Marilyne, someone commented about a lawn service working. Well, here our edict allowed lawn services! Lol.  Guess they don't want the grass growing up around our houses so bad it will attract critters, like rats, snakes.  The county where my daughter works issued their stay at home Monday, and she informs me this morning that she has to have "travelling papers" to carry with her as she drives to work (in an essential business), so she won't get ticketed. They have been staggering the work hours for the different employees, so she was off Monday, half day yesterday, all day today. As of last Saturday, there was only one case of CV in her county. Hope it stays that way. One of the surrounding counties, just outside Dallas has determined that "all businesses are essential" and wants everybody to keep working.  This county is not too far North of us, and a lot of their work force even drive to Dallas for their work.  (it is a rather richey-bitchey area, whose local government seem to think money is the reason to let all keep working). Let me say to all those here whose relatives have been furloughed, or let go, you have my sympathies. It's bad enough to be under "house arrest" for however long, but nothing like not having a job to go back to. :'(

"Marilyne, the virus seems to have run its course in China, and things are stabilizing with many activities and movements returning to normal. China has begun sending supplies and relief efforts to many countries."

I underlined the part about you as I understood it. I don't believe China will be doing that much aid here as Republicans continue to call this the China or Asian virus. There has been talk in Euronews and other South American and European news organizations that China and the US are more about politics and influencing then their own people.

I just finished talking about my computer with HP arbitration. They say they've found my desktop and will be doublechecking its repair and sending it back to me. They will doublecheck and call me Monday afternoon to see if I've received it. They also said they would be extending my warranty for one full year until August 2021. If all goes well, this seven month saga will be over soon.

Rallying round in UK's time of need...Yesterday Boris Johnson announced a whopping 405,000 people have signed up to volunteer for the NHS after the Government launched its NHS volunteer scheme...

Our UK is now in its three week " full National lockdown " until April 13th then to be reviewed..

We are soon coming up to April 1st ( April Fools day ) oh if only this was...an April fools prank..

I am still debating the advisability of going to the grocery store for the few items I am almost out of. I haven't considered seeing if there is delivery available yet. I think one store suspended it. My order would be too small anyway, and they are things I can work around for now. There are now, as of yesterday, 13 cases in my county. They are being all closed mouthed about where in the county for privacy reasons. I don't need to know who, I just would like to know what areas to avoid. My sister, on the other hand, has been to the grocery store three times since this all started. She is taking precautions when she goes. She buys a lot of fresh produce, etc. which doesn't keep long. I, for one, prefer to stay away from the produce department because people tend to pick through loose fruits and veggies looking for the best ones. The store here are putting up "sneeze guards". Sue says that they are relatively small and the clerk she talked to was not convinced they will be very effective. I don't tend to be susceptible to flu virus (have had only two or three in my entire life) but have had bronchitis. I do not want to go through that kind of thing again. I like to breath.

Just saw that one of our aircraft carriers has reported some cases of the virus among the crew. The ship is deployed in the Pacific and had docked in Vietnam or Thailand (forget which) about two weeks ago.

George is back from upstate. It appears the virus has hit the less populated counties as well. The speculation is that it travelled in with hunters (lots of hunting and hunters camps up that way), and maybe, some who came up to get away from the virus In the more populated areas. That is one of the ways the plague spread in Europe and the Mediterranean way back when.

I just want people to know i am up but not around.  I seem to hit keys on the wrong row.  Back to hunt and peck.  I'm about the same but I'm not bragging.  Anyway, I am still here, had breakfast and will take pills soon.

Keep out of trouble.

A THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
We who lived in concentration camps can remember the men who walked through the huts comforting others, giving away their last piece of bread. They may have been few in number, but they offer sufficient proof that everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way. -Viktor Frankl, author, neurologist and psychiatrist, Holocaust survivor (26 Mar 1905-1997)

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Good to see you still have your sense of humor and your upbeat attitude.  That's what we all need, in the face of this relentless virus.  I wonder if Annie will continue to travel, or if she will stay in either Tulsa or GR?  I've heard that some domestic flights within the US have been canceled or suspended.

Joy - So glad that you're home again!  Your family will take good care of you, even if they cannot enter your apartment!  As you said, they can leave food outside your door.  We're so lucky to have cell phones, and the computer to keep up with friends and family who are getting restless and lonely.

Last night we had a video chat, with our son and dil.  It was fun to talk and to see them!  I hope Sandy can get it set up on her computer.  She's alone in her apartment, and needs to see us.  Shelley and Claire, who live about 150 miles from us are trying to set up the video chat, but not successful so far.

MarsGal - Glad George is back home, so you don't have to feed the cats.  He will probably stay put for the time being.  I hadn't thought about the fresh produce, until you mentioned the fact that it has to be handled by a number of different people, until it's set out at the market. I think I might stay away from the leafy salad stuff for awhile.

