Heal the World
by: Michael Jackson

There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space
Make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make it a better place
For you and for me
If you want to know why
There's love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares of joyful giving
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear of dread
We stop existing and start living
The it feels that always
Love's enough for us growing
So make a better world
Make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
And the dream we were conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earthcrucify its soul
Though it's plain to see
This world is heavenly
Be god's glow
We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel you are all my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we cry happy tears
See the nations turn their swords into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space
To make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me
And the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
You and for me

My father's secretary was visibly distraught one morning when she arrived at the office and explained that her children's parrot had escaped from his cage and flown out an open window.
Of all the dangers the tame bird would face outdoors alone, she seemed most concerned about what would happen if the bird started talking.
Confused, my father asked what the parrot could say.
"Well," she explained, "he mostly says, 'Here, kitty, kitty.' "

Good morning..

Wind started last night after the  rain and hasn't stopped. Hopefully it will help dry things up before the snow that is to come today.

Not much going on ,just  work around home and a trip to town to pay a bill and pick up clothesline wire to use on the tops of the trugs.

Bubble thank  you for the new start page..and the giggle.......here kitty kitty.  ;D

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

HAPPY MARCH 🍀 EVERYFRIEND 🍀

It is a bright and sunshiny day here.  We are moving into some warmer temperatures and I am sure happy about that!

Thank you for our nice new Soda Shoppe, BBBLE 🌷

Rain sure does sound good, AMY, but not the darn wind!  I found a nice Trug at Costco that I really wanted to order, but Bob is afraid the bottom is not strong enough as there are many reviews saying it is a light weight plastic.  He is not sure if he could give it some support in some way or not.  We just need the REAL good ones made by your honey!  I am still hoping SHIRLEY will tell me where she bought hers.  No matter if I need it or not I am NEVER going to give up on having me a nice Trug!  AMEN🙏

Michele had another treatment on her vertebras this morning.  Holding good thoughts and say prayers that it will fix her right up🙏

I wish you ALL a good rest of your day.

Jenny

Jenny, racing through but wanted to let you know my kids got me the trug for birthday or Christmas.... still in the box to be put together. Got a feeling they paid too much for it, the son that did the shopping is a "no holds barred" kid. I think he said it is cedar & when I get a second I'll run out to see if I can find a name on the box (it's stored under Andy's camper). I hope they will put it together while Julie-Ellen is in town next week & I will fix them lunch.

Got calls in to "regular" doctor & cardiologist since my whaco blood pressure will determine if they can do the surgery a week from today. Need to find out what the numbers MUST be so they can do the surgery.

Bubble, the pastels in that graphic are gorgeous & it is so perfect, the reflections on the glasses, don't know how you do it.  Phyllis, I do love the snow, can imagine hiking through the woods. Wish I'd learned how to "create" like that.

Need to get a nap before more to-dos get done.  Beautiful day here in Wichita.

Today has been interesting , high winds snow and flickering lights.White outs on the highways causing pile ups.

Managed to get 20 + dozen cookies made, so will put oatmeal, chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies in the hidy hole along with cold milk.

Jenny sent you emails .

Shirley, slow down, take a deep breath and smell the flowers. You are going 100 mph!

Since I didn't make it in here this morning, this is going to be "Good Morning Everyfriend" and "Good Night Everyfriend" all wrapped up in one.

Today the temps got into the high 30s and low 40s but it felt much colder....first, because it was raining and the snow was melting and then when the sun came out so did the wind.  Mickie and I went for a long walk this afternoon and we almost blew away.  The snow drifts have melted enough that we can make our full circle again and you could tell that pleased Mickie.  She sniffed and snuffed everything she'd missed all winter and she loved every minute of it!

I got some laundry done today and now I'll have clothes to wear the rest of the week.  It was beginning to reach the point where I'd have to scrounge into the back of the drawers and closets to find something to wear.

I also made air fried dill pickles in my air fryer.  They turned out pretty good.  You dip the sliced pickles in beaten egg and then in a mixture of bread crumbs and grated parmesan cheese and put them in the air fryer for 8 minutes.  They were what my daughter used to call "more-ish".  I'll definitely have to do them again.

Tomorrow I'm going to cook and bake normally.  I'm making Tuna patties and they're done in a frying pan on top of the stove although I've been thinking I might put one or two in the air fryer and see how they turn out.

SHIRLEY, if you really want your BP to come down, you'll have to learn how to relax!  You go like a house afire all the time and that can up anyboby's BP.

The end of this week and into next week we're supposed to be getting temps in the mid to high 59s and I'm definitely in favor of that!  March definitely came in like a lion today with all the wind so it has to go out like a lamb!  And I'm in favor of that, too!

Tomorrow is my "accounting" day.  I'll be getting everything ready for this month's paying.  I dislike paper work more every day of my life but it's one of those things that we must do.

I plan to hit the haystack early tonight.  I'm going back to the living room to watch Perry Mason from 9 to 10 and then I'm off to the haystack.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, snow-free, feel better day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Happy March Oneth.  It "came in like a lamb" in central Oklahoma and, according to the weather guru on the evening news, we may have another Arctic Blast in about 20 days.  So I guess it will "go out like a lion".  :(

Shirley,  I was going to suggest that you try to think about giving up salt "until after the surgery".  I know you should make it a permanent thing but concentrating on a shorter time might make it more doable.  Second suggestion was to empty and hide all your salt shakers.  ;)

I take two kinds of b/p medicine every day - one kind in the morning and another kind at night.  My "normal" is still 140+/70something.  Doctor has finally agreed that I'd be a zombie if I tried to take enough to get it down to the recommended 120.
Mother also had chronic high readings and her final health issues had nothing whatsoever to do with anything cardiac.

Busy day today.  Now off to relax and read.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have Pleasant Dreams.

Thank you, SHIRLEY, I will look forward to hearing what brand it is.  I hope they will get it put together for you soon.  Thinking about you as you try to get your BP down so you can have your surgery.

I got your emails, AMY.  Thank you.  I want a trug😩 I want a trug🤪

Pleasant dreams to all.

Working on the salt issue.... so ate oatmeal for breakfast. Lunch & supper was "home made" Mexican food of unsalted tostada shells with refried beans, taco meat, home made salsa & 2 kinds of cheeses, lettuce & tomatoes on top. With all the spices I put in my Mexican dishes I don't need extra salt.

I checked Amazon to see if I could tell what trug the kids bought me but guess I'll have to just ask. I do like the idea of a cover to plant early. I may even plant a few dandelions to go with the endive & leaf lettuce for my gr-mother's "wilted salad". When all cut up or torn up she put a "table spoon of vinegar to a teaspoon full of sugar"... stirred & then poured hot bacon grease (with crumbles) to wilt & eat promply. She didn't put tomatoes in this salad, but slices on the side. I read in one of the links from Amy that we should plant the tomatoes in the center or deepest part of the trug with shallow roots like lettuce on the sides. Sounding better all the time, huh?

Callie, I really have been BAD about the salty munchies.... even buying the small bags of mixed potato chips, cheese & taco chips... have a whole new box of them that I will ration out as we get past the milestone. I still think the pharmaceuticals have a way of convincing doctors & medical institutions we "need to lower the numbers" to sell more pills. Okay, maybe not, but there was a program on TV about all the bribes given to keep money rolling in. Not that their testing & work isn't a blessing.... but I'm feeling a little resentful tonight about giving up and giving in (and I know it's for my own good, doesn't mean I have to like it.)  :argue:  :sealedlips:  :surrender:

Our weather looks great as far as we see ahead... but this also is the start of tornado season. I don't even remember any warnings this past year, but was such a crazy year I don't remember much at all and nothing good, for sure. Guess we need to start thinking HAPPY... So happy is on the menu for tomorrow!  Sweet dreams and God Bless to all. Love ya, Shirley

I had it on one section of my crane booms but when I was moving it it fell over and came apart. I have pbc. bows over it and can cover with plastic. and extend the grower season on both ends. If i hade it up and going now would have Lettice onions and radishes growing in it. you can do that most of the year. the top Hight will be about waste high.

Good morning.

Nice, sunny day  here, thankfully the wind has died down. Kyle has an appointment in the city but that is not until later on this afternoon. I did try to rebook an earlier appointment but nothing was available. Have a few things to do here before we head off.

Hope Gloria will soon be home and popping in here to say hello..

Shirley ,I enjoyed picking beans last year just stand reach out and pick. Lettuce, radish  multiplier onions on the sides. I had swiss chard in the middle of one trugs and it really did great.

Jane ,maybe WM sells trugs?? You are lucky enough though that you live in an area of famers markets and can get fresh vegetables.

Jenny as you could see my trugs are snowed under for the time being ,can't wait to start gardening.

Joy, hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Phyllis,  my friend wrote to say they were making a second batch of your 15 bean soup to take to their son as he loves it.

Better go see what needs to be done before we go

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I forgot to say that I went to the Hidey Hole and got a few cookies to have with my coffee this morning.  Thank you, AMY.  You are also right about the fact that I have lots of Amish and Mennonites in this area who grow and sell good, fresh veggetables.  But I have a perfect place to put a trug and grow flowers in it!

PHYLLIS, 15 bean soup is on my agenda for tomorrow or Wednesday.  I'll report after testing!

Hello GLORIA, whenever you look in!

Hello, JOY, LLOYD, SANDY, SHIRLEY, TOMEREADER, PATRICIA, JENNY, and EVERYONE ELSE!

what a day yesterday!  Got lost on the way to the vaccination place...it was raining...ended up on the expressway headed out of Raleigh toward the east...found our way back, I don't know how, in time for the shot...the place was really busy...felt not so great yesterday afternoon so took Tylenol and went to bed early.  But, feeling just fine this morning and my arm is only slightly sore.  Thank goodness, that is all over for me.  David gets his second shot next week.

