After crossing the river, we forget the bridge; and when you're healed, you forget about the doctor.

- The Last Song -

Everyone needs inspiration
Everyone needs a song
With a lovely melody
When the night is so long

'Cause there's no guarantee
that this life will be easy, yeah

When my world is falling apart
When there is no light to pierce the darkness
That's when I look at you
When the waves are flooding the shore
And I can not find my way home
C ' is that when i look at you

When I look at you
I see forgiveness
I see the truth
You love me for who I am
Like the stars hold the moon
In the very place where they belong
And I know I'm not alone, yeah

When my world collapses
When there is no light to break through the dark
It is at this moment that I look at you
When the waves flood the shore
And that I no longer find the way to the house
C'  is that when I look at you

You seem to me like a dream for me
Like the colors of a kaleidoscope
That cover me
Everything I need Every time I breathe
You don't know how beautiful you are

Yeah yeah

When the waves flood the shore
And I can't find my way home anymore
It's when I look at you
That you appear to me

You seem to me like a dream for me

There are two ways to forget the hassles of life: music and cats.

Good morning everyone, had more thunderstorms yesterday but not windy and no hail. More of the same in the forecast for today. and tomorrow. Gee this is now July 1 and guess we should expect more crazy weather. Tomorrw is my #1 son's 69th birthday, boy that really makes me feel old.'Had trouble getting in this morning, had a thing show up that I was locked out and could nor read or  post in here. finally clicking here and there I got here. Was scared for awhile that S&F was over. Wonder how many of us rely on this site for our social life with this virus.

JANE  looks like everyone is to tired or too busy to post latlely. I feel lucky that I can sit here at the computer as long as I can every morning. At times I wounder if a tablet/iPad would be easier to sit anyplace and type. Too hot and humid to go outside and walk and lately I have been walking the hallway back and forth. All those closed doors is not a pretty site.

BUBBLE  thanks for the new month's page. Love the graphics and The Last Song.

LLOYD  not all cqats get on the table. Then again not everyone leaves uncovered butter on the table.

Hello to everyone who come in later today.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Today is Canada and I did hear fireworks go off last night. Not many but it did disturb Babe. Most of the stores are closed today with a few open. Celebrations are kept to a minimum and no large firework displays are being held in town..

Need to work in a flower garden but we shall see how the day progresses.

Bubble thank you for the new page..

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for some time now.  We made a quick outie and then Mickie had her pill and we waited out the boinger.  I had my first cup of coffee and read the paper while we waited.

After the boinger went, we had breakfast and a walk and I put a load of laundry in the washer (it's in the dryer now).  And here I am for a visit with all of you....I hope "all of you"!

AMY, what a beautiful celebration you're having in your yard!  The petunias are a beautiful backdrop for the flags.

BUBBLE, what a lovely new page you've given us and I love the celebrations and the poetry.  Thank you!

It's supposed to get into the 90s today so there won't be any midday walk for us today.  I might be able to do it but Mickie just won't any more and I don't blame her.  And I'd really rather not!

We could use some of your rain around here, GLORIA.  It's so dry the grass is turning brown!  Out in the yard the only thing growing is the weeds!

I hope you all have a lovely day!
Make it your own in ever way!

And don't forget to share it with your nosy friends!

Happy July Oneth a/k/a "Hump Day" a/k/a Wednesday,

I'm now thoroughly spoiled to ordering groceries on-line and having them delivered.  "Sally" called yesterday while doing my shopping to tell me she couldn't find a couple of things and discuss substitutes.  I was also able to ask if she could get something I'd forgotten to put on the list - and she could .
Still wouldn't use the service (Shipt) for fresh produce or fresh meat (which I can get at Braum's market) but everything else has been "easy-peasy".

Ate breakfast watching a beautiful black dragonfly getting nectar from the Hosta blooms

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Callie:  Such a nice description of the dragonfly.  A soothing moment.  We all need more soothing peaceful moments. If I didn't know better, I would believe we are in Oklahoma - because the wind has not stopped in days.  You may have to change the name of your state and we will just use Oklahoma from now on.

We are about to pick up a last minute grocery order - glad it was still open today.  I have a procedure tomorrow and am drinking water only today.

Time to say good night..I did get somethings done but not others.
Jane, thank you. In the middle of the petunias is red swiss chard...so an edible arrangement :)

Have a good night everyone..

Well, I earned my keep today! Think I may have sweat off a few pounds. Took the weed whip & loppers to the river bank & "made hay".... wore out the 2nd battery on the berm. Those weeds sure don't mind the heat & lack of water. The humidity has been extreme as well as the heat, not sure how much over 100 it got, but felt like an oven. Still dragging stuff out of the RV, think I mentioned it was much too much overloaded!

Daughter ordered me a St.Anthony before she left home & was here today when the package arrived. She is convinced HE will find that bag of gift cards.  :smitten: You know how it is when you are looking for something, can't pass a bag or corner without one more look. I do take blame because I was being unusually careless with it, knew it didn't go into the bag it was supposed to be in & couldn't muster up the energy to do more. My daughter & husband had a cow when they heard my oxygen was in the low 70s... said, "your organs can start shutting down at that level". Guess I will be hearing the same lecture in a couple weeks when routine visit for echo. Cardiologist just shakes his head, but always seems pleased I'm doing so well in spite of myself.  ;)

It is starting to soak in that I can't daydream about going to the cool mountains anymore, was my last trip but kind of thought I'd give in & go again. Not after the reaction this last time. Elevation is about 8600 where we camp but even at the Salida elevation (think just over 7,000....) oxygen was only 72. Okay, Shirley, quit whining, been lots & lots of years & photos. Used to get out paints & sold a lot of mountain scenes when I was "hungry to go". If I ever get this house shaped up maybe I will be able to paint again. Pollyanna will have to think extra hard to pull out a happy note!

That's my world today, have a watermelon & cantaloupe to cut up so better find containers to hold the bite sizes. Not sure what plans are for the 4th but usually a family gathering & this year I will take fruit, I think. I don't stay for the fireworks, my little Encore turns into a pumpkin when it gets dark.

I'm hearing lots of fireworks tonight... at least the wind has died down some today. I can't see what they are shooting across the river with the trees growing so tall & thick. When we bought this house back in 1988 there was not a single tree along the river. We lost quite a chunk of bank before I convinced the Park Dept employees to leave the trees alone to hold the bank in. Now I have a dense woods, lots of willows but many other kinds as well (planted by the birds, I guess). I did start a sycamore in a pot, rolled it down the hill & planted with chicken wire around to keep the beaver from munching it off. It is at least twice as tall as a 2 story house, maybe 25 years? Has it's roots in the river!

Bed time, sweet dreams and God Bless. Thank you, Bubble, for the graphics & sayings, and new spot to hang out. Shirley

I'm on my way to hit the hay, too!  We've done all the "getting ready for bed" stuff and all we have to do is fold up the bedspread and crawl in!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one1

P.S.  I have 4 little tiny green tomatoes growing on my mater plants!

Good morning everyone...

Another hot one again today...even the wind is too lazy to blow.
I have come to realize that dancing with the garden tiller is harder on one than the snow blower. At least that is what my muscles are telling me this morning.

Meeting friends this morning to take items I picked up for her to exchange for items her daughter picked up for us. One is a 40 lb bag of flour, that will keep us for a while.!!

Shirley, Kyle will tell you to stop looking for your cards and when you are looking for something else they will turn up. He is usually right about that...but don't tell him I said that!

Better go, need to make some mustard for our friends for them to try.

Enjoy your day everyone ,stay safe.

Good morning everyone, No rain in forecast for today. After 5 days in a row with some rain and thunderstorms we only got about 2 inches of rain.

AMY  I knew Canada day was this month but couldn't remember when. I kept thinking the 14th. or is that Bastille day? Your husband did a beautiful job on the trug.  love the petunias in it and the flags.

BUBBLE  thanks for the link to photos. Amazing how your seeds took and made more peppers. Hope you enjoy them later and they aren't too hot.

JANE  my daughter's dog likes nothing better than going for a walk but on the days when it gets too hot they take him for a walk and he does what he has to and turns around to head home or else begs to be picked up and carried home. He is a small dog and not heavy. The rain we had was only about 2 inches and not much for us.

CALLIE  like you I kind of like getting groceries delivered. I did that for the almost 5 months Yve tte was out on sick leave with her back. Now that she is back she scolds me if I call an order in. She likes shopping and using coupons and getting bargains. She really has saved me money when she goes to the market for me.

SHIRLEY  you make me tired just reading all you do. Just making my bed every morning I end up sitting down and resting. When I think of what I used to do I feel useless.

JANE  yippee  lets hope you get more tomatoes and you can pick and enjoy them when they ripen. There is nothing tastier than picking a tomato and eating it right away except picking an apple from the tree and biting into it.

LLOYD  hope you slept as good as I did last night.

AMY  wonderful how you and your friends and neighbors get items for each other. Much bet ter than living in a city.

Have a good day and stay safe.

What can I say?  It is hot and humid with the chance of rain.  It is just like most of you and typical of our summer weather.

David will pick up our groceries at 11 this morning.  I am planning to make some home-style baked beans for the Fourth but may not feel like heating up the kitchen with the oven so I will decide on that later.  Other than that I won't be doing much.

Our neighbor asked if we minded if they had a few fireworks for the children in the cul-de-sac on the 4th.  We don't object as long as they keep them safe.  We thought it was nice that they asked.  Actually, I think we will enjoy watching them along with the children, too.

Take care, All.

I'm not going to be in here today.  I'm fighting off an attack of vertigo.  I have not had one this bad for at least 6 or 7 years.  I'm supposed to be able to relieve them by lying on the left side of my head but with my left arm being broken, I've been doing a lot of lying on my right side.  I'm hoping that's all it is.  Those little, bitty rocks in my ear canal have come out and are dancing around in my head.  Yep, that's right everyone!  I've got rocks in my head!  But the only difference between you and me is that mine are dancing!

I'm going back to the couch while I wait for the drug store to deliver my pills!  I'll be back when I can.  In the meantime, don't let your rocks dance!

Good morning, EVERYFRIEND 🦋

We are back home again after a WONDERFUL visit to Vail.  My heart is so full of the time we had.  The trees there look so healthy right now....I could not stop starring at them...just beautiful.  The flowers in Vail are always spectacular and I just love going into  Vail Village and riding my electric cart up and down every street and take them all in.  The Mountain sides were so green.....it is definitely Candy for the 👀, and YES, Gloria, I thought many times how much I wish you could see what I was seeing😘

We stayed in one son's condo on the third floor of the building.....oh my. The three flights of stairs nearly do me in, so I do not make that climb any more than I have to😩🤪. The air at 8500 feet+ is MIGHTY thin! We spent a lot of time at the Boston sons place and had dinner with them both nights we were there.  Our two grandsons have grown like weeds.  Even this we FaceTime with them all the time, we could not believe how big they are and how they have matured.  The oldest is a half a head taller than me and the other one nearly looks me in the eyes🤣🤣

Yesterday morning Jonah and his parents arrived and we got to see all three grands together for the first time.  What a delight.....It was short and sweet as we left for home very shortly after.  The drive both ways were very nice except for a dumb move on my part on the way up DEFINITELY had my guardian angel looking out for me.  Thank GOD we did not have a accident, but it was a very close call.  I have always prided my driving abilities but the decision I made in this case does make me wonder if I am really that safe anymore😩😩

SHIRLEY, my heart is aching for you if you are not ever able to return to Colorado for the camping trips that you love so much😩😢 ALSO, feeling sad that you may have lost forever your bag of gift cards.  I hope they miraculously appear🙏🙏🙏. I enjoyed seeing the picture of your swimming pool and I wanted to jump right in.  I miss my swimming so much....it is my best form of exercise and our pool is not open here in our community yet🤪

CALLIE, you can appreciate the beauty of high altitude flowers as Leadville has the same also.

