I have lived through wars..
Never on homeland shores..
I always looked at refugees..
And thought to myself...
Glad, thats not me or mine..
But that was back ..Such a long long time..

Once very long ago..
I looked forward to seeing my Grandchildren, grow!

Now I wonder, to myself..
How long must this nightmare, last?

I demand ...It go away!
Yet it refuses..
It wants to stay..
It wants me to feel..
What I feel deep inside...
I do not wish..To see any child die..
To look in the eye's..Of the "Walking Dead"..

I suppose I could..
"Just take to my bed"..
Pull the covers up.. the shades all down..
But then I know
..Why I am still around!..
I am here to instill in mine..
Hope and strength..
And a "Belief" in a better time..
That will soon come again..
We just are not sure. exactly when!
So lets live and be happy and gay..
After all tomorrow is another day..

LIFE
The horse and mule live 30 years
And nothing know of wines and beers.

The goat and sheep at 20 die
And never taste Scotch or Rye.

The cow drinks water by the ton
And at 18 is mostly done.

The dog at 15 cashes in
Without the aid of rum or gin.

The cat in milk and water soaks
And then at 12 short years it croaks.

The modest, sober, bone-dry hen
Lays eggs for noggs, then dies at 10.

All animals are strictly dry:
They sinless live and swiftly die;

But sinful, ginful, rum-soaked men
Survive for threescore years and 10.

And some of them, a very few,
Stay pickled till they are a 100 and 2.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

And so it goes.... Bubble, thought provoking writings today, so very true. Thank you. First time I saw pink dogwood was about 30+ years ago when we moved to Leawood, KS. We watched for wild dogwood along the highway when driving to Grandma's house when I was very young. Such a treat to see, we knew every tree location and delighted to see each one blooming in the spring. But never knew they came in pink. Only one living tree in the whole city that I know of here, and I didn't see it bloom this year. I forgot to look. Beautiful graphic.

Don't know if I mentioned that I did get the baker's rack put together yesterday. I was so tired by the time it was done I fell into bed last night. Had 2 problems, one screw would not line up so had to loosen all the others until it could move enough, some things you can't bully. When I got to the part of adding the top half, the back square legs fit inside each other and one leg had a big glob of solder inside. I searched downstairs & in the garage for the small metal file I knew we have....somewhere... gave up & used a wood file & ground off enough of that solder so enough Vaseline it slipped into place. Wore myself out searching & pushing but got the job done. It turned out to be much sturdier than I hoped & holds more than expected so I am really happy. And vow to NEVER buy anything that needs to be assembled again!

Today is store day, need bread for the fish. They are back in full force and waiting for me when I get to the bank. I start to whistle as I go down the hill, so whatever comes to eat the table scraps I take down will know food is on the way, and the fish are circling in the water at the end of my path. I can get a large sandwich loaf for 88¢, will give them half a loaf.  One pair of geese flies over for a few bites, they recognize the whistle, are nesting on the other side. I used to by half a rack at the day old bread store but don't have a van to haul it in anymore. They don't depend on the bread to survive, don't want to do that, but they enjoy a treat every day. So that's the plan for today and even though more than 10 will gather, not a problem!

Good morning everyone, boy it was so good up till after 1am last night checking out every thing this PC. Every time Cox does something my computer changes and I do not like it. My email is srill messed up and I have a heck of a time seeing photos anyone sends me. Wish I could get rid of cox and get a different carrier but no way will this building allow it.

CALLIE  my Mom had one of t hose grinders and I wish I had it. I liked  that  better than the food processor my kids gave me.

JANE  if you put a lot of coconut in that pie I will enjoy a piece of it.

CAROL  I dislike people getting too close to me, especially strangers.

AMY  a bad sprain can take longer than a break to heal. I spraind an ankle the beginning of June one year and spent the whole summer using crutches getting around with 3 young kids.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new page, beautiful graphics and especially Life. Gee maybe I should start drinking and getting "pickled" to live longer than the 89 years I am ? Nah this life has been long enough.

SHIRLEY  qwhen I tell anyone how you whistle for the fish they never belive me. Only you could do something like that.

Better go get dressed and get ready for my CNA. Today is laundry day. Hope with no bus to take them to the market the laundry room will not be busy.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning,

Bubble, thank you for the lovely art.  Talented artist!   ;D at the Life description.

Shirley, bread aisles are the most empty ones at our grocery store.  You'd probably be in real trouble around here if you mentioned buying it to feed fish!

Gloria, I love my food processor for everything except slicing and grinding.

#1 son is one of the 255 OKC people laid off by Hertz yesterday.  He wasn't surprised.  He had been furloughed earlier in March and didn't expect to be hired back because he's in that age group that's too frequently let go so a younger person can be hired for less salary.
I'm sure they'll be okay but it's still worrisome for a mom/mil/grandmother.

However, the sun is shining and I baked cookies yesterday.
Onward and Upward....

SHIRLEY, happy you got your bakers rack put together...not easy with only two hands....glad you are pleased with it.

Two big HAPPYS today

Happy Birthday to Gloria (I never know until someone mentions, but good wishes for a healthy year still stand)

Happy & Three Cheers for a good report for Michele!

Callie, found the bread aisle full and now fish are full. So many tonight I gave them a whole loaf. One goose came across, guess the mate is sitting on a nest. This one ate out of my hands.

Nearly dark so will get ready for bed. Cats didn't eat half their supper, not sure why. I must try to get the flea & tick stuff on them tomorrow, pretty sure I saw a flea on Callie's white fur when we were at the river tonight. That is such a job, to hold onto each one and squeeze the stuff on the back of their neck. Will have to catch each one alone to doctor so the others don't run & hide. Always something~~

Good morning everyone, I think winter is back  this morning and I just turned the heat up.  I am ready for the upper 60' or low 70 in the daytime.

CALLIE  you are right about the bread aisle. My CNA went to the market for the client she has before me in the morning and they were just  loading the shelves with bread so she got me a loaf. I had been without bread for a week. Never thought I would miss having bread so much. My #2 son was laid off a couple of weeks ago and is already bored. He has cleaned the leaves up and the garage is once again in order. Wonder what he will tackle next.

AMY  thank you, I said nothing about  it and hoped no one would know. One more year and I will be 90. I did have a surprise las night when my grandson called me and told me to turn Skype on because he had someone who wanted to talk to me. OK I did and then there was my great grandsoing wishing me a happy birthday. He is quite a monkey. He was sitting on the couch between his parents and patting his Dads hair and then his own. He has the rosiest cheeks I ever saw on anyone. Makes me want to squeeze him. He gets that when I see him and he loves it.

JENNY  thank you.So glad Michele finally had some good news. She is a fighter to work so hard fighting to stay alive Life is so precious especially when you have young children.

SHIRLEY  I was quiet about my birthday, I don;t like a fuss made over me. Then again feels good to have my friends remember. Got phone calls from both sons and grandson and my daughter on Skype. When I answered the phone with #1 son's call he and my DIL (second daughter) started singing Happy Birthday.

LLOYD  I think we all want to see each other tomorrow. Sure do not want to lose any of our Cyber Family do we?

JANE  sad isn't it when you have to talk to a family member through a window? Our governor said yesterday she wants everyone to wear a mask when they go out.  So far I have seen 4  in this building with a mask on. My CNA wears one when she enters this building and gloves also. She takes the mask off when she comes in my door. She does wear gloves for every thing now. Yesterday the manager-the witch- came out here with some papers for me to sign for another year here. She had a mask on and waited in the hall for me to sign them. Now she will bring up the last paper for me to sign. She wants no one in her office.

LLOYD  sorry about your son's MIL. Sad to have to sit in the car while the preacher talked.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Yesterday was busy, interesting and tiring too.
I did manage to get grocery shopping,  Stood in line from 7:30 for 6:00 opening. We were there for 7 but I stayed in the vehicle until others started to trickle in and it didn't take long for a line up to snake out onto the parking lot.
Then it was home to put away and get started on sewing..
Talked with a friend and she told me her daughter had COVID _19. What a time she went through but lives to tell about it. The virus has hit nursing homes with a vengeance here and no let up in sight.
Today is back to the garage to get a gas cap replaced then home to sew.

Shirley, thank you I will pass the Epson salt treatment to my niece. She is one go getter and I doubt this will slow her down much. Mentioned to her that rest is better for it at moment so it will heal  but being in a new home I am sure she won't listen to everyone telling her the same thing.

Bubble ,thank you for the new start, always love your graphics and pearls of wisdom.

Gloria, no snow today!! We had snow off and on all day yesterday. Sure hope that is the end of it.

Jenny.....love hearing good news about Michele. Lets hope this is the turn around for this dreaded disease!! There is power in prayer!

Lloyd, I am so sorry to read of your son and daughter in laws loss.  Condolences to the family.

Callie, do we ever stop worrying about our children? We know they are capable of looking after themselves but we still worry.

Jane ,hope you also get good news about your arm.

Stay safe everyone and enjoy your day.

Good Morning from the
Sunny and cool,  rocky coast of Maine.

I am so happy to read that Michelle
has some good news for a change, Jenny.
May this good news continue until she
is able to stop chemo and get back
to normal.

Shirley... You sound like me trying
to put things together and moving
things around until they are where
I like them,  at least for now.

Of course tomorrows another day
and I might  just be tempted to
re arrange again.

Right now I am up and doing as
much hand laundry as possible..
so that I don't have to go down
to the laundry room...I am trying
very hard to stay isolated... not
easy to do but worth the effort.

Have a good day everyone,
and stay safe.

Sunny and chilly here today.  Bright but the day is even brighter with the good news about Michelle, Jenny.  So glad for her and her family and for you.

All is OK here.  We are managing to stay occupied with one thing or another.  And, most importantly, we are staying well.  I hope all of you are, too.

I got 7 hours & 21 min sleep last night but only 7 min of deep sleep, no joke to say "I sleep with one eye open". Been that way all my life so guess not going to change now that Fitbit tells me.

Chilly this morning so my yard work will wait for a few hours. I remembered to ask Andy what kind of oil to use on the hedge trimmer so will use it. Want to get the job done before the yard guys come & hope their mower picks up the little pieces of the tall grass.I also need to rake leaves off the lily of the valley, think mostly pin oak leaves but also some others that the mowers have disturbed down the street, but don't pick up. The way this house sits, all leaves gather at the 2 rail fence going up the sidewalk to my front porch! Things you don't notice when buying a house!  ::)

Lloyd, sorry about your son's mother in law.... so sad how the last days of life and funerals are right now. I am thankful my brother's funeral was before the close down because it does help to have a crowd of loving people around sharing hugs and tears.

Jane, hope the doctor has nothing but good about your arm.... yard work looms.... :-\

Amy, keep meaning to ask you how you create the graphics... do you use PSP?  Always a treat. Have you been making masks?  My daughter in law made enough for all the family, she is neat with everything she does. I carry mine in my purse, just doesn't work well with allergies & dripping nose!

Sandy, I was actually thinking of you when putting the rack together, of how you organized your van before heading cross country. How many years ago was that?  You & Bobbi, how I envied you waking up in different states.

Gloria, glad you had a nice birthday & got to see the little one (even if on Skype). How old is he now? From what I hear, my great grands are loving having Mom & Dad home all day.

Wow, Callie(cat) just came back inside and think she must have found something stinky to roll in! Yuck... and the morning went from bright sunshine to total cloud cover & wind picking up. Better have a look at radar. Will check in later.  Wishing all a Thuper Thursday...

Hi, Phyllis, better not stop to talk, having a typical KS morning. No mountains to stop wind from blowing in another front so weather changes by the hour.

Good morning.  Sunny, but chilly.

Gloria,  I want to wish you a very belated birthday.  I know I am the same way about birthdays.  Don't like a big fuss made.  Mine is the first part of May, and I am sure there will be no big fuss made over it.  I am not far behind you !!!!

Jane, sure hope your appointment about your shoulder will go well.  You can take the whole rest of the evening to relax and rest.  Stop and get something special for your dinner, as a treat.  Whenever I go to most of my appointments, I will stop and usually go to Pop Eye's for their fried chicken.  That is a treat for me.

Hope everyone is still hanging in there.  I heard this morning that this keeping away from people might last until 2021.  We will all be crazy by that time.

Glad to hear the good news about Michele.  She is a fighter !!!

Wish everyone a healthy and safe day.

Joy

Sandy, I was actually thinking of you when putting the rack together, of how you organized your van before heading cross country. How many years ago was that?  You & Bobbi, how I envied you waking up in different states.

The years are flying by.
I spent most of 2011 on the road, crossing the
country and living in Port Townsend, Washington.

That is nine years ago..  Wow..
How the time does fly by the older
I get!!!

I never regretted that trip...
If I were to do it over again,  I
would want to go with a
partner..

I would have been able to do
more with out being afraid.   I
always felt nervous when I had
to leave the van.  Even in parking lots
as what would I have done if
someone stole it.    So I saw a lot
on the road,  and then when I got me
an apartment in Port Townsend I was
able to relax and enjoy that area
of the country, do more and  see more,

Great Trip of my lifetime.

I can not believe I lost my post again today.......

Cold and snowy here in my world ❄️❄️❄️❄️  They say we are going to warm up now and I sure hope they are right🌞🌞

I thanked you ALL for your kind words of support regarding the good news from Michele's PET Scan......appreciate your support so much!

Granddaughter Kate is dancing in a virtual contest today, and I lost my post as I attempted to change screens to see her first dance.....These are past dance competitions being redone and graded again....seems a bit crazy, but it gives the dancers something to watch and the grandma's too.

JANE, I do hope your appointment went well at the doctor today and you did not get totally wiped out🥰

LLOYD, condolences to your son and DIL in the passing of her mother to this darn Covid virus.  How sad to have to be alone at this very sad time and not even able do do a burial.

Very fond memories of your day son the road, SANDY😘

We just learned on of our favorite Denver Bronco player, Von Miller, has the virus.  🙏

I know I said a lot more....I always do, but I best post this now before I do something dumb again and loose it.

Have a good rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

A sad sidebar to the virus crisis happened this week when a lady in our residence put her husband in the hospital. He died a couple of days ago and the quarantine rules forbid her to go to the hospital to grieve and forbid any family members to visit her here. We are trying to console here as best we can.

Good morning everyone, I rt hink winter is coming back, 32 and feels like 25. I went to sleep listening to the wind blowing again. Tomorrow night we have snow in the forecast. Weather guessers say that we will need shovels for this. Good heavens, this is what we will have for spring after a mild winter?. Maybe that is why I rather have the cold and lots of snow in winter, more normal in this New England winters.

JANE  hope your doctor visit went good yesterday and did not wear you out too much.

