The  Platters

The Great Pretender

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Pretending I'm doing well
My need is such
I pretend too much
I'm lonely but no one can tell

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Adrift in a world of my own
I play the game but to my real shame
You've left me to dream all alone

Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around

Too real is this feeling of make-believe
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender
Just laughing and gay like a clown
I seem to be what I'm not you see
I'm wearing my heart like a crown
Pretending that you're still around
Still around

Good morning  everyone.

Raining out better to deal with that than snow!

A day of rest here...again.I have been having a lot of those lately. No trick or treaters here last night, they would rather go into town as houses are much closer together.

Now the fun of turning all the clocks back.

Bubble love the start page, I have danced many times to the Great Pretender.

summersun, beautiful fall photo.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning, Everyfriend.  Last night stayed up in the mid-forties.  It felt almost warm!

Bubble loved all the new "stuff".  Now we have a nice clean house to start off the month.  Thanks.

Loved the Fall picture too, SUMMERSUN, it makes me feel right at home.

My cleaning lady Frankie) is coming today  She has to do it on her day off...and I suspect, also on the day she needs money.  She's going to do everything except the kitchen and dining room because I'm going to be busy in those two rooms.  I'm starting the Christmas candy making big time today.  I have everything out and ready to go right after breakfast and our morning walk.

I hear the boinger now and that means the day begins.  I hope you all have a happy, healthy, get-well type of day and that you don' forget to share it with us here in the Soda Shoppe.

Good morning everyone, slept late this morning, was light when I opened my eyes. 35 now and rain after noon. Forgot to fill my pill box yesterday and had to do that before I even had my coffee. Just noticed I did not change the clock I have in here so better get to that after I finish here.

JANE  no matter the time if I am sleeping and the phone wakes me I wonder why I don't shut the ringer off before I go to bed. I sure do not like that sound waking me, was bad enough hearing the alarm waking me when I was still working.

PHYLLIS  well we were in the deep freeze and had our first snow of the season and there is only some snow left in the shady places. It was so pretty while it lasted. I have never been  to Kansas but I am a stubborn Conn.Yankee. Guess now I am a R.I. stubborn old lady but I was born in Conn. You are right, Shirley will do as she wants even when she knows she should not.

AMY  my daughter sent me a picture of cookies she made for a Halloween party one of the couples on the ranch where they live and decorated them with those crazy eyes and decorated them more with ugly faces.

SHIRLEY  glad you have enough energy to make yourself something to eat. Have to keep your body nourished to fight that virus. Just wished you weren't alone in your house. Hope your family calls to keep a check on how you are.

AMY  I am supposed to drink 2 Ensure high nutrician every day. Yvette has been making me a shake every day with some Ice cream and 2 containers of Ensure and some extract-vanilla or almond or something else and they taste good.

JANE  darn I was too late and none of those coconut macaroons left. My daug hter and I both love them. Hope you found some good buys at Davy's.

JENNY  the only little ones we see here are the grands of some of the tenants.  They are not to go to doors of anyone else.

PATRICIA  love your animation.

BUBBLE  LOVE YOUR NEW AVATAR. Have not seen you use a frog in a long time, good seeing one. I remember years ago when I thought the wrestlers were hurting each other but my FIL set me right. Thank you for the new page and the goodies.

SUMMERSUN  great graphic and love the tree in your avatar.

JANE  glad you can still make your Christmas goodies. Wish I could do all I used to make and bake like I used to.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Shirley, I'm glad you keep "talking" to us.  I'm truly worried about you being there alone.  I hope the children are checking on you regularly.  I'm glad to know you are eating something and that it tasted good.  That is an encouraging sign.  Right now sleep is the best thing you can do.  Don't worry or even think about anything else.

Thanks for the new page, Bubble.  I loved the Italian chess proverb.  So very true.  At the end of the game we are all the same.

We had absolutely no trick or treaters last night.  I guess parents listened to our governor and had their Halloween celebrations at home.  Thank goodness they had some good sense not to put their little ones in danger.  Our Covid numbers have gone sky high and businesses and schools are being closed down again.

Take care, All.

Another, "made it thru the night........"  Fed cats & fixed myself more hash browns & an egg, 2 pieces of toast (one still waiting to be downed). Don't know why I am so sleepy, no disturbances all night. Tom & Callie slept outside and Tiger opted to sleep in the spare befroom. Callie is laying near, curled in a ball, snoring. She is such a good cat, tries so hard to please but just doesn't know what is expected. She had to have been somebody's pet to have been trained to use those training pads (or anything laying on the floor soft). I am already sleepy, anyone what to help me shoot the nut that thinks we should be changing clocks?  Does that really change day light?

I only have 3 kids but with all the texts you think I had a dozen. They keep track and if any can't reach me immediately they call each other & both boys push sis into calling. When they were little they would go wake her up to see if Santa had come yet. Talked to all 3 last night before I went to bed. We are having the beautiful fall weather wished for.. and I am still grounded for another week!

Bubble, swear that frog looks like me looking in a mirror, how'd you do it?   :-[   Love the red poppies. My mother had some she got from her oldest sister, called them "Anne's Poppies". I had a start at the house we built but they died out. One of these days I will get another start & let them run wild in the berm!

Summer, gorgeous scene.... and if possible I will see those fall colors in another week because I may still head to MO for a night or so, as soon as I am no longer contageous!

Gloria, glad Yvette is helping you keep your weight up. Trust me, I am NOT shrinking. Your shakes sound good & know good for you. She has been such a blessing to you, Mary Poppins in disguise.

I've reheated that cup of coffee 3 times so will heat again, have a sip & go crawl in bed.

Bubble, love your new avatar.  Thanks for "The Great Pretender".  Summersun, loved that picture of the pond with all the leaves on the ground.  Reminded me of when we had a small place at the lake, and I could walk through a scene like that (minus the pond of course). Shirley, keep behaving yourself.  (I strongly recommend you don't go on that excursion to MO) I know you love it, but girlfriend, you don't need to be travelling with all your various ailments.  A time to slow down would be right about now!
All you other ladies, keep taking your "nourishment" in whatever form suits you best. (Unfortunately, I prefer chocolate candy bars LOL; wish I could have gone trick or treating last night and scooped up some! My neighbors used to get a big laugh, because I would dress up and go to their houses; since I was only 5 feet tall, I could look like a kid, but I think I only fooled one of them!
Have a lovely November everyone!

Hello from a sunny, warm (70º!) central Oklahoma,

Shirley,  I'll just say "DITTO" to all the advice about changing your habits.  :smitten:

#1 son/dil still don't have cable or internet so they came over to watch OK State and OU football games yesterday and last night.
Miss Emily and Sir Carson were here for a while but each had "social activities" last night so didn't stick around.

Son/dil brought chicken fingers, chips, dips, a sandwich tray and a fruit tray from grocery store deli.  I put out paper plates.  Easy serve - easy clean-up.

Off to finish reading the paper in my sunny south window.

Onward and Upward....

Callie, mid-seventies sound nice; I don't think we saw that in our past rainy summer!

I was looking through a gift that friends sent me, but I may have to decline. It's a gift subscription service from Blue Bottle that apparently is rated one of the best. While I drink my coffee black and several daily cups, I was mystified by my gift subscription offerings. They offered multiple spices, berries, or flower flavors in different roasts while I normally choose caffeinated dark roast.

Are there any coffee aficionados here to enlighten me? These are good friends, and I hate to hand it back to them. Who knew coffee was as mysterious as wine?

Good Sunday Morning !

I woke up at 8:30 this AM and turned all
my clocks back one hour,  then I went
and layed down and slept until 11:00...

It is an over cast day here on the rocky coast..
weather is cool so more layers are needed
when I go outside.  I don't usually go
out when there is snow or ice on the ground
unless Kelly is out side waiting for me ..

Nobody wants Gramma to fall down and break
something, including Gramma !!

I am holding my breath until after
election day on TUESDAY.. I have already
voted and hope for new beginnings after
the election is over.

I am hoping for a GRAND SLAM
LANDSLIDE to dump rump...
If you get my drift!

My cleaning lady (Frankie) is here and I'm staying out of her way.  I'm a bit tired from all the day's activities anyway.

I have the peanut butter and coconut centers all mixed and getting chilled and ready to make the pb and coc. cups for Christmas.  The stuff is out for one more batch that will be divided into three flavors...peppermint, raspberry and rum.

I also have over a hundred saltines spread with pb and they'll be dipped in chocolate tomorrow and maybe more spread when they're dipped.  Well, that kind of sounded like maybe they won't ever be spread.  They will.  The question is, tomorrow or the next day?  The ones that I'm concentrating on have to be ready to go home with Bethany (my grandniece) when she goes home from college on the 19th of Nov.

And that's just a start....

But it IS a start!

I've just been informed that I've been mistaken all these years due to my Canadian ignorance. While parts of SE Alaska are joined by part of British Columbia and receive the most publicity, most of the Interior is next to Canada's Yukon Territory. We are just to the Northeast of Dawson City. So, since the snow arrived from Northwest of us, it came from the Yukon Territory.

Just stopping by to say "Hello"

Nothing special to add.  I did want to thank Bubble for all the nice new things she added.  So nice of her to make sure we get a new page every month. Glad someone is making sure we all stay together.

I must have missed where Shirley posted that she tested positive for the virus.  Sure hope that she will recover quickly and not have any lasting results.  I am sure her family is keeping close tabs on her.  I am curious as to where she had picked it up.  I know she doesn't  get out that much with other people.  Did she mention anything about where she might have been exposed to it???

Jane, nice that Frankie can come and clean for you.  A big win for both of you.  Helping each other out.  I know you will be busy for a little while making all the candy you make.  I have an easy recipe for a good fudge that you make in the microwave, and I am thinking about making some of it just to have a quick little gift on hand.  Our family has not decided what we are going to do for the holidays.  Thinking about getting a Thanksgiving dinner already fixed from a local restaurant thst we all like. I am just not up to cooking any kind of a big meal anymore.

I am noticing that is almost 5 p,m and it almost is dark. I just hate when it gets dark so early.  Makes for such a long night. Wish they would leave the time alone.  I like the long evenings.

Hope everyone will have a nice evening.

Joy

Joy, just buzzing through & see the question. Best thing I can think of is at one medical office I noticed AFTER being at others, the one had not been spraying disinfecting as much as the others. I do suspect that place but sure wouldn't want to accuse or might get sued!

This devil disease has new tortures every few hours from cotton mouth to burning skin. Look at food wrong & the tummy tries to gag. All of a sudden a 2x4 across the head. Fever, chills... I am taking a 325 Bayer twice a day (Dr thinks that is good from what he hears)... I do monitor my oxygen level since it was the reason to have visited that one place. Besides Covid, I am battling the end of allergy season & the sinus infection that comes with. The driving knee is not letting up but am able to tolerate a little better.

Now all of you in here remember the characters Carol Burnett played... with the shabby baggy clothes ... that's me. I do have to shower & wash my hair & try to take the yuck out of my wardrobe.  I have a full length mirror at the end of the hall so get a good look at me every time I flip the light on. Thank goodness cats can't use a camera!

I still don't have all the clocks reset... don't think it will change the time the sun comes up so who cares?  I'm good for a few hours & body gives out & back to bed. So far, so good. This is an experiment to see how tough we really are & I am ready to yell "UNCLE" but won't do any good.

SHIRLEY, you are amazing!  I think if that bug had bit me, I'd be a lot less active and alert than you are.  I'd probably just collapse and lie there until it decided to pass over me!

Now I'm suffering the effects of this dratted time change!  I can hardly keep my eyes open so Mickie and I are going to hit the haystack and try again tomorrow.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, get-better tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Vanilla-Jackie I Have only one answer that works for me. you will have to speak for your self, it is called LOVE. I have reach deeper in my pockets, and have ben known to borrow $$$$ when I did not have them to help someone else when food was short on our own table. I was the oldest of three boy's. I was 6 years old when My farther was murdered. to help put food on our table I mowed yards delivered grocery's and papers around the small town we lived in at the time. we mom an I tilled up early in the spring part of our yard with a shovel to raise a garden to help feed us. mom after the war was over and she got laid off at prat and whiteys plant. she was a drillpress operator there. on airplane engines. she got a job at a sowing factory, folding and peening shirts and boxing them for shipment. she was top folder she folded 48 dozen shirts in a normal day. then she came home made and put supper on the table, after supper she went down to the local store and clerked and closed it up for the day and took the money by to the owner. so I have ben no stranger to work all my life. jack and master of none. this is enough sad story for today. i could not sleep good  so I am going to go see I f I can fiend a good Movie and see if it will put me back to sleep.

Good morning

What a windy morning it is!! Power is flickering off and on.
Dentist this morning, we have  put this appointment off due to the pandemic but will follow through this morning.

No sure if Kyle will be going with me as he has thrown his back out and sitting in the vehicle  may bother it more. If this wind doesn't die down I may not be going either!!Bad enough looking our for deer let alone falling trees or tree limbs!

Patricia, we drove through the Yukon ,stopping at Watson Lake to leave our sign "The Honeymooners at sign city then headed over to Haines Junction for a visit. After that we left our trailer at Carcross and just drove into Skagway Alaska for a visit. Cold wind is cold wind no matter where it comes from, sometimes called a lazy wind, rather go through you than around you.

Lloyd , you are one I would want in my corner , you are resourceful and can turn your hand at any job. Our neighbour is another one that can do that. They don't have any cattle or hens now but like everyone else keep busy with Dr appointments.

Think the wind has died down some....can't hear it as before..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Windy here, too, but no big limbs or trees down this time....at least, not so far.  It is cold.  Temp. was 37 when I got up and for us that is COLD!  Bright sun is helping keep the spirits up and the heat pump is working nicely so all is well.

Shirley, thanks for talking to us so that we know you are still hanging on.  I know you are feeling miserable right now and I'm so sorry.  Forget the clocks and forget everything else except just taking care of yourself.

I made breaded pork chops yesterday for dinner.  I did them the old-fashioned way, in a skillet on top of the stove.  No Instant Pot, no air fryer, no fancy appliance at all.  They were so good.  Sometimes the old way is the best way.

Take care, stay safe.

Shirley,  thank you for getting back to my question so quick.  I just am so sorry you are having to deal with this "devil" virus.  Sounds like it is not a pleasant feeling.  Please take extra care of yourself and get alot of rest.  It is just not like you to be talking about not feeling well.  You are always so strong and on the go all the time.  Maybe, "someone" is reminding you to slow down a little bit.  It sounds like maybe you are right to "suspect" the doctor's office that you were in.  But, I guess it could have been anyplace.  Whatever the cause, I just pray that you will feel better soon, and back to your "ole" self.  I know you are still hoping to take another short trip.

I am in a hurry this morning.  Need to get myself moving along. Today is "hair appt" day.

Please stay safe and try to have a pleasant day.

Sandy, it has bothered me that nobody objected to the political comment you made "I am hoping for a GRAND SLAM LANDSLIDE to dump rump... "

So I decided it is my responsibility to offer a thought to the other point of view. If "rump" isn't around to handle MY money there is no law that says I have to keep it in a bank! I can pull it all out, I don't need the interest anyway, so why share? If enough of us that saved for our golden years decide to sit on our money the government won't have enough tax money to cover all those promises. Not a threat but idea of how to hang onto what we did without to save. I may not singly close a bank, but if enough of us decided what is ours is not their's.... My million plus is in 3 different financial institutions and when those CDs roll around I can put my hand out for cash and live on it. Your joy comes on the back of my feeling of doom, for a way of life most the the immigrants left their homelands to escape. I admit I feel bad enouth this morning that nothing scares me. :poke: I don't visit political areas but was here.