Take care, All.

Good morning, nothing new here, so I haven't had that much to say. I did sign up for an umbrella organization of senior services, so this will be new. The fourth, a volunteer, will take me grocery shopping, and someone will call this week about setting up a cleaning person depending on hours needed and pay scale. Since I haven't been out of my apartment since the 12th, this will be an interesting trip. I've never used the grocery store carts, so I hope I don't run anyone down.   :-\

Thank you....Thank you....SHIRLEY!  Now YOUR trug looks like the REAL DEAL, the kind that Kyle would make for us IF we could only get up there to pick it up! Can not wait to see yours built!

Yep, not surprised to see you want a trug too, JANE!  You do have access to all of those wonderful  home grown veggies, so yes, you need a trug for your flowers!

Sorry to read you were not feeling to good after your Covid Vaccine, PHYLLIS.  It appears it was temporary since you are feeling much better today!

I just learned this morning that one of our neighbors is in the hospital after having a sever adverse reaction after his Covid Vaccine and another neighbor is not feeling too well either after hers.  Some are going to have a reaction, no doubt about it HOWEVER many of us have not, so please, EVERYFRIEND, do not be afraid to get yours as soon as you can because getting Covid would be so much worse and for some the long lasting effects from having Covid have been very bad.

HAPPY to read your post, PATRICIA.......do hope this works out great for you.

AMY, I definitely saw that you will have to wait a little longer to be able to even get next to your trugs with all of the snow that you have.

We are off to mail in our passports for renewal.....they want an arm and a leg these days to renew AND it is 8$ to mail in the renewal the way they suggest you mail them.  Heck, we do not even know IF we will ever be able to travel out of the country ever again😩😩

Have a good rest of your day.

Jenny

I'm still in time to wish you all "Good Morning" so..... Good Morning Everyfriend!  It was in the low 20s when we got up this morning but the sun is shining and it's supposed to make it into the mid 40s by mid afternoon.  I do believe Spring is about to "spring" on us!  There couldn't be a better time.  My winter jacket is getting a bit "muxey" as my grandmother used to say and all my gloves are darker in color.  I kick my boots every time I see them and they're starting to holler!  I want to put my porch swing back out there and sit on it for a bit.  And I'd like to pack all the sweaters and sweat shirts away.  They take up a lot more space that a tee shirt does.  I suppose that's enough complaining so I'll shut up on that.

PHYLLIS's bean soup is in the crock pot and it's going to be a great supper.  I might dig some rolls out of the freezer to go with it for supper.  It's only been cooking for about an hour but it's already giving off a tantalizing aroma!  I wonder if I'll be able to wait.  I do like bean soup and this one looks to be pretty special!

I have to get back to my paper work so I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow. Be very careful!

Sorry, Janie, I've had a whacky day. The BP cuff monitor wouldn't monitor this morning so I did my errands & got back to discover after a couple hours, that I couldn't find the little purse I keep my gift cards in. I had just bought a couple hundred dollars worth of McDonald's cards because they were "on sale" for 4 times the value.... that means I could get $800 worth of gas points & that is 80¢ per gallon off for 35 gallons. With the dollar off it is $35 off for my 55 gallon RV tank. BUT, after losing the purse full of cards on the trip to CO last summer (I know it went into the trash bag that sat by the edge of the table...it was heavy when I threw away but I was too lazy to go through to see why).... After searching the floor of the car 3 times I discovered it was under the mat and not just the sun shades where I usually hide it. Did not do my BP any good, but at least the monitor started working! Still high but about normal for me. I hope to be in bounds for the surgery next Monday!

Lloyd, I love going through my parents old photos... and did put some names on ones I had printed from Dad's negatives.  One photo was of Dad's mother and another tall lady that Dad said "Well, there is Mama and Mrs.Oreo" (it sounded like). Down in Osage County most names are either French or German & I don't try to guess how to spell.... but was surprised when I asked him "how to spell Oreo".... and he said, "Henriott" ... haha

Beautiful spring day here in KS, very light weight jacket. Cats are all out tonight, may just stay out, but I'll check before I go to bed to see if they want in. I peeked under the leaves and jonquils are out of the ground. We've had some of our deepest snows in March but kind of exciting with the changing season. Stay safe & healthy, at least we will soon be able to have picnics in the park with the little ones. I've hardly seen them this past year.... MY choice because they are around too many other kids in sports & other activities.

Sweet dreams & God Bless. Shirley

Sorry JANIE....not fun to talk to yourself😩. I thought about you and hoped you enjoyed your bean soup.

We had a very exciting day......after anxiously awaiting the news, we found out that #3 son and his family will be moving to NW Arkansas for a new job. Unfortunately Covid once again closed the second golf course for him this past year.  He is very well qualified so had two job offers within the week of being out of a job.  We are very thankful, and happy for him to get what we hope is going to be an excellent fit for him.

SHIRLEY, these stressful times sure are not helping you with your blood pressure issues.  So happy you found your gift cards.

AMY, hope Kyle will get a good report from the Doppler.  Glad you did not get too much snow.  We are to have rain turning to snow tomorrow but it will be a fast moving storm.

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND.

Good morning...

Our family of crows are back, the ones that sit in the pine tree and holler for the breakfast at 6 am. Soon it will be maple syrup time too..Spring is in the air.

Working around home  ,need to get at baking bread  this morning , need it cool enough to bag and put in the mailbox for the mail lady.

Not much else is happening here...so far.

Kyle now has 3 tops made for the trugs and I will get photos later.

Shirley, Kyle lost his remote for his hearing aids and we have looked high and low for it. It will likely turn up when he gets a new one.  Murphy's Law.

Jane, how was the soup?

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Hope you enjoy a little history.

Special Group / Born Between 1930 - 1946. Today, they range in ages from 74 to 90.  Are you or do you know someone "still here"?

Interesting Facts for you

You are the smallest group of children born since the early 1900s.

You are the last generation, climbing out of the depression, who can remember the winds of war and the impact of a world at war which rattled the structure of our daily lives for years.

You are the last to remember ration books for everything from gas to sugar to shoes to stoves.

You saved tin foil and poured fat into tin cans.

You saw cars up on blocks because tires weren't available.

You can remember milk being delivered to your house early in the morning and placed in the "milk box" on the porch.

You are the last to see the gold stars in the front windows of grieving neighbors whose sons died in the War.

You saw the 'boys' home from the war, build their little houses.

You are the last generation who spent childhood without television; instead, you imagined what you heard on the radio.

With no TV until the 50's, you spent your childhood "playing outside".

There was no little league.  There was no city playground for kids.

The lack of television in your early years meant, that you had little real understanding of what the world was like.

On Saturday afternoons, the movies gave you newsreels sandwiched in between westerns and cartoons.

Telephones were one to a house, often shared (party lines) and hung on the wall in the kitchen (no cares about privacy).

Computers were called calculators; they were hand cranked.

Typewriters were driven by pounding fingers, throwing the carriage and changing the ribbon.

INTERNET' and 'GOOGLE' were words that did not exist.

Newspapers and magazines were written for adults and the news was broadcast on your radio in the evening.

As you grew up, the country was exploding with growth.

The Government gave returning Veterans the means to get an education and spurred colleges to grow.  Loans fanned a housing boom.  Pent up demand coupled with new instalment payment plans opened many factories for work.

New highways would bring jobs and mobility.

The Veterans joined civic clubs and became active in politics.

The radio network expanded from 3 stations to thousands.

Your parents were suddenly free from the confines of the depression and the war, and they threw themselves into exploring opportunities they had never imagined.

You weren't neglected, but you weren't today's all-consuming family focus.  They were glad you played by yourselves until the street lights came on They were busy discovering the post war world.

You entered a world of overflowing plenty and opportunity; a world where you were welcomed, enjoyed yourselves and felt secure in your future though depression poverty was deeply remembered.

Polio was still a crippler.

You came of age in the 50s and 60s.  You are the last generation to experience an interlude when there were no threats to our homeland.  The second world war was over and the cold war, terrorism, global warming, and perpetual economic insecurity had yet to haunt life with unease.

Hello Everyfriend!  There sure aren't many in that "every" part of everyfriend today.  I hope this forum isn't dying off.  I won't have anyone to talk to if it does.

I miss the people who visited here every day...GLORIA for one!  I know where many of yu are and I wish I could follow you there.  Or I wish you would pop in here!

I was buried in paper work yesterday and today.  But my desk is cleaned off now and I can actually see the top of it.  My bills are getting paid and my accounts are in pretty good shape.  I'll be heading for the haysstack early tonight because Cooper will be arriving at 5:30 a.m.  tomorrow.  We have to be up and attem early.  And we were up and attem early today so I'm tired and ready for bed.

DON, I'm one of those born and raised in the time of your story.  I remember most of what was in that list.  We had an extra family member in our hours during the war years.  My great aunt came to live with us when her daughter joined the Army Nurse Corps.  "Aunt" Margaret used to spend her furloughs at our house and I was one of a very few kids with a close FEMALE relative in a uniform.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, snow-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Great reminder, Don. I was born in Jan of '35 so everything rings true for me. Glad to see you pop in, how's life treating you these days?

I'm busy taking care of details for cataract surgery on Monday and daughter arriving on Sat. Been doing necessary cleaning of the spare bedroom that had become storage for "stuff" from the RV. Have one pile of things that go to CO and another pile that travels to MO. Weather makes a difference and having electricity in MO makes a big difference. I've had 7 years to accumulate stuff for the elephant and now it is a problem storing because "too hot or too cold" to leave out.

