Spearmint is a type of mint, as I understand it.  It smells wonderful, but so invasive.
I've pulled more, but still lots to do.

I got my "summer shearing" today...I'd tried letting my hair grow, but it's so thick and stick straight, I gave up today and told her to do a "shearing" so it's back to short and easier to manage.  With my shoulders and elbow and finger pains, this will be much better....brush and go.

Take care, Babes!

I had my pandemic hair cut the first part of April .  I had  a very long pony tail . My hair has always been straight , now I have a bit of curl on the ends .  Its now shoulder length   .       .

maryz

Looks great, alpiner!

Very nice, Alpiner!

The rains have started and hurrah for that.  Temps now in the 50s, and I'm having a Reading Day!

Stay healthy,

Jane

Yikes....back to 40 degrees, blustery wind and rain!  Feels more like late fall than spring.  AC a few days ago and now heat on!.,,¡

Tonight is my turn to have our Fri night group...got reservations at a place 15 miles away and picked up pumpkin bars and fudge bars for dessert here with wine for three other 4.

Stay healthy,

Jane

We must all be in haircut mode. I got mine done today and will have her "do" it just before we leave for St. Louis the 11th. Her styling always lasts longer than mine. It is still quite short. Jane I love your haircut in your picture.  Alpiner, yours looks nice too, but I couldn't stand having hair that long and having to fuss with it.

Jane, can't believe you have cooled down that much! We were at 89 today, but supposed to cool to lower 80's later next week.  Hope you had a nice time tonight, Jane. Even though it's hot here, I'm still hurting a lot.My arthroscopy is scheduled for June 16. I do hope it takes away the knee pain.

Hi to all. I'm going to read and watch some TV. Sharon

alpiner1

SharonE  I had no choice on the length of my hair .  The shops were all closed & I don't trust my husband cutting my hair !  He did once !  It was a pain to wash .  His hair had grown to his shoulders & he looked like Einstein !

patricia19

Jane, I sent you a PM.

maryz

It's supposed to cool off tomorrow - high of 66!  But back into the mid80s by the end of next week.  It's still spring.

Marilyn and alpiner, did y'all get to see the eclipse the other night?  None of it was visible in the eastern part of the country.

I've had a wonderful afternoon and dinner.  Kate and Jean came to Margaret's for Henry's first birthday party tomorrow. We went out to dinner to a local restaurant (my treat, of course), and had a fabulous meal. I had grilled grouper, Margaret got a chicken dish, Kate & Jean shared a prime-rib-for two (an enormous hunk of beef). We all tried everything and, of course, took home doggie bags. Yum!

I come to check on y'all often & had to giggle at your comment, Mary, "My treat, of course". I've been doing & saying that since Cas died. I just tell them that "I'm spending your inheritance and getting to enjoy with you AND spending it the way I LIKE". Nobody objects!  :D
Both of my gr-fathers were "Henry", happy first to yours!

I've been cutting my own hair since 8th grade. It has gone to "black, horse hair thick & coarse" to much thinner & fine, ghost white. I've tried a few times over the years to have it done but every single hairdresser wanted to thin it & do it up, not me. When beehives were in (remember those?) I could have a pile on top without back combing. I was about to panic before Cas died and I couldn't find the Schick injector blades I use. Cas finally discovered some in a shop here so I try to keep enough ahead to last a long time. I had to start dyeing my hair before 30 & quit about 50. When my cousins are all in a room we can light it up, strong gene.

Sounds like all of you have made it through this long-long year in good shape. I only have two places to take flowers here, for Cas & a grandbaby that died shortly after she was born. Where Cas is only allows fresh flowers but I take artificial to the baby. Later I will make a trip to MO to put flowers on my parents graves. Some things we do because we always did, right?

alpiner1

martyz   The eclipse was like 4:30 a.m. here . too early for me !

alpiner1

My hair has always been thick .  Back in the 70's I tried putting my hair in a french twist ,  I stepped outside & the wind blew the pins out !   My hair has  what the hair stylist refers to as "high lights"  but still mostly the original color . I never have dyed it .

SharonE

My hair is natural color also, dark blond with gray mix. I used to have highlights, but decided it wasn't necessary at 80! I have nearly always kept my hair reasonably short. Shoulder length as a HS senior, short in college, and mostly since. Tried a page-boy once for a while, but then went short again and have stayed pretty much that way since. Much easier for me to care for. It was straight growing up but thick after puberty and curly after chemo, though it has straight patches.

Hi Shirley. Good to see you. Can't imagine cutting my own hair!