AMY  that COV 19 has hit a nursing home in this town, the best place around here. All the hursing homes have been closed to visitors for awhile so they are saying a staff member must have spread it. I am surprised this building is still open to visitors but not as many coming in as usual. There are notes all over in here to limit visitors.

SANDY  you sound like I used to be with moving things around and rearranging the furniture.  I have lived in 3 roo apartments for more years of my life than  I care to think about but this one is the smallest one and cannot move anything. Where it is is where it stays. Then again I am not as strong as I used to be either.

SHIRLEY  when your Lily of the Valley blooms have a good smell of them for me. I love the aroma of them but have not seen any in years. Those and lilacs in bloom tell me spring is really here. The Forsythia is all in bloom now and they are spring, too. With snow in the forecast for tomorrow night it sure doesn't seem like spring. My little one told me he is 4 when I talked to him on Skype. He will be 5 in July. My daughter lives in mountains but the wind blows from all directions. It still surprises her to be outside with a south wind to have it suddenly come in a different direction. They both spend a lot of time outside now that they can enjoy the peace and quiet.

JOY  glad someone else feels like me abot birthdays. It is just another day and only 1 day older than the day before. I have a feeling this will las all summer, wonder what the heat and humidity will do to this monster of a virus. No one knows if it will be seasonal or a year long thing.

LLOYD  so you are the one sending snow in this direction for tomorrow night. I like snow but in the right season-winter.

SANDY  you and Bobbie both spent time seeing our country and I used to long to do the same thing.

JENNY  since Cox updated and gave us all new boxes I have had computer problems, especially with email. I never had a problem wih graphics before but now it is hard getting them to open.

DON  I sued to write my replis on paper and they try to type in the post box, could not read my own writing and then Oscar  told me about using the notepa andd have used it since. Now at times I wil have all my reolies on notepad and the whole thing just is gone and I have not done anything. This virus is causisng problems for all of us all over the world. So sad.

LLOYD  oh those good old days when we were young and agile. Now I have to use a rollator to walk around and cannot even stand long enough to cook a meal for myself.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I have to tell you that for the first tim since I fell, I'm typing with two hans!  My fingers have been working well for a while and I found I can reach out far enough to reach the keyboard!  I'm amazed!

Yesterday was a full day.  It started with a shower while Cathy was here in the morning and then I got dressed for my appt with my chiropractor.  On our drive up there, we have to go over a small mountain and as we approached it, it began to snow.  Cathy stopped and checked the weather where we were going and it wasn't threatening so she kept going.  As we cleared the mountain top and started down the other side, the sun was shining and the road was clear.

The appt was fruitful. She was able to relieve all the pains that had been associated with the fall including the one in my neck.  Since the break is not yet healed, she didn't do anything on that arm but I have another appt the end of he month. I slept better last night than I have since I fell. (I think I already said that but bear with me)

I have my list made up of things that have to be done today and I better get started or I'll never make it.

I hope you all have a healthy, happy day!  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone..

I did try to shop but the line up said no to me. So now it is  back home and sewing. Made a pot of beef barley soup yesterday so the is one meal not to figure out the other meal.

Shirly, I just get the photos on line but now have to figure out how to make them smaller.. Yes I have been making masks....there is a call for them at the hospitals. Trying a new pattern today so we shall see how that works out.

Gloria ,we woke up to a light dusting of snow and now it is sunny and cold. Temp is 28°F at the moment.

Better get going

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning,  Gloria, Lloyd, Jane and Amy.

Jane, so glad your appointment went well and you had a good night's sleep.

Gloria,  our building still is letting family members in if they are helping  their family member with groceries or other things. They just don't want a lot of people in and out.  Delivery people and medical helpers are allowed.

I still have a nurse and the PT coming in once a week.  I get a telephone visit another day.  They just ask a lot of question's to make sure I am doing ok.  I am trying to do at least 2 walks up and down the hallway and my exercises.  I do them after lunch.  I still need to get dressed and  make the bed.  The nurse isn't due until after 3 this afternoon.

I am just so glad that I got out of the rehab place when I did.  I have not heard whether they have any problems there with patients being sick.  Someone called me the other day to see how I was doing, and I was going to ask, but thought they probably wouldn't have told me anything.

I also am so glad that I made the decision to come back to my place instead of going to an asst. living place. I keep thinking I would have been in a strange place, not knowing anybody, and probably confined to my room by myself.  I haven't mentioned that to my family.  I am making out well on my own.  I just am being very cautious.  Not trying to rush doing anything. Just will be so happy when all this mess is over with.  And, that is something nobody really knows.  It is something that none of us will ever forget.

I better get myself up and moving.  Please have a safe day !!

Joy

Good Morning Everyone,
from the cool but partly sunny,
rocky coast of Maine.

My biggest problem with my lower
vision is that I had to learn how
to slow down...

Not Easy!

Using my Drive Rollator forces me
to pay attention and to go slower,
but still allows me to move right
along when I use it out in public.

I am fine around my apartment,
as long as I keep my moving
about on the floor area uncluttered.

And now that I am isolated,
I don't have to concern myself
about visitors leaving stuff
on the floor where I could
trip over them.

I only know of one person that
has covid-19 and that is my friend
Vicki's  Sister,  who is in
a Rehab facility...  As we have
heard nursing homes and such
are being very much affected
by this terrible viral pandemic.

Best wishes to everyone.

Sandy

I've had a busy day!  Emptied all the trash cans in the house and had a bag full when my son came by to take Mickie for her noon walk.  When he left he took it with him to deposit in the dumpster behind his store.

Then I peeled a bunch of potatoes that were beginning to sprout and got them ready to bake with some carrots and onions for supper.  I took a meat loaf out of the freezer and supper was ready to be baked.  It all turned out pretty good!

I also did a bunch of stuff on the computer...paid some bill, placed some orders, looked up some stuff, made a shopping list...

I told Cathy to stay home this afternoon.  I think she wore herself out yesterday with the trip and some shopping on the way home.  Now I'm ready for bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Well, I have something nasty.... but think it a gall bladder attack. Up the entire night with pain under ribs & "hurled" a number of times. Only time in my life I've thrown up was when pregnant & I am pretty sure that is NOT the problem now. Of all dumb things, I got a can of tamales at Walmart this week, sounded good for the evening meal the night before but my tummy did not approve. Last night I ate the rest of the can since all I had to do was put the Pyrex bowl in the microwave. Big mistake. I never ever had the pain under the ribs like that, was up every few minutes to head to the bathroom. Usually I have to wait until food goes through my whole system but was totally blocked. Besides the tamales, I ate about half a Russell Stover chocolate bunny and made a pot of fresh coffee that is not on the recommended list for gall bladder issures. To make it worse, head aches like a couple months ago so know that is infected sinuses. Okay, too much detail. By the time I called the doctor this afternoon & he called me back, I had not eaten anything & only a few sips of water, but no throwing up since morning so think I am on the mend. He "talks me down" and suggested no more of the harsh stuff & go to liquid diet today & mild tomorrow. Reasonably sure it is gall bladder but this virus also starts with tummy issues so time will tell. I slept most of the day since no sleep at all last night, so one day at a time, right? I've been typing at this since noonish so will post & check in tomorrow.

Sandy, blowing my knee has brought a new understanding about slowing down. I am very careful how I plant each foot to make sure the knee isn't in a twist. Until I get these glasses fixed I am struggling with blurred vision where I walk (they work good for driving). Have to take them off to get on the computer or watch TV up close (like my kitchen corner one). I am thrilled to see this well without having the cataracts removed.

I have to find a can of chicken noodle soup & may need a trip to the RV. The headache is some better so maybe the caffeine withdrawal is over. I finally got down the last little corner of one soda cracker & about 2/3 of a bottle of water.  All I consumed today. Will work on that tomorrow.

Good night, Janie, so glad to see how well you are doing, proud to know you. Nice bunch of people we have in here.  :smitten:

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless... as June said, "God will be up all night so leave your worrying to Him.... something like that.

yesterday I went to Walmart they had a fence up between the in and the out door and a turn in the in side with a pretty long lane and a lady setting out side in a roped off square by her self watching so no one could go in the wrong way they had it separated inside  also not hardly many people in the store or cars on the lot. i got the big handicapped parking spot, where I could un load my scooter and leave the tail gate up and the unloading ramp out and down so all I had to do was get on it and drive in the store. i did not have to many things to buy so it worked great. if i have a lot of things to buy I grab a cart buy the front of the basket with my left hand and drive it with my rt hand, all in all worked good. Nancy Had to go get a prescription that was called in for her today. she wanted to go by her self and get out of the house,That worked good for us both I got to stay home and watch TV. good Night and sweet dreams everyone.

Just came in to see how everyone is doing.....

WOW, SHIRLEY, not happy to read the news in your post.  I do hope things have settled down and you do not have to find yourself headed to the ER for emergency gall bladder surgery....and most of all that you do not have the Covid virus.  Take it easy now and no more canned tamales for you girl🤣🤣

JANE, seems ou are doing more and more.....happy the doctors appointment went well. Your dinner sounded yummy.  I hope you enjoyed it.
We had quite the Snow storm yesterday with another low over night breaking the record for the low the second time this week.  Now we are to move into better temperatures.

AMY, that beef and barley soup sure sounds good....hope you enjoyed it.

We cut hair today......I cut the front of mine and tried todo the back last week.  I had to all but beg my hubby and he finally gave in and he did a great job.  I cut his, but that I have been doing for years.  We both look a whole lot better🥰🥰

Tomorrow the cadets at the Air Force will be graduating early, and the Thunderbirds are going to do a fly over the front range of Colorado on their way to the flyover for the graduation.  The plan has them flying nearly over our home so we are sure looking to seeing that.

I hope everyone had a good day.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up and Mickie has been out and had her pill and we're waiting for the boinger while I have my coffee.

SHIRLEY, I'm so sorry that you're having some problems.  I hope, too, that it's your gall bladder and not something much worse.  Prayers are on the way.

JENNY, I sure envy you if you get to see the THUNDERBIRDS!  I got to see them once when were in Wyoming.  They put on a show at Cheyenne Frontier Days and we were lucky enough to be there when it happened.  That was the year that my Girl Scouts also got to work the stands at the rodeo and then were invited to the workers dining room for lunch.  As luck would have it, the Thunderbirds were also having lunch and they stopped at our table on the way out and introduced themselves to the girls and chatted for a bit.  If you've never been with 14 teenage girls when a bevy of handsome, young aviators stopped to chat, you're missing something in life.  Of course, I wasn't a bit excited!  That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'm about ready to take a pair of scissors to my hair, too.  And that won't be a pretty sight.  Imagine it! Chin length sideburns and having to look through bangs....not a pretty sight.

Can't think what's up for today except to cook up the meat for dog food to be made later today.  Cathy is braving the supermarket with her list and mine before she comes by this morning.  So I'll have groceries to deal with when she comes and after she goes.

LLOYD, sounds like you had a good trip to the store.  Hope you got everything you need.  Hope Nancy enjoyed her outing, too.

JOY, sounds like you're enjoying your time in your own place.  It's always nice to "go home", even if you have to stay there once you get there.

Guess I better go get dressed and ready to meet the groceries. Grab this day and make it your own.  And come back and share it, whatever it is.

Good morning everyone. It is BEAUTIFUL OUT SIDE. The trees and buhes ar e covered in white. Yes it is snowing but not enough to shovel and where a car went through the parking lot it looks slushy. It is no way the forecasters yesterday said we would have 4  inches we would get. At least they were right about it snowing. Just 32 so it likely will turn to rain.

My eyes are not seeing good this morning, every thing is blurry and hard to see what I am even typing.    I forgo t  to have Yve tte put drops in my eyes yesterday and it is something I cannot do myself. ven with my yearly check up the eye doctor has trouble getting drops in, I keep shutting my eyes when I see anything coming at them. I know it will not hurt but I do i t.

JANE  you must feel great after your apppointment yesterday and using both hands to type.

AMY  My CNA gave me a mask yesterday. The company she works for is making some now. I wish I could make some but  these days I cannot get the hands and brains around anything. My Mom made the best beef barley soup and somehow when I made it it always seemed something was missing. Now I cannot cook anything.

JOY  all we have here is a poster  on the entry doors and on the boar ds near the elevator to limit visitors. My younger son comes once a week and wears a mask and then my CNA is here 5 days a week and she wears a mask and gloves. Nothing like being home to a place you know.

SHIRLEY  if I take a bite of something and it does not go down right the rest gets thrown away. I use very few canned anything Except tomatoes when I make spaghetti sauce. Most is either fresh or frozen. Hope you are feeling much better today.

LLOYD  glad you found the right parking spot to your  scooter out.

JENNY  like your new avatar, he sure is growing too fast.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Denver I do not want to barge But we just live about 30 miles west of the Whitman air fores base and we get low fly over's often and low.  a farmer had a lot of turkeys, he was calling the air fores base and complaining that the turkeys were running and pilling up and killing some of them. they were denying it so in a fey days he called the base with the numbers from off the plane. asked to talk to the base commander. he told them looking through the scope on his rifle. so then the right person came out and watched the fly over. that fixed it no more low flying over his turkeys and they paid him for damages.
they do not bother us that much, the cattle are used to them. what we did enjoy once was a grope of hot air balloon's flying low at a angle across our yard low enough that we could talk to them from our deck and did. they were four of them flying in a line. that was neat. sun is bright here today and 35º and calling for 63º . Have a great day.

Gloria yes me also. my scooter has a built in storage ramp that goes out and down to ground level and back up and in with a push of a button in to the van where the third seat is. so it is not usable. we have no children at home and the grands do not come to travel with us,so we are in good shape. have a good day.

Good morning everyone..
What a beautiful day!!! We left here without our poochies to grocery shop and pick up some bags of dirt......35 bags of dirt! Shopped for us and also shopped for a friend, little does she know that I also picked up water for them. She think  I only have 2 cases but now I have 7 for them. For a while there was a limit of two on but today there was no limit.
Have laundry blowing on the line and will do some sewing in a bit.

Gloria, we didn't get the snow but it is chilly..sun will soon take the chill off.

Jane, soon everyone will be long haired and so read for the hair dressers.

Joy, I am so happy you are in your own home. much safe to!

Shirley, gall bladder attack is no fun...hope it doesn't start up again. Careful with you eat.

Better get the rest of the laundry done..

Enjoy your day and stay safe everyone..

For some reason, I'm really tired tonight so I'm thinking of hitting the hay a bit early.  I really didn't do much today except put the groceries away and make dog food.  Oh yes, when Cathy took Mickie for a walk I went with her but it was really cold and we hustled!

