February 16, 2019, 01:36:23 pm

Good Saturday Afternoon,  Everyone...

I know how hard it is to change ones schedule...
It has taken me years to get used to living
with limited vision.  But if I fall down enough,
or bump into enough things,  eventually,  I will
remember ...

I have come to realize through the years,
that  my brain has a "mind" of it's own...
and sometimes even when my intentions are good,
my mind  (sub conscious?) lives in its own
reality...

Most of the time we are in sync..
But sometimes not so much and often
there is a battle that goes on the two.

I don't mean to make this sound depressing,
because for me,  it is not.  I kinda like
having more the one perspective on things!!!
 :D  :coolsmiley:  :uglystupid2:

Good Day,  ALL !

Good Morning from the cold but not
freezing,  rocky coast of Maine.

We got some snow,  but today most of that is going to
melt because the temperature is rising....   Yeah!
But it will be rainy so  I will not be getting out
any time soon.

Jane... Why don't you buy and inexpensive keyboard from
Walmart..  The keys on   your old one  are probably
sticking.. and it is time for a new one.   Keyboards are
not very expensive and even the cheaper ones will last
a long time as long as something doesn't get spilled on
them ..

Good luck and if the cheaper one works for a while,
perhaps in the future when you get a newer
computer,  you can try out the fancier keyboards.

I have found that the less expensive ones work
just as well and my fingers are used to them...
so they are easier to use.

Have a good day,  everyone and  stay warm and dry ..

Michael.

Thank you very much for letting us know
about the forthcoming upgrade to our system.

Even though upgrades are not always fun, it
is important to know that they are very
necessary in order to stay current with
the software that we use in here.

Staying currant is just part of what is
necessary so that we don't crash and burn...

Your work is much appreciated.

Good Morning Everyone from the soon
to be snowy, windy, rainy and sleety
rocky coast of Maine.

Kelly is picking me up at 11AM to
go get my INR drawn and some grocery
store.

I don't mind having my blood drawn
through my arm,  but I hate my fingers
getting pricked.

Since I will be living with coumadin and
having blood drawn monthly and sometimes weekly,
I should get over my hate for finger  pricks.

But I am putting that off as long as I can. :-\

Larry ...
Sorry to see that you are still having
breathing issues...  I admire your ability
to persevere at times when you are most
uncomfortable.

You know your own body and what
you can handle,  and when to listen to
the doctors recommendations...  but it is
very hard to have to give up your
routines...

I hope that they can come up with
methods that will let you return to
being more independent.

Have a great day,  everyone even
while a storm is approaching.

Take care.

Good Morning Everyone,  from the cloudy,
cool, and windy,   but not icy cold,
rocky coast of Maine.

Just a note to say that all is well here
in my world,  and to remember all of the
brave people that we have here in
Seniors and Friends.   Many who
are suffering more then they let on,
but seem to be taking each day, one day
at a time,  and blessed for the good days,
hours, moments that we do have
as we pass through this life.

I try to be always grateful for the Good Times.

Still waiting for the Sunshine and trying to
remember that this is still only
February...  and we have a lot of Winter
left here in New England.

Smile...   ;D

Well,  the Pats won,  (barely),  but as they

Regarding "A place for everything,
and everything in its place"..
Just the thought of trying to live by
that slogan makes me have ultra high
Anxiety...  I would never find peace.
 :crazy2:

But when trying to organize,  I try to make
sure that everything does have a space (or a drawer)
or an container...   And I try to keep things
together that belong together..

I try but I soon fail.  Someday,  maybe.

My stuff is still sitting on the dining table..
just waiting for organization to claim it.

Good Morning from the very cold and clear,
rocky coast of Maine.

I am also "Sorting and Pitching"...
which is a long time overdue.
Now my dining room table is pilled high
with "stuff".. to be pitched or sorted
and put away...

Who said "a place for everything and everything
in it's place"..

I am trying but it is very slow going...

Any  how,  I should get to WORK... but I
soon find any good excuse to stop and put it off,
for another day.

Good evening one and all from the cold,
cold, cold,  rocky coast of Maine.

Jenny,  I am so sorry to hear the bad news
about Michele's Cancer.  Doesn't sound good.

Larry ..  why don't you go buy yourself
a hot rod Rolator, like mine:

https://express.google.com/u/0/product/5180689045671228948_4242768618990603053_1699011?utm_source=google_shopping&utm_medium=tu_cu&utm_content=eid-lsjeuxoeqt&gtim=CInQqIXhueTGwwEQz5-_n8rDq8ckGJC1m1siA1VTRCig_-jiBTDD2Wc&utm_campaign=1699011&gclid=Cj0KCQiA7briBRD7ARIsABhX8aAdU9Fzdo1r1KOp1MsDpqFn1abwoCvXXDU35Y7fPMfVE8kSDkfj2Y0aAkCFEALw_wcB

I know that it is a wee bit expensive,  but
worth every cent, to have a place to stop
and rest up before moving on.

Plus it is like carrying a puppy...
people just love to stop and chat about it.
I also recommend a life alert to hang
around your neck.

