getting breakfast on the table so everyone could get to school/work on time.

I went to my church, "they" had palms for everyone that wanted to come by & pick up, so I got out of the car & went in to talk to God a few minutes. My son & wife were there, alone in the pews. Few men in the back keeping the supply of palms ready for anyone that came by. All were wearing gloves & masks... The service was taped so will see if I can find on the computer.

I needed to get milk, what was left in the bottle I poured around the rose bush. Somewhere I read that milk was a good fertilizer & don't think it mattered it was a little out of date.  ;)

Amy, now that you mention it, long time ago I had a package of stretchy ric rack. I have so much "stuff" from projects long ago, one of these days I will find someone close that would enjoy a box full of this & that. I "don't do nuthin" anymore.  :-[

Lloyd, good you are staying inside a little more, sure don't want to go to a hospital these days, might have to take your own hand sanitizer and TP.... :2funny:

Behave, Shirley.... maybe take a nap?

Gloria, I didn't get much sleep last night but a lot less the night before. My sister-in-law called about 9:00 pm and we talked until nearly 2:00 am. She is the one whose husband (my brother) just died and just needed to think out loud. We were both so surprised when we discovered what time it was. I think my body has adjusted to crazy hours to eat & sleep. I got some Lil' Debbie donuts at the store while ago so a cup of coffee & donuts should put me down for an hour or so.

Yep, Callie, those 99 bottles took a long time to fall off, didn't they? It does NOT look like spring this morning. Going to be mixed weather this week, not looking forward to the storms, hardly recovered from last year damage.

My favorite Girl Scout song, when I co-led a troop, was "Strut Miss Lucy".  The girls would get so animated in their strutting!

Meet me by the fence took on a new meaning today. My neighbour and I would meet at the fence to discuss  how the day went or exchange goodies we have baked. Today we both left with tears in our eyes...her mother in law passed away. A remarkable lady  ,small in stature but oh my she could make the world jump. She came back to live in a place she had worked for years, teaching the new ones there on how it was done in her day. Her husband of many year proceeded her and I am sure they are now in each others arms. There will be a bright star in the sky tonight and you can bet she will have His house in order. Meet me at the fence..

Aw, Amy, I had tears in my eyes reading your post. Hurts to lose someone so dear, even when we tell ourselves THEY are in a better place. I'm sure your neighbor appreciated your caring with her.

My DIL just sent a text to 9 of our group, with photo of the masks she made today. She is very neat in anything she does, so is getting requests for the ones she offered as well as "can we order more?"

A HAPPY AND BLESSED PALM SUNDAY TO EVERYFRIEND

It sure does not feel like Palm Sunday.......very strange to not be able to go to church....and just wait until next week.....EASTER......no sunrise services as we know them, no church and family gatherings😢

We are enjoying a beautiful day.....70 degrees with all of the windows wide open, airing out our main floor as well as our basement 🦋🦋🦋

JANE, how exciting to read the new bundle of joy will be a little boy.  I am so very happy for you and the family.  Nothing better than a new little baby to look forward to🥰

We have been FaceTime'ing with family......we are so blessed to be able to do this.  Goodness, we have not seen any of our family in over a month or longer😩😢

Thank you, AMY. I always enjoy the things that you post for us to enjoy.  Yes, tell your loved ones how much you love them every chance you can as none of us ever know when it may be our last one and also, I want each of you to know that you all are very special to me as well and I even 💕 you as my special friends❣️

Feeling sad for all of the people loosing their jobs ...... salaries being cut for many that are still working like doctors and nurses.  Everyone.....EVERYONE is hurting in one way or another and sadly it is going to get so much worse before we ca; even hope to see it get better.  In our lifetime, I doubt that we will ever see things get back to the way they were just a month ago......my wish is that we ALL will learn from this..... and start showing more compassion for one another🙏💕🙏💕

You all take care and enjoy the rest of your Sunday.

Jenny

Lloyd:  I laughed out loud re. your being old and happy.

We get a lot of calls normally from our children and they are doing their best to check on us.  Daughter & family came to visit - standing by the sidewalk and chatting.  It sure was nice to see them.  Later, youngest son and wife stopped by and stood almost in the little street and chatted from there.  The new way to visit.  She is a teacher and is classes are online now.  She misses the children.

Our oldest grandson's school is not having any ceremony and he is home from Minnesota taking class online.  No graduation party either.

We shop for groceries online and drive down to the parking spot to have them put bags in the trunk.  I made a mistake today and had a huge double load of groceries because I should have deleted my previous order.  So embarrassing & I hope no one thought I was a hoarder.   :crazy2: I cannot find yeast for baking bread.  Shelves are empty.

This too shall pass.

Update about Mary Ann

I was told that Tom Tock wrote a message on FaceBook : he was looking for an aide for Mary Ann  at night because if she goes to a care home she will be in lock down and he is unwilling to do that and not be able to see her at this time.

Good morning everyone,  supposed to be sunny today so might make it out for fresh air. If it gets sunny and warmer maybe a few others will get out, too.

LLOYD  we have church on TV every Sunday here. I know several who miss being in a church but in this virus mess it is best to stay inside and away from others.

AMY  in these times it is odd not getting new palms yesterday. Hard to believe next Sunday is Easter Sunday. I always enjoyed the sound of Whip o Wills at night untill the night one woke me in a tree outside of an open window.  I finally got up and shut the window and it flew away.

JANE  I had my first pill and my coffee so now my tummy says "feed me" Not usual for me to be hungry this early 5am.

SHIRLEY  my son was here 3 times and never got close to me, my DIL was here Saturday morning to cut my hair but no hugs from her either. Sad world we are living in when we are afraid to touch anyone.

JOY  for me week ends are lazy. No CNA to get me going. The only song I remember from the Brownie and girl scout days is Make new friend but keep the old.

JENNY  my grandson sent me an email the other day with a picture of his son to cheer me up. My great grans had a big smile on his face. He is a little ham when someone takes his picture. At Christmas he sent me a video clip with him opening his gifts from Santa at home and I was also at my son's on Christmas day and he was so ute handing everyone their gifts before opening his.

CAROL  my CNA has been getting my groceries for me. Shw wears gloves and a mask to go to the market. She wears them coming in here, too. She takes both off when she is in my apartment. She is always wiping things down with wipes.

BUBBLE  thanks for the message from Tom. I am so glad the CNAs are still working here. Without her help 5 days a week I don't know what I would do. Hope he finds someone to help Mary Ann.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

A lovely day here in the making...think the rain decided to go where it was needed.

Picking up yeast to and cinnamon along with more milk. Seems the neighbour liked the bread they got and asked when I was making more. Will get that done and maybe some cinnamon buns for them also. We will be looking after the neighbours dog and cat beside us while they go make funeral arrangement  for his Mom. Then back to sewing after that.

Gloria, I have only heard one Whip Poor Will in my life time.. I am so waiting on the Loons to come back,to me that is Spring .
Shirley, I agree she is in a better place.Sent you an email.

Jenny, this long distance love is no fun for sure but at least in these modern times one can chat on phone/Skype and catch up on Facebook.I just told a friend the other day as the gas station when all this is over with I have a lot of hugs to give and collect!!

Carol, you are all set for food for a while now. I have been picking up yeast for friends that shouldn't go out and imagine it too will be scare in a bit.

Lloyd and Nancy good morning. Lloyd, remember the fellow I said was like you? Well that is where the bread is going later today.

Jane,  hope your arm is giving you less pain each day....and if you hear it say knit one...purl two you know it is knitting.

Joy ,happy to read you are enjoying home.

Phyliss, enjoy your day.Are you cooking up a storm today? I know I have been trying different recipes....some are keeper and others are......well hubby is very patient with me. :)

Better get moving here.

Enjoy your day to the fullest and stay safe.

I'm up but not awake.  I guess I need another cup of coffee but the supply is getting short so perhaps I'll wait.  David will go out to pick up a grocery order this afternoon and I hope that I can get all of the things that I ordered but don't expect that I will.

The only cooking I did yesterday, Amy, was to make a meatloaf for our dinner.  I decided to take a day of rest and only read about cooking rather than actually doing it.

Laundry today, as usual.  Stay well, All.

