Creativity -- like human life itself -- begins in darkness. We need to acknowledge this. All too often, we think only in terms of light: "And then the lightbulb went on and I got it!" It is true that insights may come to us as flashes. It is true that some of these flashes may be blinding. It is, however, also true that such bright ideas are preceded by a gestation period that is interior, murky, and completely necessary.

A client recently brought her two cats to my husband's veterinary clinic for their annual checkup. One was a small-framed, round tiger-striped tabby, while the other was a long, sleek black cat.

She watched closely as I put each on the scale.

"They weigh about the same," I told her.

"That proves it!" she exclaimed. "Black does make you look slimmer. And stripes make you look fat."

"Diamonds & Rust"
Written and performed by Joan Baez.

Well I'll be damned
Here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you happened to call
And here I sit
Hand on the telephone
Hearing a voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Heading straight for a fall

As I remember your eyes
Were bluer than robin's eggs
My poetry was lousy you said
Where are you calling from?
A booth in the midwest
Ten years ago
I bought you some cufflinks
You brought me something
We both know what memories can bring
They bring diamonds and rust

Well you burst on the scene
Already a legend
The unwashed phenomenon
The original vagabond
You strayed into my arms
And there you stayed
Temporarily lost at sea
The Madonna was yours for free
Yes the girl on the half-shell
Would keep you unharmed

Now I see you standing
With brown leaves falling around
And snow in your hair
Now you're smiling out the window
Of that crummy hotel
Over Washington Square
Our breath comes out white clouds
Mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me
We both could have died then and there

Now you're telling me
You're not nostalgic
Then give me another word for it
You who are so good with words
And at keeping things vague
Because I need some of that vagueness now
It's all come back too clearly
Yes I loved you dearly
And if you're offering me diamonds and rust
I've already paid

Sorry, I was late to create the new page: I forgot that we already are the 15th!

Late or not, the new page is great!  And it prevents me from having to talk to myself.  Sooooooo, Good Morning BUBBLE and anyone else who sees fit to visit today.  The leprechaun in the first picture looks a little bit like the boy in your family.  Did he model for it?

I have to go get myself ready to take the doggies for a walk.  I'm not looking forward to that today.  The temperatures dipped below freezing overnight and they still haven't come up to Spring temps.  Spring is certainly being fickle around here!  But that's more or less normal.

Mickie has come out of hiding and that means she's ready to walk.  I guess I better go get dressed.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning

Beautiful sunny day here with a temp of +7°

My son put me in the hospital on March 15th as he wanted to see the world.  Phoned and wished him Happy Birthday as he is in Ohio at the moment.

Not a lot on the agenda other than chasing bunnies and may sneak in some sewing.

Shirley, I forgot to say that yes the eagles stay here akk winter. Sad to say they spend their winter at the dump while in summer they nest  away from there. Guess pickins are better at the all you can eat dump.

Bubble, thank you for the new start....love the giggle.

Gloria and Joy please say hi today.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning everyone. well Like I said for the most part I could care less about clocks or time of day. but today is one of those days, we have a appointment with the Lawler this morning. It is too bad a hand shake is not bond any more. too Many just say what the think you want to here right or wrong. Nancy has set all the clocks except one, it sets it's self with the master clock in Denver col. in a week or so. Have a good day.

Bubble, I had forgotten I had even made that one.  But, I guess it fits in with the St. Patrick's theme of leprechauns and fairies.  Thanks for using it and giving me a surprise this morning.  I like your St. Patrick's Day frog.  I wonder how many frog images you have collected over the years.

Jane, in spite of a broken arm we still can't keep you off of a chair, can we?

Sorry you are having a hard time, Shirley.  Hope it improves soon.

Cloudy and cool here today.  Nothing planned except laundry.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, I had too many frogs... while looking for this one I erased about 70 others to make search easier. I really have to get to it and cull many of those files. Why do I hoard so much? lol

PHYLLIS, I don't know what I said that made you think I was standing on a chair.  I wasn't!  And I wasn't on a chair when I broke my arm.  I was flat on the floor and leaned against a door that I thought was all the way open.  It wasn't and when it moved, so did I.

I called JOY this morning and had a nice talk with her.  She says she's fine but uses her "?Kindle?" more than her computer and she doesn't like typing on it because she makes mistakes.  I told her not to worry about the mistakes.  We just want to know she's OK.  I also told her if we don't hear from her, I'll be calling again.

I tried to call Gloria's number.  It's a cell phone number but there was no answer and it wouldn't let me leave a message either.  I'll try again later.

I'm doing laundry and changing the bed and the dryer just stopped so I better get back to work.  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Merry Monday,

Didn't open my eyes until shortly after 9:00 a.m. and then had a long phone visit with a friend who was interested in knowing more about the vaccine sites giving Johnson/Johnson, which has just arrived in Oklahoma.

So - way behind on Domestic Duties that need to be done.

Later, Taters.  Enjoy your day.

Jane, Your post, #142, from Sunday, March14th, said:

QuoteGood Morning!  From yesterday at 5:19 p.m until this morning at 7:02 a.m. I was the only one around this place.  I scrubbed the counters, tables and floors.  Washed the windows inside and out. I brushed off all the chairs and cleaned the fingerprints off the wall switches.  I even got up on a chair and washed off all the light fixtures.

I didn't remember how you broke your arm.  Sorry.

Good morning from a very cold Interior, but then again, it's not snowing. Absolutely nothing going on here. I thought my foot would be better, and it is as long as I don't stand on it. That idea of going shopping this week has been canceled. Spring normally would have started with the snow gone by Easter. With this year's record-smashing snow and humidity and now minus temperatures, that's not going to happen.

I'm back, Doc didn't do surgery on the 2nd eye 'cause the other is still too red. Hopefully next week so Julie-Ellen can go home. I'm afraid her husband will divorce ME!  He is so good, I do appreciate how thoughtful he is with her, now that she is retired & roaming from state to state to help with grandkids & old Mom. Can't say enough good about this guy, he is the oldest of his siblings & was great help with them and later his own kids.

Can't believe how the flowers, trees, grass & weeds are growing. The ground is green (mine is mostly weeds, I think) but it has the haze of green everywhere. Almost takes one's breath away.

Patricia, glad to see you are doing better & able to get around. I had that crash last year with my knee & it got all better without surgery, hope you have no after effects & can get strength back.

Callie, my daughter had the "single shot" & had a terrible reaction, son had it the next day & had no reaction (he said). I think it is the Johnson & Johnson ... single shot is all I know.

Had a long phone call from an old friend so now gotta get busy. I'll see if I can find out from Gloria's daughter what is going on. Y'all take care.

Shirley you all are telling me to be carful. I think that is good advice for us both. at the minute the weather is needing a sharp eye on it, we just had a real hard pour down with hail in it, from pea size up to golf ball size. and as I type it has stopped and settled down to a very gentile braze. well as they say if you do not like our weather now just weight a short while. a friend gave us a bout four gallon bucket of honey, we have been screening  and bottling it up in quart jars. the weather man is just repeating his self non stop for over a Half hour. I guise it is better safe than sorry. Nancy is washing up all the pots and utensils i used. I am tired now and she will be soon so we both may go take a nap, see you later.

PHYLLIS, HaHa on that one!  That wasn't a real chair, just an imaginary one over here in the Soda Shoppe.  I don't think imaginary chairs are as dangerous as real ones and I don't think you can actually fall from an imaginary one!

Frankie is here for the night and I'll be off to the Applied Kinesiologist/Chiropractor early in the morning.  I was told by her the last time we were there that an "Applied Kinesiologist is different from a regular Kinesiologist.  What she does is much more focused and helps more problems.

SHIRLEY, if you don't get work from Gloria's daughter, I have a number for her son.  I won't be able to call until after lunch tomorrow but I will when I get home.

Now I'm off to the haystack.  I hope it's loaded with zzzzs because my eyes just want to clunk shut and stay that way.  I'm really beat!  I think I tried to do too much today and I didn't get a nap in.  I did have a bowl of PHYLLIS"s 15 Bean Soup from the freezer for lunch.  Still as good as ever!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring Day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

We have pick cotton candy clouds this morning.  Off to an appointment for hubby this morning then home to work about.

Should start another pot of soup today and set it on the back of the wood stove.

I really don't like this time change and there is talk of leaving it this way and I hope they do!!

Lloyd, sounds like you were bottling up honey with your honey. That will be so good, just pure honey not like what is in the stores now.

Jane thank you for your phone calls. Hope we can hear from both today.

Better get a move on..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Hello Everyfriend!  I got back from my dr. appt and she helped me a lot but it took the wind right out of my sails!  I was beat when I got home.  And Frankie was just finishing up giving both dogs a bath.  They're beautiful and they even smell good!

When she finished up the baths, she cleaned the bathroom and her cleaning expanded.  She also did two bedrooms, the living room, dining room, kitchen, my office and the hall and entry way!  And she refused to let me pay her for being my "cleaning lady".

I've been doing a lot of laundry since she left.  I stripped her bed, and washed all the dog mats and I have a load of throw rugs in the washer right now.  I also squeezed in a little nap and the day is pretty good.

I came in here to see if Gloria showed up and since she didn't, I'm going to try calling her son and see if she's OK.  I'll let you all know if I get through.

I hope you are all having a day as good as mine.  I guess LLOYD had a "HONEY" of a day yesterday!

Jane, Gloria has peeked in, in fact she is still here. Do you suppose Frankie wants more cleaning to do?? Seems I clean and clean and there is no end in sight!

This morning  we went over to the local general store and lo and behold on the hood of a Pepsi Cola truck was  a turkey!!! I did manage to get a few photos of him before he got off.

Kyle is making two more trugs, he has one already done with one more to put together then the both get their liners put in.

I just talked to GLORIA'S son and he says that she's OK but she's might just be tired.  He's going to check to see if her computer is OK.  He knows that she does have computer problems sometimes.  I told him to tell her that we don't care if her typing is bad.  We just miss HER!  He's going to tell her that!

I sent Regina e-mail to let her know you are delinquent, Gloria. ;)  ;D   Hope you are feeling better, but understand about being busy. I don't have a thing to show for my days & would swear to you I've been busy all day!

Had the "day after" visit with the eye doc, even though she didn't do surgery yesterday. She is changing meds & schedules for the next eye (April 5)... so Julie-Ellen will go home & come back. I tried to convince her I can handle this but she insists.

You'd think it was true spring if you were here today, sun so bright & tinges of lime green on trees, shrubs & ground. Supposed to have big T-storms come through tonight. We can use the moisture but not thrilled to have the bad winds hit. Cats will have to stay inside, and won't like that. I got up about 4:00 am to let them in this morning, Tom & Callie, both were sitting by the door waiting. Tiger doesn't want out at dark like they do. Callie would rather be in but won't come in unless she sees that Tom is already in. She looks out for him & bosses him around all the time, not so with Tiger.

