Vanilla-Jackie--We pay our fees quarterly--there are four different fees.

Good morning, Lloyd.

halkel--Sorry you lost your post.  I hope the PT helps.

Good morning, Sandy.  I sure am glad I don't have to go out to do my laundry.

OK, here goes!  I'm trying out Joanie's manual coding to get bold and color.

Having to go outside my apartment and down
to the first floor to do laundry,  is one thing that I would really
like to change...  but change is not possible...

I shouldn't complain,  because I am so very happy with
where I live here right in the heart of the "Arts District"
of Portland, Maine.     I am so grateful,  so I have to just
pack up my laundry,  get it done,  and stop complaining!
:jump:

As I have said before..  I was on a year long journey to
loose weight,  but have hit  a plateau,  that I
couldn't seem to get over.    So yesterday I re-joined
Weight Watchers and hopefully I will get back
on my downward track.    It seems that every time I am
on WW,  I do loose consistently,  but as soon as I
try to do it "on my own",  I start loosing the battle of the
bulge.    Fortunately I am maintaining my weight loss,
now  I just have to get back to utilizing the good
habits that WW affords me. (Side by side with
intermittent fasting)  ...

It is always  something!

Janie--Good job!!

Sandy--A woman I know lives in an Independent Living complex.  The one thing she didn't like was that she had to go down the hall to do her laundry.  So she had an "all in one" washer/dryer installed in her own apartment.  That cost her $5,000.  Rather steep, IMO.  Good luck going back on WW.

Jane, thank you so much, your post was very readable.

Hi everyone.  We have another overcast morning but expected to get to about 93 this afternoon.  The housekeeper will be here later this morning and Pat has a chiropractic appointment.  The good news here is that Pat is feeling a lot better.  When I got home yesterday afternoon, she told me that all of a sudden the severe pain was gone although the soreness remains.  She was able to walk without the cane or walker and actually felt like fixing the main dish for dinner last evening.  She did sleep again last night in her easy chair as is more comfortable than laying in bed.  I am looking forward to a quieter day today and tomorrow as other than drive Pat to her appointment this morning my schedule is clear.

Joan, I think saying I am becoming quite the cook may be pushing the envelope!  :)  However, I did put together a nice looking potato salad using canned potatoes.  I haven't tasted it yet but it looked good.

June, sometimes I really don't have much choice but to sit down and rest if I am going to be able to continue the work.  Hope you had a restful day yesterday.

Hal, there has been a sign on the property saying it was under contract for a couple of months and as fast as they are building it they must have a deadline to complete it.  They are framing the second story this morning.

Jenny, I hope you got to see your grandson yesterday on his birthday.  Isn't the time just speeding by?  My oldest great grandson is on his way to his 14th birthday and has lost the childish appearance as he is maturing.

deAngel, sure glad your area missed the tornado.

Jackie, that is a long time to wait for an appointment.

JaneS, I am pretty confident that the posting problem isn't related to Windows 10 as most of us are now using it and not experiencing the same problems.  I see the manual coding has saved the day. Good work.

Phyllis, the twins and Ellie are certainly cute.  I hope you will be getting a lot of pictures of them.

Lloyd, how exciting to have twins great grandchildren on the way.

Gloria

Good morning everyone, another evening I just laid on the couch and watched a movie on the tube. Thank goodness for the AC, no matter how low I set it, it was still on the warm side in here. With the sun beating on this side all afternoon and the heat bouncing up from the paved parking lot it was bearable but not really cool enough for me. Goind to be the same today, already I see on the TV it is 85°.

JOAN  that email mentioned something about an agreement with them. Heck I never signed any agreement with Microsoft. If this is true a lot of others would have got this email, too. There were a lot of links in it and I sure did not click on any of them. I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

HAL  when my daughter married and left for California I felt like I would never see here again and am happy we have seen each other often and now with Skype it is even better.

MARY ANN  like you I find some posts hard to read. I prefer black against the white. Your blue I find hard to read. I think Larry's are the easiest for me. Yellow red and pink I can hardly see.

PHYLLIS   adorable girls, twins and big sister.

JUNEE  my daughter and I both have an iPhone and could use their Face to Face but the screen on the iPhone is much smaller than the monitor is.

JOAN  thank you for all today's goodies.

HAL  good luck with the PT.

Good morning, Larry.  I am so very glad to read that Pat is feeling so much better.  I love potato salad, so am sure I'd like the one you made.

Gloria--Good morning.  Too bad your a/c doesn't cool as much as you desire.  I found out what being totally without a/c is like the other day when mine died.  That mail you got from Microsoft must have been some kind of a hoax.

