Marilyn.
Now Here in my area I believe that just so family can get a break the City nursing home. Most people there pay by giving their SS etc. Been here for 130 year but now its quite nice. Lot of people I know now live in there and they have a building where if a person has a problem like your husband and yourself has. There is a daily bus that comes by me. Picks up 3 seniors for 6 hours a day. They live it home with family. But if say just a wife or husband. I believe a person can be admitted in there for a week. I know that Medicare covers part of that. Are they charge just a % of what it cost for the people to be in there full time.its a good system. Check it out for yourself.

That's good info for Marilyn, Jeanne.

I missed all of today's posts except Jeanne, so can't comment on them.

Today was John's important eye appt, so we were gone much of the day. It was great news though. John's good eye's optic nerve has been stable for 4 years and his bad eye has been stable since 2018 when they removed his cataract and put in a stent. I think John misunderstood when the dr said he might go blind. I suspect he was talking about his bad eye which only has 8% vision anyway. John has trouble understanding or hearing certain consonants in spite of his hearing aids. I had to drive home since they dilated his eyes. It was probably 15-20 miles.

I found out that they have mobile grooming for dogs that come here. That will be wonderful. She's a ragmop again. So tomorrow I will have to get the name and # of the groomer. I also need to get the name of a good vet, just in case. However, she is so much more energetic since we moved here and she gets her long walkies which she hadn't been getting since I've had trouble walking, but John is taking over that now.

I was so tired when we got home, I fell asleep about 8:00 and didn't wake up till 10:00 when John woke me. Now I can't sleep.

I hope everyone is okay and that Jeanne's comment about Marilyn referred to respite care or care while she goes to her son's.Fill me in if anything important was posted. Sharon

Good morning, Sharon and Every Buddy looking in this morning.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen and would like to get outside for my morning walk.  However, the Molly Maids cleaners are coming to clean and I need to wait for them to arrive.  I hope they get here soon.

Not much else going on here this morning.  I'm hoping the Molly Maids will get here soon so that I can get my morning walk finished!

Have a nice day Every Buddy.

Good cloudy morning from the upper midwest!  Storms to come later today and tomorrow, too.

Sharon...good idea on mobile groomer and hurrah on John's eyes.

Jeanne...good idea for Marilyn.

Sue...hope you got your walk in.

My mowing guy came yesterday and trimmed my honeysuckle hedge, as I'd asked him to do.  It'd gone nuts with all the rain...but he's got it nicely trimmed and it's not looking like a hedge gone wild.

Nothing else exciting here...what a world we're living in now.  I did see one of my bridge ladies in the WalMart parking lot...seems the only place people see each other!  :2funny: ...and so chatted a bit with her.

Stay cool, safe, and healthy,

jane

I just can't make up my mind as to what to do today. Slept about 10 hours last night. Some good dreams.Think I am doing to much sleeping. Would be walking more but just to hot. would have to be up by 6am. Can only do that if going on a trip.Wish I could plan one now. Think it is going to be awhile.
Now the big thing in town are the Schools. should they open or not. I swear with the people getting to meeting on everything seem to just argue. Virus not doing to bad around here now but still its here. Lots of young now coming up Positive. Parents are some for and some against. Glad I don't have that around me.
So many problems with the Masks or no Masks in the stores. Many fights. NOw the paper was saying its voted to the store owners to handling. Was in big Meijers yesterday and sort of 70 with and 30% not wearing. I use to love shopping but now hating to go in. Sort of gives me a creeping feeling. Masks bother me and can't make up mind as to what I wan't to get. No one is following the feet showing which way to go. Its hard as use to just knowing where thing are and heading for them. Some people give a dirty look when in isle wrong way. And 6 ft apart never has worked when stores busy. So soon they will be tearing the foot markers up.
Rules seem to be hard to follow in the USA. Never had them before. Other countries seem to be much better. That is why the Pandemic is doing better there.