I think I'll bid you all good night and go start getting into my jammies.  It takes me somewhat longer these days to do that so I'm thinking maybe I'll be in bed by ten.  Tomorrow morning will be busy.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy. healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

It is Sunday morning but I am not dressing for church and cats aren't up. Tom & Callie slept out last night, Tiger decided to sleep in the basement since the last 3 nights I kept her awake being up & down every few minutes. Guess I had a fever because it broke during the night & I was wringing wet. Think I'll live but will talk to my doctor Monday to see if I should be tested to know if it was the virus before letting any of my kids come inside the house. I wouldn't want them to catch whatever this was. Have a stack of "bought" cookies & Easter candy to dispose of, do not want to start a rebellion in my tummy again if that's what this was. I'm not as sure now as before with having a fever break. End of my whining.

Hope each of you have a wonderful day (Super Sunday it, right, Callie?} Think we have rain sometime today but haven't checked weather yet. Mild out right now when I whistled for the cats. First sounds of birds stirring, such soft talk from where ever they are. That is one bad part about cats that go outside, the birds don't nest as close to the house. Oops, there is CallieCat.

Wondered where you were, Amy, glad you are doing okay. Sorry about the late spring where you are, the leaves on most trees are about filled out, redbuds nearly done blooming and now it is tornado season. So far none around here but always dread the repairs from hail & wind damage, still one issue I didn't discover from last year, awning on the RV. Must have chipped a piece of the covering over one end because every time it rains I put it out & water has leaked inside the awning & stained. Duh, didn't think about THAT part when they replaced the whole roof last summer from hail damage. Always something, huh?

Let's get this virus over & HUGS to all!  Love ya, Shirley

A very good morning to everyone!  Whatever is wet on the grass is frozen this morning.  It was 26º when I got up this morning! It says its heading for a high of 60.  Amazing!  Winter overnight and Spring in the afternoon!

My son is supposed to be coming to mow my grass if it doesn't rain and it's not supposed to.  And Cathy will be here later to assist me with stuff I still can't do alone....like taking  bath and washing my hair.  However, this morning I do have both arms in my bathrobe and it feels good.

Don't know what's up for today except church on the phone!  Funny how we adapt!

LLOYD, I slept pretty well.  I hope you did, too!  I'm actually looking forward to today!

JENNY, AMY reminded me...I keep watching your little one grow and he's so cute and growing up so fast.  I bet you'll be happy to have him closer to home while his daddy looks for another job!

I hope everyfriend has a lovely day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it.

Good morning everyone. Wow  2 days in a row I woke up after 7am. After waking in the middle of the night for several weeks it started to feel normal. Just heard local weather and going to be cold all week, 33 now and the cars that are srill in the shade are covered in frost. We did not get much snow yesterday and most got washed away with rain. The cars that were not cleared yesterday still have snow on them. I would not want to try getting the snow off of them now would be frozen.

LLOYD  before my daughter moved to Arizona they were out there one week and a jet flew over so low they could see the pilot. There were no other houses there at the time and I think the pilot was shocked. He must have said something when he got back to the base because no jet went over them like that since.

AMY  in a way I am glad I cannot get to the markets. Yvette-CNA loves shopping and she always asks if I need anything at the stores.

JANE  I hope you slept as good as I did last night.

AMY  I didn't asl for this cold and snow. I wanted the snow in the winter not in the spring. I want warmer temperatures now. These old bones need some warm sunshine to sit in.

SHIRLEY  hope you are OK now and it was a temporary  thing from something you ate. I miss the hugs from my sons when they come here but this too shall pass, God willing.

PHYLLIS  just get better and come back ASAP.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyone..
It is very sunny here this morning
through my windows to the main street
of Portland Maine.

I do love living overlooking the theater
district and Congress Street.  Even though
the streets have very little cars or people
on them now.

I am sorry to hear Shirley that
you are not feeling well and
running a fever..   I am
glad to hear that  you are
checking with your Doctor.

I hope that there is a test available
for you to take.    Covid-19 is nothing
to mess around with, or ignore.

Hugs to all!

All is well here.  I can now go
back to ordering food to be picked
up at our local Hannafords,  so that
kelly does not have to go inside.

I do worry so much for those who have
to be out and about so that they
can pick up food for their loved ones.

Kelly is that gal in our Family.

Peace and good health to all.
Love Sandy

Good Morning,

Cloudy and chilly in central Oklahoma.  This is the 25th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing and the morning paper had no news stories except that and the Virus.

Yesterday was a Good, Special Day.  #1 son came over to move some perennials around AND  Miss Ellen came with him.  :smitten:  Couldn't hug her, of course, but it was so wonderful to spend some time with her.

Also had my first Outing since April 1.  We went to a local plant place and I got plants for the patio pots. Then we went to Braum's for ice cream.  We all wore masks and gloves - and they made sure I washed my hands when we got back to my house.

Time for the church service on Facebook.  BBL

Take care, Everyfriend, and stay safe.

Nice to come by and see so many friends in here!  I'm squeaky clean today....well, at least I don't have an odor and my head isn't itchy!  Clean always feels so good!

I have some chicken cooking in the crock pot and more in the freezer for other meals.  I still have to deal with the ground turkey and the pork chops that Cathy got me yesterday.  I'll be eating well for a while.

PHYLLIS, I sure hope you feel better soon.  I had the eye stuff that sometimes precedes vertigo or a migraine headache.  Thank goodness it didn't come on.  I took a nap and when I woke up the feeling was gone.  I hope yours goes away fast

And speaking of naps.  I think I feel one coming on right now.  I better go see if there's an oversupply of zzzzs on the couch.  Keep on keeping on!

Well, here I am, talking to myself again.  But then, aren't we all doing that, especially if we live alone!

Anyway, I'm off to Dreamland and I've sure been having some doozies lately!  Maybe if I could knock off the dreaming, I'd sleep better. I must have has a deep sleep nap this afternoon because my son came over and mowed the grass and came in and got Mickie and took her for a walk.  I think it was the door closing as they went out that I heard.  I looked all over for Mickie and when I couldn't find her, I looked outside and saw the grass had been cut and my son's van was in the driveway.  So I figured Mickie was out with her "Walkman".  She really loves him.  She practically wags her tail off her back side when he comes in the door!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Sunday evening HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

I started a post earlier and forgot to get it sent.....I think this "stay at home" life is making me worse than I normally am for forgetting things 😩🙀😂🤡

WOW, SHIRLEY, not happy to read the news in your post that you are still not feeling well.  Please take care of yourself😘

JANE, I enjoyed reading your story about seeing the Thunderbirds.  Happy you are all cleaned up and ready for another week.

AMY, thank you for noticing the new avatar of our boy ❣️

LLOYD, loved the story about the turkeys and the low flying planes🙀

CALLIE, happy to read that you got to see Miss Ellen today....I can imagine how difficult it was for you not to be able to give her a big hug.  Hopefully soon.  We hoped to go see Dave and Family today, but Michele was not feeling very good today after her chemo this week.  It was a pretty day here but not really as warm as we would like it to be for sitting outside, distanced, of course....maybe next week.

GLORIA, your weather seems to be as fickle as ours is here.....one day so warm then the next a big ol snow storm.  Our Boston Family had snow yesterday but the; today they were swimming in their swimming pool.  Mind you, our son did turn the heater in the pool on, but it was just a beautiful day there.  He said they almost felt like they were at a resort.

PHYLLIS, I am sure sorry that you are not doing well and dealing with all the issues.  Please take care and feel better soon.

I hope everyone had a good day.  Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning everyone..

Light snow over night ,sun will take care of that later.

Friends came and we exchanged our groceries yesterday.I did bake bread and sent them home with a loaf plus took on to our neighbour. Had a wee nap  in the afternoon too!

Today is to get the new gas cap if it is in then home to clean. Wash walls etc.Tis fun to do and if anyone would like to enjoy the job let me know  ;)

Callie, I don't know if the places that normally sell plants will here this summer. I was going to pick up a tomato plant plus some wave petunias but will wait and see.

Jenny, much safer to swim in your own pool than to venture out to a resort. Everything is shut down here...only a few stores are open. Walmart and grocery stores are open, other one like the hardware stores you have to phone in and pick it up curbside.

Jane, grass cutting??? Wow you are so far ahead of us...buds on the trees have yet to take their winter coats off it is still cold here. Just watch when the weather warms up everything will pop with new life.

Gloria, we have planes that fly that low over the house and you can see the pilot in them. Doesn't happen very often but interesting to see.

Sandy ,glad you are stay safe..

Lloyd. hope you caught more sleep.

Phyllis, hope you feel better soon. That is not a nice feeling with that and it can't go away soon enough!

Better move it, take care everyone..

Good Morning Everyfreind!  We're up, Mickie went out and then had her pill.  I had my first cup of coffee and we're waiting for he boinger!

We're going to try something new today.  Cathy's not coming this morning.  She's going to try to get back to her usual morning routine and I'm going to try to work out a new one.  The only thing I really need is someone to walk Mickie and I'll just put on my shoes and walk around the fenced yard with her for a bit!  If I doesn't work, Cathy will be back tomorrow.  It'll work!!  Where there's a will, there's a way!!!

I have to deal with the cooked chicken this morning and I want to make up a casserole for breakfast tomorrow. Thought if I got it all mixe and put it in the fridge, I can bake it tomorrow while we wait for the boinger.

Hope Everyfriend is feeling better and stronger today and all goes well for all of you.  Being closed in is bad enough.  We don't need "sick" to go with it.  We don't need snow either!

I wish you all a good day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone. Must have slept much better last night. If I am not sleepy when I go to bed I cannot fall asleep and I was reading and getting to the end and we know that is the best part of a book and had to finish it  at  almost  2 am so woke at 9:30 or so and am now here with my coffee.

PHYLLIS  praying for you to feel better PDQ.

JANE  when I fall asleep I never hear  even a loud thunderstorm. as for dreaming I never remember one or know if I had any. I am out till I wake.

JENNY  IT WAS A SUNNY DAY HERE oops hit the caps lock. Not warm enough for me to go out though. No sunshine today with a gray sky. We aren't that far from Boston so weather not much different. Maybe an hour ride from here.

LLOYD  hope you got more sleep and woke refreshed.

AMY  wish I could still wash my walls and get this place all spic and span. I will be here 6 years in June and these walls have never been washed. That is sure not like I used to be. I wonder if some restaurants here will ever reopen. A few have take out only-pick up at curb.

JANE  I am getting so tired of being cooped up in these 3 small rooms. Thankfully I do get my CNA today.

SHIRLEY  I hope you are feeling better today.

JOY  hope you are doing better every day.

Have a good day and stay safe.

From Tom Tock

My Aunt Mary Ann passed away at our home yesterday evening after a few weeks of hospice care. It was a glorious day in which we celebrated her 96th birthday 4 days early. Stand around her bed, we sang happy birthday to her as a family and friends. Within a few hours she stopped breathing having passed in the presence of a merciful God.

As a child a spend most summer weekends at her cottage on Upper Lake near Cedar Springs. Through most of college and seminary I lived with her. This allowed my to graduate almost debt free. The last few years of her life she asked that I move in so she could stay in her home longer, which she did till the end. I will be forever grateful that she was in my life.

_______
Mary Ann Tock, beloved aunt to Tim, Tom & Terry passed away at home on Sunday, April 19, 2020. Born April 23, 1924 in Wellsburg, West Virginia, her family moved to Grand Rapids in 1925. She was predeceased by her parents Norman Tock, Sr. and Merle Fleming Tock, her brother Norman Tock Jr., her nephews Tim Tock, Terry Tock, and cousin Steve Harton, grand nephew Chris Salcau, and cousins Jim and Joan Harton. She is survived by her nephews Tom Tock, cousins Tom Harton and Bob Harton, nieces Jan Lancaster and Gina Partyka, sister-in-law Dorothy Tock, great-nephews and nieces Paula (Eric) Mertins, Geoff Tock (Charissa Chan), Erin Tock, James (Alicia)Tock, Cate Tock, and Adrienne Salcau; great-great nieces and nephews, Avery and Conner Mertins, Johanna and Eleanor Tock, and Isaiah and Ezra Tock, and Kendrick, her cat she shared with Cate.

She loved her nephews and nieces throughout her life and was very generous to them through her time, home, and gifts. She got a kick out of when others went south for the winter in their retirement she went north to Boyne City to live near Tom's family for few winters.

Having graduated from Creston High School (1941) she remained a "North Ender" the rest of her life. She traveled throughout the American West with her father and to Guatemala, England, Denmark, Germany, Canada, and Alaska. Mary Ann worked for Consumers Powers for 43 years, was a member of Second Congregational Church for 75 years (attended for 92 years) and a long time member of the Daughters of The American Revolution. Mary Ann was passionate about the family genealogy and created volumes of materials for her family.

The family would like to thank the incredible caregivers who served Aunt Mary Ann; Robin Janulis Martilotta, a long time family friend and personal assistant capturing even more genealogy information in the final months of her life, Margaret, Darla, Markita, Amy, and Scarlett.

Memorials may be made to Second Congregational Church, Emmanuel Hospice or the North End Community Ministry.

Due to the COVID crisis a family celebration of her life will take place at a later time.

Patricia,  I also thank you again for posting about Mary Ann. She reminds me of my beloved Aunt Esther who never married and doted on her nieces, nephews and their families.  I keep up with cousins from the generation younger than mine and we all have stories about Aunt Esther.
Mary Ann will be missed by all who knew her.

My condolences to Mary Ann's family.  She lived a long and remarkable life, cherished her many family members, as she cherished each of them.  MaryAnn will continue to be a "missing piece" of our S&F family, as we all looked forward to seeing her posts here.  God rest her soul.

Good Monday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🌞🌞

Thank you, PATRICIA for sharing Tom's message.  Although we all knew that MA was not doing well, I think we all expected for her to feel better and she would be able to come back in to greet us once again😩😢 She was a very loved lady and we all will miss her SO very much 🦋🦋. Last night, before I retired, I was looking at the picture that I had saved of her, and said a special little prayer.  I thought about her Birthday coming up and wanted to make sure I sent her a card.  Little did I know, she had already passed on. 🙏

It warmed my heart to read that the family celebrated her 96th Birthday yesterday.  MA and my Dad are the same age.....born in April of 1924 🦋.      RIP MARY ANN TOCK 🙏

GLORIA, I know you are not far from Boston at all.....and I just hope the next time I am there I will be able to get over to meet you in person❣️  The family is not swimming today....they said there is no sunshine, however I know one grandson will be in that pool at some point....he is a little fish 🏊‍♂️.  He got in the pool the minute it was uncovered and was up and running.  They sent a video of him and he did let out a good scream after he came up for air!