I've been up since 4:00 something, fed cats, fed me and been waiting for Tom to come back in so I can go back to bed for a couple hours. It is getting light & he usually shows up before very light. I have things to do today so need to get my sleep in & be ready to roll earlier than some of my lazy days. No matter how tired we are of hearing about "the virus", it has changed our lives completely.

Gloria, hope you get this super warm few days....will be hard to stay inside with about 80 and knowing at least a 20-30 degree drop come Thursday through the week end. I may be griping about the heat by the end of day Wed.... never satisfied!  :-[

Thanks for the news from Tom, Bubble, I hope he can find someone with a big heart to care for her, she deserves the best.

Carol.... tsk, tsk, "forgot" that extra order.  ;)  ;D

This is orange season, so "they" tell me at the store. I made fruit ice last week & still enjoying pulling the tub out of the freezer & munching every day. My mother always said to squeeze the same number of oranges as you mash bananas.... put enough sugar in the juice (& pulp) to soak up the juice. This time the oranges were super juicy and sweet so did not use quite as much sugar. I did put in an extra banana because the oranges were so juicy. Have to add water, as much as you want to thin the fruit... and stir as it freezes so fruit doesn't sink or float (can't remember which)... it is SO refreshing. I didn't have much room in my frig/freezer so used a medium size Tupperware square. Can't tell you how good it tastes to just pull out the tub & eat from since nobody is coming to share!  Wishing all a healthy & happy Monday... or as Callie would say, "Merry Monday!"

Here's Tom, I can go back to bed in peace!

And look who all showed up when I tried to post!! Good morning, girls. Wish everyone would quit talking about fresh bread, I could live on bread. Have not baked it for at least a couple years & so now probably couldn't find yeast here, as well. Will put it on my list for "next time shopping". I have at least 4 cans of cinnamon... one of those things I knew I needed but kept forgetting that I already bought. duh...

Merry Monday, Everyfriend,

Sunshine didn't last long.  :(  Back to dreary gray skies this morning.  I surely did enjoy a short stroll (with my rollator) to the end of the street and some patio time yesterday afternoon.  Am hoping to start walking to the mailbox when/if the sun decides to stick around.

I've sent a grocery list to #2 son, who is the one that told me not to go out because I was "under orders from the governor"  ;D    At least, this way, I'll get a glimpse of him - although he stays clear across the room from me.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable safe day.

Nice to see all the friend's messages today.  It has been a very slow morning for me.  I am still trying to wake up. I am not a morning person, and it just takes me forever to feel "human".   I did eat a little something so I could take my neds.

All the talk about homemade bread is making me so jealous. I have never made any homemade bread before. Just have never had much luck with making anything with yeast.   Yesterday, on QVC, the showed a small bread maker that did everything.  Mixed it, kneaded it and even baked it.  And, I was so tempted to order one. and it wasn't expensive.  I might go look it up, except I wouldn't get it at the sale price or with the free shipping.

Amy, it brought tears to my eyes, also, reading about the meeting up with your neighbor.  Sounds like she was a very special lady.  Such a bad time for a death in the family, with everything that is happening.

Jane, sorry you are still having a lot of pain. Just take it slow.

I hope everyone will have a nice afternoon.

Joy

Thank you, Amy!  I intend to either buy some buttermilk or put a little vinegar in milk to sour it.

I have been on the phone to several stores.  No yeast.  The delivery comes in every week and someone buys all 14 packages that have 3 individual packs in each package - why does the store not put a little limit.  Sad to see there is such a rush and grabbing attitude.  Now, I need to buy bread flour.  All I have is whole wheat flour for machine bread.

Yes, we had an overload at the Walmart.  I hide my face - and have given some to our neighbors or family.

We are under orders to only go to get food, gasoline, work, and we do see clear sky.  How nice to see the snow topped mountains crisp and clear.  Most buildings are closed however some people are considered essential.  Two of our children are essential.  The other two can work out of their homes - same for grandchildren.  We are concerned over their job hunting.

I also copied the recipe.... and will tell you that raisins do not go into my bread! Seriously, I have picked them out of bread, rolls, cookies & cake all of my life and will be a thrill to know THIS time, they didn't go in! I wonder, if, like with biscuits, I can substitute regular milk with a tablespoon of vinegar per cup, for the buttermilk. My husband loved buttermilk but was used to his mother's REAL buttermilk. She had a farmer she could buy whole milk from, would churn her own butter & they both loved the buttermilk. He was not as fond of the grocery store kind and I usually bought it only when making a German chocolate cake from scratch. Anyway, this looks good & have plenty of flour, even self rising flour for biscuits, and a whole gallon of milk. Only thing to keep me from fresh bread is that ornery person lurking in my body called LAZY!  That is, if you real cooks can tell me if my vinegar/milk will work for bread as well as biscuits....  ???  :-\

Callie, that wind is cranked up to sail a boat across the Flint Hills. Howling but fairly warm. So irritating.... can I scream?

Amy & Jane, I'm guessing you both had dogs long ago that got those big fat ticks on them, yes? We had to pull them off (well, really my brothers) and I thought they were ghastly.... So when my youngest brother would tease me at Grandma's house, because she had her special prune cake sitting on the pedestal on her hutch, it haunted me the whole time. We were not allowed to say we didn't like something or even "no, thank you, I don't care for any".... we had to accept a small piece and get it down with a smile. Brother, Hal, told me the raisins in the cake were ticks, now I knew they weren't but my imagination saw ticks, big fat ones in that cake. You'd think by 85 I would be over it, but it comes to mind when ever I see a raisin in anything. I can eat them out of the box and know they are good for us, BUT... My uncle that lived with Grandma always had at least one hunting/bird dog with slick fur, and they always had ticks on them so it was never far from my mind.

Anyway, thanks for the okay on using vinegar, Amy. Did I answer your e-mail?  Been a crazy week around here.

Jane, how's the injury doing? Any less pain or move movement?  Will take some serious work to limber that puppy up when all over! I don't think anyone ever offered to eat my raisins before, that was really sweet of you.......

Good  evening everyone. well we copied AMY's recipe of the soda bread. but we had no butter milk, so Nancy  just used the milk we had on Hand and it was store bought and was just 1% , It tastes good to us. May be a little dryer than store bough dread. But ten seconds in the microwave oven is as soft and nice as ever.

well I am back for a short note. I have it paused on YouTube  a documentary about things to safely eat and drink from Nature in the wield. one thing I just watched was. dandle roots you dig them up cut the top's and the little hair and tip's off them.and chop them up in little bits and put them in a skillet and shake them around like you were popping popcorn, until they are black like charcoal, then put them in a little tea strainer and pour hot water over them and sweeten to taste cool and drink .is good for tummy aces and such. lot of good tips on that subject. may be worth a little research.
good night and sweet dreams

Good evening.

SHIRLEY, I purchased some Soda Bread for St. Patrick's Day from our Sprouts and found it to be lemon and blueberry.....have never seen that before, but it was delicious.  I am another person that is not fond of raisins.  I like raisins on their own, just not IN things!  I much prefer cranberries.

AMY, I am afraid Raisin Pie might be a bit too "raisin-e" for me!  They are much too sweet!

GLORIA, I know you had to be so pleased your DIL came to cut your hair. I could not stand mine anymore so took the scissors to it over the weekend.  To be honest it is not too bad....just hard to do much to the back.  IF only I could set my head off🤣🤣

JANE, you can have ALL of my raisins!  Do hope you are learning how to deal with your broken shoulder.  I am sure happy it is not your dominant arm!

I did not see any post from Tom Tock on Facebook.....I am feeling sad for Mary Ann.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning from Oslo, Norway. The sun is shining brightly, though it IS cold outside. My son told me to keep myself in the house; he will shop for me (and my best friends, if necessary). Easter is coming up, meaning the stores that are still open will shut on Wed. at noon, re-open for 4 hours on Saturday, and then lock down again until Tuesday after Easter. That is the way it ususally is done, but I don't know if other rules will apply during this crisis. My son works at the opera, which is closed, so he has time to help old ladies in distress, and friends/neighbors who cannot leave their apartments for reasons other than age. My other son drives a trolley; I worry about his being in an exposed position every day, but he says he takes the recommended precautions.
My daughter lives in New York City, and I am thankful that so far, all is well. Grand kids are home from school, but will be back to lessons on line after Easter. They are lucky their building has a garden they can go out in to get fresh air. Forsythia blooming, and all kinds of spring flowers.