Thank you, Joy & Phyllis, must admit this is a bad morning & I am totally down.  As the saying goes, "this, too, will pass".......

Good morning eveyone, slept late again, woke at almost 8. At least I do feel awake now.

PHYLLIS  our governor kept saying no more than 5 for Thanksgiving but now says 10 if all close family.

SHIRLEY  just keep checking in here so we do not worry so much about you. We worry about you and all the dangerous things you can get into. Go get some sleep, it is good for you. Yes I am so lucky to have Yvette 5 days a week.

AMY  you are right, everyday Shirley has to stay hime is a punishment for her. No trip to her mountains in Colorado this year and now no trip to Mo. for foliage. That is the worse thing to happen to her because of the virus.

TOME  I could live on chocolate, all kinds of it.

AMY  every time you mention  the chocolate factory I want to go with you.

PATRICIA  39 here with bright sunshine.

LLOYD  you said it right about the time change. Screw loose or someone who  thought he could do better than GOD.

AMY  windy here today, too. Interesting link. will check it more when I finish here.

Have a good day and be safe.

I'm very late getting in here today.  I slept well and woke up ready for the day.  Then I picked up my cell phone to check the weather and it said "Hello" to me in about 40 different languages.  That was the start of the frustration!  It had done an update overnight and was asking me for all kinds of information I don't have.

I went to my land line to ask my kids some questions and discovered that the only one I have on my land line is my DIL.  I called,  She answered!  She passed the phone over to my son and he said he'd stop by and see what he could do after he dropped my gdaughter at school.  He did and I'm back in business.  But the frustration made me busy and I finished all the candy cup centers while I waited.

Also got the kitchen cleaned up and in shape to be a candy mill for the next few weeks.  After he left, I took Mickie for a walk and now I'm ready to go.  I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way.  And don't forget to share!

Well, the weather did turn up nice.other than the wind but the snow has stopped.

Jane, walked into Walmart and there on the left hand side were jars, LOTS of pint jars to be had!

Made my trip quick as Kyle's back  is giving him grief..waiting on a cancelation  today if not then on Thur he will go. On the bright side at least we take turns with being not well.

I put the snow tires in the vehicle and they will be put on tomorrow..

Friends are coming down later to pick up items I bought for them and she is bringing down our Royal Gala apples. Can you see pie , muffins, applesauce etc...

Good morning from an Interior that is darn cold at minus 22° Nothing to do around here except for actually doing some items I've put off!

Amy, I hadn't heard of the signpost forest! That must be an interesting visit, especially for traveling aficionados! I looked at several of the videos and information, and it is definitely similar to the country we have locally. We are located, Northeast, 902 miles, or 1452 kilometers by the Alaska Highway from Dawson City. And we are 640 miles or 1030 kilometers from Haines. It is probably why I feel at home in Canada and like a foreigner in the lower forty-eight states.

Did you know that many SE Alaskans sent their children to Canadian schools in the panhandle because they were closer? That lasted until the early seventies, I believe. There are so many similarities between Alaska and Canada, or at least Western Canada! You are right about the wind and cold weather, and we seem to be diving in the deep end!

This was another frustrating morning. I set up my coffee and then realized I had forgotten to turn it on, two days in a row now that I've done that!  ::)  Further, on that subject, I declined the earlier offer of a coffee subscription from my friends. I have no idea what type of spices, fruits, or berries I prefer in my coffee.

On the time change subject, many here have another frustration. Years ago, there were four time zones in Alaska's 663,300 square miles. Some businessmen wanted to make it easy on themselves doing business with the states and lobbied for a single statewide time zone similar to Washington state. Unfortunately, it went through, and it has been a contradiction between what the clock says and what nature shows ever since! And I'm sure that the changes in time zones in the states probably have to do with business reasons.

Good Morning...if I type fast!  Otherwise, an early Good Afternoon.

Re: time zones.  When husband's grandmother came from Tupelo, MS to visit family in Amarillo, TX she asked "Doesn't it ever get dark out here?"  We checked and, sure enough, there's an hour's difference between sunset times in MS and the TX panhandle.

My trip to Alaska was a cruise to Skagway - then by "coach" ("bus" with bathroom  ;)) to Whitehorse Yukon Territory, along the Alaskan Highway through Tok to Fairbanks and then to Anchorage from where we flew back.
This was the summer of 2004 and fires were raging.  We could just barely see the midnight sun through the smoke in Fairbanks and some of the city was evacuated the day we left. One of my trip scrapbook pages has the headline for June 28 that reads "Wildfires Smoke Out Fairbanks".

Neither could we see Mt. McKinley during our overnight in Denali.  However, we did see 4 of the Five Big Ones (grizzly, Dall sheep, moose and caribou).  Friend and I weren't able to take a helicopter ride to see it while in Anchorage, either.

It's a lovely day in central Oklahoma.  Sweatshirt was enough to wear to bank and KwiK Kar, where I was the only customer.  :)  Had intended to get car "winterized" last week but - obviously - wasn't able to do that.

Off to fill bird feeders and "think about" pulling mums out of planters.  All the perennials popped back up and are blooming after the HIS (Historic Ice Storm).

Onward and Upward...

Patricia, we loved the Yukon...said if we were younger we would likely settle down there. The signs were from all over the world ,any shape size  and lots of them. One  ,a bedpan signed by the nurses , if I remember correctly was from Australia!!  Interesting to read the signs but one could not do it in one day....

Callie, we have a photo taken in the Yukon at a camp site....10:30 pm and it was just like day light. Sure couldn't sneak behind a tree if the need be!!

I believe we have beautiful country all over this world...one just has to appreciate their surroundings.

HELLO EVERYFRIEND.....from a beautiful sunshiny day in the Mile High City!

We are to enjoy another week of beautiful weather before the next storm is to arrive.  Our last snow helped the firefighters immensely and we are all so very great full🙏  The videos on TV of the burned out homes is so sad to see.  Many of us are feeling the burden of the pandemic and the political times right now but if we just take a moment to think about the folks that have lost their lives/livelihood in fires and storm damage, we should all count our blessings and pray for all🙏

AMY, sorry Kyle is not doing well.  I do hope he is able to get in to see someone and get some help.  Was your hand surgery for carpal tunnel or something else?  I am having a terrible time with my dominant hand....I have a trigger finger, but am thinking now there might be more to it than just that.  My hands ache in general from arthritis but now this is causing me even more pain.  I should probably go and have it looked at, but like many are doing right now, I keep putting it off due to Covid.  I do hope your hand is healing well and you can start to do more and more with it.  LOL, of course the canning jars will now show up after everyone is pretty much done with the canning😩

PATRICIA, it seems you are feeling much better now?  I do hope so.  Burrr, I am sorry you are having those low temps.  You sure were cheated out of any kind of summer it seems, so I bet a 70 degree days sounds VERY good to you!

SHIRLEY, thank you for keeping us posted on how you are doing.....as bad as you are feeling, I am amazed that you are doing extremely well at taking good care of yourself!  I hope you can continue to keep up your strength and get that terrible bug out of your system 🙏🙏

LLOYD, I enjoyed your story about how YOU had to survive as a young boy..... we came from times when we HAD to step up and take care of ourselves and our families and we did WHAT EVER it took to get by.  That is one thing we can all be proud of from our back generations.  We did not expect hand outs nor did we ask for them and that is why we can and will get through the rest of our lives with knowing that we CAN and WILL get by🙏🙏 I did not mean to preach to you.....I more meant it as a compliment to you of how well you have done.  We learned to help our neighbors when in time of need.....non of this expecting someone else to take care of us😘

WOW, I am kind of tired after getting up on my soap box!  Guess I will tell you all to have a good rest of your day and I am going to go get SOMETHING done😘

Jenny

A Way with Words

James Nicoll, a book reviewer, once said:

The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.

It was a cold. blustery day today.  The wind went right though you when you were out in it.  It's still a tad windy out there and pretty cold.

After my frustration this morning, the rest of the day went pretty well.  I managed to get about 2/3of the candy for my sister, niece and nephew and their families done.

Tomorrow I have 2 dr appointments beginning at 11 a.m. and while I'm out, I might make a quick trip to WM to pick up the stuff for fruit cake.  We put out an announcement, asking if people at the church were still interested in getting it for Christmas and I've got nine takers so I'll be making that one of these days.

Now I'm going to hit the haystack.  I've slept well the last 3 nights and I'm hoping for another one tonight.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better day tomorrow.  And may God bless us every one!

well this S & F sight is is the best. I agree leave politicks out of here. there is too much on our TV and radios. a old man once said only elect them for one turrum, they will do pretty well what  they say first time, but learn how to hook and crook do not give them a second chance, AMY I  thank you an others for the flowers, but go easy I could get a swelled head. I think we all should treat our neighbors like would like to be treated, and I try, I be lave that is what God wants us to do.

I like this sayin  and use it some what,  ( there is so much good in the worst of us. and so much bad in the best of us. that it behooves those of us to talk about the rest of us. but we will any way.

there is nothing wrong with this world, it us people in it. I have a life time friend that takes no pill s at all, a doctor he seen one time gave him a script once and a few pills of it, he went home and carried them in his pocket for a while then through them away. next time he went back he told the doctor what he had done and said un less I get very sick i will not come back. that was several years ago. He is doing fine, I take a hand full of pile every Morning and a half hand full ever nigh + shot for diabetes.
But I can't work up the nerve, so I just let VA keep scribing them and you tax payers pay for them. Thanks. good night and sweet dreams.

Good morning..

Batten down the hatches as it is windy out there. Last night we had snow along with freezing rain. Today our snow tires go on, just in time I would say. Will pick up a few things at the
grocery store and  cook up some food for the dogs. There is a small turkey in the freezer that  will go in the oven and it can cook while I am doing the tires exchange.

Gloria, oh boy do I have apples!! Can't peel them just yet but a good wash and core them will be baked apples for dessert! Better pick up some vanilla ice cream too!

Jenny, no it wasn't carpel ...I do get the stitches out next week and hope the all clear is given. Dr said let your body dictate how you use the hand and boy it is bossy at times. Had to look up trigger finger and it can't be comfortable. Hope you get some answers for your problem in your hand.

Jane, that is a good days work and a LOT of work! That is a lot of takers for Christmas cake but I bet you get more once the word gets out as they are delicious!!

Patricia, I can't wait to hear your weather as ours is blustery ,flag flying straight out with a temp of 22° at the moment.

Phyllis, sometimes the "old way" is still the best way. I have an old cast iron pan that is my fall back pan. Makes hash brown potatoes the best!

Lloyd, when I was on jury duty, an older gentleman had a saying that he used rather often. Those that matter don't mind and those that mind...........don't matter.

BUBBLE that is great news!! I am apprehensive on  getting this shot and  lots of research will have to be done before I do get it. This is a blessing if it works and does its job!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The wind isn't as bad this morning as I was yesterday!  Thank goodness for that.  And the rain has stopped!  It's supposed to be in the low 40s and sunny today.  I can take that!

I have two appointments at the clinic today....on for blood work and one to check my blood pressure.  It was higher than they wanted it to be when I was in the last time.  I don't know what they expect.  I suffer from "white coat syndrome" and it's going to be up every time I have to have it checked in there!

As soon as the boinger goes off, the day begins.  I'll be on the move and probably won't have a chance to check in here until late afternoon.

AMY, I'm not getting the snow tires on this year. I'm just going to stay home!

JENNY, if you mean by "trigger finger" that one finger bends in toward your hand, I've had that surgery.  The surgery is not bad at all but you have to keep up with the recommended exercises after the surgery.  Mine was my little finger on my left hand and I managed to get it to the place where I can type with it just as I did before the surgery.  And that was my major goal.

The boinger has gone off and I have to get going.  I wish you all a special day.  Make it your own in every way.  And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda Shoppe!

Good morning Amy, Jane, Bubble and Jackie

Nice to see all of you. I am just marking my place and letting you know that I am still "alive and kickin' "  LOL

Bubble, I guess that is good news,  I am not going to be to quick on getting the vaccine until I hear the news that it is really safe.  I think it will be a while.

Shirley, I sure hope that you are starting to feel better.  We are all worried about you.  You are the first person that I
"know" that has had the virus. Just rest and get well.

Jane, hope you got a good start on your Christmas candy making.

Need to get some breakfast and then settle down and read for a while.  I am sure it is going to be a very interesting evening,
A very long one, I am sure of.

Enjoy your day.

It is a beautiful morning here but cold.  We had freeze warnings up for overnight but since I don't garden anymore I didn't have to cover or bring anything in.  I didn't even hang ferns on the porch this year.  Too hard to reach up to water them.  I missed them but physical restrictions make life what it is.  However, I enjoy looking at my neighbor's ferns across the street.

I hope we hear from Shirley today.  And that she is feeling better.

So many countries and companies working on a vaccine for Covid 19.  We will have it eventually but it will take awhile to find a safe vaccine and then a while longer to produce enough quantity to get it to the public.  I've read that once they get through all of that they will vaccinate "first responders" first and I am all for that and then "high risk" groups and so on.  It will take a long time, I think, but it will happen.

A friend brought a large bag of apples from the mountains to me the other day and I made applesauce.  It is so good....I just wish it would last longer but we are really enjoying that sweet, fresh flavor.

Take care, All

Snow tires are on and all set for whatever winter throws at us. Their display room was full of tires all sizes and makes ready for winter  wear.

Jane, here we get a discount for having snow tires on...plus it may help one from spitting around like a button on an outhouse door. Sadly I have the same syndrome and when in surgery they told me to get  my Dr to check my bp. Of course with white coat and the fact  the anesthesiologist tried 4 times to get the needle in to put be out didn't help matters. Wanted to tell him in baseball  3 strikes and you're out......but he held the needle!!

Good morning from an unseasonally cold Interior at minus twenty-two! I dread going out today, but needs must, and unfortunately, none of what I need will be right outside my door! We're supposed to begin warming up again on Thursday, but I can only hope that the current weather will be an anomaly this winter.

I'm not a fan of hospitals for many reasons, but chief among them is that I have no oxygen in my platelets and 90/60 for low blood pressure. To get blood out of me is a process, and I'm not allowed to donate blood due to lack of oxygen. Another fun fact is that I tend to wake up under anesthesia.

Believe me, that fact is noted in every medical record I can find and verbally reiterated to each operating doctor and anesthesiologist. One time, the physician actually rolled his eyes when I firmly explained but later admitted they had to stop and put me back under four times!

My friend says I don't want to miss anything! However, I tend to have opposite reactions to many drugs, such as sleeping pills, keeping me up for one. It's one reason I'm not fond of taking too many pills and try to get along without them. My father was the same way as is one of my nephews, so it's genetic.

Speaking of genetics, those DNA commercial kits that everyone's taking? It all depends on how large a bank of tests they have to draw on and match yours with when you send it in. It's one reason why they will often send you updates as they get more worldwide information. I saw a YouTube video about it, and if you read the small print and disclaimers on the boxes, all they can tell you for certain is from which continent your DNA originated. But it's great entertainment, and mine confirmed what has been passed down in my family.