AMY, sounds like your Sunday was a nice one.  I hope you get that gas cap and get back home so you can start in on cleaning those walls.  Bless your heart.....sadly, I have turned into a slug 🐌.  I do have a couple of irons in the fire, but nothing like what your plans are🙈  So, no, I won't be joining in with you today😘

JANE, I have no doubt that you will make it through the day on your own.....as you say, "where there is a will there is a way"!  I am sure Mickie would much rather be out walking, but a trip around the yard just might have to do! I sure am proud of you the way you just keep on going with what ever you need to do in spite of that broken shoulder!

We do have sunshine today, so that makes me a happy camper.....

I hope you all have a good rest of your day.

Jenny

I'm typing this with tears in my eyes.  Mary Ann was a very special lady who loved life and lived it to the fullest.  It was plain to see that her family was the brightest part of her life.  I know she's in heaven and has no more pain in her life.  I will miss her as if she lived next door!  God bless all her family and bring you peace!  Love and good wishes go with her and also remain here with all the generations of her family who loved and were loved by her!

Thank you, Patricia, for bringing the message here, and thank you Tom Tock, for letting us know, and also for realizing how much Mary Ann meant to all of us. Because Mary Ann loved and talked about her family so much, we feel like we know all of you so any time you get a chance, we'd love to know how life goes on with the Tock Family. God Bless and give you strength, so hard to console each other without sharing hugs and tears. She will live on in our memories and hearts. Shirley in Kansas

I was on my way to bed and realized I needed to turn off the computer.   I decided to check in here and I am just so sorry to read about the passing of Mary Ann.  Like Jane, I, too, have tears in my eyes.  Was not expecting to see that news.  After seeing her picture the other day, I thought that she would be back with us in a couple days.  I want to extend my deepest sympathy to all her family and friends.  She was a special friend here for a long time and will be greatly missed.  What a sad thought I have to go to bed with now.

Good morning everyone at 2:10 am. I kind ot knew it would be that kind of night after the way I slept the clock around 2 nights ago. Might as well get up and get the day started and am enjoying my coffee and this morning it tastes great. No sunshine here  today. A cold front coming in later and might have thunder storms late afternoon according to last night's forecast.

AMY  thank you for your email last night about Mary Ann.

To Tom or any member of her family if you look in here my deepest sympathy for the loss of Mary Ann.We will all miss her.

PATRICIA  thank you for the whole obit. So sad how small our group is getting. There are a few here with computers that I have talked to about this site but they just aren't interested.

JENNY  my CNA alr eady has the chemicals for her pool and so has my #2 son. It will be more than a month before  it warms up enough to open the pools here.My 2 granddaughters are ;ike fish uin their pool and my CNA's 2 grandsons cannor wait for her pool to be opened.

JANE  Mary Ann sent me a slip of a plant she had because my daughter had some in hanging pots outside. Some of my daughters flowers were as big as diner plates. Mary Anne's plant was inside near her slider and a bright red but being inside the flowers were much smaller. She told me once she had to give the big plant away because it got so big and  heavy she could not handle it anymore. The slip was doing good till I moved here. Most all the ones I had died in this place. West sun is too hot for the plants and that is all the sun I get.

LLOYD  sorry you did not realize when you called Amy it was international. You live in the USA and she lives in Canada.

JOY  I checked my email before closing last night and learned about Mary Ann. A sad thing to take to bed.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Woke up to snow ,not a sight I wanted to see.

Will continue on today with what didn't get done yesterday. Why is it when you start one job a multitude of jobs pop up and sideline you from the main job?? Or maybe I am just easily side tracked??

Gloria, that is too early to start the day.........hope you can cat nap later on.

Jenny, yes, I finally did get the gas cap . Now I hope this is the right fix for the problem.

Better get a start on the day.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up and have our morning started.  I have my coffee and Mickie's waiting for the boinger.  I'm not sure what today will bring but I'm ready for it.  I got the exercises from the orthopedist yesterday and we have a tele appointment on Wednesday.

I also have a couple recipes I want to try so at least one is on the schedule for today.  I didn't get the breakfast on put together last night because I got interested in a movie.  It was "The Hunt For Red October" about a Russian sub captain who wanted to defect.  The book was written by one of my favorite authors, Tom Clancy.  I loved the book and I love the movie.  It also starred two of my favorite actors...Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin.  Besides reading the book, I've probably seen the movie at least a dozen times and it's just as good the last time as it was the first time.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with your nosy interested friends!

Good morning on a bright, sunny morning.  (thankfully)

I was so sad to read about Mary Ann this morning.  I always admired her and enjoyed her daily posts.  I'm glad she had her loving family with her.  They meant so much to her.

The vertigo is better today and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that today will be a good day.

Take care, All.

Just checking in, haven't had breakfast myself and was side tracked on the computer and didn't notice that Tiger finally came in for hers. I had fed Tom & Callie and needed to open another can of tuna before feeding Tiger. She always wants things her way & often I will take her breakfast down the hall when I go get dressed. I didn't get around this morning so she went past me to go outside in a huff, patted the door for me to open (Tom & Callie already out). I realized what had happened so tried to talk her back in, cats!!!. I gave up, opened the tuna & took her bowl out on the step, she wouldn't look at me but put her head down to eat anyway. A fresh opened can of tuna is her favorite food.  ::)  I have been royally put down for my neglect!

Guess we are all feeling the empty place that was the hope Mary Ann would be back with us. In my world I am sure she & Norm and all the rest of their family, are having the hugs and pats on the back & shoulders they've been missing. What else can Heaven be? Bubble just posted a young photo of Norm over in Photos Guess who. Aren't we lucky to have met so many people from all over the world through out computers?!

Gloria, all other years before last, when I bought a very expensive pool cover, we dumped the pool water, scrubbed it out & put fresh well water in. It takes 7 hours of running the well pump to fill the pool and so much less chemicals it was a fair exchange. I felt better about the water. BUT last year I had the pool guy take the cover off & just dump chemicals, it stayed so much nicer than before the cover and nobody swims in it anyway. I just don't like the smell of chemicals. When it was fresh water all I had to do was put chlorine floaters in & in 3 days it was sparking like a picture. I will be calling my pool guy & open this one in the next couple weeks, waiting for the signal we can have people around again. Yard guys were here yesterday & I was extra careful how I handed them the money. They are both firemen & have this business on their days off, so I know they have been tested.

Have a whole list of to-dos for today, starting with filling this growling tummy. Wishing all of you a happy day full of extra nice moments.  Love you.... Shirley

GOOD MORNING 💐

I am still trying to get my head around the fact of our MARY ANN's passing.  I really did expect her to come back in and post with us once again😢. One thing for sure......I do not like the fact that our special group of friends are dwindling down at a much faster rate than I want to accept 😡😩!

GLORIA, I knew right away when I saw the time you were posting that you were not having a good night of rest😩  Boston son sent a picture yesterday with snow on the ground....so I doubt they were swimming yesterday🤣🤣. This is a brand new pool for them, so the kids have been really wanting to get it up and running.  They have a salt pool and the water is so soft and of course there are no chemical smells!

AMY, I certainly hope the gas cap is all that is needed to solve the problem on the van. I understand the thoughts you share....we start one task and in doing so there are ALWAYS other tasks that are required!

SHIRLEY, I can not tell you how much I enjoy the cat chronicals of the day with you and your kitties😘.

PHYLLIS, good to see your post.  I hope and pray that the vertigo will leave you SOON, and never return❣️

JANE, I am anxious to read what the recipe of the day will be.  Seems you are getting along just fine!  YIPPEE❣️

I wish you all a great day.....gang in there and be as safe as you can during these troubled times😍

Jenny......smiling because we have sunshine and nice temperatures today 😘

Well, the recipe today turned out to be potato soup ala my daddy's recipe made with the last of the potatoes that were trying to sprout.  It wasn't as good as Daddy's but it was quite tasty.  And there's more left over for tomorrow.  Maybe even supper tonight.  I'm not against eating something twice in one day if it's really good.

And tonight, I'm planning (again) to make up the breakfast casserole and put it in the fridge overnight.  I shredded the necessary cheese for in in and that was the big part of the job.

PHYLLIS, I hope your good feeling held up and the vertigo is a thing of the past!

SHIRLEY, I'm like JENNY with your cat stories.  They crack me up!

I'm wondering if any of you got your stimulus payment yet.  My granddaughter got hers and her neighbor who is my daughter's niece on the other side, got hers.  I'm thinking it's alphabetic because they are both at the beginning of the alphabet.  Of course, if any of you got yours, I wouldn't know if it was alphabetic or now because I don't know a lot a last names in here.  I'm way down at the end as you can tell because I post as JaneS.

I guess I better get off this chair or nothing will get done for the rest of the day.  And I have to have something to show for the day!

Keep on keeping on!

Jane, I do love potato soup so could you 'splain what/how you put it together. In my life, potatoes are the most comforting of all foods, be they souped, mashed, french fried, baked.  Oh, I have not gotten a stimulus check, couldn't believe they would send to Seniors that didn't have a paying job but people say they do.

I really goofed when I cashed iBonds, 3 last year in Cas' name & 3 again this, in my name.... tax man told me to do only one a year but since they didn't have beneficiaries listed I thought they would be more difficult for the kids to cash "down the line".... They had nearly doubled & taxes were awful on them, but I held out my hand for cash & nobody ever needs know what I do with that money! Anyway, made my income look pretty good 2 years in a row and will be pleased if I get some of that tax money back. I think most of us in here have done the best we could all our lives, and should NOT have to pay taxes ever again... Yea? I've had a lot of fun, not many regrets and fantastic memories just being happy.

I go into my pity-party mode every time I have to pay unfair tax, after all, WE were the ones that saved the money by building our own house, doing all our own work. Could go on to whine that I can count on one had the number of times I've paid for a hair cut, never had a manicure or pedicure, sewed my own clothes for the dinners we were lucky enough to be invited to during his working years. Some of the wealthiest people in the US & world to mingle with so not easy to fit in without spending everything he made, "for appearances". Anyway, what we saved was not from huge pay checks, but extra labor on our part. As for clothes, I shopped the best stores when they had sales, like a game to find a $200-$300 dress for $10., remodel to make sure no other lady showed up with the same bargain... same with all MY clothes. My husband was noted for being the sharpest dresser, he kept trim & loved clothes. After the alteration man did his job the suit would come back to me to have the waist taken in a quarter of an inch & length fixed, they had to "break" perfect over his shoes & tapered to the back exact length of shoe before heel. His one leg was about half an inch longer than the other but no alterations people would ever hem them different! I kept him happy.

Here it is, time to feed the fish & I have nothing to show for my day. Andy suggested last night (when I told him about having to get a new microwave oven) to put some Vaseline on the prongs on the door, open & close a couple times & then put the cup of water in to see if it will start (has power), his daughter's just did the same & worked for her. I already had put it in the box the new one came in but decided to give it a try. plugged it into the hall next to the kitchen, got out the Vaseline as instructed & didn't work. I don't take defeat well and this is the 2nd rejection in 2 days.

Last night I took the iPod down to the river (of all electronics, it does the best job for me in taking short videos). The fish are so big & friendly I wanted to show y'all. Darn near slid the iPod into the river when I dropped on the sand. Can't juggle tearing slices of bread into bites, whistling every time I throw a handful out, & getting fish in focus all at same time. The whole area has tunnels under where the critters travel so sand not stable & I am careful to not slide ME into the Arkansas River, I do not float or swim. We are expecting rain starting tonight & the sandy area was under water until several years ago and goes under every heavy spring rain. Could be weeks before I get a chance to show you the fish. I don't encourage them to come to the edge of the water if it comes up the bank, too many ways they can get trapped. So I will go on down to the river now & feed, cats are sitting outside the door staring in, they do know the routine. Some day I will get one of my sons to do a video (NOT showing me, just fish) and see if they will put it on U-tube with a link for you.  Jack that used to post with his Goldens knew how to show us videos, tried to explain but I need to be shown (Missouri saying).

Patricia, I modified and took my sympathy note to your link. I did look this morning to see if one was opened for her, we have been keeping Bubble super busy with taking care of us. Thanks to you and her for helping.

Snow off and on and high winds most of the day today. I didn't hang the curtains or quilts out for fear they would wrap around Janie!!

Have no idea of who or what crept into our home and made the rooms larger well either that or I am slower... but I did get two rooms done.

Shirley I would dearly love to see the fish!! Best to wait till your son can help you...don't need you getting wet! I thought I would have to get a new toaster oven, darn thing kept making a noise so I would unplug it just to have some quiet. Taking stock of  it I noticed that the button for the rotisserie was on......problem solved  ;D

Better go see what I can get out of doing  :2funny:

I have a computer visit with a Physical Therapist tomorrow and Cathy's been knocking her brains out trying to get me set up for this visit.  I seem to be missing some passwords and she tried all the  ones I have.  They don't work!

SHIRLEY, I'm not sure I can write down he potato soup recipe because Daddy never did it the same twice and neither do I.  I'll make an honest effort before what I did today slips away.  But that will be tomorrow or Thursday.  I promise to try.  If I don't get back to you, remind me.

I was out in the yard with Mickie this afternoon and something came flapping by  At first I thought it was a VERY LARGE bird and then I realized it was a quilt.  At the rate it was moving, it's probably in Louisiana or Texas by now!  If you're missing one, AMY, you might have David keep his eyes open on his next trip south!

I'm off to Dreamland now.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

High winds and 14° F this morning and they are calling for more snow! Wonder where this so called global warming is???

Not sure what is on the agenda today..can Spring clean another room or not. Muscles are telling me or not will win out. Need some cookies as we are getting low so baking may be in order.Bread also is low...there my day planned......baking.

Jane, the wind is worse today so keep your head up. One never knows what may go flying! I thought we may lose power last night but it stayed on. Giving Babe Glucosamine, chondroitin and MSG along with her med from the vet to see if it all will help her ligament .

Enjoy your day everyone..

Jane, I had a video visit with my Primary care doctor a couple weeks ago.  I don't have a camera with my computer, so she couldn't see me, but she could hear me.  But, I could see and here her.  It went very well and, she just asked me some questions and we went over my medicines.  It was right after I got hone,  They had sent me a link to get into her site and it all worked out well.  I didn't have to put in any passwords for anything.

I am thinking about getting a camera that will sit on top of my computer.  I have a friend who told me that will make it possible to communicate with her.  I need to check with my son as I saw a cheap one at Walmart and want to make sure it will be compatible with my computer.

Good luck !

Do hope that Marilyne's husband is doing better this morning.  Hopefully. she has gotten to talk to the doctor.

Have a safe day.

Good morning everyone, finally slept right last night. After CNA left yesterday I did have a nap, good thing I did not get on Skype because my daughter and SIL went into town for groceries. I slept through the time we would have been on. It is 32 now but with wind it feels like 22. Another day of not going out for me. Watching local news and showing an outside view and the outside camera is really bouncing with the wind. This state suddenly is getting more cases of the virus. So glad my CNA can still come.