Question: Did Miss-ouri lend Missis-sippi her New Jersy?
Answer: Idaho, Alaska!

PS I'm exploring what Seniors & Friends has on the menu. I'm amazed how varied the boards are.

Good morning everyone..
:hello: Jane, thank you! I will look for that if and when we get to the city and get it for Kyle. May look here and see if the drug store has some.

More cleaning to do today, windows washed and curtains hung out . Would like to get this all done before the good weather comes.

Jenny ,when I make the pie I don't add sugar, as you say they are sweet enough. Same with date squares..no sugar .
Received a cartoon that said in 3 weeks time we will know the true colour of everyone's hair! :2funny:

Shirley, yes I do know about those awful bugs. Babe had one on her last year. Just gross little critters. Both dogs will go on flea and tick med this year!
Rutami, welcome and good morning to you.

Since I finally got up earlier than before. I had better make good use of my time.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Y'all are sure bright & shiny this morning! I also have a "busy" (tongue in cheek) day, I'm going to call Kentucky Fried Chicken to make sure they are still open (I've picked up the single meals a few times in the last couple weeks)... going to take the bucket meal to son & wife since both of them are working extra hard online with students. She teaches math to middle school & he teaches 2 classes to electrical engineering students that want to get their diploma and some go back the their home countries. Stressful jobs, stressful world. They are all being so good about not eating out so want to take them a treat. I hope everyone cooking food for carry out is being careful and safe.

Cats are all snuggled down for their morning naps. They stayed out last night, the low was 60+, so online weather showed. These ferals are nocturnal even though they must live on a human schedule most of the time.

Must go fix my breakfast, I feel lonely this morning, no reason except I enjoy getting out & mingling with people/shopping, and when I go to the store, bank or where ever necessary, it is there & back. Not a pity-party, just thinking.

Rutumi, I've seen you in another discussion & have wondered where you were born.... since I heard your quote before (being from Missouri, myself), will just ask. How cum you live in Norway? Don't mean to pry, just enjoy meeting and hearing about others. Happy to see you stop in here.

Keep thinking about Mary Ann, I'm sure Tom is busy taking care of her until he can find help. I do admire them both for helping each other.

One thing sure, this is the best bunch of people to be found anywhere! Big ole cyber hugs to all....

Good morning everyone, another beautiful day in store today. Spent a couple of hours outside yesterday, a few out on the porch sitting on their  rollators. Was fun talking to them. Yes we were the 6 feet from everyone else.

JANE  I would be very sad not to have the SS and our cyber family to talk with every day. I so remember when SN shut us out. How happy I was when Pat opened S&F although a few never followed us.

AMY  boy I would love to have you for a neighbor. I would love some of your home made bread. If I ate enough of it I might add a couple of pounds?

PHYLLIS  wish I could cook and eat like I used to. Especially baking a pie or coo‪kies. If I was no t such a fussy eater I would be eating those TV dinners.

SHIRLEY  will be another good day today but topmorrow will be rain again. Like someone on the porch yesterday said 2 nice days and then 3 days of rain.

LLOYD  wish I could make bread again. Not slrong enough for the kneading anymore.

CAROL  sure hope no virus hit your computer. I know mine is acting up with the email.

CALLIE  when my younger son comes on Saturday he will not come near me either so no more hugs for now at least.

JOY  for a change I woke at 8 this morning, been waking between 3 -4 most mornings and feel sleepy most of the day. I have thought of getting a bread machine but no place to put it.

CAROL  wwhen I used to make bread I never used bread flour, just the regular. Don't think they had bread flour all those years ago.

SHIRLEY  like you I do not like raisins ad will still pick them out of anything.

JANE  I have been using Hempvana on my back and shoulders and it is the only thing that has helped me so far.

RUTUMI  so nice seeing your post here in the Soda Shoppe, We are a feiendly group and welcome everyone. Hope you come back here more often now that you found us.

Think I better get a move on and get dressed. Have to call the witch and make an appointment to sign a paper about the raise in my rent. Not bad, only $4 more. Don't know if she is in today, will have to look out to see if her car is here.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning,

Son brought groceries "in quantity"!  I now have 52 pouches of dishwasher detergent (usually run dishwasher about twice a week) and a half gallon of Listerine.  :)
I asked if he would prefer I try ordering on line and he said, "No. You'd never get the order."  Fine with me as it does give me face-to-face contact with a real person...even if it is across the room.

A nice friend is sharing directions for making your own mask.  My reaction to her first message was  "Sew?  ???  Moi???  :o  Surely you jest!"    :2funny:

Then she sent a Youtube video of the Surgeon General showing how to make one without any sewing:

That's better.  Folding I can do.

Sunny and warm today. I may be able to walk to the mailbox....if the wind isn't blowing the pollen around to the point that my eyes water and my nose drips.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
Onward and Upward

Gloria if you do not have a bread Machine, they have them at W M reasonable price. someone said they just used theirs the knead part. we usually go full length but you have to dig the paddles out of the bread, so taking it that point would eliminate that problem. I think It was AMY but not sure. but I will bet she wont get mad about using her expertise, she is a sweetheart. I I had a herd time getting to sleep, but when I did I slept Past morning meal and right up to noon meal,so just ate it and skipped the morning meal. that won't hurt my wight gain any.

Lloyd, yep that was me. Let the machine do the work, then take the dough out and make it into what you like....bread, buns, chelsea buns. I have made buns of bread as we don't eat a loaf up fast enough...so put 3 pieces of dough in pan, bake and then we just take one part off. Put the rest in the fridge for later. Like this

Good Afternoon Everyone..
Thanks Callie for that Youtube on how
to make your own face masks...

Easy does it.. I will try to make me  a
couple and see how that works for me.

Great idea!!!

I sneeked out this morning and walked
down to CVS to pick up some meds..

They are promoting sending us our meds
thru the mail.  Which I will have them
do for me from now on.

They were only letting people in their store
a few at a time..  I got right in, but
when i came out there was a line of people
waiting to get in.

I had dressed for the occasion  had on my
mask and gloves.    People are being very very
careful,  which is a good thing.

I should not have to go out again except
to get my blood tested ....  YIKES

Have  a good day,  Everyone..

Hi Mary Ann

love Sandy

A good Tuesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND!

Thank you, AMY, for the nice thought for the day.  When I wake up my first thought is....."yes, we are still in the corona virus situation, it is so and so day, and thanks be to God that we are all healthy and have a safe home to be in today"🙏🙏 You go girl......we sure want you to have all the indoor tasks done so you will be able to spend plenty of time outside planting in your nice planters your honey made for you❣️

JANE, I am not familiar with Arnica Gel, but I thank you for sharing this as I will be checking this out and sharing your advice with others in need of pain relief!  I had to smile as I read, "I have a list of things to do today"!  Of course you do.....I know you well enough to know tha5 you are not going to let a broken shoulder keep you down😘😘

WELCOME, RUTUMI.  So nice to see your interesting post.  I hope you will come back regularly as we all enjoy the interface with friends from all over the world.

CALLIE, thankful for your son taking care of your needs....so many of US are certainly blessed to have caring families❣️

We had a call from our California Son.....he has been let go along with many that worked for the City.  The golf course may not ever open again, according to the powers that be, so he is looking at long range plans for he and his family.  It did not come as a big surprise to him as he knew it was not a sustainable business for the district😩. I am very proud of him in as instead of me having to be the strong one "consoling" him, he was consoling me!  And so, life goes on😘.

SHIRLEY, I am starting to feel the effect of this distancing thing also.  I have not seen anyone I care about face to face for so long, and I am really missing a hug and a greeting from my loved ones.  Mind you, I have my honey, so at least I do have him and I am very fortunate.

Need to get myself busy.....so you ALL take care and enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

Good morning everyone. I knew when I got 8 hours sleep Monday night that would not be repeated, just got 4  hours last night and here I am a little after 3am wide awake. Oh well better than no sleep at all and had nights like that.

CALLIE wow  a gallon of listerine would last me forever. Thanks for the video for making a mask with no sewing. I cannot see good enough to thread a needle. I even have some of those self threading needles. I am so lucky with the CNA I have, she loves shopping and is a coupon queen so she saves me $$$ at the same time. She keeps better track of what I am running out of than I do.