Bubble, that is good news, especially as immunities don't seem to last, and some are getting reinfected. I've read that they don't expect to get a handle on the virus and new normality until 2024. What that new normality will be, who knows. Remember that ancient curse that states, "May you live in interesting times?" I'd like to know what we did!

I, too, wait to hear each day from Shirley and hope this will be a mild case for her.

I saw a YouTube video last night that made me very sorry for the cat. There it was trying to sleep, and an African Gray parrot was hassling it, pulling out hairs and poking the cat with its leg. The final straw was when the parrot got very close and peered right into the cat's eye. I knew just how that cat felt!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOpS4qGILyY

Another sunny warm day in Central Oklahoma.  Certainly a 180º change from this time last week. Sounds as if you in the east are getting the "left-overs" of what we had.  Hope you don't have the tree damage this area did.

I am "needle phobic" and only learned a few years ago not to feel as if I would pass out when lab tech takes blood for those multiple tests.  I still hide my eyes and grit my teeth. If the tech tries to "visit" while she's working - I tell her I'll be nice when the needle is out of my arm.

However, my blood pressure is actually lower at the dentist's office. Go figure!!!! Don't mind the "maintenance" work at all and, if I need a filling, he numbs the gum before deadening the area.  Wish the m.d. did that.

I've put off finding the "round tuit" for several Domestic Duties.  Guess I'd better get busy or laundry/dishes will have to be done again immediately.

Amy, that was great! Both parents were lucky to grow up on farms during the depression, so at least food was there as not much else was! The only trouble with YouTube is all those little side trips with other videos.

Callie, I'm fine after that first jab and as long as I don't watch. My daughter would pay close attention and pepper the tech with questions! She must have gotten that from her paternal side.

Patricia, I bet that dish tasted good despite the simplicity of it.

Yay!! Kyle got a 5.00 pm appointment at the chiropractors today!

Amy, I like onions, and my mother always fried onions and potatoes, w/o meat as a regular side dish. However, I don't know as she discovered that combination while growing up during the depression. Anything with those two vegetables would be good!

We're having what is often referred to here as ice fog because it's cold enough that car exhaust mixes with other chemicals in the air and freezes, causing dense fog. Today, in my Word a Day email, I discovered this word, originally from the Shoshone. Pogonip, MEANING:
noun: A dense winter fog having ice particles.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Shoshone paγinappih (cloud). Earliest documented use: 1860.

USAGE:
"The valley floor is covered with a blanket of snow, the trees glisten with the shimmering ice crystals of pogonip and the holiday season is almost over."

Patricia, onions enhance any dish..Kyle can only eat them cooked but I like a green onion in a crust of bread that has been buttered and some salt.. a lady I worked for got me into that deal!

Now I have learnt something .didn't know about ice fog.......you are going to have to call out the fog plows!! :2funny:

I mentioned that to one person and they said "you have plows for that?"

Aside from the fact that I got the rest of the crackers spread, the day was a bit of a bust.  I got all cleaned up, dressed and ready to go to the dr. for the tests and blood work and the car wouldn't start.  I didn't have time to get someone here to get it started so I called and they rescheduled for tomorrow.

My son is coming in the morning with jumper cables and hopefully I'll get that chore done tomorrow.  I guess the car decided it likes sitting around waiting better than going.  I hope it's not planning to make a habit of that.  Maybe it heard me say I'd just stay home in the winter.

I'm all set up to dip the rest of the crackers in the morning and then Thursday, I'll start on the candy cups.  I always do the coconut ones first because they're the hardest ones to do.  Also, I can eat some of them while I do the rest.

I hope Shirley is feeling better.  I see she didn't post today.

JOY, nice to hear from you.

Phyllis, AMY, Patricia enjoy your day.  Patricia, I think I'm glad I don't live where you do.  That "air ice" doesn't sound so good.

LLOYD, keep on getting your rest and feeling better.  Tell Nancy I said Hello to her.  I so enjoyed meeting both of you when you were here.

I'm going to hit the haystack again.  Lately it's been full of zzzzs and that's good.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, stay-warm tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I am here & sorry I didn't post yesterday, been keeping my kids up on how this goes and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Every few hours a new type of torture. Remember those early mornings when pregnant & slight move would bring on the heaves? My ribs are sore from dry heaves. I managed a couple bites of oatmeal & toast but time to crawl back in bed. We can do this!

My cats owe their lives to a doctor willing to let me do this at home and I'm sure he has had uneasy times wondering if it would work. The challenge now it getting enough fluid & nourishment into the body so not over yet. Terrifies me to think there might be another version of the virus to attack again. Not sure I could handle it.

Good morning everyone. Seems like all I did yesterday was sleep till Yvette came. Got my coffee and turned on the TV and the PC and then laid on the couch and the phone woke me. It was noon and she was calling from downstairs. Surprsed I slept last night but feel wide awake. Could be I am bored with no social activity in this place anymore.

BUBBLE  let's all pray that  test with the covid vaccine works and the world can wipe out the virus.

AMY  the last carpal tunnel I had the surgeon also fixed the trigger finger I had on that hand. That was more than 8 years ago now and both hands are doing good.

PHYLLIS  my older son brought me a half bushel of apples last week, plans for today are to make another apple crisp and them make applesauce with the rest of them.

PATRICIA  I am the opposite of you, every time I am sedated, even earkly in t he morning I do not wake up till the next day. I am now scared of being sedated.

SHIRLEY  you are one brave lady to stay  home alone while so sick. I could not do what you are doing feeling like you do and still cooking and taking care of the cats. You are  in my prayers.

Have a  good day and stay safe.

So glad to see a post from Shirley but still worried about her.  Fingers crossed and praying that you take a turn for the better soon, Shirley.

Really tired today.   Late, late night.  Probably I will do a lot of snoozing throughout the day.

Take care, All.

Good morning from another cold morning in the Interior at minus twenty-six. I'm hoping it warms up on Thursday as promised. Unfortunately, I have to go out today and run some errands, but it will be a swift trip!

Shirley, we're all glad to hear from you each day, even if it's a quick hello! You can do this!

Gloria, I, and others in my family tend to react in opposite ways than intended to drugs, which is one reason I try to avoid them if I'm able.  I have trouble sleeping, so I might enjoy a seven to ten-hour sleep. However, I'd probably then be awake for the next three nights. Even with strong drugs, it's hard to put me under.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm glad to see so many of you there...especially you, SHIRLEY!  I hope it's time for your turnaround and you soon head for "WELL"!  I wish there was some way to help you other than prayers!

I've been up to my eyeballs in chocolate this morning.  I got everything ready to dip the rest of the crackers before I went to bed last night and plugged it in right away this morning.  I'm finished with the crackers that have to be mailed now and I did 4 Santa lollypops for Emma!  Everything is cleaned up and as soon as Cooper gets here, I'll get my shower and get ready to go to the dr appointments....AGAIN!

After the appts. I'm considering a stop at the store to get what I need to make fruitcake and also more Christmas bags to pack candy.  I might and I might not!

I hope you are all in the middle of a great day!  Or at least a good one!  And I hope some of you are feeling better every minute but it sure doesn't sound like you are, SHIRLEY!  You sure are brave to do this alone!  I sure hope those kitties appreciate you!

Nice to see a message from Shirley.  Glad you feel good enough to be in touch with us.  You still don't sound all that great, and I am still concerned about you.  Make sure you get enough fluids and rest. Have you been keeping in touch with the doctor ?  I hope so.  He should know how you are feeling, especially with the stomach upsets .

I was up late and then have been watching the tv most of the day.  It sure is becoming a real mess !!!!

It has been a real sleepy day.  Supposed to be a lot warmer by the end of the week.  Maybe I will make myself go sit out in the sunshine later in the week. Maybe that will help me feel better.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Our day went well. Both Babe and hubby look spiffy with their hair cuts. Day turned out amazing, temps in the  70,s  and a sunny day.

Shirley, good to hear from you  ,I still think the Boost or Ensure just no cream or milk would help you...ask your Dr what he thinks about it. If anyone can get through this it is certainly YOU!!

Jane, how is the candy factory doing? I do know what you make is delicious! I picked up some crackers to make you on one covered in chocolate when I get to it.

Good Afternoon everyone! I'm back from all my appointments and have good news and bad. Depending on the area of town I was in, the temperature ranged from minus 26 to minus seventeen to minus twenty-two and then thirty below.

Going west or north is always colder than the other two directions due to the rivers, ponds, and creeks. Thursday is supposed to be one degree for both highs and lows and Friday is six to eight inches of snow. Such is life in the Arctic.

I visited the doctor's nurse and we agreed to get it over with and I'll be starting my trial of limited foods on the fifteenth and finishing on the fifteenth of December. We already know about canned goods, chocolate, and raisins. They're pretty sure of what food caused my latest blip. Would you believe bananas?

Evidently, the food has a protein that irritates some lactose-intolerant people and I had previously purchased a large bunch. The dates of illness coincided with the bananas. They're going to be slowly reintroducing foods after the trial is over to see if I have any reactions. The nurse said one way to look at it is I will be very healthy on only fresh or frozen foods, coffee, and water and have better skin. Not a big or even mini deal in the scheme of things considering the 90,000 new COVID-19 cases reported on election day and Shirley's case.

At the store, all anyone could talk about was higher prices. Eggs, cheese, milk, and meat all were noticeably increased. A neat trick with so many people suffering or out of work. An organic bread I like had gone from 3.49 to 6.99! All the bread had gone up except for the store brand which was all 2.99. Hmmm. Fruit and meats were repriced as well.

When I returned home, there were maintenance guys dressed in plastic with tanks on their back, spraying antiseptic on the walls and hallways. Not good, but people still in public areas without masks.

Patricia,my gosh that is cold! Are these normal temps for this time of year?

Will you just eat wild game and meat that you know that doesn't have chemicals?

What we take for granted each day e.g. eating can cause others so much grief.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for November 1, 2020

Amy, basic meat doesn't seem to be an issue, but my friend Claire is bringing over some game for my freezer and some homemade noodles. It's chemically processed food and drinks that are the problem. My body doesn't deal with chemicals very well.

The cold temperatures we've had this week are common in January and February and are unexpected at the beginning of winter. However, this whole year weatherwise has been just as record-breaking and unbelievable as the rest. Someone should make hats and shirts saying, "I survived 2020!".

The car didn't let me down today but I think it was AMY who said I might need to start it up daily and let it run for a bit.  I'd already thought of that and I'm putting it on my schedule.

I got some very good news at the dr.  My blood pressure is better than it's been in a long time.  I guess what I'm doing (or not doing) is working. My new dr. had his nurse call to tell me he was happy with the results.  I still haven't seen him but I've heard from him.

Tomorrow, I'm going to make candy centers.  Cooper won't be here so I don't need to be careful about a little nose on the table.  My plan is to get all the coconut ones made into little balls.  That'll take a while!  But I'll break it up with doggie walks.

AMY are you going to make your own candy this year?  That's what it sounds like.

We had an absolutely gorgeous day today.  The temps got into the low 70s and the sun was shining!  I didn't want to come in and neither did the doggies.  I know now why I never moved to Alaska.  I sure couldn't take those low temps!  We've had some below 0's over the years but they don't last long.  Thank goodness!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  It's been loaded with zzzzzs the last few nights and it sure feels good to wake up and see that I've slept 6 hours or more!  I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

Clear  cool morning with a temp of 44° but going up near the 70's again today!! Going into town to pick up some wood then home to get hopefully caught up on some chores. Need to cut the meat off the turkey bag and freeze it is first on the list. Just had a robo call,, telling them to get stuffed fell on deaf ears though :(

Babe is so silky soft and shiny coat..I had a coupon for 20 % off but when I cashed through they also gave me a 25% off. That was a surprise!! We always ask for the same girl as she understands Babe and her funny way at getting her nails done.

Jane, I am just making your crackers  as we really enjoy them!!I even bought a box of Ritz crackers to try them along with the soda crackers.

Sandy, I don't think any of us will forget this year . This is the first time that even the gardens failed..

Joy, we had a lovely warm day yesterday and we are to have the same through to the weekend. Wouldn't mind till the end of March but that is wishful thinking.

Gloria, last night I was awake around 2 had a glass of milk went back to bed but I am thinking a nap may be in order later today.

Shirley, prayers you are feeling better and kicking this crap in the butt!!!

Better get to work......

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning to you, SANDY" since you're the only one to come by since I said good night last night.

I'm up and attem and ready for the coconut candy centers.  A soon as the boinger goes and we have our breakfast and a walk, I'll get started.  Since my hands will be pretty messy and in gloves most of the day, I probably won't get back in until I have them all rolled. And if it goes well, I might even start dipping!

I hope you all have a great, fee-better, feel-good day!  Make it your own in evry way and don't forget to share.  I want lots to read when I get back.

P.S.  Good Morning Amy..Sounds like you have your day all planned!

Good Morning Everyone from the
very pleasant and sunny rocky coast
of Maine.

Hi back at you Jane!

It looks like our weather is going
to be like this for the next few
days,  so if I want to enjoy it,
I need to go out and take advantage
of it,  while I still can.

When there is ice and snow on the
ground,  going out is not an
option unless it is to get in my
daughters car to get my INR checked.

Otherwise,  all is well here.

Enjoy

Turkey is all picked apart and put into bags for meals for the dogs, bones have been boiled and meat picked off for soup later. Hot tub has been emptied , cleaned and now refilling. When we came home the garage door wouldn't shut so a call to the folks  that installed it and information given back and forth had the door running proper again.

I was going to pick up romaine lettuce but wow...it was 2.99 and is now 6.49 :yikes: Needless to say it did stay in the store!

Refrigerator scramble for supper tonight.

Sandy, our weather is just perfect!!  We have no fire on and the sweatshirt I am wearing is just too much.

A note from the walking dead.......  open heart surgery was a piece of cake compared with this special version of torture. Covid hits everyone differently from all I hear and I got a taste of it all. This morning I had my first meal, scrambled egg, fresh hash browns, piece of toast & cup of coffee.. & headed straight to bed, wore me out. I am doing good to stay awake even a few hours & spend most of it sitting on the edge of the bed thinking. It is like somebody turned off a switch & I go to sleep, will take time to gain strength back.

My first wish is that everyone will let me explain and apologize to Sandy for blowing off like I did. Her comment caught me when I really wanted to cry because even some of my own family felt the way she did. All of a sudden I find I am responsible for keeping Cas' world intact (including the cats) and I'm losing ground!

My husband grew up in the poorest conditions imaginable and every step of the way watched to see how to improve himself. He had the most conniving, self centered mother ever born and until the day she died, made sure he understood that "he owed her". All his life he watched and polished his social skills and did whatever it took to improve himself. He managed to have heads of companies admire what a dresser he was (their wives told me). He was frugal (understatement) but the kids & I knew what drove him. When our youngest started school I started doing art shows & we had "fun money". The kids worked their way through college & all have been blessed with great jobs, 2 retired & still going strong.