Our temps got above 70 today so feels like spring. Should have picked up leaves that blow in all year. Some people think they need to pick up leaves ONCE a year but haven't trained their trees to drop all at once. If I had trees to go with all the leaves I pick up by my front door, I'd be living in a forest. I hoped to get some bagged up today but maybe tomorrow will do better. Going to get cataracts removed a week apart & then waiting for the last to heal before glasses before I can get back to yard work... going to be a busy month. We have spring rains coming through tonight.

Cats are already sacked out. Last night they decided to stay outside but they didn't want to go back out after their last snack tonight because the rain already started. I opened the bedroom today so fresh air should make for good sleeping. Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. Shirley

Nice to see SANDY popping in.  Come back and chat!

SHIRLEY, you are in my prayers for getting ready for surgery and for having it done!  I wish you good sight and a good visit with your daughter!  Aren't we lucky to have kids who care?

I enjoyed your list, donklan, but would take one exception.  I was born in 1929 so everything on the list is firmly in my memory.  But, we were well aware of the reality of the world.  We had two daily newspapers, radio news at morning, noon and twice at night in 15 minute segments, weekly news magazines, and class rooms that stressed current world happenings.  All of that along with movie newsreels.  I remember studying the beginnings of WW2 in Europe when I was in grade school...well before the US became actively involved.  I think we had a pretty good grasp of what the "real world" was like even if we were somewhat isolated from it.

Glad your daughter is coming to be with you, Shirley.  Your cataract surgery will go just fine.

Wish Gloria would come back soon.  I miss her.

Sorry I've missed a couple of days but I have been really busy with a lot of household business that seems to all come due at once.  I have dealt with most of it but still need to tackle the taxes next week.  After that I think I can relax for awhile.

Take care, All.

Thank you all for the kind words, prayers and patience for my blabbering. I honestly wasn't this concerned about heart surgery but think my brother dying a year ago yesterday has something to do with my panic. His dying like he did was a total shock & it had to do with whatever medicine they put in him that caused it. We know we are wired different, he, our father & I all enjoyed a cup of coffee "to relax & go to sleep". Anyway, I know I repeat myself but when I went to pick up my meds to take before the surgery, turns out this doctor ordered the same as the one last year. The pharmacist told me this time that "one is an antibiotic and the other a steroid" ... just the name is similar. So I will take and shut up. Taking the BP meds but every time I check BP my heart starts to pound & BP runs up... Will be glad when this is all over. From what I understand, it is a ONE time thing, right?  :o  :-\

Yep, Lloyd, my mother also made ham salad the same way. Like you, I'm hungry again..all the time.

Phyllis, I was asking my kids lately if they ever had any high school classes about types of world governments, civics, history from ancient to present. They had practically NO education as it started being "socially unacceptable" to talk or teach about anything controversial. What a shame we can't teach the next generations by discussing and analyzing what is right or wrong.

This isn't getting the house cleaned. I'm shocked at how much needs to be done but will be burning the midnight oil before my daughter shows up tomorrow! Thanks for putting up with my "stewing & fretting".... haha, I remember one of the shows when Maude made a crack about Rose's "stewing & fretting". They had some good writers for that show~~~

I guess Gloria is not fighting to go home until she is comfortable with being able to take care of herself. Maybe the food is better?  Do wish she had a computer to talk to us.....

GOOD EVENING....EVERYFRIEND 🌹

It was a nice sunny day after a bit of snow overnight.

We are getting ready for our first trip during this pandemic....getting on a airplane is a bit daunting to me to be very honest, but we have a need to do this, so off we will go.  Going to visit our SoCal Family before they leave the Palm Springs.  We are going to drive one of the sons car to Arizona and will see my dad.  Then we decide if we are going to return to Denver or drive straight on to their new home in NW Arkansas. It sure is going to be strange to be out and about driving around and being in a different areas after being home bound for so long🤪

SHIRLEY, you will certainly be in our thoughts and prayers Monday as you have your surgery.  Sure glad your daughter is able to be there with you.

PHYLLIS, good to see you joining in.  It is not hard for us to get so involved with things and just not get in here to say hello.  I know I do this more than I would like.  I want to do a better job of checking in even if I do not have much to say as there are friends waiting for us here!  I miss GLORIA too, and hope she will be able to get home soon and get back on line.

DONKLIN, I enjoyed reading your interesting facts.  I was born in 1947, so just after the things mentioned, however I remember many of the things on the list.  Thank you for sharing.

SANDY, are you feeling better now that you have cut many of the "no no's" out of your diet?

JANE, I, too had aunts that were in the service during the war. I am proud when I read things about the "Waves" and the nursing Corp.

AMY, I would be more than happy to come and join you and eat some of your beans and ham....yummmm!

Time to start some dinner.....enjoy the rest of your evening.

Jenny

Hello Everyfriend!  Cooper will be an early arrival again tomorrow so I'm heading for the haystack a bit early tonight.  I got a lot done today but most of it doesn't show.  Most of my bills are paid for this month and that's always a big load off my mind.

I still have to hone my grocery list and email it to my daughter for tomorrow's shopping.  She tries to go early before the crowds gather so she needs the list tonight.

Today was sunshiny but COLD!  The wind was blowing and I didn't check the wind chill factor but it was 19 when we were out for the first time this morning.  I'm freezing the rest rest of the bean soup in soup dishes overnight and then tomorrow, I'll put them in plastic bags.  That way they'll be easy to grab, toss in a soup bowl, set in the microwave and eat.

PHYLLIS, my daughter wants me to forward your 15 bean soup recipe to her so it's still getting around!  Thank you for sharing.  It's really good soup!  And I think I know what the lemon juice does!  I think it removes the "music" from the beans!  What a good idea!

I'm going to email my list and take off for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, snow-free, warmer tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I made it up in time to meet and greet Cooper when he arrived.  We all had breakfast together and I took a separate walk with each of the dogs.  Then I took the time to put my car under cover when we get back.  IT'S SNOWING AGAIN IN CENTRAL PA!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning...
I was up and running this morning. Wanted to pick up a few things  at the grocery store and Kyle wanted to go to the lumber store.

Hank now has a new home, the top came in for the cabinet and hubby attached it yesterday. Extra space to put my baking instead of using the table

Laundry day here ,due to helping Kyle yesterday I didn't get the baking done but maybe.....just maybe it might get done today. I am not committing to anything as he needs help in the shop and sure enough if I start something that will be when he needs me.

Jenny, can understand your apprehension on flying but know how much you want to see your family and hug them. Your  Dad will be so happy to see you!

Lloyd, maybe to night you will get your sleep.

Jane, our paper work has gone into the bookkeeper and now it is wait and see time.

Better get a move on

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning,

This is the 4th beautiful day in a row for central Oklahoma!  Our big ice storm last October and recent Blizzard have caused trees and shrubs to be very slow getting new leaves and blossoms so maybe this will spur them to Get Going.

I actually went out for lunch yesterday - in a real restaurant!  First time since last March.
#1 son took me to a Pizza Kitchen where you order your pizza freshly made while you watch.  I ordered an individual pizza with cheese and crumbled sausage....and ate every single bite.

Jenny, I think the route from Phoenix to northeastern Arkansas would take you directly through OKC.  If you decide to do that and the timing is right, would love to connect with you for lunch or, maybe, a Braum's ice cream stop.

Shirley,  you'll be in my thoughts and prayers for Monday's surgery. I think you'll be amazed.
I understand about BP soaring when you take it yourself - or when you're under stress.  Mine usually goes back to what is normal for me (considered high for the "experts") after I get the relaxing meds - or the procedure is over.

Patricia,  hang in there.  :smitten:

I decided to clean up/out some picture files and have a mess on my work table.  Better turn around and get busy.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

Good afternoon Everyone,
from the Sunny but cold,  rocky coast of Maine.

SANDY, are you feeling better now that you have cut many of the "no no's" out of your diet? "

I am feeling better.  My BP is low and my heart rate
has gone up into the 70's, so I feel very good.
I do miss eating all that high sodium foods, but
I cook my veggies in the oven and they come out
so tasty that I can live nicely without adding
any  sodium.

It takes a long time to get used to a new way
of eating.   But Doc said no more so no more
it it is.     Otherwise,  all is well here.
Same as before isolation wise...  No Covid,  no colds
and no flu,  so I can't complain.

High to Everyone...  Take good care of yourselves.

This bit of news (trivia) will no doubt confound a lot of you, but most will remember.  I had this Ear Bug for some reason this A.M., a song my mother used to sing to me:  "Down in the meadow is a little bitty pool, with three little fishies and the mama fishie too.  Swim, said the mama fishie, swim if you can, so they swam and they swam right over the dam".  After much searching, I finally found a YouTube of a group that recorded it back in the late 30's.  It has the best sound quality, and you can understand the lyrics better, with another verse or two.  There was one with a "name" band of that time, but they kind of veered off the purpose of the song IMHO.

Maybe Oldiesmann can post the good one in his forum.

Amy ...

My Baked cauliflower is pretty much the
same as the recipe that you posted...

IMHO,  baking veggies makes a huge
difference in the way that they taste...

Good thing as that is about all I can
eat besides fish and chicken.

I sound like I am complaining,  but I
am really not.   I feel better now that I have
given up sodium...and all foods that are high
in it.

Can't have it all...
(But I tried !!!)

Good Evening Everyfriend!  Thank goodness, I haven't gone blind yet!  I hope it isn't too long before Gloria feels like saying "Hello"!  I sure do miss here!