LLOYD  I would have no place to put a bread machine in here. Very little counter space and with the microwave, toaster  oven and coffee maker there is not much room left.

SANDY  only seen 2 people living in this building wearing a mask.

JENNY  like you I miss the hugs from the son who comes here every Saturday. My other son's wife surprised me when she called and she cam here to cut my hair. Other than my CNA she is the only one I have been that close to. I still get my back massage 5 days a week when Yvette is here. One day I just might fall asleep while she massages my back.

AMY  love the Good Night you signed off with last night.

JANE  been a long time since I made a to do list. Now I just do what I can and that is not much.

LLOYD  hope you had a good sleep last night.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Cloudy with a thread of rain today. Washing down walls and ceilings is now telling on me.Wow I must have more muscles than I thought as they are all telling me they are here. Then I helped hubby with bagging up the lawn rakings.

Not sure what I am going to do today at the moment, would like to carry on with Spring cleaning but we shall see.

Gloria, you beat the roosters this morning. Hope you can grab some zzz'x later on.

Jane, you're amazing. getting all done that you want to do.

Jenny, your son will find another job and hopefully closer to home for you. This is a trying time all over and I pray it will be over with soon.

Sandy, make the mask and us it next time you venture out. I saw a lady in the grocery store the other day and she had a plastic shield on. but no mask and I think she should have had both. I wear my mask and my glasses so mouth, nose and eyes are covered.

Everyone one is doing the social distancing but some just don't get it. They are quickly told by the cashiers when they don't pay attention to the signs.

Stay safe and have a great day everyone.

It is a little cloudy here this morning but still will be another warm day....near, or in, the low 80's.  We were supposed to get some rain yesterday but it didn't happen.  The pine pollen is really heavy this year....everything is yellow.  I suppose if I went outdoors and stood still long enough I would be yellow, too.  ;D

Gloria, I am sure your CNA is really good and I'm glad you have her back but in my area right now even she couldn't buy what isn't on the shelf!  I was sort of laughing with the grocery store "picker" when she called to tell me of some unavailables/substitutions.  She said she was very sorry but there was no yeast and I said that I didn't think there was any yeast or toilet paper anywhere in the world!  I used one of the last 2 pkgs. of yeast I have for a loaf of bread yesterday.  We're doing OK.  We are just having to adapt a little bit.  Actually I'm beginning to like tortillas as a lunchtime sandwich wrap.  ;D

I am another bread baker that just uses the bread machine for mixing and kneading.  I take it out to shape it and let it rise and then bake it in the oven.  I like the result much better.  And the kneading doesn't hurt my hands and arms when the machine does it.

Take care, All.

Yesterday, daughter asked what I had done.  Told her "nothing", she said so you were a sloth.  I said "absolutely".  Today, I had to tell her I was a "busy old broad".  Went to bank, drive thru, (lobby closed); sneaked into Dollar General for candy bars (hadnt had chocolate in days and days. Came home.  Weeded and cleared dry plants out of my front porch flower bed, which is full of "Moses in the Bullrush" (can't think of real name, but my mom always called them that).  With all this rain we are having, they are about a foot tall (and I had cut them back during winter).  Changed and charged the battery in my Ring doorbell. Took the electric blanket off my bed (king-sized and quite a chore).  I think I'm tired now.  Maybe tomorrow I'll be a sloth again, as it's supposed to rain.  Today we set a record of 97 degrees.  Never been that hot in April, past record was 93.  I had to turn the A/C on for a few minutes but it's off now.  I can't sleep with the A/C running, just too cold for these old bones.  I wish I were seeing more birds, but only the brown grackles and some crows are out picking at something.  The squirrels were in the backyard digging for lost treasures. This one was so funny, he heard me open the sliding door, and just flattened himself on the patio, thinking I couldn't see him!  LOL, his tail was doing the swishing back and forth so you couldn't miss him. Before I quit blathering, yesterday I had this "ear worm" of a piece of music, I think it was from a Disney movie but don't know why it came into my head and Ijust kept singing and humming it.
Sala gadoola, mitchee kaboola, bippety boppety boo. Put em' together and what have you got?  Bippety boppety, boo".
Well, on that note, I'll wish you all a pleasant good night or early morning, depending on your time zone that shows up here! Just for fun it is 10:48 PM, Wednesday, April 8th, where I am.

"Bippety boppety, boo" to you, too, TOMREADER!  I think I have to relate to being a sloth on occasion as well!  Seems you had a good day with many accomplishments.  We won't be taking our heater blanket off the bed yet, as we will be in the low 30's by the weekend with snow in the forecast.  Mind you, we have been in the 70's the last few days here in the Mile High City.....fickle weather🤣🤣

Our day started out with watching a man come and take out the stump of the tree that recently fell with our last heavy snowstorm. Bob hand dug out several big clumps of unwanted broad leaf grass in our lawn.  What a job!

Talked to Diane, my Dads lady friend as today is her Birthday.  Tomorrow is my Dads 96th Birthday.  We were suppose to be in Arizona with him right now and I am sad that we are not😩😢

JANE, your bacon Sammy sure sounded YUMMY and good for you getting all done what it took to get it done AND even got the pan cleaned up!  Good for you💕

AMY, loved your graphic again today❣️  Thank you for the kinds words regarding my son.  They will indeed be fine and hopefully the next door that opens for him will be even better than the last!

Heading off to bed.....pleasant dreams to all.

I woke up about 2:00 am but thought it too early to get up so lay in bed for an hour thinking. Boy, was that depressing! Seems everything around here has a problem that I can't fix. Not used to NOT being able to fix and what I couldn't, Cas could. On top of that, this will be the first Easter in at least 65 years that I haven't dyed eggs. My Dad loved Easter eggs and Mom would fix enough that he had one in his lunch bucket for at least a week or two after. He spent the last 7 months of his life in a nursing home after a stroke, so we took him a basket with eggs & candy and a little chicken that peeped when you held it on your hand. He was so pleased, had to help him peel one egg right away.

Jenny, know you are disappointed in not being with your father, tell him I send a very Happy Birthday from Kansas.

Tome, you hit a cord with that tune! Now you'll have everyone skipping to those words all day! I am so ready to get on with the next season but like Jenny, we have some freezing temps this next week end. Hope the fruit trees don't get ruined. I did get one thing done yesterday, ordered a baker's rack for the cat food. I am tired of hauling all those cans of tuna, salmon, cans of Friskies to the basement & back up every day. When I find Chicken of the Sea tuna or "people" salmon on sale, I stock up. They don't like but 2 kinds of the Friskies now and even Chewy was out of their favorite, so bought them 36 cans last time I found their favorite & been tripping over the "flats" by the basement door ever since.

Well, last cat showed up for breakfast so better serve them. We were in the 80s yesterday but much colder today. Be back later after the rest of my brain wakes up, and somebody else wakes up....

Good morning everyone, rained yesterday and raining still.  Forsythia is starting to bloom so that is a sign that spring is here but it sure does not feel like it. Then still we have been having April showers most days of the month.
I did not do much yesterday but sleep. After breakfast I laid on the couch and slept for 3 hours. After my CNA left at 2 I laid on the couch again and the phone woke me after  5. Slept good last night, too.

AMY  when you get through your spring cleaning and miss it you can come here and do mine. Untill about  6 ot 7 years ago I would be washing walls and windows and every thjing I could see. I remember my MIL and helping her even take mattresses outside to air out.

PHYLLIS  so far I have bread-in the freezer. Don't eat it often so freeze half a loaf and use half. Of course with all the preserveatives in it these days it never gets hard or moldy.

JANE  amazing what we can do with one arm/hand. Like you the hilight of my day is coming here in the mornings and reading what everyone is doing. Makes me content to see what everyone is doing especially in these days of uncertainty. My CNA has to wear a mask and gloves but when she gets into my place the mask comes off. She has trouble breathing with it on but it is her  company's rules.

TOMEADER1 goodness that is an old song that got into your head. I think I must be the worse cloth around, I do not do much anymore. In the heat and humidity of summer I sleep with my AC on. If I shut it off I would not sleep because it would be too hot for me.

JENNY  I think when age creeps up we all become a bit like a sloth at times.