They are now ask for no children, but seems every women in there yesterday had 2 or 3 with them. Still running around. Walmart is really bad.
But just has we Brits were taught to do.  (JUST CARRY ON )My Friends and family over there keep telling me that.
Think will just fix lunch and try to skip a nap and maybe head for the big Mall by me that has very little in it. Walk in there. Library is open but just so many at a time allowed in. I need to make copies but will wait until during the week. They try to give people just a hour in at a time. Another thing hard to keep check on that. People enjoy their AC. The snack bar is closed down.

Good Morning Buddies. I think I might go to the Farmers Market with a friend this  Morning I just read that the nursing home where my Hospice Patient is has 2  tested positive for the virus in staff members  and two hospital worker as well who had traveled out of state. Our county has had 57 cases with 3 active. All is well here a neighbor friend stopped by yesterday evening for  a little conversation we social distanced round the dining room table.

jane

Marilyn....that's the number for my County, except 11 are active and isolated at home.

It was a delightful 68 degrees this morning after a lot of thunder and lightning last night.  I don't know that we got any actual rain.  More to come in a few hours.  BUT, I did get my lazy bones out and walked a little less than a mile.  It's been a long time since the temps were where I could do that.  More heat and humidity to come this week.

Patricia is coming down tomorrow for a couple of days.  Her daughter-in-law went into labor last night at 2:15 am, so the wait for little boy is on.

I see WalMart will require ALL wear masks starting next week.

Stay safe and healthy, Buddies!

jane

SharonE

I get so tired of people arguing about the masks. If the CDC says to wear them, then everyone should wear them. They aren't particularly comfortable, but it's no big deal.  My PT has to wear a mask, gown, and head shield now. He isn't happy, but he's following the rules.

Other than drs, and the main bldg here, I don't go anywhere. It's way to hot to walk. I do take Bunny out in  the front yard, but that's all.

Glad all of you are staying safe too. Sharon

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up for a while, cleaned up the kitchen, and Tim came over to bring me some things for my fridge.  We visited for a while and then he went back home.  I'm going to walk down the hill soon and back up.  That will be my outside chore for the day.  I want to do some trimming of my overgrown sidewalk later today, too.

I hope Every Buddy is feeling well this morning.  Have a nice day and try to stay cool!

SIL came this morning and did my yard. Looks so nice. It was great getting up to temps in the 60s for awhile. I opened up the house but now had to close up and put the AC on again
Everytime my yard get done I feel like I can take the day off even though I don't help with it.
Today I tried again to find out about me driving on my License that ran out in April. Tried the State again. Got no place only push button this then that. Typed a question and came up No 174 in line.  I finely called the Police dept here in town. Said if you stop me for something and ask for my license and show expired what you going to do. So he said Nothing . Have extended them until OCT 1st. Told him going to just put it away and worry later.
Jane. Still need to get my sticker to put on Plate.Unless go out can't do that either. One reason being that I now found out that with Seniors (ours is $175) if you tax report for 2018 shows final income at under $24000. then can get sticker for $25. Both those women did it. So I have the women at the Senior Centre  checking it out.  As SS amount does not figure in on your earnings then. I just show my Min. distribution on my annuity and interest on couple CD which did not come to make up anywhere near the $25Grand will hold off buying mine until I find out. This is just for This year and Next.
Spent all our time on paper work or phone anymore try to keep thing straight. I though I had my Estate in Order 2 years ago but now its really messed up.
JeanneP

jane

Sharon...glad you're staying in and safe.

Jeanne...here people make appts with the local treasurer's office where they now do the driver's license test for eyes etc.
We used to have people who came weekly from the State and they had to be among the rudest, nasty people ever.  Legislature finally wised up and put it in the county treasurer's office.  Much more efficient and local people who are not rude.

I agree about feeling better when the yard...and, for me, the hedge is neat and tidy.    :2funny:

Sue...glad Mr. Tim came by and hope you get out for your walk.

I've taken to keeping a mask in the car and one in my purse.  I'm not in the habit yet of putting it on as I get out of my car.  Soon that'll be second nature, I assume.

I'm so glad I'm no longer teaching and don't have to be in that limbo of what will happen come August.

