Jenny - Good for Mark choosing a house so quickly! I have a difficult time making decisions and picking out a house is a MAJOR decision! I can't even decide which color to paint a room!

Mary Ann - I almost always take half of my meal home with me, both lunch and dinner. I can't eat much at a time but like to eat often. I think they call people like me "grazers".  :)

Everyone in our neighborhood places small flags along the curbs in front of our houses. Some have the large flags on poles or the house.

Larry - I'm having a problem with Facetime on my phone. For some reason the volume is really low. We tried to raise it without success. Chape is working on it. I hope you felt better after resting most of the day.

Jenny - Such good news about your Dad! I'm sure he was very happy to be home.

Larry - I got tired just reading about the day you had yesterday.  :)

We had another drizzly day with temps in the 80s.

Wasn't sure I was on the right site!  :)  First thing I saw was a chat with people I don't know. I think it's great that you all enjoy the webcams. I spend too much time on the computer already so I am staying away from them.  :)

I haven't been in here for a few days. My intentions are good but.......

I had a long talk on the phone today with one of my best friends in Vermont. This friend is also Chape's cousin. Today was her 84th birthday. We always used to celebrate our birthdays together by going out to dinner (husbands, too) as mine is June 8 and hers the 12th.

I've been spending time on the Senecal descendants page that I started on Facebook a couple of years ago. We now have over 125 members. I've reconnected with so many cousins and their children. It's for descendants of my grandparents (my mother's parents). They had 16 children, 15 lived to be adults, and 50 grandchildren. As of 1974 there were 136 great-grandchildren.

I got a call from the dermatologist's office and next week I will be having Mohs surgery on both places where they did the biopsies. Not looking forward to it!

Larry - I will give you a call soon. I haven't tried using Facetime yet. I hope your outing went well and that it didn't rain. I need to get out, too. No good excuse but I haven't left the house since last Friday.

Good night all.

Thank you Marilyne, Mary Ann, Amy Jenny and Jackie for the birthday wishes.

We had a day of rain, thunderstorms and cooler weather. I took a long nap this afternoon and never heard one of the storms. Chape said it made the house shake!

I had a surprise birthday phone call from a longtime Vermont friend. She's one of my favorite people and we've stayed in touch since high school.

Mary Ann - My thoughts exactly! I didn't want to buy another dress to leave hanging in the closet. The last one hung there for 10 years.  :) This was a small family wedding at a resort hotel in New Hampshire.

Marilyne - Shame on them! Three years?  I guess that 10 years was over the "statute of limitations" for wearing the same dress.

TooJays is a Florida chain deli and restaurant. Their soups are "made from scratch".

Jenny - Two of my daughters also like liverwurst, but you're right. I think we're in the minority!

Larry - I think I'm going to like this IPhone. I've been texting with my daughter tonight, which is something I said I'd never do.  ::)  A Facetime conversation would be nice.

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days........So many things I'd like to comment on.

One is shorts. Yes, women wear shorts most of the time in Florida. Our winters can be cold so then I wear long pants or capri pants. For church I wear dress pants and a nice top. Men wear shorts all year round (Chape wears the cargo shorts), but for church, etc. he wears long pants. I haven't worn a dress or skirt for years, except for my granddaughter's wedding. And then I wore the same dress I wore for another granddaughter's wedding 10 years earlier!  :) It hadn't gone out of style, was the right color and had my daughter's approval!

I am and always have been a milk drinker. JEAN, I switched to Lactaid many years ago when I realized lactose was a problem for me.

Larry - I'm enjoying your posts. You have such a good outlook and attitude about everything. I told Chape we could all learn a lesson from you.
Yesterday I went out to lunch with a good friend. We went to TooJays. I had something I like but seldom get, a liverwurst sandwich. Also a bowl of tomato dill soup....very good.

Chape has switched to an IPhone and also got me one, so they're compatible. It will take awhile for me to get used to it. If it were my choice I'd still have my little flip-phone. I know I'll like "Facetime" on this one because it gives me a chance to talk face to face with my great-grands. The youngest is three.

I spent a lot of time on the phone today with calls from family. Today was my birthday.......81 years old! I know I have a ways to catch up to some of you.  ;)

Time for bed.

I am so sorry to hear of Gloria's passing. As Larry said, things she said recently gave clues that she knew the time was near. She was always so upbeat in spite of the tragedies in her life.

Johann - Thank you for letting us know. Enjoy the time with your son!

Today was our hottest day yet. Temps reached 100. It's only 83 at the moment.

Chape bought some sweet corn today. First we've had this year and it was good.

Jenny - I'm so sorry about your Dad and all the problems. You've had more than your share of stress lately! It might be a good idea to have your arm checked by a doctor.

Today was our 62nd wedding anniversary. Sometimes I wonder what happened to all those years! We went out to dinner at The Olive Garden. Then spent most of the evening on the phone with our children.

Good night all.

Stopping in to say Good Night.

Mary Ann - I lost a set of car keys a few years ago, (the computerized kind), and it cost $150 to replace them! I've also been known to leave my house keys in the door.  ::)

MarsGal - Beautiful wedding! Congratulations to the bride and groom.