Mary, I know you had a wonderful time with Henry's birthday and time with the girls.  I can't wait till my trip to Brian's.

Alpiner, you did a good job!

Almost time to go to dinner. Have a good memorial day. Wish I could put flowers on my parents grave, but can't as it is in Indy.  Sharon

I'm in the thick, straight hair club, too.  My cutting lady has to thin it almost every three weeks...it's simply impossible to deal with, otherwise.  I, too had it long when I was in my 30s, but it got impossible to deal with and I've been short every since.  I tried to let it grow a bit these pandemic days...but earlier this week, I told her to cut it back short.  I just can't deal with a curling iron with my shoulder pain.  Now, I can get out of bed and brush it and I'm good to go.

A quiet weekend for me.  I hope to get my June bills taken care of ....auto license tags, house insurance, estimates for Uncle Sam and Aunt Kim (our governor...Kim Reynolds).June is an expensive month for me.   :knuppel2:

Friday night I was sad to learn another of our former bridge group has dementia.  Her husband passed away a few months after Ray, and MaryAnn had difficulties coping on her own.  Her girls had her lovely home up for sale and, like other properties here these days, sold quickly.

Stay healthy, Buddies!

Beautiful Memorial Day here, and I even got a walk to town in.  (1 mile roundtrip), so a good way to end May.  Temp was in mid 60s, so pleasant for a walk with a light jacket. VERY quiet, except for the Legion which was getting ready to go to Cemetery for service, and bikers there who are a subgroup within the Legion.

I did get my checks written for June stuff that I can't do on auto pay, and I'll mail those tomorrow when I do my grocery shopping.

Stay healthy and safe,

jane

A beautiful day here today, too. Sunshine and temp in the upper 70s. To warm up lots more and rain later in the week.

The girls and I went out to brunch yesterday, and then Kate and Jean headed for home. Y'all may have seen some photos on Facebook.

Hope the upcoming week is good for you.

We had a lovely day yesterday. We took a lunch ordered from the dining rm. down to the lake and had a little picnic and watched the ducks and geese and talked to a few people who came by. It was in the 70's too. It's nice to have the lake in such close proximity to our villa.

Mary, sounds like you had a nice day with the girls. Your weather is almost the same as ours these days.

Jane, John takes care of our bills these days, but I keep an eye on things to make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Most things are on auto-pay for us too. That's a shame about your bridge friend. For some reason, there was no Memorial Day observation here this year. There was last year.  Considering the WWII vets we have living here as well as probably Korean & Vietnam, it seems a shame.  I'm going to ask about it.

I have bridge this afternoon. Hope I get the same partner as last week! And the same kinds of cards!

Hi to all. Sharon

jane

Mary....what a great weekend for you and your girls!

Sharon...how nice to be able to pick up food to go and enjoy a picnic by your lake.

Beautiful here again, too.  I moved my body out and took my mile walk and then came home to shower and eat breakfast.

I need to dry my hair and then mail my $$ to the feds and state and for my license tags, and get some groceries.

I am still tying to take care of a few health problems. Lots of testing. I am reading but hope back to normal soon.
Jane. I have not figured out how one can make the print larger by holding down Ctrl and spinning on mouse wheel. This is on my desktop. Windows 10. How can one type?
Havn't we had some weird weather past few weeks. Hope you had nicer while family visiting.
Glad to see everyone seem to be enjoying getting out a little more. Some not wearing masks.
JeanneP

jane

Jeanne...good to see you posting here.  The weather here sure has been weird, but it seems to have stabilized now and I feel much better.  I'm one of those who has forsaken the mask, unless the place requires it.  None of our businesses do now.  I understand people may have conditions which makes them want to wear one, and that's fine.  Those who have chosen no shot have made their choice.

The control and moving mouse wheel forward is for reading only in places where the font is too small to read.
It doesn't control when you're posting or writing.  You'll need to set your font preference for that in your settings.

The weather was great when the Armstrong clan of men and one woman descended to be busy worker bees.  Having the 4 of them doing things got my list finished in time to enjoy a meal on a deck overlooking the whitewater park and time at the Brewery.

Another beautiful day here...mid 70s now but to get much hotter by the weekend.  So, I need to get my walking shoes on and hit the sidewalk.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good late morning all...we have had a little rain...making mosquitoes bad to try and sit out on deck...Jeanne. Good to see you...I'm still having a hard time getting my BP controlled..the Dr says it's anxiety...he may be right....they are having lots of illegals coming over..yesterday at the HEB I shop at...cops was chasing a truck with 25 in it..bailed out at HEB and ran in the store..with law and border patrol chasing them...think I may shop curb side...Hi Jane..Mary..Sharon...did Marlyin get moved? If this print is to small to read..I apologize...going through the steps as yall advised

jane

Curbside sounds like a good idea, Darlene.