Jackie - I keep looking online to see how Prince Charles is doing, but no news about him for the past 24 hours?  I'm sure he will remain at Balmoral, until he is well, and maybe for the duration of this plague. (Which looks to be a long, long time into the future, according to all news sources.)

Beverly

Good morning.

Mary Ann - I'm doing my best to keep out of trouble.  :) I can't get into too much mischief these days. I hope you have a good day.

MarsGal - My husband was making some trips to the store and we decided the risk wasn't worth it. You're right about people handling the produce. The larger grocery store chains here have delivery service. If you only have a few items you want, do you know someone who is still doing shopping and would be willing to pick them up?

Jackie - Wow! Being 52nd on the list.....That could take some time.

I ordered my groceries online last night. They're supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I don't expect to get everything on the list because I know supplies on some items are limited.

Joy - I'm glad to hear you will be going home. It will feel good to be in your own surroundings again. Also, you may have less chance of getting this virus.

Good morning Marilyne and Patricia. It's noon here now but still morning where you are.

Mary Ann

I just posted something somewhere but it ovbiously was not here.  I did not say anything important but it would be in Soda Shoppe!  All's well so far.

... with such lack of telephone staff ( our C -Virus ) i can assume these lengthy places in the queue lines will become our norm...

Marilyne...
...seems Prince Charles's Camilla is clear from it so i should imagine they are both keeping there distance from each other...mind you in a palace with x amount of rooms, i should imagine that this wont be such a hard thing for them to do...

Mary Ann...

💐💐 GOOD MORNING EVERYONE 💐💐

I have to admit I honestly had a melt down early last evening after loosing a rather detailed post😩 I of course did not keep saving it as I went along, and it was nearly done and something came across my screen and I clicked on it.....tried to go back to the post and it was no where to be found😤😤. My own stupidity......but it was the straw that broke the camels back😡.  Today I am saving every few sentences, so hopeI will be able to post this.

Yesterday I was all up in arms over our golf course that surrounds our little community was open for business and the parking lot was packed to the gills!  Why do people not think the rules apply to them?  Every nice day we have had here it has been this way.  I understand people want to be out and about, but IMHO this is pushing the point for distancing  it our selves from one another.  Our governor puts out the order to shelter in one place, beginning this morning at 6 AM..... so far, it appears it has worked.....the golf course is closed however about 10  cars have come and gone in hopes they would find their course open!  This is why they have taken these strong measures is because some people just do not get it that we need to stay home!  This is the only way we are going to beat this horrible virus.

Dr. Dave continues to go to work each day and the amount of people he has to see a day is almost frightening......so many folks that need this wound care.  Sadly, like all medical staff the items they need to protect themselves and the patients is in very short supply.  Michele ordered material and elastic and is making homemade masks to help them out.

I hope you all are taking good care of yourselves and staying safe.

Have a good rest of your day.

Just took our evening walk around the block.  It felt so good with a nice soft breeze.  We saw one person walking her dog and a couple of people just sitting outside.  Yes we kept plenty of distance.😊

We watched two movies and played a few computer games.

I found a new recipe for meatloaf and made that yesterday.  It was the best I've made and today we had meatloaf sandwiches.  I still have enough left for tomorrow.

Not much to write about.  A nurse is coming in to help out my grandson who was sent home from the hospital.  They taught his wife how to manage with his intravenous feeding and he was started on his immunotherapy yesterday.  His wife says the hardest thing is keeping the children inside as they are in Calif. and the virus is bad there and everyone is on a strict stay in the home.

I hope all of you are doing OK.  Our governor hasn't issued a statewide mandate except for the beaches, but our local officials have and all non-essential stores and government offices are closed and also schools.  I sure hope this awful thing goes away soon.

Have a nice evening, everyone.

Hello Beverly,
If I remembered how, I would be printing in a larger text. I did see your message and brought back memories of happy times.
Years have past and. Am now in Aged Care .  Being now 97 have self isolated myself. We are in lock down. Son lives nearby but can only visit 2-5pm clad in mask, gloves and has his temperature taken at
On entrance.
Hope you and Chape are well now.  The whole world is in turmoil and I wonder how and when it will end.
Think it was in Calgary we met.  Whimsy was such a good hostess and driver and showed me lots of USA.  Was able to talk to her the night before she left us.  I enjoyed showing her and her sister,my country when she came to visit.
Beverly was a shock to find such poor wifi when I came here and we had to get our own router and this had been on my list when looking for Aged Care.  Keep well, noted you had some photos  Lol. June

Will ask my son about the text but he did not grow up with internet but does his best for me.  🙋‍♀️😄

Your text if perfect for most of us. A few do find lot of them to small. I don't have to put my readers on.
Most of our senior places are closed to people also. Some will not let anyone in for even that  few hours. Now if the person upset about not seeing family I think they will do something about that.
Illinois is feeling it hard but Gov. and everyone great. My town, even though small ( we do have twin city) so 3 big hospitals and few clinics have tents outside. if only the rain would stop. I have staying in for 10 days. Have lots of what I need and my next door works at Walmarts at night and will drop off milk and bread in the morning. Lots to do in the house and lived alone for 55 years so don't let that bother me. Good though that we now have all this technology that keeps us connected.
You stay well. Glad son lives close. Are your schools all closed down? GGD. Still active in sport

Junee, you are wise to stay inside,  I stay inside by force because of the temperatures and will until things  warm up.