AMY  you are not the only one who gets side tracked into do doing something else.

LLOYD  this is not a time for travel anywhere.

JANE  I really have done nothing much to write about. I would love to get into a bath tup and enjoy a nice long soak in warm water bu no tub here just a shower. No heat in the bathroom and hate getting out of a warm shower into a cold room. I cannot move fast enough to get warm. We all complain about that in this building.

PHYLLIS  it is sunny here but the wind in keeping the sun from warming up.

SHIRLEY  you make me glad I have to fur bay to cater to these days. Hard enough just take care of myself.

JENNY  my CNA  has a pool and her 2 grandsons keep asking when they can go swimming.

JANE  if anything goes by alphabet I an at the end with a Z for a last name. If I took my maiden name back with my divorce I would have been a B.

SHIRLEY  now why not with you in the video feeding the fish? We wou ld like to see you  and not just fish.

AMY  you should hear the fridge in here every time it runs. Drove me nuts at first but after almost 6 years I am used to it.

LLOYD  I think we are all praying for the virus to die and not us.

JOY  I have had a camera sttached to my computer so long now I cannot remember when I bought it. I got it so I can get on Skype every day with my daughter.  Mine does not clip to the top of the monitor but sits on the desk under the monitor.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Sunny day here, too, and no wind....at least, not yet.  This April has been more like March.  It's been very windy.

I'm doing fine with no vertigo yesterday.  Baked a loaf of bread with the last of the yeast I had but, have some more coming.   It should be here tomorrow....fingers crossed.  Also, I managed to find a supply for 15 bean soup mix (none at all in the grocery store) and they arrived a few days ago so I set the beans to soak overnight and will make the soup today with leftover Easter ham.  I love Potato Soup, too, Jane, but I think a good, hearty Bean Soup is close to being my favorite.  It doesn't matter to me whether it is cold weather or hot....soup is the best comfort food in the world!

David picked up my online grocery order yesterday and I got only about 1/2 of what I had ordered so I'll need to try again today.  The available pick up dates are so far in the future it is making it difficult to plan that far ahead but we are managing. I finally managed to snag some dishwasher detergent yesterday. Yay!  I am purely tired of washing dishes by hand especially with all this extra cooking that I am doing.  But, all is well with my world....for the moment.     ::)

Take care, Everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We've been up and attem for a while now but this is my first chance to get in here.  Mickie's been out and fed and out again and I need to go get dressed.

Don't know yet what's on the agenda for today besides our computer visit with the Physical Therapist at 4.  I still didn't get the breakfast casserole done because I had chopped broccoli on my shopping list and my personal shopper (Cathy) got me broccoli crowns. She knows I like to eat them and didn't realize that I was trying to avoid the chopping process.

I'm on my way to go get dressed for the day.  It's a lot slower process than it used to be "pre-fall".

Thanks, JOY for the information about the computer visit.  I called my daughter and read it to her and she says "thank you" too.  It's good info.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it!

Quick Addition!  PHYLLIS, I'm so glad you're feeling better.  I think, if I had to pick a fav soup it would have to be home made vegetable soup.  I collect vegetables all summer and make a huge pot in the Fall and can it so I can have it whenever I want it.  Frankie also loves it and has some whenever she's over here and sometimes take a jar home with her.  I also contribute 5 quarts to one of the monthly soup sales that we have after church.  The proceeds go to local Outreach projects and that's where my heart is.

Well, I almost came in here to say "Good Night" to myself!  Where is everyone?  I'm off to get myself ready for bed and I was hoping to see that SHIRLEY had received my recipe for Potato Soup.

I want to tell you that today, for the first time since my fall, I'm wearing jeans!  I've been sticking to stretchy pants with no zipper and elastic waistbands and today I decided to see if I could get into the jeans and see how it went.  It felt great!

Now I'm off to change into my jammies and hit the hay!  I'm tired for some reason and I don't think I did anything different today except to walk around the yard several times while Mickie was out.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

well good night and I did not see where SHIRLEY  had posted about Potato Soup either. I do not if this will do for you, But following is how i do it.and is good if i do say so my self. ( peel and cut the potato's into about 3/4 cubes, cover them good with water and salt to your own taste. boil them until they are good and tender (test with fork) pore off about half or beater of the water, bring back liquid level with Milk a dash of pepper  and depending on your volume of soup put in a goodly amount of mild cheddar cheese and bring back to  light boil to melt the cheese. good soup. this is all for tonight, good night.

Good morning every one. Another early morning for me. Starting to go to ed early so I am getting sleep but getting up at 2:30 in te morning is a pain. I try being very quiet so I do not wake  my neighbors.
This wind is getting to be a big pain.  34 but windchill is 25. When it finally stops maybe I can go outside for some fresh air. I will wear my mask, too.

LLOYD  hope you slept better last night.

PHYLLIS  we are having a combination of March wind and April rain. On late Tuesday afternoon we had a thunderstom with very stron‌g wind, even some hail then the temperture dropped like old man winter was blowing fridgid air. I think we are all ready for some nice spring temperature and sunshine. I love that 15 bean soup. Not long ago I got a bsg of it and then it dawned on me I did not have a pan big enough any more so gave it to my oldest son and he made it and gave me some and boy did I enjoy it. I agree, I love most any home made soup. My daughter and SIL went grocery shopping in town Tuesday and she went to 4 markets trying to get every thing her list. They make that trip almot every 2 weeks mostly because she cannot keep produce much longer than that. She is well stocked with everything else.

LLOYD  hope you slept better last night.

Hope Shirley is OK. Not like her to miss p‬osting every day.

Have a good day and stay safe.

I know it is your fault because you get up before me. i woke up about 5:00 AM. doing a bad dream. oh well I am up now and am going to go take my blood sugar test now, and fiend something to eat, after that. our deck is wet ,but not raining at the moment, weather guesser is saying 54º and cloudy now and going to 74º and mostly  cloudy for the day today. grand children called last night and told Nancy the found a good mess of mushrooms for us. wow that has my mouth watering. I have been a couple times this year but had no good luck. when it gets light I am going to get on the four wheeler and go where we usually fiend some, cant have too many of them morels. Have a good day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be short because we're waiting for the boinger and then it will be time for breakfast and Mickie won't let me forget that!

I slept pretty good last night....got up once to answer nature's call and went right back to sleep.  I was really tired last night and I don't know why.  Maybe it all caught up with me!

GLORIA, we're having the same kind of weather you are and I know it was warmer last year at this time because my Maryland daughter came up to celebrate my birthday by helping me to clean up flower beds and replant them.  It's been a strange Spring in more ways than one!

I'll try to come back later for a better visit.  Right now, my day begins!

I wish you a lovely day!

Good morning everyone..

Beautiful sunny day here and no wind!! Temp id 10 °F and the sun will son make that rise. I have an appointment this morning and then I think if it is ok with Kyle we will go for a wee drive. He is on his last piece of Old Sharpe cheese and a drive will be nice for both of us.

Jane , now that is an accomplishment with one wing, to do the zipper and button up. How is the arm coming along? Does it bother you at night?

Gloria, we also like soup at any time of the year. The trees are slow to bud here and I am looking forward to all the lilacs in bloom.

Lloyd, enjoy your mushroom hunting but be careful out there.

Phyllis, happy to read your vertigo has gone, now for it to stay gone forever!

Joy, Kyle has had a visit via internet with his specialist but due to his hearing Kyle had problems with that. Other than that the visit went well with the Dr nurse taking vitals and other information. Modern technology!

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning to all. I've been up over an hour, taking care of cats & actually combed my hair! I cut it yesterday and feels so much better.

Didn't realize I had not posted in here, think I must have left a post over in the Bait & Tackle when I was thinking of Mary Ann. She was so faithful about keeping it running after Norm died.

It has been hard to make the rounds this past week with sleeping so much. Think whatever I had is over with but have you noticed how much harder it is to make up for what didn't get done the day before?

Gloria, that wind sure gets on one's nerves, we have had more than normal this winter. Never did have any ice on the river so will have a super crop of bugs this summer, top that with wind & takes the fun out of being outside. I slept the past week away. Hang in, wonder if our lives will ever be the same....

Jane, I did get your soup recipe and thought I replied with a big thank you... but wouldn't be the first time I forgot to hit the send button. Like you said, can think of multi ways to change a tad every time... my fav kind of recipe! Thank you so much for taking time.  Three cheers for getting the jeans back on. I've been living in "sweats" the past week except for the time I got out to go to the store. Need to do laundry today and start dragging out the summer stuff. Hate this time of year when clothes pile up from both seasons. 75 one day & back to freezing the next.

We needed the rain yesterday but will be a few days before river goes back down to talk to the fish. Can't believe this is Thursday already. I'm pretty sure it was Wed night a week ago I got so sick & absolutely lost the whole week.

Phyllis, glad you are doing better. Think you will be getting the rain. Heard on news that tornadoes hit just south of Callie (in OK) last night. This may be the year for them, has not been too bad last few years. I have certain things I haul to the basement when the warnings get too close. Older I get the harder to drag those bags down & back up next day. You remember the drill, always at night.

I think when we already don't feel good, a death can affect us so much harder. Besides my brother and Mary Ann, I called to check on another 94 year old long time friend and told she had died about a month-6 weeks ago. All had been positive type people.

Lloyd, your potato soup also sounds good. I love potatoes any way fixed. Have a pot of chives in the berm that survived the last few winters outside, already brought some in to chop on a baked potato along with some sour cream, big chunk of butter and a hand full of shredded cheese. I am always good to eat that when nothing else sounds good.

I have another problem to face. Old Callie cat slipped into the bedroom end of the house and marked her spot for spite. The smell is awful and I can't find it!!! I will have to move every piece of furniture & clean carpet... and hope she didn't back up to one of the 2 big LazyBoys in the sitting part of those 2 rooms. Cas had 4 LazyBoys when he died, all like new and way too big for me. I gave away 2 & kept the 2 side by side back there in case company is here to spend the night. That hasn't happened because my daughter stays in the spare bedroom at her son's house so she can wake up with her grands. She used to often sleep in our bedroom downstairs but not since the kids got a bigger house about 6-8 years ago. Anyway, I am just sick about the cat smell, can not wait to start the clean out, but wish it happened AFTER the virus problem, I will need to hire a cleaning crew to help with that mess! The original owner added a full size room onto the master bedroom end of the house so a lot of space to work on. The carpet in there is about 8 years old so hate to have it taken out, just don't know where that smell comes from but it's gotta go! I can't be mean to these cats and they are a problem. Not sure how much longer I can cope with them and know the only solution is having them put to sleep. That would be hard if they are not in pain or really sick. All I can say is I understand why my mother never allowed me to adopt a horse... animals have always been "people" to me...

Okay, time for me to eat and either get busy or go back to sleep. It is light out and the day is waiting!  Wishing all of you smiles, 6' away....

Ah, you made it in, Amy, was wondering where you were. Love to just go for a drive & was thinking of even rolling the RV around with price of gas so cheap.

Lloyd, my father loved mushrooms & so does one son, Dad hunted them but son NOR me, would know a poison one from good. We have toadstools the size of plates that grow "out back" here, I'm sure not good to eat but seems a shame since they LOOK pretty.

Talking to myself like Jane!  Miracles do happen. This morning I was trying to find summer clothes so I moved the Shark vac I had dragged between the closets and all of a sudden I realized THAT was where the odor was coming from! Callie hates noise, she marked the little Shark Navigator I keep in the kitchen, shorted it out, had to buy another. Last week I had the Black & Decker hedge trimmer out back, cutting down the tall grass. I sat it on the ground for a second to pick up the pile & put into the dumpster, looked over and Callie was standing over the hedge trimmer drowning it!!!! I screamed at her, ran inside to grab paper towels & dried off, she did not short it out this time, I hope! I haven't turned that Shark vac on yet, but would actually be a relief it that is the only thing ruined! Bless her heart, she is laying outside the door right here, so happy to have a home. We know she is old and I know abused along the way, she just does not understand she has to KILL everything that makes a noise!

So, I went shopping to Sam's Club. Boy, this virus has changed the world. They had NO hamburger, I have wanted a T-bone or rib eye steak for weeks.... to me a luxury I'm not willing to spend for very often so want a good cut. NO T-bones at all and the rib eyes were pathetic. I asked the butcher if I went out into the Flint Hills & rustled up a steer, would he butcher it for me? He shook his head & rolled his eyes. Well, getting desperate. I have a feeling because of the problems at the packing houses, we may have a shortage of beef this year. So that's my news. The Shark vac is one my husband bought, bagless & last time used on the grass carpet around the pool. I may not have cleaned it out good, could that be the smell?  Don't think so, I think Callie attacked it. :knuppel2:

This was a grand day..no snow.no wind and the temp did rise!
No road trip today..ended up working here . Asked the neighbour to meet me at the fence..to measure up for a mask...have two made for her  and will get them to her tomorrow. My machine was acting up so after a clean ,a "whatsa matter wit you" I finally got it going again.

Shirley, I don't know if it is poor Shirley with the seek and find or poor Callie for her problem with noise. Glad you found the spot! Maybe another market may have your steak?  I know my friend wanted chicken from Costco but none to be found.

Well time to relax a bit ,see what is on tv..

Enjoy your evening everyone..

Good afternoon everyone. this is the third time I have tried to post and away it goes. I have a question what has this world done with common since and freedom of religion. when a preacher gets arrested for holding church for people that exercise there to right to go to there church of there choice with others that are there of there Owen free will. we the people need to do a better job of whom we vote for to do our desire. tomorrow I am going to call our congers woman and ask her secretary about that. I know her in person  and also Vicky Hartsler. when attending the army reserves Her husband was in the reserves as I at the same time,

I'm off to Dreamland!  It's been a busy day. I finally made the broccoli/cheese quiche and it's delicious.  I sent a picture to all my kids and invited them for lunch.  The girls all said they'd be right over.  My son didn't answer but when he came to take Mickie for her noon-ish walk he stayed and had a nice piece of quiche  for his lunch!  He pronounced it "excellent".

AMY, the buttons and the zipper on the jeans were easy but they really needed a belt and I couldn't figure out how to get that around my waist and then buckled so I spent the day hoisting them!  Tomorrow, I'm going to take my time and find the ones that I know don't need a belt.

SHIRLEY, I did get your answer but my email has been  bit slow this past week.  I think it's because Cathy's been working on it to get me set up to receive on my phone and my iPad, too.

And now, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone. It is 39 now and raining again. Looks like  it will rain all day. The ground must be saturated with all the rain we had this year. I know the grass here is a beautiful  green from the rain. Some of the flowering bushes are showig flowers already but not from the sunshine. With the wind this week the sun we had did little to warm the air.
After I got off Skype with my daughter I laid on the couch watching the news and woke 2 hours later. Had something to eat and went to bed, slept till  5:30 this morning. Good night's sleep for me.