AMY, the trug celebrating Canada Day is so nice.  Very pretty❣️

CAROL, I Hope your procedure goes well🙏

I am sorry to be so long winded......have a great rest of your day.

Jenny

Good Afternoon,

Jenny, Leadville didn't decorate with flowers quite like Vail does but I remember how beautiful the pass between Leadville and Fairplay was with all the wild flowers in bloom and the "Snow Dove" formation on the mountain side.

Janie, I am sympathizing with your vertigo.  I, too, have rocks in my head - and on my left side.  Fortunately, they haven't danced in quite a while and I'm turning my right ear toward the computer so they won't see our posts and get any ideas!  ;)

I woke up in a "Get 'Er Done" mood (much better than the "I Don' Wannas" I'm usually in on such a  :hot:  day).  After I read the paper, had breakfast, did the 4 Daily Challenges and met the 3 Daily Goals on the 4 Solitaire games, I Got Busy.

Put in a load of laundry.

I wanted to make Sliders and had put those ingredients on the grocery list. But I forgot frozen biscuits - then remembered I had a box of biscuit mix in the pantry.

So - following the southern habit of only heating up the kitchen in the morning, I made the sliders - then let them set while I turned on the oven and made the biscuits. When they were done, I turned off the oven and put the sliders in for a few minutes to let the topping soak in.
Biscuits certainly don't look like the frozen Grandes but I think they'll do. Had made up some Country Gravy mix the other day so planning on left-over chicken/biscuits and gravy for dinner.

Laundry was done by then so I took it out - and did a bit of ironing.

By that time, my tummy said it was time for lunch so I had a slider and came to the computer.

Have checked Facebook, the ship channels and now reported in here. I'm ready to head for the recliner and read the rest of the afternoon.

That's it from this corner.  :hugs:

Jane, so sorry the rocks are dancing & sort of scrambled today. Enough is enough with these getting old problems!  I need to get some cooler clothes on but didn't get all my errands run so may go out again in this heat. It is awful!  :P  I am so jealous that you have little green tomatoes already! Betcha next summer I find a way to grow some!

Gloria, keep meaning to ask if Regina has had a chance to paint any more. For sure they keep busy, but hope she finds time to keep doing it because the longer you don't, harder it is to get back in gear. I'm guessing she will have lots of special views to paint, maybe not what she wants to do but bet you would appreciate a new picture on your wall.

Amy, just showed my daughter your latest trug, she said one of her neighbors has some about like that & have a feeling she will be planting by next spring! I'm going to hint for my son to build me one for Christmas.... He buys me all those battery operated tools he thinks I need & I'm pretty sure I have enough now! By the way, tell Kyle I do agree with him that "when I quit looking...." but how do you NOT look again & again?

Phyllis, I love baked beans but have "faked it" for years with buying 2 or 3 different types of the Grillin' Beans or just Campbell's baked beans, mix the flavors & everyone is sure they were made from scratch. Heat & eat... yum.

I love potato salad but have never been happy with what I make so go to Walmart & buy theirs. I like it better than the kind my Kroger/Dillon stores sell. Prefer the mustard/egg kind. We do have a spell of calm & quiet until fall, I will welcome this! Love my family but it has expanded, multiplied more than I expected, & the gatherings are bigger.

Okay, got a load in the dryer that needs attention & more to wash. Will check in tonight, hope everyone has a "thupper Thursday".... (thanks, Callie).

Woops, Jenny, you popped in. I do agree that Vail Village is the most gorgeous spot EVER during the summer, with hanging baskets & enormous planters full of every type flower in the world. I envy you those visits, have lots of memories & photos but not the same. Last time I visited I was alone, rode the trolly/bus from the parking lot, around & got off downtown to walk. I never minded being alone but know it was better when shared, to be able to keep ohhing & ahhing out loud.

It was 7 years ago today that I found Cas dead in the bed. Poor LaurenKat had gone in first & came racing out of the room so I knew, just knew. She never went into that room again, as long as she lived. Even that morning I didn't cry because he had been in such agony and mental pain as he struggled to breathe. His face looked peaceful and that was what mattered.  Life changed for me, but he met his goals and I think was satisfied. Strange way of looking at life, but that is what it is all about, isn't it? Those of us left behind must make the best of every day we have, not mourn over what we don't have.

Good afternoon, Callie. I bought slider buns this week for the "manwich" left over when #2 son didn't get by. Thought they were really good & thought of you as I ate them.   I just got back from Sam's with a humongous pot for a plant in my living room. It has grown so big & looks so silly in that tiny pot, almost a shame to switch  ;D , better take a photo of before for giggles. Going to take a couple strong kids to get the pot out of the car trunk & into the living room. Have a shower curtain to keep dirt off the white carpet, just hope it doesn't make too much mess. Has to be done.

Good morning everyone...

Cloudy sky with a temp of 66  going to oh my gosh later in the day. Weather guessers are saying rain for the next 4 days..we shall see.

Taking some garbage away this morning, coming home to do some sewing then take the van in for an oil change this afternoon.
May get back into the garden after that, again we shall see . :)

Shirley, my  last outing with the tiller told me not to have too many more of them. The trugs make life much easier to work and at my height. My son makes a mean potato salad ,told him forget all the other goodies just pass the potato salad!

Jane, hope you are feeling better this morning. Take it easy and rest. Have flowers on our tomato plants but no tomatoes. Peas are flowering and the beans soon will be.

Gloria, our lawns are crispy in places......we need rain I would imagine we will have a fire ban on soon.

Lloyd, hope you can catch up on your sleep.

Phyllis will you see the fireworks tonight or tomorrow?

Joy, hope all is well with you.

Callie, your sliders have saved the day here when I am too tuckered to make a meal. A slider and salad do the trick.

Better go get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe!

Good morning everyone, loo like it will be into the mid 70's for a high today. I sure will like that. We had rain again last night and have it in the forecast for late day today. Every day since last Sunday we have had rain but yesterday and today no thunderstorms in the forecast.

PHYLLIS  cannot remember a streak of rainy days like this before. Of course getting old I might have forgotten about times like this. As my daughter  tells me I have so much stored in my brain I cannot recall some things stored away. In summer I used to make baked beans in a crockpot on low. Almost as good as being in the oven but takes all day.

LLOYD  don't think I could ever sleep with someone else anymore. I take up the whole bed now.

JANE  time to teach those rocks to stop dancing. Hope by tomorrow you are back to feeling better.

JENNY  you are right, I love looking at scenery and enjoyed what I saw when I went to Arizona. I told my daughter I needed eyes on both sides of my head as I didn't want to miss what was in back of me when looking in front of me. I have not seen my little grea t grandson since Christmas. He will be 5 in 2 weeks and they change so fast. My grandson will get on Skype at times and I get to see my little one but not the same as in person.

CALLIE  you were busy yesterday. You still iron? Remember what Joan used to say? that calls for demerits, you are retired now and no more work allowed.

SHIRLEY  she tried water paints but that is not her thing and now she is trying some other paints, not oils. She has done 2 so far and it is all what she sees in her mind, no photo in front of her.

LLOYD  I gave up watchig the news. So tired of hearing the same thing about the virus and politics.

AMY  I had been waiting to hear about brush fires here but with more rain due today I think that will not happen.

JANE  hope you feel better today.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Amy, I'm not sure when the fireworks will be but I imagine they will be tomorrow night since that is the traditional thing to fire them on the 4th.  Actually, fireworks in neighborhoods are illegal here but I think the authorities are looking the other way considering the circumstances this year.  All of the big shows are canceled to keep crowds from gathering.  I don't expect anything too big or spectacular since it is in the neighborhood but it will be a nice little show for the children....and the grown up kids, too.

I put the baked beans together yesterday and as Callie said, we try not to turn on the oven during the heat of the day here in the South, I will bake them either late this evening or early in the morning.  I have some fresh corn on the cob, too, and will fix that in the Instapot so I won't be putting any more humidity into the kitchen than is already there and that is plenty.  I thought about potato salad but I'm not sure we really need that much food.  Well, maybe just a small one....a one potato, one hard-boiled egg, salad.  I am planning a Blackberry Cobbler....we'll see if that happens.

Jane, I really feel sorry for you and the "rocks".  I am hoping hard that they will settle back in place very soon.  Nothing worse than that feeling.

Good Afternoon,

Oh, Gloria, what I do could in no way be considered "Doing The Ironing".  ;D  I have some summer tops that look better if the neckline is ironed and others that are crinkle cotton but need the cuffs and button plackets pressed into place.
Takes about a minute to do each one.

Phyllis,  may I join you for 4th of July meal? Your menu sounds delicious.
Lots of blackberry bushes on the acreage where I grew up....and lots of chiggers while picking them.  My mother didn't make pies because she said she could never get the crust to look nice but she made delicious cobblers, particularly with the blackberries.

Shirley,  I sometimes make a pound of hamburger into plain meat balls and bake them for the minimum time. Then freeze them (separated) and pull out 2 or maybe 3 to reheat in toaster oven with BB sauce, Spaghetti sauce, brown gravy, etc. - or -crumble them and make "Untidy Josephs" (a/k/a Sloppy Joes).

BTW, if using Hawaiian buns for the sliders, I suggest leaving the sugar out of the topping and adding a dash more Worchestershire and Honey Mustard Spread.  Those buns are really sweet!!!

Still having issues with Sneaky Squirrel getting onto the feeder.  Finally set the hose to Jet Spray and positioned it toward the feeder. I've managed to slip out 3 times and turn the water on full force so it hits SS as he/she leaps off and scurries away.  Last time I saw one on the ground under the feeder, I think it saw the hose/sprayer at the edge of the patio and thought twice about going up. <evil chuckle >.

No plans for the weekend.  Family is going fishing and I "politely declined".  ;)

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Fourth Of July.

Just a quick stop to let you all know I'm still here.  I feel somewhat better today than I did yesterday and I'm hoping for even better tomorrow.  I still have to catch myself now and then but I did manage a walk to the mail box at the corner with Mickie along on the leash.  I only had to quick-step twice and there was nothing to hold onto all the way.  So I know it's better.  But I guess the rocks are not all back in their cave just yet.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us every one!

Another later night post....these days just get away from me and I have been on many telephone calls and even some FaceTime calls with my grands this evening.

We have watched a couple of 4th of July things on the TV tonight, but none too exciting.

I had quite a bit of laundry to get done and it took me awhile.  Bob took our car to the car wash and vacuumed it out good....it has been awhile and it was very necessary. We had tacos for dinner and that was our day.

JANE, I do hope your vertigo is much better again tomorrow....sure do not like to think about you being out walking when you are having a chance of being dizzy...sure would hate to have you fall.

PHYLLIS, your 4th of a July meal sounds just perfect.  This time of the year we do have to try not to add heat or humidity to our kitchens.

I found out today that my Dad's friend Diane sent a very generic bday card to our son....she wrote a couple of words to Brian....then had my dad sign it.  My dad has been Pepa to our family for many, many years.....clearly he did not know whom he was wishing a happy birthday as it said, "have a good one, Bob".  This was a bit upsetting to Brian as well as to to Bob and me😢😢 My dad is getting very forgetful but I feel if Diane had made it clear what the card was he would have signed appropriately.

Oh my, I am sorry...things seem to be much bigger and more upsetting that ever now during these Covid times.

Must get to bed and give you all a rest.

Jenny

Good morning everyone and Happy Fourth of July. I wll be going to my grandsons today. A small family gathering and I get to see my little greatgrand.

PHYLLIS  like you we don't  use the oven during the day unless we have good ar conditioning. Too much humidity in summer and do not need to add to it.

CALLIE  there is always something that needs a touch up with the iron. My CNA does mine now, sure cannot complain about that can I?

JANE  glad the stones are slowing dowh their dancing around. Hope today is back with them in their cave.

JENNY  there has only been a few cases of the virus in this town and our governor insists on distance and masks.

Time for breakfast and shower. Have a greatday an stay safe.

Good morning everyone...

Happy 4th of July!

