Ethan Allen, of Revolutionary War fame, he also was a founder of Vermont and a leader of the Green Mountain Boys, a militia group which was formed partly to oppose New York's encroachment, through land grants, into the territory between New York and New Hampshire. Allen later led a group of Green Mountain Boys in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga.

William G Allen of the Allen Manufacturing Company in Connecticut was the first to produce the Hex Key that would come to be most commonly known as an Allen wrench in 1910.

Of course, not a single one of those things is the same size. I keep them all, but when I need one, I can never find the right size.
