jane, I'm surprised, too, that they don't have someone to fix it quickly.  But the 1st and 2nd floors are the only ones that have no other elevator choice - and all these apartments are independent living, so I guess that's why they can get by with it.  But, it'll be brought up at the next residents' meeting.  And all of us have access to outside without stairs or elevator.

Glad you're getting some "me" time.  Caregivers usually don't do that often enough.  And my potter friends love that you're buying work directly from them.

Wow, Mary, that really stinks to have your elevaator out. So glad you're on the first floor and that they will bring you your meals in this situation.

Jane, I'm sure it's nice to have quiet after all the caregivers and company you've had.  Good for you going to get a pedicure. I get them about once a month in the summer because I wear sandals all the time, but I don't get manicures unless I'm going somewhere special.  I did 2 loads of laundry too and will do 2 more tomorrow. Then I will be finished.

I went and picked up 2 RX's. I asked the cardidologist to prescribe potassium instead of telling me to eat bananas. They don't sit well on my stomach and are high caloried.  I also went across the road to Home Goods that I hadn't been to. It's not as nice as the one several miles from here, but still has a lot of interesting things. I also stopped at Wild Birds for food and found out I could set up an account for $25 and get 15% off of everything I buy as well as a gift of a suet feeder and the suet for it. After that, I was too tired to go to any of the other stores.  They have a lot of discount stores there which I like.

Jane, your pottery sounds nice. Periodically our Pottery Club has a sale of their items and some of them are really pretty.

The forecast severe thunder storms are just starting here at 5 PM. I hope we don't have any hail.  It was 90 the past 2 days and will continue that temp all week. 48% chance of rain tomorrow... I hate when we are going to church.

I just talked to Melanie. She's been on FB and WWF half the day, so I decided she was bored.  She said it was raining all day. She gets her staples out on Wed and maybe some input on tx recommended by the doctors.  I just can't get her off my mind.

I have a lamb couscous meal in the crockpot, so we will eat well tonight. It is a moroccan dish that I discovered in France and love. It includes squash, eggplant, tomatoes, lamb, garlic and lots of spices. You serve it over the couscous. Yum!

Have a nice weekend.  Sharon

Surprised also that your place doesn't have better service when it comes to breakdowns. Suppose the had fire. Going to be interested at the meeting. Older people will be questioning this.

I keep thinking I would be looking at some of the nice retirement places we have here. Ju getting to hard getting help now and I am not into doing things myself anymore. Got my roof 6 weeks ago but one area had a leak around a pipe. Had to really get on them after calling 4 times about it. Got demanding yesterday morning and they were out in a hour. Hard being nice anymore.i have to get my loud lancashire accent out and it seem to work.

Hot and sticky here today. I need to get out of my casual things I am wearing and go to store.i need to find some new sandles.

Going to try and find a painter who can also jet wash porch. Last one never got ack to me yet.

I got up at 5 AM to go to the bathroom and could hardly walk. Fortunately had the walker nearby, but couldn't go elsewhere to get what I needed. Glad John got up early so I could have him bring me all the things I needed. Obviously, I didn't go to church. Have a dr's appt tomorrow. Think I will have to cancel it. I've taken 2 Tramadol and 2 Tylenols already today. Can't take more. I have ice on it now, but it still is extremely sore and difficult to walk on.  Have no idea what caused it. Fine at bedtime.  I may have to have the knee replaced sooner than I had planned.

I'm ready for a retirement center too, but John isn't.

Hope everyone is having a good day and staying cool.  Ssharon

maryz

Jeanne, I agree about the lack of service.  But the two floors that don't have access to another elevator have access to the outside through ground level doors in case of an emergency.  It's still not a good situation.

Sharon, I'm SO sorry about your knee.  It does sound like you've reached the point of replacement.  Can you get in to see your orthopedist tomorrow?

Good evening, Buddies.  I went to SS and church this morning and came home right after church.  I had lunch, cleaned up the kitchen, took a walk, and just loafed around the rest of the afternoon except for putting the 2 trash cans down on the street for tomorrow's pick up.

My TV went on the fritz today and I haven't been able to get it to work.  I'll have to call a young man who has helped me with computer problems before and hopefully he'll give me a suggestion about what I need to do.  I've not been able to watch anything on TV all day!  It looks like I'll have to buy a new TV.

It's already bedtime so I'm just going to say I hope Every Buddy has had a nice day.  I'll be back here tomorrow!

