Jamaica Farewell
Harry Belafonte

Down the way where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship
But when I reached Jamaica, I made a stop

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, head is turning around
I've got to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Down in the market you can hear
Women cry out while on their heads they bear
Akky rice and fish on ice
And the rum is fine any time of the year

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, head is turning around
I've got to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Sounds of Iaughter everywhere
And the dancing girls sway to and fro
I must declare, my heart is there
Although I've been from Maine to Mexico

But I'm sad to say I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, head is turning around
I've got to leave a little girl in Kingston town

Mydoctor appointment with Dr. Dragoo went very well and I could not have asked for better care......however the diagnosis was not what I hoped for😩😩. The arm is definitely back in the socket where it needs to be, but there is a fracture that must be surgically repaired.  Dr. Dragoo brought in the surgeon that will do this repair and he talked us through the procedures that are recommended.  This will be done at a hospital.  They hope to go in with a wire and snag the piece, which is a decent size and very likely will be able to be put in place, but if they can not successfully do this they will open the shoulder up and put a plate and screws in to do it correctly.  Long story short......either way it will be a LONG recovery time.....estimated to be 6 months or longer of healing and physical therapy and a goal of a year to have it back in good working condition.

Not the news I was praying for😩😘

Pleasant dreams.

Good morning..

Bubble ,thank you for the new start page and the giggles. Someone in this house paints that way...he said he doesn't mind painting floors as it all falls that way. Love the Conway saying.

Mother nature is playing a trick on us with snow....not a lot but it is still falling..
Need to pick up some groceries  for us and my friend ,then home to work. Made muffins yesterday and put some in the hidy hole to go with your morning coffee..

Jenny, not what you wanted to hear but you are in the best of care. Pray that it will be an easy surgery for you and fast healing time.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Well, we have a nice new, cleaned up and redecorated place, thanks to BUBBLE.  I too, like the Conway saying but now I have to go find my Harry Belafonte CD with that song on it!  Many years ago, I had the privilege of hearing HB in concert in Philadelphia and he sang that song.  He was very good in concert and I still enjoy the CD.

AMY, we had an "April Fools' Day Snowfall" overnight too.  It didn't last but it was still coming down cold and wet when I took Mickie out around 6 a.m.  And the temp has only got up to 34º so far today.  Not going to be a good day, I think!

Frankie spent the night here and she's still sleeping....or maybe sleeping again.  I think I heard her up sometime during the night.  Cooper managed to join us for breakfast and has been out once but he's waiting for her to go for a walk.

I'm off to the kitchen to try to make AMY'S Bread Pudding.  Frankie got me apples when she did her shopping yesterday so I'm ready.  And I can almost taste it!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Great graphics and text, Bubble, thank you so much for all your thoughtfulness and talent.

Cats are needing care, Tom & Callie wanted out after their salmon breakfast but want back in. They forgot to use the litter box before going out & don't like using the yard.  :o  Kind of nippy out and they are used to sitting on or by a furnace vent all night. Supposed to be warmer all week end & next week. Tiger doesn't care much about going out unless I'm going to walk them to the river. She will sit at the sliding door to watch the others but when I start to open to let her out she just runs off like this is some kind of game. I don't lead a very wild & crazy life.  :crazy2:

Happy April Fools day everyone.   This
is a good sign... April is the beginning of
much warmer weather with better days
ahead.

Jenny,  I am so sorry to hear of your
broken shoulder and hope that the easiest
surgery will make for a speedier recovery...

Not fair...  One year of Covid followed by
one more year recuperating from a fall.   NOT FAIR!

Wishing everyone a better day today

Not very good news, Jenny.  I'm sorry.  But, I'm glad you like your doctor.

Chilly and windy here but no snow.  Sun is shining brightly.

Take care, All.

I have AMY'S Apple Struesel Bread Pudding in the oven.  I'm going to have it for my lunch.  However, I had two problems to solve while putting it together.  One was easy and one was unsolvable!  AMY suggested that I might want to cut the recipe in half and since I've been doing that anyway, I cut it.  It was fine until I got to the line that said,  "3 eggs"  I don't know any way to cut an egg in half!  Does anyone else here know that?

The other problem was the raisins.  I didn't have any!  And my first thought was, "I guess it will be OK without them."  And then my eyes lighted on a bag of dried cranberries.  So that's what took the place of the raisins!

I'll let you know how it all tastes after lunch!

JENNY, at least when I broke my arm it was right at the beginning of the shutdown not at the end of it!  I didn't even notice the shutdown for severaly months!  I hope your time passes quickly and that your pain is mostly unnoticeable.  Prayers coming your way.

Good morning, it's only two above this morning with an expected high of sixteen. Tomorrow we are said to return to the twenties and thirties with snow until the tenth. Not what I wanted to hear, nor I expect others. Winter seems to have a strong grip on us this year and isn't letting go.

Other than that, no real news. More people are getting cases of Covid again altho no new deaths. People open things back up, and the disease flares up again. Monday, we had two cases and fifty-eight on Tuesday. Officials are saying that only the large number of vaccinations has saved us from much worse.

As I mentioned,  last weeek I went out
and went to Trader joes and Good Will...  so this week
I have put my order into Hannaford and Kelly will be
picking up and bringing it to me.  Just as
she has been doing this past year of Covid.

I wanted to go back out again but as Patricia mentioned,
getting out too fast could be very dangerous for all of
us...   so I opted to get back to being very very careful.
As that  has worked so well for all of us here
in Maine.

Being careful will be my top priority
from now on.

Peace

THANK YOU for your kind a supportive words EVERYFRIEND ❣️

Happy Maunday Thursday / April Fools Day. Sun is shining and we are going to have some beautiful days ahead.  It is so very hard to get out of my house with steps, but I would love to go outside and soak in some sunshine.

I have heard the issues of Covid continue and it scares me that so many places are opening up totally....and masks are no longer required😳😳 It is up to US to take care of ourselves and do what we feel comfortable with.

SANDY, I am thinking pretty much what you said....."NOT FAIR"!!
And yes,I, too wish my time of this recovery would have been during Covid and not have to be a shut in again like we have been, JANE.

WE ALL KNOW that life is not one bit fair at some times and yet at any given moment we must open our eyes and see how lucky or blessed we are as many others are so much worse off than we are😂

My surgery and Michele's were both scheduled this morning.  Michele's is on for a week from today.  She will be in the hospital fo 5 to 7 days, unfortunately not at a close facility for Dave to easily get to....they will be putting rods and plates in to stabilize her spine.  I have not heard a recovery time but I am pretty sure it will be a long one.  😩😢🙏

Mine is scheduled for a week from tomorrow at a very close hospital to our home.  Mine is on my Dad's 97th Birthday.......guess I will not be forgetting the date of it ever!

BUBBLE, thank you for our nice new SS.  WONDERFUL sayings and truisms  you have shared with us.  HUGS.

PEACE 💐 LOVE 🌷 ALL AROUND

JENNY

Well, AMY's Apple struesel dessert was and is very good but I think the next time I make it, I won't cut the liquid in half.  I remember my grandmother's bread pudding being wetter and I'm sure the regular recipe (uncut) for this one must be wetter.  I'm going to leave the liquids the way they are and cut the rest of the stuff and see what happens.  Frankie took a piece of it home with her to have with her supper.  She promised to let me know what she thinks.  It doesn't really matter because I'm hooked!

JaneS well I hope you are getting good rest and your sleep you said you are going for. wish I was also, but not so. we are going for our third day in court today.Lawler says things are going  good In our favour. but I am still stressed out any way. Bob told our son in law yesterday he was not going to kick us out of our house even if we loose in court. all I have to say to that is why he did not let us Pay him back and get it back  in our Name and leave us alone. we still need all the prayers you can give in our favor. I am going back to see if I can get some of those zzzzzz's.

Good morning...

We are back to the chilly weather ,18° but it is going to be a nice sunny day.

Made pastry yesterday and will do some baking today and work about the house. Seems housework is never ending.

Jane, I agree ,I like more "custard" in my bread pudding too in fact I whipped up some custard to put over top of the pudding.

Lloyd, that man will pay for what he has put you through...one way or another. Prayers that all works out in your favour.

Jenny, at least you do not have to wait long and can soon be on the road to recovery. Prays that all goes well for both you and Michele. She never fails to amaze me.

Phyllis, windy and cold here too...but soon the warmer weather will be here to stay .
Patricia, with that cold weather your snow will want to stay until June!!

Best put that egg in my boot and beat it...sure wish we would hear from Joy and Gloria.