I made a great supper tonight but I'm not going to go any further than that because I don't want to make anyone feel neglected.  I am going to say that part of it was a pint of AMY's idea for canned potatoes.  I drained them, washed them, dried them off and put them in a dish with a tiny bit of olive oil and some onion powder and pepper (no salt), shook them to coat and put them in the air fryer for 8 minutes.  They were delish!

I don't know what I'm going to talk about in here since cooking is about the only thing I enjoy doing any more.  And I really don't want those of you on special diets to back off.

Now I'm going to take Mickie out one more time and head for the haystack!  Cooper won't be coming until 7:30 tomorrow so we won't have to get up in the dark tomorrow.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, snow-free fun day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

CALLIE, not sure about the driving plans but will let you know if we are going to pass near you.  IF not this time, hopefully we will have more opportunities in the future.  It would be great to see you again.  Megan our DIL was so excited to see a Brahms in AR.

AMY, happy you saw Gloria checking in.....hope she is able to come in and chat with us soon.  We sure have missed her.

JANE, I hope you will not stop telling us about all your cooking and canning.....I for one sure enjoy ready what you have to share with us.

SANDY, happy to read you are doing well and feeling so much better.  You have such will power and it serves you well.

PATRICIA, hang in there and take care of you!  You are entitled to be a PITA!

Heading off to bed.  Pleasant dreams.

Good morning..

Tad chilly out there with a temp of -6° but it is to be a nice sunny day. A day of rest here, just need to run into town and pick up a couple of items for my friend.

Jenny, safe trip and looking forward to hearing about it when you get back home.

Jane, love hearing what you prepare!!I do have the fixins for the chicken all but the chicken and will be trying that one next. Talked with David and said I had wanted scalloped potatoes but no potatoes and he told me about the boxed Betty Crocker ones. I did pick a box up and they aren't bad.......not as good as home made but still good.As you know they also have canned potatoes and don't keep fresh ones in the house.

Sandy , I don't mind some baked veggies but not my brussel sprouts..I like them sautéed in olive oil ,butter and bacon bits.

Better shake a leg and get with the program.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This has been one heckuva morning already.  I'd almost given up on Cooper but he showed up.  Frankie is definitely going to be late for work today!  But I think she must be doing a good job.  And I think they have a "forgiven" late time.  Maybe she makes it under the wire.

OK, with my potatoes for supper, I made fried red cabbage with onions and I had a ready-made shrimp patty from Davy's.  It was absolutey delicious and I have three more meals in the fridge...2 will go in the freezer and I'll eat one for supper tonight.

This morning, I've already fed two doggies and taken them for walks, made dog food, cooked 3 pounds of ground turkey to use for dog food, packed the turkey in bags the size I need for a batch of dog food, washed up all the dishes and put them away, put out the trash, and heaved a huge sigh of relief.

JENNY, I hope you have a lovely trip and when you're packing, don't forget to pack the face masks!  And don't forget to use them on the trip.  I know you're vaccinated but you never know who you're going to meet and where they've been.

I think I was a little hasty in welcoming Spring last week.  Our overnight low for tonight is predicted to be 14º and the highs are only to be in the high 20s all week.  I migh have to wash my "muxey" winter jacket before Spring comes.

Nice to see AMY and LLOYD this morning.

I wish Everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning. Our winter weather has been snowy here, there, and everywhere. We broke all records in October with 18 inches and hadn't looked back.

Jane, cooking, organizing, and decorating is my thing, and I have the bookshelves and Kindle to prove it. I may be on a special diet, but I've been doing workarounds for years. So, please, don't stop on my account. The only real difference is I don't use mixes.

Jenny, I had to laugh as I skipped some words in your post as I thought at first, you said I was an entitled PITA.   :2funny: Loved it!

Amy, I have my olive oil in a spray bottle and use that for oil. The last time I prepped, I had three large rimmed sheet pans, one of the carrots, onions, sliced potatoes; chicken, and one of sliced moose meat.   I placed everything on foiled pans, lightly sprayed with oil, and sprinkled with kosher salt and dried mushrooms.

After baking, everything was divided up into meal-sized amounts and frozen.

 :hb2: Welcome home, Gloria! :hb2:

Gloria, when you get a chance to talk more, I'm looking for tips on how to get muscle strength back. I have a feeling the bones in my knees are not as bad as the lazy muscles around the joints. Sounds like you've had good care & nice welcome home from the kids. Will tell you that I was worried and please tell Regina how much her messages meant to all of us.

Daughter is off to see her grands for a few minutes & then back with me. Plan is to go to bed super early so we can be up at 4:00 am to shower & get ready to be at the surgery place by 6:00. Sure hope the doctor is awake~~  Also hope I don't have to sit there for hours stewing, either.
Walked down to the river with the cats, they are not at all happy with a house guest as I am letting them stay outside while it is nice & trying to convince them that whole world outside is one big litter box!

I had a look under the leaves in the flower bed by the walk.... was shocked to see the bud of a jonquil that looks like it could open in DAYS. Guess it didn't hurt to leave the leaves over them & now will be a couple weeks before I can do yard work (so directions say in all my paper work.) Next Sunday the time will change & I do hate that job of changing the clocks that don't do it on their own. Will have to see if next surgery is also 6:00 am 'cause that will really do a body shock to be up & out of the house by 5:30 am.... might as well just flip my days & nights.

Better go baby the cats a little, they don't know what to make of me paying attention to someone other than them..... ;)

Shirley, best wishes and prayers for tomorrow. When all is said and done you will likely tell us
it was a piece of cake!! I do think the hardest part is doing what the Drs say...no bending no lifting..but for the short period of time you can do it.

Now the day is over....

It's a RED LETTER day!  GLORIA'S back!  HOORAY!!

I'm ready for the haystack!  My sister called around 9:30 and we just hung up!  Everything from the 40s, 50s and 60s has been gone over and put in place and we laughed until we choked at some of the stuff our kids did when they were little!

Now I'm going to hit the haystack so I can be ready to face tomorrow.  It's going to be cold again tomorrow but if there's no wind like today it won't be so bad.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, snow-free tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Prayers go with you tomorrow, SHIRLEY!

Temp on the way up this week but slow to start this morning at -11°F
Hubby has blood work this morning and friends are coming this afternoon to drop off items and pick up items we picked up for them. Phone calls need to be made about up coming appointments and that is about it.

Shirley, thinking about you today.

Gloria, hope you had a good nights sleep in your own bed .Yvette will be so happy to see you tomorrow!

Phyllis and Joy hope all is well your way..

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Mickie and I are up but "attem" stayed in bed!  We're waiting for the boinger for breakfast and then a nice walk and then we'll think about what needs to be done....and if we come up with something, we might just ignore it unless it really hollers at us.

Frankie is off today and she said she might stop by for a visit.  Maybe the two of us will go down to Davy's and pick up some odds and ends if she feels like it.

It's sounds kind of like "one of those days" coming up.

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Thinking of SHIRLEY and praying for her!

I'm up, the sun is up, and Gloria is back home so it is a very good day.  I was so happy to see you here, Gloria, and sounding so good.  Of course, your kids love you!

Shirley may have already had her surgery by now and I'm certain she is doing just fine and marveling at the beautiful color of the world.  Hope we hear from her soon.

Take care, All.

Good morning Gloria! It was very nice to see your post. Welcome back! I, too, am thinking of Shirley this morning and hoping to hear back when she feels up to it.

We're back on the upswing this morning at 17° and snow likely all week. I don't think I've ever seen the amount of humidity and snow we've had this winter. Other than that, nothing new or newsworthy today.

I just stopped in to see who was around and there was GLORIA and there was GLORIA...again!  I think she's trying to make up for lost time and that's OK with me!  Come back as much as you want to, whenever you want to.  We love you!  And we missed you!

PHYLLIS, I sent a jar of your 15 bean soup to my SIL.  My daughter doesn't like it but he does and his mother used to make good bean soup so we'll see how he liked this.

My left palm itches like crazy.  My grandmother used to say (like everyone else) when you're palm itches you're going to get money but if it was your left palm you wouldn't get to keep it.  Unfortunately, it's my left palm!

I got a few odds and ends done this morning and then I had lunch and took Mickie for a looong walk and now I'm quitting!  Unless something really bugs me later.   I hope SHIRLEY is doing alright and obeying orders.  I'm sure it all went well but I'm still keeping her in my prayers.

One down & one to go!

Not without at least one glitch... stuff they were using to numb or paralyze the eye had no effect, seems I forgot to mention that Novocaine didn't work & neither did the stuff today. It's only been about 60 years since last time I had Novocaine. :D  :-[   ....but something else did work. The BP was still over the top high so whatever they did took it down about 30-40 points fast enough to go on with the surgery. Got a clear patch over the eye & already BOTH eyes are seeing well enough to walk around, eat & even had a short nap. No sleep at all last night, kept thinking of things to take care of but still can't sleep today because of phone calls. Dr's office to see if I'm doing okay & pharmacy to say prescription ready for next week's surgery. Need to feed cats, they are upset with someone in the house full time.... at least nice enough for Tom & Callie to be outside, Tiger still doesn't want to go out.  Thank you ALL for the prayers and good wishes. Won't y'all be glad when this is all over & I'll shut up about it????

Gloria, so glad to see you here... smiles all around.  And all the rest of you keeping us afloat... hugs and thank yous .  Love, Shirley

:cheer:  :jump:  :happydance: Shirley!

I agree with Amy.  Don't try to do your 'usual busyness' for at least 24 hours.  The cats will survive and everything else will wait for you.  :smitten:

If I could reach that far, I'd be patting myself on the back.  Today I have finished (finally!) getting pictures and written stuff refiled from having been pulled out of this album and that scrapbook to do some family history stories.  This chore had been bugging me for I-don't-know-how-long and it's taken me several days to get it all done.