I know just having these two things, makes
me feel safe and  not have to worry
about being stranded with out help or
a safe place to sit and relax.

I know that you know all about this...
but I encourage you so you will benefit
from having peace of mind, and a safe place
to sit.

Have a warm and toasty evening,  Everyone
Sandy

Good Morning Everyone
from the freezing cold and windy,
rocky coast of Maine .    It is 13 deg /F with
a wind chill of -5 deg/f ...   Last night
is suppose to be the worst for cold and low
wind chills. and it will be slow warming up
into the 20's (maybe)..  Typical Maine
weather.

The lady on the "Life Line" was from
Florida! And  "Life Line" picked her
up here in Maine..      *Funny!

Tomorrow I have my bi yearly appointment
with my Cardiologist.   No problems,
just a checkup ...   They take good
care of me.

June... I have to make a long list
of things to remember when I see the
Doctors, or I sit there like a dummy
with not much to say.    :knuppel2:

Have a good day,  Everyone.

Good Evening Everyone...

Glad to see that LLoyd has returned home
safely ... Hope his wife is feeling better
soon.

I had a funny thing happen tonight.

I was sitting at my desk and heard a voice
coming from my Life Alert.    No bells or whistles
just a voice that sounded like a phone call.

Come to find out the phone call was from
Florida...  The person calling and I got
laughing because my "phone call"  came
over my "Life Alert" box.

I called "Life Alert"  and they immediately
reset  my "Life Alert"  box and checked and
made sure everything was working ok
and we had a nice chat and hopefully
everything is working OK,  and I will not
get any more "phone calls"  over my life
alert system.

I have been with Life Alert now for many
years ....    Since I signed up with them
there has been many more "Alert Systems"
come  advertised...  Once in a while I
checked them out but always come to the
decision that my "Life Alert" is really
the best choice for me.  And there would be
no advantage for me switching to a system
that might be a bit cheaper.

I guess for me it comes to I get
what I  pay for,  while all the other
businesses are competing for my business,
I need to remember how very good
my "Life Alert" system really is.

(I hope that I do not get any more phone
calls over it !!)  :D

It very cold and windy here in Maine
tonight..    But I am prepared.

Quote from: Amy on January 20, 2019, 07:26:29 amGood morning everyone..

Sandy, we have CNIB here for the blind and they help in getting aids for those that need eg phones. Do you have something like that you could go through for a phone with larger numbers on it? I believe we all should have a landline, when power goes out so do the portable phones, not sure about cell phones though.

I am very fortunate here in Portland to have
the Iris Network    https://www.theiris.org/
right down the street from me.  The rehab
specialists come right  into my home
when needed.

So I can check with them to see what they
have available for low vision telephones.
(for future use,  in case I need one) ...

I feel so fortunate to live in the city
of Portland that is so convenient for those
of us  who need public transportation etc...

Years ago,  when I knew that I was going to
be living alone,  I choose "city living"
here in Portland,  because it helped
me to maintain my independence.   For
help with medical and physical future needs.

I hope that it is a long run.

Good Evening Everyone from the soon to
be snowbound rocky coast of Maine.

Spectrum came and installed my phone.
The phone I got from Amazon is on its way
back.  It was not working correctly,
so I dug out an older Pansonic land line
phone and it is working very nicely.

I will use it until I can come up with
another land line phone that I can use
that will  be easier to use for vision
impaired people like myself.

I JUST  want a landline where I can
push one button to call my kids and
close friends.

I might even be able to make this older
pansonic do what I would like my
new one to do.

So I shipped the new phone back,
and I am very happy with the land line
working with my old phone.

A huge storm is headed in my
direction with snow and possibly lots
of ice...   A good time for me to stay home
and watch the cars slipping and sliding down
the main street out side my Windows to
the world.

Have a nice evening Everyone...

Good evening everyone...

Thanks for all the good advice ...   My landline
from Spectrum is not going to be my main phone.   I
use my smart phone for most everything,  now...

The new land line could verywell in the future
become my only phone.     I was lost having only
one phone to depend on (my cell)   so now I have two
working ones.    And the people closest to me will have
both phone numbers  so we can check up on one another.

My smart phone sits right here at my desk plugged in
and ready to use 24/7...     I feel much more secure
with two phones lines working,  now.

Good Morning Everyone from the cold, cold, cold
rocky coast of Maine...

I am sitting here waiting for my new land line
to come from Amazon...

I have decided to get it from Spectrum (the old Time
Warner Cable),  so that I have access to two phones,
instead of just my cell.     That way,  if something
should happen to my cell,  I have another phone here
in my apartment to use.

Tomorrow Spectrum is coming to install it.
For less then $10 a month, I have a good
landline with answering machine.  And I can talk
as long as I want to around the country  for
no extra charge.   (Just like my cell phone) ...
Gone are the limits to my chatting on the phone!!

All is well here,  but very cold and snow is on
the way.

Happy belatted birthday Shirley,   Hi
to June   et al...