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning everyone. Thanks AMY, I never slept well again, Kept thinking what and how to get it to the judge, Oh well today will settle it one way or the other. I know god will have his way, I just hope it is our way, I love people and just want to help where I can. my grand son heard Bob tell someone he was going to not kick us out even if we lost in court. well I jus wonder why he is doing this then. all we were trying to do was pay back the $$ he has put out and get our place back. I am 83 years of age and ben suggested to quit driving.
I would be satisfied to do that for the most part. Grand son or daughter would one or the other would gladly take us where we need to go, one of our two daughter's would one. we have both daughter's Live close, One or the other of there spouse's would take us where we need to go. Have a good day see you later.

Good Morning Everyfriend1  We woke up to snow on the ground today!  I'm not in favor or snow in April and when it leaves, I hope it stays away until winter is due back.  I also dislike winter coats in April!  I don't mind a jacket but I'm really tired of winter coats etc.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Here's to Easters spent remembering what the holiday is really about: peace, forgiveness, love,  having endured a year + of so many uncertainties and were not out of the woods yet.
However, hang on a little longer and the true rejoining will await us vaccinated or not wear a mask, social distance and wash wash wash
Rejoice silently or with safe people...Pray soon we can dance with the devil being virus free and it vanishing from the world.

Good morning from a chilly Interior at minus eight. We were scheduled to have a low of thirteen and a high of seventeen, but someone missed the memo. We are still having snow even while it tries to melt. I have never seen snow remaining at Easter altho the news says it has happened in the past.

I'm still recovering at seven weeks, but I've noticed the dampness and barometric pressure have more to do with that than my injury. I'm hoping that all of us are more careful and have an easier and faster recovery.

I'm going to attempt to go to the bank and pay some bills this next week. I'm seemingly fine until I try to stay on my feet any length of time, but that may mean more mini exercises.

Jenny, you and Michele have been on my mind, and I'm hoping for good news from your coming appointments.

Amy, don't mention the snow remaining! Here, everyone is so sick of it!

We are running on generator power at the moment here..Thank goodness for the generator!! Power should be back on by 12.30 or so.

Patricia, we still have some snow that was piled up by the snow blower but that is about it.. Do you take your rollator with you when you shop? At least if you have it, it would be a place to sit and rest a bit.

JANE!! Please keep the snow your way..

Amy, I don't have a rollator. I have a very basic walker that the hospital is overcharging me for. Since March fifth, I haven't been out of my building when a senior agency gave me a quick to and from home to the bank and back.

good Morning everyone. well we had the last day of a three day court battle yesterday, Now is wait and see what the judge has to say. and that will be several days later now. I say once again get legal counsel first and get it properly documented, witness will purger them selves and there is nothing you can say you have to just set still and keep your mouth shut, I know I got called down two or three times and told I could be escorted out of the court room. you have to weight and tell your Lawler what was that bothered you. and let him introduce it Later and that may be too Late the damage is already done. Have a great day. see you later.

Lloyd, for sure whatever you do that involves someone else needs to be put on paper by a lawyer. We lived next door to a nice couple that had moved in with their uncle to take care of him his last years (quite a few). It was "understood" that the house would be theirs instead of payment for taking care of him. Don't know if they lived rent free but their kids grew up in that house. When the uncle died the will left everything to be divided among all the other kin that never did a thing for him and the couple had to move out of the house because they couldn't afford to buy it from the others. They were retired & should have had a home paid for by that time. Sadly, they did not have it done right and had spent many years taking care of him for NO pay. It was a lesson I won't forget and any time someone does something for me I PAY them for the deed and hope to leave this life owing nobody anything! I wish you a happy end to this worry, and a Happy Easter with all of your family.

Long before Cas died we had identical wills made out leaving everything to our 3 kids equally, nothing to anyone else. As my mother told us long before she died, "whatever they had left would go to us 5 kids and if they/we didn't have anything left to leave our kids, then Shame on us!" If the government stays out of our pocket we should have enough left over to make our 3 smile, but we never know how much care we'll need before that last breath, right?

Lots to do today, like cleaning house & digging out summer clothes. Lucky the ones I've dug out so far still fit, I haven't changed weight for 30 some years (it just shifted around & doesn't look so good these days, but the clothes still fit).

This is a day to ponder and pity what Jesus' parents had to suffer so many years ago, watching their son be tortured & die when all he ever did was be kind to others. Even today we have people in power that abuse their power for selfish reasons, I'm referring to ALL politicians & people with power over others, that have no heart. Love to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Shirley you are very correct, seams we learn the hard way. I just pray that this judge is a christen and god is directing him. the hard part is weighting un till he decides to send his answer to our Lawler next week. at least we have a pretty clear comfortable day. I think I will go dig some fishing worms, and when the great grand son gets home it isn't too late today to go fishing. I have promised him I would go fishing with him. enjoy your day.

It is a beautiful Saturday here in the Mile High City 🌸🌼🌼🌷🌹. The windows are open and the fresh air feels wonderful.

I am sad that EVERYFRIEND is not enjoying some beautiful weather😩

LLOYD, you and Nancy are on my mind and I trust that this nightmare can be resolved in your favor.  We all have learned a hard lesson at some time in our minds and I just hope this one will rule in your favor!

SHIRLEY, my parents did a irrevocably trust.....shortly after my dear mom passed my brother stepped in and had my dad change it....we do not think the new one can possibly be legal, but from many sources we have been told it probably is!!!  Guess I do not understand the meaning of IRREVOCABLE 😡🧐😡🧐 In another case a only daughter stepped in at the last second and managed to get her mom to change the will that her dad and mom had, and awh lay, she got it all with no problems at all.  Sadly, the grandchildren that were raised by the grandparents did not fight it!  So?  Guess that is why!

I had a telephone call from my dad a bit ago and he was so excited and happy as he had just returned from having his drivers license renewed for another four years!  I am happy for him, but do not really understand how any state would allow him to drive.  At least I know he will never be driving again, although he certainly would like to😘

It will be a beautiful Easter Sunday here tomorrow and oh how I wish it could be a traditional one....dressing up in a cute dress and going to a special service.....seeing others enjoying themselves.  Children hunting Easter Eggs. My little Jonah will be going to his Daddy's Golf Club and will participate in a egg hunt.  They are going to do a egg hunt run for him today so he knows what to expect.  He colored eggs and had a fun time already.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday 💐

Good Afternoon,

It's sunny and mild in central Oklahoma and supposed to stay that way until mid-week.

Jenny,  I have an irrevocable trust and think that means only the listed trustee(s) can change it.  Your brother couldn't do it himself but your Dad could - such as listing a successor Trustee since your Mom had passed.  Hopefully, he didn't change the terms of the Trust.
Hope your recovery is going as well as can be expected.
Love the "practice" egg hunt for Jonah.

Tomorrow will be a topsy-turvy Easter for me.  Family who's in town want to come for Brunch because Easter is "traditionally" the opening day for fishing with dil's family and they're planning to spend the afternoon with that group.  I haven't physically gone to church yet - so will plan to watch the rebroadcast of the service and read the paper after they've gone tomorrow afternoon.

My Brunch "assignment" is fruit salad and set-up but I have molasses cookie dough chilling and will bake those when I've wished...

...Everyfriend Everywhere a Blessed and Happy Easter Day.

Good morning

Happy Easter to you...quiet celebrations here today. Can't wait until families can all gather with hugs abound and sit at one tables again.

Crow is really vocal this morning. Yesterday while hanging laundry out I was listening to a sympathy of birds.....all the small birds we singing with crows cawing over head then the geese on the lake not wanting to be left out honking. The neighbour rooster who has his timing off, started crowing.

Need to get a cakes baked so I had better get at it.

Enjoy your day, stay safe and have a Happy Easter.

I guess I'm not too late to say...

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYFRIEND!

We had dinner at my daughter Cathy's house and it was just the three of us.  It was very nice but we all agreed that we can't wait until we can get the family together again. The day itself was beautiful...sunshine and a light breeze...just perfect for Easter!

It's been a tiring day and I'm ready for the haystack.  AMY, the video wasn't available to me either but it looked like it might be interesting to see.  Thanks for trying.

I'm off to capture a few zzzzzs before they capture me.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Gloria it is so good to "see" you!!! I am sure Yvette is a God send to you and hope you will feel up to posting more when you can. You are healing when you sleep..body is not under any stress then.

Not  a busy day here but one that sends us to pick up cardboard from a furniture store. This will be put on the ground (to kill the grass) and then set the trugs on top.

I am sorry the video didn't work Jane, try this and see..

So good to see you, Gloria.  Sleep is good for you but glad you felt like checking in.

Another beautiful day here on what is locally called Easter Monday and is, for a few, still a holiday.  I don't know why.

EDIT:  I googled it and found this:   After years of being the only state observing Easter Monday, North Carolina changed in 1988 and started observing Good Friday as the holiday. Backers of the change said the Monday holiday put businesses out of step with the rest of the country.

North Carolina customs can sometimes be a little strange.

Take care, All.

BUBBLE and AMY, that was absolutely beautiful!  I actually had shivers listening to it!  I don't think I'll forget it soon.