Then I went out to fill the suet feeders - and found two daffodils in bloom. The ones that had been peeking through got nipped by the recent snow/low temps but these weren't up far enough.  I saw fat buds on several others.  Yay!

Also found a bird feeder I'd forgotten about and filled it with safflower seed from the tube feeder I'd had those in -which wasn't letting the seeds drop into the feeding holes. I don't think squirrels like safflower seeds but this one does have the bar that comes down if they manage to get on it.
Lots of squirrelly glares at the window and tail swishes because I had already managed to fix the one with sunflower seeds so they absolutely cannot get to those.

And then I walked to the mailboxes at the end of the block for the second time in several months.  Either the weather or the temperature had made it way too easy to hop in the car and drive down/back.
A neighbor was going at the same time and it was so nice to have an in-person conversation.

And that's what's going on in my little corner of the world.

Time to bid you all Good Night!

SHIRLEY! I'm so glad to hear that you're home and finished with one eye!  I thought it was probably the easiest surgery that I every had and I was hoping that you would too.  Now get some rest (you do know what that means, don't you? You sit on a chair or the sofa with your feet up and let someone else wait on you!) Or you can lie on the sofa or the bed!

CALLIE, you're so organized!  It would take me a lot longer than three days to reorganize!  In fact, I don't think I've ever been organized in my life!

I'm heading for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night and may God bless us, every one!

Forgot to say that I saw my first ROBIN this morning and it was sitting on the ground!  That's a sure sign of Spring.  If it's flying, Spring is still a bit off..  And the temp is headed for 57 today!
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for March 1, 2021

Feels like Spring here, too.  And my daffodils are in bloom, as well.  New green leaves are growing on the azaleas and hydrangeas and I'm sneezing.  The weather news is beginning to put out the pollen count for the day.  Yes, it is definitely Spring!

Shirley, instead of thinking about the one thing that went wrong (?) just think about how easy it was and tell us what beautiful colors you are seeing with that new lens.  And think how great it will be with both eyes seeing all that beautiful Spring color.

Jane, that Bean Recipe is well-traveled.  I hope your SIL liked it.

Take care, All.

Terrific Tuesday (thanks, Callie) to all.  Sun is bright & to get to nearly 80 today & tomorrow, but the wind is wild. Go for a visit with the surgeon this afternoon to get the "blind" removed. My daughter has been razzing me about the tape they put on the eyebrow & "they'll pull the eyebrow off with the tape".  I do hope they have something that will ease that glue off without taking what little "fur" is left. My brows were thick & black but have gotten thiner/finer & salt & pepper color. I was so shocked at my driver's license photo I nearly fainted... just don't look in a mirror enough to recognize the changes.

Anyway, we've had breakfast. Tiger finally came to tell Julie-Ellen she wasn't upset with her being here anymore, even walked under her chair & hummed so she would pet her. That's a first. Tom & Callie stayed out all night (low was upper 40s), so they ate breakfast & Tom headed to the basement to sleep & Callie wanted back outside. She has a fav spot to sleep in front of the house across the street, where the sun is warm & their house & shrubs block the wind. Tiger just got on my lap, something they never do, to be hugged for a few minutes. All's well in their world again.

The kids plan to put the trug together on Thurs.afternoon/evening so I promised "biscuits, gravy, bacon & eggs" (their fav meal) and the other 2 "girls" will come to eat with us. Since it takes at least 7 bags of soil to fill, I'm hoping they will get that done before dark since I think I would have trouble lifting those bags up to put in. We have an Ace hardware "around the corner" to get the dirt but I want to re-read the tips on the link from Amy about filling & things NOT to do.

Well, Julie-Ellen is off to walk a couple miles at the park, stop at the donut shop to bring home the goodies & we will chill & snack before going to see the doctor to get this patch taken off... and see if I lose an eyebrow in the process! I never "plucked" my eyebrows so we'll see how this works, will have to wait a week for the matching pair.  ::)

Oh, Phyllis, forgot to mention that so far the new eye is so bright the colors are almost in a "white-out"... color not as strong as the other eye. Good news is without glasses the detail at a distance is so good I'm wondering if I will need glasses at all, but since the contract with the optometrist calls for glasses, I'll have them make prescription sunglasses if nothing else. Have to wait & see. Did I mention I am delighted???  Not worried about the next one since they do know to use something other than Novocaine to quiet my eye. She was scratching around in the eye & shocked when I flinched.... while I am tough, could not handle that! Took my BP this morning & was 144 over 60... normal for me is 170s over 60-70, so I am a slug, half dead!

Jane, our male robins showed up a week or so ago & now the females are here & they are chasing. I do think the house finches have already built nests since they were checking out the light fixtures for a couple weeks & decided too many cats around here so off building somewhere else.

Gloria, did the witch welcome you back with open arms?  ;)  ;D  It will be so nice to have Yvette back & the two of you can cook up a storm, laugh & giggle & enjoy the catching up.

Okay, Amy, I will be back with questions when they start on the trug... isn't this a great time of year?

Sandy, you are right about seeing so much better. Maybe it takes losing something to truly appreciate what we have. I've thought about my father's crack after his cataract surgery. Was only a day or two after when I got there & he held out his arm and said, "see that chigger?"  My comment was, "Oh, Dad".... and he came back with, "did you see it blink?"  Not sure if you've ever had a chigger bite, but can't see them at all but their bite goes on & on...

The socket around the eye is sore this morning, like a sucker punch... so will give it a rest before our trip across town this afternoon. We decided we'd pick up specialty hamburgers not far from the doctor's office & bring home for our "lupper". We both love food so are thoroughly enjoying each day. Thank goodness we aren't bad for gaining weight although that BP med has put some puffy around my middle this week. Don't get this much rounder in several days from eating! But not swelling as much as with the other BP med a few years ago. I will wean my body off it after next surgery!

Thanks again for all the prayers & kind words. Y'all said it was a miracle when done, to see so much better & you were right. Even with this patch (clear plastic) bubble over the repaired eye, sight is so much better than before. I am elated & relieved no problem with any meds yet.

Shirley, when I had mine done, the tape they used did NOT pull out my eyebrow. It was very simple and painless to remove.

Glad you've got that one and done!  Here's to great vision!  The first time you look at the TV, the colors will astound you!

Shirley, so glad you're pleased with the cataract surgery. (Do we get to say "told ya so..."  ;))

Gloria, I suspect your family will appreciate those picture discs in future years even if they don't act interested now.

Jane, just because I've managed to organize one thing doesn't mean everything else is.  ;D

Have some errands to do today.  Need to - as Amy would say - "put an egg in my boot and beat it".

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.

OH SHIRLEY, it's so good to hear all the nice things you have to say about the surgery!  You really are going to be happy with it!

In addition to the two robins walking on the ground (a sure sign of Spring) I saw and heard more signs while I was out.  The road crews are out repairing winter's damage to the country roads already.  Davy's Greenhouse is FILLED with flowers and Spring plantings and I heard the geese honking on the nearby pond.  Spring is definitely SPRINGING!

PHYLLIS, I haven't heard from my SIL about the soup but my daughter is coming over today and if he ate it, she'll be returning the jar.  I'll let you know.

Please no more excitement for today!! Woke up to find that Kyle had burnt his hand..he was putting a piece of newspaper in the stove in the garage when it caught on fire that also caught his rubber glove on fire!! Dealt with the burns on his hands and then had to go into town to get my hair cut. First one since last Spring and it sure felt good. New hairdresser..a man...but golly does he know his work! Came home made lunch and then took Kyle out to town. Before I went for my appointment I stopped and picked up a bench grinder for him, one bigger than the one he has and powerful.

Now to bake bread..

You'all are making me green with envy as you are seeing flowers come up.our are under 2 feet of snow yet and robins in your yard. Our crows are back but it will be some time before we see any sign of robin.

Better go get the bread started..

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Shirley ...

I am so glad to hear some good news
from you about your cataract surgery !!

Considering all of the issues that you
run into with most procedures,  having
this surgery go well is wonderful!!

You take care and rest up ...
Congratulations!.

I am still eating only low sodium
foods...     As I said,  the only way
I could do that was to get rid
of all the processed foods in my cupboards ...

And yes,  I miss them,  but my weight has stabilized
and droping now very slowly by only
illuminating  sodium, keeps me able to
continue with this type of diet.

My Blood pressure has dropped down
to a low normal  and my heart rate is a steady
70 - 80  beats per minute..   Which has
prevented me from having to stop and catch  my breath
(symptom of heart failure) less and less.

Yes,  I would love to go eat something loaded
with sodium,  but my body is telling me
not to.    And I think that it knows best.

Have a good day everyone.
Sandy

Frankie is speniding the night with me tonight and everything is different when she does that.  It's not bad, it's just different!  She's gone to bed for a while but she'll be up roaming in the middle of the night and that never bothers me expecially since Mickie never hears her so she doesn't wake me.

I'm finishing up a few chores and then heading for the haystack.  Tomorrow is my daughter Cathy's birthday and they're picking me up around 4:30 to have dinner with them at their house tomorrow.  It will just be the 3 of us tomorrow but I suspect her son and his best girl will be up over the weekend!

PHYLLIS, Craig said the soup was great and he loved it!  I guess I know where to send some the next time I make it!  Frankie is going to take one out of the freezer home with her tomorrow and we'll see how she likes it then.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and lots of signs of Spring tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

Love this weather we are having double digit temps too!

Taking hubby on a drive so he won't be tempted to work in the shop. He has 5 blisters on his hand one bigger than a silver dollar.  We will hit the cheese and chocolate factories :)

Shirley glad to see all is well ,gosh your eye sight will be that great that you will be able to see a monarch butterfly hitching a ride  on a Canada goose!