LLOYD  I never had wild mushrooms, would not know the safe o from the poison ones from safe ones. I will stick to the ones from the markets.

JANE  I don't remember an April this miserable weather before.

AMY  since moving here I miss having some lilacs in my home when they are in bloom. Love the aroma of them.

SHIRLEY  I don't think any of us will get back to normal anytime soon with this darn virus. At times the last couple of weeks I felt like I was locked up in jail. Have not gopne outside and only went down for mail twice and had to wear a mask just to go out my door. This keeping a record of who we have been in contact with is easy for me. My 2 sons and my CNA. No one is sitting in the lobby either, if they were tey would have to sit on their rollators and not everyone has one. Like you I would not know a safe mushroom for a bad one so just buy them when I want. I have a nice Porterhouse steak in my freezer, do you want that? Come and get it.

AMY  sorry you did not get your drive in yesterday. I know I would love to go for a ride down to the shore and smell that salt water breeze coming off the Atlantic.

JANE  I have never had quiche and always wabted to try it. My daughter makes it and my SIL likes it.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Woke to the sound of the loons flying over. I have a list of to do's but will see how they get done. Need to shop for my friend and meet another at the fence  ...so will just take the day as it comes. Then if I get any thing else done it will be a nice surprise.

Gloria, we used to eat puff balls. They are a huge  dinner plate size mushroom. Mom would slice it and fry in butter. My cousin he would slice it thin, butter it with mayo and eat it that way.

Jane the quiche sounds good. I have some baby spinach to put in one....when ever I get around to making it.

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone

Stay safe.

I slept better last night than I have in a month of Sundays!  I was only up once and I went right back to sleep.  Slept from about 11:30 to a little after 7 this morning.  I ready for the day!

GLORIA, we're having a rainy day here too.  It's supposed to last most of the day.  It's not raining hard right now...just a drizzle and I don't think it rained hard overnight because the porch isn't wet.

Today, I'm going to do some laundry.  My button up pajamas are all in the laundry basket and it's time to do whatever goes in with them.  Then I think I'm cooking pork chops for supper.  I haven't decided what goes with them yet.

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And be sure to share it with all your friends!

Note to AMY:  Nice to hear the loons are back.  I've heard the Mourning Doves several times now and that's my sign of Spring!

Meat is getting scarce here, too, Shirley.  One of the big chicken farms east of us (Tyson ?) has been bringing in refrigerated semi-trucks and selling right from the trucks here in Raleigh area.  People have been lining up in their cars the night before the sale opens and waiting all night.  The state police have had to come out for traffic control.  It's been crazy.  Not much available in the stores, I understand.  I buy most of my meat from Schwan's or online and most of their meat is now "out of stock".  We eat a lot of pasta and soup.

We had warnings of severe weather for yesterday but it never happened.  Only a little bit of rain.  Today it is cloudy but supposed to clear and be sunny later in the day.  We've had storms and storm damage all around us this Spring but nothing right here and I'm really grateful for that.  One neighborhood just a couple miles away had wind damage and power outages earlier this week but nothing at all here.

I did a lot more cooking yesterday and both fridge and freezer are groaning.  So, other than baking some potatoes that are beginning to sprout I don't plan to do any cooking.  I'll just let the microwave do some reheating.  And I'm not going to bake  anything else, either.  The yeast didn't arrive yesterday so I can't make any more bread.  One piece of good news....we did get a huge box of dishwasher detergent from Amazon!  No more hand washing dishes.  I'm doing a happy dance!

Jane, I forgot to answer your question about the stimulus money.  Mine was deposited on the first day that they released the funds.  But, I file my taxes online so the gov't already had my direct deposit information and that made it go faster.  If the check had to be mailed to you they said it would be much slower to arrive.

Take care. All.

JANE, what about browning your pork chops then put in crockpot and add mushroom soup  and onions and let it slow cook? OR you can stuff them with dressing and bake....

I forgot to take notes as I read messages from when here last.. got all excited about that link, Rick.... have never seen anything like it so bookmarked and will order today! I do have the spray my son told me about, think it kills odor and supposed to keep them from returning to repeat their mess in that spot. To be honest, that spray doesn't smell too good, either. Thanks, Rick, that will be a big help as long as Mama Callie is here. She honestly believes she is protecting me, I think.

We have had rain all around, sometimes heavy with street flooding. The river didn't look high last night but think they got enough rain west of us that should flush out the trash. The beaver leaves a lot of wood that it can't get out to the water, really needs to be burned but would not try by myself. I'm surprised they don't do something about it to keep from clogging up the dams.

Gloria, don't you wish we could just zip around & visit each other?  Guess I'll have to wait until able to mosey around the stores to find a good steak, we have one meat market west of town that does their own butchering and raise their own cattle. Good idea, will give them a call and might be a chance to take a ride like Amy! I need to see what Callie cat will do in the RV, am so torn what to do about her when we head to the mountains.

Jane, I also need to do laundry, going from 2 seasons of clothes has left little piles here & there. Sure be glad when we can get past these germs. Right now I won't let anyone come inside my house since I don't know what I had. Soon as the rain is past I plan to open & air the house. That was my mother's cure for a winter of germs. Take all covers off the beds & air them, too. Somehow it is a much bigger job that 80 years ago.  :crazy2:

Next time those big mushrooms/toadstools pop up out back, I'll take another photo. Have some from last year but no idea what SD card or thumb drive they would be on. Not kidding, they get as large as a plate between mowing times. I think my father said the good kind grow in shade with lots of ground cover, etc. These grow in wide open spaces.

Breakfast time. Glad the loons are back, Amy, our egrets are as well. Have not see the great big ones or the blue herons yet. City tore up their nesting ground so they may not be back. So awful to have such a place destroyed, an old farm that the city surrounded, put in housing & "they" didn't like the smells caused by so many big birds. We had more birds nesting in that one spot than any of the sanctuaries along the Gulf Coast.

Probably be a few posts ahead of me but I will not comment more, tummy growling. Been sitting here more than an hour, looking out the door, watching cats & clouds rolling back in. Need to get in gear and quit playing lazy. Have a Fantastic Friday, Every Friend!  Love ya, Shirley  Phyll, I have a niece living in your area, retired Dr of geriatric medicine, her husband has cancer. Have not seen her for years. Our doves stay year around & have been putting seed on the ground under the feeder. They won't eat out of the feeder. Was not going to talk any more so I'm outta here! Amy, I fixed a huge skillet of pork chops like that out camping & sons loved it.

Just marking my place.  I am doing as good as all the rest of you.  Slept in later than I usually do. I ate lunch instead of breakfast. Now need to get dressed and do my exercises and go walking down the hall.  It just takes me so long to get going in the morning.  I am just not a morning  person.  By late afternoon, I do wake up.

I just hope things don't get worse again, if places open up too quick.  I do miss my seeing my family.

Please stay safe.

Joy, I'm still piddling around & like you, combine 2 meals. Since I made a habit of having lunch late my neighbor called it "lupper".

Rick, still researching on Amazon, then decided to check Chewy to see what they have. In all I've checked the reviews aren't perfect!  ;)  My internet is off & on every few seconds to not a good time to shop.

SHIRLEY, my daughter Cindy wondered aloud one time, "if you have lunch late, do you call it Dunch or Lupper?"  She finally decided that it was the choice of the person who's eating it!  So you have a choice.

I have my second load of laundry in and the first is drying.  I have one more to go.  I was running out of two things....shirts that button and pajama pants.

As for the pork chops, I have a recipe I want to try.  You brown the chops then add crushed pineapple and salsa and some other spices to the pan.  What I was wondering was what to have WITH them.

I think the dryer stopped so I better go tend to that.  I'll try to check in later.  Keep on keeping on!

Hello,

I'm here - been mostly reading posts on my Tablet and I really don't like the "hunt and peck" needed to reply on it.  Of course, this computer is....oh...maybe....15 feet from the recliner but....  ;D

The tornadoes were a long way from here - but Madill isn't that far from my hometown and the storm did move in that direction.  Friend texted that the sirens went off but they didn't have to take shelter.

Some of the OKC area had big hailstones and high winds but, fortunately, all that happened here was torrential rain "every once in a while".
So glad I got the "pot garden" planted on Tuesday!

Other than the garden center and a quick trip to the post office to send some certified mail, I haven't been outside the complex gates since April 1.
Jane, just saw your post about filing taxes....    Mine were also filed electronically but the certified mail were the checks I had to mail in.  The Oklahoma ones (tax and 1st estimate) have cleared and I've gotten the receipts.  Who knows how long it will take the federal ones to do so.

Son has kept my freezer well stocked with meat.  I have chicken, round steak, fish sticks and ham slices - as well as three packages of ground meat from the fresh beef he/brother order every year. No additives!  I made meat loaf last evening and froze 7 of the 8 slices for meals later on.
Also have 3 lovely frozen salmon filets from son's fishing trip to Alaska a couple of years ago.  Fixed one of those the other night....Yum Ohh!  Other than seasoned with something Mexican, I don't think it would be possible to have salmon I didn't like.

LOL at what to call a late lunch.  I'd heard "Lupper" but never thought about Dunch. I eat all meals later than most folks do but blood sugar control means I can't skip or wait too long for any of the three or I get "goofy" because the level goes down too far.  I was diagnosed as "mildly diabetic" almost 20 years ago and feel fortunate that I got it under control and have kept it so without having to take meds or get shots.

That's it from this corner.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

We had an awesome day..so much for planning a day taking as it comes is a lot better! As we were to head out to the cheese factory we stopped by the grocery store..only 4 in line so pulled in and I waited with the other ladies. Bought my friends groceries and got some for us then off to the cheese factory. The day was cloudy so easy on the eyes to drive....picked up 10 or so packages of cheese......two  being old and the others were Kyles favorite one Old Sharpe. Coming home we stopped at Micky D's for a burgers then tootled on home.  Phoned my neighbour and we met at the fence and gave her another mask..can't make regular sized ones for her as she is maybe 4'8 and tiny face.So make to fit.

All the work that should have got done is now on a list for tomorrow..minus one load of laundry which is being done now. Bread will be made along with a pot of baked beans tomorrow...The sun will come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

Sounds like Everyfriend had a good day!  Me too!  I finished 3 loads of laundry and got them all put away.  And I made the pork chops for supper (they turned out great and I'm keeping that recipe).

I also took Mickie for a very short walk all by myself.  She was very well behaved and responded to each tug of the leash.  We might try for a longer walk tomorrow.

Now I'm heading for Dreamland. I'm tired and ready to sleep.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone. Looks like it will be a nice day and even get into the low 50's. Hope I can get outside later. More rain tomorrow again.

AMY  you like shopping? I know my CNA does. you must be looking forward to the loons serenading you again.

JANE  yesterday I woke early and felt good. By the time I had my coffee and breakfast I laid on the couch and slept 3 more hours. Got about 7 hours last night and that is more normal for me. I have not had a porkchop in a long time. Sounds good though. I do have some in the freezer and some home made applesauce.  Something to have CNA cook next week.

SHIRLEY  just think if we could say Beam me up to Shirley's house ot any other of our SS family . Would be great to get all of us together and have our coffee together. Wonderful dream, right? That would be the only way for me to travel anymore.

JOY  I think some states are opening too fast. Our governor is being cautious. All parks are closed and the beaches, too. Some folks are worried they will not be able to go to the beaches here when it finaly warms up. Someone was walking aong the shore and a poliman saw it and that person was arrested for breaking the new law. Glad you are doing so much better.

SHIRLEY  my daughter calls that late lunch earley dinner(in Ca. everyone calls it dinner, not supper) linner.

CALLIE  it  has got to the point I have 2 meals a day. My oatmeal with  dried fruit, walnuts and sunflower seeds and a couple of other things added. It is a full meal when it is cooked and then late afternoon I have my supper.

AMY  yesterday the man whose job here is to tenants with problems-actually the witches lackey-knocked at the door. Someome made masks for everyone in the building. I tried it on and it is a mile too big for me. I hooked it aroung my ears and it fell beneath my chin. Like your neighbor I have a small face.

BUBBLE  great graphic for these times. Some people here in RI are making signs in front of their homes thanking doctors and nursed for working so hard to help those with this dreaded virus.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I got up to 45º already this morning!  And it's supposed to get into the mid-60s today.  Gonna be a good day!

Cathy is braving the grocery store this morning with her list and mine!  I try to keep mine as short as I can and only get what's necessary to get her back out of the store as fast as possible.

I don't have much to contribute this morning but I'll be back later because I have some things planned and I'm hoping the day goes as I wish.

I hope you all have a lovely day!

Good morning everyone..
Lovely sunny day here, frost on the grass but soo will be gone. Laundry to do and hang out and will put some baked beans on it the instant pot to cook while I make bread.

My friend told me about a hoagie bun recipe and if time permits may try that also. Maybe make half the recipe as it takes 8 - 8 1/2 cups of flour!

Gloria, my friend can't /shouldn't shop because of her immune system and I will pick up items for her and her daughter will pick up items for us.  I won't do Costco while this is on. I am careful when I do shop as Kyle also has a compromised immune system. I wear gloves and a mask. Sure felt funny going into the bank yesterday with a mask on!!

Jane, will you post the pork chop recipe please. I may have a jar or two of homemade salsa left. That is on the list to make this year.

Bubble, thank you for the graphic. One hospital in the area asked for 1000 masks and in 48 hours had 700 . The sewers in the area got busy and more than met the demand.

Better get the laundry started.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Amen to the graphic about nurses, Bubble.  I've spent a LOT of time in hospitals and have always said that nurses were God's angels on earth.  I've met maybe one or two that I thought were in the wrong profession but all of the others were people that I had the greatest respect for their kindness and patience and untiring willingness to care for everyone.

I have yeast!!! :nanadance2:  :cheer:  :dancingdog:  A pound arrived yesterday and I proofed it right away.   It's Alive!  It's Alive!    I'll be making bread today, too, Amy.

I've dawdled here long enough.  So I must go eat breakfast....or is it brunch by now?  Back when I was a kid in KS. the noon meal was called dinner and the evening meal was supper so if you combined them I guess it would be called dupper?  or dipper?    :idiot2:

Later.

I'm off to Dreamland!  I watched "Grumpy Old Men" off and on tonight between naps.  Just couldn't keep my eyes open for all of it.

I started a new exercise today and it's not easy.  I sure hope repetition makes it easier as I go on.  Mickie and I took several nice walks today and I think I'm going to tell my son he doesn't have to interrupt his work day to do that job for me.  She behaves pretty well and it's one of the easier things I do with my day.  I like being out and she loves her walks.