The evening he came to me with the spreadsheet of what we owned, still brings tears to my eyes, "we have a million in the bank", not including house, cars & absolutely NO debt. He was pushed into early retirement at 58 so that was a shock. The company he worked for went bankrupt the year after he retired & that put us in limbo for several years. He still did it. It has been 7 years since he died and so far the money is intact, actually a few dollars ahead.

But you can see where where I'm going, that money belongs to our kids, it's their college fund, they all helped their kids in college, have no hard feelings about how hard life was. Trump did pull the economy up in my mind and I hope to make sure the kids that did without get it before someone else. We don't know what is ahead but I am not going to roll over CDs, the money can go into a money market account that doesn't earn much but more liquid. (Nobody manages money for me, so can't afford to screw up).

So I am sorry for causing all this uproar and sorry I haven't had the strength to come explain. We had always been on different sides of the fence, Sandy, but I'm betting you & I are more alike that you know. I can think of a couple Democratic presidents I really liked, old Harry Truman and sweet Jimmy Carter. I'm glad we have a democracy and can vote.

My understanding with Cas was because I had the best parents in the world and I never doubted for one minute that they loved me and even though we didn't have a lot of money, neither did most of my friends. Sedalia was a "railroad town" and most fathers worked for the MoPac Shops. One of my best friends from 1st grade on had Kennedy connections, not silver spoon but gold... and the most miserable person I ever knew. Money was never that important to me, it just did not make people happy. But it was Cas' legacy and I hope to pass it on for his sake.

Thank you all for letting me blabber on. Maybe I'm still sick??? ;)

Good midmorning! We have risen to a full minus 11, so I'm feeling better. And tomorrow is supposed to start a seven day run of snow and temperatures in the plus thirties, so that's better than the past couple of days.

One point I wanted to clarify. This state has four separate geographical, thermal, and climate regions or zones, which means each zone can have wildly different weather. For example, the Southeast is in the same zone as Washington and Oregon, with Ketchican, AK having the most annual rainfall of all fifty states.

The Interior has low humidity; yesterday, we had 6% humidity, and it takes humidity & moisture to warm up enough to snow. It follows that the arctic region's lack of humidity is a dry climate and dry climate temperatures are warmer than those same temperatures in a more humid or wet climate. An example is our twenty below is to me, like a day in Tennesse's 40 degrees pouring rain. So, many of you see our frigid temperatures from a wet climate perspective if that makes sense?

Shirley, this will get better. Please rest as needed and try to eat when and how you can. We're all pulling for you to make a complete Covid recovery!

Shirley, it is good to "see" I hope you are recording all this down for your Dr and family to read.

Patricia, no snow please. :)) I met a man from TX and while I was complaining how hot it was here........he said he had to dress warmer than when he would have in TX !!

One thing about weather give it five minutes and it changes..

Lloyd.........where are you???

Hi Shirley .

Your apology is not necessary..  I should
not have written what I did,  and I have
removed it...  I am so sorry that I upset
you and also that you are so sick
right now with the Covid..

I think that we all are very sensitive
right now even those who are feeling as
good as we can with all of the
limitations that we are under.

Cabin fever is no fun when we are
healthy... and darned right dangerous
when we are really sick.    Your
struggling with covid while
remaining to be independent is
terrifying to me.

I couldn't do it but I do
understand your desire to remain
at home to take care of business,
as usual.

I hope that you keep improving,
and eating and drinking.    Have
you figued out where you pick up
this terrible virus??

Take care .

I love you!

Good afternoon from another warm sunny day in central Oklahoma.  I actually have the a/c on because the room temperature (lots of west windows) gets uncomfortably warm in the afternoons.  Didn't lower the temperature - just wanted to to keep things from getting stuffy.

Today would have been my Dad's 129th birthday.  Hubby would have been 87 on Tuesday and Sir Carson will be 23 tomorrow.

Shirley, it doesn't sound as if you've had respiratory issues. If not - that's A Good Thing. Glad you can pop in to keep us informed and surely hope that things will improve - even if it isn't as soon as you'd like them to.
Love and prayers....

Not sure if Miss Emily is coming for "study hall" this afternoon.  They still don't have wifi and her final Board exams are a week from tomorrow.  Off to make cookies in case she does.

Onward and Upward....

It is a beautiful nice warm day out and we are going to get out for a bit and try to soak some of it up🥰

Yesterday was a day of waiting for news on Michele and today we are feeling down over our son and DIL having to have their sick kitty put down.  Life right now is stressful enough with Covid and the election😩😢.  My heart aches for everyone as we all are feeling so much stress from it all and then our personal lives have issues as well😘

First of all, the maintenance chemo has not done the job for Michele, so it is a waiting game while her doctors figure out what the next step is.  I know she has so many praying for her and hoping there will be a miracle and she can get rid of this awful cancer.  We feel so blessed that there are drugs that can help her keep fighting this demon.

Bless you all as you get through each day dealing with everything that is effecting your life.  So many of us are so very blessed to not have to deal with sickness in our bodies, but so many today are having issues mentally due to the awful virus that is keeping us from enjoying our freedom.  Especially the ability to be with our friends and loved ones.  The holidays are going to be rough for so many and it is already a stressful time for many.

SHIRLEY, I can not be anything but totally amazed at you as you work your way through this awful virus ALL BY YOURSELF😩. I know your kitties are supporting you and of course your family and friends from a distance......just keep on doing what you are as it seems you are doing your best.  HUGS🙏

I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Jane , that is a huge batch of on cups! Only one. You have great will power. Maybe if all goes well I will start on the crackers and hope I have your will power.
I am sitting on my recliner with Jesse snoring in my ear.

Jenny, this virus has everyone on edge. Already we are seeing signs of products missing on the shelves again. I hope soon that this will be in hindsight.

I forgot to tell you the scare from Monday when Michele had her CT scan.  Before she got home the oncology nurse called her asking if she got the call from her oncologist?  She had not.  Now of course the nurse can not tell her anything.....she got home and rechecked and still no message.  She called the nurse again and finally was told she has a blood clot on her catheter connected to her port.  Not sure I totally am wording this correct....anyway she has to return to the hospital to get a shot and then to the pharmacy to get a script for a blood thinner.

This has to be short, running out of steam. Jenny, my sincere sympathy for Michele & family, will think of her in my prayers. I am amazed at her strength and sure those kids will someday, realize how hard she fought to live for them. Also sympathy for having to put a pet down just now, I do believe it is twice as heartbreaking because of the news of so much "death".

Sandy, you made me stop and think about the love we actually do have for each other in here. Our families would never understand how open we can be, how different with every day we share. With the 2020 world I am grateful for knowing each and every one that takes time to tell about what goes on in another place this very day.

Somebody turned off the switch, back to bed. Big day, got down 2 meals and enough smart water to satisfy my family. Wore me out taking a shower & getting the trash out so other duties planned will wait for tomorrow. As Sophia used to say, "Picture it"..... this little old lady puttering  along and all of a sudden the plug falls out & the balloon starts shriveling down in a heap. Got get to the other end of the house before the last poof!  First day of Covid sick was Oce.26, but it feels like a lifetime!

Oh, Jenny, my heart breaks for them, one more concern.

Good morning everyone.

Going to be another fantastic day with the weather. Will do all the dog's bedding and hang it out on the line. They say we will have this weather through to the weekend .going to enjoy while we can.

Jenny, what a battle Michele is having, thankfully they can correct the blood clot.  When I was in recovery ,one  thing the nurse said was to deep breath and wiggle my toes. I thought this very odd but she said it is to stop blood clots.......who knew??

Jane with all the work you did no wonder you were tired!!

Gloria , tis 43 ° at the moment here so I can se 70° later today! Need to really enjoy this as later we will be up past our asters in snow!

Shirley, I don't know how you do it. I guess one step in front of the other is your motto! Good to keep going but wise to rest when it says so.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, going to ba another warm day here, will take that as long as it stays and I go outside with Yvette. Boy is she spoiling me, tries to stop me from doing anything, especially standing too long, gets to oth legs and they get wobbly when I stand too long. Odd I can walk and they don't boter me. Maybe too many years standing on cement floors at work?

JENNY  so sorry about Michele and the things tried by the doctors so far have not helped as much as hoped for.

Jane that was a lot of coconut balls. I never did count  the number of those I made in another time in my life. Mine were with dates and ground nuts and rolled in coconut. Yummy.

AMY  Yvette was telling me that things were beginning to be missing from market shelves.  They are starting to limit how much one can buy of most things again.

JENNY  poor Michele, if not one hing it is another. Prayers for her and the family.

SHIRLEY  wish your family would bring you some meals so you would not have to cook anything. I know you don't want them in the house but they could call y ou and tell y ou they are outside with some food and you could go to the door and they could move away and you could open the door and get it. I don't know where you find the strength to do anything. I know it is just the stubborness in you that keeps you going, Hugs and prayers for you.

I am wondering about Lloyd, too. Hope it is his computer acting up and not him back in the VA hospital.

Have a good day and stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept like the dead last night and only woke up when my feet were cold this morning.  And here is a bright new day ready for ...WHATEVER comes along!

I don't even remember what I wrote last night that got lost!  So today is REALLY a new day!  And it's supposed to get into the low 70s today.  I really like this and it is Indian Summer because we've had a killing frost.  My Gramma used to say, "Can't have Indian Summer until you have a killing frost"!  Now I'm the Gramma and that's what I say!

I think I'll start on the PB cups today.  The coconut are the messiest and the PB are the biggest.  Then it's downhill all the way to Christmas.  Well not exactly downhill.  There's still the bagging and packing and wrapping and shipping and that takes time!

Frankie's off today so we won't have Cooper again today but she is going to stop by.  At least that's what she said.  Sometimes she just gets too busy and I lose out!

SHIRLEY, take it easier today!  Get lots of rest!  Feel better!

Enjoy your day Everyfriend!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda Shoppe!

I almost forgot...someone said that our friends and family wouldn't understand the relationship that we all have with one another here.  I think my kids are getting the picture.  Whenever I quote someone or use a recipe they have a look in their eyes that says, "That's really neat"!

And I thought it was over but woke up with bed soaked, my clothes wringing wet & head down right cold from the puddle of water laying in. Tom was at the door & stood up as he saw me move so I gut up to let him in. Nothing sweeter that having a pet come in "humming" (as Cas called it), happy to finally get a hug. BUT, I was cold! Headed to the bathroom for dry clothes. My guess is a deeper fever broke during the night. I haven't had breakfast but cats fed. Today is another day and it is anybody's guess what is in store.

Best wishes for a happy day, where ever you are. I am also concerned Lloyd hasn't checked in, you suppose he's gone fishin'??? The weather has been gorgeous here in the mid-west.  Shirley

Not quite as pretty here today.  Foggy this morning and the humidity is back with rain in the forecast.  But, I did enjoy those few dry Autumn days and hope there will be more to come.

I got the holiday ham yesterday and it looks big.  I had to move some things around in the freezer to make room but got it in.  Besides a couple of holiday meals I can see sandwiches and soups for some time to come.  That sounds fine to me.

I'm sorry that the news isn't better about Michele, Jenny.  What a battle she has had!  And what a special lady she is to keep on fighting.  Prayers are always going up for her and all of her family...including you.

It's unpleasant but good when the fever breaks, Shirley.  Keep on taking care and especially, keep on getting better.  Everyone is pulling for you.

Take care,  All.

Another day has come and gone .
Washed all the dogs bedding and hung it out. Worked around the house for a bit but knew the van needed a wash so did that, since the weather is unbelievable .

Talked to the neighbour and asked about their dog's nails and they needed to be cut. Said go over anytime as they both were working today. We have keys for each others home and later on in the day Rex got his pedicure  while Callie the cat looked on.

Supper was good, meat was fork tender and lots left over for tomorrow and sandwiches too! I didn't get the baked apples done..maybe tomorrow :)

Jane, how is the candy factory doing? I need to pick up more dipping chocolate. I do have chipits but like to keep that for cookies.

The Candy Factory was in full swing today!  My plan was to get started on the mini PB Cups but I actually finished them!  I have about 225 of them ready to be bagged, labeled and sent off to family and friends.  I also managed 4 Rudolph lollypops, 4 Santa lollypops and 6 little bite size Santas to be sent to OKla. for the kids.  I'm pretty sure Mikey won't eat any this year but Emma will enjoy them.

Frankie was here late morning and she left Cooper while she made a trip to WM.  She brought me back more dipping chocolate and some red for Rudolph's nose.  When she was leaving, around 2:30 she asked me when I though I'd be finished.  I said, "depending on how many breaks I take, probably around 6  As I was finishing the cleaning up I glanced at the clock and it was 5:57!  I guess I made it!

I'm taking tomorrow off.  Thinking I might give Mickie a bath but no big deal if I don't manage that.  And I might start packing bags of coconut and Pb cups but I'm not pushing that either.

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I sure hope it's loaded with zzzzzzs because I sure need them tonight! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Lloyd , great to hear from you! Let's hope that this stent does the job  now. I think you have had more than  enough trouble with your heart .Please take it easy and follow Drs orders. Shirley also was worried about you. At the moment she is dealing with covid and it is relentless in its symptoms but Shirley is strong and will also beat this.

Again welcome home ,good to see you back.

Lloyd Hammond...
...yes i guessed i was right yet hoping i was wrong, if you get my drift, although i was wrong about the machinery...I am thinking you have shares in a hospital bed the amount of times you find yourself in one...the idea is to stay well clear as and when possible, not in them...Anyway i am glad they have fixed you up...but it seems you are collecting stents, the antiques of the future, " you are sitting on a goldmine " as the well known expression goes...they may become valuable one day....

Jane S...
...enjoy your zzzz's you have certainly earned them...

Have no idea how i managed it but i did get round, so rather proud of myself..I achieved a round circle trip with my rollator through the town and passing by the pond area, oh how the town has changed since i grew up in it and only moved away 20 plus years ago...My Multiple Sclerosis electricity inside body movements were going ten to the dozen with my eyesight affected dizziness, jelly legs, my legs ballooned after my cellulitis, and this trip took me 45 minutes compared to an able bodied walkers maximum ten minutes, with the odd person speeding past me, i did sit down on a pond bench for a couple of minutes, pondering whether to attempt carrying on or turning back...I was snail paceing and shuffling, having lifting my feet struggles and clinging onto to my rollator for dear life whilst pushing my body over its limits...just glad to reach home in one piece and without falling over on the crooked and uneven pavements, smooth near the pond shops and cafes area...

When i passed by the flyover, on the level ground there were a police road cordon and they were standing over an empty car, so not sure whether had been accident or car chase...

Time now is 10.20am, time to make breakfast..this walk has taken its toll, first trip the loo for a bladder emptying even though i wear TENA..weather bitter cold, dry and the sun was shining...

As our late Joan FL often would have said, the patio is ready, someone has cleaned it spotlessly, tables are laid, cups are washed, the kettle has boiled, teas and coffees are ready for when we arrive...God bless Joan... Oh and you will find me seated in the corner, far back, nearest to the loo...be careful not to trip over my rollator and oh, there is also a cat running around in here...just dont trip over the cat, or its saucer of milk..

Good morning...

Going to be another lovely day here..all too soon we will be under a blanket of snow so we are going to enjoy it while we can!

The lilacs have gone wild in the bird feeding area and need to be cleaned back some and a barrier put down where the trugs will go in the Spring. Lots to do and if it doesn't all get done today......another day perhaps.