We've been up and about for a while with lots of stuff to do (mostly paying bills and getting the accounts in order).  I put that job on the back of the desk pretty often but once I get started, I stick at it until I can relax and know I'm OK for a while.  I've always hated doing the "math"!

It's a beautiful day here also...sun shining, temps in the mid 60s...the kind of day you like to out in!

GLORIA, it's so good to "see" you here!  I always do a little "chair dance" when people show up who have been gone a while!

I'm getting ready to have some lunch.  It's time and my tummy is telling me so.  I hope you are all having a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning, it's only plus nine presently and the third day of an atmospheric sleet and ice storm. I've never seen this much snow or any lasting past the Easter holiday in almost seventy years.

Today I'll need to go to the bank and grocery via taxi, my first trip outside since last March fifth. It's been eight weeks and still healing.

Gloria, it's so nice to see your post!

Cataracts gone & I made it thru!! I kept telling the crew taking care of me that "I'm not the least afraid of the surgery, (this doctor has got to be the best), but knowing they must put me out & have changed meds from last time so no way to know what these new ones will do. My BP was over 200 even with meds so another kind used that worked. Not sure I was out completely but no problems so far. After my brother dying from an almost routine procedure a year ago, because of meds.... I really wanted them to cut back all they could. It's OVER so not on with getting new glasses made & a brighter tomorrow.

Gloria, so glad to see your post. I'm guessing that having Yvette back to look after you your mind & body was ready to relax. My mother always said that "sleep is the best medicine".

Amy, thanks for trying & the thought and Bubble, thanks for finding a link so we could see it. Such a haunting melody and those girls are so talented. I do think that is one of my favorites of all religious pieces.

Must get off the computer, the light bothers my eyes. Our temp is 77° but very windy. A beautiful spring day, for sure.

A good Monday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 💐

SO happy to see your post GLORIA.  I think about you and pray for you daily.  God bless Yvette for being there for you🥰

AMY, I could not view your site either, but now I have and it was as wonderful as I expected it to be!  Thank you BUBBLE for your assistance.

SHIRLEY, I prayed for a successful surgery for you and I thank you for letting us know it is done and went well🥰

JANE, seems you have another busy day planned....hope it goes well.

We did go to Dave and family for Easter Dinner. It was wonderful to see them all.....our meal was wonderful.....lamb, ham, scolloped potatoes, veggie meadly, sweet potato casserole.  DELICIOUS🌸  Michele is of course still in sever pain...she is laying on the couch , getting up only to go to the bathroom with help from Dave.  She was not able to join us at the table but Dave went and sat with her and we enjoyed a nice catch up chat with the children.  Michele shared more details about her up and coming surgery.  Her spine and pelvis area is so much worse than I knew, but with thoughts and prayers and guidance of her two surgeons hands, the outcome of this surgery will be nothing short of a miracle.  God only knows this girl deserves to have the outcome be exactly what they are hoping and projecting for her🙏🙏🙏

Before we headed home Dr. Dave put on yet ANOTHER hat and removed my stitches from my arm.  It felt so good to get them out‼️

I am waiting for a call from the hospital to hear when my pre op appointment will be and what time my surgery will be scheduled on Friday. Anxious to get 'er done, but fearful at the same time😩😩

Just talked to my dad.....my brother had a accident yesterday.....he was greasing the propeller of a model airplane he was taking to his son and families home to fly before their dinner....the propeller started and sliced his arm open.  He spent the rest of the day in the emergency room getting released with 9 interior stitches and 19 outside stitches‼️‼️‼️ I never ever want to say the dreaded "what else can go wrong", but could not help but think it!

I hope many will check in and tell us about their EASTER DAY.

HUGS and PRAYERS for EVERYFRIEND 🌷

Jenny

Easter Weekend Snow Dump

Fairbanks North Star Borough Schools will be closed on Monday as the region digs out from more than a foot of snow -- in places much more -- that fell over the Easter weekend.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities asked people to avoid traveling on the Parks Highway, as plows were unable to keep up from the falling and drifting snow. Some freezing rain also was reported in the area Saturday night.

Scattered power outages were reported this morning, and as the wind begins  picking up early this afternoon, more are expected.

As of 9 a.m., unofficial measurements showed more than 19 inches of snow on Old Murphy Dome Road, 14 inches in Goldstream, and almost a foot in Two Rivers. The official measurement on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus was 12.4 inches.

DOT said conditions are very difficult, and its drivers will be focusing on Priority 1 and 2 roads today and hope to get to Priority 3 and 4 roads tonight. (See dot.alaska.gov/wintermap )

According to Weather Service measurements, that's a new two-day April snowfall record for Fairbanks, eclipsing the previous record of 11.4 inches, set in 1948. According to climatologist Rick Thoman (@AlaskaWx) "heavy snows (or rain) in Fairbanks in April are unusual. Past 106 years, only six storms produced 6" (15cm) or more accumulation in two days."

Thoman also noted that Fairbanks' snowfall between March 29-April 3 would be at least 21 inches, well more than the 1948 record of 16.9".

After the storm moves through, temperatures in the Interior will drop sharply, with lows in the double digits below zero by midweek, according to the National Weather Service.

Needless to say, my trip was postponed.

I'm here, AMY, but the first time I came by, I'd have had to talk to myself so I went out in the kitchen and elsewhere and talked to myself while I got a head of cauliflower ready to cook, read and put away the daily newspaper, gathered up some laundry and threw it in the washer and had a text chat with my OK daughter!  All of it better than sitting on my b*** and talking to myself!

SHIRLEY, I loved the pics!

AMY, you've been to the store and back already?  Nice going!

Now I'm going to do a bit more paper work while the clothes wash and the cauliflower cooks and then it will be time for walks with the doggies and lunch!

Have a good day everyfriend!  Better one than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning.  Everyday I feel so much better....sure wish I could just continue to heal rather
her than have surgery and start the process over again😩😘

I have been waiting for the hospital to call since Friday about my pre op tests.  Getting concerned so Bob contacted my surgeons scheduler this morning, telling her we had not heard from hospital yet, she emailed the scheduler Beth AGAIN and gave us the number to call Beth if we did not hear from her within the hour.  Bob then called Beth.....Beth is not there, so they looked me up.....no info on me at all saying I need pre op.  Back to surgeons scheduler and then she contacted hospital and found out that Beth is out and now they will be calling me as two schedulers are ON it🤪

I just listened to your HALLELUJAH song again AMY to I calm my nerves😘. Yippee, snowblower has been put away!

PATRICIA, Iam sorry your outing did not happen do to another big snow😩😩

SHIRLEY, I hope you slept well and your eye is not causing you any problems.

Have a great day
Jenny

Been for the follow up call to the eye surgeon... all's well & even better! So much better than the problem with the other eye caused by the implanted eyedrops.  BUT the implant didn't cost me extra out of pocket & the tiny bottle was $227 (my cost) & will have to be refilled a couple more times. Sure not fair but can't be helped. I am thrilled to see so well, even with dragging out all the old glasses, the prescription from 5 or 6 years ago seems to work best until I get the new ones made. Surgeon recommends 3 weeks before testing for glasses.

Must go check out the photos Bubble posted for me. Not great at throwing bread & snapping the camera at the same time, especially with wind blowing as hard as it is. Nice fat fish, huh? They wait for my whistle & hang around as long as I talk to them. Guess they notice it isn't me if not talking & maybe realize it might be someone with a hook on the end of a pole. Not all here or maybe someone kept the others, the osprey enjoy their bread fed fish too.

This was a beautiful Spring day in Central PA!  The sun shone all day and there was a light breeze.  The temperature got into the mid 70s and it felt wonderful. We have to enjoy today because rain is predicted for most of the coming week.  At least is isn't snow!   I feel awful telling you all this when good weather stuff when PATRICIA's weather is so bad!  But I guess where we live is part of what makes us "who we are".

I got a lot done today...even made the ham slices for supper in the air fryer.  They were great!

Frankie got some bad news health wise today and we had some tears and some advice and I think she felt better when she left!

I think my eyes are just about ready to do their slamshut for the night so I better get off the computer and into the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.

Jane, when they tell you that this is only the sixth time in 106 years of this type of weather. Or that a once arid arctic has been breaking humidity records since that early 18-inch snowstorm in October. And you're in the midst of a historic pandemic, and you remember an old curse that says may you live in interesting times?  Keeping your head down may be the wisest course!

Well when the tell you a wield storm may well be true but check out the exact
location. I do not reamer the exact day In May, but In the middle of may, when i was a chelid we Had a + of two feet Of snow I the year of 1948. My step farther was courting My mother then. And he got a 1947 chivy car that was ordered in 1947 but never came in until 1948. he got stuck in a snow drift. It took him and us three boys the better part of three days to get it dug out and get it over to our hose. about a 1/2 hour after we got there the snow plow came buy and cleared the road. have a good rest of the night  good night.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's almost time for the boinger and doggie breakfast so this will be short.