I'm up too!  It's raining in Central PA. and it's supposed to do that all day.  Yesterday was so nice and now the rain is back. Oh well!  April showers are supposed to bring May flowers.  I sure hope that's right!

Cathy's coming over this morning and I'm going to get a shower while she's here.  That's not easy but it feels so good when I'm done that it's worth the effort.  Funny how much you appreciate things that are usually commonplace and then are taken away....like a good meal, a nice walk in the sunshine and a shower.  I might also add a good night's sleep and the daily company of friends and family!

We're just waiting for the boinger and then breakfast.

Good morning everyone..
Overcast day here with rain to come later in the day.
Will bag up the leaves Kyle raked up yesterday and that is it. Friends are coming for their groceries and nothing else is planned .
The meat loaf I made for supper was ok but not one I will repeat. I will stick to the regular meatloaf. This was a Pioneer Woman recipe and the meat loaf was wrapped in bacon.

Jane, how true that is that one takes things for granted. Guess the old saying you never miss the water till the well runs dry hits it on the nail.

Lloyd, have a great day.

Better get the leaves raked up before the rain dampens them..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone 40 to sta rt my day. We ather guesser s were wrong again. Was supposed to start raining last night but now  it will start late afternoon and rain all day tomorrow.  Oh well be st to go back to the days of year s ago when we woke  in the morning t o see what the  day would be like. Beautiful sunshine yesterday so I did get outside for some walking around. Of course after about 10 minutes the clouds moved in and it got cold so I came inside again. Sound like I have an exciting life?

JANE  I would not like going shopping these days. I am glad my CNA likes to shop. I told her she should be a professional shopper.

AMY  here there are a few who still go shopping and get things for some others. If Yvette could not coy weeklday I could order online and have it delivered.

PHYLLIS  glad you finally got yeast and can make bread. I sure would love a warm slice-the end slice-while still warm and butter it and enjoy the flavor and texture.

LLOYD  there are some prople who never learn to copy/paste and it really is not hard. It was Oscar back in Bis' Busy Nest who told me how to do it.

JANE  loved the Grumpy old men, lots of laughs in it. Right now I have Grit on with an OLD John Wayne "B" movie before he became so popular.  Every Sunday they have some of his old movies, some in B/W and some colorized.

LLOYD  I slpt about 7 hours last night and that felt great.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Cloudy here but no rain and supposed to clear this afternoon.

The bread I made with the new yeast was OK but not a total success.  I need to do some more experimenting.  I used too much yeast and it rose too fast, too high, and then fell quite a bit.  Tastes pretty good but is a little too yeasty...even for me.  I did a little research on the King Arthur site and learned that instant yeast has to be used in slightly smaller amounts than other kinds of yeast so will reduce what I put in next time.

Amy, we are having the US version of Chelsea Buns this morning.  Good old Cinnamon Rolls.  Store bought, I must confess.  Maybe one of these days I'll try some Chelsea Buns.  They aren't very much different.  https://www.delightfulrepast.com/2012/05/chelsea-buns-and-cinnamon-rolls.html

I must get brunch on a little earlier today because David needs to pick up a grocery order at 11 a.m.
I don't expect to get everything I ordered but will be happy with whatever shows up.

Sounds as though you are doing very well, Jane.  Good for you.

Take care, All.

Good Morning from a sunny, cool (so far) central Oklahoma,

Amy,  Dil made the Pioneer Woman meat loaf while we were in Wisconsin for Christmas. It was good.  However, I tried it later on and didn't like it at all.  Don't know what the difference was but using bread instead of crackers or oatmeal made mine "pasty".
BTW,  did you know the Pioneer Woman is an Okie?  Don't hear too much about her in local media but her restaurant and store in Pawhuska are very popular tourist spots and not all that far from OKC.  I've been to Pawhuska but not since she opened her businesses.

Not much going on in my world.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, no I didn't know that. She does cook some interesting dishes . I have another recipe to try for the meat loaf and that one will be next on the list. Not much to it either but I am told it is tasty.

Several years ago, my bridge foursome was in Pawhuska on one of our wanderings around Oklahoma. This was long before Ree Drummond became famous.  We had lunch at a small downtown café and poked around in a few stores.  I can't imagine how her "Mercantile" and connected B&B have changed things.
Pawhuska isn't very big and I'm sure her businesses have taken up most of the downtown area.

Hope EVERYFRIEND  enjoyed their Sunday.  We sure did.  We finished up a jigsaw puzzle we finally got back to yesterday after finishing up the pictures I worked on all week.  We decided we would go pick up a pizza and drive to a spot and watch planes coming and going at one of the smaller airports near us.  That pizza tasted SO good to me.  It felt so good to be out of the house.

I have not been in a store for 44 days today.....UGH!  We are going to start having some businesses open tomorrow here in our county......it is a scary thought....and I sure hope we are not pushing it too soon.  Other counties around us are not opening anything for another two weeks.

I wish you all a good night of rest.

Jenny

good Morning everyone. Denver are you up early or late, 12:11:54 am it says ?
Nancy and I also do jigsaw puzzle. but have not in awhile, we have to take the crocheted table cloth off the master dining room table to do a puzzle. my mother made the table cloth for us, It is little fine thread, it is a pineapple dezine, it starts in the center with a circle about 12" in diameter then some stripes that widen out about 18" long with a arrow head on them then the pineapple's. the table is 6 foot long with 6 chairs around it. the table cloth hangs almost to the flower all around. when we have family get to gathers can seat 12 people up stairs  six down stair's at that table and about 10 along the Bar down there. not a drinking bar. just for eating and soft drinks, water and  or coffee and tea. we are tea totters. we have had 50 people here all at same time and not too crowed. the family room down there has a full kitchen in one end and is 30 foot wide and 50 foot long, two bed rooms a laundry and furnace room and a bath room down there. Have a great day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE.
:hb2: :hb2 :hb3:

Good morning everyone. Still raining and just checked the weather on the computer and it will be turning to snow this afternoon and then a mix till it ends early tomorrow morning. Of course we know better than to believe forecasts. Just heard that star ting today health  care workers starting today will get hazard pay of $ 20.-an hour. That means CNA's will get what they deserve for now.

PHYLLIS  ever go to a big mall and smell the aroma of the cinnamon buns baking? I have been to a mall here over the border in Mass. and when you get to the area where they have them just have to have coffee and my DIL and I would split one. Too big for either of us to eat. My other DIL was on a spree of baking and made them and would give me one and it was yummy.

CALLIE  best meatloaf  I ever had was one a brother made. I don't know what seasoning he put in it but was so tasty.

JANE  I did ave a good sleep last night. Hope I have no more of the sleepless ones.

LLOYD  yesterday on the GRIT channel I watched 3 old John Wayne movies. Some colorized and others black/white.  They have been on most every Sunday. He sure was young in them.

JENNY  I have not been out aywhere since New Years day when I went to # 1 son's home for dinner. When this mess started I cancelled all my appointments. Even the town car I use to get to doctor's cancelled all rides.

HAVE A GOOD DAY AND SAY SAFE.

Good Morning Everyriend!  We're up and attem and also facing another rainy day.  It's not only dreary, it's chilling, too.  I guess this is a good one not to have to go anywhere.  Or is it not to be ABLE to go anywhere?

Thank you all for the good wishes...Jackie/Vanilla, Bubble, Jenny, Gloria...   And I got an ecard from Cathy first thing this morning and a face time call from Cindy in Texas last night.  We talked for almost an hour.  And Cathy gave me almost a week to decide where I wanted to "go" for dinner on my birthday.  I chose Kentucky Fried Chicken and she's bringing me that for my dinner today.

Mickie and I have a few minutes to wait for the boinger for breakfast an then I'll have to get dressed and take her for a walk!  She's learned to expect her walks and I kind of enjoy them too...if it isn't raining!

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And be sure to share it with you nosyinterested friends!

:hb3:  :hb3:  Jane  :hb3:  :hb3:  May you be blessed with many more dear lady..

Good morning everyone..

Last nights sun set was a photographer's dream. The colours were beautiful.

Today is take Kyle to the lumber mill to pick up some wood, shop for my friend then home again to work .

Phyllis, they are just about the same only one is stickier/gooier than the other. Both really good hot from the oven though :) I use 4 tsp of instant yeast and end up with 3  one pound loaves. No need to proof the yeast ,just mix in with the flour.

Gloria, I think we are in for rain here....then it is to be a nice day on Tue. Most of the snow has gone, just a wee bit in the bush still. Swallows are checking out the  bird houses and soon will be laying eggs. Skunks are out :)

Jane, hope your day is a day to remember for you. I know this darn Covid 19 has caused a lot of problems with people getting together but knowing your family they will have  special day for you.

Lloyd, that is a keepsake for sure not many crochet let alone do the pineapple pattern.

Shirley, how is your day going.?

Better get a move on.

Take care and stay safe..

Jane, Wishing you a happy birthday from a social distance!

Good morning, All.  Sunny and breezy here.  Thunder, rain, and wind just north of us last night but nothing here so all is well.

Gosh, Amy, I haven't had Date Nut Bread in years.  When I used to belong to this and that organization and each would have their Christmas get-together someone would always bring a Date Nut Loaf of bread.   I loved them.

Gloria, Tom and I would share a Cinnabon, too, because they were so big.  Delicious.  We don't have one here now.  Our near-by mall is nearly empty and is supposed to be torn down and replaced with apartment bldgs., hotels, and retail of all kinds in the coming years.

Make it a good day, Everyone.

Thank you AMY, SHIRLEY and PHYLLIS.  My Texans and Oklahomans were supposed to be visiting this past weekend but like everyone else, they had to stay home.  I would have had some hugs from Emma (my great-granddaughter) and I'm missing all of them!  They have rescheduled for late August and I hope that works.  That's the last that ALLISON will be able to travel before my new Great Grandson is born in October.

I've decided to goof off today.  Besides running the dishwasher and putting away the dishes, my plan is to do whatever suits my fancy.  It's my day and if I can't have my family around I'm going to sulk a little and then do puzzles and games and watch TV until Cathy gets here later.

I hope you are all having a pleasant day!

Yes, Happy Birthday Jane.  Enjoy it the best you can in our "unable to have family nearby" situation!  I have been wanting KFC for days.  You just solved it for me. I am going to the drive-thru bank in a bit, and KFC is right there, so I give up; I will get me some finger-lickin' good Col. Sanders chicken! :)

Thanks for the good wishes CALLIE and TOMEREADER!  I'm not really sulking...just regretting the fact that the faraway part of my family couldn't make the trip.  Fact is, I haven't had time to sulk.  I've had grandkids and niece and nephew on my phone wishing me happy birthday a lot of the time.  I only have one niece nd I refer to her as MFN (my favorite niece)and she calls me MFAJ (My Favorite Aunt Janie).  She has numerous aunts on her father's side but we've always been close.  And now Mickie wants a walk and I think I'd like that, too.

Bye for now!

Oh, Janie, you are the last person I would expect to sulk, complain or whine about anything - at least in public.
That song popped into my head when I read your post and I just couldn't resist a bit of loving teasing.  :smitten:

This has turned out to be a Productive Day for me.

I think I've mentioned the half gallon of Listerine due to my son's interpretation of my request for a "large" bottle.
This morning, I managed to open an almost 2 pound jar of peanut butter (same situation) that wouldn't fit in my jar opener. (Whacking edge on sink and muttering in a threatening tone works wonders.  :knuppel2:)  ;D

Then I found the can of WD-40 I had carefully put where I could reach it more easily - and then promptly forgot where that was.  :uglystupid2:

Now I'm off to see if I can get some windows to open more easily when I want to air things out.  Can't do that today because the wind is strong and the pollen count is high  :tissue:

Good morning everyone, rain finally stopped for now. Glad my CNA goes to the market today for me so for a change she will not get rained on. Yesterday the first thing Yvette did was give me a good back massage with the Hempvana and it sure helped my back. Son 2 told me last night tha t he will need a new jar of it becaus the one I gave him is getting low. Good thing I just ordered 2 more jars of it. Of all the different things I triep it wor ks better than any of the others I tried.

LLOYD  would be great if we couold all get together and finally meet in person. I can dream of it but  I no longer can travel. Just the few minutes it takes to go anywhere I need  to wears me out. All doctors I go  to are pretty close to where I live.  Then takes a couple of days to rest up from it. Wish I could travel.

JANE  we broke a record yesterday that was set at  44  in 1917 and it was  43 yesterday. Not a record to jump  for joy breaking. I have not had KFC for a long time.

AMY  you are a good friend with all you do for friends. I know haw hard it is to go shopping these days and I sure appreciate Yvette will shop for me. That date nut loaf sounds so yummy. I cheat and use the package of date bread and add more dates and some nuts. Not as good as made from scratch but good for lazy people like I am now. I like the aroma and taste of nutmeg, too. I have sof the whole nuts and grate some of the nut into different thing I have made. Much bet ter taste ground fresh than the grated one in the jars.

PHYLLIS  there is only one mall near us but I have only been there twice with my DIL and we shared a cinnabon both times.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning to all my dear friends!  You are the best!   JOY and LLOYD I thank you for your wishes.  My day was one of the best I've ever had!

Cathy and Cindy worked together to plan a group phone call that was shown on my iPad.  Every one of my kids, their spouses and my grandkids and even Emma my Ggranddaughter participated.  I had the Texans, the Okies, the Marylanders, the locals and even my grandson and his special and her son from Mexico.  We had about an hour when everyone could be seen and everyone talked.  I was overwhelmed!  I kept telling them that the only thing that could have been better was if they had all been in my living room in person.  I'm still in a state of shock!!  And I keep seeing and hearing them talk!  It was the best thing they could have given me for my birthday.

The KFC was good too but it was eclipsed by the sight of all the family!
And today the sun is peeking through and it's supposed to get into the low 60s by mid afternoon!  A typical Spring day!

Today, Mickie is 13!

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with all of us!

Good Morning,

Oh, Janie, what a lovely birthday visit with all of your family.  Ain't technology great?   :smitten:  ;D

I thought I would be able to get a hair cut today but the local City Council decided not to honor the governor's opening hair salons last Friday and decreed that ours cannot open until this weekend.
Guess another week of looking like a shaggy bear (and feeling a bit like one, too "Grrrrr") - - -  well, I can't think of anything nice to say about it so will  :-X .

Hello Everyfriend!  You must have all been having a special day of some kind because no one has been in here since around 11 this morning.  I sure hope you all had a great day.

I made some soup today with the leftover KFC and the broth from cooking the chicken for dog food over the weekend.  I added some veggies and some spices and an envelope of onion soup mix and some pasta shells and it was delicious!  I have enough for 2 more big bowls.