Sue

Sue, SO glad to see you back.  Where have you been for the past few days?  You've been missed.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  Mary, I've been here and tried to post, but several times when all the posts are down at the bottom of the page, the website doesn't let me move to the next page or post under the last post.  It's VERY frustrating.  I've had problems with posting quite a bit if the last post is at the bottom of a long page.  When I'm trying to post, the site sends me all the way back to the first page which has Pat's picture--and it doesn't let me post here!

I hope every Buddy is having a nice morning and all is well.  I've put the trash cans out and the men have been here and picked up one of the barrels, but the second one is still down there.  When it gets here, I'll bring it up the driveway and will be OK until next Monday.

Jane, I hope this morning is a good one for Ray and you.  Keep us posted--thoughts and prayers for continued improvement from here.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sorry y'all are having problems.  I have no idea what might be causing that.  I haven't had anything like that. Good luck.

Good morning everyone. Today I m going to get my nails  done, that is my agenda for today. I do have to go to Walmart to buy some more ground turkey and some giblets for Freckles food that I prepare.

I am still waiting for the hospital to call me about sceduling the ultrasound of that swollen Lymph node and womens imaging to call about my Mammogram.

Next week I am to take one of Keith's cats to the vet for teeth cleaning.

My knee is a little better this AM, but am still using the walker and not comfortable with it.

I guess I will have to cancel bridge Wed because going to the bathroom is too far for me from where we play. I do well to make it to the BR here in the house.  I cancelled my urology appt for today too.  What a pain.

Mary, hope they get your elevators fixed asap.

Marilyn, enjoy your new manicure.

Jane, I hope all is well with you and Ray.

No new news from Melanie. Maybe I'll find something out after her Wed. appt.

All for now. Sharon

maryz

Sharon, sorry your knee is still so bad.  Do you have a Roll-a-tor walker, with four wheels?  or the older kind, with no wheels, or just two on the front legs?  I have both and use them both.  The Roll-a-tor is much easier to use, but is harder for me to fold up and get in the car. When I have to deal with getting it in=and=out of the car myself, I use the aluminum more-easily-folded one. The Roll-a-tor is, I understand, much more expensive (I was given mine), but IMO, it's definitely worth it.

Marilyn, I do love getting my mani/pedi.  Enjoy yours!

Sharon...hope you got some relief for your knee.

Hi to Sue, Mary, Darlene, Jeanne, Marilyn, Joy

Ray had doc appt and she gave us several months of Januvia samples when she asked what it cost us to buy it.  She said docs now say an A1c for people over 80 can be 8.  She said we don't need to worry about keeping those BS readings low...too low and he can fall and become confused.  She said the bad effects of diabetes aren't going to be a problem for someone already over 80. In Ray's case, the Cancer will be the determining factor to his lifespan.

Tomorrow he has a port blood draw and then we're off to Cedar Rapids to do some "normal" stuff....shopping and maybe eating out somewhere.  I will take a couple tanks of oxygen in the back of the car, of course.

SCFSue

Good morning, Jane and Every Buddy looking in.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but will get dressed for bridge at the retirement center shortly.  Libba will pick me up today.  I am hosting the Wednesday bridge club tomorrow at my house which means getting out the card tables today and setting up.  I'm still looking for a sub for tomorrow--which is a Royal pain!  Libba has other plans for tomorrow, so she's out as a sub as are 2 other reliable subs.  I've been calling people in hopes of finding another, but so far, no luck.

When I was out for my morning walk yesterday, Tim came by to do some paperwork with me and he drove around the block to pick me up so he could get back to his regular activities.  I was surprised to see him but glad to get the paper work finished.

Jane, I'm glad that Ray is feeling well enough to go out  with you while doing errands.  He is probably happy to get out and enjoys the ride with you.  I hope he has a good day today.

Not much else to report today.  I'll be back tomorrow briefly as I'll be busy getting ready for bridge here!  Have a nice day, every buddy.

Sue

SharonE

Hi everyone.  Jane, I'm glad the low BS isn't a problem now and great on the free meds.  I'm glad both of you are getting out tomorrow to do something not medically related.

Sue I hope you have good cards both today and tomorrow.  Good to get the paper work done.

Mary, I have a borrowed aluminum folding walker with 2 wheels and 2 tennis balls.  :D I have seen the other kind. Ms Frances had one with a seat and very light-weight. Since, hopefully, I won't need a walker long term, I don't think I will get another one.

I am back from an appt with my physiatrist.  He did recommend the new improved back stimulator if MC will approve of it. He also looked at my knee and said there was nothing to be done other than replace it. The stem cell injections have to have some cartilage to work with, and I don't.  He also consulted on the pain I have in my right low back and recommended dry needling and physical therapy for it, as he thought it was more muscle than structure.  He wrote the Rx for that and a letter to my pain dr. about the back stimulator.  So I felt it was a good appt.  John took me and then I got a wheel chair. However the pain is about half what it was Sunday. I took 3 Tramadols Sunday and was still in pain.