We have hazardous waste drop off today and will be contributing to that with paint cans and propane cylinders. Then it is back to the garden to wreck havoc on the weeds and grasses.

Canning sealers were on sale so off to town we went to pick up 6 cases........3 for us and 3 for my friend. We both want ot try a new to us recipe for dill pickles. I don't mind making them but will leave the eating up to Kyle. :)

Janie , good to see you!! Hope the rock soon disappear. Would it be wise to get a rollator for times like this? The pumpkins are growing by leaps and bounds so I have a good feeling this will be a year of having a bountiful harvest from them.

Phyllis, I now do my baked beans in the IP....so muc quicker and you don't even need to soak the beans. I cook mine for 90 mins...

Gloria, have fun with your family!!

Better git......enjoy your day everyone...stay safe./color]

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I feel lots better today but I wouldn't want to try to drive anywhere today.  When I get a bit dizzy, there's no warning and that' bad in a car.

Walking is better today than yesterday but not up to par.  At least I don't need to spend the day on the sofa.  I don't know if it's the exercises, the meds or just time passing that's helping but I'm sure happy for the better feeling.  I still don't think I'm going to attempt a trip to the berr patch tomorrow or even Monday but maybe one day next week.  My friend will be doing the driving so that's a plus!

I've read all the posts and I wish you all well and happy!  Stay in out of the scorching weather.  Mickie has decided that the yard is better than the road in the sun!

Cathy had her gathering with friends last evening so today she's doing the shopping as usual and when she gets back with my stuff I'm going to try a recipe from 1919 for "Liberty Bread".  It was developed to save flour in particular for the service men.  I'll let you know how it turns out.  It looks pretty good.

Quiet day around here....gee, I sure miss the old days when we always had family to get together with.  The anticipation of seeing the fireworks too😩

Thank you, GLORIA, for the nice JacquieLawson Card.  Cute as always.  So happy you will be with your family today and getting to see your great grandson.  Happy, happy❣️

AMY, sounds like your day would be a busy one.

JANE, another day of you dealing with those rocks in your head😩 Hope your Liberty Bread turns out well.

LLOYD, I am sorry you did not feel you could walk well enough to go with the family to the lake.
We had a LOT of loud booms last night and expect there to be more tonight. It is so dry out and I sure worry about someone starting fires.  All of the commercial fireworks displays have been cancelled.

Happy 4th of July to AL.

One more good night to all.......fireworks going on all around my house. Our gathering was at oldedst gr-son's house, only a few missing (out of towners). Tiger cat has been missing most of the day, think she found a hidey hole & staying put until fireworks over. Better go take my flag down, nearly dark, no cloud cover here & supposed to be a full moon.

Thanks for the card, Gloria, only patriotic anything this year. All years I look for something special to send the link to my brother, the one that died a couple months ago. He was in the Navy at the end of WWII and went into the regular Army (OCS) after college & after retiring from active duty, spent many more years in the reserves. Guess I have always been a flag waver, get tears when watching a parade & military bands.

Sweet dreams and God Bless.... Love ya all........Shirley :hot:  :hello:

Good morning everyone, had a wonderful day yesterday and was tired when I got home. Did not take me long to get to bed and to sleep. I have to say my grandson is a perfect host.My son is good but grandson is more like his Mom is the department. He makes sure everyone is seated before he thinks of sitting at the table. Started with tenderloin steak on the grill with all the trimmings and then with a lobster for everyone. He sat next to me and before he started his lobster he got mine ready to eat breaking it apart and cracking the claws. He knows I cannot do a lot of things anymore and he is so thoughtful.  We ate outside on his big deck ahd he shaded the tables with big umbrellas so no one sat in the sun. Weather was perfect with a light breeze at times. I was surprised how much I ate but took home most of the lobster meat and will have that later today. Of course I enjoyed hugs for my little one. He sure has a lot of energy and I wish I had just a fraction of it.He never stops. By the end of the day he started getting cranky because he was so tired. I was glad when my son thought it was time to leave I was worn out, too. All in all it was the best 4th I have had in a lot of years. About 9 last night I could hear fireworks, professional ones from the timing and sounds. Lasted half an hour and then it was quiet, of course once I fall asleep I think the roof could fall on me and I would not wake up.

One thing I was disappointed in was on the ride to my gradson's home I only saw 4 flags out. Where did the patriotic feelings go with folks these days? My grandson had his flag on the fron of his house and my son had his out, too. Sad  though on our Independance day so few had their  flags flying.

Think I will go lay on the couch and watch TV if I can find somthing to watch. Still tired from yesterday.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good morning everyone...

Another hot one again today. A day of rest here. Managed to get a lot done yesterday , only have  two items to iron and that is it for laundry.
Phyliss, you put the thought in my head about baked beans and made those in the IP,,,,we had those along with hotdogs from Costco all beef one for supper last night. Easy meal :)

Roley, great to see you!! Hope all is well with you and the Mrs.

Gloria, sounds like the perfect day you had. Along with the delicious meal too! Your grandson is a thoughtful young man.

Jane, hope you are feeling better today.

Jenny, lets hope that this will be over soon. I wish folks would pay attention and take the precautions but not many listen.

Shirley, hope Tiger cat comes home today. Babe does not like the fireworks and thankfully there wasn't many to be heard around here.

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm feeling a little better every day but it's not fast enough to suit me.  I'm still a bit rocky on my pins and if I turn my head too fast I get a feeling of dizziness.  It's better than it was but still not good.

GLORIA, I too, enjoyed the 4th of July card.  Thank you for thinking of us.  It sounds like you had a lovely holiday with your family!

To Everyone, I read and enjoy your activities almost as much as you do!

Cathy had a very small dinner....just her and her husband Craig and me.  Frankie joined us a bit later and had a warmed up dinner and we had a nice long chat with a musical background while we sat out on their patio,  I was tired when I got home.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it with all of us  We're interested!!!

All's well in Kansas, too. Busy 4th with lots of fireworks everywhere, no damage as far as I've heard. 3 cats laying around the pool, had their breakfast and zonked out for the day. A cardinal is singing so not even concerned "the cats are loose". Sun is up, wind not too bad & I have a pool to vac and add some water, it evaporates so normal. I would rather go back to bed but..........

Gloria, glad you had such a great day, for sure a super meal & good care. Jane, hope the dizzies go away soon. I've had spells all my life like that but in my case, it's a tad of anemia. Soon as I take a few iron pills or eat enough red meat, I get back to normal. Don't even have to register anemia, but on the low side & I am toddling. Amy, taking stuff to the dump or recycle places here costs a bunch unless it's the once a year thing. You seem to have good services in your neck of the woods. Lloyd, glad Nancy is home. I know it is rough when legs & breathing keeps us from hanging out with the family but at least we are still breathing! Peter, happy to see you again, I always enjoy the walks with you, maybe someone was posting at the same time why yours got kicked out? Jenny, at this stage we all need to just smile when "things go wrong" and believe that everyone intended the best. Makes it easier on those of us that worry, right? And now I need to get dressed & go vac the pool, before it gets any hotter.

Good morning.  A pretty sunny morning.

Gloria, I just had to stop here for a couple minutes to tell you that it really made me feel so happy when I read your message this morning.  It sounds like your grandson is so special.  Just brought a smile to my face to hear how he took such good care of you at dinner.  I know it made you feel good, also.  So nice when the younger ones do things like that.  Your dinner sounds so good, and I am glad you got to bring some left overs home.  And, I know you were so happy to be able to spend some time with your little great-grandson.  Been a while since you have seen him.  Now, rest up today and relive your happy day from yesterday.

Have a safe day.

I'm off to Dreamland my friends!  I hope your day was pleasant and uneventful and I hope you found a place to stay cool.  It was in the low 90s here again and I'm very glad I didn't have to go anywhere.  Standing out on the porch and waving to my neighbor was enough to do me in.  I'm sure glad I didn't have to clean a pool!

I feel somewhat better but I'm till walking carefully and turning my head slowly and shifting my eyes only when necessary.  And I'm not walking where there's no support.

I'm off to bed now and hoping tomorrow will be better.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Forgot to say, The Liberty Bread turned out good!  I'll be making that one again!

Good morning everyone, yes terday was a lazy day for me. I did not do much on the 4th but enjoy the food and the company but was tired. Maybe seeing an almost 5  year old running around all day? or maybe sitting outside all afternoon? Anyway I napped on and off most of the day and slept good last night.

AMY  this grandson has always been  thoughtful and never gave his parents any trouble. He was raised right. I know my DIL was raised in a good sized family with one brother and several sisters. Her parents were great, too. She was the only one my son ever dated and that was in his last year of high school, she was a year behind him. She graduated from 4  years of college and then they got engaged. Her and my daughter hit it off from the time they met, more like close sisters. I have told her she is the second daughter I wanted.

JANE  I did enjoy the Fourth. My DIL's family has a cabin on a lake here and every year of the fourth they had a clambake there with the whole family. This was the first year they didn't have their gathering. I am glad because I enjoyed  this fourth. Hope your vertigo is just about gone now.

SHIRLEY  MY SON KEEPS BUSY WITH THEIR POOL BUT AT LEAST IT GETS USE. OOPS I look at the keyboard to type so didn't see the caps. Right now I am trying to find a place to get rid of the portable AC. Cannot wait to get rid of that thing.

JOY  the fourth was the first time I was away from here since Christmas and that was the last time I saw my little one. He is full of questions and wants to know the why of every thing. He has a tablet with his own games on it and knows them all. Wonder how he will be able to sit in school this fall. He is so full of energy.

LLOYD  my traveling days are over and I am content to stay home.

JANE  today Yvette will be here. We will catch up on the week end and I will get a good back massage. What is so different about the Liberty bread?

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning everyone.  Gloria sorry it is that way for you, probably should be for us as well, but we are both hard headed. as soon as we get our R V repaired and the government get's nose out of our lives and lets us live like humans again we are going to get in it and re see some of the beautiful country god Made for us we are going to go see it, some for the second  or third time. as a truck driver I traveled in and picked up or delivered in 46 of our 50 states and part of Canada. but it is not good as a truck driver having to hurry up and get up and go. cant take time to smell the flowers.we will most likely even stop by as see  Gloria and either take her to dinner or get a lobster and help her eat a couple of them. also may get close enough to Amy to rattle her door. I can still drive reasonable well. I just stay right and let those in a huriey go on by. Is already 71 and clear going to high eighty's or low to mid nightie's.Have a great day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Right now it's 66º but it's heading for a high of 91.  Another day to stay inside!

I'm still feeling only "middlin'" and hoping for "better" to show up.  I feel unsteady walking without something to hold onto and if I turn too quickly, I wobble.  I really don't like this feeling!  And I wish it would just go away!

I gave up on the berry picking but my friend is going to try to find the place with her husband this morning.  She said she'd go back later with me when I feel better.

GLORIA, Liberty Bread was developed around 1919 to save flour so it could be sent to the troops in Europe.  It uses other things in place of some of the flour and it doesn't call for kneading.  You just put all the dry ingredients in a bowl, then mix the wet ones together and add them, mix with beaters and put in loaf pan and bake.  It's very good and super EASY!

It's almost time for the boinger so I'll wish you all a pleasant day.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with all of us!

Good morning everyone...

Rain went all around us , now they are calling for rain and t storms today and Tue then rain all this week. Do you think they can be right on one day??

Need to go into town to pick up a few things then home to give the weeds a new home....garbage.

Gloria, like you , our travelling days are also over. We have travelled across Canada and into 15 States in the past . Now we travel from Dr to Dr. :)

Jane good to see you are improving. Take it easy and go slow! I think I can see the pumpkins knotting up up flower buds.

Lloyd, going to be another hot one here also. Work will get done until melting time then inside to cool off.

Shirley, these dogs are getting fussy on eating. I don't know if it is the heat or they just don't like the food. Will bring home somethin g different for them to try. I have to entice them to eat ,scrambled eggs, peameal bacon and pieces of chicken have worked  .