SHIRLEY  I thought of you aking early, having breakfast and going back to bed. That was me yesterday. Slept  hours with the TV on.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Woke up to a winter wonderland!!What a shock that is...but..it is so pretty out there. Pines are wearing their lace dresses and everything is pristine....for a moment.

Need to cut fabric today and lots of it. My friend will be picking it up on her way to deliver what she has cut to give to her daughter. The daughter and her friends are making masks for senior homes.

Jane, now that is an accomplishment with just one wing.  Speaking of one wing we have a starling here with one foot but he uses his one wing for balance as he eats the seed on the ground.

Gloria, there are times our bodies need to catch up on sleep. We don't eat a lot of bread but every now and again like a Sammy, now thanks to Jane we may have a BLT for lunch.

Shirley, these dogs will like a food then seem to not want it. I try to keep different flavours of canned food on hand if I don't have some already made up.

Jenny ,Happy birthday to your Dad. I am doing a slow boil here. City people have been told to stay home, don't go to your cottage as small towns can't deal with the influx should they need to go to the hospital in the area. My friend used to say our hospital was 10 beds and a morgue, not far off the mark. Just read one came up from the city, stopped at a small country store and bought $1500.00 worth of groceries. People don't learn or care about others.

Better get moving here..

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.

We are getting used to the new normal.  It was fun last evening looking at the full moon.  I heard yip yip sounds (like coyotes, then howling like wolves.  Actually, it was 8 PM and neighbors were howling at the moon instead of clapping as they do in the UK.  My howling isn't perfect yet.  All the dogs in the neighborhood joined in and it was hilarious to hear.  All for recognizing the health and safety caregivers.

Joy:  are you "human" today?

Jane:  We have "Arnica" in the house too.

Jenny:  Our church has devotions online - I imagine all of the churches around here are doing the same.  Cyber hug to you!

rutumi:  We have been to Oslo and some of my relatives children (adults) work in the city.  Lovely, I remember a open air concert area -

Tomereader:  Now, I can't stop that song.

Hang in there!  This too shall pass if we keep on keeping on.

of course, today was the day I planned to pay my bills and I did manage that between quirks.

CAROL, send your barber over, at this point i'd trust a kindergarterer with a pair of blunt end scissors!

I hope you are all enjoying your day!

Meet me at the fence...neighbour phone and said.....

She came to the fence carrying a plastic bag and passed it over to me. Inside was her mother in law's sewing basket filled with priceless goodies.

Also included was a folder of knitting patterns that she used over and over again..

Inside the sewing basket was a lot of sewing items but one that stood out and made me smile was elastic!! Finding elastic here now is like finding hens teeth. I shall cherish this sewing basket.

Good morning everyone, ahh this is one of the mornings my coffee tastes great. With a Keurig I wonder why it doesn't always tastes this good. Same coffee and same measure of it every cup but some times it doesn't taste that good. Maybe my taste buds are wearing out? Nah, can't happen, CAN IT?

AMY  so you had some of that beautiful white stuff that I missed this past winter? Lucky you. I am so tired of all this rain and dampness and staying inside. I know that is what we are supposed to do now but at least we can go out and get fresh air and walk around the parking lot by ourselves. Goodness buying $1500 worth of food, must be some big party they were planning.  I feel like I am buying the store out when my son takes me once a year to stock up on things and I spend $200. Then I do not have much room to store much in here.

LLOYD  seens like you should not have moved your motorhome moved yesterday. Sorry you ran into something that cost you more than you want to spend.

CAROL  must have been a wild time with neighbors howling at the full moon. My daughter asked my SIL to cut her hair and he is thinking about it.

JANE  I am so glad my DIL called and asked me if I wanted a haircut and she came and cut it for me. I was ready to ask my CNA to use scissors to cut the worse ot it.

AMY  I would say your neighbor knows you and all the sewing you do. Great gift for you.

JANE  you must have spread Joan's Angel dust last night because I did sleep good.

Have a good day and stay safe.

1db60007-12d1-4cd4-b0c0-832e0ae0a021.jpgGood snowy morning everyone..

Yes, it is snowing again..........where did Spring go? I know I have been sleeping in but did I miss Summer and Fall??

Friends stopped back in yesterday to give me the Vitamin C her daughter picked up at Costco for us and she also gave us 2 doz  organic brown eggs! Such a treat!

Today is household duties one being cleaning the fridge and then go sew.

Gloria, please, you may have this snow. Yesterday it was so pretty on the trees but today I am more than happy to share. I can't imagine that amount of groceries.....how many buggies did they use? On the tv they are saying stay home as I am sure it is also on the radio but people don't listen. These are not kids either, grown, suppose to be educated people!

Bubble thank you for fixing that for me..

Better get a move on here

Enjoy your day and stay safe everyone.

Well, girls, will tell you that I've been cutting my own hair since about 8th grade. Back then it was as coarse as horse hair, enough hair for 3 heads & blue black it was so dark. I saw a photo in a magazine, first ever of this short hair. I'm sure it was awful when I got through, the gasps at school were enough to let me know I'd done something shocking. But it was such a relief to get all that weight off my head. My mother had a saying that, "if it wouldn't make a difference in 10 years, she didn't get upset." I let it grow out a few times since but it was more trouble than it was worth. I have always used a razor blade & could tell a difference if I did one snip with scissors... the blunt end from scissors would stick out until the next cut. I can count on one hand the times I paid to have it cut and (to me) it never looked right. Could hardly wait until it grew out enough to cut myself. Now that my eyes aren't as good, it is more pull each clump out & compare with the other side of my head & slide that razor blade down. No regrets, a shower & it's done for a few weeks. Just think of all the money I saved. Before I was 30 I started brushing in dye, the white hair stuck out like salt & pepper. In 20 years I was having to dye about every 10 days it grew so fast, looked like I was wearing a skull cap. So I started letting the front skip the dye & after a month or so let it all go white. My twin aunts were snow white as long as I could remember, before they were 30, Mother told me. Also remember my father's father in his coffin with a full head of snow white hair. Back in our genes the men went bald in their 20s so I was glad to just be white. At the latest funeral I noticed how many of my nephews had the shaved heads and the rest had hairlines receding way back. My own sons got the different types balding, one lost hair at the temples while the other started with the crown showing skin, both young when it started. So, that's my story of hair. Right now these cats are trying to shed their winter fur. Could make another cat with the fur floating around the floor. Do not think they would stand for a shave & haircut! Shut up, Shirley..... Gotta go eat breakfast.

This is Good Friday. Doubt if any of us ever had an Easter week like this before. Peace and love to each. Shirley

Good morning.  I thought I was here yesterday, but looked back and couldn't find anything that I had wrote.

I am trying to walk in the hallway several times a day.  Yesterday, I did make two trips down my hall and up the other way, twice. I got up early today as a nurse called last night and wanted to check come by before the week end. She did tell me that they will only come once a week starting next week.  I will also still have the PT.

It is very windy here this morning, but the sun is shining.

A friend sent me a link to a beautiful video that is so meaningful and giving hope right now.  I tried the link on another site and couldn't get it to come up.  SO, if you have time, please try to watch it.  It brought tears to my eyes.

It is a father and daughter singing the song "THE PRAYER".   It will make you feel better

Just google "MATT AND SAVANNA SHAW"  and it should come right up.  It isn't long and is just so beautiful.

Have a safe day.

Sunny and cool right now and snow is predicted.

Gloria:  I stopped drinking coffee several months ago and really miss it but must say I have no pain now.

Bubble:  How is everyone coping in your area of the world?

Shirley:  Red Rocks is famous for the Easter morning service right when the sun rises.  We used to live within walking distance of Red Rocks and our bedroom window had the same view to the east.  Loved that view with all the colorful rocks & blue sky.

Joy:  Great to hear you are moving - keep on keeping on.

This would normally be my big day at the cathedral for the Good Friday services this afternoon, but alas,it's all cancelled. But at least we are still healthy, so we give thanks for that. Our residence is very strict and we are not allowed to leave the premises. If we disobey we are put into a 14 day quarantine, so we all behave. It must be paying off because we are virus free; other homes in London have up to 20 cases reported.