My trug still in the box, haven't even had time to pull out the instructions. Youngest son is set to have eye surgery, his eye doc that put the holes in his eyes for pressure says a cataract is part of that problem. I happen to dislike that doc so think she is using scare tactics, he is totally alarmed. Not sure which doc sent him to the ER because pressure in his eye was so high, but they scared him, for sure. It has been a busy week. I'm going to mix up a new batch of meat spread for youngest son to stop by & visit tomorrow evening after work. I send it home for after their work outs. This way they will get a chance to visit before she spends the next 2 days with her grands & goes back to St.Louis on Sat.  I need a nap, Fitbit wouldn't even give me a "sleep score" because my sleep was so fractured. Be glad when all this medical stuff is over with!

I've had another busy day.  I followed Frankie's cleaning with some of my own and also changed the bed where she sleeps when she's here.  It was past time for that.

Today was a cold one!  The temps never got above 41 and most of the day were in the 30s.  I still maintain Spring is on the way.  I hear the geese every day now.

I'm off to the haystack to check for some zzzzs.  I'm really tired tonight!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Tuesday night and we are in Sayre Oklahoma.  We were to spend the night in Amarillo TX, but a terrible storm is heading towards us and we decided to move on.  They are reporting a strong winter storm to arrive during the night....we just hope it will not be too sever.

The packers of our sons household goods kept putting them off and off so that sure was not good.  They were to arrive Wednesday or Thursday....ended up getting there Saturday afternoon.  They worked for a couple of hours then the two guys got in a fisticuff and one quit and sat n the cab of the truck fo a couple of hours...our son helped the remaining guy and they got it loaded up!  😩😤🤪

We arrived at my Dad and Diane's on Friday.... Dad was so happy to see us and of course we were thrilled to see them.  Son and Family came on Sunday and we had a nice visit.  We all started the LONG drive on Monday morning and it was very hard to say goodbye to Dad.  We stayed in Albuquerque New Mexico last night.

Today I got a surprise visit from a Texas State Trooper.  We were ALL driving along the interstate ....500 semis trucks and tons of cars....the patrolman came up beside me.....then dropped back pulled in and turned on his lights......seems he picked Lucky Me out of the crowd of cars...he gave me a warning ticket....going eighty in a 75 MPH.  We all swear he picked me as the car we are driving has California plates!  He was very kind BUT.....the funny thing is we had cars and trucks flying by us all day long....the three of us were all just going in the slow lane, my son leading today....his speed control was set on 76 and we were all just staying up....oh well!

Thank you for all the nice wishes for our drive....we are getting tired, but will be arriving at their new home soon.

CALLIE, Bentonville and Springdale are very close in distance...wouldn't that be something if our kiddos both end up living that close together?  Unfortunately the club Mark is the GM at is a private club but I bet they can find a time and a course that they could do some golfing at together 🥰🥰

Take care and good night to all.

good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 36º right now but heading for a high of 54.  That SPRING to me!

JENNY, it sounds like that trooper hadn't made his quota yet and choose an out-of-state driver to help him make it.  You were just there at the wrong time!

We're just waiting for the boinger for breakfast right now.  Mickie is under the desk so she doesn't miss it if I get up and go into the kitchen.  She can't hear but she sure doesn't miss much!

My plan for today is to inventory the frezzaer in the kitchen, work on my shopping list, finish up some stuff that got started yesterday, rake another section of the yard, take some walks with Mickie and whatever else decides to holler for attention!  And if half of that gets done, I'll be surprised!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning..

Going to be another lovely day here, won't have Janies temps but starting out at 20,0176 is not too bad.

Managed to get a lot of small jobs done yesterday and I think that is the way I am going to go this morning. I have a ripe banana and if I remember right also have a recipe for the bread maker for Hawaiian bread so that may happen.

Jane, I need to do that to the big freezer, I am sure there is fruit in there to make bumbleberry jam..one day it will happen.

Jenny, oh dear, that officer was not very forgiving!!

Better get a wiggle on as the day is moving faster than I am.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

All I can say, Jenny, was the cop that stopped me on my last trip home in the 16 year old Rialta, cost me a nice chunk of money!  It is mean, tho. I was "every 3rd car" to get a ticket like that one other tim, hahaha, that ticket showed up in my check book as the grocery store & Cas never knew about it. I had a witness riding with me, we really were just following traffic speed.  So sorry you were so honored.  :-\

You are so ambitious to clean out the freezer, Jane, I only do that when it needs to be defrosted. Hate the job, yes, I do! For sure I am getting lazy.

Lloyd, we also had rain most of the night & sending it on your way. Sure is speeding up the green and we needed it. The river has not been up to clean out the logs left behind by those beaver so the down stream dams may be clogged pretty good when it does.

Gloria, hope you get a new computer soon. I'm still thrilled with this HP laptop I got on sale a couple years ago. Hold my breath that it keeps on behaving, but every time I go thru a Walmart I go past the computer aisle & check. No $250 sales here!  I even bought the new version of PSP to put on it but couldn't figure how to set it up so useless. I don't like Windows 10 & can't find stuff like the old computers but it gets me here & the weather.

Daughter is off getting her hair done for zoom meetings all afternoon. She is still on the advisory board at the college & with 4 kids, 5 grands, they keep her busy. She finished up the Easter baskets & boxes to mail & has been keeping up with my eye drops & meds. I'm not used to having meds to keep track of & this BP med has geared me down so much we've cut it in half the last few days, I'm like a zombie. Got to keep on it until the next eye fixed but then I'm going to wean myself off. We just are not all made alike & I'm okay with being on "fast=forward".

Amy, we are hearing the spring singing of happy birds and the red bud trees are popping their little buds, won't be long. I had hoped to get eyes fixed & new glasses to be on the way to MO by the time they are in full bloom, not going to happen.  :tissue:

That's all from Wichita.... y'all behave & if you can't .... have fun!  Shirley

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Everyfriend

Jenny and family may not have had a comfortable night in Sayre.  Tornadoes to the south of them, a reall honest-to-goodness blizzard to the north of them and wind/hail/rain in between.  It's been a wild time in Oklahoma!!!!
Not wishing anything awful to those east of us but do hope this series of crazy storm systems moves ahead of them as they drive the entire west-east length of Oklahoma.

Carson has accepted the job in Bentonville!  He will be based there but could be sent to various places in surrounding states to work on projects the construction company has going. Graduation is in May and he expects to start job in June.

My book club is meeting via Zoom this morning and I need to get myself settled.  BBL/size]

Amy, I'd be taking a hand full of corn to that turkey every time I shopped!  ;)  I love to make friends with the wildlife. Poor babies. :(

Thanks for the news from Jenny, Callie, so sorry they are getting hit from all sides. Spring weather is always crazy & one reason I hesitate heading to the lake this season. Not the place to be in a motorhome that isn't "tied down" & doesn't have wings!  Got a feeling WE may be in for a rough ride this spring.... all of us.

Happy St.Pat's Day! Wear green or you get pinched!

Shirley, I also love feeding the
wild life but the owner of the store doesn't want him fed.......seems he is scratching up peoples vehicles when they stop there.  I hope some girl turkeys come by and give him something else to think about.  :smitten:

you all talking about feeding the wild life brings back a memory. My step father used to feed buck dear, Had it eating right out of his had. A neighbor stopped by  and asked to go dear hunting, and  Sam said yes, and less than a 1/2 hour he came back with Sam's dear in his truck. and Mom said Sam came in the house and set down in his chair and cried Like a baby. just to show we all need to think before act.

LLOYD, that's so sad about the buck that your stepdad lost!  It made me cry too.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning!  AMY, the rain is widespread!  We have it too and it's supposed to last all day and into the night!  My dogs do not like walking in the rain!

Frankie and I both had something special happen so we're celebrating with dinner together today when she gets home from work.  We thought of lots of things to have and decided tha t both of us are hungry for pizza so she's going to stop at our favorite Italian Pizza shop (It's local and definitely Italian.  The main owner speaks very broken English and he's the one who opened the shop).  Everyone who grew up here, has to have pizza from there when they come home.

I'm going to try to find something that needs doing!  If I'm careful, I might be able to overlook everything!

Enjoy your day....more than yesterday but not as much as tomorrow!

Good Morning everybody! We had two inches of snow last night and it's all pretty much melted by now. It is predicted to have Light rain off and on today. The current temperature is 36º. when I click On the alt 167 to get the little degree circle it loses my post and goes to some different page ( crazy ). Have a good day just as you like it.

Hooray Hooray,  I am done for now....  Two more weeks and
I will be feeling safer than I have this past year.

But still of course, I have to wear my masks and be
sure to wash my hands, and be very grateful that my kids
were here to help me stay save.

I am truly blessed.

Best wishes to all

Sandy and Patricia, way to go ladies on getting your 2nd shot.

Our day turned out perfect.off we went to an area we hadn't been in a long while. Saw new building, torn down old barns and reminisced about how it used to be..

The sky was overcast making the drive much easier on the eyes. Dogs came with us and slept through most of it waking up to go for a needed break and finding out we had FOOD!! Saw a few flocks of geese on the wing.

Melting here and the water is getting away nicely without causing any damage.

Good Night Everyfriend!  The pizza was very good but the company was even better!  Frankie is spending the night and we had lots to talk about.  I introduced her to some old time TV stars when they were young and appeared on Perry Mason Shows.  Seems she's familiar with some of their kids who appear now.

Gotta go get some sleep.  I think the rain stopped about an hour ago and tomorrow is supposed to be into the mid 40s in the afternoon.  I can handle that.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

The rain has stoppped but it dipped into the mid 20s overnight.  Hopefully, the prediction of mid 40s later today will be true.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I'm off to the haystack as soon as possible, but I'm glad to see GLORIA posting.  I also hope your Dr. visit went well and your questions were all answered.  I also hope you are feeling better every day!

AMY, I made all the "lollipops" but a different song went through my head.  Since I started with ducks, it was...."Little duckie duddle, went wading in a puddle, went wading in puddle quite small.  Said he, 'it doesn't matter how much I splash and splatter 'cause I'm olny a duckie after all".

Then it was bunnies and Easter Parade came to minde!  They are all made and bagged and waiting in the fridge.  Tomorrow they get separated and boxed for mailing and bagged for delivery to the kids down the block.

The temp got up into the mid 40s today but it was windy so it didn't feel so warm.  I went outside to bring in my trash can after the collector left and when I put it back where it belonged there was a nice clean like-new scrub bucket tight up against my house.  Anyone need a bucket?

