Marilyn...grief counseling is probably a good idea for you.

Darlene...glad you're getting moisture.

Mary...hurrah on the apt working and hope for a one bedroom open soon.

Sue...enjoy your walk.

Sharon....hope therapy is going better.

Jeanne...oh, yes, we have snow...with ice glazed on top of it.  The wind has really picked up, but the ice glaze is stopping blowing snow.  However, the temps are dropping like a rock in a well.  31 at 10 am and now at 12 and headed lower tonight.

My neighbor helped his daughter with the snow removal, so walks are clear and so is driveway, but I'm not going anywhere.  Even walk-in clinic is closed.

Strange day yesterday.  I began to hear an alarm type sound, but couldn't identify the source.  By the time I got to the front of the house, it'd stopped.  It started again later and by the time I went to bed, it'd wake me up every 20 minutes!  It wasn't the smoke alarms, nor the carbon monoxide alarm, nor the security system.  Finally at 2 o'clock am, I turned the switch off for the chair life...and no more alarms.  So...after 2 before I got to sleep.

Our news is full of the winter storm warning....schools out early, events canceled, etc.  and the snow is coming down.  Unfortunately, 4 fire trucks went screaming past my house headed north a bit ago.

Stay safe, Buddies!

Our Sharon posted that yesterday was a bad day for her, and she was hoping today would be better.  She's hoping to maybe be home by Tuesday, but she knows she has a lot of therapy left to get her new knee working as it needs to.

-4 this morning but up to 12 now.  Storm warnings out for tomorrow and Saturday. Niece at Mayo today and tomorrow for appts with neurologist (today) and neurosurgeon (tomorrow morning) and then they'll make a dash for home in N. Wisc.  Same storm hitting MN and WI.  It was -12 there this morning.

I went out to grocery for food to have for the storm.  I also filled car with gas.  The station was busier than the grocery store!

Freezing drizzle here making roads icy and snow coming in.  Sounds like another inside day for me. :-\

Jeanne...it is kind of bland, although I used roasted tomatoes with garlic and added more garlic, and it had onion, too, which I forgot to mention.  I think the slow cooker let it simmer easier...the recipe was huge and in a skillet would have made a mess, I think.  I have six servings in the freezer now.  I'm not a "foodie" who enjoys food or cooking it.  I wish I did.

It sounds like another storm coming in this weekend and more rain in the South.

I'm trying out a new recipe this morning, but think it may end up in the garbage...it's a combo of hamburger, onion, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, salt and pepper and chopped cabbage.  Sort of "unrolled" cabbage rolls.
Hmmm...it's in the slow cooker now "mellowing together"...and we'll see.  It may be take out time tonight. :2funny:

Marilyn...any suicide death is such a shock to the system of his loved ones.  Of course, you're not ok. After the death of any loved one, regardless of the nature of the death,  nobody is.  Take the time you need and perhaps see if there's a grief counselor around who could help you.

Jeanne...yes, a head cold, and feeling much better today.  Got out to the grocery store and did my laundry and some light ...very light...housework  :D

Sue and Mary...glad you had no damage from storms. Lots on TV here about them.

Sharon...hope your therapy is going great.

I'm going to be watching football...LSU vs Clemson tonight.  It should be a good game.

Happy New House Warming, Mary!

Snow to come again this afternoon/evening, "they" say.

I've watched an episode of the old NorthernExposure dvd Patricia found for me on my new portable DVD player and figured out how to get Netflix up and working on my tv...watched 2 episodes of the Virgin River series ...and even got it off and my cable back on tv for football at 2:00.  And that's about ALL I've done today.  Sneezing like a fool...and head may explode...so just doing the rest and fluids thing.

Mary and Sue...so glad you're both alert to weather.  Stay safe!

Darlene...enjoy that warm weather.  My sister in Ohio has 62 this morning.  Goofy weather!

A pretty white Saturday morning here...and a lull between storm 1 and 2.  It's going to be a "comfy clothes" day inside for me...reading, watching football, etc.  I have also managed to get a cold...first one in over a year...

Snow started here about 3:45

and continues...the little icy flakes that pile up quickly.  The wind is gusty, too, so a good night to be inside.

It's to taper off tomorrow mornin*, and then start again in the late afternoon.

