Thanks, Jane and Mary for the imput on the occular migraines. Apparently, John's only lasts 15 mins or so, but hadn't had them for a while. I worry when he has a problem with his eyes.

It was nice to eat in the dining room last night, even at a table by ourselves.Tonight, we're going to try the Italian dining. We also picked up our mail and some books.

They are finally bringing my new Lazy-boy chair today. Can't wait.

Cleaning lady hasn't shown for 3 weeks now and the supervisor is on vacation with apparently no one else in charge or answering the phone! Grrrr.

Tomorrow, we're going to Target to pick up some needed items. That's in the afternoon since PT is in the morning. Who knows the cleaning gal may show up too.

Darlene and Alpiner, I can't imagine living where it is 100 degrees for several days. 90 is my limit.

Stay safe everyone.  Sharon

jane

Im back home, and love being home.  Even 5 hours is a long drive for me these days
!

We saw the sweet baby for a couple hours and what a cutie he is.  Mama and Papa seemed to like the hand knit hats and socks and gift card.  Patricia and I were going out but the place I like is closed Mon and Tues, so we're going to forage here for sandwich stuff.   :coolsmiley:

Darlene  wrote she's getting a Gateway error message.  I hope Thant clears up for her soon.

Jane
Stay safe and healthy.

It's 6:45 pm my time now, and this is the first time today I've been able to get in to the site. Glad it's working now.

Sharon, sorry you've had a glitch with your cleaning crew. I'm sure stuff like that will be out of kilter for us for a while, too. Glad you're getting your new chair.

Our cleaning gal has been working a shift as an RA for the last couple of days. Our Executive Director came around to keep us updated on the situation here. There are several positive cases of COVID in the facility - staff and residents. So far only one resident has been hospitalized, and that was only for two days. Of course, the staff members are not working. I had missed several of the regular staff members and assumed they were in quarantine at home. And, of course, there are some new staff members, too. I certainly hope it doesn't get any worse than this.

jane, glad you had a good trip. Like you, I love the travel, but love getting back home to "my own stuff and space" and to the quiet.  And, of course, that's gotten stronger as I've gotten older.  Imagine that!

The best part of a vacation is getting home! Like Mary said, especially as we get older.

Jane, glad you're home safely. How's your road? I know you loved seeing the baby and I'm sure they loved your knitted items for him.

My chair arrived about noon yesterday and I love it.

PT due in a few mins. Then we'll eat and go to Target to get some things I can't find online, then I have a neurology appt at 2:40. Hope he can improve control of my tremor.

Going to eat at the Mexican place tonight. Italian was great and I got to talk to several other ladies since the room is smaller than the regular dining room.

All for now. Stay safe. Sharon

Good morning...unable to sign in yesterday..seems ok today...not much New for me....should be deep cleaning my house .....mabey 1 room at a time...energy level low...must be the heat.....have great day

Marilyn

Good Morning every Buddy. We will be going to lunch today at the new Mexican place that I went to a couple of weeks ago with friends. We are meeting up with one of the ladies from church. There are 3 of us that text every morning to check on each other. One is going out of town with her husband today so  that leaves two of us to take Keith to lunch.

Keith is getting lost  ore frequently here in the house and is now asking the same question over and over and over again, it drives me crazy to keep answering and explaining things to him so many times.

WE have not been to church in  over a month and  no one has bothered to call to see how we are or if anything is needed. The other two ladies  have not been to church either but they have at least been checked on. One of them has had people come to her house to help her. Oh Well it is what it is. We are fine and I am trying my best to handle everything without any help except  for my lady who comes on Thursday to clean the house and di what every I might need.Which isn't much, I still clean the litter boxes every morning, wash the counter and sweep the kitchen floor if needed. I have a routine every  morning taking care of the animals, litter boxes and counters.

SharonE

Marilyn, I wish I could be there to help you or at least visit. I'm sorry your church isn't being more supportive. Even though we've moved away, I still get calls and letters from members and the pastor. Can't have visitors though. I know it must be tough dealing with someone with Alzheimers or dementia. I'm not usually a big fan of Mexican food, but we went to the Mexican dining last night and had nachos, etc. It was really good. Not too spicy.  Tonight is Italian again.

The neurology DR prescribed a new medicine and referred me to a tremor specialist if it doesn't work. I hope it works. The other things are more invasive.

I was so tired last night after PT, shopping, dr's appt and eating out.

Mary, it sounds kind of scary at your center with so many ill. Stay safe.