Better get this message posted before I lose it again...

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.

It was a good dinner on the 4th.  For a change, everything came together just fine.  Amy, I tried the Home Style Baked Beans in the IP but they just weren't the same.  This is a recipe that my mother used to make and it seems to need that long slow cooking in the oven to thicken the spicy and sweet sauce.  It was so good.  And, the blackberry cobbler was extra good.  I was so tired afterward, but pleased.  We had leftovers of everything on Sunday so I didn't have to cook anything....just reheat.  That was fine with me!

Jane, have you thought about a cane for the times when the rocks are bothering you?  They aren't very expensive, can be bought at any drug store and can help a lot for just that little bit of stable support.  I have used one for a long time when I don't think the Rollator is needed.

I missed the neighbor's fireworks in the circle.  I went to bed and they didn't happen until after 10:30.  I didn't even hear them.  David said they didn't last too long.  I heard other fireworks in the neighborhood but not a lot was going on.   I think most of the people on our street had left town.

Back to business as usual today...laundry.  And it is hot and humid again with rain showers this afternoon.

Take care, All.

PHYLLIS, thanks for the suggestion of a cane and thanks to the person, AMY I think, who suggested a rollator a while back.  I actually have a rollator that Cathy thought I needed back when I had the surgery on my knee and I've thought of using it from time to time.  I've also thought of a cane at times.  However, I told two of my kids recently that's one of the good things about living in a small house.  There's always a wall or a piece of furniture to hold on to.  As for using them outside, the only thing I've given up is walks with Mickie and I'm not sure I could manage either of them and a dog too.  When I go outside, I follow the fence and I can go all the way around he yard and I have 3 step and a solid railing in the front and 2 steps and a solid railing in the back.  If I go anywhere, it's always with either my daughter or my granddaughter and they stick pretty close to me.  They did even before this dizziness.

Lunch is calling!  Gotta go answer the call!

A good Monday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

I started this post around noon time and a just getting it posted at nearly 7 PM.

We recently purchased a new set of sheets for our bed, so today we opened them up to wash them, then we washed the comforter and now we are washing the old sheets.  Phew! That is a lot of sheets to deal with since it is a king size bed!  We are both worn out!

We had a delivery of beautiful flowers a bit ago.  They are from our youngest sons, wife's parents.  How sweet of them to think of me with the funeral of my SIL this week.  It actually brought me to tears.  The fragrance is delightful and I am so appreciative🥰

Last night we watched the first half of HAMILTON. We got started a bit too late to watch the entire play. We also had the volume on super loud so we could hear the words they were saying, and with the doors open we did not want to take chance on bothering any of the neighbors.  I am anxious to start the second half tonight.
Many interruptions so I best post this now.

JANE, sorry you are still having issues with the vertigo. Your Liberty Bread sounds interesting.

Yippe, AMY.  Happy the pumpkins are growing well.  I think the heat does make our pets not want to eat just as many of us don't.  I hope the new food you purchased appealed to your doggies.

GLORIA, of course you had to rest up after your delightful day with your family in the 4th.  The little ones have so much energy....IF ONLY we could borrow just a little it would sure give us a boost!  I know you enjoyed your Yvette back rub😘

PHYLLIS, sorry you missed the cul de sac fireworks 💥  Good news is, it did not wake you up.  The boomers around here were very bad this year and lasted until nearly midnight🤪

Have a good evening,

Jenny

I'm off to bed, to, in a few minutes.  It was in the mid 90s here today too but it's raining right now so that might cool things off a bit.

Today was a good day!  I think the pills finally took effect and my body is responding.  I actually felt pretty good most of the day.  Maybe tomorrow will be even better?

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

Still no rain. ,maybe later or tomorrow...

Today I am off to get my hair cut! Last cut was in Nov so it is so needed.

After that will work in the garden, I am getting there slowly and I know it will be worth it when all the work is done.

Jenny, that was so thoughtful of them to send you flowers. Folding sheets, especially the fitted one cans be frustrating .Helps when one does have help.

Jane, that is good news!! Now don't try to go 100 miles an hour just settle for 80 for the time being.

Phyllis ,blackberry cobbler sounds yummy. Some things do need the long slow cooking in the oven. I know when first trying the beans there was too much liquid so cut back on that.

Better get a move on need to water the plants before I head to town

Enjoy your day everyone ,stay safe.

Good morning everyone, I came here, I read all the posts but am still sleepy ad can think of nothing to say.  Not going to be too hot here today, mid 70's, like the Fourth was. Rain tomorrow if we can believe the weather guessers. Even drank only half my coffee and I think I will go lay on the couch and have an early nap. Oh yes, it was great having my  back massage  yesterday and gre at to have Yvonne back after 3 days.

Have a good day and stay safe.

I'm here, too, but I think I'll go back to bed after I eat a bit of breakfast.  Even coffee didn't wake me up today.

A little cooler but with more rain.  It is what it is.

Take care.

hahahaha.... glad you said that, Bubble, was thinking the same.  :2funny:

Good morning, world! Here is another that is thinking a nap sounds good so soon after breakfast. My doctor says it is normal to be sleepy after we eat, "takes a lot of energy to digest food". So, we aren't being lazy, just giving our bodies time to do their job. Sounds reasonable to me.....

Hello All.Sorry i'm a little late in replying but i have been waiting for another interesting Armchair Walk to send on to you, this one is around the area where i live on the South Coast of Sussex, England, Southwick is where i was born and the Church 'St Julian' (C,1050) was where i married my wife Jean in 1956,the nearby Church mentioned along with the story of the unexploded Bomb during WW2 is interesting one to me because it is almost at the bottom of my cousin's 'then'garden and we still talk of it and the night of the raid, it is only a short walk this time but i hope you find it interesting, i will try and find some longer walks next time for you to enjoy !.

GOOD MORNNG 💐 EVERYFRIEND 💐

It is going to be another HOT one here in the Mile High City today.  By Friday they are saying we could have triple digits😩

We did not sleep that well last night.....it was warm and we should have left the AC on for the night.  I just love the fresh air, but sometimes we just have to have the air on.  The new sheets felt a bit different, so that added to my non sleep.  Feels like we need to rewash them again🤪. AMY, you are right, those fitted sheets with the elastic all the way around are a real pain for even two of us to fold!
I have been enjoying the beautiful flowers and the wonderful fragrance SO MUCH.... yes, very sweet of them to think of us😘

Seems most of you are thinking you need more sleep today!

I have a few last minute preparations to be ready for my SIL'S funeral tomorrow.  I do not like the fact it has been 18 days between her death and burial day.....it just drags out the grief of it all.  Dave is not going to be able to join the family at the service as they have pushed Michele's Chemo time later due to the 4th of July Holiday.  Since it was on a Saturday, I did not expect it to change the schedule, but it did. 😩

SHIRLEY and BUBBLE, it appears I was too late to see the post before Amy changed it, so I missed the chuckle!

I wish you all a wonderful day.

Jenny

Jenny ,I have now corrected my spelling from pants to plants! :)

It was a bright spot in the day, Amy!

Peter, loved the walk. I was trying to remember if you had ever posted anything about Marlow, Buckinghamshire or of High Wycombe. I've resigned myself to the realization that I won't get back for a visit, but have my memories. My daughter was born on the base at South Ruislip but my husband was stationed at the base that joined Wycombe Abbey. That was from 1954-'57. I was a bride at 19 and my baby was born shortly after my 21st birthday. Did a lot of growing up those years in England. Thanks for showing me the countryside I missed seeing.

Jenny, hugs for the sad day tomorrow. My brother's funeral was at the start of the virus scare so we were able to gather at one of his son's house to visit. It was comforting that his nieces & nephews from all over the US came to mourn with their cousins. Sorry Dave can't make it, sad as it is, I think it is healing to have family together.

HOT here in Kansas, and this is really only the start of summer. No end in sight for relief from the heat or virus restrictions.

AMY, happy for you as I know how good it must feel to have that extra hair gone!  You almost feel like a whole new person😘

SHIRLEY, thank you for the hugs, they do help as this is a very sad time of course.  My dad is very upset that he can not be here for the service, but he knows well that he just is not capable of traveling anymore.  Bless his heart.  Please do not feel too bad that you have not been able to return to the location in England where you "grew up" and had your daughter.  It might be what we found when we returned to Newbury/Greenham Common,, East of London and Reading.....NOTHING was the same.  We could not find one thing that looked the same.  The guest house we lived in for the first couple of weeks while looking for a place to live no longer exists.....it was, the best we could figure out right in the middle of a big shopping mall.  The tobacco plantation was all housing and the base had become a wild life preserve!  It was rather disappointing to say the least😩😢. Same thing happened when we returned to Bitburg Air Base in Germany where we spent 3 years....the darling little town of Bitburg was a nice little cobblestone street that climbed up to the top of a hill....it was all turned into a walking mall....the little Bitburg Pils Brewery that use to be downtown with a big copper barrel in the window had moved to the back side of the now close base and was a huge place that was as big as Coors Brewery here in Colorado!  AND there was a McDonalds at the end of our street and no brat wurst stands in sight😩 Even the street in the town just south of us, Trier had turned the Main Street into a big wide walking mall.  They call all of these changes progress, but I just called it very sad😢😢   Our favorite place to eat a delicious schnitzel in Trier was still there but the meal was nothing like what we had....they said that the cooks are all from Asia now and nothing is the same.   Oh and BTW, this was in the late 60's when we were there, so 10plus years more from the time you were there.  We did drive into your area and looked around when we were headed back to London fro Newbury, but of course we never saw it, to my knowledge when we lived over there.  I just wanted to say that I visited the area where you lived😘

I have spent the last four hours making me a black mask from the bottoms of a pair of my pajamas.  Tried all over town to get a "gator" type mask in black and could not find one anywhere!  I cut the two pant legs off then hand sewed them together for a double layer and to be reversible.  I put elastic all around the top and a piece of a twist tie in to form the bridge of my nose!  I am pretty proud of myself😘😘

Have a good evening,

Jenny

Good evening everyone from
the cooler than usual
rocky coast of Maine.

It feels good to have the
cooler weather.

I went out this morning
and walked down to CVS
to pick up some meds.

It was a good walk.
I always use my rollator..
I depend on mine,  not so much
for walking,  because I
do not have a problem walking.

But instead for keeping me
from stepping into something
and falling down.  (Because of
my limited vision).

It is my security blanket and
I do not like going out
side with out it.

Falling down again is my
biggest fear...  I fear
losing my independence
should I break a leg or a
hip ...  in this day of Covid
isolation ... I need to be
able to move and take
care of myself.

I think that we all
probably feel that way..
being a burden isn't in
our make up!!

Have a good covid free week
EVERYONE!

You are very wise, Sandy. This is not the world we grew up in, partly our age but also a virus that has caused world wide fear. I don't recall even the polio scare being as world wide as this.

Those of us that remember WWII may be able to remember food shortages, shoe leather, so many daily consumer goods that we did without. Because my brothers were fighting the war for us, the war was a constant part of our lives. But I don't think we were as afraid and I know for a fact that everyone I knew was kinder, was more concerned about each other and even more thoughtful of how people were doing in foreign countries.

We pulled together, we stood together, nobody was greedy or they were shunned. And in this crisis we have politicians still fighting, back stabbing, selling us short to fill their own pockets. what monsters we have created this last 75 years. Trust me, this is NOT political, I blame all politicians equally, most of all I blame myself for not wanting any part of the political circus, not even to voice my opinions anywhere but here. (I think we all or most are shocked at the world today.)

I'm pretty sure it isn't wise for me to come here late when I'm thinking about "today". I just discovered tonight that the MO State parks & Corp of Engineer campgrounds are "reserved sites" only, so they can eliminate contact for the hosts & space campers, I guess. That makes a difference to me because I only want to go when weather is nice and can't reserve with those conditions! May as well sell the RV. That thought will probably keep me awake tonight.  :-\

Thanks for your message Lloyd, sorry you still have trouble with your PC, I used to enjoy our little chats, so good luck when you try and sort out the problem.