We still have the odd robin about but loons have gone . Geese are still here but will soon head south also. Colourful Jays are here in their bright blue suits. Fun to watch them bantering at the feed...my goodness they can be funny in their antics.

Gloria, let Yvette spoil you, you have earned that privilege. Now we can find canning jars that were so scare in canning time. I did stock up on them and picked some up for my friends also.

Shirley, hope today is a better day for you and you gain strength back.To say you're one amazing lady is an understatement. You need to get a t-shirt with " I survived Covid" on it.

Time to start the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

The boinger is already calling us to breakfast and when I hugged Mickie this morning I heard her stomach growl.  So I'm off to feed her....me too!  And the day begins.

AMY, I did answer your email last night but it never showed up in my "sent" box.  If you got it please let me know.  This computer definitely needs a going over.

Good morning everyone, yesterday Yvette and I tok it easy by sitting outside. Beautiful day and today is supposed to be almost mid 70's. I sure love  this Indian summer. We be er enjoy it while we can soon we will bundle up in winter clothes and only go out in the fridgid temperatures and only when we have to.

JANE  all my life I heard that about Indian summer after a killing frost and even heard one of the weather guessers saying that, too.

SHIRLEY  let's pray that fever broke the virus and you are now on the road to recovery.

PHYLLIS  I prefer ham to turkey any time. Seems one can do more with leftover ham than anything else.

AMY  with a hambone my Mom made a vegetable soup. I used to do the same thing. All the vegetables were put through a old food grinder so made a nice thick soup and tasty. My family loves it and my daughter makes it, too.

JACKIE  t he wobbly legss were only because I s tood  too long.  That is wha t happens when I try to cook.

LLOYD  glad you are home again. Just rest  and take it easy for a couple of days. I had a feeling you were back in the hospital again.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Gloria, you just reminded me of a soup my Mom used to make!! She also ground all the vegetables up but for the life of me can't remember what meat she put in. Another soup she did was hamburg soup and that was delicious, stuck to your ribs it did.

I have been fighting most of the morning  in between laundry with Jesse, he has a sore ear and we do have a med for it but getting it in there is like trying to put a dew worm back in the hole!! Gave him 2 pills that are to relax him but  although he is a little wobbley on the legs he still knows what I am doing!

Almost 60° here and it is still going up!

Good morning from a beleaguered Interior! Thursday, we were minus thirty while wishing for warmer temperatures. Friday morning saw 18 above with 8" of snow and by evening, 18" of snow. This morning, Saturday, we are thirty above with plus eighteen as a low.

We're asked to stay off the roads as the record-breaking storm continues with another 8 to 10 inches expected through Sunday. Emergency crews and plows are everywhere trying to keep up. This isn't our normal weather, just as the past rainy summer wasn't our normal weather. I'd expect to see this in Buffalo, New York, or Chicago or other Eastern states, not in the Arctic!

I'm not going anywhere!

Lloyd, I'm glad you're back home again and now to hopefully hear some good news from Shirley!

Day is done........I am ready for bed. Sandy, love your snug-bug.... enclosed like camping does make one sleep sound.

I declined all food today, have stuffed myself beyond comfortable. Today Andy came over to put the cover on the AC, supposed to end our beautiful weather tomorrow night.  D**n, I slept the whole 2 weeks away.

Andy wouldn't let me follow him around as he worked, he is not taking a chance of another 2 week quarantine from teaching & his grands! He got one job out of my hair I have been dreading.... when we bought the house we discovered under shrubs that were 30 years over grown... 12' 4x4 redwood beams that line the front sidewalk. 60 years later they are totally rotten. They are real readwood & full 4x4 (Lloyd will know why Cas & Andy were impressed with them)... They were painted white so major job to replace. Looks so good without them I am beside myself! He got it all cut to fit the dumpster & another 80-120 gal barrel so will get rid of it next Friday. One more worry taken away!

I am exhausted, nothing to show for my day but absolutely must take a jug of Brita water to my big plant in the living room..... it has leaves on the floor :'(

Had to go for 9v batteries in the RV last night...my battery bag was packed for a trip to MO>.. Could not find the ones I just bought but had a bag of ones taken after being used a few min in Christmas things....... Still had the ladder in the hall, the alarm laying open so I put one of the 2 batteries I brought in... discovered my tester still outside... so to save having to get it down again, I left the alarm laying on the ladder. Sure enough, it was beeping before daylight... :P  :P

Did not have fresh hamburger for the cats meal so thawed out the rib eye steak & gravy I froze last week, baked me a potato & we shared. I am already too sleepy to eat. Cats had their tuna for breakfast & acted hungry about noonish so gave them each another spoon full. They have dishes of dry "Friskie's Indoor Delights" all over the house & garage. Callie prefers the quiet of HER garage.... so I leave one door up about 5" so she can come & go. All's well and I am ready to crawl into any bed to close my eyes. No, I didn't get my bed taken apart... tomorrow has got to have more than 24 hours of GO.

And now I will get ready for bed. I will feed cats the canned Friskies before we are done for the night. I think this is the last night of really nice weather they will have so they may know it and stay out tonight.

Patricia, much as I've always loved snow and Alaska, I am not able to picture coping this year. I am horrified, my life dream and I can't imagine not having a dream.... how sad is that?

Wishing everyone health, happiness and sweet dreams.  Shirley

Good morning.

Another day of warm weather here starting off with 32 ° with a high of 65°.

Will pick up a few things at the grocery store later when it opens. Line up yesterday was too long to stand and wait. This all depends on IF the van will start as yesterday it didn't want to. Phoned son and he confirmed what I was thinking that the starter is going. Hope I can get it in on Mon to get fixed...we shall see.

Lloyd, hope you catch those zzz's..

We're up and attem.  The doggies have been out and we're waiting for the boinger.  I have a load of laundry in the washer and another one on the floor waiting.  The bed needed changing.

Not sure what's on the agenda for today but when I put the laundry in, I noticed hat the detergent was low and I forgot to put it on the shopping list yesterday  Might have to make a foray to the store sometime this week.  Also, Frankie has requested "Moose Farts" so I dug out that recipe and I also have stuff ready for one of my favorite casseroles for supper today.

Right now, I'm going to hit the showers before the boinger goes.  I hope you all have a special, feel-better, get-well day.  Make it yours in every way.  And don't forget to share it with your friends in the Soda shoppe!

Good morning everyone, afer hitting 73 yesterday it is now 35 at 7:30 am.

AMY  one brother insisted she used beef in that soup but I was the last one home and I know what she used because I always watched her. Beef would not have given it the flavor the ham did. Wonder if I can find an old fashioned grinder someplace. Then I could get Yvette to make it. Only thing about her soiling me 5 days a week is that  I am left on my own on week ends. About the only thing I can make is my oatmeal for breafast. Hope you finally got the drops in Jesse's ear.

PATRICIA  now you know how we feel when we get a snow storm that seems like it will never stop.

SHIRLEY  Just because you felt somewhat better yesterday did you have to do so much around the house? Looks like the fever breaking did the job of getting you feeling better.

JANE  a day you are not busy would shock all of us. You, Amy and Shirley are sure busy all the time.

LLOYD  always good to see you every day.

Have a good day eveyone, s tay safe and healthy.

Good morning from a snowy Interior where it's presently 30 above with forecasters saying 100% chance of snow, surprise!  ::)   The local paper says, "Only 2.5 inches of snow fell between December and February last year. This year, 18.2 inches fell the past three days."  We even made a UK paper reporting on Wednesday's snow locally.

Between COVID-19 new cases rising 100 or more per day, a record-smashing rainy summer, and now this record-breaking snowstorm, well, I no longer have a comparison. I won't be making any trips for the foreseeable future as snow is expected thru Wednesday with rain; of course, why not; expected Thursday and Friday.

It's 4:27, and I've been up since two, so no news as yet other than I'll probably crash sometime today. I hope everyone has a better, more productive morning!

Gloria, I certainly know now! I need a good humor infusion.

Good Afternoon Everyone.

I did sleep well last night in my "Bed Tent" ...

If you are wondering just why I bought
such a thing  (as my daughter wonders),
it is because my apartment in the Winter
gets very cold when the temperatures
outside get down into the 20's or below.

For all of the positive things
about where I live now (and forever),
the Winter heat problem is my
only real complaint.

I could solve it by moving, but
I do not want to do that.   (ever)

A corner apartment overlooking the
main street in the city, is very hard
to get,  so I work hard to keep
this one warmer.

Sandy

It is a beautiful Sunday here in the Mile High City......last day before the temperatures start to drop❄️😤

PATRICIA, you are having a real heat wave today😂😂😂. Above 30 eh?

PHYLLIS, sorry you are feeling under the weather today.  Take it easy and feel better🥰

My Broncos lost today to the Atlanta Falcons😤😤😪

I made a bread pudding today and it is full of liquid!  What did I do wrong?  It cooked plenty long, so I do not think that is the issue.

SANDY, I did kind of wonder why you bought the tent??  Now I know, and I can certainly understand.  Glad you slept well again last night!

Thank you, JACKIE, for sharing this video.....BEAUTIFUL😍

AMY, sorry to read the vans starter might be going out.  Gurrr, it seems there is ALWAYS something😢

Very sad to hear Alex Trebek passed away this morning.  That man sure put forth the strongest effort to beat his cancer....RIP. you WILL be greatly missed.

Just heard one of Kate's dancing friends broke her arm at a weekend dance event.....she is headed to emergency surgery😪😩. Always hate to hear this news😱

I must run out to get a few things before I start dinner....

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, EVERYFRIEND😘

Another fantastic day!  I knows these days are numbered but gosh, we will take them while we can. Managed to get sewing done and  just had a great day.

Jenny, if anyone has any reason to complain it is PATRICIA!! I just read her weather report and she is to get snow all this week!! It said this is the first time in decades that Nov has been this cold  and now they are getting 10 " of more snow on top of what they have!! Did you forget your eggs in your pudding?

This was a beautiful day in Central PA also!  The temps got into the low 70s and the sun was shining.  I heard lots of Geese today.  I wonder if they already know they should be on the move farther South.  There's a very large pond just beyond the next street and if you listen you can hear they.  They were talking to each other big time today!

PHYLLIS I sure hope you're feeling better by now.  Sleep it off if you can!
SHIRLEY, I hope your illness is on the way out, too.  I forget how long it's been since it started.
JENNY, was it whole milk you used in your bread pudding? Sometimes the 1 or 2% doesn't cook up as it should.

I'm off to the haystack!  And GLORIA, there's been plenty of zzzzzs to go around.  I can share them with LLOYD or anyone else who needs them.  Here you go...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.  And if you're really desperate....ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Good night my friends.  I wish you a peaceful nights sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Oh and just put my last weeks empty organic delivery boxes outside my front door, i will await my next arrival of healthy goodies, he usually delivers to me early, but not too early...Thankfully he does bring the boxes up to me, rather than leaving them downstairs in the foyer area..

Good morning

Another lovely day in the making here. Going to see if I can get the starter replaced on the van this morning. Being short notice  they may not have an opening. Will just wait and see what happens.
Domestic duties  need to be done when I get back home. No refrigerator scramble for supper so maybe a pork loin with apple sauce and scalloped potatoes?? I may cheat and buy store bought pastry for a pie but that too isn't a given. Lot of we'll sees.

Phyliss , like Jane I wish you a grand day today .

Patricia, can you see out our windows ?? That is an awful load of snow  in such a short time.

Gloria, the second hand stores may have them. A lot of people use the  grinders now. I still have the one Mom gave me
over 50 years ago. I use it when I make green relish.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Sunny morning and supposed to be in the upper 70's today but rain on the way.  Storm ETA will arrive later this week.

I slept very well last night so today is brighter.  Pain in left leg has lessened so the world looks brighter to me today.  I like your suggestion to swap, Jackie, but only for a little while.  It would give us both a rest for our respective legs but I have to admit I would rather deal with arthritis than with MS.

My first thought when I read too much liquid in your Bread and Butter Pudding, Jenny, was did you remember the eggs.  But, I'm sure you did.  Beyond that I haven't a clue.  Sometimes cooking is an unsolvable mystery.

Gloria, did the earthquake do any damage to your building?  Hope you are OK.

Take care, All.

It has been 2 weeks today since Covid hit me... diagnosis was 2 days later on Wed. I honestly believe I have had every single symptom, ache & pain anyone ever had with this crazy disease. But, I do hope today will start the building back up.

Jackie, before I forget to congratulate you... 3 cheers for making it to the post box & back! It is a feat we had to fight for like that, that "makes our day".... You did good, girl!

Sandy, I do understand totally the comfort your snug bug will bring, every night but most of all when cold. Have one tip, know you are so good at finding the right thing.... a heat pad or twin size electric blanket to warm the bed up before crawling in will keep it toasty all night long because your body heat doesn't have to bring it up first. I don't sleep with one on but turn off immediately when crawling in. Don't let the cold corners drive you out. Love your window on the world.  By the way, Biden is not my president any more than Trump was yours and WE can be okay with that, right?  I am happy to see you happy.

Lloyd, I hate the time change as much as you and hope somebody does put an end to it one of these days.

By the way, I think our biggest concern should be "who on earth is paying for these health commercials 20 times a minute on TV and how many billions to they plan to scam Medicare and Medicade filling some companies pockets?"

Wonder what companies in China will be making all those "free" things like knee, neck, etc...braces that everyone will need that our tax money is supposed to pay for. It won't be helping the people that sign up but factories in China will be hiring crews to send the US stuff nobody really needed. Somebody is spending a lot of money to convince people they are going to get all that medical help for free.... and those poor people will be the ones stuck with the lack of good care because all the money will be drained off at the top. I am shocked that we are even hearing so many of those commercials, that the companies in the background have no fear they will be caught.

Okay, off my soapbox.... I do hope we can stop the scam before a lot of people lose a year of decent medical care. By the way, we actually had the one insurance, and that insurance dumped us because "they weren't going to serve Medicare people anymore". Couple years later they came back with a new plan that cost more, fewer benefits that were actually IN the deal.. and we declined because we liked being in control of our own Medicare & the supplimentary we paid wasn't nearly as bad as the scam worked out by that company. Beware, you can opt back to being in control!

I'm running out of steam but before I do, need to check weather, looks like it could rain. The barrel my son put those sawed up 4x4s in needs a plastic bag tied over to keep water out until Friday pick up. Need to find something to tie/tape it down with. That means getting dressed! :tease:

I've talking to everyone that's posted, ya just can't hear me. Thank you all for thinking of me and for keeping things rolling. My son just delivered 2 meals for today, they are being so good to me I wish everyone could be so lucky........

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE  oops cap lock was on. Already 60 and into the low 70's again today. Boy when this Indian summer is over and it gets cols again we will feel it and windows will be shut again, winter clothes and jackets. For someone who always loved winter and snow it sounds like I am OLD now because I do not look forward to it.

PATRICIA  maybe we should both move to a warmer climate to spend the winter. With Yvette I don't need a good humor infusion, she gets me going every time she is here, we laugh so much all the time she is here.

PHYLLIS  I am with you about arthritis, between my back and shoulders I have days I don't want to move.

AMY  wow I had not heard about Alex Trebec. You are right he never complained and he had been fighting pancreater cancer for a few years. If they don't drop Jeordy it will never be as good without him. I have watched that program for years.