We are under a winter storm warning until late Sat. Night.  Ice, and snow and wind.  Sounds lovely 🤪

We're eating locally tonight, given the storm warnings.

Darlene...I read ebooks on my IPad and do some online puzzles...mostly "hidden object" type stuff.

I did a run to the grocery store...along with lots of other people ...as always when a storm is predicted.

Jeanne...I'm having good results with the metropolol or however it's spelled. My BP at rheumatologist's was 140/66 so I can live with that.  I'm not seeing amazing results  from the tylenol, but I'll try it a few more days.

No bridge today or for the next few weeks. We only have 4 gals still here...others in the south...and one has had 4 small strokes and a concussion when she fell over the holiday.  She was hospitalized here and then transferred to Cedar Rapids, but is home now with home health care and PT and OT.  She sounded pretty good on the phone...no slurring, etc., but it'll be a while, I'm sure, until she's back.

It's way too cold for me...such a "fragile flower"...hahahaha :2funny:  :2funny:  to be out and about.  One guy in the parking lot at WalMart made me laugh when he passed as I was putting groceries in the back of my car and said..."At least we don't have any mosquitoes!"  So right!! :2funny:

I'm catching up on my checkbook bookkeeping and reading and knitting.

Take care, Dear Buddies, and stay healthy and safe,

Chilly 8 degree morning here.

I hope Sharon can post soon.

Darlene....so sorry to hear of niece's passing.  She had a long struggle.

Mary...happy moving.

Hi to Marilyn, Jeanne, Shirley

Had rheumatology appt yesterday...she suggests 1000 mg of tylenol morning and night.  I'll see how that goes.  Last night's and this morning's haven't helped any.  Maybe it need to build up??

Off for bridge in 15 minutes.

Stay healthy, Gals.  Lots of colds and flu around here.  :-[

Temperature has been dropping here this afternoon, too.  Gloomy now and I'm glad I'm inside.  I haven't been out today, except to fill one birdfeeder and get the snow off another one.

I did dig out my knitting bag and I've started a baby cap.  I like these because they're quick and easy to do and I can do different stitches for variety.  Big, bulky projects are beyond my attention focus these days.

January 04, 2020, 11:00:10 am

Good first Saturday of 2020.  It's 27 here and we had snow yesterday, so it's still with us.  I need to get out and fill my bird feeder.  Little feathered ones will need some nourishment, I'm sure.

Easy aka Lazy day here.  Laundry and reading and watching sports on TV.

Last night Kathy and I had planned to try a new pub here in town, but as I looked for a parking space, I say the big "fun bus" parked in front, so we decided two old ladies would go elsewhere.  🤪

We went to another place and then back to her house for a bit of Bailey's Irish Cream.  It tasted good on a cold, snowy night.

My wonderful gas stove is going and I love looking at the fire without having to carry in and cleanup wood ashes and lug wood in.

Marilyn...yikes on driving after dark in a city you don't know well.  I know I can't do that and I've had the GPS also give wrong directions.  I didn't realize you were taking Keith with you. I thought he was staying home with a friend you'd hired to stay with him.  It sounds as if you could use some "personal time" away from the house and K.

Mary...it sounds as if you Southern gals are getting drenched.  When will your new place be ready?  I took my knitting with me to Ohio, but left it in the car.  Maybe when the weather pressures--and my arthritis-- settle down, I can get back to it.

Jeanne...hope you're getting over that cold.  I know you'll watch to make sure it doesn't get worse.

Sue...enjoy your reading.  It's the only thing that I can concentrate on lately.

Sharon...hope dr. visit went ok and you're set for the surgery.

Darlene...you are so right about the holidays being hard now.

Alpiner...greetings to you.

I did get out and got a few groceries, picked up my prescription allergy spray and got my EE bonds redeemed for Dec.
Also got the big suitcase emptied and will do laundry on the weekend. Now to catch up with my checking account bookkeeping in Quicken and I'll be in good shape for 2020!

Snow expected this afternoon, so winter is back.

I have some local errands to do this morning, and I think Kathy and I will go out for supper.  Tonight is Gary's "Jesters" meeting and the other couple in our group seems to want to skip when he's gone.  That's fine with me.

Guess I'd better get bundled up and out the door.

I'm home.  The traffic wasn't bad.  I imagine Sunday will be another story.

I got the car unloaded, but not my big suitcase...job for tomorrow  ;D