And now medical folks are saying this fall and winter will be worse than anything we've had so far.  I feel so sorry for people who have sick loved ones at home and are trying to cope and keep them well.  It was hard enough last summer with keeping cold and flu from Raymond as I took him to chemo here in town and down in Cedar Rapids, plus the onc doc appts.

Keep safe and healthy,

jane

SharonE

Talking about drivers' licenses. We have to get the Real ID license for North Carolina, since ours is for South. We also have to change plates on the car. I don't know if we will have to pay vehicle tax then or later. We got a bill from SC and I told them we had moved 5/15, so they said, oh, okay you don't owe anything then. I couldn't believe we did because we got a refund on last yrs after we sold my car.

No other news here. Sounds like we are all in the same boat, just staying home or doing nothing much. As to the landscaping, after 12 yrs, I just take it for granted. Guess I'm spoiled now.  Take care, everyone. Sharon

Sharon.
Now do you think they would really notice if your address has changed .You are only going from one side Carolina to the other.Same on the Changing plates.
I sometime think some of us people stick to to many rules at times.\
I have seen people here driving on plates from one State and then the moved to Illinois and had the same plates and things  for Texas. Some people dont have to change Drivers License for 10 years. My friend had not had to take a test or anything since leaving college. I am going to just sit back and forget about the darn things until they know what they are doing

Usually you don't take a eye test only when getting new license. Would be nice if our Treasurer did it. Right down the street from me.. They hardly have many in that office. Need more work to do. Maybe give them a call. But if the Police dept says not to worry long as you keep your Drivers Insurance good. Mine is high because of getting the new car.

Every day now in the paper you see accidents with cars and lots say .charged  for have no Auto Insurance. so many now. Last damage to my car. He didn't have any. My old car. Now I make sure I have plenty. I am going to call them though as I have put only 50 miles on my car in 3 months. See if I can get it lowered a little as I doubt we will be doing much traveling for the next year the way things are going.
Lots seem to be getting rude now. Fact I think I am not my old sweet self. Was kidding friend the other day saying.  Nobody had better mess with me right now. I am turning into a 5ft 2 . Tiger.

The cleaning ladies came this AM when I was just finishing my breakfast. They don't tell you when they are coming or what time and are doing minimal work. I have them do the tub & shower and change our bed. I don't know if they will be back today or not.

We have an appt. to get our Dr. license next week. We need to get it changed in order to register to vote. I'm not sure I will vote anyway this year but am sure John will. I just don't like either candidate.

I also have an appt to get my bladder scan & xray next Tues. I've decided to stop the med for an over-active bladder because it charges the ins. co $328 which can add up and put me in the donut hole before the end of the year.

Jane, glad Patricia is coming for a visit. Your family is very supportive. I know what you mean about feeling better when the shrubs and vines, etc are all nicely trimmed.

Sue, nice that you have Molly Maids and Tim to do the things you can't. Stay safe around the maids.

Hi Jeanne, Darlene, Alpiner, Marilyn and all. Not many posts these days--I guess because none of us are doing much.

Wear your masks and stay safe. Sharon

Good morning, Sharon and Every Buddy looking in today.  I've been up, dressed, fixed and ate breakfast and am almost ready to go outside for my down hill walk.  It's 3 long blocks downhill and back up.  I'm OK with it, but the last 3 blocks get me puffing and panting.

I hope Every Buddy looking in is feeling well and has a nice day planned.  Some will be able to sit outdoors and others may just stay inside if the weather is cooler.  Take care Every Buddy and stay cool.

I think that I am going to chance it and go to Kohls today. I need to buy new Bras.bad. Not been in any of the stores sinse  April.
My iPad is going crazy. I spell things right but it keeps changing the words.  I am getting so tired of all technology these days.
Tv nothing on cable at all. I don't have any screaming on yet. Comcast showing nothing like what the tv book showers should be on.  wiFi so slow. I may try calling them.