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I'm not dressed yet, but have cleaned up the kitchen, prepared the coffee pot for the bridge club, put out cups, spoons, etc. and need to finish my morning e-mails so that I can get dressed and finish setting out snack food for those who like that.  I had to find a sub for today's game and luckily a friend in my other bridge club is going to sub for me.

Jane, I hope your trip to Cedar Rapids is a good one and Ray is feeling well enough to enjoy getting out of the house.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy!
Sue

Sue...enjoy bridge!

Sharon...glad you had a good doc appt and got him to get in touch with pain doc and PT people.

It was good to get out yesterday and Oncologist was pleased we'd done that.  We were both tired last night, of course.  He's over at chemo now so I have a couple hours to get things done here...vacuuming, laundry started, etc.

Monday we now have to go to kidney specialist since his creatine jumped up since last week.  It's been at that level before, but onc thinks he needs to see kidney doc.  That's a trip to Dbq on Monday.

It's hot and humid here...thank heavens for AC!

I'm now emailing with Frigidaire over a dehumidifier that's giving off a goofy code that says it's not plugged into regular outlet or is   within the range of 41 °F (5 °C) to 96 °F (32 °C).  UH....YEAH, it is...and not quite 2 years old. I asked in my email to support if I should buy a different brand that will last longer than less than 2 years. :knuppel2:  Bad Jane!!

SharonE

Sue, glad you got things set up for bridge.  I couldn't find a sub, so turned it over to the gal who runs our club. She usually can find someone.

I've talk to Ortho people and they are going to set up a time for my TKR and call me back. I also start PT on my back on Monday. My knee is somewhat reasonable today, although I'm still using the walker.

John's playing bridge and will Th L& Fri.   Then he leaves Monday.  He hopes that between the games he has scheduled and the tournament that he will achieve Ruby life master. That's #4.  That will probably be his last level because of his age and the # of pts needed for the next level.

Jane, I hope the kidney isn't reacting to the chemo. Fingers crossed that it will go down. Glad you had a good day yesterday and hope Ray's chemo doesn't make him feel too bad.  It took me 24 hrs to recover, but of course, different chemo for different cancers.

I hope to hear from Melanie tonight after she sees the doctor.

Hi to all. I'm kind of in a funk today. I'm just tired of being sick, seeing doctors, and then worrying over Melanie.

I did see a good movie by Nicholas Sparks called "The Choice" last night. It's a good movie.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, glad you've decided to 'bite the bullet' and get your knee done.  I know the process is long and painful, but hopefully will be much improved when it's over.  Good luck to John.
I hope he achieves his goals.  I enjoy playing duplicate, but the acquiring of MP has never been my goal - just to play well. Thinking about Melanie, too

jane, glad Ray's chemo is doing well, and I hope there isn't an issue with his kidneys.  Loved your letter to Frigidare.  I've done a few of those over the years, too.

Sue, good luck with your bridge club.

The weather is lovely and hot here this week.  No rain in the forecast, but my flowers are all doing well - loving all the rain we have had, plus the summer sun now.

The elevator is still out.  They tell me the problem is that it is old (the building is 35 years old) and they don't make the parts for it anymore.  The company is looking to find the part they need somewhere.  At least that's the story I'm getting.  They'd better figure something out.  If something breaks on the other elevator, they are REALLY in trouble.

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!

Well it is raining here on the southern Oregon coast.today, but Freckles and I went for a walk anyway, her second walk of the day.We usually do 4 walks throughout the day.

Tomorrow is our monthly Furry Friends luncheon and general meeting. This month we are going to the Pancake Mill. They always have such great food and are very crowded, However Our reservations was made a month ago and we doing have to wait to be seated.

Keith has been "resting" on the sofa most of the day, except for breakfast and lunch then back to the sofa. My day started ad soon as I hit the floor. I won't go into all that  have done today,I don't want to wear y;'all out just reading about my day so far. It is now 2:04pm and I am relaxing, not even making a big meal for supper, just a pizza and a glass of wine will suffice. Apothic has a new blend out called Inferno It was aged in whiskey barrels, and a limited  batch. Just though we would try it out.

SCFSue

Good almost afternoon, Buddies.  I slept late, spent most of my morning cleaning up the tables and chairs needed for yesterday's bridge club and finally got out for my walk at 10:45--which was much too hot!  I'm glad I did get that in, though.  I have all the dessert dishes and glasses in the dish washer, so hope it will finish by the time I've had my lunch.  I'm reading a good book I'd like to finish before Eddie picks me up for the library tomorrow and then Kroger shopping.  I need to make my grocery list, too.