Carol, same as the rest of the world, we are on house isolation - it's seems to be forever. There are new cases daily but not many in my town.
Passover was a quiet a little forlorn celebration, all alone with daughter and grand in their own place. We will see better days, hopefully soon.

Good morning. It is a beautiful sunny morning here but chilly.  We even had a frost warning last night but I don't think it actually got that cold here.  I hope the strawberries didn't get nipped.

Very quiet all around.  David said quite a few are out walking when he goes out in the afternoon.  Not much traffic.  People are out working in their yard and children are playing in the street.  Looks pretty normal in our neighborhood.

Have a lovely day.

Good morning everyone, slept great last night, woke and was surprised it was light out already.

AMY  Another one who thinks winter is back. i TURNED THE HEAT UP BEFORE i DID ANYTHING ELSE WHEN i GOT UP. Oops sorry about the caps. My computer says 40 but feels like 32 so I need the heat this morning. I still miss the lack of snow this winter but would love to have some spreing warmth now. Tired of dressing in layers to keep warm.  Boy I miss the blubber I had to keep me warm.

JANE  wonderful that you got your shirt on yesterday.  Bet it felt good to you, a milestone accomplished. My CNA shopped for me yesterday and got me a small boneless ham so I will have my Easter ham.  I think she has the wrong job, she would be a great professional shopper.

SHIRLEY  my father was white when he was 20 so must take after him. I have a sil who is a hair dresser and years ago  talked me into coloring it.  At that  time it was a beautiful gray and I likd it but after coloring it and then letting it grow out till it was long enough to cut my hair was white.

JOY I try  get outside every day and walk around the parking lot but with all the rain we had I did not get outside as much as I wanted. I could walk the halls in here but nothing to see but closed doors.

CAROL  I have given so many thing up but coffee I will still have in the mornings, 2 cups and no more during the day.

DON  so glad your building is virus free. So far this building is, too. I am surprised the manager still allows visitors in. My younger will be here this morning for his weekly visit. Thank God no one in my family has been hit with it yet. Stay safe.

LLOYD  I grew up wth home made baked beans so used to it so  no more tooting for me.

BUBBLE  I sure remember dancing like that oh so many years ago. Now I doubt I could do a slow dance.

AMY  love your gree ting this morning, love the Lily of the Valley and the aroma of them. Next to lilacs in the spring they are a favorite scent.

PHYLLIS  sunny and cold here, too. The cars in the parking lot have hardly moved in a week, CNA's are still coming in for their clients.

Yesterday on the news they showed a group from a Semiary in Fall River, Ma. walking to  7 churches in Fall River and showed them all kneeling on the stairs to a church the looked like St. Anne's but I thought that was one of them closed down.

Have a good day and stay safe.

We had a magnificent serenade surprise in our neighborhood yesterday.  A man walked our streets playing Scottish pipes.  Apparently, he has been showing up in several neighborhoods giving a sweet message of friendship.

We plan to pick up groceries this morning.  What a serious lifesaving idea.  So happy that we don't have to walk in the store.  We put in our order online.  I intend to sew some masks from my stash of cotton fabric but....there is a shortage of elastic.  Wouldn't you know!  We have a few masks in the house from Don buying them for his woodwork.  We have not had to use them ...yet.

With so many medical labs working on this, we hope and pray for a cure.  There are a few places with positive leaning results.  One of these days, we will have great news.

Good Morning,

#2 son (the half gallon Listerine deliverer  ;) ) asked me to give him a list of needs for the next 2 weeks.  He/dil went shopping this morning.  They said the grocery store parking lot was overflowing but there were very few people in Walmart- so they went there.
Of course, he brought 2 of everything but the only oversize thing was large bags of tea for ice tea instead of small ones for a cup. He couldn't find the Keurig regular tea pods.  (I need that caffeine in the morning!)  No problem:  I have some reusable pods for the Keurig that came with a measuring spoon so can open the tea bags and measure out the amount needed.  Probably get 2 cups from one tea bag.
Had to "get creative" about storing things but am now supplied for probably the rest of the month.  :smitten:

Janie,  Hooray for the shower and shirt-putting-on!  Sounds as if your recovery is progressing very well.

I grew up with baked beans prepared with:  1 can of baked beans. "some" homemade sorghum molasses (not the syrup), a a splash of Worcestershire sauce and a dollop of catsup - baked in the oven, usually with wieners slightly split at one end.  My mother was known for her "put it in the oven all at one time" meals.

First chance I have for a hair appointment will be for a razor cut.
Shirley,  I'm amazed you can do your own haircutting this way.  I'm sure I'd slice my ear off.

Carol, a bagpiper serenaded our tour group as we stood on the Red Cliffs on Orby Head in Prince Edward National Park, Nova Scotia.  He was a student at the College of Piping in Charlottetown. It was very impressive.

My church has been broadcasting Holy Week services via video on Facebook.  The only ones in the sanctuary are the two pastors, the pianist and a trio of singers - plus whoever is videoing them.  We get an e-mail on Saturday with the Order of Worship.  I was able to "participate" in the Maundy Thursday service for the first time since I stopped driving at night.

An Arctic front is supposed to move in by 2:00 p.m. tomorrow and we may have a hard freeze Monday and Tuesday. Neighbor across the street spent quite a while putting out bedding plants on Friday while it was almost 80º.  She may be replanting!

Project du Jour is to make up some slider sandwiches and put some round steak in the small slow cooker. If it won't all fit in there, I plan to brown the rest and put it in the oven with Cream of Mushroom soup. Might bake a potato to go with it.

Off I go....

Ah, finally woke up.... and here's one back attcha, Bubble.... Loved to jitterbug...loved to dance and I married someone that could NOT hear the beat to music!

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vOUYry_5Nw

Trees absolutely bending double today. Would not be a day to cut down the dry tall grass, what was planned to do. Lunch time. I did hard boil a pan of eggs this morning. NO DYE and nobody to dye for.  :tissue:  At least none of my family or friends have the virus so far. My little 3 year old stepped off something yesterday, Dad & Mom right there.... had to go to the ER & get 6 stitches in his big toe. Toe is one worry, but going to ER/germs is another whole worry. His gr-father (Andy) was in the ER about the same age for just stepping off his high chair, foot tangled & he took the fall on his chin. We waited for a couple hours for the doctor to show up & stitch his chin, that whole fatty pad dropped when the bone cut a perfect half circle. I grabbed a clean washrag, hand full of ice cubes & told him he couldn't cry because of bleeding. Held the skin  together while Cas got us to the hospital.

You guessed right, Callie, the fingers that hold the clump of hair got nicked often, but I finally got the hang after 70+ years.

I ordered me a baker's rack to hold the tins of catfood, Friskies as well as the people salmon & tuna. Got tired of hauling to the basement & running down ever day or leaving at the door to go down & tripping over it. Should be here Tuesday (good ole Amazon).

Forgot to mention that I enjoyed the dancing videos.  I loved to dance - could jitterbug and do the Latin ones but never did get the gist of the Twist.
Edit:  Never got thrown over anybody's shoulder, though!
The Speaker of the State House of Representatives, who was a friend of my parents, was our h.s. Commencement speaker in 1953.  He led the Bunny Hop with me at the after-party.
Hubby was a good dancer, except for jitterbugging, and we enjoyed some of the country/western dances when they came along.

Back to the kitchen.....

lot out of me.  But also gives me
something to do while in total

shouldn't be doing now that I am 76.

CallieOK you may sagest to your Neighbor to take some gallon cans if she can find them cut both ends out of them. stretch some heavy clear plastic over one end. and put a heavy rubber over it to hold it in place.take them off after the sun comes up, unless it is below freezing and wend is blowing hard. that should save them. have a god rest of the day.  I have some raised beds, waste high, with pbc 1/2" pipe over them and clear venial over them. a 1x2 board over them, you can role up for a little air to circulate through the day after the sun rises. works good can start radishes and lettuce. early. works good for me. I have the circumference foundation of a  green house 36 feet wide and 40 feet long laid out ready to put up the bows. and they in the high part are 12-14 feet clearance. that will let me extend the growing season on both ends, see you all later.

Good morning everyone..

Beautiful day here...a few dark clouds in the sky and 24° F.
This will be an Easter to remember as there is no getting together of family.

Sandy, Rome wasn't built in a day so cleaning can last over a few days. Take it easy and take care of yourself.