Jane, has your niece left? If so, bet you're out walking or shopping.

Sue, don't forget us here in BB's. We want to hear from you everyday or nearly.

I need to do some cleaning today and some paper work. Stay cool and safe.  Sharon

SCFSue

Hi Sharon and Every Buddy looking in this morning.  I've been up, had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen.  I'm expecting Tim to come by sometime this morning to check on my meds and visit for a while.  Yesterday he took me to see my GP and we had a pretty good visit there.

Not much else going on here today.  I have a couple of books started and will continue to read them today.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy

Sue

maryz

Sharon, I hope the new med helps with your tremor

Marilyn, glad you're getting out some. The husband of the couple who come from Texas to spend time with us at the beach has Alzheimer's. I've known these folks since high school, and he remembers me and, of course, recognized a photo of John. But, like you say, he follows his wife around all the time and gets agitated if he can't find her. And, asks the same questions over and over. It's SO hard to be patient when you're dealing with that all the time. I'm glad he had some (at least vaguely) familiar faces and situations to deal with and give her a break by our sharing some of the load. Lots of virtual hugs from Tennessee.

Hi Sue, glad to see you checking in!

Life muddles through here. Our wonderful staff (substitutes and regulars) are working SO hard to keep life semi-normal for the residents here.  And I guess most of the residents are trying to help as much as they can.

Margaret came by yesterday for her weekly drop-off. Left me my mail (bless her - she does throw away the ads, etc.), some yarn, and stuff from the store that I have asked her to get for me.  Plus she keeps me supplied with her home-canned jellies, preserves, and pickles.  :smitten:

She keeps the bird feeders filled, too. She put up a hummingbird feeder when I first moved into this apartment back in March, but yesterday was the first time I've seen one. And there were at least three, buzzing around each other for dominance over the feeder. Such fun to watch them.  The cardinals, finches, sparrows, woodpeckers, etc., seem to be happy to share the regular feeders.

Happy Thursday, Buddies - Stay Healthy!

It's great to see all your posts today.  Patricia drove home Wed. morning.  I've got caught up with my laundry and mail and bills.

Heat and humidity to come, so I'm preparing to just stay indoors.

I'm going to replace the ink in my printer to see if that will get it to print.  Otherwise, I'm going to order a new one online.
I don't use it a lot, but when I need it, I need it.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good morning, Jane and Every Buddy looking in!  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but not much else yet.  I'm feeling OK, but am not up to my usual self.  Tim took me to see my GP yesterday and that went well.  I don't think he'll be over again this morning.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals.Sue, glad your dr's appt went well and that Tim is keeping his eye on you. Hope you feel better.

Mary, it must be so nice to have your daughter nearby!Of course, I haven't had that for years, but would sure like it now. How nice that she takes care of the birds and brings you treats.  I miss my birds.  We had a feeder on the front window but the squirrel kept knocking it down. If we put it on our balcony, they will mess all over it.

Jane, sounds like you are caught up and ready to relax now.

I have had 2 hard days in a row and am hurting a lot. PT to come at 11:00 and I'm really not looking forward to it.Wed, I had PT, shopping, dr's appt, and ate at the club house. Yesterday, I gave up on the cleaning ladies and mopped all the tile, cleaned the baths, and with John's help changed the bed. Then I had a bunch of cards and stuff to get out + dinner at the club.

My dil is using her Covid isolation time to work on the family genealogy. I sent her a whole bunch more stuff when we moved and she is slowly sifting through it and figuring out what she has and doesn't. I finally gave up on it about 10 years ago and Traecy took over and is doing a better job than I. She's a born researcher. I had taken my dad's family back to 1680, but she has taken another branch of it back to about 1600. One of them owned New Jersey before the revolution!! The son retained land there that is still marked and he is buried in the big church with a special plaque. Interesting stuff.

The PT is due now.  Have a good day, everyone and stay safe!

Sharon.
You seem o work harder in your new place than in the previous.. I now use the Covet 19 as a excuse to my self to I WILL DO IT TOMORROW?just way to much heavy cleaning to do. Drapes, carpets etc.
I did go yesterday and bought a new sweeper. Mine was just to heavy. I put it at the end of my drive for FREE PICKUP. Was gone in 20 mins. When I looked.
Find that good way to get rid of stuff. Closer than the drop off place.
Last day for nice weather so think I will head out. Saw the death of a friends son in paper today. 51 sad seeing all these that you saw when first born. No funeral again.
All enjoy weekend
Sharon. You sit down and enjoy your new chair.
JeanneP

jane

Good almost afternoon, Buddies.