Good morning everyone...

We did get rain last night, not a lot but still rain instead of well water to water the pLants :)

Today is go into town to pick up lumber to replace the ramp to the verandah. While Kyle is doing that, it is back to the garden for me.

No break in this fry weather for a while it seems so work early in the morning before the temp gets unbearable.

Jane, is that the kind of gourds you can make birdhouses out of?? All too soon you will be so busy canning, pickling  and gathering for winter.

Roley, enjoyed the tour love the way one gets over a fence!!

Sandy, your rollator gives you security when you walk, along with freedom to do so.

Shirley, one thing about our generation is we can make do, make things from scratch and can whip up a meal with next to nothing.

Jenny, feels so nice now with the hair cut. Way to go on the mask making!!Thoughts and prayers heading your way on a difficult day today.

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning everyone, I laid ohe couch with the TV on after my post yesterday and slept till almost 10. No wonder I couldn't say much. I feeel awake this am and slept good  and woke after 5:30. Hope everyone is wearing a mask when they go anywhere except in their own homes. I sure do not like what I hear on the news about people being out without them and in the fall it will be back and worse. We should all pray that someone finds something soon to combat this deadly virus.

LLOYD  about time you slept good.

PHYLLIS  you sounded like me yesterday morning. I did not even finish a cup of coffee and I was sleeping again. Hope today finds you more "chipper"

BUBBLE  I had to go back to Amy's post. She must have fixed it, didn't see it.I sure didn't catch that.

Just heard on the news there is another  shortage--Kayaks are in shrt supply. People taking up a new hobby?

SHIRLEY  so that is why I sleep every day, digesting the food I don't eat much of?

ROLEY/PETER I know I am going to enjoy this walk as it is where you live ad was married to your wife.

JENNY  that is a long time to wait for a funeral.

AMY  glad you did not water your pants, would have been uncomfortable. Glad my DIL came here to cut my hair or I would have had Yvette braidig it.

SANDY  I use my rollator because I do need it.

SHIRLEY  no one horded anything because we needed stamps to buy anything during WW2. Yvette told me about the bare shelves in the markets and now they are starting to fill up again. The only place IO have been since before this virus scare started was to my grandson's on the Fourth. I was so disgusted with the few flags I saw flying. I counted only 4  of them.

JANE  it was not too bad here yesterday abd the AC hardly ran at all. From what I just heard on the TV weather going to be hot and humid later. I do miss going outside for a walk a few times a day but I cannot walk in the hot sun and when it is humid I just hibernate with my AC running. I am with you being bored lately and maybe that is why I sleep so much during the day except for the 2 hours Yvette is here. Of course week ends are really boring.

PETER  just watched the Bald Explorer and enjoyed it. It amazes me to see the old buildings and churches that were built before America was even discovered. Thinking of the age makes me realize we are still a young country compared to the UK. Thanks for another  interesting walk.

AMY  thanks for the chuckle I just got with your pLants. You made sure the L was in there and could be seen.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think my head and all my extremities that depend on it are back to normal!  I'm going to try to take Mickie for a real walk after she has her breakfast this morning.  That will tell the tale!

I've read all the entries and I'm sorry I haven't commented on them.  JENNY, I'm thinking of you and your family while you "celebrate the life of your SIL".  It's not an easy thing for those of us who are left behind.

SHIRLEY, I hope you haven't "sizzled" in your steps!  It can sure get hot where you are.

ROLEY, thank your for the walks.  I'm another who enjoys your tours of England and especially seeing where you are from!

Today is a bit cooler here and it's supposed to begin raining around 11 a.m.  We shall see.

I think the boinger has gone and that means it's time for breakfast so I better get myself off this chair and start moving.  We'll see how the walk goes and then proceed with the rest of the day.

I wish you all a pleasant day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share it!

Good morning.  I have not posted anything for a couple days. But, I have read most of the messages.

Jane, do hope you are feeling better.  I have just been very lazy.  Don't feel like doing anything and I haven't been doing much.  I have a doctor's appt. tomorrow, so that will get me moving along for at least a little while.

I have been reading a lot, and then that makes me sleepy.  I have been sleepy very well, but still get so sleepy during the day.

I hope everyone is doing as good as they can with all these restrictions that most of us all are still under.  It is starting to get to me.  I feel like this is going to go on for a long while and yes, Fall will be bad again.  I don't understand why a lot of people are so against wearing a mask when it is for your own good.  Yes, they are uncomfortable, but something we should be doing.  I do feel bad for people who have health issues and have trouble wearing a mask.

I hope everyone will have a good day and be safe.

Joy

Sounds as though everyone is doing a little better today and that is good news.  I hope that trend continues.

A little cooler here this morning but still muggy with rain again this afternoon.  We are soaked.  I wish I could send some of it up to you, Amy, for your pants....uh, your plants.  ;D

I have to make  out the grocery list today for David to pick up tomorrow.  That always takes me awhile but I have plenty of time because I don't plan to do much else.

Take care, All.

Jane  :cheer:  :cheer:  :cheer: . Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Joy, I thought it was rather appropriate in these times.Yesterday while getting my hair cut we would take turns breathing without our masks on. Social distancing in place mind you. I don't like them but it is what it is and will wear one if it helps stop this darn Covid -19

AMY, if I were the one making the masks, I'd sure as heck throw in the "evil" one, too.

I'm off to bed.  Mickie and I had two of our regular walks today...one early before it got hot and one later after the storm cooled things off.  We agreed that both of us are too old and decrepit to be out walking in 90º temperatures.  So we just do a quickie out in the yard after lunch and save the walks for better times.

Frankie came over right around lunch time today and I told her she could pick the store to go get me stamps and I'd buy a pizza and drinks for our lunch.  She went and we had lunch together and talked about anything we thought of.  Then she went home around 4.  Nice!!!

I'm off to Dreamland.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, already 71 and very humid here. Forecas t calls for rain lots of it starting Friday and ending Sunday. One guesser said we could get over 3 inches of rain. We do need it but I feel bad for those who work all week and have a rainy weekend in front of them. I do remember looking forward to week ends only to have it rain or snow and stuck in the house. Oh well i AM REALLY STUCK INSIDE THIS YEAR. There I go again hitting the cap lock. That is what happens when I don't look at the keyboard.

JANE  I pray those rocks  went back to their cave and stay there now. I only had vertigo once and it scared me. The doctor gave me exercises to do and they made it worse.

JOY  I know how you are feeling. I have never  slept in the day as much as I have lately. I  think it is boredom doing it. No one in this building goes out of their apartments anymore. If not for my CNA 2 hours 5 days during the week and one son coming every Saturday morning I would see no one else. Can only read so much or at the computer or watch tv so  much. One son cannot breathe with a mask on so uses a shield and even  that bothers him.

PHYLLIS  glad you have David to pick up your groceries. I am glad Yvette likes  to shop.

AMY  I like your "Mask it or casket"

LLOYD  not like you to sleep so late. Good for you.

JANE wonderful that you had a good walk with Mickie, bet she liked it, too.

AMY  I wear a mask every time I go out of my door. That is a rule in this building. At least outside we can take it off.

JANE  how great that Frankie stops by so often, you are so lucky.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

They did get rain to the far south of us but nary a drop here. I was told that Sat will bring t storms and rain.......we shall see...

Today is go to the post office then home to work back in the garden.....so far so good. While out will pick a couple of tarps up for the neighbors .Told them what I was doing in the garden and hey want to do the same. Yesterday  I passed on going to the store too long a line up but they were going in after lunch and picked up what I needed! Bonus!!

Jane, I am with you on on the and the fabric is already on my cutting board  ;)  I told his wife when we met at the fence and she also said go for it. Need to make her more masks also.... take it easy in this fry weather.

Gloria, at least you will be able to go outside and walk a bit. With no seats to sit on ,take your rollator and use the seat on it.

Lloyd, good morning hope you and Nancy are staying cool!

Phyllis, usually I don't mind grocery shopping but this year has been trying. Waiting in line for products that are not there. :( Must be better times ahead.

Better go.........water is already on the garden :)

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had one terrific thunderstorm last evening!  And I think we might have had a bit more rain during the night.

GLORIA, I think Frankie gets a bit lonely sometimes and I'm a stand-in for her mother but we do have something special... something I don't have with any of my other grandkids.  We all have special relationships but Frankie and I faced some tough times together and we both know it.  I love it when she comes buy.

My cleaning lady is ready to go back to work and she texted me last week to ask if I need her.  I held off answering her because I know Frankie likes to clean and I know she needs the money.  I asked her if she'd like to take Tammy's place and quoted her an amount.  She is going to give it a try.  She's almost a good a dynamo as Tammy and now we'll see how she does.

When we went back the hall last night Mickie seemed to be limping a bit.  I tried to see which leg she was favoring because he definitely wasn't limping when we went for our walk.  I couldn't tell but when she was up on the bed she seemed not to want me to touch her left front leg.  So I let her alone and prayed it would be better this morning.  I think it might be although I did help her down the steps to the yard.  When she came back in, she didn't seem to be favoring it as much.  I'm watching her.  And if she does favor it, I'll be calling the Vet later.

I think it might be almost time for the boinger so...

I wish you all a good day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to come by and share it with your friends!

Good morning all, from a damp and cloudy Scotland.

I've been busy the last few days, don't know where the time goes!

Last Sunday we went down to Edinburgh and visited our daughters, which was lovely as we had not seen them since March. One of them will return to London at the end of the month. It was quite strange being in the city again.  We then went out to visit my mother in her sheltered housing - she is only allowed to have guests in the garden at present, so it was a bit of a challenge as she does not hear too well, but I think she enjoyed seeing us.

Earlier this week the National Trust for Scotland re-opened some of their properties - grounds only, not the buildings. We are very fortunate here in having many places nearby, so we went for a walk in the grounds of Crathes Castle. I thought it might be crowded but in fact there were just a few people and their dogs. It was a great walk in beautiful sunny weather - there are extensive woodlands, a lake, a salmon 'ladder', and wonderful views of the Aberdeenshire countryside. I am meeting a friend there again tomorrow. The icing on the cake will be when they are able to re-open their cafe, but just having the walks open is such a bonus.

This Saturday we are hoping to visit our son and daughter-in-law in the Highlands. I hope the weather stays fine as it is a spectacular drive from Deeside to Speyside, right over the Lecht across miles and miles of moors and hills.

A friend who currently lives in France is coming over soon as her daughter is about to have her first baby. Lorna (my friend) is going to rent a property just a few minutes walk from my house, so it will be great to see her again. We have known one another since our children were little, and now she is about to become a grandmother!

My younger daughter messaged me a couple of nights ago (she is living in our house in Edinburgh) - 'Mum, will it be OK if I keep  a dead bird in the freezer until I go back to college?' - things you never thought you'd hear!  Seems she had found a little bird dead in the garden, and one of her art course friends wants it for her work. My husband said OK so long as it was very well wrapped and boxed, and that she checked it very day for a build up of gases - I certainly do not want my freezer exploding!

I'm off for my walk now.

Have a good day all,

Rosemary

Good Morning everyone. It is already 75º @ 6:30 AM here. do not hear any noise in the clouds as yet, but is very cloudy out there. sure hope we get some good rain.
so Nancy can quit fussing about watering the flowers. Mother will most likely do a better job of it anyway. I will be glad when fall and cool weather gets here. I went to V A day before yesterday, the would not let me in.had to have a appointment, only no advance warning of that I do not know how they are handling emergency's. just can't get sick ?? Have a good healthy day.

I'm here but it wasn't a good night and isn't starting to be a very good day so I'll probably spend most of it in the recliner.

Nice to see you back, Rosemary, and to hear that things are getting back to a little bit more normal in Scotland.  Unfortunately, we are going the other way here.  There must be an end to this some day.  I admit you have given me something to think about .... a dead bird in your freezer.  hmmmmm.  What we won't do for our kids.