SANDY  my bathroom is cold, no heat in there so I bought a heater to get it nice and warm so I can  take a shower.

JENNY  Alex Trebek will be missed by everyone who watches Jeopardy. No one can replace him.

LLOYD  sorry a cough kept you awake. Hope you slept better last night.

JANE  love all those zzz and the ZZZZZZZZZZZ.

PHYLLIS  what earthquacke? If there was one here in Rhode Island I heard nothing about it. Sure felt nothing.

SHIRLEY  now the political phone calls are over I keep getting medical ones for this company or that one and I am happy with the one I have and not about to change. I better go ge my little ham in my slowcooker for later. vette will have to get the crock out of it later, I cannot do that.

Have a good day and stay safe.

The garage wiggled in a spot for me!! Called the neighbour for a ride home and he will take me back in later to pick the van up. We are truly blessed with great neighbours. I even got to hug my adopted dog :)

Put fixings for turkey soup in the IP and 7 min later it is done and smells great.  Tried pasta shells instead of rice this time.

Shirley, great to read your post. A little fresh air may feel good   for you. You are also blessed with a good family

Gloria, I was a fan of winter  when one could get out skating skiing and snowmobiling. Skiing on a moon lite night is magical......no sound but the swish of your skis.

I soon lost that magical feeling when opening the pound for the cows at -30° and having the pond (stinky) water splash back on you. Or getting stuck in deep snow then pushing the vehicle out. NO FUN

Now having said all that I still admire a new snow fall that graces the pines....then sun making it sparkle like diamonds. That is beautiful........so I guess I will have my love/hate relationship with winter and all too soon my dances with the snowblower..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I thought I'd never get here today.  There was so much to do this morning that I started in as soon as Mickie had he pill and before the boinger even went off.  I'm not finished yet but I took a break.

SHIRLEY, it' sounds like you might be on the up side of this terrible virus!  Thank God for that.  Now don't forget to get a lot of rest and take it easy (do you know how to do that?)

Please keep the snow away from Central PA for a while.  Christmas Eve would be a nice time for it to come and thn just enough to make a nice blanket and then go away before I want to go somewhere.

I hope everyone feels better today!  I hope you all feel rested and ready for whatever comes.  I pray that whatever ails you disappears.  Be well!  Be happy!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Shirley ...
REgarding and electric blanket.

I have tried to sleep with one
on but I get the creeps trying
to sleep inside one. Mosly because
I am a cool sleeper. with good
blankets on top.

It might be a good idea to
pick one to warm up my
bed before I crawl into
it.  I may just treat me
to one of those.

It is cooler here today.   Not
fridged but cooler.

Old man Winter is knocking on
our door.    YIKES.

I agree.  Everyone to their own
opinion.  No question about that,
IMHO.

The days are getting shorter and
shorter here in the North East..
That will turn around on Dec 21  ...

Now that doesn't seem like too long
now does it?

Have a good day  Everyone!

Bring on the photos, Patricia! Must be quite a sight out your window!

Sandy, I had not put that date in front of me and it really doesn't sound that far off! Hey, spring is around the corner!

Amy, glad they worked your vehicle in. The last van we had never gave a minute of trouble until it was time to get a new one.... it left me stranded across town & from that point until we finally found the cause... 2 solid years of replacing everything that had to do with electrical/starter/ even things more than once and turned out to be the ground strap! If they made those vans yet I would be buying, but have checked the US over and do not want one they put all the extra stuff in. Mine had a push button queen bed in back, the center seats could come out with plenty room for whatever I wanted. Perfect for overnighter in the woods. But I don't want used because I don't know enough to maintain. So it goes........

Jane, I'll bet I am better at slowing down/resting than you are.   ;)  I heard my mother saying all week, "Now, Honey, be patient........."  That was never one of my strong points....

Good night, sweet dreams, I made it down to the river and am stunned how many trees the beaver had muched down. I will look over the pictures I took and if Bubble is available, will send to her to post. I hear a bed calling........ Shirley

Busy ,interesting day that has come to an end. Vehicle is home ,fixed and ready to go. They couldn't, pin point the problem as everything  was working proper. A new starter was put in so no worry of being left stranded  in the city.

Now to wind  down  with a dog that always wants to hold hands with me. If I try to ignore him while he is on his couch he will reach out and pull my hand till we are holding hands/paw.

Shirley ,one day at a time .., know your limits ...which I think you do and rest when your body tells you.

Well, today was a beautiful one again...up into the 70s and I just wanted to be outside.  That was fine with the doggies if I took them along.  I know the hit is coming and I'm not ready for it.

Today was also an odd one and a busy one.  I just kept doing things that kept bobbing up demanding attention.  It seemed like every time I decided to "set a spell" I noticed something that had to be done first.  By the time darkness set in, I was all in but my shoestrings and they were comin' in fast!

SANDY, I've never been able to sleep with an electric blanket either but what I'd really like, is something across the bottom end of the bed to heat it up for my cold feet before I get in.  Just thinking of that makes me go "Ahhhhhhhhh!".  I remember my husband thought he was doing us a favor one winter when he bought an electric blanket.  I actually tried it but after about 10 minutes, I threw back the blankets and sat up breathing heavily.  I just couldn't do it.

Now I'm going to hit the haystack again.  I hear the zzzzzs calling my name.  I have no plans for tomorrow but I feel sure tomorrow has plans for me!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone, another day of 70+ due  today here. It sure has been wonderful weather here in the 70's and breaking records for late October and early November. Yesterday on the news they were showing the beaches at the shore and a lot of people in the water and sitting on the beach.

AMY  glad the garage squeezed your van in to work on it. I agree you have good neighbors bu t you are a good neighbor, too. Works both ways. I got on skies once, looked down t he hill and said NO WAY so got  off them and went down the hill on a sled. First time I went on a snowmobile it was in northern Maine. I was up there visiting my niece and her husband. He insisted I go for a ride with him. I got  int o an old snowmobile suit, picture it me at  5' 1" woth him over 6'. Glad no one took a picture of it. We went into the trees, mostly pines and it had snowed, the branches were bent down with the weight of the snow and it was a night of a full moon. t was like being in a fairy tale or in the middle of a Christmas card. Something I will never forget. I always loved winter and all the snow.  These days it is too hard to bundle up to get outside in winter. The first real snow of the season is still beautiful.

JANE  I am with you, snow Christmas Eve I would love to have but then no more. Still think it is beautuful.

SHIRLEY  just because you are s tar ting to feel better don' t go and wear yourself out and end up in bed. Was it smart  going down to the river? I know it fel t good a t last to do it but how tired were you after?

Just heard on TV that this state is getting a lot more new cases of the virus and more dieing from it again. Guess I should be happy I cannot get out to go anywhere. Of course I worry about my family. My 3 do not like wearing a mask and I keep scolding them.

BUBBLE  thanks for  the link to Shirley's pictures.

SHIRLEY  sure looks like some good size trees the beavers cut down.

I have a DIL (my second daught er) who wears sox to bed at night, even in summer. Seems I have always had cold feet but when I get into bad once my feet warm up I stick them out from the blanket or move them to a cooler place in the sheets.

Time to get my second mug of coffee.
Have a good day and stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's supposed to be another beautiful day here today.  Right now it's so foggy you can't see one hand in front of your face!

GLORIA, I've never been able to wear sox to bed....not even back in my camping days when everyone else was wearing them.  I remember trying and taking them off before I ever got to sleep.

Today is starting out to be another one of those days when things just crop up begging to be done.  I've already tended to two of them and I've only been up about a half hour or so.

I wish you all a lovely day!
Make it your own in every way!
And don't forget to share with your Soda Shoppe friends.  We miss you!

Good Morning.  It is another beautiful morning here, also.

I was not feeling good yesterday and had to cancel  my eye doctor appt. and my hair appt.  I do feel better this morning.  I was able to reschedule my eye appt. but bot not until Dec. 28.  So, I am sure the surgery won't be scheduled until the first part of the new year.  That is good, as I was planning on asking if it could wait until the first of the year.

Nothing special has happened for a while, now.  Just very depressing and boring.  I just don't feel like doing much. However, this morning I am not as sleepy as I have usually been.  So, maybe I am doing a "turn-around."  I hope so, as I really have not been feeling very energetic.

Sounds like everyone is doing ok. So happy to read that Shirley is feeling better.  Just bot being herself wasn't at all like "Our Shirley".  Please continue to feel better and rest.  That was a huge trek you made down to catch the beavers.

Time to get myself a little busy. Need to clean up my breakfast dishes and get dressed.  I hope to make it downstairs to pick up my mail.

Please stay safe and try to have a good day.

Joy

Good morning from a still snowing Interior with the snowplows making regular nighttime appearances. Joy, I know what you mean, and I'm glad you're feeling more like yourself this morning!

Amy that is good news, having the stitches out and getting the new starter!

Gloria and Jane, I could never wear sox to bed. I have a hard enough time not kicking the covers to the floor. Except in icy weather where I awaken wrapped up tight like a burrito! I once tried using lotion and wearing those mittens to bed, the type that promises silken hands in the morning. In that morning, I found one mitten clear across the room and the other in the hallway. To say I'm a restless sleeper is an understatement. And electric blankets are just too hot, and that has gotten worse as I've aged.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for November 1, 2020
Post by: Shirley on November 10, 2020, 12:08:49 PM
I'm another that can't sleep under an electric blanket.. and the fabric they use makes my skin crawl~~ Oh, ICK!  But they serve a purpose to heat the bed before you crawl in, I still have to have cotton next to my skin.  In England we kept bricks warm by the fireplace and would put them in bed. Back in the mid '50s when we were there we had no heat at all in bedrooms. Cas was on shift duty at the base so all those cold nights I remember shivering so hard my tummy hurt.

I did over-do, Gloria, getting to the river, but was curious why my woods looked so different from up here at the house. I should have sent Bubble a photo before they cut down so many. I had been admiring these super tall trees with no big branches to the sides, looked like firewood waiting to cut. I don't know if willow is the best for burning, but in my mind I could see a whole group of us sitting around a bonfire down there, toasting marshmellows. Would have to get a special burn permit, but how fun would that be to have neighbors stop by & toast one! I'll work on that idea and maybe when snow is on the ground we will be able to breathe without a mask out in the fresh air. I have dreams........

Thank you so much, Bubble, for posting the photos. Such a dreary day there was no color at all, but you sharpened and did wonders.

We've had 70s for 2 weeks and 11:00 am with only 39° so far. Tom is sitting outside the door in a heap, looks so sad. He looks so skinny but as far as I can tell, nothing wrong with him. They are 11 years old and he eats like a horse, always had. I think he runs a lot all night, he's brave when he thinks nobody can see him. All 3 think it is their duty to use the litter boxes when they come inside, (it is one way I can judge their health). They are so terrified of other humans I promised myself that I will let them live a free life as long as they aren't in pain. So be it........ What I don't spend in vet bills I spend on their foods, they do eat well!

All I had for breakfast was a piece of oatnut bread & cup of coffee. Tummy is calling for more and I've nearly used up my wake time sitting here thinking. My friend says she keeps reading about "brain fog" with Covid.... and that is a good term for it.

Another amazing day out there with temps over 70° rare for this time of year!!  Trip went well we managed to pick up the items we went for plus a wee bit more. Got into the appointment ahead of time and out. Dr said I could start using my hand and I hung my head a bit. He said hmm looks as though I don't need to tell you that one  and we both laughed. He did tell me what I am to do for the next 4-5 weeks and I will......if I remember :)

I checked on line for sensors for garage door and we  found one at a hardware store on our way in!! BONUS!!

Went to pick up papers for Kyle for his appointment at the hospital and the clinic was lined up with about 50 people.
Phoned the Dr and his nurse will email them to us.

Dogs were happy they could go with us but I had to put the a/c on for them.....we enjoyed it also.

I got a lot done today where it doesn't show.  I gave Mickie a bath and washed all the stuff she lays on, took her for 3 walks and loved her to pieces.

AMY I have one of those bed warmers but it's more a knee warmer than a foot warmer.  She's not the cuddler that Annie was.  She kind of likes her space but she likes to touch some point.

My car has gone to the garage.  It wouldn't start again today and I called the guy out in the country where we go and he said if I could get it there today, he'd check it out tomorrow and after that, he'd be gone for 2 weeks.  We got it there!

And I made a bunch of phone calls and paid some bills and order a couple of Christmas presents, made a casserold for supper and cleaned up some stuff.  I also had the doors and windows open all day.  It was absolutely gorgeous outside!  Tomorrow we have 100% chance of rain.  :'(

I'm going to watch one more show and then I'm going off to the haystack.  I'm ready!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep, and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Had hoped to sleep in a bit but that wasn't in the cards. A lot of things need to be done today some may get done others well all in good time. Rain is called for but the temp is perfect for this time of year....sitting at 56° for the moment. Kyle installed the new garage sensor and the door is working like a charm now.

Jane, hope it is an easy fix for your car. Know how frustrating it can be when they won't start. Maybe your battery needs to be replaced?

Gloria, that does paint an interesting picture of you and your nieces husband. I was watching North Woods Law the other night and they said 700 moose are killed each year on the highway!!

Joy, good to see you. I can't help but think we will pay dearly for all this lovely weather in Nov. I can't remember when we have had one so nice!

Patricia, guess you can say I had a grand slam with stitches, starter and sensors.

Shirley, willow usually has a lot of water in it unless it has been cut and left to dry for a while. One place my son lived at had a willow that took 3 people to hold hands and circle it. That was the biggest willow that I have seen.

Callie, hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, already 63, checked where daughter lives and it is 39, bet my SIL will be freezing. On local news they said that since 1904 when they started keeping temperature records this is the first time we had 6 days in November we had temperatures in the 70's. This has been a year of crazy weather.

PATRICIA  I could never wear sox to bed either. Seems like when I get into bed my temp goes up and I hardly keep a light blanket on all night. I am not a restless sleeper, I wake in the same position I fell asleep in.

SHIRLEY  keep dreaming. I would like being there with all this group but my traveling days are over.

AMY  I have had windows pen and 2 fans going.

JANE  rain to start here this afternoon and most of tomorrow. We sure could use it before the ground freezes.

Have a god day everyone, stay safe.

Hope it is a good day for All of you.

Phyliss, I too am thinking of my Dad. When I was old enough  I was lucky enough to polish Dad's medals...making sure NO polish got on the ribbons!! My Dad and his brothers and one sister served and on my Mom's side my uncles served also.  After the parade down town some of the men would come back to the house to catch up on life.  Mom would always make sure they had a meal in them before they hit the road..

I'm thinking of my DAD also.  He served in WWI and his picture in his uniform is hanging right outside my office door.  I can turn around and look at him and my MOM whenever I want and I can't miss seeing them whenever I leave the office.  Last year on Armistice Day I wrote the following and hung it under his picture...

I honor my father, John Wright, who suffered the after effects of the gas used by the Germans in WWI to combat our US troops in Belgium.  Our troops were not prepared for this and many died immediately.  My father made it to his 80s and that gave me life.  But it wasn't without effort that he lived a long life.  The effects of that gas went with him through his whole life but he never gave up!  I loved him then and I love him now and I will love him forever!

This is my celebration of Armistice Day!