CallieOK

Good Morning,

Finally - a break from several days of having to be ready for something at a certain time.  Of course, there's laundry - and desk work - and other domestic duties - but I can be as "leisurely" as I want to be with those.

Phyllis, the picture of the twins and their proud sister is just wonderful.

Lloyd, congratulations on the expected twins in your family.

Larry,  so glad Pat is feeling better.  One of my friend's recuperation from surgery involved gradually increasing the distance she could walk from the bedroom.  She laughingly said she wasn't going to tell her husband when she could go as far as the kitchen!
I was teasing Junee about the Marmite. She had brought some with her and insisted everyone at the dinner try some.   I don't remember that anyone asked for seconds!  :)

There's supposed to be a "cold" front moving in that will drop our temperatures about 20 degrees.  Don't think we'll need to get out the jackets, but it will be a welcome relief from the 110º heat indexes we've been having.

Wishing Everyfriend Everwhere a lovely day.

June Drabek

Yesterday turned out to be a "bust". spent the rest of the day in bed, and today will be another day of rest. Just feel very weak and a bit dizzy. My house keeper came in and I turned her away, said I was just to tired to get up and about.

I did want to make an appearance, and now I',m going back to bed and book. Hugs everyone. June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

Darn!  I wrote a message, went to sign my name and away went my post!

Gloria, I am not the only one who uses blue and I wonder if it is the color alone or maybe the size font.  My computer changes the font size often as I type, going larger, then smaller in the same post.  I will try to post in larger font size to see if that helps.  I cannot read the pink or yellow fonts, either.  I like color, especially blue, which is why I use that color and besides I hate to use a color that someone else has used for a long time.

Changing the font size by the icon above did nothing, but Control + did - if only it gets to you that way.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

Callie--Apparently you have been a busy bee.  I wish our temp would drop 20°.

June--I hope you will feel more like being up and about soon.

Mary Ann--Sorry you lost your post.  So far I have no trouble reading anyone's posts.

Quite some time ago I set my computers page zoom to 125%, if I want to zoom in this page larger I can set the zoom up a notch, but I find this is fine for me....I do of course wear my old pair of reading glasses when at my computer, so that does help, otherwise I would really have trouble reading anything from the computer screen...it would be one big blur...

Vanilla-Jackie--I have  prescription glasses, but I don't need them (yet) for computer work.

Good morning everyone! We are having partly cloudy to partly sunny days lately. I see the Headstart below and one street over is preparing again for classes.

This summer they added siding and tarred or did something to the roofs. Now they are cleaning the play yard and washing their two school buses inside and out.

They are also laying in provisions. The academic year starts on Labor Day and ends right about Memorial Day, with some of the charter or homeschooling doing it differently. I don't know if Headstart follows the public school calendar or not.

Farrah has a new unnerving habit of sitting by my chair quietly watching me. She remains there until I get out of the chair.  She is not shy about wanting attention or a treat. I believe she would do better with a second cat, but it isn't allowed here.

Jackie, I am reminded of the difference in American versus English slang once again when you mentioned grafter for your landlord as one who pitches in. Our use of the word usually refers to a con man and his profession or grafting.

I hope everyone is having a lovely day!

Vanilla-Jackie

#196
Angelface....... the way we refer to a grafter is someone who is not afraid of hard work.....someone not afraid to pitch in, nor afraid of getting their hands dirty, so to speak....

I can sure see that using " bold " makes all the difference....

Think we are all getting " bolder " in our years....
  ;D
" There is no present like the time "

angelface555

Jackie, bolder and more outspoken!  :)

I found this, below,  online by Googling the word. You can also use the word to mean grafting a plant or tree branch to another.

"(in American English) a person, especially a politician or a public servant, who obtains money unlawfully, using his/her position and power;

(in British English) a hard-working man,"

Shirley

Patricia, each of my cats at times would rather be an "only child".... but they go looking for each other when they don't know where the others are.  Even old LaurenKat had gotten used to Tom & Tiger in the RV so now doesn't want to come in if they are laying out by the pool.  She looks back to see if they are ready to eat when I call them.  I am surprised how they treat each other.... Lauren still hisses & orders them around, and all will stand & look when I allow Mama Callie to step inside the hall & kitchen from the garage.  She is curious but not comfortable inside and I'm watching like a hawk so she doesn't mark her territory ..... she isn't shy about being by my side when we go down to the river.