Thinking of Jenny tonight.

Good evening. Some very interesting posts today. I enjoy reading about your everday lives.

I had an appointment with the dermatologist today. They did biopsies on two small skin cancers. Not my favorite way to spend the day!  :)

It was another hot day but I don't mind. We get used to living with air-conditioning in summer. When I lived up north we had the heat on 6 to 7 months a year. Sometimes weeks went by with no sunshine!

Our house is built for retirement.....Open living room, dining area and kitchen in the center, and three bedrooms, master bed and bath on one end and two bedrooms and bath on the other. We use one bedroom for a computer room. There is just a small step down at the entrance and to the lanai so there are no stairs to deal with. I would hate to have to move again. We've been here for 17 years. Before that we moved many times around the country because of Chape's job.

Larry - You ARE lucky to have Scott living close enough to help get a comfortable room set up. It was a good move when you and Pat decided to move closer to him.

Marilyne - I eat a couple of tablespoons of sauerkraut. Some people eat up to a half cup. I don't like it that much! ;)

Mary Ann - Good luck with your credit union mix-up. If you have been with them awhile maybe they'll drop the late charge?

Today was a quiet one. We did some errands this afternoon and ate leftovers from yesterday for dinner. Tomorrow and Thursday I have doctor appointments.

Mary Ann - Glad you had a good report from your cardiologist. I do eat sauerkraut but not because I like it. I eat some raw sauerkraut every day....the kind that's in a jar in the refrigerated area.......not the packaged kind.  It's a good probiotic and helps with digestive problems.

Larry - I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend. I find driving against the sun nearly impossible. I'm quite short so the visor isn't much help. I really should have a cushion to sit on.

Patricia - Thanks for the link telling how Memorial Day celebrations started.

Jackie - It's a good idea to take your time and explore all options before you decide where to live.

Joan - You must be so happy that Candy is doing better since the surgery.

Memorial Day started off beautiful, though hot, (98)  but late this afternoon it clouded over and we had a thunder shower with a downpour for about an hour. We can use the rain.

Hope you all had a good day. I'm with those who have a hard time saying "Happy Memorial Day". One of my brother's best friends in high school lost his life in Vietnam. He left his wife (high school sweetheart) and three children. I still keep in touch with her. She never re-married.

Jenny - I'm glad Michelle had a good day with the family. Congratulations to your grandson who is on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout!

Mary Ann - Your lunch sounds good, except for the sauerkraut and kielbasa. We had hot dogs in a bun, baked beans and mac and tuna salad. My favorite picnic type lunch! All that was missing was toasted marshmallows. Chape loved it. He said "Wow! We haven't had this in years!" Most of the time we have meat and vegetables.

Jean - My eyes are light sensitive too. I can't step outside without sunglasses. You might like blue-light glasses. My son got me some for Christmas. They work well but I wish these fit over my regular glasses. They're rather expensive but I may order a pair made to wear over glasses. You can wear them inside for TV or the computer.

Larry - Chape has become more emotional in recent years.  I have always been emotional in both happy and sad situations. Do you remember when Maxwell House had their touching Christmas commercials? Every time one came on I broke into tears!

Lindancer - I like the phrase "mud-pie friends".

Bedtime........Good night all.

Shirley - I should have mentioned that Ray passed away this morning (May 25). His grandson posted a short tribute on Facebook. Lynn posted some great photos around Lynchburg.

I also miss Jack's postings and pictures of Mimi. I wonder if he's able to get to Oglesby. Their Spring flowers should be blooming now.

Just stopping in for a minute.

I have heard good things about Hospice and wouldn't hesitate to have them if needed. I want to show that to my brother. For some reason he is very negative regarding Hospice.

Heading into a hot Memorial Day week-end.... I spent some time outside today. It was quite warm but we had a nice breeze.

So nice to see you posting Johann!

I hope Larry feels better tomorrow.

Good night everyone.

Heading for bed soon.......

I've done very little cooking lately because I don't have the energy, but today I wanted some blueberry muffins. I had them in the oven before I realized I didn't add the oil! I think I'm out of practice.  ;) They actually aren't bad. I used a lot of blueberries which may have helped. I just had one with a cup of tea.

Chape is watching an NBA game.

Larry - We're in for a hot week-end too. It's still 83 outside but that isn't unusual for us.

Our youngest daughter and her husband were here for Mother's Day week-end. They are a joy to have around. Her husband loves to cook and does the shopping and clean-up too. He's a gem.  :)

Mary Ann - I did a search and found an obituary for Pat. It's under the name of Patricia J. Scott, which surprised me. Here is a link to it: https://www.everhere.com/ca/obituary-guelph-patricia-j-scott-9197882

I was so sad to hear of Pat's passing. She has been through so much these past few years. I met her at one of the SN Bashes years ago and we became friends. She and Paul visited us here in Florida a few times. Good memories!

Jackie - Please accept my condolences in the passing of Richard. You are doing well in coping with all the problems that one faces, especially without close family to help.

Larry - I'm sorry to hear you have been having health problems. Your temps are a lot like ours. Looks like summer weather is upon us!