Jane, what a sacrifice our Dads and many more made. Not one word was spoke of the war at home. When his army buddies came to the house the Livingroom door was closed so they had privacy to talk as they wish.

One can't pray enough for peace!!

My family, especially on the paternal side, has always had people in the services. I have a CD with a pen and ink drawing of a relative in the war of 1812 and photos of daguerreotypes of relatives in both Union and Confederate uniforms. Then down to WWI, WWII, Korea, and both of my ex-husbands were in Vietnam. The costs of those wars were horrendous.

Amy, my dad was in the navy in the South Pacific and had two ships sunk under him. He also assisted Marines in the Japanese Islands and never spoke about the war; it was a closed subject. He had seven brothers and two sisters serving alongside him in WWII and Korea. However, it just wasn't talked about.

You had an alliterative grand slam with that phrase too!

Gloria,
I have never been one to stay in one position and often feel most comfortable leaning against the covers rather than under them.

We're partly cloudy going into a cooler weekend after 24 inches of snow from the fifth through the tenth. The new forecast says 50% rain on Friday and new snow and cooler temperatures on Monday. I won't be going anywhere until I get my new glasses, and some projects are done around here.

I'm just going to say a quick "Good Night Everyfriend".  Today was definitely a strange day and tomorrow promises to be pretty much the same.  Lots of stuff to do and not enough time to do it.

It rained off and on all day today.  We managed our walks in between the rain.  And it wasn't hard rain, just steady.

I'm off to the haystack!  I have a feeling the zzzzzs are calling me already.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well tomorrow.  And may God bless us, everyone.

P.S.  AMY, I hope you didn't overdo it with your hand!

We enjoyed a beautiful Veterans Day here in the Mile High City.

We went to our local National Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Logan today.  What better way to feel patriotic than looking at the rows and rows of the white headstones.  Sadly there was no service due to Covid😢

I enjoyed reading about all the loved ones that served in the military..... so thankful to all for our freedom 🇺🇸🇺🇸  My Dad served in the Merchant Marines in WW II and was responsible for getting supplies to the troops.

AMY, happy to read the doctor appointment went well and you are going REMEMBER to do what the doctor encouraged you to do😘😘😘. Happy you got your van in for the  new starter and now you are ready for the cold winter.

JANE, how lucky you were able to get your car in to the mechanic before he is gone for the two weeks👍👍. I hope it will not be anything too costly for the repair🤞🤞

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

A poignant day for all who have had fathers - uncles, who fought for our countries, as my late father did...He was in the Paras regiment who fought on the frontline against both the Germans and the Japs...North Africa and Italy...
And as for the " Japs " what they done with their bayonets, to baby's and  pregnant women, they dont show that in the war films.....my father saw it, and using my fathers words " the Japs were B**s..

Some good news coming on my early morning tv news, was also mentioned yesterday of our UK Queen Elizabeth's soon to be 70 years rein...In 18 months time UK is to be treated to an extra day off to mark our Queens 70 years on the throne...Told it will be a weekend of celebration's for her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee...I well remember her Silver Jubilee 1977, i was 26, her Golden Jubilee 2002, i was 51, her Diamond Jubilee 2012, and i hope i shall be around 2022 for her Platinum, also hope Prince Philip will be too..She is a brilliant Queen, i amongst many others only have admiration for her...
And boy, does UK need something to look forwards to, after the nightmare we have been living through, and still am living through...

Good morning.

I think we are headed back to normal temps now, sure enjoyed the above normal ones we have had .

Yesterday a lot got done that wasn't planned so today is follow through on the planned  duties. Would like to make some pasty so we shall see how that goes.

Jane, hope you get your car back soon. Jane is there ever enough time in a day anymore?? Retirement should be full of empty time but that is not so!

Gloria, I wore a man's snowmobile suit to the barn in the winter, really kept one warm. Plus it came in handy when Granny was lambing...she couldn't push as she always had 3 big lambs and I would bring them into the world, wrap two in towels and put them in the suit with me. I would give her the last one to look after and I would head to the house to warm up and take care of the two, then take them back to her to look after. That suit got a lot of wear!!

Jenny, the Dr was so nice...they seem to get younger and younger these days :) You soon learn what can and can not be done  for the time being.

Patricia, Dad helped bring two families to Canada from Holland and the one named their son after my Dad. When the women would go back for a visit my Mom went with them. Interesting stories came back on how they lived over there. One that stuck was you bought a roast from the butcher, cooked it at home and took it back to the butcher and he would cut it paper thin for you. Back then every glass jar had a deposit on it  also.
I see you caught that... alliterative grand slam.

Lloyd, hindsight is always late in coming  but life has a way of working itself out for you. Hope you and Nancy are keeping well.

Shirley , hope you are feeling tickity boo today...with a bit more energy..

Better get ready to meet the day here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Even "Mr. Rogers" would not find it a pleasant day in my neighborhood.  Pouring down rain right now with flooding all around.  We are OK here but waterlogged and really tired of the wet dreary weather.

I'll make a grocery list but will ask David to pick it up tomorrow.  It is supposed to be a little less rainy, I hope.

Take care, All.

I'm here... just thinking. I've discovered I can spend hours just sitting and remembering... and wishing about nothing in particular.  The sun is shining (we need rain, Phyllis) but the trees aren't moving right now. I am determined to do more today, this has been "one crappy year" so far, but we're still here so not all bad.  If Callie was here she'd be wishing us all a .."Thuper Thursday"... or maybe that's "Terrific Thursday"???  ;)  Shirley

I can see through the trees to the river where a flock of sea gulls are dancing in the air, looking for food. Their white wings flash as they bopp up & down.

Lloyd, I'm having the same issues with drainage & sinuses hurting, but the nurse told me yesterday that "they are trying not to mix antibiotic with Covid, they just don't know all the problems it can cause"... so be patient (as my Mom always said to me)..

YES I AM A DAY LATE, Veterans Day (November 11 in the United States) honors and celebrates the service of all military veterans. With respect, honor, and gratitude: thank you for your patriotism, love of country, and willingness to sacrifice for the common good. You heard the call of duty and left the lives you knew to answer it. When we think of veterans, we often think of our friends and family.

Good Morning Everfriend!  My day started early and since Frankie is coming to take me out to pick up my car, I decided this would be a good day to do laundry.  Laundry doesn't care if you walk out and leave it.  She just texted me to say that as soon as she takes Cooper for a walk she'll be over.

Mycheal, how nice to come in and see your post.  I think of you when I see you and when I miss you.  Come back.  It was a nice post in honor of the vets.

Now I'm going to get back to work.  The sun is trying to come out from behind the clouds but it's not going to be as warm as it was for the past almost 2 weeks.  I do believe Winter is closing in on us!

I wish you all  great day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to let us in on what you're doing!  We're interested!

Jane, I picked up more saltines plus some butter crackers to start with your recipe. Not sure if there is enough chocolate wafers but will make  what I can till I get some more.

Mycheal, I do hope you are keeping safe from this Covid...there will come a day when we can look back and say we survived!! I do think we should honor our vets  all year round for the sacrifice they have given for us.

Now to tackle the apples... I hope.

Shirley,  you mentioned that
I could get myself something to
heat up my bed before retiring for
the night  and I think that I have
bought the perfect thing.

Below is a picture of the
"heated vest"  that I bought
from  Amazon.

it has six heat settings and I
can wear it across my back, shoulders
and neck when I am sitting here
at the computer.

Or open it up and lay it
flat in my sleeper tent to
heat up the mattress before
I get in for the night...

So it should serve me double
duty when the really cold cold
days come this Winter..

Thanks for the suggestion that
I heat up my bed before jumping in it.

I don't mind sleeping in  a cold
room as long as I have covers to
keep me warm ...  but it is nice to
crawl into a nice warm spot, to start.

Just a quick note to our "authentic Nature Girl", Shirley.  I have been adopted by a beautiful mockingbird.  He comes to my front porch, sits on the railing and looks at the front door until I open it up.  I talk to him for a bit, and he leans his head to and fro as if he's listening.  I asked him (lol) if he wanted some bread?  Then I noticed he jumped down to where the water faucet is.  So I asked about water? When  I opened the screen, he flew off.  I looked at the faucet and noticed it had a small drip. So I went to fetch a bit of bread and a container bowl for some water. Put that out there, and after the postman came, I went out for the mail, and what do you know, the bread was already gone.  I'm sure he will be back for a drink later!  This was so much fun. Nothing to compare to feeding the catfish though, Shirley.

Good morning from an icy Interior where it is just 2° and raining! The rest of the month is forecast to bounce back and forth between plus and minus temperatures.

I received an email from a cousin who told me that my maternal great grandmother was German. She wanted to know what I had found from Ancestory.com. We have 4% Germanic Europe which includes Germany. Austria, Switzerland & Central Europe and 4% Norwegian and Sweden.

The rest is mainly Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.  I signed up with ancestry wanting to see if family lore matched up with their DNA results. I was surprised to find that I could have saved my money as family lore had it right.

Amy, I wish I knew more about what my family went through during their wars, but my mother told me that it was horrible and not to ask and bring memories back. I know that both sides had men that served and those that died. My family is among the stiff upper lip clans, or perhaps that is more common among farmers?

Tomereader, what a delight  you had!! Maybe you will be able to take a photo of the mockingbird?

Patricia, my family is the same, never hear any complaints by either Mom or Dad about anything!

Goodness knows there are more than enough that steady complain.....never thankful for one thing in life! We lost a Reynard today, I knew as soon as I saw the glistening red fur in the distance. Looked healthy , no sign of sickness but just couldn't compete with traffic :(

Just made two applecrisps.....will ask the neighbour to meet me at the fence. :)

Amy, that was sad about the fox. For some reason, we have more black ones here.

I would have loved a bit more transparency, but my Dad felt we did not need to know what wasn't "our business." When I was taking Criminal Justice, as a sophomore and the Miranda Rights came out. My assignment was to interview both command and the officers on the street for their views.

My Dad was foreman of the city's Public Works Department, and he was upset when he heard I had been interviewing the police. Again, not my place! It was the sixties and a volatile time between teens and parents.

Tomereader, I didn't think we had mockingbirds here but upon searching, found we did. I haven't seen one, just like we have flying squirrels locally. But I have never seen one of those either. I, too, would love a photo!

Good day everyone!  I hope and pray all is well with each of you!

We stay mostly hunkered down, I bought a new bread baker when the old one stopped being trustworthy.  We shall see how the oatmeal bread turns out - I accidentally set it to bake right away instead of a delay for dinnertime.  Not a big deal - we are really minding the words of the experts.  Sometimes, feeling lonesome for not visiting in person.  However, the quilting group has a monthly Zoom meeting and we enjoy those special nights.  Our sons hauled a stationary bike up stairs and that thing is set between the dining table and living room couch.  Not great to look at but we keep on forcing the physical therapy the doctor has me on & Don is good to keep up on it as well  No one comes now - it is too chilly to sit on the deck or downstairs patio area.  I had the gas fireplace in the walk-out basement fixed - it is so nice and cozy there now so we like to do our reading or sometimes watch one of the few channels that come in on the t.v.  So it goes at our house much like everyone else.
are still some issues with the Colorado fires - they are better every day.  The aftermath of all these fires has ruined many beautiful areas that will take many decades to get back to the beautiful scenery. One grandson who graduated university is now talking about training as a fireman.  They sure are kept busy in this state.

You should see the huge book one son loaned me - it is a Chronicle of the 20th century.  Since history is my favorite class - it is super to have this distraction.

Keep on keeping on-----

Oh the virus out there is frightful
But this fabric is so delightful!
And since we have no place to go.
Let us sew
Let us sew
Let us sew.

Patricia, now you have me curious and I will be looking black fox up!

We had tried to get a friend/war vet to put his story on tape but no amount of coaxing worked. A part of history but best forgotten.

Sandy, that looks like the perfect solution.. for all times! I wear vests all winter & most of summer because I like my back warm & arms free to move. Be nice to slip out of it & while still warm let it heat up your bed.

Tome, we've had several encounters with mocking birds but one is almost unbelievable. We were visiting my husband's mother & brother back in eastern TN & one day noticed a mocking bird that was "everywhere we were", front yard or back, at the neighbors ... it seemed to follow & like yours, listen to us talk to it. Finally it was getting on my husband's nerves because it never shut up!!!  Time for us to head back to KS & we usually cut the trip in half with a nap at a rest center in western Kentucky. 2:00 am & we streched out in the back of the van, little side windows with screens & the whole parking lot full of other travelers sleeping. Would you believe a mocking bird sat on a limb right over our van & started singing??? NO JOKE!  I did not know they sing all night, but this one did. I know it wasn't the one from his mother's yard, but we gave up & boogied out of there & stopped on the east side of St.Louis to time it right for going through rush hour traffic. We do have them here but with the cats, I don't encourage them. They are such friendly birds & smart. The reason the robin decided we made good hosts was because I used those big snack trays (remember those '50s things we ate on while watching TV?)  The baby ducks we inherited from a neighbor liked their food on those trays with water to slurp up... I cooked them rice, lettuce shredded from the grocery store.. bread & anything else I could picture them eating down along the river. Noticed a robin was helping itself to bites of bread & a regular at the tray. That robin became such a pet we played games with it (tossing bread in the air to catch) & it built nests to watch front or back garage doors so we could help feed her babies. 8 years of photos of that bird & her mates & babies...They can still be free and fun to visit with, hope to hear more of your "Molly"...

Amy, so sorry about your reynard... had to look it up because all I've ever seen are the red or gray squirrels in MO & KS.... but we did watch a family of black squirrels in CO one trip. Quite a few squirrels around here & one neighbor spent all the years we've known them, trying to outsmart those squirrels. He even bought the corn cob holders that had little seats on each side for squirrels to dine on... and every type birdseed feeder that was supposed to be "squirrel proof".  His eyes would light up when he found something to confuse them for a while.

My brother that was in the Navy the last year of WWII has put down a lot about his adventures, some hard to believe but factual. He kept track of the one captured by the Germans and somewhere has records of everything. His wife is just starting to go through his stuff so I hope she will share along the way. The brother in the Air Corp never got over some sounds, he would not be saying a thing & all of a sudden his shirt would be wringing wet. I'm sure it was like my reaction yesterday when I heard "Doc" overhead. That sound hit my ears and the tears flowed... doc ww2 plane  (http://doc%20ww2%20plane)... We are so lucky to have it saved and fly here now & then, but this time I hadn't thought about it & I was even putting the flag out! Those war years were the center of our life, like we held our breath until "our boys came home".

Ah, so much I wanted to day but weariness has taken over & got to get me ready for bed. Thanks to all for sharing your worlds. Mycheal, it's been a while, glad to see you.

Carol, I also love reading history & have thoroughly enjoyed reading the old history & geography books that came from my father's house. The thoughts of that particular time... so interesting. One book starts out, "It has been nearly 10 years since the end of the war between the north and south......"  So I started looking at books at Estate sales, at the library book sales... and history books are a "dime a dozen".

I've got to get ready for bed, it's been a long & busy for me, day. I love coming here to see how everyone else is doing. OH... Jackie, I do agree that Queen Elizabeth is the one human in the world that has lived her life with the greatest respect for duty and never in MY lifetime, done anything to tarnish my opinion of her.