Lloyd ,interesting garden beds!

Gloria, if you lived next door you would have a loaf of bread I made yesterday. One for us ,one for the freezer and one to give away.

Callie, I tried to shop in the morning yesterday and both grocery stores had long line ups. Went back around 4 and one had a line up but the other one didn't. I can't imagine when summer comes and tourists (that  have been told to stay home) get here.

Phyliss, I hope to soon work in the garden but the weather has to warm up a lot more.
Jane, hope you had a fantastic nights sleep.

Better get a move on .

Enjoy your day everyone.

This really is the most unusual Easter of my 85 years. If some evil force had contrived to prevent Christians from celebrating this Holy Day, they could not have found a better way. The whole world has fallen under the pressure a virus that can't be seen, that is a mystery to scientists, and caused more fear than past wars. As the next 24 hours passes, I will contemplate these facts and pray that all that is good will win, that the fear leaves our thoughts, that we can find a way to help each other. Peace Be With You.

Bubble, that is the most amazing dancing/gymnastics I've ever seen! Can you imagine the practice it took to get those moves so perfect?  Thanks!

It also occurred to me that Christians aren't the only people being denied "religious freedom" at this time, others that I know very little about are also sacrificing.  Hugs, thanks to you and sympathy for what your country, family is going through.

You are so right, Phyllis. Can you imagine how lonely people must be without a computer or phone to stay in touch? Much to be thankful for!

I agree with Phyllis, we will celebrate Easter, not in our usual way but as June would say thanks be to God we will celebrate. No matter where we are, how humble we are....we will celebrate. God has made us a force to be reckoned with.

Happy Easter!  We have snow and lost power two times this morning.  We are scheduled to chat online at the same time with our four children plus grands - it is called Zoom.  Otherwise, we have used SKYPE for many years.

Jenny:  I am so sorry you had to cancel your flight.

Stay safe everyone.

Good morning everyone, well it is now after 11 am. I woke just after 10 this morning and was shocked when I saw the time. Just had a call from my older son an he is bringing me dinner. I know it will be a short visit.

CAROL  yesterday whe had a bandana on for a mask. He has so many of them he uses a different one all the time. He always had trouble breathing with a mask on and now wearing glasses the glasses steam up and he has to romove them.

AMY  oh boy I know how that first shower feels after I had my shoulder surgery.

AMY  my daughter told me yesterday she went hunt ing through all her sewing things that were not looke at since they moved and found some elasic so now she can get busy making some masks.

SHIRLEY  In the Mood was one I loved dancing to, those days are so well gone now. I remember Scott Hamilton  Olympic gold winner skate to it. Boy what a bundle of energy he was.

AMY  I sent your graphic to my daughter. Thanks for all the nice things you post every morning, look forward top them. Your Happy Easter was a keeper.

SHIRLEY  if this virus is the way for the human world to end it is a miserable way to suffer. Being isolated from others is terrible.

BUBBLE  I would never be able to do that even when I was young and agile.

Happy Easter Everyone

Have a good day and stay safe.

Happy Easter,

I just finished watching the service from my own church via a Facebook video.  Very simplified but all the "elements" were included.

It's a cloudy, damp, gloomy, "squeaky-creaky" day and an Arctic Front is supposed to arrive early afternoon that will drop the temperatures into the 30's.  :(
(Thanks, Carol and Jenny, for sharing!  ;D )

I woke up much earlier than intended so have already read the paper and met the Daily Challenge/Daily Goals on my Solitude games.  What now?

Well, shucks, I had a much too long post that went away. I remember what happened, phone rang & instead of hitting post a 2nd time, I "offed" the site!

Gloria, I was going on & on about the neat card & that I read all the extra information about the Faberge' eggs. Wouldn't you love to actually see one of those eggs?  We had a history teacher in 3rd & 4th grades that had visited the royal palace where the Russian Tsar & family was killed, she was there not too long after the revolution when their blood was still on the walls where they were murdered. That was my first information about the Faberge' eggs and over the years I read everything I could about them. That teacher traveled the world and brought back the love of history & geography to us. I'm sure she was never told how much she meant. Thanks for the card, hope your meal was nice.

I have not watched the Easter service from my church yet... had naps, phone calls and #2 son sent a text to "check my front porch". He left a basket full of goodies, brought tears to my eyes that he did it.

Bubble, that dance was something to watch! I can only imagine how much practice it took to have all those steps so perfect. Sometimes I can't get the links to work so really pleased this one did. Now I want to copy it so I can send to my daughter, she was captain of the drill team in high school & college and will appreciate how good they are. Wishing you & yours a Happy Passover. Have you ever been so alone for one?

Before I lose this post, better stop to resize, etc. Wishing each pleasant dreams. Shirley

🐥 HAPPY EASTER, EVERYFRIEND 🐥

Like many have stated, this was one very different Easter for all of us.

We watched two different services on the TV.  Appreciated having them to watch, but it just was not right😩😢. This morning I had a bit of a pity party, I am sorry to admit.  I think the snow and gloominess had a lot to do with it😢.

We talked to all of the family and FaceTime'd with all 4 sons and their families. Everyone is doing well, and getting through this quarantine time the best they can.  I am proud of all of them as they have not ventured out of the home except for Dave to go to work, and Michele to go to chemo and associated appointments.  Tomorrow Michele has to go for her PET scan...🙏🙏🙏.

It seems all of you had a nice day.  How sweet.

CAROL, I have tried to find out if there is a way to know when and where the nice man that plays the Bag Pipes will be.  So happy you were able to see and hear him.  I hope he will choose our community to come play as well.  I read a lot about him and he sure is appreciated. Sorry to read about your power outage.  We did not have one here....but I did hear of other areas that did.

Thank you, AMY, for the nice goodies you had for us today.

Thank you, BUBBLE, for the video......WOW, that was something else to watch, and I really enjoyed it.  I am sorry you, your daughter and grandson had to spend Passover apart😢😢. We have friends that were on a world wide cruise on the Queen Mary 2.  This morning she posted that she enjoyed her time in Israel more than any other place they visited.  She love the Holy Land.  She shared so many wonderful pictures each day of hat they were seeing.

SHIRLEY, how nice to read about your surprise drop off from your son. Sorry to read about the 3 year old randSon having to go for stitches.  Oh my.  We have a friend that is the head of Emergency Centers here in the Denver area and she said they have had to lay off so many doctors and staff as they just have no business.  Not many accident, car or people.... and no one wants to go to the ER. The hospitals here in the metro area are just not that full.  They have made a 350 bed hospital in our convention center and at this point they do not even think they will need it...but it is there and ready if they do!  We heard one of the ones they set up in the Seattle area was taken down as it was never used.

Thank you GLORIA, for the nice Easter Card.

I am sorry, but I had best post this before I loose it.

Sleep well and bless you all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone, I knew I would not g much sleep last night after sleeping so good Saturday night. My son brought me a bunch of containers yeserday and I have enough for 2 more meals. I really enjoyed the ham, I had been longing for some and not just  the slices one can get in the markets.

SHIRLEY  those Faberge eggs are something aren't they? The way the Russian dancer jmped I wondered if they had springs in their shoes.

LLOYD  we have a wind warning for today with winds so strong there will be trees toppled and branches broken. We had a sunny morning yesterdy but clouded up in the afternoon.

JENNY  I saw both sons over the week end and of course saw my daughter on Skype. I was surprised yesterday that son was growing a beard. Told me his razor is in quarantine. It is all white like my  other son's beard.

Looks like I an too early for everyone this morning. Hope you all wake refreshed after a night of sleeping well.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, Gloria! I woke at 4:00 am but didn't get up until 5:00. Cats fed & now my turn. All I need to is pop my bowl of ham & scrambled egg gravy into the microwave for a few minutes, make toast & enjoy. Growing up we always ate milk gravy on white bread toast instead of biscuits, so this is a real treat. Cas always wanted his gravy on biscuits (like his Mother made, but mine were never as melt in your mouth as hers).