Callie - Have you had any of the bad storms that have been hitting Oklahoma and Texas? I read today that this is the 6th anniversary of the tornado that nearly wiped out Moore.

I have some health issues of my own (don't we all?) and one day soon I'll explain.

Hi Everyone! I'm back for awhile... Since Christmas I've had health problems and don't often feel like posting. I do keep up with Facebook, mostly for contact with my family. I had nearly non-stop company during February and most of this month. Mostly family but they're a big help when they are here.

I am so sorry to hear of June's passing. As others have said, she was an inspiration. Always looking on the bright side and seeing the best in everyone.

I also did a search for obituaries but found none. I remember her saying once that June was her middle name so after searching some more, I found her name...Marjory June Drabek. It's possible they haven't posted an obituary yet so I'll continue to look.

Larry - Sorry to hear you've been feeling "under the weather" lately. I've missed all of you and hope to come in here more often.

A rainy day in Florida today........We could use it. We've had a long period of nice weather.

Chape gave me a "Grand-Pad" for Christmas. (I didn't even know I wanted one!  :) ) It's a lot like an I-Pad but fairly simple to use. The main reason he got it is for making video calls with the family. I talked to my daughter in New Hampshire tonight. Really a lot of fun. She can walk around the house with her phone to show me things, like the new half-bath they put in on the first floor. And I could watch the antics of her Bengal cats.

Lauri said the  dinner and breakfast she had on the plane were restaurant quality, complete with dessert and treats for later. This morning I woke up to a message from her and a picture of her having dinner in Bangkok. I am still amazed at what they do with technology!

Mary Ann - You've done more traveling than I have. My favorite place I've travelled is to Calgary, Alberta for the SeniorNet Bash. We went on a tour to Lake Louise and surroundings. Unforgettable! These days I'm happy just staying close to home.

I'm a few days late but I wish you all a Happy and Healthy 2019! I started the year off on the wrong foot by coming down with a nasty virus on New Years Eve (My hubby shared his with me!) Terrible cough followed by a bad head cold. I spent the last couple of days either in bed or the recliner. Today has shown a lot of improvement.

I join those who miss Guy Lombardo on New Years Eve. Do they even sing Auld Lang Syne anymore?

Jane - Nice to see you posting in here. Norm's Bait and Tackle goes back many years. Remember when the Soda Shoppe was "Bis' Nest" on SN and Joan went by Biscuit? We met at several of the bashes.

My daughter, Lauri, is on her way to Thailand. She flew last night to Qatar, a 13+ hour flight, has a 10 hour layover and tomorrow flies to Bangkok. We had a chat this afternoon on the Facebook Messenger. She said the airport in Qatar is beautiful and has a lady's lounge complete with recliners where she can rest. Her friend, who is on a sabbatical in Thailand, will meet her in Bangkok. After a few days there, they will continue on to Shanghai. It's a trip I can't imagine taking!

I don't have much of an appetite, but need to go find something to eat.

Mary Ann - Originally on SeniorNet there was the SN International Cafe led by Joan Grimes and Pat Scott. That's where so many of us learned to post in color, etc. using HTML. Norm was a regular in the "Cafe" as was Papa John. I won't go into all the details, but there was a lot of friction caused by some misunderstandings and remarks. As a result Norm left the "Cafe" and started a new discussion he called "Norm's Bait and Tackle". I followed, along with many others, but also stayed with the "Cafe". I'm not sure when he went from posting in the Michigan group to opening up Norm's Bait and Tackle.  I remember the "passports" (all in fun) that we had to apply for. He used to mention his friend, Dot, and we were all so happy when they got married! Eventually I met Norm and Dot and many of the other SeniorNetters, including Papa John. So many have passed on. I also remember when we started to see some posts from you, Mary Ann.  :)

Mary Ann - I just read your post and I'll try to give you some history of Norm's Bait and Tackle tomorrow.

My life has been a little topsy turvy lately and I've been neglecting S & F. I've been reading through the messages and have missed quite a lot! I do check into Facebook every day as that's where I have a lot of contact with friends and family back home. We did very few Christmas decorations this year but we did get our tree up and decorated.

We had a very quiet Christmas. Our granddaughter, Erin, her husband and son Brody will be here Friday for a late Christmas celebration.

Larry - I am so sorry to hear of Pat Halbach's recent medical problems. I last "spoke" to her before the surgery.

I found the lyrics to the song "Turn Around" for Emma and all the little ones in our families. Tugs at my heartstrings!

Turn Around

Where are you going my little one, little one
Where are you going my baby, my own
Turn around and you're two
Turn around and you're four
Turn around and you're a young girl
Going out of the door
Turn around
Turn around
Turn around and you're a young girl
Going out of the door
Where are you going my little one, little one
Little pigtails and petticoats
Where have you gone
Turn around and you're tiny
Turn around and you're grown
Turn around and you're a young wife
With babes of your own
Turn around
Turn around
Turn around and you're a young wife
With babes of your own
Where are you going my little one, little one
Where are you going my baby, my own

I mentioned this picture over in "Norm's place".  I took this many years ago in Oklahoma at dusk of a scissortail flycatcher. Never was able to get a good photo of one.