PATRICIA, I think you have everything under control in your mind and you are a true Alaskan!  Good Luck to you!

LLOYD, you sure come up with  some vivid stories of the past!  That was a good one.  My father owned a 1939 Dodge back in the old days!  It was the first (and only) car he every bought new in his life and he still owned it in the late 40s when my sister learned to drive.  She always said that because she learned to drive that old monster, she could drive anything!

Gotta run!  The boinger is going off!  Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

GOOD EVENING EVERYFRIEND 🌷

JANE, sorry to read that Frankie had some bad heath news....so happy you are there for her.  Prayers for good answers for what ever the problem is🙏

I did get my pre op appointment done this morning and all is well and I have been almost cleared for surgery on Friday.  They want one last test to make the anesthesiologist happy..... a echocardiogram.  Of course they could not get me in for one today, so we have to drive to downtown Denver to another hospital to get it done  tomorrow afternoon.  Ugh.....getting showered and dressed and down the steps to the car is awful.....but we have to do what we have to do....so off we go!

Getting lots of calls....better post before I loose this.

PATRICIA, it was definitely meant as a compliment.  I get the feeling that you know what must be done and you do it!

AMY, good luck with the lockdown.  I hope others understand what it's all about and respect others.

Frankie seemed more composed today.  I think she's just going to wait for the rest and not dwell on what "could" happen.  I have a feeling that it's not as bad as she thought at first but we'll wait and see.  The prayers are welcome.  Thank you all!

JENNY, keep plugging away! Better times are coming!  You have our prayers, too!

Today was a gorgeous Spring day!  The high temp was 75º and it was absolutely beautiful out there.  The rain that was predicted for today came in the very early hours before we were out of bed and that's fine.  We got the moisture we needed and it came at the best possible time!

I'm heading for the haystack early tonight because these eyes just seem to have a mind of their own.  If they want to close, they do!  We'll be up early again tomorrow and I want to make a trip to the Mennonite store and then in town to do a couple errands.  I hope Frankie is on time tomorrow and has time to drop off Cooper.  He's my doggie sitter.  Mickie doesn't get so upset at being left home when he's here.  She really still misses Annie and she doesn't like to be alone.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Took the patch off my eye so I can put glasses on & feel "more right". I think a couple more nights of the patch & drops thru tomorrow should end this stage.

Son & his gr-son came over yesterday & they got the trug put together, dirt in & my tomato plants in the dirt. I'll get a photo today to show y'all. These tomatoes will be worth gold if they ever make it to the table. Already planning a "roof over" that can be installed when hail is predicted. I plan to get leaf lettuce & endive seed today when we get out, along with some clamps to hold the liner in place since the wind flaps the part that hangs over & will beat the poor veggies to pieces. Life in KS is not easy but could be worse!

Lloyd, I'm sure that is not pleasant but it shouldn't be so painful (from what I've heard from my brother that had to wear one for a long time, daughter that had to wear one even when she was working every day, she wore dresses to the floor to hide it & was under 40, but her problem did heal and that ended for her after a month or so. My neighbor also had to wear one for months after her Crohn's surgery and also healed & doesn't need anymore. Hope you/they figure why it is painful for you & fix it. Life really can be good & I'm older than you!

Jane, prayers that Frankie's issue is not as bad as first "kick in the stomach" thoughts. She sounds like such a fun person for you to hang out with. We never quit worrying about "our babies" even when they are our babies' babies, right?

My gr-grandson that got the concussion the other night was here "helping" all day yesterday & seems like his usual self. Not out of the woods yet but I am relieved to see he is "normal"... and just like his gr-father (Andy) at that age. He talks so fast he runs his words together & as hard headed as Andy (except back when Andy was little we did discipline more, Andy kept thinking of something new we hadn't told him NOT to do). Neither see/saw any danger in anything & both always with a smile & moving. Both interested in power tools & electronics, Andy delights in showing his gr-son how to do something once & he remembers.

Jenny, extra prayers all goes well with your surgery and do pray "they" can find a way to make Michele's life better. I can't imagine the agony all of you suffer watching her in such pain.

Do need to get moving, this screen seems awful bright & I don't know how to dim it down. Don't need to mess the whole computer up when it is a "flip-flip" to one of the kids & it's done. Glad the eyes are seeing so much better without that yellow cloud.

Happy spring morning to all, the wind is howling, trees bending & waving. The redbuds & all those flowering trees are in their glory. My green pool grass carpet looks like it snowed with all the blossoms from the Cleveland pair tree in the back yard. They stick to that carpet when they land, & so does everything else, but still the best concrete cover I've seen. Few years ago one of the neighbors had a pebble type coating put over the concrete around their pool & after a few years it looked so awful they had to have it completely removed. One neighbor tried stone tiles & the grout was a mess... so after 3 other types of carpet we went back with the grass type that was here when we bought. BUT it is getting time to have it replaced & installers are hard to find that will take time to do it right. Hummmmmm, sorry, my gripes never end about the pool care!

Good morning from a COLD Interior. I've gotten everything done, but one and groceries will have to wait.

"A historic cold blast settling into Alaska this week will send temperatures plummeting far below zero, which could topple century-old low-temperature records in one city and even a longstanding state record.

The severe cold comes at a time when Alaska normally starts to thaw out from brutal winter weather."

"April is typically the time of year when Alaska is steadily climbing out of the Arctic's icy grip, with average high temperatures rising 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit from the beginning of the month to the end in places such as Utqiaġvik (formally Barrow), Fairbanks and Anchorage," AccuWeather Meteorologist Renee Duff said.

High temperatures in Anchorage, Alaska, usually start April in the upper 30s, before reaching the lower 50s by the end of the month. Fairbanks rivals this spring warmup average by rising from the mid-30s in early April and ending up near the mid-50s by the last day of the month.

"But that has been far from the truth so far this month, with temperatures running 17 degrees below normal month-to-date in Fairbanks," Duff said.

It's been a topsy-turvy start to April in Fairbanks. The city began the month with a high of 11, and low temperatures that didn't reach above zero degrees. Around Easter, the city's temperatures nearly recovered, just a couple degrees below the average high, but this was short-lived as temperatures tanked again to fall below -20, despite average lows being around 15 degrees.

This Arctic air has no intention of leaving Alaska quickly, as conditions are anticipated to be even colder as this week concludes. While Fairbanks usually sits at a high of 40 in early April, forecasters are predicting that temperatures in the city won't rise above 7 degrees on Friday, a whopping 33 degrees below normal.

"The next three days will bring historic-level cold for this time of year to parts of mainland Alaska. The state record low for April of -50F (-45.6C) might be broken," Rick Thoman, a climate specialist at the University of Alaska Fairbanks said on Twitter.

"A cold snap this extreme in April hasn't been experienced in the Fairbanks area since 1911, when three consecutive record lows were set from April 9-11," Duff said. Two of these record lows are likely to be challenged during the latest cold wave, including Thursday night's record of minus 16 F and Friday night's record of minus 32 F.

AccuWeather is forecasting Fairbanks to surpass Thursday night's record by 3 degrees with a low temperature of -19 F."

both eyes operated on,  with the least amount of
difficulty ...

I   just remember when I had mine,
how bright everything was  and how good
I could see out f my one good eye...
I feel blessed ... even though my field
of vision is extremely small (narrow) about
25 % of normal)

I know that we all get used
to living where we were brought
up  and can't imagine living
permanently anywhere else...

I am a coastlal person,  born and
bred so living inland would never
seem like home to me.

Even when I lived in Port Townsend,
Washington,  I was within eye sight of
the water..

I still am if I go up to our top Floor.

Funny how we are all so different.

Have a good week,  everyone.

Sandy

Hello All!  I managed to stick to the schedule I had planned for today and I got everything done!  I got a hair cut (a real one at the beauty parlor), did some errands in town including a short visit with a gal who has been my daughter Christy's best friend since they met in kindergarten.  Did my trip to Davy's (the Mennonite market) and came home and dealt with all the groceries I bought, ate lunch, took care of the doggies and collapsed for 2 hours on the couch.  It really takes the starch right out of me to do those errands that used to be second nature.

SHIRLEY, it sounds like you did better the second time around with your eyes that you did the first time.  I'm glad for that!

PATRICIA, I'm learning more about Alaska in this forum than I ever did in history class in school.  Maybe it's because I have a friend there and I'm more interested in learning this time around!

SANDY, you're right about that!  Where we live is definitely a part of who we are.  I'm a country girl who expects to see rivers and mountains and farmland wherever I go in my neighborhood.  I've been to visit lots of beautiful places....ocean views, much highter mountains, flat lands, farm lands as far as the eye can see, marshes and bogs, and lots of other views, all beautiful and some breathtaking but I'm always happy to come HOME!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!