I'm off to the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

HELLO from ARKANSAS 🌳 The sun is shining and it is getting nice and green here! The kids new home is wonderful......Right on the golf course where Mark works.  A member just bought this place and was planning to rent it, so Mark jumped on it right away.  They plan to buy a home but this place will be great for them and they can take their time looking for just the right place.

We were SO happy to arrive here yesterday afternoon.  Even though we took it pretty easy and stopped a LOT, that was a long drive.  Everything went well, aside from my state trooper incident, and we are thankful for a safe journey.  We had some very strong winds and quite a bit of rain, but the treating looking clouds thankfully did not turn into a tornado like the storm projectors indicated they could.

Hope you all are doing great.....pleasant dreams to all.

where in ARKANSAS are you? do the Math and see how far you are from Holden Mo. Rule route, we are 6,3/4 miles north east of Holden, our motor home, Is still down and we do not have money to stay in Motels. but if you want to come here you can spend a few days in it, it has electricity Pugged in and Proppian in the tank.so has heat or cool witch ever is needed for comfort. the Proppian would Las several days. and it may be warm enough to not need the heat. Grand and great Grands are living in our down stairs , so it is full and until we get camper fixed it is dead in the waters for travel, but would be a good place for a while, and you could just relax there. oh yes we can run a water hose and fill the water tank for showers bathing and drinking and dish water,

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be a short one because it's almost time for Mickie's breakfast and then Cooper's arrival.  My daughter is arriving from Maryland sometime this morning and I'm not ready for company yet!  I have a job for us to do together when she gets here and I'm not ready for that yet either.

JENNY, I'm glad you had a safe trip with no bad weather to slow you down.  That house sounds like a very good plan for your kids!  It couldn't have worked out much better.  I'm assuming that since you drove one of their cars there, you will be flying back to Denver when you're ready?

Gotta go...I wish you all a good day, better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Jenny when David is in Arkansas, not sure which town he stops and picks up a case of Nick's BBQ sauce. My friend lived in Little Rock. Mark was lucky to find a place to rent and now he has all the time to look for a home. As much as you have enjoyed your time with the kids I bet you will really enjoy your own bed.

Jane, enjoy your visit! Is all your snow gone?

Good Morning Everyone from
the warming up (a bit) rocky coast of Maine.

I received my 2nd Covid Vacination  and have
not had many side effects from it,  except for
a sore arm and a foggy brain.

I was lucky enough to prevent myself from taking
a terrible fall at the thrift store
down stairs...  I miss stepped on two very
high steps and some how was able to prevent myself
from falling down on the stairs/floor.  I have  been
reliving my almost catastrophic fall
and realize now that I must always take my
rollator with me to prevent that from happening
to me again.

I AM  ok.  Glad that my Covid shots are
over and done with and very grateful that I
did not get hurt in a potential devastating fall.

Today is a very good day.

Good morning everyone! It's minus 21 here, and we're still blanketed in snow. Alan and Dora are doing well, and luckily their covid seems to be mild as they're in their eighties. Alan believes he picked it up at the grocery store and brought it home to Dora. Our morning calls and texts have slowed down as everyone is so tired of this winter and this entire situation. Spring cannot come soon enough!

Other than that, we are doing well.

Patricia, the 80 + year olds are getting their vaccines now...not sure when the rest of us will get them I heard it was the Maderna vaccine ,will make a call to our GP and see if Kyle can take it also. While hanging out the laundry I listened and watched some geese go over.....nice to hear and see.

Amy, we won't see the geese or other returning birds for the next month. April will be brown, gray, and white with rain, while May will have the first greening mid-month with the first planting by Memorial day at the end of the month.

We normally have short but amazing three-month-long summers, with August and September bringing rain and cooling temperatures.

Patricia, we really appreciate summer here.as long as it doesn't get too hot. We either freeze or fry..

Turkey was still at the store ,chasing any vehicle that came in. I would like to bundle him up and let him go where there are more. I was told that the other two in his clutch were killed and I would love to see this one survive!

Would you be allowed to set up a cage with food inside and a trap door as they do with stray cats and dogs? Or a rescue center might have some ideas?

We used to have hot summers of 70 plus to about 104°, but the last three summers have been all rain.

Good Afternoon,

Jenny, so glad you arrived safely.  This is a gorgeous time of year in the Ozarks.  Good time to be there.

Oh my, Sandy, you were lucky to save yourself from that fall. Rollators are handy things to have - but I wish mine was easier to fold up and get in the car.

Amy,  Several years ago, I looked out my back windows and saw 10 wild turkey hens perched on the fence and sitting on the grass.  Turned out there was a flock going up and down the creek that runs along the west side of this property and they'd been seen in other neighborhoods.  Wish I could have seen them getting from the creek to my yard; that would have been quite a parade!

I've seen Canada geese at the pond over the past several days; looks as if they're trying to find a nesting spot.

Guessing our herons will be here before too long.

Saw two ducks flying over when I opened the blinds this morning.  We had a mama with 8 ducklings one summer and named her "Octo-Duck" (remember the news stories about "Octo-Mom", the woman who had 8 babies at once?).

I should do something about the papers setting on top of the shredder but will probably try to finish the e-book I've been reading.  Probably be too cool to sit on the patio but I might try.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere is having an Enjoyable Day.

:) Good "Whatever it is" to Everyfriend.  Yes, I did wear myself out yesterday and I slept like a log last night.  I actually stopped by the office on my way to bed but I was too tired to think and the ZZZZZZZs were huge and really dragging me along so I gave up and went to bed.

Christy and Frankie slept at Frankie's apartment last night and Christy took Cooper and came over here early today and we had a nice breakfast together and then talked and got caught up.  Christy tried to text Frankie around 11 and there was no answer so she decided to go over and root her out of bed so they could spend some time together before she has to head home.  I'm not sure when to expect them back.

The doggies are both resting from their labors and I'm going to join them until the kids get back.  Lunch is going to be soup out of a jar unless they stop somewhere on the way back.

I hope you all have a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

A SUNDAY HELLO from Springdale Arkansas on this beautiful first day of spring 🌱 🪴 🌺

We went to a lovely park and Jonah had so much fun playing! I am soaking up all this nice sunshine today as storms are moving in tomorrow ☔️

Our youngest son had a scare yesterday morning just after 8 AM.   A man in a pickup truck fell asleep driving into his cul de sac and mowed down the tree in his front yard.  There are several young children on the street and thankfully he did not hit one of them.  He was not drunk or on drugs as far as they could determine....he said he was tired and just fell asleep at the wheel after working all night and coming to a second job at a home on the street!

LLOYD, I will take a look at a map to see how far we might be from you here in Springdale. We are even with Tulsa OK on a map just to the East.  We can't visit this trip but maybe one of the trips in the future we will be able to.  Wish we could have met up with you, CALLIE, but next time for sure.  I wonder who else might be in this area?  Thank you for your offer....you are so kind.

SANDY, I am sure glad you caught yourself and did not fall.  I never imagined I would feel so vulnerable to a fall, but I sure do!  It is frightening. I have the same rollator as you do and I must use it when I am out walking about!  I took it to the park today and with the large wheels I can go just great on any surface.

AMY, I am not familiar with Nick's BBQ or their Sauce, but I looked it up!  My oh my, you are right.....yummmy looking food.  We tried to order from a BBQ place here last night that had a high rating but their internet ordering system was down and they do not take telephone orders😩😡

JANE, we will be flying home from here this coming Wednesday.  Sadly it appears there household goods will not make it here in time for us to help them get settled😡. Our airline of choice is SouthWest and they do not fly into NW Arkansas, so we will rent a car and drive to Tulsa OK to catch our flight.

ENJOY the rest of your Sunday💐

CALLIE, I saw a heroin here in the park today.  There was a creek and he was walking in it.

1. Being a little older, I am very fortunate to have someone call and check on me every day. He is from India and very concerned about my car warranty.
2. Dove Chocolate   tastes WAY better than their soap.
3. It helps if you imagine auto correct as a tiny little elf in your phone, who's trying so hard to be helpful... but is in fact...quite drunk.
4. They say we can have gatherings of up to eight people without any issues. I don't know eight people without any issues.
5. We should train all Amazon delivery drivers to give the vaccine. The whole population would be immunize by Saturday. (Thursday if you've got PRIME!)
6. One day 2020 will be the one-word  Catch-Phrase for everything messed up!! "How's your day?" "A total 2020. "Say no more."
7. Another reason to wear a mask: You can mouth the words 'Sc#ew You' directly to someone's face...ALL DAY! (and they will never know)
8. We all know mirrors don't lie. I'm just GRATEFUL...they don't LAUGH!!
9. Who would have thought one day some would be smoking weed at a family gathering ...but the illegal part would be the FAMILY GATHERING!!
10. Apparently it's only appropriate to say, "Look at YOU! YOU got so BIG!" ...to children. Adults tend to get offended.
11. They say every piece of chocolate you eat shortens your life by two minutes. I've done the math.  Seems I died in 1537.
12. Warning: Bars need your help! We can only open to 1/3 capacity! Those who cannot drink for THREE...are kindly asked to leave their place to the PROFESSIONALS!!
13. One minute you're young and fun. And the NEXT, you're turning down the stereo in your car to SEE better!
14. So... you've been eating hotdogs and McChickens all your life, but don't want the vaccine because, "you don't know what's in it???"
15. We are not aging, we are ripening to PERFECTION!!!  (...I think  I'm a little over ripe)

My company is all safely home and I'm ready for the haystack!  The zzzzzs all have my name on them again tonight.  Christy brought a CD with some old family movies on it and we all had some chuckles watching that.  I really had cute little kids and they've all grown up well, too.  They're not only handsome and pretty, they smart, kind and caring.  I guess you can tell I love them!

I'm off to the haystack!  Tomorrow is another day!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

We are  supposed to be spoiled again with another glorious day today.. we will take it!

Going to be a busy day here, folks are coming to pick up 2 trugs and then we are off to the lumber store for more material for another one! Folks stopped in yesterday , looked at all the trugs on the front lawn and decided to get one.

I need to head back to the store I was in yesterday to pick up 3 sets of sheets that are on sale. Told my friend about them and she needs 3 sets  for her fil. While there I will pick up what I forgot yesterday..matches.one box for the shop and one for the house.

We went to the country store yesterday and looked and looked for Tom T Turkey.......couldn't find him until.......look up...look waay up...there he was up on the light standard over the gas pumps. He is becoming quite the celebrity there.

Better get my duds on.....hope we hear from Gloria, Shirley, Phyllis and Joy today..

Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Quick GOOD MORNING EVERYFRIEND!  Then it's time for the boinger, breakfast for Mickie and me, a quick walk and then Cooper's arrival!

I'm cooking and cleaning today.  Lots of stuff to wash up and put away.  I have a dentist appointment tomorrow but I think I'm rescheduling it for early April.  I changed my Medi-Gap insurance as of April first and I'm thinking if there is any kind of a billing delay on this one, I might end up having to pay all of it.