Jane, Happy birthday to Cathy..know you will enjoy time spent with Frankie.

Where is Lloyd??? Same with Phyllis and Joy??? Hope they all show up today.

Better get my duds on and get on the road.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It was a busy morning here today, too. First and formost, I have one little coffee pot and I drink decaf and Frankie drinks regular coffee.  So I was up and made my coffee and drank it while I made dog food for Mickie (Cooper's food was already made).  Then Frankie hit the floor and had to be ready to leave for work by 7:15 so the rest of my coffee is waiting in another cup to be warmed up later and hers is in her travel mug and took off with her.  She doesn't eat breakfast before work but has it on her first break.

After she left, both doggies were ready for a walk and I was ready for a nap!  It's been a while since I got someone off to work.

The temps are supposed to get into the low 60s today and I'm in favor of that!

GLORIA, it's so good to see you posting again and we don't even care if your keyboard works or if it doesn't.  We're just happy you feel like posting!

I better get on my "horse" and get something done around here before I have to get ready to go celebrate Cathy's birthday later.  Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning, nothing new here, but our temps are in the twenties and thirties and still snowing off and on. I'm so glad to see you back with us; Gloria and Yvette will be back with you today. And Amy, poor Kyle, burns are serious business! I hope he heals quickly and carefully!

patricia19 I can tell you first hand whet to Have Kyle do for his burns. I had a accident with gas and burns over 80% of my body, first degree. you  could take hold Of a end of skin and peal it from you Botox to your ankle, and get ahold of another and do same thing. the treatment was silverer dean. my skin is still onion skin thin. can bump something so light you do not feel it, and look down and the blood is streaming down fast. but the hair grew back. you can get
you can get silverer dean at wall mart or any good drug store. go for it.

A good Wednesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.  I am sorry I have not been in to see how everything is going, but this Nana has been star struck by her Jonah Boy. He is such a delightful little guy and I have been having so much fun with him🥰🥰

OH how nice it is to see the posts from you, GLORIA!  So happy to have you at home and posting to us!

SHIRLEY, happy for you that the cataract surgery went well and you are ohhing and awhing over how well you can see!  Enjoy the time with Julie-Ellen.

AMY, so very sad to read about Kyle burning his hand....ouch😢 I hope it is feeling much better each and every day.

JANE, I packed plenty of masks and we made sure we were double masked for the time at the airport and on the plane.....all were full of non distancing people and it felt a bit daunting....we are SO THANKFUL we had our shots.....it did make it feel a bit more bare able.

The kids have been packing away and the movers are to come tomorrow to pick up their things.  We have kept the boy entertained.....well, let's be honest, the boy has kept us entertained and it has allowed mama and daddy to get the work done!

We are going to leave here tomorrow and drive to Phoenix to see my dad....I am very anxious to see him.  Mark and Family will drive in to Phoenix on Sunday and see my dad, then we all will take off in three vehicles headed for NW Arkansas on Monday!

You all take care and I will be back to check on you when I can.

Jenny

Good morning...

Overcast here with the threat of rain later today.
We had a great day yesterday touring the country side. Stopped at the cheese factory and picked up hubby's cheese then onto the chocolate factory . He stocked up there and I stopped at a store and picked up solar lights for our lighthouse .

Not sure what today will bring just taking it as it comes, would like to do a few chores that need doing but will see.

Lloyd, thank you for the burn remedy. He has been putting aloe vera on it to keep the blisters soft.

Jane, just talked with David, he shopped in YOUR WM last night!!! Hope you enjoyed your time with Cathy and family.

Patricia, Kyles has blisters on both hands  the one on his left hand/thumb is the largest. A lesson learnt for sure.

Jenny, sounds like you are having an awesome time with your family.Did you get any picture of Jonah you can share?

Gloria, bet you enjoy sleeping in your own bed and eating all the good food that has been prepared for you.

Shirley, how are you?

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 46º outside right now and heading for a high of 70 today!  I love it!

AMY, I wonder if David spent the night in my WM parking lot?  A lot of truckers do.  If he's coming this way and the time is right, I'd love to say a face-to-face "hello" to him.  He has my cell phone number and could text.

Cathy's birthday party was nice.  Both her kids called while I was there and she put them on speaker phone.  Kyle is in Philadelphia and Natalie is in Texas.  It was the next best thing to having them home.

Cathy's getting her first COVID shot today.  They['re doing the at ConAgra where my SIL works and they had some extras so offered them to immediate family members who were old enough.  She got in!  My second one is tomorrow afternoon.

Now I have to "get a wiggle on" and get something done around here.  Frankie will be here to pick up Cooper around 2:30 since she went so early this morning.  He spent the night with us because she had to leave for work at 4:30 a.m.

I wish everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good to see everyone checking today.  Most of the old familiar names.

I'm still shuddering over Kyle's burns, Amy.  Glad he is getting better.  I'm a fan of Aloe, too.

My David got his second shot yesterday and all went well.  His arm was a little sore last night but he didn't seem to feel any other side effects.  I'm relieved that it is over for the both of us but still plan to be cautious about going out and about.

Take care, All.

The temp is 54° at the moment, light breeze blowing which will hopefully dry up the water. Went to the neighbours and did Rex's nails for him . Will do Babes next..only she isn't as good as what he is.

Jane, I will tell him that, I think he was nipping in for a few things then on his way. I gave the neighbour a jar of the potatoes to try as she may want to can some also.

Gloriaaaaa......did you go back to bed or are you just enjoying being home with Yvette?

Back to work...

Had to make a run to the eye doc & called my primary doc this morning.... eye was running water & hurt like crazy even with dark glasses on & daughter said it was very red. I was afraid to call the eye doc since I was in for my next day check up on Tues & was okay. Turns out she thinks the antibiotic eye drops were causing irritation so changed them, said the repair still looked okay so the primary doc sent a script for antibiotic because of infection in sinuses from allergies going amuck. Hope the infection will clear up for the surgery on other eye next Mon. Been a busy day. I invited Andy & Pam over to visit with Julie-Ellen & fixed scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, biscuits & gravy. All cleaned up & cleared out. Other son had too much going on so will get a visit with them some time next week (Julie-Ellen says she is staying until I can drive.) Cats are not happy that they aren't the center of my attention, but bet they will come inside when it starts raining tomorrow!

Jenny, I'm waiting for you to post a photo of the kid.... safe travels.

Phyll, glad David got his last shot & was breezing along reading posts & realize Amy has a David in her life.  ???  Funny how the mind catches little things some times... right now the bright computer light hurts my eyes so just skimming.

So nice to see what everyone is doing but my eyes are starting to water so I better get off. I tried with dark glasses but still get sore. Do hope all's well with everyone, one more week of this & hopefully can get back to normal.

We all walked down to the river with a little bread.... some of the fish are back & Andy fed them for me. They were surprised how big the catfish was. Not sure how many they saw, but I saw a couple carp. It is almost funny how much damage the beaver made...

I'm off to bed early, was not restful/peaceful last night & hope no problems tomorrow. Sweet dreams & God Bless.

Good Evening,

Shirley, those darned antibiotics gotcha again, huh?  Hope everything is okay for other eye to be done on Monday.
Yum-oh (as Rachael Raye would say) at that breakfast! Enjoy the visit with your "kinfolks".

Jenny,  certainly understand if your caravan doesn't stop in OKC.  Glad you're not driving back to Denver -  4 feet of snow????  Yikes!

Well, I've done it!  Son took me this afternoon to get the Johnson/Johnson vaccine.  My Handicap card allowed me the choice of going in (one of those large sites) or staying in the car and getting the shot there.  I chose to stay in the car and was very impressed with the smooth organization of the procedure.
A girl came to get my information and then wrote the # of our turn and the type of vaccine on the windshield. We had to sit there for 15 minutes after I had the injection and that nurse wrote the time we could leave on the windshield.
Someone came to check on me about every 5 minutes and, when our wait time was up, she cleaned all the numbers, etc. off the windshield and sent us on our way.

Sons had had a good time teasing me that, if I was a "Good Girl", I could have ice cream.  We stopped at Braum's on the way home.  ;D

Arm isn't sore - so far - but info says the day after is usually when reactions, if any, set in.  So we shall see what tomorrow brings.

Hope Everyfriend has had an enjoyable day and will sleep well with pleasant dreams.

Hello to all you wonderful people!  Today was such a beautiful day out there (it got up to 72 for about 4 hours this afternoon) and it was in the high 50s and 60s on it's way there and on it's way back down to 45 for a low.  I was out in the yard with the doggies and I decided to start yard cleanup.  It's going to take a while because I only got around one section of holly bushes and about 5 square feet of yard and I was ready to quit.  And it took me forever!  I guess tomorrow's another day!

AMY, I'm ok for cutting Mickie's toenails but I need someone to cut mine.  Frankie is pretty good at it if I remember when she's here but I usually think of it right after she leaves.  Cathy will do it but I don't think she likes it so I don't ask her very often.  I just can't manage the clippers at the right angle to cut.  My fingers are all "anyhow" and don't want to cooperate.

My supper was leftovers from the birthday party last night.  I always have a "take home" dish when I eat at Cathy's house.  It's nice!

CALLIE, that was nice that they came out to give you your shot in the car.  I don't think they were doing that here but I'm sure going to look the next time I go.  And I might tell them what you said.  They were very efficient where they did mine.  It was at the local hospital and we really didn't have to walk very far.  And we didn't have to wait very long either.  My appt was at 4:15 and we were home by 5.  I live about 5 minutes from the hospital.  I can see it from my house.