Maybe Mickie has a touch of arthritis, Jane?  The rainy weather might be bothering her. I hope she is doing better now.

Take care, All.  Stay safe.

PHYLLIS, you might be right about Mickie and the arthritis.  She was limping a bit this morning but when it came time for our walk and she saw me in my hat and sunglasses and holding the leash, her tail practically wagged off her behind.  And she was able to make the whole walk, including the two back steps with no problem.  Maybe it gets stiff when she just lays around.

Ill have to watch that!

Jane - my elderly Siamese has arthritis, and occasionally she overstretches herself by jumping off something too high, and seems to jar one of her joints. She limps for a couple of days sometimes, then seems to recover.

I have had her at the vet for this before now, but they originally put her on Loxicom (which seems to be the go-to drug for dogs and cats), but although it seemed to help, I think she was left on it far too long, and it damaged her gastric system. Now she has gastric bleeding whenever she has a stomach upset. She has had lots of tests done and they can't find anything wrong apart from that - once they give her an anti-emetic and the vomiting stops, the bleeding stops.  So the important thing for me is to keep her system on an even keel - she's usually sick if she's had too much rich food, or (sorry to  be so detailed!) she is constipated. (So now she is on laxatives!)

Our old retriever also went onto Loxicom when she was quite elderly. She had a disastrous reaction to it - palpitations, distress...so she had to come straight off it again. I do know that it works very well for many animals, these are just things you maybe need to look out for.

Anyway, sounds like Mickie has recovered, so that's great!

Phyllis - I do hope you feel better soon.

We do see a bit of what is happening in the US on our news. Do you think it is because the lockdowns have not been severe enough, or not enforced enough? Are people ignoring the rules or not? I think most people in Scotland have been pretty compliant. In England the information has been far less clear, and some politicians have set very poor examples, so things have not gone quite so well. The number of cases is, however, falling in both countries now. Northern Ireland has also done extremely well in managing the virus. We do not have any real opposition to wearing masks, etc - I don't think most UK residents have quite the same thing about personal freedom that some Americans have; we are happy to accept that we do not have a right to have a gun, or to endanger other people by our actions (though sadly, as in most countries, that goes straight out of the window when some people get behind the wheel of a car.) I suppose it is all a matter of opinion and cultural difference.

I just hope that, now the lockdown is being eased here, the illness does not get brought onto our small Hebridean (and other) islands - most of them have managed to keep it out altogether, which they really need to as their health facilities are often very limited - but now holiday accommodation is being opened up and people are flocking up from the south as they have often had to abandon their plans to holiday abroad. I know that tourism is a vital source of income to rural Scotland, but it's a very fine balance to maintain. At least the authorities will hopefully be very quick to crack down on any outbreaks now.

Lloyd - I am not sure what VA is? All of our medical facilities here are requiring pre-booked appointments for non-emergency matters just now, and dentists and opticians are only being allowed to do some kinds of treatment. My friend, whose daughter is a dentist, was explaining that they can't, for example, do anything the requires a water spray, as the droplets float up towards the ceiling then start floating down again - so they would need to empty the room for at least two hours and disinfect it twice before they could use it for the next patient. It did make me wonder what floats down on us in normal circumstances!

I am sure the Accident and Emergency department at the hospital would still see anyone with a real emergency - another friend went recently, she had to go in alone, with her husband waiting in the car, but she said once inside it was very quiet, she was seen far more quickly than she had been when she attended last year, and the staff, she said, were all very relaxed and laid back.

Rosemary, the lockdowns here have not been enforced enough, and our State Governor actually (to my thinking) began opening businesses @ 25%, then 50%, thinking only in terms of the economy (I feel sorry for all the small businesses who have lost and are still losing money) but I can't get my head around choosing $$ over peoples lives.  Our cases have tripled in the last month or two.  People are being so nasty about not wearing masks, sounding like little children, "you can't make me wear a mask, this is a free country" blah blah blah.
Early on you may have seen a post from me ranting about people in the grocery stores trying to run you down, to get to the toilet paper, hand sanitizer, etc., Well, on Tuesday I went to the grocery, a woman came in behind me, and before we even got out of the lobby portion of the store, ran her basket into the back of my legs.  I turned around and saw she didn't have a mast.  I said "ma'am, where's your mask?"  She said oh, I forgot it's in the car.  Well, she left, and I didn't see her come back in.  Of course there are signs posted on all the doors and windows of the store saying "you must wear a face mask".  Apparently she can't read either, as well as being rude and careless! Enough of my rant.
By the way, the "VA" as Lloyd mentioned is Veteran's Administration hospitals.

I'm going to say an early "Good Night".  I just got back from taking Mickie for a walk and I'm going to take a shower before Frankie falls asleep for the night.  If someone is here, I like to take my showers while the are here and alert.  It's just a bit safer that way.

Mickie made the whole circle with me and I think someone is right, she's just stiff from not moving as much as usual.  Because of my vertigo, I haven't been taking her for REAL walks for almost a week now.  I think she just might need to stretch her legs but I'm going to keep a close eye on her.

Now, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning from sunny Deeside!

I am up earlier than I have been for some time, as I am meeting my friend at 9am at Crathes Castle for a walk. It rained and rained yesterday so I think the paths will be very different from Monday.  I put my boots into the airing cupboard last night in the vain hope that they'd dry off by this morning - but sadly they haven't, so I will just have to put them on wet...

Tomereader - that incident in your store sounds horrible, but well done you for challenging the woman. From today it is a legal requirement in Scotland to wear a mask in shops. It has been a legal requirement to wear one on public transport for some time already. I know it feels a little strange at first, but as our First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said, car seat belts felt weird once - and now we just put them on automatically (or face being stopped by the police, and somewhat more importantly, getting ourselves killed.)  She is still taking us out of lockdown far more slowly than the Westminster government is doing in England. It's the same thing with them - money, money, money. Sturgeon does, of course, want our economy to get back on the rails as soon as possible, but unlike Westminster, she does not want to put people's health on the block to achieve that. Nevertheless, I have seen comments on social media to the effect that she 'just wants to ruin our economy and bring the country to its knees.' Why on earth would an incumbent FM want to do that? Fortunately these people, vociferous as they are, are in a tiny minority in Scotland. Nicola Sturgeon and her government have been acclaimed, even by people who would never vote for them, as having handled this crisis very well indeed.  Like I said, people trust her because she is one of us.

Have a good day everyone,

Rosemary

Good morning everyone, 69 and humidity is 95% Rain is supposed to start at 1pm and we can have winds to 45mph. As soon as I went to get out of bed I knew the humidity was high because my back told me so. It is only 2:30 now so tat means I woke really early. Oh well after breakfst I will lay on the couch and get some more ZZZz's while I watch TV through closed eyes.  Even the weather under my post from yesterday is so different from the the weather  guessers said on their reports.

AMY  last weather I saw last night was that a topical storm had formed off the coast and was headed to NY and we would get it here, too. Canot believe any of them, go to different channels and they are all different. Without my rollator I would not be able to walk  but with this heat and strong sun I cannot go for a walk ynless I did it at this time and I don't like doing that alone in the dark with most everyone still asleep.

JANE  you are fortunate you have Frankie visit and have special time with her. I don't see my grands often, they are all so busy with their own lives.  Hope Mickie is OK this morning.

ROSEMARY  I would love to see some of the places you talk about. They sound so beautiful. Then there are a lot of places I would have loved to see here in the US but was never much for traveling. I like being home too much.

LLOYD  we need rain here before we start getting brush fires.

PHYLLIS  I hope you are better today. I know I have some days when I feel I have no energy left.

TOMEREADER  our governor has been slow opening things here and stresses the mask all the time.  I seldom go anywhere but just stepping out of my apartment door  I have my mask on. Hardly see any of the other tenenants and some will get into their cars to go to the market and back here. Doctors and dentists are still not seeing patients.

SHIRLEY  are you  feeling OK? Such a short post from you last night is NOT like you at all.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and waiting for the boinger for breakfast.  I'm going to get dressed and go out and water my plants before it gets so hot the sun drinks up all the water before it can soak into the ground and do the roots some good.

I wish you all a lovely day!

Good morning, Gloria (and anyone else awake at this hour)..... I've been up & about for more than an hour. Tried to go back to sleep but started seeing lightning & heard thunder so got up again to let the cats in. Tiger & Callie were waiting at the door but poor Tom, he must have seen or heard sooner and is already in his hidey hole, where ever that is. He comes home dry, but is so terrified of storms, I really hate him being out alone. They have choices and still want to be free so it's what they choose. I was so tired last night I was in a hurry to get to bed. All 3 kids called to let me know about their day (& check on me).

Oldest son has been over 2 days in a row fixing my sprinkler system so as long as he is out there working, I am out there talking to him & doing what I can to help. Mainly going to the basement to start the well to test the heads...Fitbit said I did those steps 4 times yesterday but sure thought it was more than that. I also got a sunburn... not bad enough to blister but can feel the heat & can sure see where my shirt covered. I dug out some old "tank tops" this week, too hot to care what I look like! Goodness, I could pull skin on my arms an inch or more & trim off those wrinkles, but not going to happen. I know the exercise is good for me but don't move much unless I am pushed.  ::)

Here comes the rain! Night before we had 2 & a quarter inches so that should help. The grass going down to the river is so dry it looks like late August. Wow, lightning just drilled into the ground on the other side of the river. My son sent photos of a large tree near his house that lightning hit the night before, sliced the trunk & will have to be removed. We had a tree in our front yard (years ago) hit by lightning, popped some of the bark onto the front porch & the bolt went into the ground, hit the well wiring & followed it into the house & got the security system & closest electric items to the well (like TV & phones). We didn't even think about turning it into the insurance, just repaired ourselves.

Times like this I wish we had lightning rods like my grandmother's house! After she died, when we went back to the house after the auction, we found one of the rods, melted at the end, & still had the glass ball on it. Dad said it had "done it's job to lead the bolt into the ground via the copper wire". My daughter has it now, she loved the story. I'll have to remind her to show to her gr-kids since this is their last day visiting with her. She took them to the Science Museum yesterday, said it was so different with the virus restrictions, but kids loved it, said they wore their masks the whole 2 hours with no complaints. Said not many people like before. St.Louis has a lot to entertain kids (and adults).

Better look for the kind of Round Up needed to kill weeds & Bermuda grass growing in the pool pump enclosure. Andy said they have a battery powered type that is ready to use & don't have to pump, so will check online at the stores before heading out. I used to (before computers) go from store to store until I found what was needed, now it is much easier to do the searching online first! Not a lot of rain so far but interesting lightning & thunder! Been hearing about the storms along the east coast, lots of rain but the wind more like our every day speeds. Stay safe, all of our east coast friends!

Good morning, Amy, sure wish I had a garden to tend to. You should hear this thunder rolling across the sky.... can't remember when it was so noisy! Better check radar, probably should turn off the computer & unplug, don't have this one on a surge protector.  :o  Have a great day.

And here's Jane! I'd better close & have a look outside. I'm watching out the corner of my eyes & qhite a show Mother Nature is putting on. Shirley

The tropical depression that has been sitting off of the NC coast for the last 2 or 3 days has finally moved on up the coast and I'm feeling better.  The barometric pressure changes really affect my head.  Not much I can do about the weather.  I hope it brings rain to those of you who need it up there.  We certainly don't need any more down here for awhile.

I can't believe it is Friday again so soon.  This week has gone by very quickly.  No plans today except maybe I'll put some stew beef in the slow cooker.  We haven't had a good beef stew for quite some time and I have all the ingredients that I need.  I want to use up some of the potatoes....they are beginning to sprout.

Take care, All.

Hi to everyone.