AMY, the "Trug Business" seems to be taking off!  Good for you and Kyle!

Hello, to anyone who shows up later!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Yesterday was "one of those days". Started with church & ended with son, Andy, coming over to fix a leaky faucet plus pumping too much rain water out of the pool & ended with a flooded room in the basement & water shut off for the night. Bummer. Much easier to do without water out camping than at home!! These copper pipes came with a house built back in mid '60s so with settling on this sandy river bank, spring a leak now & then. Too often in my opinion. Andy happened to walk past where it was spewing out, right near the furnace & hot water heater. Tried soldering a new piece in but couldn't get it to take so getting the other type connections as soon as Mennards opens. He is so good to stop whatever he has going on & fix my problelms. I do insist paying him in spite of his protests, just tell him I won't call when in trouble. Not exactly what I planned for the day. I do hope to have running water for a shower before my eye appointment tomorrow. She wants to check progress of the red eye to make sure it will be ready for the other eye on April 5. Still having to put Lotemax drops in & not sure even that isn't causing more trouble. My body objects to any medication so always a challenge.

Amy, I'm enjoying the Tale of the Turkey and hope it wins the battle. Would think a farm store would have a big net like used to capture the goose behind my house that had fish line around it's leg. Kind of like those folding sun shades, spring loaded so when he threw the net it opened around the bird & held it until someone could hold it's wings down. Also those folding pens that can be set up as traps..... or bring a pet turkey to teach it manners! Does it attack humans?  I opened the door to let Tom & Callie out while ago and every kind of bird song I ever heard... best music EVER. Cloudy & rain all around, 54°, not sure what the high for the day, but heard rain, rain, rain.

Jane, I feel like you when looking at the old pics of my kids..... still think they were the best & wouldn't trade for any others.  I like 'em as well as love 'em.

Can't wash dishes & have a sink full. Made a pot of potato, celery, onion soup last night that turned out especially tasty since I added a couple small cloves of garlic to it. Had 2 hearts of celery so really flavorful and topped a bowl full off with shredded cheddar cheese, yum & plenty of dirty dishes/pot waiting to wash & put away. Also made a loaf of French toast for myself. I made some while Julie-Ellen was here & she loved it so much I made another loaf for her to take home. She didn't realize I use from 8-12 eggs in mine as well as a cup & half of sugar, teaspoon of vanilla with dash of salt & maybe half a cup of milk. My mother snuck in eggs any way she could to get them down us when we were little so I did the same. My French toast is good to pop in the toaster & just butter & eat or on a plate with syrup. After seeing in the frozen food dept at the store I figured I could make my own to take camping, heat in toaster or skillet.

Round 2 of fixing pipes... hope to get done by noon & then the fun begins turning off faucets all over the house (even washer, etc) because water kept draining into pipe needing soldering. For sure hot water heater will be next, checked date of & is 2007. Yikes! I am really tired of this house needing constant TLC but it is HOME to 3 cats so will hang on.

My trug is still in its box & I think it is planting season here. Ah, well........Better get busy, Andy has gone to the hardware store. Tom is at the door, he doesn't like all the company (think he is jealous of my kids getting more attention than he does).

As someone once said, "Don't pray for an easier life, pray to be stronger"....
Love ya all.Shirley

:smitten:  :smitten:  :smitten: Just love this weather!!! I know we will pay for this but in the mean time we are thoroughly enjoying that warm sunny day! Help loaded up the two trugs then into town for more supplies. While hubby worked on the order for another trug I washed the van....well chased the dirt around would be more like it.
Just came home from letting the next door neighbours dog out and will now think about supper. I did make a pot of chicken soup this morning and cooked some apple sauce from gala apples that were hard.

I did see a robin!! I know I heard one yesterday but didn't see it but today he was eating? the seed .

Shirley, I hate leaky pipes and know how frustrating it can be to fix. Hope you get yours fixed and all the areas dry.  Will keep you posted on Tom T Turkey :)

Another day has come to an end and I'm ready to hit the haystack!  I made a ham meatloaf, baked potatoes and peas for supper and when Frankie came home from work she had supper.  She doesn't care for meat loaf but she liked the ham meatloaf.  So did I and before anyone starts asking for recipes, I bought it ready to bake at the Mennonite Store but I am going to research a recipe.  I might never make my own because this one was good and not all that expensive.

For lunch today, I had home canned carrot soup in a very nice mug that said "Someone Special" on the side of it.  I'm wondering if that means I'm special or that "Someone Special" gave it to me for Christmas.  I'm betting on the second one!

We had another sign of Spring today.  We smelled our first skunk of the season tonight!  I hope they keep their distance.  We don't need that smell....except to add to the fact that Spring is definitely Springing around here.

AMY, it sounds like the robin wasn't on the wing if it was eating.  That's a good sign of Spring.  If it was on the wing, Spring is a bit off in the distance.

Must go seek out the zzzzzs.  The haystack calls.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Good morning from a still snowed under Interior, but we have plus ten presently. My leg is better. Yesterday I committed to going down to security to get my mail and return. I managed it and spent the rest of the day resting. Going downtown will be a while longer, but I'm on the home stretch.

Amy, our average summer weather is normally in the eighties altho the last three have been unfortunately rainy. Last summer was a deluge. Our normal pre-climate change was the seventies through 104° I couldn't tell you what normal is any more.

Here is a link to the snow we still have in this Arctic Cam screengrab.

I am doing a slow  :tickedoff:  Remember when we used to get matches that you could strike anywhere?  Gosh, if you had tight jeans on you could strike it on them and the match would light. They also had a white tip on them
Now, there is no white tip (phosphorus) on them now :(  you do need to strike on the box and with any luck it will cause a flame....maybe. Told hubby if these don't work out ,I will get a bbq lighter and we will use that to light the fire.

I did check our rhubarb and it is now clear of snow but no red shoots poking their nose through yet.

Patricia, thank you for he link, you do have a lot of snow about..ours is mainly in the  woods. Happy to read you are getting about some. Way to go on being on the home stretch, this has been a long haul for you..

It is a dreary day here in Springdale.  A few sprinkles here and there.  It is our last full day and I will be sad to have to say goodbye tomorrow morning as we head off to Tulsa OK to catch our airplane home😩

Once again we had another mass shooting yesterday in Colorado.  Of all the mass shootings in Colorado we head on the news that Colorado ranks 6th in the nation😩 YIKES. They did not say what the first five states are.

Sadly, last night a dear friend and her husband were in a very bad car accident on their way home to Santa Fe NM from Colorado where they were meeting with the builder of their new home.  Thankfully they are not too seriously injured but the car is totaled.  They spent the night in the hospital but are hoping to be released today and trying to arrange a way to get home.

I wish you ALL a good rest of your day.

Well, we've gone almost 11 hours without a post.  If this Soda Shoppe doesn't start doing a better business, we might go OUT of business.  Come on everyone, come get a soda and some snacks and join us for some chatter.

Today was very busy.  I got a lot done and all of it tood time!  Every time I thought about sitting down or closing my eyes for a few minutes, some odd job needing doing would pop into my mind.  It was one of those days.  And I also made a quick trip to Davy's and. among other things, I brought home a potted pansy!  Yep, I fell for the Spring Effect!

Right now, I can't keep my mouth shut.  I'm yawning continuously!  I guess I better hit the haystack and check it out for ZZZZs.

I wish you all a peaceful night sleep and a beautiful Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Sorry, Jane, I've come by to read but phone calls & cats got in the way of reporting in. Had the Dr appointment this afternoon to make sure the eye is healed enough to keep schedule for other eye surgery on April 5. Is good to go. Rainy, cloudy day and these BP pills have me so geared down I am going thru the daze in a daze. Basement is drying out nicely with the de-humidifier running so that's all to report from central Kansas. Sweet dreams & think too late to catch anyone awake to whisper that to. Sorry........... Good Morning...or Good Night SHIRLEY!  At least I don't have to talk to myself!  I'm glad to hear the eye is healed and that you're ready for the other one.  I hope this one doesn't give you so much trouble.  They should be ready for whatever happens!

We're supposed to get rain today beginning with drizzle and increasing as the day progresses.  We'll see how that goes.  I don't have to go anywhere but this Friday, my two weeks are up following my COVID shots and I'm heading for the beauty parlor.  My hair is hollering "CUT ME OR I"M GOING CRAZY!"  And it's driving ME crazy!

I hope you all have a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Need to attack a "catch all" drawer today, not a huge job but one that gets put by the way side. Bread baking day today also.

Jane, I was so happy to get my hair cut the other day, first with a new hairdresser and he did a great job.

Shirley, crows are eating me out of house and home here (kidding) they also like the home made bread.

Slept in so better get a move on here

Hello Everyfriend!  Not much activity in here today!  Everyone must be out enjoying the beautiful Spring weather.  We had the predicted drizzles all day....sometimes heavier and sometimes lighter.  I just had Mickie out for her last jaunt and it's still drizzling a bit.  It's supposed to be stopping overnight and tomorrow will be in the low 70s.

Frankie and Cooper were in and out today.  Cooper stayed while Frankie kept a couple of appointments and then her father showed up and we dropped him at the groomer and she picked him up.

I took the curtains in my bedroom down and washed them, dried them, ironed them and put them back up.  My plan was to wash the windows but with the rain and cloudiness, i decided I wouldn't be able to tell if them were clean so I put off the washing.

Mickie and I had two nice long walks between the showers and it was so nice and warm we didn't even need a coat....well, Mickie kept her coat on.  I didn't wear one.

I made Easter lollipops and I overnighted them to my Great grandkids in OK.  I didn't want to take a chance of having them sit around and melt somewhere.  My Granddaughter sent me movies of the opening and then Facetimed me on the phone so I could watch!  I really miss those kids!

I'm off to the haystack now.  I'm not going to close down the Shoppe tonight because sometimes SHIRLEY and JENNY pop in late.  I did turn the lights down but you can turn them up if you want more light.  Don't forget to turn them down when you leave

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Tis a pea soup day out there this morning!! We had a good rain in the  night and may get more this morning. Sure is taking the snow away!!

Another trug is going to a new home this morning . I didn't get the bread done or the drawers. (see how I can wiggle out of work? ) :2funny:  Instead I rearranged my cookbooks........all 107 of them and that isn't including the ones on another cupboard. I looked in some and found recipes for cooking bear meat and when I came to chipmunk pie ,I closed the book. So today will just be a day of letting it happen.

Jane, hope you have the proper footstool or 3 step ladder when putting the curtains back up.

Shirley or Jane  any word on Gloria??

Phyllis, I bet your happy that job is done. Tax time is no fun!

Lloyd, I also enjoy putting jigsaw puzzles together...good for Nancy.