Seems to be cooler out today. Not as humid.  More rain coming and me still with NY roof leak. Roof has to be dry for 4 days before can put sealing on..  Rain planned for next 5 days.

Maybe now this may help a little with the mask wearing and it pertains to all states not just Mine. As it was left ,now the the stores themselves to take care of problem No calling Police to handle anything. There have been so many fights.

Walmarts did it first. No one will be allowed in Store if not wearing. If in then no items will be rung up for them. No going through the Check your self lanes and Security escorting you out. Now Target doing the same. All large stores So I don't think Kohls, Macy's will not follow. About the small ones in the Malls I don't know. I have not been in Months but people say that a lot of them are not open.. Also have to have mask put on outside not after entering stores.
Now this is how other countries handled things back in early May and it seems to have worked there.
UK was getting as Lax as US after watching what people could get by with here but now over  there, Start July 23 There will be a fine of what here would be $200 (theirs aprox. 140 pounds) first time then more if caught again.
Just have to see how this goes.
Now on My Past Due License and my due July 31 sticker the State of Illinois has now given Extensions until Nov 1st. Saying one reason being the long lines and the hot weather. so I can sit back now.  fact if it gets to that on The Drivers License I can just try to do it for the 2021 year. It needs a Road test so no way would they do it right now anyway.
Everything is so mixed up. going to be a lot more accidents, car bashing . running lights anything that some people will try to get away with as the police do not seem to be hiding around corners or watching at the moment. So I will just keep to my usual 5 mile radios for all I need.

Good Morning, Buddies!

It's heating up again with oppressive humidity.  Hmmm, it must be July in Iowa!

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up and dressed to go outside, but so far haven't made it past my door!  I want to get my walk finished before it gets unbearably hot here today.  I have a new mask to wear and hope I won't see anyone else walking when I do.  I'm not expecting Tim to come over this morning as he stopped by yesterday to bring me some more food.  He and Kris probably have plans for today.

Take care Every Buddy.  And Try to stay cool!

It's to be in the mid 90's all week here. John doesn't mind it, but I do and stay in.

My PT didn't show up at 11:00 today, so I called him, but had to leave a message. No answer yet.  The cleaner that came yesterday came back today and changed my bed and cleaned the baths.

I've been trying to check in with my friends & family via phone, just to have someone to talk to. Yesterday, I spent all afternoon printing out and finding photos on the computer to send to my sil. She was so sad that she didn't have any Ede family pictures. Her husband's sister moved her to IA and threw out lots of things Millie treasured. I hope these will make her happier.

My dil has taken over all the genealogy for our family and has set up a special private area on FB for us all to share. Over the years I have given her all kinds of gen. info on the families and when we moved, I completely emptied my files of gen, including pictures, etc and sent them to her, so she has plenty to keep her busy during the pandemic. Her boys are 18 and 21, so they don't need watching and care, except for having lots of food available!  The older one is going to an advanced AF camp this summer. In fact may be there now. He will be a Senior this fall.

Nothing else going on. Sounds like everyone is staying home or walking. Jane, have fun with Patricia.

Oh, Jeanne, do you wear mastectomy bras? If so, I can give you the name and phone # of an off-shoot of Penneys that sells them. It's called Jodee's. I think Jane uses them too.

Stay safe, everyone, especially Darlene in TX! Sharon

JeanneP

Sharon.
Now like some of us over the year. Not many now. Well we just always got into your forum even though we never had a Breast Problem. I think now that it is the same with all the forums. People use to stay in the one for Pets etc but that not had any for long time. Lots of people with cats seemed to just talk about them in other places. I know that some people didn't like it and dropped out of S and F. Now me I just buzz through what ever I see people posting in. Read about whatever and if I can add something to it I do. We need people in order to keep S and f going.

I worked 6 years on Family Geneology. Loved doing it. I am they only one in US so all mine is British Isles. I did however find that my Grandparent did live close to Boston from 1889 to 1899 but then returned to England. I have found the grave of his first wife and a baby son in Lowell Mass and visited it twice. Only thing is other that a second cousin (Happens to be of the Gypsy race) very interested in Dad's side and we now are very close. I never had but one cousin growing up. Now I need to get into more of Mothers side. Only thing is none of my children here are interested at all. But will do it anyway. Amazing what one learns.

