Oldiesmann: I must not have set the permissions correctly for that board when I set the site up again a few years ago (long story - there was a server crash years ago and no backup, so we had to start over from scratch). I'll fix it soon.

The size? probably need to compress more.

Does that mean that every photo posted here is 130k or less?

In an average photo, I resize the highest number, width, or height to 900 with other numbers adjusting to fit. Then I set a jpg compression to 20 and send it to my photo folder. I was playing with a Selectric focus.

try that on a macro of flower like our Japanese friend used to post... I think it gives the best effect with one main central point of focus and the surrounding foggy.

Sorry, you'll have to wait a few months for that!  The original photo(s)  was taken on the way to the bus depot last summer. The attempt using my photo program didn't work as well as my Nikon. I used a photo taken last summer of a wild rose,(woodland rose); bush.

When I first started posting photos a few years ago, it was 500 on largest side and 150kb or less. Then Jeanne Lee said Pat changed it to 640 on largest side and 160kb or less.  But things have changed so much since then ??.

Perhaps Michael could let us know what his preference is since he has kindly given us space on his server.

Mary Ann

Jean, Beverly was concerned about you and Nestor in Norm's B&T, so will you go there to let her know you haven't blown away?

Amy, that is a wonderful loon family photo! Ours have also left for Southern climes. Jean, it was changed a year or so ago. When you post a photo, look at the automatic specifications. Also, Bubble, who is the administrator, will tell you the size used.

Amy

Patricia, thank you. I also have a photo of the Mom feeding one of the babies but not sure if it will post.I think he is saying MOM, I don't like sushi!! Cook it please! You cannot see attachments on this board.

Amy I resized your loon photo which was a bit big.
Max size should be 800px on the longest  side and no more than 120/130 Kb

Amy

Bubble, thank you. I do resize but couldn't believe the size when it posted!

I have used 900px for over a year, which is what the automatic sizing goes to for mine?

Amy, your loon photos are interesting, and I envy your proximity. We do have a 2,200-acre wildlife sanctuary that has the public viewing areas partially within city limits. Plus, the occasional city moose or other city animals. But the increasing city size plus my lack of mobility has cut short the rambling around the edges I used to enjoy.

so_P_bubble

Angel, 900 would be OK if the Kb is not too heavy!
Amy's loons were over 1.200 px if I remember correctly. Too much :)

Amy

Bubble, trying another one, I did shrink to 350  so we shall see.
Each morning when we went to work ,this little fellow would greet us. He didn't seem to be afraid of us and you could talk away to him.You cannot see attachments on this board.

What a cutie Amy!  But why that small? He deserves a 800!  :D

angelface555

On a 900 size I export to jpeg, compress at 20 which gives right on or about 99kb.

Amy, you have some nice animal photos! Do you have any Tundra and or Snowshoe hares in your area? They're very common here.

Amy

Patricia, thank you. Love photographing the wildlife here. We do have snowshoe hares here. The rabbits seem to go in cycles, at times you will see a lot, other times not so many.