Best get ready, folks said they would phone and let us know when they are coming.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

edited to add.  yayyy Joy is here!! Good morning Joy.

Good Morning JOY, AMY, and LLOYD and anyone else who shows up later.  We've been up and out and checked the email, took a shower and got dressed, had breakfast, went for a walk and now we're ready to start the chores.

Mickie is recovering from her walk on the rug behind my chair.  It was a long one with lots of "snuffies" along the way.  She's worn out!

I'm finally going to inventory the kitchen freezer so I don't have to keep rooting to find something I know is in there!  And I think Frankie and Cooper will be by later today.  Whatever else crops up, I'll give it a chance.  If I want to tackle it, I will.  If I don't feel like it, I won't!  So there!!

I wish you all a good day! Better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I remember something like this but was Holiday Inn... I still like the idea...

No nursing home for me.  I'll be checking into a MARRIOTT!

With the average cost for nursing home-care being $275.00 per day, there is a better way when we get old and too feeble.

I've already checked on reservations at  The FAIRFIELD:

For a combined long-term stay discount and senior discount, it's $79.00 per night.

Breakfast is included, and some have happy hours
In the afternoon.

That leaves $196.00 a day for lunch and dinner in any restaurant we want, or room service, laundry,
gratuities and special TV movies.

Plus, they provide a spa, swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge and washer dryer, etc.

And most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap.

$10 worth of tips a day and you'll have the entire staff scrambling to help you.   They'll treat you like a customer, not a patient.

There's a city bus stop out front, and seniors ride free.
The handicap bus will also pick you up
(if you fake a decent limp).

To meet other nice people, call a church bus on Sundays.

For a change of scenery, take the airport shuttle bus and eat at one of the nice restaurants there.
While you're at the airport, fly somewhere....
otherwise, the cash keeps building up.

It takes months to get into decent nursing homes.  Marriott will take your reservation  today !

And you're not stuck in one place forever -- you can move from Marriott to Marriott, or even from city to city.
Want to see Hawaii? They have COURTYARD there too.

TV broken?  Light bulbs need changing?  Need a mattress replaced?  No problem... They fix everything, and apologize for the inconvenience.

The Marriott has a night security person and daily room service. The maid checks to see if you are OK.  If not, they'll call an ambulance . . .
or the undertaker!

If you fall and break a hip, Medicare will pay for the hip, and Marriott will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

And no worries about visits from family. They will always be glad to find you, and probably check in for a few days mini-vacation.

And the grandkids can use the pool.

What more could you ask for? So, when I reach that golden age, I'll face it with a grin.
............
BUT.....AIDS WARNING! SENIOR CITIZENS ARE THE NATION'S LEADING CARRIERS OF AIDS!
HEARING AIDS, BAND AIDS, ROLL AIDS, WALKING AIDS, MEDICAL AIDS, GOVERNMENT AIDS,
MOST OF ALL, MONETARY AID TO THEIR KIDS!

Not forgetting HIV (Hair is Vanishing)
Also, all politicians should serve only two terms -- one in office and one in prison.

And during your stay at the Marriot,
for pain relief,  you can send your
grandkids out in the parking lot to
score some drugs..  preferably heroin...
or some pills OxyContin Codine , Fentanyl,
and the list goes on and on.

in fact,  if your kids are successfull
they can start their own business which might
help you pay for your motel stay.

I don't know...
sounds a little reckless to me...

But we are just having fun
and joking around so we are only
limited by our imagination..

Enjoy and have fun!!
And I am hoping that everyone is feeling
well and at our age,   we still
have Medicare to sustain us in legitimate
hospitals with legitimate physicians.

I am very happy with mine here
in Portland Maine.   But I do
know that we are very
fortuante here to have
excellent heath care facilities,
and staff ..

Have a good day Everyone !!!

Just watched the trug go down the road. We still have 3 more to go likely closer to  May. The geese are winging their way  here and I hope they find some open lakes to land in.

Shirley that is a good one makes more sense to go there than a nursing home. Saw Mr Tom this morning. what a display he put on!! Tail fanned out and wings fanned down. Will try and get some photos of him tomorrow.

Back to work...

Time for the haystack and I'm sure ready tonight!

SHIRLEY, I shared your retirement idea with my kids and they like the idea!  Maybe we'll  run into each other some day1

I made my Cranberry Chicken recipe today with one slight chane.  I used the pheasant that my SIL shot and shared with me last Fall.  It turned out really good and I have enough to put a few dinners in the freezer for later and a couple more to eat now.

Frankie came over here after her Dr. appt.  She had also stopped at the car wash and she got my shop vac and extension cord out of the shed and cleaned out the interior of her care and mine.   So the Spring cleaning of the cars is almost done.  I'll need to make a trip to the car wash to do the outside of mine.

Today was a GLORIOUS day!  The sun was out; there was a light breeze and the temperature got all the way up to 74!  I had all the windows open and the house is all aired out now.  It's wonderful!

Now I'm heading for the haystack and I hope it's loaded with zzzzzs.  I'm really tired.  It doesn't seem to take as long for that to happen as it use to take!  I wonder why!

JaneS when you go through the car Wash, do not forget to do the under body wash, there are more rust trash hanging under there than on the out side.cost's you more $$$worth damage under there.Look at the low rusted out places on cars.
as they say do the Math. the couple 0f extra $$$ for it is money well spent.
Nancy will tell you that in a heart beat, and no won is a bigger pinney pingher than she is. I can tell you by the way she fusses at me when we wash the Vn and there no rust showing on it. and when you leave the car wash drive very slow the blow dry bloys dry under boddie. good Night and sweet dreams.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're up but I'm not sure we're attem yet.  I didn't sleep too well last night.  It was one of those nights that I went to bed too tired to sleep.  I slept pretty well for the first two hours and then fitfully the rest of the night.

We got up to 64º this morning!  I couldn't believe it!  We're supposed to hit a high of 70 but more drizzling rain all day today.

My project for today is to make AMY's hot mustard.  I emptied the last jar yesterday and I can't live without it any more!  So that's the project for today!  See what you've done, AMY?  I'm hooked!

Thank you LLOYD for the advice about the under side of the car.  I'll remember that when I go to the car wash!  And I'll think of you and Nancy when I do.

It's almost time for the boinger and breakfast so I'll wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

I got up shut the bedroom door so Nancy could get some rest. I dosed off about 1 hour. weather guesser says is 37º and cloudy going for 61º today. but it is also very foggey here now. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning..

Liquid sunshine out there this morning and it is a steady rain.  There are flood warnings in some areas but we are fine here. Those with sap buckets will be dumping them  on the ground. Another catch up day after picking up meds today.

Jane, you and I will be doing the same job, we are scrapping the bottom of the last jar here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe!

Good Morning Everyone,
from the overcast and cool,
rocky coast of Maine.

It is going to be in the 40's and 50's
with occasional showers here in
Portland,  for the next 10 days.
Indicating that Spring is on it's
way.   Phew what a relief.

I am getting close to the second
week after my second Covid shot and feeling
pretty good.  Just a little tired .  The
side effects have not been too bad.

I am going to Trader Joes with my daughter
Kelly  today.   (What a treat!) ..  then I
might get her to go to the fish Market
down on Commercial street, for some fresh
fish.

Ah what a treat to actually get out of
my apartment and into a store. or two.

As I mentioned before,  I will never go
out anythere with out my Rollator again.
My fear of falling has finally sunken in
so I shall be more careful in the future.

I shouldn't complain as I am not in any pain
these days nor have I ever been in much.

As I am repeating,  I just must always be
more careful to cut my speed in half,
and walk behind my rollator every time I
leave my home.
:banana2:

Sandy, I know you are really fearless having traveled the US alone.... so don't be so afraid of falling. I've had several falls the last few years & lucky for me, no broken bones (even when I stepped back off that ladder onto concrete). As a kid & teen I learned to go limp & roll (being built close to the ground it wasn't hard to roll).... it is surprising to get up from a "roll", just tuck your body into a ball & take the "hit" on the ground with your shoulder protecting your face, and pop up & shake off the dirt. Might want to practice on soft dirt (or not)... ;)  ;D  Seriously, I've had diagnosed osteoporosis for about 25 years & do try to stay out of trouble but this works for me & I still do ladders & most everything I did as a kid. Not as gracefully.. ::)

It is cloudy but Tom & Callie ate their breakfast & are sitting on the step by the back door. I made them all stay inside last night since it was supposed to get into the 30s. Tom has had a sore foot or leg for a couple days but he doesn't like me to hold him to check. He is such a baby, I make sympathetic noises & he actually moans back for me, yet when Andy called & stopped by with an egg biscuit from McDonald's while ago, he went over the Dutch door to the basement without a 2nd thought. Crazy cat, he's going to break a leg one of these days doing that because he has to land several steps down when he goes over. I even had some stuff piled on top of that door ledge to keep him from jumping up on it... did it anyway without knocking the stuff off. He didn't know it was Andy, just a knock on the door (he called from a few blocks away & I opened the garage door).

More laundry to do today & then a closet floor to clean out. I have a big batch of shoes to take to the thrift store, some look hardly worn. Dumb shopping & would get home to walk around & find they weren't comfy so my "bargains" weren't really a bargain. Hope someone else can get some use out of them. I haven't cleaned out closets for ages & a must do thing now.

I was hoping to hit the road by the time the red bud is in full bloom but guess it won't happen this year. It should be beautiful in another few days but from what my daughter says, we are a little ahead of central MO on greening up. We are a tad further south but guessing Callie is way ahead of us, being "souther" than we are. How about that word, Callie?

Where are you, Gloria?  Just an X will let us know you are okay........

Have a happy day where ever you are. I'm still going to paint a smiley face on my black mask!

Good Morning,

I can't possibly - nor would I want to try to - keep up with those of you whose days center around making something to eat, taking care of animals (excuse me...."fur babies"  ::) ) and going hither and yon.

However, I'm about to go farther this weekend than I've been in more than a year.  Will tell you about it when I return.

Shirley,  .  ;D at "souther"; I'll think about that the next time you send a "blue norther" our way.
Our flowering trees and shrubs are very slow this year due to the ice storm last October and the snow/ice a month or so ago.  There are very few leaves even showing on the cottonwoods behind the fence and I'm afraid they've been damaged.

Hope Everyfriend has an Enjoyable Day and a Wonderful Weekend.

Reporting in on my latest catastrophe 😢😢
We rented our car and drove from Springdale to Tulsa on Wednesday the 24th......had a delightful drive on back roads to see the country side......drove downtown Tulsa.....ate a delicious half of a pastrami sandwich....took rental car returned and headed to the terminal behind my walker.  There was a rubber strip across the path and I some how lost control of my walker and fell straight down forward.  I knew immediately I was injured and would not be making my flight.  My iWatch went off alerting medical help....my first ride in a ambulance and my first broken bone.  My shoulder was out of the socket....ER docs tried to put it back four or five times to no avail.....took me for a CT scan and called a orthopedic doc to come.  He finally got it back in the socket on the third try apologizing profusely for all the pain he was putting me through, but the next step was to the OR to surgically reset it.  I have a fracture as well so have a appointment with a orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday.