Anyway, my baker's rack is out for delivery (day early) so that will be the project if it arrives before dark tonight. I'm guessing it will be a lot of little pieces to screw together so will go give my power drill a try. I have not actually used it but Andy tells me it does have the screwdriver bit for the job. He gave it to me for Christmas & has used it when here, (to make sure it works okay....} so now my turn. I've always used Cas' tools but knew he would take care of maintenance (oil, etc)... I have a battery powered saw to cut down the tall grass but am pretty sure it needs oil on the saw teeth & don't remember what kind so used the "loppers" to cut off some. Elbow grease is all needed to use those.  :-\  But I ran out before the job was finished. My lawn guys don't do that kind of work and have not been able to find help that does. My boys have their own houses to take care of & if I'm going to stay in this house, I want to handle maintenance (except for the unexpected jobs).  ::)

I'll bet another early bird or two will be here when I post... Have a great Easter Monday!

I'm awake and keeping one eye on the sky.  We are under a tornado watch and it is raining and very windy right now.  My fingers and toes are crossed....I HATE wind.

Easter dinner was nice but I was really tired after all the prep. and cooking so I'm taking it easy today.  The ham was really good and I will portion it today and put the pkgs. in the freezer.  We will have ham for months!.....Let's think now: ham and beans, ham and scrambled eggs, ham loaf, ham and potato soup, ham omelet, ham and scalloped potato casserole, ham frittata, ham biscuits, ham and cheese sandwiches, ham and......

Stay safe, All.  ......ham timbales, ham sliders, ham salad, ham.......

"Where there's a Will (Janie), there's a Way!"  Great Job, Miss J.

My neighborhood - including my yard - looks really weird with sheets, newspapers and such covering all the shrubs and the bedding plants some put in last Saturday, when it was 80º.  Hasn't gotten above 45 today, we're supposed to have a hard freeze tonight - and a dusting of snow tomorrow morning.  :idiot2:

My third-grader great niece in Texas is being "home schooled" by her teacher Mom right now.  Her Mom texted that she is learning to write letters and needed a pen pal.  Of course, Great-Aunt Callie was glad to help.  I got the first letter from her on Friday.  She did a really good job and included a comment about a book she'd read - then asked a family history question that went along with the story.
So I've spent the afternoon looking in genealogy albums to be sure I had the details right and writing a reply.
I told her I'd read "Mary Poppins" and "The Story of Dr. Doolittle" when I was her age and asked if she'd seen the movies.  Then I told her the actors sure don't look like the illustrations in the old books.

Phyllis,  love all your suggestions for using ham.  I really like ham loaf and have several good recipes for it.  Do you grind your own ham when you make it?  We used to be able to buy a ham and have some of it ground by the meat department but now I'm told they only prepare fresh ground pork - no "off the shelf" .

Years ago, I went on a tour with the OKC Museum of Art to see a "Faberge In America" exhibit in New Orleans. Items were Faberge items owned by Americans. The brochure (yes, I have a scrapbook  ;) ) says "A stunning collection of nearly 400 precious objects, including 15 of the legendary Imperial Easter eggs..."    I have a post card with a picture of one that had a miniature stagecoach inside.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has had as Merry a Monday as possible.
Onward and Upward....

JaneS now you know first hand like CallieOK told you where there is a way there a will . when I had my jaw broke and wired mouth shut ( that year  we had a lot of peaches canned) I of course could not open my mouth to bite on the food. so I borrowed a blender quart jar fits right on the blinder cuter Knifes. so liquefied the peaches, and sucked them through a straw. Gained weight also. in spite of that I still love to eat peaches. just do not eat them as steady or regular as or that, but dose not bother me to eat them three or four times a week for dessert. good night and sweet dreams.

Callie, I'll grind the ham providing I can find my old-fashioned hand cranked grinder.  I could grind it in the Kitchen Aid with the grinding attachment but that is so heavy I can't move it anymore.  As a last result I could use the food processor even though I don't like the consistency of the finished product as much.  I managed to get all of the ham separated into smaller portions, wrapped and into the freezer.  What a job but we have several weeks of ham to use now.  Also, today I found an on-line source for mixed dried beans for ham and bean soup and ordered 2 lbs. to be mailed to me.  I tried to get dried beans here in the store but not available.

I told David that I have become food obsessed!  :o  And now that I am reading in the news that the meat supply is becoming endangered I am even more aware of the need to keep the freezer well stocked.  I'm not hoarding because I don't have the room to store huge stockpiles of stuff but I want to keep bare spots from appearing, if I can.

Take care, All.

Hello everyone, YIPEE my Cox just came back on. We had a slorm with heavy rain and very strong winds. TV, Computer and phone went out about 3 pm and it just came on now  at  11:15. I wonder what my daughter thought when I was ot on Skype and couldn't call me either.
I was really going crazy with nothing to do or to read either. All I had was the games I have on the computer. Then they were sluggish and jumpy so no fun there either.
My CNA will be here soon so do t have much time to chat. Phone just rang and like a dope I picked it up - a sales pitch so I hung up. Glad to hear it ring though and know it is working again.

Have a good day and keep safe.

Good Morning,

Weather news last night showed snow falling not too far north of me.  Today isn't quite as cold as I expected. Not sure we actually had the hard freeze predicted for last night.

Years and years ago, there was a humor book titled "What To Do When There's Nothing To Do".  The only suggestion I remember is "Fling open the screen door and see how far you can run before it slams shut."
That wouldn't work today.....in so many ways!!!!  ;D

Phyllis,  my mother had a meat grinder that fastened onto the kitchen counter.  Not sure I could turn the handle if I had it today.  I agree about trying to grind meat in the food processor.  It's more like paste.  I do have a ham steak that's way too big for one meal.  I suppose the Project du Jour could be to cut it in - maybe thirds - and do something different with each piece.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere as much of an Enjoyable Day as possible.

Onward and Upward...

I've adopted a new line to live by, thanks to my friends in this forum. if I choose to try doing something fo myself I tell myself "Where there's a will, there's a way"  thank you, Callie for that!

this morning I managed to get out my electric frying pan and I cooked up the rest of the pound of bacon and did two round eggs for egg mcmuffin. I had one of them for lunch.  then I baked an Impossible Coconut CUSTARD PIE.  I needed my will for this one because I almost gave up when I remembered i'd have a full pie plate of liquid to move from the counter to the oven with one hand!  but I got out a cookie sheet, lined it with aluminum foil, set it on the oven rack added the pie plate and filled it there!  anyone for a piece of pie?

now i'm ready for a nap!

We had a record setting temperature of 11 degrees.  Nothing to be proud of - of course, my first thoughts are of the huge number of people in tents and the children.

Gloria:  Thank you for the beautiful card.  So thoughtful!

Jenny:  I wonder if the bagpiper couldn't get through the gate?  I hope you two can stay warm in the house and rest up - thinking of you and all the challenges.

I am taking all this "down time" and trying to make myself organize one spot or closet at a time.  I need to pick up prescriptions and darn - have to enter the store I suppose.  the worst thing in when people want to stand close - that has always been annoying to me.  I suppose it is all the Scandinavian blood  :D

Well, the snow did stop and the roads seemed a bit better. Highway lads were salting the roads when I left for town. Work is almost done on the vehicle..need a new gas cap and will get that on Thur.

I did try to shop at 7 am but the line up was way around the building and I had an 8 am appointment. May try tomorrow morning be there for 7 for the 8 am opening?? Gosh this is no fun.

Just had a call from my niece...they are in their new home and on the second day fell down the stairs and now has a badly sprained ankle. The Dr told her he hasn't seen a sprain as bad as what she has.

Jane, good going!! Just don't over do it and set yourself back..pie sounds yummy!!

Thanks for the link to the photo of Mary Ann, she is looking good and hope will be back to visiting with us soon.

Amy, I had a bad sprain with whole foot and ankle (Dr said may have cracked a bone but couldn't see it)... since I was planning a trip to the mountains I soaked it with Epsom salt really good & was mended faster than expected. That was the last time I tried sticking the whole foot & ankle in a tub of water. I learned it worked just as well wrapping a towel soaked in strong Epsom salt around, then putting the foot/ankle into a plastic bag & wrap the heat pad over that. Watch TV for a couple hours  & repeat using same salt & towel as often as possible. When Cas got "tennis elbow" in his wrist he would soak for couple hours while watching TV & no pain next morning when he wanted to play golf. It really does work. If it can get rid of a brown spider bite and leave no scar, you know it is powerful.

Sweet dreams, I am worn to a frazzle tonight so off to bed.