I didn't last long on my walk...too hot for me.  I got a late start ... tired from all my running around yesterday.   :coolsmiley:

Maybe time to set up the hoses and give the plants a drink.

Jane

Darlene, that must have been scary. Curbside sounds like a good idea.

Jeanne, glad to see you post, but sorry you've been having health problems. Hope they get them taken care of soon.

Jane, it's supposed to be 80 today, but didn't feel like it when I took Bunny out for her walk at noon.  For some reason, I've been freezing today even with the temp set at 77.  I took my thyroid, so that shouldn't be it.

My cleaning girl didn't come today. I presume she'll come tomorrow, but they didn't call me.

My bridge was good yesterday, but not as good as last week. I won at our table anyway and got the $2!  I was about to run out of quarters, so good that I won again. (We each put in 50 cents)

Our 60th anniversary is next Thursday and we were trying to find a good restaurant, but they are all in uptown Charlotte and we both get so stressed out going there, that we decided we really didn't need a special meal, especially since we're going to Brian's the day after, so John said he'd bring home some flowers and wine and brie cheese and French bread to have all week before our anniversary.  Hard to believe, it's been 60 years.

Darlene, I think Marilyn is moving the 25th or 26th.

All the news here. Have a nice day.  Sharon
[/b]

maryz

Happy Anniversary, Sharon.  John died just shy of our 60th (in 2015). He used to laugh and say he'd been married all his life. Of course, we did marry young, too.

Good to hear from you, Jeanne. Hope your health stuff can get taken care of soon.

Darlene, those Texas mosquitoes are vicious! I remember them well. I loved the curbside pickup - worked well for me while I was still getting some groceries. My BP has been the lowest I can remember in the time since my heart surgery and new meds. I can't tell you what all the meds are, but whatever it is, it's working well for me.  Good luck.

jane, glad you got all that good help. It was great last weekend when my girls were here. Margaret and Jean finished hanging stuff on the walls, while Kate was setting me up with a Hulu(?) box and showing me how to use it (although I haven't yet).

Happy Wednesday, Buddies!

Good Hot morning here.  It's to be a "sizzling" weekend here with temps in the 90s.   ::)

Happy 60th, Sharon and John.

Mary...glad you got all your "stuff" up on the walls.

I went over to the hospital for a long overdue blood draw...and because the 6 month limit on the order was over May 31, she had to get a renewal...and in the process, the renewal lady apparently got distracted, and so my wait got longer and longer.  I asked again about it and someone else jarred the renewal lady and I finally got to the lab.  I'm very much dreading it may put me in the diabetes group, so I've been researching endocrinologists and found one who is the daughter of the kidney doc Ray saw.  She comes here once or twice a month for appts, so if it comes to that, I have a name in mind.  Masks are still required there and a "check-in check" though Lab Lady said that was ending in 2 weeks.  She didn't know about the masks.

Cleaning lady coming today and I have stripped the beds but she'll put the clean sheets on and then do the tidying up that's needed.

Sprinkler is going out front and then I'll move it around the house.  VERY dry here and no signs of decent rain.

Stay safe!

Good late morning..we are being blessed with rain and cooler temps...Happy 60 year Sharon and John..I had 54 with mine until he passed...good years..Mary it's good your girls are helping get your stuff done...Jane hope your lab # come out good...always dread mine..Hi to Jeanne and Shirley...better grab lunch

Marilyn

Hello everyone, still working on getting this packed. The Furry friend is going to have a farewell luncheon for me at the Mexican restaurant that I like. even though I am not longer a member

SharonE

Jane, I hope your #'s are good. Diabetes isn't good. My dad and brother were both insulin dependent, but I've dodged the bullet so far.

Mary, glad you got all your things hung.  It's sad that John and Ray both passed so soon.

Darlene, don't remember your husband's name, but sad for you too.

Glad your cleaning girl came, Jane. Mine did too. We had some rain today and supposed to have a lot later this evening and night. About 80 and getting humid, of course, with the rain.

Marilyn, just saw your post. How nice that the Furry Friends are hosting a luncheon for you.  Enjoy!  Is Freckles invited? And Millie?

No other news here. Sharon

Marilyn

Sherry no Freckles or Millie in the restaurant. although freckles has been there before. A new photo taken this morning of Millie snuggling up to Freckles on facebook.