I had quite the treatment tonight  when Jan came over.  I had many salves suggested and Jan and Tom put them on (Jan doing the private areas). Every nurse has her/his favorite products so the product changes  I won't go into detail because I am using a new computer and I don't know what I am doing.  I do know that Tom will help me into bed.  The pillow last night did not work; it was too big and hard to turn over on my left side.  Even though I like to sleep on my side, I should elevate my  legs and that is not going to happen!!!

I was able to talk to Tom's granddaughters, Alicia, Geoff and his wife tonight which was nice - Alicia from Holland and Geoff from California.  Big thrill.

I'm going to quit while I am ahead.

This morning i struggled to put out one of our weekly wheelie dustbins, i have to place it at the end of my narrow pathway leading to the step onto our downhill road, only this is so narrow blocking my way out with my rollator...I was so lucky this minute catching the rubbish truck and going to my front door and calling out to him, asking him if he will kindly put my bin back as i am disabled and he happily did so as i can if i try get myself out for that short stroll down the hill and back again, what a kind man he was i am so grateful to him and i told him so, he was so obliging..

I am all dressed to take this short stroll i am only waiting on as to whether my MS body will allow me to at the moment, as it is so so changeable every second every minute of the day, my body does what it does when it wants to, my MS body controls me not the other way around...i can hear the birds singing outside and i so want to get outside to join them..

Edited: i am back, just a short downhill-uphill stroll but it is good being out and about amongst the birds...Make today a good day as sadly today many folks around the world wont even have that pleasure, nor to even see another day..

Jackie, those are very interesting pictures.  Tom told me to look at the Duluth Harbor photos, which I have not done yet but when a ship is coming in or going out, there usually are mobs, and probably now no one is there.

I got up about and hour ago and my leg is paining me something awful.  a  pain pill does not help much but I will take one in a few minutes.  I'm in the midst of drinking my breakfast so I will have that much out of the way.\\

It looks to be a nice day, but not nice enough to get out.  Walkers can get out, but sitters would find it a bit cool.

Jackie  -  Thanks for posting the photos!  I found them to be fascinating, and plan to send them on my daughter.  I'm glad you received the email from your Parkhome Society, and that they are now aware that you're alone, and that you have MS.  That gives you a feeling of relief, that if something goes wrong and you have to call for help, they already have information about you.  Good that you got out for a walk.  I may give it a go this afternoon also.

Mary Ann  -  So sorry that your leg is very painful this morning.  I wish you could see a a doctor, but I know that it's difficult in this time of Coronavirus.   No one wants to go near anyplace where there might be sick people with CV.  I'll take a look at the Duluth Canal, when I finish here.  I wonder if people will come out to see "Paul"?   It would be hard to adhere to the six foot distancing, so I doubt it.

UK have lost their first GP surgery doctor to the C - Virus, his surgery was in Essex...I am assuming he caught it off one of his patients..

" Dr Sarah Zaidi, his daughter, who is also a GP, stated that her dad had been showing coronavirus symptoms and had been self-isolating.

She said: "For that to be the thing that took him is too much to bear. It is reflective of his sacrifice. He had a vocational attitude to service."

Marilyn, last week we went to my CPC and I told him about the leg and he and Tom have e-mailed about it  He had no suggestions.  It is in the groin area and at times moved across the lower back toward my left hip.  I hate to think of it being one of those things where nothing further can be done.

Been watching a little news--.   We have been having such nice weather and walking around the block in the evenings, trying to get a little exercise.

Jackie, your prime Minister was interviewed on the business channel.  Sorry to hear he has Covid-19.  The reports say that the older people are more vulnerable but half the deaths in the US are between 18 and 49.  I think there is a lot to be learned about this virus and we will probably be surprised with what we eventually learn.

Mary Ann, I hope pain medicine works for that leg pain.  That can be miserable.

I mopped the kitchen and that's about the extent of my housework for today except for meals, of course.   Looks like the House of Representatives is trying to get the big bill passed.  I feel so bad for all those who have lost their jobs.  Lord help us is all I can say.  Sad times.

Tomereader1

MaryAnn, I'm not one who subscribes to pain medications, I think they mask the reasons for the pain.  Your doctor needs to run some tests, find out what is "causing" the pain, and treat that. I know you were recently hospitalized, so surely they ran tests of some kind.  I wish you the best in your recuperation, and think Tom is wonderful by taking care of you so well.