Now I'm heading for Dreamland!  Mickie's had her last outie.  I reported out to Cathy and I'm off to get myself ready to sleep.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

We had a beautiful day here in the Mile High City.  Bob worked in the small patch of grass by our back deck de thatching the grass.  Our grass is taken care of by the HOA, but we like to give ours here by our deck some extra attention😘 We are going to plant some seeds after the lawn service mows tomorrow.

JANE, your Birthday sounded very special for you.  Best wishes form many more healthy and happy years.

AMY, I read that Kyle bought more lumber......is he going to build you more planters? I can remember what you called them😘 I know you were going to the. He ese factory not too long ago.....more cheese curds to enjoy, I hope?

GLORIA, sure glad that Yvette takes such good care of you.....those back rubs sound so nice.

LLOYD, you asked if I was posting late or early.....it was DEFINITELY late.....ever since this lockdown we have been staying up later and later and sleeping in later in the morning.  Ido not really care for this schedule but it seems to be the norm these days.  That dining table of yours sounds really nice.....you and Nancy could have three or four jigsaw puzzles going at the same time!

Our California Family planned to start their drive towards Colorado tomorrow, but they are not quite done packing everything up, so now they will leave on Thursday.  It will be three full days of driving and it is going to be tough with our 16 month old grandson.  He does not like to be contained at this point in his mobile life.....so I hope and pray he will settle in and do quite a bit of sleeping 🙏

Tomorrow Michele has another round of chemo.  She is still waiting for the OK from the insurance company for the MRI.  😩🙏🙏

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Good morning everyone, 33 now and clear supposed to go to mid 50's and sunshine all day. Well I had been sleeping good for almost a week and this morning here I am at 3:30 am.

JANE  what a wonderful way for your family celebrated your birthday with you. When my daughter first moved to Ca. we talked opn the phone Christmas Eve for at least an hour. When the boys came along and got older they  would talk to me and open the gifts I sent them, fun times. Now we get together on Skype and I talk with all of them. Would love having all my famioy on Skype at the same time but my 2 sons are busy  with guests. I go to Older son's  home for Christmas dinner  and make sure my son takes me home early enough before it gets too noisy with all DIL's family. They are  all nice people but with all the youngsters it gets loud. That is cannot stand anymore.

PHYLLIS  yesterday morning I laid on the couch to watch Perry Mason and fell asleep and woke just before noon. My CNA usually is here at noon but yesterday it was 12:30 she was due. Good thing, gave me time to get dressed.

JENNY  those back rubs Yvette gives me with the hempvana makes it feel good the rest of the day, takes most of the pain away. I do miss them on the week ends. Insurance companies sure take their time to OK MRI's and CT scans.

I did get outside yesterday and it was so nice with sunshine and a light breeze. I walked around a bit then sat on the poch in the sunshine all by myself. There were 2 ladies sitting near the elevator when I came in. That was my exciting day.
Had my coffee and not will go get my breakfast.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone.

Our trip to the city proved interesting. Areas that we could go in to let the dogs out are now roped off, as are all the washrooms one could go in before this virus struck!
No traffic to speak of even on the main street of town very little traffic. We were surprised that where once was Sears store has now been taken down, no debris what so ever.  Another landmark was on the last bit of demolition, that once house the Poppycock and Ovaltine factory.  Lots of changes since we had been to the city. Houses and barns being built too.
We did get what we went for and high tailed  it back home.

Today we have two friend coming one this morning to pick up a moving trolley  and when he comes back he will also have my order from Costco and I will have their order ready for them. Then another friend is coming to look at his trug that he will soon pick up.

Gloria, we are work together here getting items for each other.Or just lending a hand when needed.Happy to read you did get out for a bit yesterday. I think we all are looking forward to the warmer weather.

Jane, I also cooked chicken up for the dogs and it smelled so good that I will make some soup for us with the broth. Have two other packages to cook up but not right now. They have some chicken, rice and carrot to clean up first.

Jenny, Kyle is making crates that one can put in the back of a vehicle to put your items in.Will send you a photo of them ,he even made little ones so I will take mine in the grocery store to pack my groceries in. My easier than in a bag.

Better get a move on, still in jammies and don't want to get caught!!!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's already 46º here and heading into the mid 60s later today! I can take a day like this a lot more often.  Coupled with the fact that I slept pretty well last night, it makes for a good day!

JENNY, I'm still keeping Michelle in my prayers and I'll add your travelers to my list, too, wishing them safe travels across the states to your area!

Added note to AMY who beat me here:  Sounds like you had a pretty productive day yesterday.  Cheers to KYLE for the shopping crate idea!  I love it!  I favor boxes over bags every day but never thought of crates!  Keep him!  He's a smart guy!

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning, Gloria.... bright eyed & busy tailed, I see! It has been a few days since I got up as early as you, not sure why. Cats have been sleeping outside when warm enough & I learned not to leave the sliding door by my bed open so they don't pester to go in & out. Miss the fresh air, but they think I'm laying there just to wait on them.

Need to make a trip to Walmart for bread for the fish today. Been so many of them I've been giving them a whole sandwich loaf every night, you'd think they never got anything else to eat! This last week I found racks of it for 49¢ a loaf but only got 4 because I was afraid it would mold before using up. I talk to them & laugh when they run into each other after the same bite.... they kind of float away when I quit talking, afraid not me & don't want to bite on a hook, lots of people fish along the river. Not a very exciting life, huh?

Heard on the radio that Callie is supposed to be in the path of storms today. 'Tis the season, but I dread the damage those storms cause. Cats had their tuna fish breakfast so better get on with my day. Maybe we will start living a normal life soon, you think?

Okay, Amy, Jane & Lloyd showed up, so the early birds are okay!  We don't seem to have many frogs around here anymore, maybe the river too polluted. Soon as people can come around I need to call & have the AC man check it out, the pool man to come open & put the filter back together, get the RV UN-winterized & half a dozen other spring jobs taken care of.

The crates sound interesting, Amy, love to see a photo. Cas used to get on a jag of making different things, bird feeders and houses (golf clubs). Wish I had saved more bird houses for around here but he gave them all away.

Jane, sounds like you are starting to get back to your more normal routine with walking the pup. How much longer is it supposed to take before totally healed? I don't handle all these health issues very well, don't recall my parents complaining about them.

Lloyd, we've been bumping the 80s already so I'm dreading summer. Where I am sitting I can see out the front window & also out the back sliding door. Leaves are blowing pretty good out front & nothing moving out back. We must be in the middle of changing weather & that usually means storms.

I am really hungry so will check in later. Hope everyone has a great day.

Good morning.  I set the alarm so I would not sleep the day away. I find if I get right up and eat I am ok.  It is when I decide to sit in the recliner before I eat something, I fall back to sleep and then I am sleepy and drowsy all day.

The computer kind of keeps me awake.  Nothing special today.  I was supposed to have a doctor's appt. next Monday, but the doctor's office called and changed it to a phone visit.  So, won't have to worry about having to dress up and go out.

Jean, you asked me if I still do my exercises and I do.  I don't do them all,but I do walk in the halls several times a day. I do plan on keeping that up.  I can tell that it is helping. I can walk up my hallway and back without stopping. Then, I go down to the end, which is the end of the building with a nice big window. I sit there for a few minutes to rest a bit, and then do another walk up and down.

I need to clean up the kitchen and get dressed.  Then, will get on with my day.  I am thinking of going down to our library, which will take care of my walk for this morning.  It is all the way at the opposite end of the building from where I am, so I am sure I will have to rest along the way.  But, I can sit down in the library and look for some new books to read.

Nice to see Gloria, Amy, Jane, Lloyd, Shirley, and Jenny, who was here before any of us.  Hope all of you are doing well and stay that way.

Good morning.....just barely.  We have been out working around and it is pretty warm out there today......so pretty.  Still waiting on mowers to come through before we feel safe to plant the grass seed.

Today is Michele's 30th Chemo.....this has proven to be a long fought battle for her, but she has never swayed from her amazing positive attitude... God bless her🙏 Thank you ALL again so very much for your continued support and prayers💞💞

AMY, I love the boxes your Kyle made and today I see you mentioned the "trug"......I could not for the life of me pull up that name last night when I was posting.  I love the way you shop for some things and friends shop for others.....works great.  I wish we had the same option here....especially if we could share some of the large item packages with others.....Shocking isn't how fast buildings are torn down and how fast some are put up.  When we drive into the City there is always some that we see missing or new going up.

SHIRLEY, we are having a real hard time buying chicken here....yesterday Bob picked up some leg and thigh pieces at Sam's and they were a big disappointment.....the way they are cut it has like a piece of the back bone in it or some bone....not the thigh bone I expected.  Gurrrrr. Costco normally has these nice packages of legs, thighs, breast.....there are NONE of them in the stores now ever!  He said the meat counter in Costco was nearly empty.  I am thinking we are going to have a lot more shortages in the near future now with so many of the meant packing plants shut down from Covid......it is frightening.

GLORIA, happy for you that the back rub and the hemp cream works so well.

JANE, thank you for the added prayers for our traveling family...worries me that Megan will be driving the van alone with a Jonah in the back seat.....we feel he is not going to be a happy camper being contained for so long.....pray she can keep her eyes on the road.....🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

CALLIE, I hope you stay safe from the bad storms headed your way.

Enjoy the rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND❣️

Jenny

Hello Everyfriend!  We've had two walks all the way around the circle and one about half way.  We'll have another one after supper.  It's been a beautiful day!  Frankie stopped by on he way to work and left me a little pot of flowers blooming now and suitable for planting in the garden.

SHIRLEY, I don't know how long the healing process is for this kind of break but I have to get xrays on the 7th and I have a tele appt with the Orthopedist on the 8th.  Maybe he'll have something to say about that.

I've taken to weeding a small patch of the garden that adjoins the driveway when we get back from our walks.  It's not easy standing on the leash and pulling weeds with only one hand but it's starting to show what I've been doing.  And I makes me feel good to be doing it!

Cathy will be along soon so I think I'll try to get Mickie fed so we can all walk together while she's here.  I hope the rest of your day is good.  You all deserve the best!

They say it's ok to talk to yourself as long as you don't also answer so I'm not commenting on anything I said above.  I'm just going to wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

well I am up but not at it. haven't slept a wink, but finely came in here so Nancy could get a little rest. tossing and turning never do either of us any good. I am going to the couch see if the t v will do the trick. at least until  the sun comes up, then I can go to the shop and put the new engine on the lawnmower.  the grass is getting tall enough to mow for hay. we don't have but two cows left and I think we will sell them.  either do that or buy some more.
dont think will do that unless we get things fixed on the ownership of the farm and tony and Nicole move in with us. Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's going to be a busy morning!  I have an appointment with the Chiropractor/Kinesiologist this afternoon and Cathy is going to be here while I get a shower.  Mickie has been out and we're waiting for the boinger and I'm hoping we can squeeze in breakfast and a short walk before Cathy gets here.

I'll try to visit later after I'm ready for the appt and waiting for Cathy to come back and pick me up.  In the meantime....

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And scoot back in here to share it with all of us!  We need the company!

Good morning everyone..

We have liquid sunshine and I think it will stay all day..Not sure what is happening now other than I need to deliver some masks. Thankfully there has been no call for cancer quilts in this time. I would like to think that there are no new cases but that would  be wishful  thinking.

Phyllis, hope all is well there.

Jane, little steps in using your arm, don't over do it.

Better get going and see what might be on the agenda that I am not aware of yet.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Wet here, too.  Storms overnight but I slept through them.  I don't think we had any limbs down in our yard but until it gets lighter out there I won't be able to tell.

I should scratch around the nest a little today and at least scare the spiders but if I have to turn the light on to just see the dust I don't get the point of making the effort.  It may....or may not....happen.

Take care, All.

Love your attitude, Phyllis.... "may or may not happen"........  my opinion exactly! Today the mowers are going to be here at 8:00 am so must take care of cats & me early and get the gates unlocked. Have a Thuper Thursday!

Rain here, too...steady and heavy.  No wind to blow it around or make it colder but it sure feels cold and damp out there.

I'm ready for Cathy to pick me up.  I'm sure she's not looking forward to the drive in the rain.  But it's better than the last time we went.  It snowed that time!

Better see to last minute.  I hate to hold her up when she's doing me a favor!  Have a good rest of the day.  Dust or don't dust.  However you feel!

This A.M. I started a "big chore".  Removing, washing, drying and replacing the linens on my King Size bed.  If I had a Smart Watch, I'm sure it would register
10,000 steps, walking around and around that bed. Wrestling with the mattress cover is a job in itself.  The washing was for the flannel sheets, I think our Winter is over for now, it's about 80 degrees here now, and we expect 90's for this weekend, so I'm just putting the cotton sheets on.

Well, we didn't make it to the Chiropractor today!  It was still pouring when Cathy picked me up at 1 and all the way we travelled, there were ditches and fields lying full of water.  We crossed over one creek that was running fast and high.  We were about two thirds of the way there when we met up with two yellow trucks with their lights blinking behind a large sign that said "Road Closed Ahead".  They were directing traffic on to a a side road that we had no idea where it went. So we turned around to back track to find a road we knew and I called Debra's office to tell them what happened and that if we continued, we would be at least a half hour late.  We decided to reschedule.  Even if we had gone around by the other road, I know it crosses some creeks and runs close beside some others.  So it was probably a good decision.

I'm really tired and ready to sleep but I'm going to stay up at least another hour so I can sleep all night.  It's still raining but supposed to stop around midnight.

I hope you all had a good day!  I wish you a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Wow, Jane, those kind of roads spook me.... do not like any kind of flooding when can't tell how high it is on the road. We are so flat here, even in the city, streets flood everywhere. Hard to build storm drains big enough to drain off a downpour. Glad you got back safe but sorry you had to miss your appointment.

Tome, I have a king size bed in the RV & can barely walk around it when slide is out, really is a chore to change sheets, my arms are never long enough. I've learned in the 5 years I've had it that the bed doesn't need changing nearly as often as I once thought!!! I would have settled for a full size & more walking space, but that's how it came & my sons & I were heading to the mountains 2 days after picking it up from the dealer. My sons sleep in one son's camper but I was glad they were in the site next to me to show me how all the gadgets worked! Too bad the cats hate the ride, I'd go more often, although right now I guess all campgrounds are closed. Anyway, I can sympathize with having to change sheets on a king!

Lloyd, don't even think about buying any more cows. You don't need anything else to tie you down and everyone else is busy with their own lives. Taking care of yourselves is a big enough job! Stay safe & stay healthy!

Had calls from my kids & time I get to bed. Everyone is holding their breath about how soon they can get back to "normal". For tonight, I don't want to think about the virus anymore! Sweet dreams & God Bless..Shirley