Saying goodnight to ALL💐

My echo cardiogram turned out great.....so all is well and my surgery is scheduled for 1:15 PM.  I hoped it would be in the morning, but thankful it is not any later than it is. We have to arrive at 11 AM.  Once they get me ready Bob can come back to see me then he has to leave the hospital.  They will keep in touch with him by texting.  He can come back after they have moved me to my room.

Once again,
Michele is not doing well.....her pre op blood work results came back yesterday and was not good, so they have her in ICU and are monitoring her to see what can be done.  Again, that poor girl and Dave can not catch a break!  Thank you for good thoughts and prayers🥰

Thank you all again for your support.  I just want to get it done and start the healing process.

Take care and stay safe.

Jenny

I'm really late getting to bed tonight... did some running around this morning & the rest of the day a blur. Cats are all outside, they are fed up with not running the house this week & ready to pack their bags & move out. I even took their food bowls outside to get them to finish eating. They are interested in all the birds & probably rabbits but so far not a lot of rabbits like other years. In fact, not many rabbits or other critters running around like other years, wonder if it is because so many people are having their yards sprayed this year. Not me, but do think all that spray takes a toll on wildlife & birds.

Sandy, I think you are right about people usually being more comfortable in the type area they grew up in. I've been to all the coasts and when I look out over that water I catch my breath and feel so lonely & sad I actually shudder. I'm sure it is a left over reaction of when I left the US from New York City to live in England for 3 years, knowing that I couldn't return (back in mid '50s there was no flying back & forth like today) no matter what happened and that it was a chance that someone in my family could die and I'd never get to see them again. I didn't talk to anyone on the phone the entire time so when my brother & his wife insisted on meeting us in NY when we returned, I was sure they were coming to tell me/us that someone was missing. It was a standing rule when my brothers were in the service NO bad news was told but they should call before coming home to hear it then. So that ocean that took me away from my family for 3 years will always make me sad, even though there was NO bad news when we hit the US. I do love the mountains but don't expect to visit them again. Some things we have to bow to.

I do think you have a great attitude about the limited sight, for sure I have been a real ninny about all this. My sister-in-law was saying tonight how fearful she is of getting the Covid shot because she's had serious reactions with shots before, passing out, etc.... but she wants to attend a huge reception for her gr-daughter this summer and only way she can go is if she gets the shot. Big decision for her.

Oops, you snuck in, Jenny. Good news for you and so sorry about Michele, so unfair for her to suffer so much. Prayers for all, including you, that you each find a way to be strong.

Near midnight so must get to bed. God Bless All, sweet dreams. Love ya, Shirley

Good morning..

I managed to get that dreaded freezer cleaned yesterday after I made pies and shells to in the nice clean freezer!!

Today will be shopping for us and our friend, then home to unload back into town to pick up cardboard when the store opens. Then play in he dirt, if any steam left. If not.........always tomorrow.

Patricia, that cold weather is sticking to you like gum in your hair. Hope you soon warm up there.

Jenny, prayers for both you and Michele. She is one amazing lady to come through this and for so long. Think it is time she was on the winning side of this.

Sandy, I was raised city with water not that far away, then moved to the country, we have water all around us here.I don't want to go back to city life..to much to experience here. You never know what you will see from one day to the next.

Better get ready to go.store opens at 7 for us ol folks. :)

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Oh JUNEE, don't give up!  I got a happy feeling just seeing your name as a poster.  We miss our old friends.  As AMY said, maybe there's someone who can help you.

As you can see, we're up and attem this morning.  Frankie was going to come spend the night last night but she got started helping her friend pack for moving and she never made it.  Cooper is still here.  He spent the night but he's waiting for her to show up.

I had to make dog food this morning before I could feed Mickie so we're just waiting for the boinger right now and I'm pretty sure it's going off soon.  OH! There it goes.  We're off to have breakfast!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Prayers continue for all who need them...especially JENNY and MICHELE and their families.

Funny thing...Frankie's friend who is moving and Frankie are both nieces of my daughter Cindy but they're not cousins!  One is by Cindy and one is by her husband Jim.  Interesting that they've become good friends!

I see the spammers are out for another big payday with people receiving the stimulus payments. My spam folders have filled considerably with everything from gift card offers, porn, notices of emergency arrears, taxes due,  and sudden inheritances.

I wonder how many people will they fleece?

Amy, I left you and Kyle a gift in the What's for dinner folder.

Jane, I'm curious about what type of dog Cooper is? I'm just nosy as I see him as similar to Amy's pup.

I'm thinking of everyone having illnesses, accidents, and medical procedures. We seem to be having several right now, and I'm hoping for a good outcome for all!

AMY, if David was in WilliamsBURG, VA he was about 10 hours drive from here.  If he was in WilliamsPORT, PA he was right up the street!

PATRICIA, Cooper is part Bichon and part Shih tzu and he's young and full of energy!  He keeps Mickie and me on the move!  I have a picture of me holding him.  If I can find it, I'll post it.  He's a real cutie.

I have the fixings for a breakfast casserole ready to put together tonight so I can bake it in the morning.  I cut it in half and I'm pretty sure I'll still have 3 or 4 breakfasts out of it.

Hope everyone is having a good day.  We were supposed to get drizzles but if we did, I didn't see them.  It's cloudy but not too cool with a high of 59.

Good Afternoon.  Remember me?  :)

No illnesses, accidents or medical procedures - just trying to catch up with various things that were too easy to ignore.

Good wishes and good recovery to each of those having any of these.

Family Easter went well.  I met Miss Emily's boyfriend and really liked him.  Too soon to tell how this will develop but they're having fun and he seemed very comfortable with everyone.  They all went on to "the other grandmother's" after being here and, from all reports, he had a good time with them, too.

Jane,  #1 son brought a breakfast casserole as well as what he called a French Toast casserole for Easter brunch.
Both were good - and I had leftovers for supper a couple of times this week.

Hoping Jenny's surgery is going/has gone well.

Shirley, so happy to know you're pleased with your cataract surgery.  Amazing how things improve without that yellow film, isn't it?

Patricia,  after several days of "sitting on the patio" weather, prediction is for temperatures almost at the freezing point tonight.  In between, we "might" have severe weather - but the gurus can't seem to figure out how close it will come to my area.

Off to bring my cell phone and Tablet up to Full Charge just in case...

Good morning..

Going to be another fantastic day here then into rain for a few days.

We had a busy day yesterday, met our friends and exchanged items..she surprised me with 2 metres of fabric with dragon flies on it.

We picked up our cardboard. huge pieces that fridges come in and headed home.  The cardboard is now on the ground underneath the two trugs. he cardboard will kill off the grass etc and hopefully stop any growth. Today is pick up dirt and peatmoss to fill the trugs.

Jane it was PORT!!! I never know where he will be next.

Patricia, thank you!! Will print the recipe and try it ..
I think there is a song in lazy hazy days of summer :))

Callie, good to see you ...playing catch up is a job ! One thing leads to another and before we know it, time is lost to us. Glad you are ok.

Jenny ,hope your operation went well and you are on the road to recovery.

Lloyd , hope you have a good day your way.

Phyllis  and Joy hope you both are ok.

Better get my duds on and get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning! We've had breakfast and a walk and Cooper just arrived.  We're ready for the day but it's going to be a dreary one!  We have drizzles!

I put together a breakfast casserole last night before I went to bed and baked it this morning.  It was definitely "more-ish"!  I'm keeping that one.  I cut it in half and I'm sure there's still too much but it says it freezes well so I think I'll freeze a couple breakfasts for another time.

AMY, if David was in WilliamsPORT, he probably drove right past my house!  I'm about a quarter of a mile off Route 15 which is a major N/S artery and has lots of truck traffic.  I'd have waved if I'd known.

We need a visit from PHYLLIS, JOY, GLORIA and everyone else!  And I hope JENNY will be reporting in soon!

I wish you all a good day..better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I'm here and fairly OK.  The weather has been warm and stormy around me but nothing over me.  Supposed to turn cooler again over the weekend.  Pollen dust over everything....it is very heavy this year.

I haven't been doing a whole lot.  I'm having a little trouble with walking and can't stay on my feet for too long without stopping to rest.  I'm supposed to see a specialist on the 22nd and lucky to get an appointment.  Every doctor is this area is so busy and some are not accepting new patients at all.

Take care, All.

A good morning from a cold minus nineteen Interior! So far, spring has skipped us this year with the beeps of snowplows and trucks going all night, each night, and some roofs collapsing. Warnings are out for people to not park on the roads overnight and to keep roofs cleared. Today is slated for a high of fifteen, and tomorrow we are told to expect the beginning of plus thirties and forties. I'm sure everyone will have a sigh of relief if that happens.