We got a Uber ride back to the Tulsa Airport  ....spent the night there waiting for a 6 AM flight.  Got home, Son Brian picked us up and got us home.....then he went shopping for us.  I slept in my recliner last night as I can not lay down.  Bob has to do EVERYTHING for me....bathroom runs, etc....bless his heart.

I miss you all and just wanted you to know why I did not post that we were home.

Jenny

Oh my gosh, JENNY, what a terrible experience!  I sure hope you feel better soon but I know how it is to break a bone in your upper arm!  That's what I did a year ago today!  I'll sure be saying prayers for you!

AMY, my mustard is in jars, too and I had Cranberry Chicken for supper last night and tonight.  There's more to freeze for later meals.  However, I cheated!  The chicken is really pheasant that my SIL shot and gave me along with the venison for Christmas.  It's good this way but it's a bit different than chicken.

We're on our way to the haystack a bit earlier than usual tonight because I'm having trouble with my eyelids.  I open them and they just slam shut!  I can't get the props to work to keep them open.  And once they slam shut, they lock in place.  There must be something wrong with them and I'm going to see if resting them overnight helps.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us every one....especially JENNY, she needs it!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I sat down here a good hour ago to say "good morning" and I started cleaning out my email boxes and that was it!  I never got past the email.  And the worst of it is, I'm not finished cleaning out the boxes!

Cooper arrived here at 5:30 a.m. to spend the day and we were already up and attem.  I sure hope Mickie adapts to DST soon.  We can't seem to stay abed past 5 a.m. any more and that's way to early to start the day!

I've managed to work around doing an inventory of the kitchen freezer and I'm really tired of rooting around in there.  So today is the day for the inventory.  And if the rest of the day goes the way it began, I might still be rooting around in there tomorrow.  Pray for me!

Now I'm waiting for Cathy to come back from the grocery store.  She gave me the option of taking that job back since I'm vaccinated but I'm going to let her do it for a while yet.  It gives me a "for sure" visit every week and she doesn't really mind.  She goes anyway.  And it saves me a little bit of energy.

My eyes seem be under control this morning.  They're not snapping shut uncontrollably.  We'll see how that goes!  I might need to give them a short "shutdown" this afternoon to get back in shape for the evening!

JENNY, I hope you're feeling a tad better every hour but as AMY said, I bet you have bruises in places you didn't even know you had places.  At least they'll heal with time!

I'm off to get started....I hope!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Jenny, I am so sorry about your terrible accident.  But, I'm glad that you were not traveling alone...that Bob was with you.  And that you were in a city the size of Tulsa where you could get immediate good help.  Still, what a terrible experience.  I hope you are feeling a little better now that you are back in familiar surroundings.  Thinking and praying for your quick recovery.

Lloyd, you said your homemade peanut butter was thin.  You have to keep it in the refrigerator since it doesn't have any artificial thickeners in it like the store bought kind does.  Keeping it in the fridge also keeps it from getting rancid.  I've made my own peanut butter for over 30 years.....my husband wouldn't eat the store bought kind anymore.

Oh, WOW, Jenny, that was some TRIP! (pun intended). So sorry for your pain & the torture that is probably on going for some time. (Both you & Bob). Got to have been twice as scary not having your trusted doctors available. Was thinking about your walker, hope you get or have one you can sit comfortably in that Bob can push you, don't think you'll be able to manage leaning on that shoulder for some time. Really sounds painful to me. I do remember how long it took Jane's to get under control.. so big, gentle hugs & more prayers.

Now, girls, remember, when you start to go down you must "tuck & roll", did your gym teachers not teach you anything?  ;)  My friend (my age) here says the biggest problem is getting back up if nothing to hang on to. We do face challenges as we grow up, right?  Take care!

Was one of those nights of half awake dreaming & thinking. First hitch I got less than 6 hours so after eating & feeding cats, back to bed for another 2 hours & 45 min. so should be bright eyed & bushy tailed but look like something the cats dragged in.  :crazy2:

Wishing all a pleasant Palm Sunday week end, no more boo-boos for anyone! I've got to get me in gear to clean & do all the things Jane & Amy talk about getting done 'cause my daughter will be back late Easter Day for my eye surgery the next day. Have SO much to do & the body/brain is not willing. I've always responded better to bribes... but this time I can't think of a thing to get me started.

Oh, Jane, when we lived in Western Kansas we had plenty of pheasants for hunting, everyone came to visit us during hunting season. I sure hated to pick the lead (I don't know if it was really lead) out of the carcass so was happy to switch to chicken breasts, but did come up with a recipe for "pheasant under glass" that everyone loves & still uses for chicken. Let me know if you are interested & have the old round Pyrex baking dishes, a must for best flavor. My daughter ended up with all of mine so my excuse for not fixing anymore. May do it one of these days, in a Corel oval, it doesn't come out quite the same.

Noon & nary a thing done but check in here. I have a mess to clean up before anything else. Callie must have eaten too fast & coughed it up... yuck... on the floor by the couch, hardest place to get to she could find. Poor baby, she went out & probably sleeping in the flowers across the street so she can watch my/her house. It is windy again & she found a sheltered place to sleep & keep track of what goes on here. Tom & Tiger are sleeping in different rooms at the other end of the house. Tiger likes being alone.

Gloria, where are you?

Jane, you supplied supper tonight along with Apple Streusel Bread Pudding for dessert. We did work for a lady and she gave me the recipe years ago...I don't buy canned apple pie filling but had apples to cut up and must say it was tasty. Will put some in the hidey hole and it sure made a lot for just these two ol folks.

Shirley, I tried to get some photos of Tom T but being a cloudy (dull) day it didn't show off his feathers, will try again.

Thank you all for your wonderful supportive words.....I am feeling a lot better today......I got off those horrible pain pills.....just taking Aleve and it is helping to take the edge off of the pain with out the awful feelings the pain pills leave you with.

My brother came by to visit for 3 1/2 hours and I am tuckered out.

I thought of you JANE and the shoulder injury you had, so have a good idea of what I am in for down the road.  I do have a appointment with a trusted Dr. Jason Dragoo this coming Wednesday afternoon.  I just hope and pray he will tell me the fracture is lined up correctly so that it might be able to heal on its own...🙏🙏🙏. Dr. Dragoo is the head of the University of Colorado Steadman Hawkins right here near our home.  I have known Jason for years as he and Dr. Dave went to medical school together.  He will take good care of me and make sure it is in my best interest.  Feeling blessed.

I love you all my sweet friends......feeling your love and support 🥰🥰.

Now the day is over.... And it was a busy one!  It started early as I said before.  Cooper showed at 5:30 a.m. and that was the beginning of our day.  As soon as it was light, we went for the first walk of the day.  We had 4 altogether...3 full circles and one up to the corner and back.

I did NOT get the freezer inventoried but I am determined to get that done tomorrow BEFORE I put the four containers of pheasant in there.  And yes, SHIRLEY, I do have the old fashioned round pyrex oven dishes in three sizes with lids.  I'd love that recipe.  You could email it to me when you have time because I suspect I'll be getting more pheasant this year.  I always let my SIL  know when I'm having the wild game he supplies to me and it always brings on more.  I think it makes him happy to have found someone who likes it as much as he does.  And he has a friend who likes to hunt with him but whose family doesn't like to eat the wild game so he gets double.  It saves me money and I like it!

JENNY, I'm glad you have someone special to take care of you and I know that the time will come sooner than you think that he will be prescribing exercises to get your shoulder back in working order.  They will be simple and gentle at first and work their way up.  DO THEM!  I'm here to say, THEY DO HELP even if they hurt a bit.  My dr. made the mistake of saying that I would probably never get my arm straight up beside my head and be able to move it back and forth.  My Dad would have said, "Never tell Jane she can't do something".  I can do that and I do it constantly every day and it only took me about 4 months of exercise.  The Dr. was amazed!  You can do it, too!  I know you can and you will!

Also, look for Comfrey.  It's a natural healing cream and will help speed the healing process.  Since it's natural, it won't interfere with anything else you are using and it WILL help.  Also, Arnica gel comes in a tube and eases pain.  I have to admit that I still have some pain when I overuse that arm but the Arnica is a saver.  It works!  If you want me to email this stuff to you later, let me know.  I'll be glad to do that.  But you can start using them any time.  I never had a cast because they said casts don't work that far up on the arm so I could use them right off.

AMY, email me the recipe for that apple dessert that you made.  It sounds good!

Now I'm off to the haystack to search for some zzzzzs.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow! And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  Today got up into the 7os and was gorgeous.  I had all the windows open.  Tomorrow it's supposed to rain again.  SPRING HAS SPRUNG!

Still dark but normal Sunday morn routine, 2 cats fed & one to go. Tiger sleeps in the other end of the house & expects her breakfast to be delivered before I dress for church. She'd rather stay inside.

Have a new problem with a running faucet in the bathtub, not a drip but steady run. I really do need to find a plumber but know Andy will find time to fix before any plumber would show up. I do wish someone would show me how to put in a gasket... I'm sure I have all the tools to do the job. Amy, do you do that yourself?  I do know how to turn off the water to the whole house.  ;)

Enjoy this day, every Friend, maybe soon Covid will be a fear of the past and let's hope not all the side effects like polio. How little we knew and still don't know. God Bless. Shirley

We were up and attem in time to have our good walk all the way around the circle before the rain started.  Right now it's 54º heading for a high of 63.  That's not too bad but the rain makes it feel cooler.  And it's supposed to rain all day!

AMY, got the recipe.  I'm going to try it but like you suggest, I'll cut it in half!  It sounds good!

SHIRLEY, I assisted my Dad with household repairs as I was growing up and I knew how to do a lot of stuff.  But when I got married, we had a guy working at the store who could fix anything.  His job was to install washers and dryers or fix them as needed but he was good at most anything.  His name was Al and whenever I told my husband something around the house needed fixing I used to kid him that his answer was always "Don't worry! 'Al" do it!"  And he sent AL to do it!  I held stuff for him like I did for my dad but I didn't learn much from him.

Now, I'm announcing....I'M HEADING FOR THE KITCHEN TO INVENTORY THE FREEZER ON THE FRIDGE! And come H**l or high water, it's getting done today!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

What a day yesterday!  Storms, tornado warnings, hail, high winds all around us.  We had a lot of lightning and thunder and heavy rain but no wind or hail here at my house.  Loud thunder, lightning, and a brief flurry of small hail got me up at 5:30 this morning but the sun is shining right now.  More heavy storms expected this afternoon from the same storms that hit Tennessee yesterday.  This is not turning out to be an enjoyable Spring for people in the South!