I only wish she could have Prince Charles and Prince William share the duties when she retires, I don't think anyone will forget that their love (Charles & Camilla) drove Diana to what happened to her. Sad that Charles wasn't strong enough to demand his right to marry Camilla, but those long ago years "duty" was expected after the Duke of Windsor gave up the throne.

I'm sure there will be more posts when I shut up, but I'm outta here tonight. God Bless All..

I'm on my way to Dreamland.  It's been another of those strange and busy days.  I did get three loads of laundry done in between.  The rest was more stuff that kept poking up it's head.

I've been thinking about a good friend whose husband has had two short stays in the hospital and today I was going to call her to check up on him.  The first thing I read in today's paper was the obituaries and Bob was in there.  I cried for them both!  She will really miss him after 53 years of marriage!  I spent some time writing a letter to her in place of a purchased card.  I'm sure she will appreciate it a lot more than a card.

Now I'm off to the haystack to look for some zzzzs.  I'm pretty sure there will be plenty on hand!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, get-well, feel-better tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  Got my car back.  All it needed was a battery!

A late night post on the eve of Friday the 13th 😵😱

SHIRLEY, I think you sounded better today so hope that means you are indeed feeling stronger!  That is quite the mocking bird story.  They sure can be noisy and become very annoying.

AMY, how sad about the Raynard passing.....wonder what happened?

JANE, SO happy your car only needed a battery.....sure less of a expense than it could have been😘

SANDY, the heated vest sounds like a great idea.

CAROL, good to see your post. We sure have been enjoying our warmer weather and our clear blue skies❣️ Guess you heard that our county is going back to on line learning after the Thanksgiving weekend.  Not sure WHY they are waiting....why not right away?  Our grandson will have his freshman football game tomorrow but it will be the last one. He is normally the long snapper but tomorrow he will be playing center and is excited about it.  JV and varsity have been on quarantine so they will not play anymore games.  The big book, Chronicle of the 20th century should keep you good and busy this winter😘  When are you going to Tucson?

PATRICIA, it makes me sad that you were not allowed to ask questions that would have answered questions that you had about the war or family.  Sad too that you were made to feel badly because your dad did not want you to ask questions of the officers.  We were raised in a time when children were to be seen and not heard😩😩

For years I never saw a black squirrel in Colorado and just recently I have seen several.  I have never seen a black fox but I have been told they are here.

I am off to bed before the clock strikes 12!  Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning

We are now back to frosty morning after being spoiled by the warmer weather. Clear ski with a temp of 20° so far today.

Need to finish the apples today, some into apple sauce and the rest into pie filling.

Jane, happy to read it was just your battery. I am sorry to read of your friends passing, a letter would mean more to her with your comforting thought.

Jenny, I would say a vehicle hit the fox. He had such a beautiful shiny coat so I don't think  it had any health problems. We do have a family of fox in the field across the road  and I have watched them playing.

Sandy, that is a perfect solution for day and night!!

Shirley , do you think you are at the tail end of this virus? Is it/symptoms starting to let up? Hope you feels a lot better today.

Gloria, where are you? Hope everything is alright..

Lloyd, hope you are feeling better too.

Better get peeling apples...thank goodness for the apple peeler :)

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's cold here, too....down into the low 30s overnight and only going to make the low 50s during the day!

Only things on the agenda for today...a quick trip to Davy's, dipping the rest of the crackers and getting a start on the packing, rolling the rest of the centers, covering the A/C,(I keep forgetting that).  And anything else that pops up!

It's time to feed Mickie...me too!  I wish you all a special day.  I'm going to forget that it's Friday, and I'm going to forget that it's the 13th!

Good morning everyone, no Yvette yesterday or today. Is beig tested today for pneumonia. I sure hope she does not have it. With this copid-19 around and her with that she woud be susceptible to it.At least her boss told my yesterday she would send someone today. Week ends are bad enough with no help but she always leaves me food that just needs warming. Have not seen her since Tuesday.
Been raining on and off for 2 days and more today. Will not complain as we do need it here. A gentle rain that is soaking into the ground.

My oldest brother and my Mom's brother ran into each other in the trenches in WW1. Neither knew the other was there. In WW2 I had 2 brothers, 1 BIL and 2 nephews in the airforce, 2 nephews in the army and 1 nephew in the navy and 1 in the merchant marines.

AMY  bet you looked better in the man's snowmobile suit that I did. He was a big man 6' tall and I was a short  5'1" I looked like a balloon walking or a short very fat person.

SANDY  where did you get that vest? My back is always cold and sure could use one of those.

Read all the posts but not up to talking this morning.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Sandy,  :happybday:  wishes to your Great Grandson from Kansas' neighbor, Oklahoma.

We were at his grandmother's and sharing a bedroom on oldest son's 5th birthday.  I remember hearing him wake up and say in an amazed whisper "I'm FIVE!"

It's been a busy and interesting week.  Did errands "all over town" yesterday - the last one to be at Walgreens.  One customer was leaving as I pulled in and it didn't register that I was then the only car in the parking lot.  Just as I got to the door, two gals in scrubs (probably worked in the pharmacy) were pushing the automatic door open and walking out.  They told me the store was closing right then for Cleaning but didn't explain why.  Very weird for mid-day on a weekday.

Lots of mockingbirds in this area and they do sing a lot.
The nighttime bird sound I remember best is hearing an owl and the neighbor's dog having a "conversation".  The dog would bark and the owl would reply with the same number of hoots.  "Bark"  "Hoot"  "Bark Bark"  "Hoot Hoot", etc.

Plan du Jour is Domestic Duties.  I slept in and need to get started.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Is Charlie also celebrating a birthday with Sandys great-grand son...do we have a double celebration or was this a typo of names...

Callie...
... ha ha, i think when they get to 5 and start their first " real " school, they think they are now grown up - overnight, and take pleasure in telling us so...I'm a big boy now...
Remember when our boys came out of short pants into long trousers for the very first time...

Good morning from the Interior with 12° and light rain. The graders and snowplows were working all day yesterday and last night again to clear the snow and take it away. There are still some streets with the centers plowed and high side banks. I don't know why the snowbanks weren't cleared along with the centers, probably some sort of city responsibility regs.

I've had a good couple of days, I was able to get some nagging paperwork approved and sent off and now I only need to find a way to have an eye exam and get new glasses. The Governor has declared the state a disaster area due to so many new cases of COVID-19, limited and depleted medical resources, and increased deaths, particularly among the twenty-nine and younger so all schools and almost everything else is closed other than essentials.

I don't have any idea how I would survive without my morning round-robin of calls  :smiley6600:    as we are all separated with some up in the ridges and foothills and no way to even reach the city with so much snow. And with all of you, online here and through my emails. With all its issues, I'm so thankful we have the internet!

Everyone is so busy and those treats and Christmas gifts sound amazing! In two days I start my thirty days with only limited foods  :-X    so I will only be enjoying treats through all your posts, and thank you for those! The term eye candy has a new meaning for me!   :smitten:

Jackie, Sorry for the confusion.  Name is the same (although we call him "Chuck") but not the birthday.  He's the father of the three Grands

Patricia,  I agree with having the internet - and texting,.   Groups I belong to are "meeting" via Zoom and I have yet to try that.   Family and I text but don't use visual programs..

Callie, I agree about the visual programs, not what I would choose. Since I texted so much in my employment before retiring, I'm used to that and actually prefer it. There are three out of seven in the group that do call, so that's fine, but often a simple text works and can be sent out to all seven at once. We have a group text going that all seven participate in together. I don't know the proper term, but it is all in the same text stream.

On the computer with my back to the tv, when i caught something that children were saying, re, Children In Need 2020...First child said I have had 14 operations, second child said probably 5 or 10, third child said I have had 50 operations...Well this certainly got my attention...all three had had kidney transplants..
Now they and several more are all singing ( The Harmonies of Hope Choir ) which gives children who have had kidney transplants the chance to come together through music...

Patricia, all of Kyle's follow ups with his Drs have been by phone. One now wants to do a call over the internet. Times are changing for sure.

I think I have figured out why the jumping birds....they are not vibrant blue like some of the Jays and I figure they are the juveniles. Had 15 mourning doves and two Jay last time I looked.

Amy, I agree, and it's never going to go back to the old normal, not anymore! I wouldn't mind doing a visit over the phone, but an eye exam requires a visit, and now that my paperwork is received I can get on that. All of my paperwork went into a lockbox outside their local offices, and my phone confirmation came from Albuquerque of all places.

I'm so tired of doctors, between my allergist and the upcoming tests after my thirty days and now my eye exam.  Too bad you can't email your exam!  ;D

We don't have mourning doves but they may be in the SE?  We do have local Gray Jays.

Patricia, we do have grey Jays here to the north west of us. They are a cheeky bird that if you are sitting g in the woods, will come and snack on you sandwich with you.

To get into the clinic where my Dr was ,you had to answer many questions plus wear your mask.Only one could go in ,Kyle had to wait outside.

Camp robber suits him!
Chickadees will also eat seeds from your hand. I knew a man that hand fed loons . He would go fishing ,said he had to be careful he didn't  catch the loon. Would put the fisn in the canoe then hand fed the loon. He had a friend take photos of him feeding the loon as no one would believe  him.

WOW! we have loons here, but they're skittish and out in the water far away from people. I probably wouldn't even know about them if not for the local bird sanctuary.

Gloria, I read back over posts & it finally soaked in that Yvette is sick, not been with you for a few days!!!  I know how much she means to your life, so sorry!  Hope she does okay and comes back soon.  That vest like Sandy got would probably be perfect for you, easy to get off & on & so nice on your aching bones!  Go for it!

I did get to the store but didn't get both kinds of the bread I usually buy.... shelves were so empty of everything. My endurance is down to "get out of the car & drop"... Sure has taken the starch out of this old lady & almost the end of week 3.

Jane, I waited for the other shoe to drop on this Friday the 13th... but when I saw your post this morning what went through my mind was, "just what else can Mother Nature come up with to make a bad day worse????"  I bought a couple sweet potatoes at the store, have one waiting to come out of the microwave & butter. What sounds good one day can't be choked down the next. A crazy virus.

I finally got my bed back together, I am ready for it right now. I think I heard it is to be near 70 tomorrow & a couple more days of 70s the middle of next week. We'll make it.

Love the bird stories, Amy & Patricia.... I'm for enjoying all wildlife, and let it stay free.

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.... Shirley

My daughter, Christy, came up from Maryland today.  She arrived around 7 with dinner from a special place near them.  It's something they all like and it was nice to have it ready when she arrived.

I got in my trip to Davy's and some of the other things I had planned but the A/C is still not covered.  Maybe Christy will help me do that tomorrow.

I liked the "bird" discussion too! And I was happy to see that SHIRLEY felt well enough to go to the store.  She's on the mend!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I sure hope it's loaded with zzzzzs because I need them tonight.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well (Yvette, too) tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Shirley - Callie..
..i want to thank you both again for my great grandson Charlies 5th Birthday wishes yesterday, my only Great-Grand-child, i shall pass them on...you have both brought back memories of our S & F's earlier days when we would have all wished a Happy Birthday to everyone's great-grand's, grand's, sons and daughters, sadly those caring days of Seniors and Friends have long gone...and of course back then we had a great card team, of which i was part of, good memories indeed, of what once was....a very friendly, caring, genuine and lovely community, so many loved members and moderators sadly gone, oh to have that S & F's back again but we cant put back the clocks...this is what it is, members purposely ignoring members they dont like, where innocent children and the celebration of their birthdays suffer because of it, they get caught in the middle....

Anyway, for some our other members, do with this post as you please, bypass it-ignore it, to be honest i have gone past caring...

I will duplicate this over in N's B & T..

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyfriend!  I've been up to my ears in company all morning.  They are gone now and probably won't be back until suppertime.

Jackie, you have to give us all the benefit of the doubt.  It's my memory that's not so good not my thoughts.  I wanted to express my good wishes for your GGson too but I kept forgetting.  Maybe it's not so much that the nice ones are gone but it's just that we all have lost a bit of our memories.  I'd rather think of myself as forgetful than ignoring!  Please forgive me and anyone else who "forgot".  I hope your little guy had a Happy Birthday!  And I hope anyone else who celebrated a special day without my best wishes did it in a special way.  I'll try to be better but I'm not making any promises.

BUBBLE, thanks for posting Mikey's picture.  I know I sent that one the day after I got it and that would have been Nov. 2 because he was born Nov. 1.  AMY told me that she got a whole slew of message from me overnight and she's out of the country also.  I think it was something in my computer that was holding things up at the border.

Christy just came back so I'm signing off for now.  I don't get enough visits with her and I need to take advantage.  You all have a great rest of the day!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYFRIEND🍁

It is a blustery day here.....when we first got up it was snowing...but that did not last too long and eventually the sun came out🌞 It is cold and very windy🌬🌬🌬

Belated HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY wishes to Charlie, JACKIE 🎂

Today is my honeys 77th Birthday 🥳 The boys have all called and sang to him and he even had a 🎂 delivered to the door from our Boston Family.  It is a cinnamon pound cake and it looks delicious.

We have been invited to Dave and Family for dinner and we ARE going to go and enjoy what might be our last get together for awhile as our numbers are rising like crazy and we have moved into the more restrictive color.

Yesterday was Grandson Matt's last football game.....an abrupt ending to the season due to Covid.  He played a wonderful game and we both got to watch from a distance. In school learning has been cancelled IMMEDIATELY until at least the first of the year.  This was to go into effect on this coming Wednesday, but a text came while we were at the football game saying immediately.

PATRICIA, I was able to see some pictures you posted of your snow.  I am sure glad you and Farrah have a nice warm home to live it....also happy for the group that you all keep in touch with to make sure everyone is OK.

JANE, I loved seeing the picture of Mikey.....so precious.  Thank you BUBBLE for sharing it.  WOW, Christy arrived with dinner...now how special is that?  Enjoy your time together and for goodness sakes, YES, get her to help you cover the A/C unit😘

BUBBLE, i know today is Don's Birthday as well as he and my Bob share the same hay. 🎂 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DON 🎂

SHIRLEY, surprised to see you ventured out to the grocery store.....I bet that did you in for the rest of the day.  It is sure good to know that you ARE improving but gaining your strength back is going to take awhile🥰🥰

GLORIA, I am so sorry to read Yvette is not feeling well and therefore has not been there to help you out😢😩. I hope she gets better VERY SOON as I know you are missing her😘

AMY, how sad that beautiful fox was probably hit by a car😢😢. I love all the discussions about the different birds.  Yesterday at Matt's football game a huge falcon flew right in front of us twice.  We have many of them here in our area.  We used to have a family living here in our big pine trees for several years and they would put on quite the show for us, but last year they were gone.  We only see them fly by on occasion and we sure miss them.  This year we had many Bluejays, many more than we ever have had.

CALLIE, the way I wind is blowing today you might just see me fly by as I am sure it is blowing your way😱😱

Have a great rest of your day.

Jenny

I'm here to say Good Night because I think we're going to bed early tonight.  Christy is already asleep on the couch and is she wasn't I probably would be.  We've had a very active day and I for one am not sorry to see it be over.  I always wish for longer days when my kids visit but if they were longer, I'd probably collapse!

Anyway, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, feel-better, get-well day tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