I envy all with the spring weather, even if it comes with rain. We've been mother nature's guinea pig for far too long! The doctor has said that he believes my continued leg pain is tied to my arthritis and the fluctuating barometric pressure, but even so, it's getting better. I've only been out twice for short periods via Senior Services and cannot stand still too long, but if I keep moving, I don't need my walker.

Jane, I put either green onions or chopped peppers in my breakfast casserole and freeze it with freezer ziplock bags. I've found they work better than freezer containers and save space if flattened before freezing.

I, too, miss Gloria and Joy, and while it was nice to see a post from you, Phyllis, I'm sorry to hear you also have issues but hopefully will have some relief before or after the 22nd.

Amy, we've been on lockdown for a year as of March. The only things open are essentials and few transportation options. We will have two to six new Covid cases a week and then an arbitrary jump to fifty a day. We also have the UK variant and the South Africa variant, as well as the usual strain. While they're now inoculating the under sixteen-year-olds, some fear that it will become a yearly issue.

However, we're told that we're covered for the variants two weeks after our second shot. Of course, we also have the crazies who believe getting vaccinated or wearing a mask is some attack on their American freedoms. Still, without allowed access to those few stores or places open or transportation without masks, they're limited to misspelled letters to the editor.

Busy playing in the dirt, getting the trugs ready is a tiring job!! I am sure all the work will be worth it in the end. Helped the neighbour get their trugs in their garden and folks drove in to inquire about getting a trug.

Jane, I have tried to get David to tell him but he must be out in the garage working on the truck.

Patricia, I would take some of your cold air ,working in the garden is making sweat happen! We also have the UK and other variants here also. Seems the young ones are now catching it and hospitals are jam packed with them.

Phyllis so good to see you and hope your legs will feel better.Just take it easy and don't try to do too much until you see your Dr.

Better go haul soil....fun fun fun...

Patricia, since there are 3 that have "old" soil in them I dug some out and put it in the bottom of the others to help build up the depth. I am calling it quits now for the day, will finish off with the laundry and that is it!!
I still have about 10  50 lbs bags of triple mix to put in but have put in30 so far......now I am tuckered.
It has been an awesome day weather wise and I am sure the bedding has blown dry long ago!!

Amy, I sent my 2 kids that put the trug together to ACE hardware for dirt.... they came back with 7 bags of "Miracle Grow soil for veggies" and I sent them back for a bag of peat moss... it all fit in the trug. I also have a bag of potting soil unopened & bought several varieties of Berpee's lettuce & endive to plant on either side of the tomato plants. Got the Early Girl & Big Boys in smaller containers but found one big plant that had blooms already on & bought it for the "center piece". It didn't even have the name tag in it but bought anyway! I'm going to spread a layer of the potting soil over each side to plant the seeds in & hope we don't have a dozie hail storm to ruin it all. Will be a very expensive garden, for sure. My son was worried the yard guys will beat the legs to pieces with the weed whip so was going to wrap the legs with a layer of tin... but I am going to trim around them myself. I was going to kill the grass/weeds under but it would be muddy so plan 2 sounds better. I read all the links you sent me & the kids just took over & I let them! I'm still not supposed to be bending over or lifting more than 5#, but I forget.  ::)

It was chilly this morning & I'm sleepy this afternoon. My daughter is off to visit with her grands, she went to soccer games this morning & I am just not up to all that activity. My eyes are seeing great except when the drops go in & have a nice blur for a while. Glasses from 4 or 5 years ago are working pretty good for distance but take them off to read anything. Still no solution for the mid-distance, like inside the house. The surgeon said must wait for several weeks before fitting new glasses.

Happy Spring to All!!!!

Shirley, sounds like you are all set! Now stand back after you have planted your seeds/ plants for they sure will grow with that mixture.

What all are you planting?

Please don't bend over, you don't want to undo what has been done and have to do it all over again.

Interesting...

"Milder conditions are on the way for Alaska for the new week, as the jet stream adjusts. After a high of just 20 degrees on Friday in Anchorage, and just 3 degrees in Fairbanks, afternoon high temperatures are forecast to soar back near 40 degrees on Monday, right around normal for mid-April.

But the cold air will have to go somewhere.

In the coming days, the extremely cold air is forecast to shift to the southeast across parts of western Canada and the northwestern United States. Temperatures are expected to fall so far Saturday night and early Sunday morning, that some record low temperatures could be challenged in major cities across the area.

Low temperatures on Sunday morning are forecast to reach 34 degrees in both Portland, Oregon and Seattle, which would challenge daily low record temperatures that were tied 20 years ago.

Cities like Salem and Eugene, Oregon, are forecast to drop below freezing. In addition to challenging records, some frost is likely outside of the city centers.

Temperatures are forecast to rebound quickly, with high temperatures on Sunday afternoon not far from normal. Warmer-than-normal conditions with temperatures in the upper 50s or lower 60s are likely again by Tuesday.

As the week progresses, the colder air will shift into the north-central United States into the middle of the week. Temperatures could end up as much as 25 degrees below normal for the middle of April."

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Mickie and I were up at our usual time, a bit later than usual, she must be adjusting to DST by now.  We went out and she got her pill and when the boinger went off for breakfast, we let Cooper out of Frankie's room and then outside and then we fed both doggies and the old lady.  I had seconds on the breakfast caserole I made yesterday and it was just as good (maybe better) warmed up today.

It's raining here...not a drizzle and not a downpour....just steady rain coming down and wetting everything.  And I can't even complain because it's also making things GROW!

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

May SPRING soon SPRING into Alaska!

HAPPY SUNDAY
TO EVERYFRIEND 💐💐

I survived my surgery‼️‼️  Everything went great and the surgeon was extremely happy with how it all turned out.  The hospital was wonderful and I was pleased in totality with my care.  I had some issues with low potassium and sodium, but they filled me up with bags of both until  I thought I might pop with swelling in my hands....and it brought the numbers up enough to let me go home about 5 PM.  I was feeling great and planned to write a post last night when all of a sudden I hit a brick wall about 7 PM.  I hurt EVERYWHERE really badly.  I took their super doper meds  and managed to get through the night with a little rest!  This morning I have slowly but surely improved and am now comfortable with only taking the Aleve that I feel does me well.  Dr. Dave said if I need more pain coverage I can go back to the oxycodone tonight, but I HOPE I do not have to as I truly do not think it does that well for me.  I am like you, SHIRLEY,  I know how my body reacts and I need to do what I think serves me best!

Michele has remained in the ICU unit here near us at a hospital and her numbers are improving but still not good.  They are going to transport her this afternoon to the hospital where her back surgery is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.  It is still questionable if they are going to be able to get the blood corrected in time, but they are hopeful.  Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers.  She needs them now more than ever🙏🙏

I love all the dirt and trug talk....just wish I were one of you two filling my trug with dirt too‼️‼️‼️ Love it!

I forgot to mention that I did have to come home with oxygen......this is pretty common here with the altitude.  They sent us with a bottle home then a company delivered a concentrator and extra bottles to us when we go to the doctor.

Have a good rest of your day, EVERYFRIEND.

Jenn

Jenny that is good news!! Now take it easy and let your body rest. Prayers always for Michele, can not imagine all that she has come through .

Son called me from emerg and said he has a pulled hamstring, they gave him a shot  plus a script for med to take away the pain.

Today  little was done, due to rain coming we did take the garbage away. Maybe tomorrow I will finish up the garden.

Lloyd, where are you???

RAY JENNY!!  I can almost "hear" the joy in your post that everything went well.  I know what you mean about the pain killers.  I dropped them as soon as I got home from the hospital after I broke my arm.  My daughter tried to give me one and I refused.  After some coaxing, I did take an Alleve and I slept better for it.

My prayers continue for MICHELE!  What a trooper she is!

I got a lot of paper work done, sent out 3 special birthday cards, washed up the kitchen floor...didn't make it to church, one more time.  I just get so worried when it's time to go.  Next week I'm going to force myself.  On line is OK but it's not the same as being there.

Frankie and I were talking today about a lot of stuff and Seniors& Friends came up.  I mentioned AMY and she asked me if I know what any of these people look like.  I showed her the picture of you, AMY, that's hanging on the wall in my office.  She took a good look and then looked at me and said, "She looks like a nice lady!  So there you are!

Now I'm heading for the haystack because my eyes have entered "slamshut" mode and I'm having trouble seeing through the lids!

Wonder where Gloria and Joy are!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Lloyd...
...quoting your "  if god would call me home may be the best way. "

...i am not living your body, you are not living mine, and believe you me, i have felt the same way as you these past two years but, all i can add is a well-known expression my late father often said to me..." dont wish your life away, girl.."
All i can say is, God will take you when he is ready, which means, there is a reason why you are still here, He still has a purpose for you...In the meantime i am sending you a " gentle " ((( hug )))

Oh i have also been part following your court story, i am willing for your sake that all goes in your favour and that issue will be one big load taken away from you...