I'm off to the haystack.  I'm really sleepy for some reason today.  Maybe because Frankie picked up Cooper right about the time I'd have been drifting off for my nap.  I didn't have even a shortie today.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Springlike tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

Jane, now you're not talking to yourself. :) With the high winds last night (at least I am blaming them) we lost our power. Babe needs her nails done and I do hers like you would clean a horses hoof. Not an easy job with her. Jesse just doesn't like his done but if he is beside me he wants to hold paws/hands so if he snoozes.....he looses a nail or two :))

We had high winds and rain and it really gave the snow a beating.  I would imagine the trees are being tapped now as the sap will be running soon.

Shirley, hope the new meds help and your on the way to recovery. Phyllis and I both have a son David.

Callie, good to see you were a good girl and got the reward of Braums!!

Not sure what today will bring...just know  it will happen.

Hear crows calling or rather cawing for their breakfast....better go feed them.

Enjoy your day and stay safe,

Good Morning.....again!  I've had breakfast, done a few odd jobs, took a shower and put on clean clothes and I'm ready for the day!

Yesterday, we had rain but it was a nice, gentle Spring rain and it melted almost all of the rest of the snow.  It was coupled with temps in the low 70s so they worked together.  About the only places there is any snow left is where the plows deposited extra.

I'm going to make a quick trip to the Fairview Country Store this morning.  I need two things that they carry and no one else seems to.  So I'm going to go around 10 when the sun is high enough that it doesn't bother my eyes and I'll be back before lunch.

I don't think I'll check my BP today because I can feel the tension in my body since this is the day for my second Covid shot!  I'm a bit nervous.  And we sure didn't sleep welll last night!  Mickie decided that "gettin' up time" was 4:31 a.m.  And she proved she was right!  I tried to go back to bed but she was restless and I couldn't go back to sleep.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

It is sunny right now but rain is supposed to come back this evening.  Temp will be in the mid-70's.  That's all right with me.

Sorry a sinus infection is complicating things for you, Shirley.  Hope it clears up soon.  My allergies are kicking in pretty much, too, but so far no infection.....fingers crossed.  Yep, Amy and I both have sons named David and I'm sure her David is a good guy, too, just like mine is.

Grocery pick-up today and a little "nest scratching" and that is all I have planned.  I have set out the lentils and the kielbasa so maybe today I'll finally get to that soup.....maybe.

Glad to hear that you got "shot", Callie.   :2funny:   You deserved a stop at Braums.  Wish we had one of those here.

Take care, All.

Good afternoon EVERYFRIEND 💐

We arrived safely at my Dads last evening, however they have not had internet here for over a week now, so I could not get online.  Bob went and bought a new router and finally got them up and running a few minutes ago.  Yippee!

My Dad was so happy to see us......and we were so happy to see him.  He is very confused where we have been and why.  We have told him many times about Mark moving but he just can't comprehend it.  He is so thin and has slept a lot off and on today.  He will chat for a bit them I look up and he is sleeping 😴😩

Mark is having issues with the moving company.  They were coming last Wednesday, then two different times yesterday.....then first stop this morning......STILL NOT THERE.  They are getting concerned🧐🧐
Mark just called.....they are beside themselves.....movers now say tomorrow.....this is getting very concerning.....

Diane and her daughter got their Covid Vaccine this morning, but my Dad does not want to go out to get one.  We are trying to find someone that might come here to the house to no avail 😩😤  We are not sure if that can ever happen.  He can hardly move around with his walker and going any distance is not possible.

CALLIE, you are the first person I know that received the Johnson Vaccine.  YEA, only one shot!

SHIRLEY, I am sad you are having some issues with your eye.  I hope the new drops will be the end of the problems.

DIL Michele got her first shot yesterday but had to dive to a hospital over 2 hours away!

IAMY, I did put a new picture of my Jonah Boy on here. I have a couple of videos that I would love to share....I have been thinking about Kyles burnt hand.....it sounds pretty serious and .I hope he can avoid a infection.

Take care ......more later!

Jenny

Jenny, was admiring that darling little boy... he is SO cute & bet has a personality to match. One visit with my father he slept off & on all the time so I complained to my sister (who was in charge of taking them to the doctors). They took him off his BP med and he was fine, even thru the 3 months Mom was in the hospital dying. We would ask a nurse to check his BP and it was always just fine without those BP pills. Know not everyone's problem but would it hurt to cut pills in half to see if it made a difference?  In the few days I've been taking my BP is so far down I cut the pill in half tonight because I'm dragging, breathing like I am asleep. BUT, got to keep it down for the other surgery next Monday. Do hope you can help him while there.

Callie, my daughter just got back from getting the single shot. HER daughter discovered how to get into the right system & also have Andy set for the shot on Sunday. Daughter even had a call this afternoon asking if she could come early & was sorry she didn't take me in (I don't dare), they had doses that would have to be tossed if not used by a certain time. Kansas seems to be on top of this. Daughter had the ONE shot. Her husband is so relieved she got it since she is  taking me to the clinics. They didn't have a problem that she lives in St.Louis...

The new eye med turned out to not work, eyes not nearly as clear as yesterday & since I am on an antibiotic that does work, we didn't do the drop tonight. Had Julie-Ellen look up side effects & sure enough... I had 'em all. I have a new med to start on Sunday so hopefully it will be okay for the days to get me thru... At least the doctor now believes this isn't all in my head! :-\
I did do the driving today & passed the test, but Julie-Ellen was watching close to make sure I saw every car, light & corner.  :2funny:

I boiled the cats a chicken thigh tonight, just salt & clove of garlic. Tom & Callie weren't excited. Tom ate a few bites & drank the broth but Callie wouldn't touch it, Tiger ate her dish full. It has rained off & on last night & today, raining again so cats will stay inside tonight. I bought 2 packages of thighs because that's what everyone likes better than breasts... wanted to see if the cats would eat since they are so picky about food. They don't like anything more than 2 days in a row so a constant worry. They always have the dry Indoor Delight Friskies in bowls all over the house, so do not go hungry. Right now Callie is sitting in the toy box, she does that to make me feel sorry for her (I think). Can't be comfy with those lumps under her! Nice clean bed right next to the toy box.

Looking back over the posts & again thought Jonah looks just like you.... if 20 photos in a pile I could pick his to be related to you, for sure.

Eyes are starting to give out, sweet dreams to all. God Bless and keep you safe. Kyle, do hope the hand is better by now. Stay out of trouble, you, too... Lloyd!   Shirley

Is Jonah's pic over in photos?  I didn't see any mention of it.  I'll go check when I'm finished here.

I got my second shot this afternoon and had no reaction so far.  It isn't even a tiny bit sore around the shot spot.  Cathy has texted me 4 times to ask if I'm OK.  She stuck around for about an hour after we came back and then made me promise to call her if any reactions started.

Now I'm off to the haystack!  Cooper won't be arriving until around 8:30 tomorrow so if Mickie doesn't have an urgent call, we can sleep in a bit.  The weather has been so warm that I think tomorrow will be bed changing day so I can take one blanket off and put it away for the summer.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and another Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I made the lentil soup and it was really good.  I was surprised that the bright red lentils (uncooked) turned a light yellow when cooked.  I've used lentils a lot but this was the first time I've used the red ones.  It seemed to me they had a slightly sweeter taste but were really good.  I'm glad we liked it because I made a BIG pot.

Cloudy today and cooler.  I enjoyed the sunny days while we had them but we do need rain from time to time.  We don't want them to start putting up the fire watches quite yet.

Take care, All.

Good Morning,

No reaction to vaccination yet.  Not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between that and the usual "squeaks and creaks", though. ;)

Jenny, Carson met someone from a construction company in Bentonville AR at a recent Job Fair on campus.  He went over yesterday for an interview and, while he was driving back, he got an e-mail offering him a job after graduation.
I told him about your son and he wondered if he could get free golf lessons. ;D
He really liked the Bville company but has also had contact with a company in Tulsa so may wait a bit to see if they follow up with a live interview.

Edit: just realized your son is going to Springdale not Bentonville. ,That would be close enough for Carson to drive over for golf.😉

Learned this morning on Facebook that Dr. Emily is now "in a relationship"!!  I knew she'd been seeing someone for a while but didn't realize it was getting to this point.  (Not sure I want to know what "in a relationship" means these days!!!)

Going to be a wet weekend so am glad three e-books I'd had on Hold have come in. Laundry to do first.

Hope Everyone has an Enjoyable Day.

Laundry blowing on the line, should be dry now. Bread and cinnamon buns in the oven and a pot of baby lima beans in the instant pot.

Although the temp has come up it is still a  chilly 26° I heard ,then saw our first red winged blackbird!!!

Jane, did you go back to bed???

Callie, young love is special..remember when???

Better go check the bread..

Good morning from an Interior at minus 29°. At least the snow has temporarily stopped with the cooler temperatures. Spring here is ugly as it is a thirty-day period of runoff, browns, and grays and then that elusive sign of green in the trees before an hour where the whole earth or at least our portion of it simultaneous greens. Usually, the snow is gone by Easter, but this record-smashing winter snowfall isn't melting anytime soon.

My good news is after thirty days of pain, solitude, and bed rest, I can see an end to this. Instead of the pain radiating through my entire left side and guzzling Tylenol, It only hurts if I overdo it in the mornings and I'm thinking of going out sometime next week on my own to do a few neglected errands. No walking or anything too elaborate, taxis both ways but at least it's an end to a very long tunnel!

Patricia, that is good news!! Be very careful ,there could be ice about like here. Our snow has gone down a lot but the ice is about. Minus 29 ° is rather refreshing :) We are to get rain here on Thur so it be said and I can just imagine all the ice!