I put a beef stew together in the crock pot yesterday afternoon and it will cook most of the day today for our dinner this evening, if the power doesn't go off.  I love a one-dish dinner.  I "may" make a blueberry tart to go with it.  Then again, I "may not".

Hope Jenny is doing better.  Wish we could hear from Gloria.

Take care,  All.

Good Morning everyone, well sun is shinning very bright here. Is 37º and sunny going for 58º they say. I went to VA last evening and seen the sawbones. they drew blood and put medicine in the same pluming they drew the blood out of. It made my headache better but did not make it go totally away.I got to bed at 12 and just woke up about 5 min. ago. I have a stuffy runny nose but not as bad as was yesterday.  they gave me a sack full of meds and a full page of instructions. I will have to go read them and see what they say, Nancy got up and went to church leaving me in bed asleep and a note saying where she was. Have a great day see you all later.

Good Morning,

Oh my goodness, Jenny - what an ending to your long trip!  I am so sorry about your fall and injuries and wish you the very best with your recovery.

My "adventure day" was fantastic!  My grandson (Sir Carson) has become very interested in the family history in my hometown.  He, his dad,  his uncle (#2 son) and I went so I could show him/them various family homes, locations of schools I attended and my memories of downtown.
I had found pictures from long ago and made arrangements with the couple who currently own and are restoring the building where my Dad's office was, to go upstairs and see its location.

The couple met us for lunch in the restaurant currently on the ground floor of that building and there was instant rapport between them and "my boys".  That turned into a tour of other buildings they're restoring and being able to go into the house my grandparents ordered from a catalog (not Sears), which they also own and have leased out.

The house I grew up in is for sale and #1 son (Carson's Dad) contacted the realtor and made arrangements for us to go through it, too.

(Why is it that everything looks so much smaller than it did when you were young?!?   ;D )

We also spent a bit of time out on the rural property we still own where sons/grandson go hunting and have camping trailers.

I managed to climb the steep stairs to the location of my dad's office and do all the walking except the tour of downtown buildings.  Had a pleasant visit with an old friend who happened to come along as I was waiting in the car for them.

I had spent Friday night at son's home and was glad when he offered to bring me home when we came back (it's a 2 1/2 hour drive) because I do sleep better in my own bed and knew I'd need to have a "leisurely" day today.  I slept hard for 9 hours last night and am a bit stiff and sore- but thrilled that I was able to do this project that had been on my bucket list for quite a while.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable and Blessed Palm Sunday.

Callie, what  delightful time you had!!Bet your heart smiled many times reminiscing in your journey.

Still raining here, let the neighbours dog out this morning and will go again in an hour or so to let him out. We did take our garbage away and no sign of the eagles. I think they are on nests now.

Lloyd, hope you're feeling better now..

GOOD PALM SUNDAY and HAPPY PASSOVER💐. I can not believe it is Easter time again.  Remember last year when the powers that be thought we would be going to church n Easter Sunday?  A year later and we barely can do that now.  COVID😩😢😭

JANE, I have copied your suggestion and I will do anything you suggest because YOU KNOW and have been through this😘. Thank you. Good for YOU...getting the freezer inventoried.... I need to do that too......but guess not in the immediate future.

AMY....not sure you mentioned trugs going to new homes here or in Norm's but I always smile and say "lucky people "!

I am sad to see that GLORIA is not posting.....bless her heart!

I had a shower today and it was frightening.....I am SO AFRAID of falling.  I have  to use my good hand to support my bad hand and arm and it was scary.  The things we just take for granted!  Bless my sweet husband... I am wearing him ragged taking care of me.  I had a hard time getting comfortable last night....tried the bed....IMPOSSIBLE tried another hair for 5 minutes then back to the recliner....Bob putting a pillow here and there and I finally got settled in.

CALLIE, we absolutely fell in love with Springdale area and know that our family will like this new location.  The club members have just opened their arms up to our kids and have treated them like family right from the start.  We all feel this is going to be a great fit for them.  Loved hearing about the family outing....how exciting and fun for you all.  I agree, our big homes and buildings are much smaller now when we see them😘. We did not get to Bentonville but head it is a great place to be.

PHYLLIS, I am sad for all of you folks that have been dealing with these awful spring storms.  Our Boston Family is getting it now.  No word about any of our family in the Birmingham area and if they got damage from the tornados😩😩

SHIRLEY....always something that needs repaired.....hope Andy can help you soon.

Take care....enjoy the rest of your day.

Jenny

This day was another busy one and now it's over!  I'm ready for the haystack.  My eyes are having the "want to stay closed" problems again.

JENNY, I sent you an email.  Check it out and make a phone call.

Phyllis, I'm in favor of "one pot meals" too.  I'm getting so dirty dishes have reached the top of my "dislike" list.

I typed up my Freezer inventory list and it's magnetized to the side of my fridge.  There are three dishes of "IDKW" in there that I'll have to deal with soon.  One looks like it might be spaghetti sauce and one looks like chicken broth but I have no idea what the the other one is!

Mickie is getting antsy and that usually means she's ready for a outie.  So I'll go take her out and then head for the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

The wind must be young, as it was out howling all night and still is. Our power did flicker but didn't go off.......so far.
We are off for an appointment this morning then home to continue the day doing ????

Jane, way to go!! Now if I  could get my freezer done! I bet I have some mystery meals in there also.

Jenny, we had a bath chair to put in the shower and we put an adjustable shower head that one could hold and move about for our friend.

Gloria, hope you are feeling better..

Better shake a leg and get moving here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

we had a BAD night!  Mickie must have picked up something to eat outside that really upset her stomach.  We went to bed about 11 and at 1:25 she wanted down.  I tried to talk her out of it but it didn't work and before we got to the door, she barfed on the floor.  After that, it was every 20 minutes to a half hour until around 4 a.m.  Since 4 a.m until just now....twice more.  And she can't keep anything down.  When the vet is open at 8, I'm calling them.

I'm beat right down to my socks!

Yesterday's severe thunderstorms consisted of one really loud one that got me out of bed at 5:30!  Other than that we just had rolling clouds and an occasional sprinkle.  I was so glad that the weather people were wrong in their predictions for our area.

A gorgeous, bright moon was shining during the night and a bright sun is in the sky this morning.  So nice and makes the spirits feel lifted.

I've got some "mystery meals" in the freezer, too, but at least I had room enough to put the Easter ham in there.  I'll sort the mysteries later.....maybe.

Laundry day.  Take care, All.

JaneS sorry you and puppie had a bad night.I had the best short night I have had in a long time. went to bed at about 12 and went to sleep soon after and up about 30 Min ago and filled the garden tub turned the jets on and wallard around so the jets hit me all around. really felt goooood. sun is bright here 45º and going to the upper 70º's the other day when I went to VA they poked me all over both arms trying to get in a vain's and I have black and blue spots over both arms. not sure it is worth it to try to stay healthy. Have a good day and a better tomorrow.

I didn't take notes so will hit the things I remember for now.... Jenny, Cas bought a chair for the bath/shower & also put in a "hand held" shower head (it also had the clamp to stay in place), but the chair he bought was a mistake... he thought the largest seat with a back would suit him but it was TOO big and the back prevented him from turning around on the seat to exit either end of the tub. He sawed the metal poles off that held the back (quite a chore) but was never happy with the extra large seat/base, even tho that bath tub was extra large. Just a warning. Right now that seat holds a large potted plant with a cat bed underneath. Tiger likes the sunny spot. Know this is all such a trial as it was with the "pink bunny, Jane"... But aren't you glad we're all so understanding ? <grin>

Callie, I can't think of a better outing than what you had!  Do hope someone was taping or doing video of your time. I have a audio & video tape of my father telling about the house his parents had built when Dad was a very young teen. Not sure there is any equipment it will play on now. At least I do have a memory of his description & the house still stands so 2 of my 3 kids have seen it. The youngest was at the house when it was being sold after Grandma died, but he doesn't remember much about it. He has hopes of visiting this summer but the owner is not likely to invite us in. :(

Got a busy day ahead, time to renew my conceal carry permit & takes a passport type photo plus other details that call for chasing around to do, unlike before Covid restrictions. Since I do carry when traveling, for noise as well as for protection (as I explained one time, because I can't run as fast as before if someone wants to grab my camera equipment  ;) )... At any rate, everything takes a little longer to do the older I get & need this done before the next eye surgery. Does anyone else have the feeling of being pushed with summer coming so fast we skipped spring? Was super cold recently, coat weather, after a few warm days & today is to be near 80. That's HOT in my book. We also have a wind/fire warning. Whine, whine, whine....

MONDAY, MONDAY 🌷🌷

Doing better each day!  Thanks to all the love and support and my BOB.  It is like having a new baby in the house....and I am the baby!

Thank you, JANE for your email regarding a shower seat and everyone else who suggested what item would help making a shower safer.  I guess it is trial and error regarding the safest style of seat.  We have a hand held sprayer however the hose is not that long.  I remember we bought a extra long hose for my dad when Bob was showering him at some point in the past.  The one thing we need is safety bars.....we have wanted to get them but hoped to remodel our shower and have them installed then.  Problem is....with only the use of one hand now....and the need to use it to hold my arm/shoulder in place.....how could I hold a safety bar🤪🤪

It will be 70 degrees today with a snow storm to follow tonight into tomorrow......crazy spring weather ☔️  I just want it to clear up and not be slippery when I have to go out Wednesday.

SHIRLEY, you have a lot to accomplish before your next eye surgery.  Isn't it GREAT that you can get out and about to get these tasks done? Good luck!

JANE, last nights dinner consisted of a frozen slice of meatloaf I did a month or so ago...cut into a nice slices that allowed Bob to fix easily.  He just happened to see them in my freezer that is in dire need of organizing!  I wish I had more prepared ones available, but we have been using them up!

Due to Covid, Bob and I have done so much more cooking together from scratch than ever before.  Because of this, he can and will jump in and try his best to make us healthy meals.  His specialty is fresh chicken with a little olive oil and some spices cooked in the air fryer!  Yummy.

Enough for now...have a good day, EVERYFRIEND💐

Jenny

Good Afternoon,

Busy day!  Had a regular "maintenance" dentist appointment (all well) - then took check for bill by optometrist office (due today; I received it Saturday!!!!), got glasses tightened and took manilla envelope and box for returning t.v. remote that had to be replaced to post office for mailing.
I learned there that returning a box with address label saying USPS Ground Mail has to be taken to another place; that location wasn't on my route and I was tired of dealing with traffic...so I came home!!!!