Jane, one time I couldn't get my computer to do any of the "fun stuff" & was when (old days) I was watching Glenn Curtis do cartoons & a Terry that did the water ripples.... found out it was one of the things like Flash, or Real or that type.. that had not updated.  Once I got that straightened out everything worked fine.  I know others will know what it takes.... I'm so dumb with names..... right now I have one update on the other computer I'm afraid to allow, sometimes an update will cause a big problem with my old Vista.  Good luck!

Sounds like Larry's Pat is doing better, Jackie getting those doctors under control & for the most part, EveryFriend is plugging along in the heat, either conquering too much or too little rain with gusto.  Okay, June, you can chill out one more day but don't make a habit of it!!!!  Love ya all....

I am still doing battle with the RV .... Ford got my metal valve stems in but can't find a big bay to install until a week from tomorrow.... promised them on last week~  Will cost me a bundle to pay for them & installation but I can't drive it until.  Really makes me angry to pay taxes, insurance & something new every time I pull out of the driveway.... but hurts worse when it sits there for months WAITING to be repaired & can't use at all.  Not how I imagined it would be.

JaneS

Shirley, I sure wish I knew what that is that needs updated.  Maybe I'll sic my granddaughter on it the next time she visits.  Not the one that sets my nerves on edge...the one who helps.

Today was a very busy day at WM.  I don't think I had even a few seconds between customers and there was a permanent line.  I think people are getting ready for school to start and today I had my first Bucknell University "set".  That's what a call one brand new Freshman student, one mama and one papa.  So I think they must be starting to come in.  I think I might be glad I'm not there tomorrow and Sunday.

I wish you all a pleasant evening!  Don't do anything you don't want to do.

Angelface--I wasn't familiar with "grafter" in that context.  Guess Farrah now knows how to get your attention.

Vanilla-Jackie--Now I understand.

Shirley--You have had nothing but trouble with that RV.

Janie--Good you aren't working this weekend with back to school/college shoppers.

Another nothing day....partly in bed and partly up so I don't get too bad in the circulation dept. I'm hoping to make it downstairs by tomorrow morning to check my mail, and to turn in an order for prescriptions. Everything I think should be done just seems to be too much strenuous to even try.  O.K. I have done my griping, enough said,

Weather here has been nice again today 84  for a high...it runs about the same each day, highs in the mid 80's dropping down to the  mid or high 60's before morning. But how we need a good rain storm.

As long as we are here, let's dance.

JeanneP

I am not going to complain about our weather . Maybe its hot but just watched the weather report and what a mess LA is having again. What was it 13 ft. of Rain again. Came down fast. All the flooding again. They are promising up maybe 3 inches over the weekend.
Mary Ann. I like you BLUE also. So easy to read.
Shirley. That motor home has had so much trouble. Bet you wish you have your little one back. Never seemed to have problems with it.

Chia

Angel..I just looked up the word "grifter" and it means con artists who try to steal money from people...There was a movie many years ago called "The Grifters" about a Mother and Son team who created havoc among trusting people...Incidentally, if I remember correctly,  I think the movie was great...

angelface555

Chia, the site I was using which is a series of online learning English tutorials, didn't have grifter which surprised me as I also know that word. Google search says, Urban Dictionary quote, "grifter
I can't believe the most common definition has been left out.

A grifter is someone who swindles you through deception or fraud.

Synonyms include fraudster, con artist, cheater, confidence man, scammer, hustler, swindler, etc.
1) That grifter swindled me out of £250,000!

2) "The first rule of grifting is, you can't cheat an honest man."

-Quote from the BBC show "Hustle."
#fraudster #con artist #cheater #confidence man #scammer #hustler #swindler"

I am sure I have used the term of " grafter " before in here, thank you angelface for enlightening me that in US speech the word has another more sinister meaning....I may need to do some checking up before I go ahead using some of our UK terms, not sure what trouble I am getting myself into otherwise....

Well I can now be safe to say, my late father was a " grafter " and I take after him.... ;D
..............................................................

Larry Hanna.........

......yes agree, a mighty long time to have to wait, but then this is our NHS, it is to be expected...although it does state at the bottom of my referral letter...quote...." Under the NHS Constitution, you have the right to start non-emergency consultant-led treatment within 18 weeks from referral- or where cancer is suspected, to be seen by a specialist within two weeks of urgent referral..." unquote....

I cant see anything on my letter that states this is an " urgent " referral..."....Guess it is down to them at the other end, they will be my judge, as to whether they see this as urgent or not....

Shirley.......

.......You have become " very colourful..." are you giving us a choice? can we pick out our favourite colour?... :D