Good morning.
.
We did get a light rain and sure could use more . Nothing planned for the day other than work about home and bake bread.

On our way into town yesterday we noticed a flock of turkeys and they have young ones already! Not too little, so they much have had them in a cold weather...good job they could keep warm under Mom's feathers.

Jane, thank Frankie for me please.  I am not a fan of paper work but know it must be done. I agree with the pain killers, after my operation the pills stayed in the container and I opted for OTC ones..with little or no side effects.

Lloyd, you are one of the ones we would dearly miss so hang in there and put up with us for a long while. When you get tired lean on Nancy or come in here and lean on us.

Patricia, hope you see some sun and warm weather today. You sure get to wear your winter coats a long time there.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

LLOYD, I don't know what we would ever do without you!  You make us think about things that might never come to mind!  Hang in there!  It has to get better!

AMY, I remember what brought up the discussion of you and Seniors and Friends.  Frankie and I were sharing pictures that we have on our cell phones and I showed her the one of David and me that we took when he stopped here.

JACKIE, I glad to see your "hanging in there" and that you are making the best of it.  Give us a word now and then so we know you are still around.

I'm making headway on my chores for today.  I have EMMA's birthday gift ready for the post office.  She won't get it on her birthday (tomorrow) but she knows it's coming.

I have the last of the bed clothes in the washer and the pad and bottom sheet back on the bed.  The top sheet and comforter are in the dryer and the blanket/bed spread is in the washer.  I've finished a few odd jobs and my plan is to go to the post office right after lunch when the doggies are all taken care of and the bed is back to normal.  Then I have a couple of other stops in town and back home to collapse.  I don't do the "running around" as easily as I did a while back.

Where is JOY,  GLORIA and PHYLLIS?

AMY, we had rain almost all day yesterday.  The grass is shooting out of the ground but the weeds are winning the race.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Jane, I have that photo beside me..plus the one of you in the kitchen :) I am so envious of David as he got to meet you!!!

Have bread raising in the oven to be baked in about 40 min. Friend gave me a recipe for pickled red onion and may try that later..just cut the onion up, mix up the solution ,pour in on and put the jar in the  fridge. Doesn't get any easier that that!

Good afternoon.....

I am doing wonderful......quite comfortable pain wise with only one Aleve a day.  Walking some and I have done my minimal exercise they will allow at this point.

No news from Dave yet today regarding how Michele is doing.  I am hoping no news is good news🙏🙏

A storm is headed our way.  Do hope it is more than snow as Dave has a good distance to drive to be with Michele.  Both of their boys are back at home doing online teaching again due to Covid numbers😩.

JACKIE, thank you for your words to LLOYD.  Sometimes I know that many feel they have had about all they can take and ask the good Lord to take them home....but HE knows what is best for us and we must trust in him to know when it is our time🙏 LLOYD is indeed valuable to us and to his family!  So here up LLOYD ‼️

I just realized that I do not think I have ever seen a picture of you AMY.  Sure would be nice if you could tell me where to look in here OR send one in email....PLEASE.  Those lucky new trug owners.....they got their trug AND a loaf of fresh made bread‼️‼️

YEA PATRICIA.......you are having a heatwave.....40 degrees!

No word from Dave yet today.  I am hoping we will hear soon that she is doing well enough to have the surgery🙏🙏🙏  I am worried about my son as he has so much on his plate with Michele, the children and then of course ME oh and his JOB!  I assured him this morning that I am doing great and not to burden himself worrying about me as we are good.

I hope everyone reading this is doing well.

Jenny, glad you are doing so well and on going prayers for Michele & all the family. I feel so sad thinking of all they are going through.

I did get the lettuce seeds planted yesterday & think my trug is probably as full as can be. Lucky the people that have more than one!  Good to see all that showed up today & hope even more post tomorrow (please, y'all).... Love, Shirley

WOW! Lots of posts today!  I like that!  I'm here to say "Good Night, Everyfriend".  My eyes have entered "slamshut" mode again so I'm giving in and heading for the haystack.  I hear it's nice and clean and loaded with zzzzzs.  I'll let you know about that tomorrow.

Frankie went home and showered and than went to her friend's new place to help her open the boxes they packed together at her old place.  Then she came here to spend the night.  We've done a lot of talking, some of it about all of you on S&F.  She thinks you're all pretty neat!  It pleases me that she likes to spend time with her old Grammy and I hope that doesn't stop!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow...even PATRICIA is experiencing SPRING!  Nice to see JACKIE posting here again!  Where's JOY, GLORIA, PHYLLIS?

I'm here but don't have a lot to say.  Shirley, the pollen count is so high this year.  Everyone is miserable with the sneezing, coughing, watering eyes, etc.  Hope we all will get some relief soon.

I'd like to hear from Lloyd and hope that he can get a better night's sleep.  Everything looks so bad when you can't sleep.

I'm sorry we don't hear from Gloria and Joy but I understand when they just don't feel up to it.

Take care, All.

Hey, Phyllis, since you grew up Kansas, you remember the wind (probably) most of all... and it is doing a fantastic job swirling the pollen around this year. I don't stay inside because the cats will bring it in anyway.

Jane, Cooper is a darling pup & every pic I see of a dog makes me want one more. I do love these cats BUT they don't intend to ever obey or even come when it's MY idea to feed them. My daughter
gets a kick out of them staring me down when I "ask" them in or tell them to do something. She was used to out German Shepherd saying, "yes, maam, right there".  ;)

Lisa, I'm not a game player BUT WELCOME to the group. It took me a while to get used to this group telling all, but it's my morning coffee with friends like the old days when raising kids. Hope you learn to love us.

Okay, must get ready to head to the eye doc for routine check up. Sunny but chilling this morning. Howdy spring!

I will make the onions but you may have the radishes. You have David now eating them the same way you do and he loves them.

I knew something was wrong when I had to keep putting Peepers back on her perch yesterday and this morning she no longer needs a perch. She was 29 yrs old and for a cockatiel I think that is remarkable.. Going to be really quiet in here now.

Shirley, I am still trying to get photos of Tom T turkey that are good ones. , my tablet is doing a slow death and may resort to getting a new one.Can send you the ones I have of him.one on top of the hood of a Pepsi truck!

We're in the thirties, presently heading toward a mid-forties high. Weather reports say we won't get into the sixties until May.

They are starting to dredge the snow into various piles in public areas reserved for that, so there are more brown spots. They work at night, but you get used to the backup vehicle horns. We won't see any greenery if all goes back to normal until Memorial day or just before.

My leg is feeling so much better after the fluctuating barometric pressure has stabilized. It's become obvious that my osteoarthritis definitely was affecting my injury. However, I have no plans to do more than baby myself until the end of the month.

I feel bad because my sprain's minor compared to many here and their families and I'm not used to not being able to do as I wish. It has taught me to pay more attention as I've had many falls this winter due to simply not expecting difficulties and being prepared and that's on me.

On a better note, Alan and Dora are feeling healthier and plan on staying home, isolating, and taking it easy through the next month. Covid, even their minor cases, is not easy in your eighties they say.

Patricia, happy to read your friends are feeling better.

Leg injuries are no fun as mine just doesn't want to heal but it can stay in bed or come with me in the morning so off we go. :)

Friend just called and she has the 2.5 inches of fabric I need to finish off a binding I know I have some of the same here but it is playing hide and go seek on me and doing a fantastic job!!

My brain is already taking a nap but saying a quick (but fervent) prayer for Michele & thoughts of each of you, my loving/caring friends.

Eye appointment went well, totally NOT what I expected. This doctor writes the 'script for glasses but independent of any optical department, so I will take my 'script to any vendor that will make the glasses with lens I approve of (meaning good quality lens like on a camera). I know my eyes like glass glasses best but don't think ANY of the optical places sell glass ones anymore. The glasses made last near never did work out, they remade them one time & was worse than original. I wore them for a week+ but my eyes didn't adjust to them, a waste of money but I didn't return them again. This time I want to be sure we understand what we are getting~~

Patricia, you do an amazing job of taking care of yourself and knowing what works best for you. Do hope you feel up to the walks you used to take, gosh, how long ago was that when you visited the "parks" that weren't really parks, places to show us the wildlife & mountains in the distance. I will be whining on my death bed that "BUT I DIDN'T GET TO ALASKA YET!"

My Covid case was as hard as any I've heard about that didn't need a respirator, but even in mid-80s I was afraid to go for help in case they put meds in that this body didn't like. When fever broke (& I didn't even realize I had fever), my clothes were dripping wet & the 4"memory foam topper on my bed was completely soaked so full I rolled it up & dragged it into the entry hall where the floor is slate & not carpet. Quite an experience that I wouldn't want to go thru again!