Jane, as always I'm hoping each day for Ray and you is better.  I wish you good luck with your message to Frigidaire.  I'm afraid today's corporations don't appreciate their customers like they did in the past.  They seem to prefer raising prices!

Sharon, I can't remember if you told us what a TKR is, but I hope it is improving.  I hope today is better for you and that you hear from Melanie soon.  Do you think John will decide to quit playing tournament bridge or find another level to continue?  Keep us posted about Melanie.

Mary, I'm hoping for a shower this afternoon, but so far it looks unlikely.  When I went outside to check on my tomato plants (just 2!) and my green beans in my little garden bed, the tomatoes were still OK (only 2 tiny tomatoes on the largest one) and all the green beans had been chewed down to the bare stalks!)  I'm thinking rabbits were probably the culprits.  I don't know why they didn't attack the tomatoes.

Marilyn, it sound like you have an interesting day planned.  I hope the luncheon is yummy and you enjoy your friends.  What does Keith do while you are out for the afternoon?  ENJOY!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy!

Very hot and humid here this morning...90 and we got a short walk in before the gnats and humidity did us in.  I've been doing laundry and had a pedicure at 2:00....and the very black clouds rolled in and it really rained hard.  I'm home now, but it's still stormy out there and the TV keeps giving severe thunderstorm warnings for various counties around us.

Have a great Thursday evening.

Jeanne, our Residents' meeting is next Wednesday (the first Wednesday of every month). They got it fixed yesterday evening (I think).  I still haven't used it - will do so tonight when I go up to supper.

Other things going on around here, too.  They've taken up the carpet in this hall, and are to finish installing the new carpet today.  Also, the building and decks are being pressure-washed.  They've moved all my potted and hanging plants into my "sitting room" so they won't be killed by the solution. I'm going to be out this afternoon playing bridge, but I'd love to watch that process.

Hugs to ALL the Buddies!

Good morning, Mary, Jane, and all Buddies looking in.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, and dressed to go to Kroger with Eddie.  He'll be here about 9:30. We'll go to the library first, then to Kroger.  I need to make my grocery list before he gets here.

After our trip to Kroger and I get the groceries put away, I hope to spend the afternoon reading inside.  It's way too hot to work outside.  I guess I have visiting rabbits, though.  The green beans I planted in my garden have been chewed half way down the stalks! I don't think the chipmunks are the culprits.  They live under my deck, but I never see them in my garden.  The last time I had rabbits several years ago, I came into my den to use the computer and a large female rabbit was sitting under the computer desk.  Later on that day I found new born baby rabbits inside the house--most were dead.  Yuck!

I hope all Buddies are feeling well this morning.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy!

Lots of storms here overnight and this morning.  I'm home from a haircut and quick grocery run between thunder/lightning/high winds.  Very hot and humid!  I've got flashlights ready and extra portable oxy tanks in case we lose power.

Have a peaceful Friday.  I'm going to join Sue and read today and so our bank business online.

Just went from to much rain to really hot weather . It is in low 90 st his week. I got a early start today a yesterday outing and got over heated. Went and picked up my laundry this morning at 9 am. Then doe to Walmart for few things. Spray paint as one but doubt it will be used.stilltrying to find a painter to o it all. Needs jet washed first.

Maryz. That is good. Sounds like your place getting thing done. We had 2 of the ones in my town. I thought really nice ones.  Alway showing on tv and having open house but state put a big find on them last summer for not keeping thing up. Some company have come into town and bought 5
retirement buildings.

Like you Sue, I think  I am in for the day and reading after a short nap. I tried that yesterday and got 3 robot calla on phone and someone one knocking on the door.  Never fails.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, and plan to dress and get my morning walk in after I finish posting.  Eddie took me to the library and to Kroger yesterday, so I have books to read this week.  I have already finished 2 of them--when it is as hot as it has been, I don't spend a lot of time outside.

Jeanne, it is going to be really hot today, so as soon as I finish here I am going to get dressed and get my daily walk in.  I hope to get back inside before it's unbearably hot!

Jane, it's hot and humid here this morning.  So I want to get outside and get my walking done before it's unbearable.  I hope Ray is feeling better this morning and is able to get outside if it's not too hot in your neighborhood.

Mary, it sounds like your facility is cleaning up and making things nice for you.  Did your bridge game yesterday go well?   We're in for another scorcher here this morning, so I need to get dressed and get my walk in soon.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