Shirley,  I already had the history of both houses plus pictures of the way they used to be. Actually have the original page of the catalog grandparent's house was ordered from (Gordon-VanTine...not Sears).
Really wouldn't have been appropriate to do a video and, when I asked the guys if anyone took pictures they said they were too busy looking and talking to the couple showing us around to even think about it.  I doubt that anyone will be interested in seeing the houses again and I think the couple will make sure the guys see the office floor when restoration is finished.
I'm satisfied and still glowing about the day.

Jenny, sounds as if things are going pretty well for you.  "Slow but Sure" is the byword. :smitten:
Carson won't be moving to Bentonville because he's been assigned to a huge project near Dallas. He does get a housing stipend in addition to his salary. Good thing he has a month between graduation and start date.

Time to find something for lunch.  Thought about stopping for fast food on the way home but nothing sounded good.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Merry Monday.

A quick good night to everyfriend!  Having a sick animal is harder than having a sick child, I think.  You can put the child in bed or on the sofa and mostly they'll sleep but a dog is constantly wandering the house and looking for a place to barf or go and you need to follow them constantly so you can take them out when necessary.  I'm all in but my shoe strings tonight and they're coming in fast.  So I'm off to hit the haystack and I hope Mickie is ready to conk out for the night.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God blessy us, every one.  And may you all feel better!

I tell you all think clearly before signing anything. what we thought to be a true friend coned us into selling our place and supposed to have lifetime rights and then he has tried to kick us out. and so far we have spent $10,000 in legal fees and are not to the end yet. it is called exportation if I spelled it correctly. Have a good day.stress causes heart attacks I have had four so far. no fun,

Good morning...

The day is to be overcast and may get some rain. Temp is sitting at 30° at the moment. Yesterday went well, noticed a bit of flooding of banks on the way home. One fellows garden area is totally under water and will get worse.

Today is a multitude of jobs to do.not sure if we will get them all done . Need information of triple mix for the trugs,  check on where I can get cardboard to lay on the ground under the trugs and put some in  them and  drop off a script.

Jane, did the vet give you an answers on why Mickie is sick? In the city, dogs have been picking up candy laced with pot??? Kids take their parents  pot candy and when they taste it ,throw it away. This is all thanks to our powers that be when he legalized marijuana.

Lloyd, no point in telling you to stop worrying but it will only hurt you and not make anything change. You need to look after you..

Phyliss, I am not a fan of thunderstorms only because they really bother Babe. Nothing will calm her down.

Patricia, where are you???

Callie, good for Carson! Is Dallas an area he wants to be in?

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  AMY, right now, we have the same temp you do and it's COLD!  We're supposed to reach the mid 60s later today but that's only for a couple of hours.  I take it!

I didn't call the vet because Mickie seemed to be improving and beginning to keep down small amounts of regular food.  Last night she told me in no uncertain terms that she wanted to go out and she proved it when we went.  She also ate a decent meal last night and slept through the night.  I think it was something she picked up and ate outside and it upset her insides.  This morning she at a decent meal and as soon as I get dressed we'll take a walk and then we'll see.

LLOYD, good luck with you "due process" when you go to court.  I hope it all works out the way you need it to do!

Good Morning to whoever else shows up!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

So glad Mickie is better this morning, Jane, regardless of what non-pet owners might think, it
is as nerve wracking to have a sick pet as a sick child, right?  Hugs...

Amy, my Tom is as afraid of storms as your Babe.... he hides in the hall as long as he can keep track of where I am, where he can't see the flashes of lightning or hear the thunder as much.

Have a pan of brownies in the oven to take to the eye doc's office. They have a coupon for the eye drops that should help bring the price down some from the well over $200 discount price at the pharmacy. She gave me a sample to try & no bad reaction & since the implanted alternative used on the other eye was thought to be the cause of weeks of redness/conjunctivitis, got to use this. I put lots of pecans in the brownies so "they are good for us"  ;) ....  My motorhome mechanics always ask to make sure, if I'm going to bring them brownies. Doesn't make the bill any cheaper but I know they are more careful so I make it home okay! As my mama always said, "Treat people the way you'd like to be treated" and this whole eye group has gone above & beyond taking care of my crazy eyes. Tiger is waiting for a treat. Tom in my bedroom asleep & Callie laying in the sun asleep. Life is good.....

Good morning, I'm here. There's just nothing to talk about that hasn't been said before. It's twenty-four degrees presently heading toward a high of thirty-five. The snow is melting, looks like dirty clumps of cotton out there with lots of humidity. However, there is a heavy snow warning for the northwest of here which may bring even more snow.

Turns out that coupon for Lotemax is only if you have part D, if anyone would have said that before I drove across town I'd have saved myself the trip. Doesn't make sense that the little vial they implanted during surgery is covered by Medicare & my Blue Cross, but the drops I must do manually cost me $227. so far. After just paying taxes I am in no mood for being hijacked by the government & pharmaceuticals for over priced anything!  :tickedoff:

Got that out of my system so need to find something to eat. Spring turned into winter today, that wind has a bite! Sure looks like the wind is pulling the blossoms right out of their little cocoons, colors showing everywhere & a green haze over all the trees today. Noticed kids down the street going by on their bikes with coats on & hoods up. Mom was walking along with her phone stuck to her ear. No wonder kids are growing up without any common sense when Mom never has time to just TALK to them. Guess I need to get my head adjusted, keep grouching about whatever comes to mind. I'm going to the corner to sit & eat worms. :sealedlips:  :whip:

Good afternoon EVERYFRIEND.  Another day.....doing pretty well I think.  Tomorrow is my doctor appointment and I am frightened to death thinking about how I am going to get dressed......comb my hair......get out of my house with steps....get into the car.....all things that I certainly take for granted with two useable arms. 😩😩😩

SHIRLEY, seniors are taken advantage of regarding medications prices all the time!  Doctors prescribe these wonderful new drugs and they tell you there are coupons to use but these coupons are for people not on Medicare....I am sorry as I feel your frustration.....if you need these drops for this eye after surgery they should be included in the cost.....GURRRRR.

PATRICIA..... good to see your post....seems all I have to talk about is complaining about ME .....the awful things going on in the world today and seniors being taken advantage of!  Hope you are feeling better now.

JANE, I am sorry Mickie has not been feeling well, but it sounds like she is getting better, so that is good news.

AMY, loved catching up on your day......hope it went well for you.

LLOYD, I hope and pray justice is served in your court hearing.....shame shame on that man that took advantage of you and Nancy.

Have a good evening EVERYFRIEND.

Whoever coined the phrase  "cheap as dirt" has never bought dirt for it is NOT cheap!!

Passing Shirley the ketchup.  if you're gonna sit in the corner and eat worms you should have some sort of dipping sauce :)

Jenny ,sounds like you are in good hands and will over come this set back. Yes, the day did go well and I did get some work done here.

Jane, glad to hear Mickie is on the mend. Hope her tummy has settled down and she has a good night..

Enjoy your evening..

Hello Everyfriend!  I was supposed to go to lunch (my first outing in over a year) with some of the people I used to work with in the PA House Furniture Office.  However, Frankie overslept and she didn't have time to drop off Cooper so Mickie would have been alone and she doesn't like that since we lost Annie a while back.  So I called them and told them I'd try for the next time.

Yes, SHIRLEY, pets are just as demanding (and very loving) as children are.  But you can't explain things to them when the situation is going to be different.  And they are so loyal that I don't have the heart to make them suffer.  And I know you don't either.

The temperature came up into the low 60s this afternoon but the wind came up to and, while the sun was out, it was so windy that there was a bit of a chill still in the air.  The Daffodils are out of the ground and blooming their little heads off and so are the tulips.  I keep singing "Daffy down dilly has come up to town, in a yellow peticoat and a green gown..." remembered from my school days.

Now I'm off to the haystack.  I have some recipes laid out that I want to try tomorrow so it will be an "eating" day for me.  Frankie is off so will probably stop by and maybe help me with the eating part.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

DARN IT!  I keep wanting to comment on your hometown visit, CALLIE and I keep forgetting.  That must have been a special day for all of you!  I can just imagine!

Another day of very little planned other than pick up a few things for my friend and then home to do ...whatever :)))

Jane hope Mickie is back to her old self today..

Sure wish we would hear from Gloria and Joy.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning to AMY and whoever else shows up in here later today.

AMY, I got up to 54º this morning and it was wonderful.  The sun is peeping out from behind the clouds and it looks like it's going to be a good day.  And I'm not going to dweell on the fact that "they" are promising us temps in the low 30s overnight and tomorrow and they are even promising us snow tomorrow!  I refuse to even think about it!

I have sweet potato soup cooking for supper and I'm working on a casserole for lunch.  When Frankie stops by, if WalMart is on her agenda today, I'm going to have her grab a couple of apples so I can make AMY's bread pudding...maybe tomorrow.

I'm in cooking mode this week!

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Hello, Joy and Gloria if your looking in!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that I hated to see it end.  Today we are supposedly back to the "new norm" of severe storms this afternoon.  The fickleness of Spring.

I am having trouble with my left foot so I spent most of the day yesterday emailing back and forth to my primary doctor about her referral to a vascular physician.  That was, according to her, accomplished and now I'm waiting for a call from the vascular doctor's office to set up an appointment.  I would give anything I could to not start up with yet another doctor but I guess it is necessary once again.

I've given practically no thought to Easter but must remember to move the 8 1/2 lb. ham to the fridge tomorrow to thaw for three days....in time to put it in the oven for Sunday dinner.  What to have to go with it....at the moment, I have no idea.  :idiot2:

Jane, I have thought for a very long time to mention to you but kept forgetting.  When we lived in NY we had a Pennsylvania House furniture store there and I would look in at their showroom and yearn.  I loved their furniture....just the beautiful style that appealed to me.

I hope everyone is feeling better and that life is smoother for All today.

PHYLLIS, with the PA House factory right here in town, I got used to seeing it around.  Then when I was about to be married, we went shopping at the one and only furniture store in town.  It was owned by the father of one of my best (boy) friends and he showed us a lot of things.  I didn't really like the modern stuff on the first floor and I finally said, "don't you have anything that isn't this light color?"  He said, "Come with me".  And as soon as we got upstairs and into the PA House stuff, I found exactly what I wanted.  My bedroom is still what we bought that day!  And then when I went to work in the office at the factory, we got everything at cost plus 10%.  And I added some special pieces.

CALLIE has a couple pieces of PA House furniture, too.  I was a Customer Service Rep and we each had a territory in the US that was our special place.  I had, the West Coast, Oklahoma, Canada and the rest of the world.  No one else wanted to deal with the problems involved in shipping furniture out of the country so I got it all.  I once sent bed side rail replacements to Lebanon (the country, not the town in Pa).  I loved my job.

And I still love my furniture!