Good morning, Every Buddy!  I've been up for a while, had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, and looked for the hat I wear when I walk outside.  So far I haven't actually gone outside to start downhill!  I don't usually see anyone else out walking when I'm going down hill.  There are several other people who walk about the same time, but who like to stay on the other side of the street.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

I've been up, had breakfast, dressed, put in a load of laundry (more to come), took Bunny out and fed her, called LazyBoy to see what has happened to the      chair I ordered. They say it will be the end of the month or beginning of Aug.  I ordered it June 1! It's supposed to be made especially for people with lumbar problems, so I hope it helps mine. We have 2 Ecco recliners that are supposed to be good for the back, but I can't sit in them for very long. John loves it though. He thought I was being a spendthrift to buy the new chair, which is very expensive, but I think it is important for me.

Mary, I hope you had a good time at the beach with the baby and other family and that you have a safe drive home. We look forward to hearing about it.

Jeanne, I thought maybe you were one without a BC history, but wasn't sure. Your kids may not be interested in genealogy now, but may appreciate what you've done later. Some people never see the benefit of it, but I think knowing your past ancesters and their stories is important. Only one of my kids are interested plus my dil and some nieces who are just getting on the bandwagon.

No plans for today other than laundry and finishing my book by J L Jance. I actually had read it before but John brought it home and liked it and I got started on it before I realized I'd read it. It's a mystery and good.

Jane, have fun with Patricia. Marilyn, hope all is well with you. Sue, hope you found your hat and got your walk in. Darlene, be careful shopping. TX numbers are scary.

Went to Walmarts at 8am this morning. Usually never go on Sat. Only letting people in and out one door. All barricaded and signs up all over. People all seemed to be wearing masks now. I think they have caught on the the Store Management. Lets see if it works when crowds form.
Already 8 deg. So in the house for me for rest of the day. Going to just be lazy. Not in any mood for any kind of cleaning. Not even taken my laundry to the cleaners this week. Other than sheets and towels I have been hand rinsing things. Wearing just next to nothing around the house in light cotton.
Think now some kind of Virus has hit my Desktop. Windows 10 a mess. Not much I do on any of my Tech stuff right now.
Finely my car getting to the empty mark after 2 months. To hot to stand at the pump and fill it up. Think tyres need a look at also. may be low a little. Not going to far and so wait for a cooler day. Maybe that will be fall who knows .I seem to be just going day to day  now. Use to be I had plans as to what going to do each day of the week. Doubt anyone gets back to having a system...
Watching such as Texas, Florida and couple other places. Sort of scary .The young still seem to not want to listen. Lot In my Texas group. May as well not even talk to them about it.
Wish there was such a company that could come in with a Big Sucks ion Machine and suck all the dust I know is everywhere in the house.. Along with in the Carpets. Should do like Sharon and move on.
Mary . that was a quick trip to the beach. Hope it was worth you having go stay away from your home for the 10 days. Glad all family O.K.
Think will just make some pickles with what SIL brought me the other day. finely found some Apple cider Vin. I don't like White. doesn't this sound exciting....

Safe trip home, Mary!

It's already hot here, but not so horribly humid as yesterday.

Patricia left before 8:00 for the 5 hour drive home, and I managed a very short walk.

Now I'm in for the day. I'm going to read and binge watch a Netflix Hallmark Channel series I really enjoy...The Good Witch.  :coolsmiley:

There's laundry to do, but that may get pushed back to tomorrow.

Numbers are rising here, too.

Jane, I'm also a "Good Witch" fan.  She and her (screen hubby) do a good job with their roles and I enjoy that program.  However, I think I read that the "Good Witch" will be going off for the rest of the summer.  I mostly stick to Hallmark movies.  I remember when the actress playing the "Good Witch" was an actress who played a military role prior to her "Good Witch" role.