I have read most of your messages, and it does sound like most of you are coping with all the unordinary problems that we all have.  Like most of you, I really have not been out that much.  I did have a doctor's appt. yesterday with the heart doctor, and there was not anyone in the waiting room, and only 2 girls at the desk.  The doctor aid he is just like everyone else..... taking things one day at a time.  Everything was good and I don't have to go back for 6 months. It was too early to stop for lunch, so my DIL just brought me home and after I had lunch, I took a long nap.

I had a call in the late afternoon, that a very old friend of our family had passed away.  She had fallen and broke her leg  a week or so ago, and was doing well.  But, she did have some fluid in her lungs and I guess that was the cause of her death. It was totally unexpected and I am very sad today.  I have not heard anything about whether there will be a funeral or not. Hard to lose old friends !!  And, unfortunately, she was alone.

it is a little cloudy outside right now, but I think my area will escape the rain that is coning up the east coast.
We are a good ways inland, but a little rain would be welcomed.

Almost time for lunch, and then probably another afternoon nap.

Enjoy the rest of the day and stay safe.

JOY, please accept my condolences and my prayers for you and your friend. It's not easy to lose a clos friend.  We don't have all that many of them left.

We had a mostly rainy day today but it didn't have any effect on the heat!  It stayed in the high 80s and low 90s most of the day.  Mickie and I got our walks in but one was in the rain.  It was a soft sprinkle and we didn't really mind it.

SHIRLEY, I know exactly what you mean about "trimming off the excess skin" and I sure wish that was possible but I'm pretty sure whatever muscle is left in my arms is contained in that droopy skin and I sure don't want to risk losing what's left.

I'm off to bed now and I sure hope tomorrow isn't as boring as today!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

Today is THEE day....we are to get some rain!! We shall see about that.
Yesterday did not go as planned but that's ok. Met up with our friend and exchanged parcels then home to bake. As we were coming home a fox ran across the road.........always nice to see them. Bread ,Rangers cookies and upside down pineapple cakes. Ran one cake over to the neighbours and will take a loaf of bread to another neighbour today. No garden got done ,just the watering part .....so the weeds still live!

Today is take garbage to the dump then into town to pick up lumber, Kyle is making a new work table and jut needs the top for it. Laundry is my plan then more sewing but not saying that too loud as we know plans change.

Joy, I am sorry for your loss.Losing a friend hurts and now more than ever as we can't go see them or to a funeral. Just remember all the good times you have had with her.

Jane,  please boot the rain here!! The ground is so dry and hard I would think the rain would bounce off of it before it begins to sink in.

Phyliss, that stew sounds good!
Shirley, I would love the rain but not the thunder. Babe isn't too keen on the music that  a storm brings. If it is really bad I just cuddle her  until it stops..

Better put an egg in my boot and beat it...

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe please.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm going to try to make today count for something!  I'm not sure what just yet.  My personal shopper (daughter Cathy) wants my list today.  She's going tomorrow, I think!  So that's #1 on the agenda.

We're currently waiting for the boinger and then we'll have breakfast and our first walk of the day.  Our high is only supposed to be 82º and that's lower than it's been for almost 2 weeks now.  However, more rain is predicted for  this afternoon so we shall see.

AMY, it's been my consideration that the weeds will wait for anything and just "dig in their roots" a little further each time we pass them by.  Stubborn little buggers to say the least.

I think I just heard the boinger go off so I guess I better get moving.  If Annie was here, she'd hear it too and let me know in no uncertain terms that it's time to eat.  Mickie can't here it so she waits patiently until I'm ready.  Guess what?  I'M READY!

Have a great day Everyfriend!

Good morning everyone, so much for all the rain from the tropical storm-we did not get even 1 drop of rain here. Not windy either.

AMY  after Yvette left I did get about a 30 minute nap, that was enough. Last night I went to bed about 10:30 and woke at 6 this morning, much better.  Your 20 drops of rain made me think of me daughter telling me they had a 2 inch rain, 1 drop here and another 2 inches away. At first I was surprised they got 2 inches of rain at one time in the high desert.

JANE  hope you got your plants watered before the sun got too hot. Since my daughter has raised beds to plant in my SIL set up a drip system to water them. It drips into the soil near all the plants and they set a timer for it. He had set a system like that when they lived in San Diego and it sure put the water where needed.  They also got a bale of hay and spread it betw een the rows and helped keep the moisture from evaporating fast.  That  would be something for AMY to try in her big garden.

SHIRLEY  I ge t worn out reading all you do. I don't do much of anything especially in summer. I will not go out  to walk around in the hot sun.  I could walk the hallways but that is boring. When I hear thunder I shut the PC and every thing else off. We had a TV get hit once because the man I marrie d would not shut the TV off. I used to unplug everuything during a storm but now just shut every thing off. We had no part of that storm and happy about that. I often wonder how this building would hold up in a hurricane. It has never been through one since it was built about 15 years ago. I wonder how strong it is at times, if the outside materials are better than the cheap ones used on the inside.

LLOYD  hope Nancy had a good report from her doctor.

PHYLLIS  way back when I was still working I would tell others we were gig to get a snow storm and they would ask how I knew. I could feel that barometric pressure changing and they said impossible. When it sta rted snowing they did not laugh. I finally said nothing and you are the first one saying anything about that pressure and the feeling it gives. We did not even get a drop of rain here and no wind either.

JOY  sad when one lives alone and dies with no one knowing. Glad my 3 call me every day to check up on me.

JANE  with all the weight I lost I am surprised my arms and other places are not all flabby. Maybe it came off so slow and I was not trying to lose pounds. I seldom get on the scale and was surprised when my clothes started getting baggy.

Time for me to get moving before son makes his Saturday visit.

Have a good day and s tay safe.

The beef stew was really good and very filling.  David and I both enjoyed it.  And the best part is there is enough left for another meal that I won't have to cook.  Yay!

MAKE it a good day, Everyone.

Good morning.  And, the sun is trying to make an appearance,

We did not get any of the rain from the storm that came up the east coast.  The beaches all got a lot, with a lot of flooded areas.  We could use some rain.

Thank you all for your kind words of sympathy.  Yes, it is sad that patients in hospitals and nursing homes are still not allowed visitors.  Really so hard on families.

I need to get something to eat and get on with the day.  Please stay safe !!!

We had lots of thunder and very little rain :( Sure hope there is more rain to come, without the thunder.

Joy, my neighbours Mom passed and he is the only child yet couldn't get in to see her. They did keep up conversations on the phone but you can't hug over the phone.

Phyllis, I love leftovers. In fact last night we had some...zucchini, onions, celery, tomatoes and hamburg  plus garlic all fried up together. I had made lots so an easy meal the next day....works for me

Managed to get some sewing done but not as much as I would have liked......maybe tomorrow.

Amy, that sounds almost like what my brother fixed when my 2 sons helped him "hoe the garden". He just wanted the company and they thought it was fun, especially when he let them help with fixing food they had just picked. I never could come up with that same taste  ;)  ... but he also added potatoes & don't think the tomatoes (at least the way my boys described it).

I put off doing anything outside, actual temp is 97°  but feels like 113°, so online weather says. I need to take clippers & loppers to a rose bush that has some wisteria & mulberry growing right up the stem. I've cut it out regularly and know it will grow right back, but can't put a killer on without killing that climbing rose. It was here when we bought the house 32 years ago & faithfully blooms every spring.  It has gotten out of hand so best thing to do is nip the base of the wisteria & mulberry & let them die and then try to unwind them.

Trees are absolutely still right now so I should go get the Round Up that I bought yesterday, to kill the weeds growing in the pool pump area. Can't believe what a mess it is. I got the kind already mixed that comes with a battery powered sprayer. Son & salesman say I don't need to wear a mask when spraying so guess it won't kill me. Hate putting poisons out because never sure if critters will touch it or birds eat contaminated bugs. Noticed the bag worms have started on a big evergreen shrub in the berm. Will have to get tough with them, as well, or they will eat the bush to death. Not sure why we have to have bag worms & weeds, but we do! Lots of things I SHOULD be doing.

Shirley you should not spray the Round Up. it should be put on only a wick rope by dragging it over the tops of the weed's and 0r grass you want to kill, It drifts and will kill even things you do not wan tot. mabey you should watch the TV curmishel about the money set aside for law suts of the use of it. it is not healthy any way you use it either. the weeds only hurt your thoughts not tour health think about your life and health. except poison oak or Iavey.

Hello, my friends!  Mickie woke me to say it was time for her last foray to the yard for the day so I got ready to take her and something told me to put her on the leash.  We got down the steps in a real hurry and I kept a tight hold on the lease as she headed into the holly bushes off the front of the porch.  I yanked back just in time to see a skunk looking out at us.  We hightailed it up the steps and I took her in the bathroom and washed her face and while we were in there I gave her a good bath all over.  Not my plan for the night but sometimes things just work out.  Now the whole neighborhood smells bad.  I wonder what you do about that?  And I wonder how long it takes to go away.

Sorry!  I had a long interruption while I washed and dried some towels and rugs after I found what Mickie wanted to go out for and didn't get to finish the job out there.

Now, I'm going to bed.  I'm beat right down to my socks and that's bad because I'm in my bare feet.  I've got candles lit all over the house that I'll have to blow out before I go to bed and Glade thingys open all over the house, fans on and a clothespin on my nose (not really but I wish).

Good Night! Sweet Dreams and may God bless us, every one!  (Except maybe that skunk.  I really don't know what they're good for unless it's to get us some exercise!)

Good morning everyone. I am going to stop listening to weather reports. After all the hoopla last week about the storm coming for several days we did not get 1 drop of rain and it was not windy either. Just plain hot and humid like a typical July week.

PHYLLIS  I always made too much when I made beef stew so have not made it in a long time. I like it gut  without much of an appetite  end up throwing a lot away. I dislihrowing food away.

JOY  this building is in almost a complete lock down. The witch would like to keep all visitors out. Most of us only have family come to check up on us and I will not tell my sons not to come here.

AMY  older son brought me a nice fresh from his garden a summer squash and a zucchini yesterday. Now to get the energy to cook them. Might wait till tomorrow and have Yvette cook them. Walking wih my rollator is OK but standing at the stove is hard now. Makes my legs wobble and back ache.

SHIRLEY  I don't know how you can go outside and do any work in this heat. I stay inside wi h the AC on and keeping me cool.

JANE  when I lived at my son's house I would wake up during the night with a skunk stink coming in the open window. I would get up, shut the window and get a can of air freshener and spray all over then shut the bedroom door and go and sleep the rest of the night on the couch. Terrible way to be awakened in the middle of the night.

Looks I am here too early for many posts to read.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone...

Well Gloria, I am with you on the weather..all we got was a lot of thunder, power outages and a few drops of rain.
I had watered the garden from the rain barrel with hopes of having it topped up with rain water. Son called ,I could hardly hear him as the rain on the roof in his garage was pounding down. He said people were driving with their 4 ways on as it was raining that hard. When I talk to him today I will tell him he squeezed all the rain from the clouds .
I even tried to tempt the rain by hanging the laundry out.......didn't work..

Today is a day of rest will just do the necessities and get some sewing done.

Jane, I can sympathize with you on the skunk perfume. One time Sassy got sprayed and I gave her a bath in baking soda, vinegar and water. Now, the smell didn't seem too bad  and we had to go to work. While waiting to put our lumber order in one of the fellas said .. I think a skunk got hit on the highway.....Kyle and I just looked at each other but we were sure glad to be able to get out of there fast!!! We never did tell them the full story. Hope you both are better this morning.

Gloria, you can't beat fresh from the garden.

Better get a move on...

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend! I can tell you that the skunk smell will dissipate overnight.  It was totally gone this morning.  And I don't think Mickie really needed a bath because that little stinker didn't have time to turn around before he sprayed so she didn't get it at all.  And the candles, Glades and fans did the job inside.  We slept very well.

So far, it's only up to 72º this morning and the prediction is for a high of only 82.  I like that!  I could take whole summer of that!

Yesterday, I did some cooking and cleaning.  The food was good and the clean made me feel good.  I also made contact with a guy who is going to clean out my rain gutters "cheap".  So all in all, until Mr. SK showed up, it was a pretty good day!