Amy, sincere sympathy for Peepers death... the cockatiel the kids got me shortly after we moved to this house only lived about 5-6 years. I didn't know any could live 29 years. Mine was named HoneyBird..... for sure your house will be quiet, at least HoneyBird was pretty vocal!

Jane, my eyes are at that "slamshut" stage so will get horizontal & close them! Tiger came up from the basement & will keep me company on the bed. Daughter is out for a couple miles walk & errands so all's well in Wichita.

Update text from Dr. Dave at 11:19 MDT

I just got the call from Michele's surgeon. Everything went fantastic. They were very pleased. Plastic surgery is just scrubbing in now to start the closure. Not sure how long that will take. It will still be several hours before I'm able to see her. Very relieved and feel blessed that we have such a great team. I'll keep you informed as I know anything new.

Lloyd, I was at the lake years ago when someone caught a spoonbill catfish & it was taller (they had it on a rope hanging) than anyone around, never heard how many pounds but it looked as big as any man in the crowd. Looked like a pre-historic monster to me.

Oh, Jenny, so glad to hear something going right for Michele. She stays in my prayers & heart, I've never known anyone to have so many years of suffering.

Have 2 cats looking in the door to see if "we" are going down to the river to feed fish. I had just fallen asleep when my daughter got back, she is off again for her oldest gr-son's ball game. All my great grands have soccer, baseball or something to go to ALL the time. My youngest grand has a "white coat" ceremony for her Audiology graduation next week. I thought this didn't happen until May but what do I know???? Off to the river, can make someone happy (fish)...

Sandy - Shirley...
...Talking of lengthy, Michele's story brings back memories to me of our dear Karren's story, her years of suffering...Oh how we daily followed her ups and her downs, her highs and her lows of her cancer, which if you remember seemed to go on and on for several years...I so remember her postings of several years ago on our forum...Sad to say, her outcome did not have a happy ending...Karren was such a lovely person, loved by all in Soda Shoppe....If i remember correctly her hubbies name was Monty...

Lloyd, I had to look that catfish up.......my goodness that is a big fish!! Unusual looking fish too!! Can you can them?  My neighbour would can suckers and if she made you a sandwich from it ,you would think it was salmon. Canning them would make the bones go soft so you didn't have to worry about them.

It's time to head for the haystack again!  Where do these days go?

JENNY, I'm so glad to hear the good news from Michele!  She sure is a fighter and God must have something special planned for her here on earth.  I think part of it is to show others that life if worth whatever it takes!

I had a lazy day today.  Yesterday, when I tried to replace the filter in the fridge for the ice and water through the door, I thought I had it in and I turned out the warning light and there was no water!  Frankie tried when she came home from work and still no luck.  Icrawled around on the floor with most of the stuff out of the cupboard under the sink looking for a place to turn of the water to the fridge, not finding it and then ending up cleaning the entire area under both sinks and next to the one.  I don't do crawling on the floor and sticking my head and shoulders into the cupboards and getting up and down off the floor and lifting stuff while I'm on my knees very easily any more and I got up this morning with lots of sore spots.  I decided it was a good day to take some time off.  So I did!  And my son came by and fixed the filter.  It took him about 10 seconds1  Makes me feel old and dumb!

LLOYD, keep on keeping on!  We all need to hang in there!  As you can see, I don't give up easily and I bet you won't either!

AMY, got the recipes...radishes AND onions!  They both sound good for additions to salads and also sandwich toppers!  I added both to my Davy's list

COOPER says, "Thanks for the compliments".  Today was his birthday so it was a good time to get them.

Also, after Frankie and I talked about all of you and then she went to bed, she got back up and came out and said that I'm going to have to show her how to get on to S&F because....and she seemed to be at a loss for words.  So I said, "In case something happens to me you can let them know?"  She grinned and said "Yes, but I hope not very soon!"  I thought that was pretty perceptive of her.

Now my eyes have entered the "slamshut" stage so I better give in and take them off to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow! And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

Foggy this morning but we are to see some sun later on. Taking my snow tires off this morning and then home to work about. Will put some eye of round on to cook and then chop up for the dogs. Might bake bread too.

Jane, you are right!! I am enjoying the air fryer and want to try seasoned chickpeas next. All these new toys are fun to use! Plus the fryer fits in front of Hank....bonus! Glad you son fixed your problem in jig time. Let Frankie know that my son and your daughter are on FB.

Lloyd, loved talking with you and Nancy the other day. Just take it easy for a while...and try and behave. I am going to pick up the Styrofoam to use on the trug covers for next year.

Jenny, hope today is the start of a new life for Michele, pain free and on the road to recovery.

Patricia, sure hope you get to enjoy nice weather today, even if it is just looking out .

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I don't remember what song it is or any of the rest of the words but all I could think of this morning was "You lift me up" when I came to the Soda Shoppe this morning.  Seeing posts from friends who haven't been here for awhile and hearing mostly good news about families "lifted me up".

So happy that Michelle's surgery went so well, Jenny.  I know her recovery will go well, too.  And I'm also sending good thoughts that your shoulder is getting better.

Amy, I'm sorry about Peepers.  Doesn't matter what kind of body they wear they are still our little friends and we miss them when they leave us.

Jane, if it was me down on the floor crawling around I would still be there.  I'm amazed that you got back up.  Hope the sore spots are getting better.  I talked to an appliance guy and he told me that if we lived in an area where the local water supply was trust worthy we didn't need to use the fridge filter.  Our town's water always gets a top safety rating so I quit replacing fridge filters years ago.

Lloyd, sitting on the couch is OK but if the weather is good sitting out on the porch will make you feel even better.  I hope today is a better day for you.

Oh, yes, Shirley, when I think of Kansas I always think of the wind.  It's been breezy here in NC the last few days with LOTS of pollen.  Hang in there.....the trees and grass should quit their spring growth eventually!

So good to see you here, Jackie.  I remember Karren very well.  She was always so kind and a good PSP buddy.  I think Bubble brought her to SN in the beginning.

And, Gloria, you sound like your old self.  I sleep a lot, too, but if that is what the old body needs then I won't argue.  Besides, it wouldn't do any good.  ;)

Patricia/Angel, progress sounds good for you, too, both in your getting around and in the Alaskan weather. Sounds like things are looking up.

Sandy, every time I see a post from you I have a good memory of Maine.  We spent a couple of summer vacations on the Maine southern coast.  Loved that whole rocky coastline but the water sure was cold...even in July!

Take care, All.

A good Wednesday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 💐

Thank you, AMY.  Nothing finer than a listen to Josh Groban singing YOU RAISE ME UP💞 One of my very favorite pick me up songs.  I love "a start to a new life, pain free for Michele"‼️  Beautifully stated.

JANE, very true words, " Michele!  She sure is a fighter and God must have something special planned for her here on earth.  I think part of it is to show others that life if worth whatever it takes!". I like this🥰🥰

ALL OF THE KIND AND SUPPORTIVE WORDS for Michele are truly SO APPRECIATED!  I love you all for your never ending support and prayers💞💞

BUBBLE, what a treat to see our MARYPAIGE and her family celebrating her special Birthday.  I admit I often think of her and have wondered how she is getting along.

GLORIA, wonderful to see you checking in today.  Boy do we miss you!  Thoughts and prayers for your continued health improvement 🥰 HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes for you a day early!  So pleased you are celebrating another trip around the the world!

PHYLLIS, I assure you I am doing my darnedest to feel stronger everyday....disappointed at how quickly I "poop out" but that is what surgery does to ya.

JACKIE, I often think back to Karren also, and her struggle to survive.  She was a trooper and I am so sad that she lost her ability to fight on💪 She was truly a beautiful lady.  Is Monty still living?  She was a source of strength  to you, as I remember🙏

No word yet on how Michele is doing, but I bet they have her up walking already!

Hang in there SHIRLEY..... try not to over do it too much......you need to be kind to yourself, ya know!

SANDY, you have been through so much also, and YOU are a inspiration to us all!

Have a good day, EVERYFRIEND 😘

Jenn

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm a bit late getting here today but it sure is nice to see all of you gathered in the Soda Shoppe.

I truly enjoyed the pic of MaryPage and her family!  I've missed seeing her on the forum since she's one of the people that I've actually met face-to-face at one of the bashes...I think in Williamsport!

Nice to see GLORIS posting...and JACKIE...and PHYLLIS....and LLOYD...and AMY...and JENNY...and PATRICIA...and Bubble...and, and, and EVERYONE!  I love a crowd!

I have to get back to work.  I'm trying to make up for goofing off yesterday.  Have a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

Well, there was such a nice gathering in here today and then I came in and drove everyone off!  I'm so sorry for that!  What was it I said!  I take it all back!

Now I'm going to go hit the haystack and think about what I can say tomorrow to make up for whatever it was that drove you away today. ;D  :smitten:

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!