We turn our clocks ahead tonight...

Yikes! I totally forgot about clock changing. Most will do it on their own but at least half a dozen have to be pushed into changing. Think that is the most dreaded job of the year.

Rain off & on night & day, kinda chilly. Ran out to take trash to dumpster & put seed in the feeder I watch while standing at the sink. Eye still more blurry than the day after surgery so we skipped the eye drops & will start a new type tomorrow for the Monday surgery. I did expect all these problems but does not make them any less irritating.

Julie-Ellen is off for a walk/run before the next rain. She was feeling really bad last night, like she had the flu (from the shot) and still feeling bad this morning. After a nap this am along with a Motrin she is back to her old self. Oops.. there she is, I heard the garage door open. Hope all have a great day.

this has been a topsy-turvy, upside-down day so far!  Cathy stopped by for my shopping list and cards and then back to drop off the "stuff".  As she came in the door my cell phone was ringing and it was Christy, my Maryland daughter, calling to check up on me following my shot.  We had a nice long face-time chat and then she hung up because they were getting where they'd been heading.  Then she called back to to share face-time pictures of the sheep with lambs that a guy has at the farm that her husband's father left them.  They use part of it and rent the rest out.  The house has been turned into apartments.  I think they are both Farmers at heart!

After that, Mickie and I went for another walk just because the day was so nice and then it was getting on towards lunch time.

As for the rest of the day, it just went by!

It sounds like you've all been busy, too!  AMY, when I finish here, I'm looking in the Hidey Hole for a Cinnamon Bun.

And I sure hope PHYLLIS left me a bowl of Lentil Soup.  I've never had that and I'd love to try it!

I'm missing JOY and GLORIA, too!

SHIRLEY, I think you are truly enjoying haveing Julie-Ellen with you!  I wish it were under other circumstances but we have to take what we can get these days.

I took a good look at the picture of JONAH.  He's a real cutie, JENNY!

Now it's time to think about feeding Mickie again and also putting something in my tummy.  I hope everyone's day goes well.

Almost 5 hours since I was here and no one's been around since that.  I guess thats OK since I just came by to tell you that I'm about to hit the haystack and to wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

The wind is back up and temp is sitting at 27° at the moment. A day of rest here, just have to make a trip to the dump and that is it! Last time I didn't see the eagles but maybe this time I will.

Jane, help yourself to the cinnamon buns and there is also cornmeal muffins in the hidy hole as well.

Shirley hope your eye is much better today..

Lloyd, how are you this morning?

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I forgot to set the clocks and apparently so did David.  But, the body woke up when it was ready to anyway.  Who needs clocks?!

Sunny this morning and we didn't get the rain that we were told we would.  No plans for the day so will just take it easy.  I made a Rustic Apple Tart yesterday and it was good.  Still some left and we will have it for today's dessert.

Take care, All.

Good Morning!  From yesterday at 5:19 p.m until this morning at 7:02 a.m. I was the only one around this place.  I scrubbed the counters, tables and floors.  Washed the windows inside and out. I brushed off all the chairs and cleaned the fingerprints off the wall switches.  I even got up on a chair and washed off all the light fixtures.  I empetied out the old coffee and tea and made fresh and checked out the Hidey Hole for goodies.  I toll out all the rugs and shook them good and still no one came in.  You must have all been having a really GOOD or a really BAD day yesterday.  I felt very lonely!

Now I have to go take Mickie for a walk.  It's another beautiful "beginning of Spring" day here and we have to go out and take it in.  It's been a long time.  Still no reaction from the shot.  My arm isn't even a little bit sore.  I recommend Pfizer given by Evangelical Hospital staff.

Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Still having eye issues, no surgery tomorrow, not using the drops required the day before. Been up & down with the drops & repaired eye still worse than the day after surgery. This does not surprise me & why I dreaded so much... can't fake a red eye & tears running down the cheek in only one eye. I did take an aspirin this morning AFTER my daughter saw it, but I'm a believer pain is our way of knowing what & why is wrong, then can cover it up until the remedy is available. No way would I put this other eye in jeopardy until first one cleared up.

Julie-Ellen got her Covid shot & was really hit hard. Her Fitbit showed the reaction her body took for about 24 hours. Heart rate spiked until this morning. Because she has Crohn's she has to be careful. Fitbit showed big change in sleep pattern so not something imagined.

Did I tell you I picked my first daffodil? It sits on the window sill by the sink so I see it all day as I look out the window. Spring has sprung, for sure.

Amy, do your eagles stay year around? We have some that migrate but some all year. The egrets & herons are not back yet, I hope/plan to spend more time out watching the birds when these eyes are working better. We had another shower, maybe several overnight, so pool is full. We also had a 3.5 earthquake that centered near us, quite a double jolt, we were sitting here at the table & felt it (no damage).

Have I missed visits from Gloria?  Can't recall her mentioning if Yvette is back.

So many questions I'm thinking to ask each of you but eyes are not willing to look at this screen any longer. We did dim it down. Jane, I'll try to do better about shouting out when I come in, instead of just reading & thinking comments!  :-[

I was here at 5:15 this morning, but nothing going on and I can't tell from the times messages are supposedly posted what the actual time is.  The only time I recognize is my own time zone, which is now DST in the Central time zone.

The above post says 5:58 PM and it is actually 12:58 PM (noonish) here.

Good Afternoon,

Sun is shining and this is Day 3 of no side effects from vaccination.  I think we can put that subject to rest.  :)

Well, maybe OMT:  Jane, you mentioned a few posts back that someone came out to give me my shot.  Actually, the entire front row of the parking lot was reserved for those who were allowed to wait in their cars.  Two Health Dept. vans were parked nearby with supplies and at least 10 health care workers and several volunteers worked the line of cars very efficiently.

BTW,  thanks for the sparkling clean Shoppe. I was :sleepy: when you were searching for someone to talk to.

Shirley,  I'm so sorry you had to "prove" the effect antibiotics have on you to the doctors.  Do you think maybe being outside was a trigger for the redness and the runny eye?

My daffodils are all in bloom except for the one clump that got nipped by the recent freezing temperatures.  Some of them fell over during the rain yesterday and I think I'll cut them and bring them in the house.
I can do this with daffodils and pansies but hyacinths make me sneeze.

Tome, Wonder if there's a way to set your Profile preferences to show the local time?

I watched church services on t.v., read the paper, unloaded/reloaded the dishwasher and finally managed to pry the cover off the t.v. remote so I could change the batteries.

And that's what's going on in my corner of the world.
Hope Everyfriend is having an enjoyable day.

CALLIE, you must sleep a lot.  I was here 4 times between 5 pm yesterday and 7am this morning and you said you were napping when I was here.  I think I sleep a lot!  Sometimes I wish I could sleep 14 hours in a row but about 4 hours is my limit.  Sometimes I can go back to sleep and sometimes I can't.  P.S.  I don't really think you slept 15 hours!

Fact is, I am in & out of here many times but before I can resize the text someone or a furbaby needs something & I don't get a post posted.  :-[

I am really concerned about Gloria, have I missed her posting?  I have to take glasses OFF to read so limited to how much light they will tolerate before watering down the face/computer.

Callie, the Dr reminded me that "if pollen allergies were the problem, both eyes would be watering".

Did the movers ever get around to pick up Jenny's kids furniture? How's Kyle's hand?  Could do with care packages of all the good foods talked about  :P .........seriously, between what we cook up here & pick up at the drive thrus, we aren't going to lose any weight! And now I need to put the sunglasses back on, eye is leaking.

Jane,  ;D  ;D  Well, no, I wasn't asleep from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 this morning.  More like 1:00a.m. - 8:00 a.m.   Just not on line much after the 10:00 news - too involved in reading e-books.

Shirley,  I realize allergies would affect both eyes.  Just wondered if the eye that was operated on might have gotten irritated by something in the air.

I've spent most of the afternoon reading on the patio.   Was concentrating on e-book when I heard "crow talk". One of the three crows that hang around in the summertime (nicknamed Heckle, Jeckle and Clyde) was perched in a cottonwood tree and the other two were drifting around on wind currents. Eventually, they all three perched in trees and, after "discussing that weird creature in 'their' space", came down to the yard for a bit.
Guess the summer entertainment season has begun.  Soon be time to put out the hummingbird feeder.

Shirley, I am sorry you are going through all this with your eye, hope it gets better and soon. Gloria has been in but didn't  post, I hope she posts tomorrow . She may be having trouble with her keyboard.
Kyle's hand is still blistered,  a huge one on his thumb but I hope it will soon go down.

Callie, the crows that came back here are rather fussy on their eats! I put cracked corn out for them and they turned their beaks up at it!

Joanne, I'm your neighbor Mary in Arlington!  We used to talk on the Book Forum on the old SeniorNet.  I'm not on S&F much but do click in occasionally.

You mentioned the time was wrong on your post.  Go to the upper left corner on this page and click on your name. It takes you to the Forum Profile.  Click on "Look and Layout", go down to "Time Zone" and make sure it says "CDT - Central Time".  At the bottom click on Change Profile.

Hopefully that will fix it.

It's time to head for the haystack!  It's been a rather slow day.  I did a little cooking, some cleaning on the computer, a couple nice walks with Mickie, a little more raking in the yard and not much else.  Oh, yes, I did make a couple of decent meals today and I ate both of them.

SHIRLEY, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with your eyes.  It's usually not that bad.  I hope when you do the other eye, it's easier.

I've been missing GLORIA, too and I've been missing JOY!  I hope they are both OK!  I have phone numbers for both of them and maybe I'll see if I can reach them tomorrow morning.

Right now, I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open so I'm hitting the hay.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, "Springy" tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.