SHIRLEY, I like your new pot and the "tree" looks good in it.  I had that same problem with a plant some years back.  I repotted it twice and then decided to plant it outside.  I died there!  No matter what I did it wouldn't grow.  I think it felt like family and wanted to be inside.

Now I have to get ready for church.  Mine is on YouTube so it's easy to go there.  Of course, I'd rather be there in person but we do what we can.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!

Past my bedtime but can't get caught up today. Had to install something on the computer & wanted to wait until cats were taken care of for the night. I never did eat supper but managed to polish off two small ice cream cones. I don't tolerate milk so limit the amount of ice cream by using the little cones... hey, works for me!

Lloyd, I haven't used the Round UP yet, couldn't figure how to get the spray/ wand unhooked from the jug. duh.... What I got was the Ortho brand instead of Round Up... same thing but the salesman said Ortho worked better for him. The pool pump area has a wooden fence around it so to get rid of the weeds, have to spray. Have 3 old motor/pumps sitting there & the filter, etc... so perfect place for weeds like Bermuda grass & trees to get going. Can't pull them out or chop them off so gotta do what I gotta do. Thanks for the warning, I not only hate using this stuff for what it can do to humans but also what it can do to the bugs the birds eat, etc.

Thanks for the comment about the plant, Jane, I know what you went through with the one you planted outside. When Cas retired he brought home a ficus tree from the office. It happened to love that same spot in the living room, but kept growing until it took up that whole corner. Big problem was it decided it should drop it's leaves like the trees outside & I was having to rake the carpet! Gave up & pulled it outside that sliding door. When I brought it back in I wasn't thinking & brought in a ficus tree full of bugs! Pulled it back outside & let it freeze. Bad me, still feel guilty about killing a tree. I've only smelled a skunk around here one time in the last few years, but the neighbor has cameras aimed at their chicken house (cutest house you ever saw)... and say they often see skunks, opossum & raccoons as well as the fox. They close the little door to the chicken house every night now. I talk to the "girls" when I go turn the pump on or off.... love chickens.

Sweet dreams and God Bless. Today had it's ups & downs. Decided to go to church & see how it was doing. Nicely organized with every other pew roped off, families could sit side by side but everyone else the 6' apart. We all had our masks on so felt okay being there. BUT, we usually went to McDonald's for breakfast after, so I went through the drive thru & was told they no longer have biscuits & gravy!!! Told the girl "this virus has finally hit bottom for me, giving up biscuits & gravy was the last straw!"  She actually sounded shocked I was so vocal & apologized. Told her I was okay but sure would miss my fav breakfast. Life goes on....

It is late but I just could not let another day go by without saying HELLO.

SHIRLEY, it seems NOTHING is ever going to be the same again.  So many changes every time we turn around.  Today it is your biscuits and gravy and who knows what tomorrow?

We went to the store this afternoon to pick up a few things.  Decided to have brats for dinner and y thought I would get some of the cheap buns that are always so soft and hug your brat so well.  Got ready to use them and they we far from being fresh....not soft and almost stale smelling.  Expiration date is the 17t.  Then I picked up a package of the bakery cookies.....same store....they are hard and stale tasting.  I think they have been making things and then freezing them to keep up with the demand.  What ever the reason, they are awful.  We have been rather solum the past few days since the funeral on Wednesday.  It has been really hot and we will continue to be hot for the next week.

JANE, it has bee; awhile since anyone I know has been face to face with a 🦨.  Sorry Mickie managed to get some of the spray on her, but it sure sounds like it could have been so much worse😩

We still have to gather the refuse for our trash pickup tomorrow, so I had best go check out the fridge and see what needs to go.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Good morning everyone. Not supposed to get as hot today, only 80 so we are told. Lately it feels like I am living by myself in this building. Don't see anyone anymore. At ties I do see one of the cars gone from the parking lot. Since it has been so hot and humid I have not been going out. It was nice Saturday having both sons here and at the same time. That does not happen often.
Yesterday Microsoft did an update with IE and make it my default. I have used Google so  many years I do not want to change. I did not realize what else it did. I lost my Skype and could not chat with my daughter yesterday. Now I will have to install it again.

AMY  my son knows I don't cook anymore so don't know what I  will do with the ones he gave me. I might have Yvette fry up the zucchini. Coat it in flour, beaten egg and then breadcrumbs. Tasty. I don't have any tomatoes in the pantry so cannot cook it that way. For so early in the season the zucchini is a big one.

JANE  wish I could clean and cook like I used to. Would love to move things away from the walls and clean behind them. CNA's are not allowed to do that incase they hurt themselves. After 6  years it must be pre tty dusty back there.

LLOYD  hope you slept good last night.

SHIRLEY  hope you get that spray working to get rid of the weeds.

JENNY  what a bummer buying something at the market and then finding it stale. Yuck.

AMY  still no rain here either. Hope you both get new shoes.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Just have time to say...

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And then I'm off to feed Mickie, take her for a short walk and get ready for pickup by my friend, Shirley.  We're off to the berry patch to pick black raspberries!  And we got a nice day for it.  The temps will only be in the 70s up until noon and it's supposed to be a bit cloudy.  And the berry patch was closed on Sunday so there should be lot of berries just crying to be picked today.

Enjoy your morning!  Don't know when I'll get back in here.  When I get back, there will be berries needing attention.

Good Morning ladies. it is 67º and going for 91º here today. well no need to repeat, but life is less fun getting old. on the other hand those of you older than i keep on running and I will do the same for those younger than i.
It is great having the grand and great grands living with us. they all have good greetings, and a good hug and kisses for us old folks, and willing to help. they do not make a nuisance of their selves either. we have carpet all through the house except in the kitchen areas. as well as electric vacuums cleaners we have a push brush that roles brushes that pick up good on either carpet and or tiled areas. even the short britches like to posh it. more help than you might think. we have hollyhock's plant all around the house. short britches broke one half of a double off. his dad seen it and gave him one swat on the britches and made him come and apologize for it, I think that broke my heart as much as his. great grand i mean to say. when we were little my middle brother drew a picture on the wall in our aunt's bath room wall. mom started to make a issue of and aunt would not let her and she went in there and drew a circle around it and said now leave it alone. that picture was on that wall until well after she had passed on to god. Have a great day and stay in and stay cool.

Just stopping by to say "Hello"

I am having another lazy day.  Another "pity-party" for poor me.  LOL   It will pass.  Meanwhile I can always take another nap.  Those naps come in handy.  A good way to try to forget about things for a while.

At least it is a pretty sunny day, with bright blue sky.  I decided not to get my hair done today. Just didn't feel like it today.  Got a couple chores I do want to try to get to today.  I talked to my niece the other day, and she assured me that, at my age, I am entitled to do or not do, anything I want to. So, I will listen to her suggestion.
LOL

Jane, enjoy your berry picking outing today.  Sounds like fun!!  Have not done that for many years.  I know whatever you make with them, it will be delicious !!

Gloria, I am so glad that you got to visit with both of your sons on Sat.  I have not seen any family members, except for 1 daughter-in=law for a while now.  The other daughter-in-told me that she has not been any place except for work, since all this mess started back in March. They just have been working about the house and yard.  They are used to going out to eat several times a week, and she said she does miss that.  But, she is really very aware of staying safe.  Luckily, she has her own business and has been able to go to work.  Only several employees, so it has been a safe place and they have been busy.  My one son who is a mechanic told me that his place has really been busy, and the other son, who is in construction, told me they have really been busy also.

Sure hope everyone is being safe and has a good afternoon.

Joy

It was a gorgeous morning to be outside today!  The temp never got past 78 the whole time we were out and there was a lovely breeze blowing.  And also, because they were closed on Sunday, the picking was so easy.  The bushes were just LOADED with berries.  I got all I needed and my friend got all she needed and we had a pleasant visit on the way to and from the farm.

When I got home, I immediately cleaned half the berries so JOY, I will be eating black raspberries and milk for breakfast tomorrow!  I'll think of you as I'm eating.  The rest that I cleaned will go to two batches of triple berry jam to be made later.  I have the strawberries already in the freezer but I have to wait for the late batch of red raspberries.

Then I had lunch, saw to the doggies needs and met with a guy about my rain gutters.  They need more than I can afford right now so I guess that will wait until I can save up a little more.

After he left, I took a short nap and now I'm waiting for Frankie to come by and pick up Cooper doggie!

Then I have to move as much of the stuff out of the back room as I can so they can finish the floor in there tomorrow.  And I think I better get started.

Sorry Everyone! I got started on the stuff and forgot to post so here goes....

AMY, Kyle will be working even faster in his new "running shoes".  I hope you can keep up in your old ones because it sounds like you didn't get new ones.

LLOYD, enjoy your family.  I know you will!

Good morning everyone, we got some rain yesterday at last. Lasted about 5 minutes. Maybe enough to keep the dust down for a little while.?

Oh wow, just heard on the news a restaurant opened after the shut down but did not follow the rules about limiting those who came in.  The department of health shut him down again. He told them that this virus is a hoax anyway. Tell that to the families of those who died and the ones suffering it now.  Hope they never let him open up again.

JANE  hope you picked and ate a couple of those nice big and juicy black raspberries for each of us yesterday. Oh yummy. Going to make some jam now? Or a pie? Wonder if my magic carpet still works, if it does I will be there soon.

LLOYD  from what I just heard on TV we will be in the upper 70's today but very humid.

JOY  I keep saying I feel like I am so lazy now when I was always so busy in my home. I have been lold by my daughter that at my age I am not lazy just my body wearing out. She is so right.

SHIRLEY  anything that I know needs doing in here these days I let Yvette take care of. She has spoiled me/ She keeps telling me to go sit down, she will do this or that.

AMY  glad you got  into Costco early and got what you needed and Kyle got his shoes, did you get a pair, too? Hope so.

Have a g ood day and stay safe.

Up into the mid 90's again today for us, too.  This seems like such a long summer to me and we still have a ways to go.

I walked into a large puddle of water on the floor of the 1/2 bath downstairs yesterday morning.  It appeared that a leak was coming from under the toilet tank.  When I called the plumber the office lady said they were booked solid until Friday.  She thought they could work me in "after hours" but it would cost extra.  I agreed to that.  Then about 2 p.m. she called and said they had a cancellation and could be there in an hour.  Yay!  While he was here he also fixed a slow leak in the kitchen faucet.  A nice guy and seemed to be efficient but no mask so I kept my distance from him and cautioned David to do the same.  All is fixed now and I am very happy.

That was about as much excitement as I cared to handle for awhile so hope things go back to being dull and normal.  No plans for today except for a little household laundry.

Take care, All.

Lloyd, I got your address from Bubble so will send you e-mail (I still have your e-mail). Have you ever used Google maps, type in an address and it shows you the house & street?  Fun to do when you can't find a good western movie on TV....

Gloria, keep meaning to ask you what you had to do to find a Yvette?  My cousin had an insurance policy for home health care but she was never so lucky to find one like Yvette!

We had wind blowing the trees from side to side & in circles this morning. Sun shining & to get to mid 90s today. I have a routine Dr appointment tomorrow for Echo, so will spend today trying to shape me up. Haven't gotten to go anyplace but store or Walmart for months so am excited about getting out! His nurse & I can talk up a storm when we see each other & he normally gives me a hug but bet not this time with all the warnings. Our city/state has so many new cases of the virus because the restrictions have not been listened to, may be a lot worse before better.

Wishing all a happy day, whatever you have to do to make it happy!  Remember, we don't get this day to do over!!!

The last of the flooring is done and it changed the room so much that I've decided to use that one for a bedroom and the one that's a bedroom now will be my storeroom.  This one is brighter with two windows and suddenly looks so much neater and cleaner that it will be better as a bedroom.  It's also bigger.  Tomorrow, I'm going to take the bed down apart and move it over  there so I don't have to move the "stuff" twice.

And now I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!