Sharon....sad that you aren't getting the cleaning you were promised.  It's great you have a choice of dining rooms.

Sue...take it easy until you feel better.

Jeanne...glad you got something easier to handle.  My vacuum is heavy, too, but I rely mostly on my little battery charged dustbuster to clean around my chair.

Mary and Darlene...hope you're getting a break on heat.

I watered all day Thursday and hope for rain tomorrow.

I never watched West Wing, so have started watching it.  Just getting into it now and figuring out who's who.

Our count jumped 10 to 105.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

maryz

jane, West Wing is one of my favorite shows of all time - and IMHO, one of the best.
 Enjoy.

Sharon, I hope your PT is working - worth the "pain and torture".  I had bird feeders on my deck in Chattanooga, but used hooks for them that hung the over the edge, outside of the deck surface. Maybe you could use something like that on your balcony.

Nothing new going on around here. We're still having our usual August weather - temps in the low 90s and humid. But then I'm in the a/c all the time.

Have a good weekend, Buddies!

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up for a while, had breakfast and read the paper.  I'm dressed for the day, but so far have been staying inside.  It's pretty hot out there already!

I hope every buddy is OK this morning and has a nice day planned.  Take care and stay cool if possible!

Sue

Hi Gals. I slept in. I thought the new med was helping last night but doesn't seem to be this AM.  We met our HH friends who live here for wine at the clubhouse and then ate salmon in the main dining room--of course only John and I at a table. Others singles or marrieds. I didn't do a lot yesterday beyond the PT, but was really tired last night. PT said to rest this weekend. I plan to.

Mary, that is a good idea for the balcony if I can get John to take care of filling them, etc. The feed would have to be stored in the carport storage on the other side of the house. I sure do miss them.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned. Ours will be very quiet. Hi to everyone. Stay safe.  Sharon

Marilyn

Hello every buddy. Not much going on here at this time. I walk the dog, prepare the meals, watch TV, and do scrabble n my computer. We did go out for Friday night Mexican dinner and  just 4 of us in  a huge booth. I am trying to help a friend re home her dog before she  moves. I don't seem to be doing well with my breathing today. Had to use my once a day inhaler twice already today. I never do that.

jane

Afternoon, Sharon, Sue, Mary, Marilyn!

Hot and humid here, so I've been inside all day.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Its time for another quiz, short and sweet with only nine questions, and two answers are given to fill in the blanks. https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?msg=182484

Happy Sunday, Buddies!  Unfortunately I was wide awake at 5 a.m. I figured I'd best just get up and get dressed and nap later (maybe). Oh, well.

Good morning, Mary and Every Body looking in.  I've been up and dressed for while, read the morning paper, and had breakfast.  I'm thinking that Tim might be coming by this morning, but maybe not.  He and often Kris come over for a while to see how I'm doing.  It's very sunny here this morning and is going to be hot, so I may skip my down hill walk because of the heat.

I hope Every Buddy looking in this morning has a nice day planned---and that it is not overly hot to enjoy being outside!

Sue

SharonE

Marilyn if your trouble breathing continues, you better see a dr. or get a Covid test. Praying for you. You might try putting a picture of the dog on FB and see if you get a response.

Mary, can't imagine getting up at 5:00!

It's so hot, I think all of us will stay in today. I didn't sleep till 3 or so this morning, so am very tired and hurting. I did laundry and PT exercises yesterday and probably shouldn't have. Nothing else going on here but John's bridge. I hope everyone has a good Sunday.  Sharon

jane

We've had storms coming thru all day...and some much needed rain, though  we could use more!

I'm doing ssomething I've not done before....having a day long movie marathon on the Hallmark Movies and Mystery Channel, that I didn't even know I got!  I think it'll get a lot of use from me this winter when it's too cold to go out. ;D

Stay safe and healthy,
jane

Marilyn

Sharon I have problems breathing from time to time I have COPD, When my inhalers get ;ow or out of date, it takes a double dose to  bring me back to breathing normally.

maryz

Sharon, it wasn't my idea to be awake then! It just happened.  No nap today, so I know I'll sleep well tonight.

We're back into the humid 90s for the upcoming week. I don't think Marilyn has that sort of temperature in Oregon, but I guess everybody else does. Stay cool, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Marilyn, I knew you had COPD, but the double dose of inhaler worried me. Any progress in rehoming your friend's dog?

Mary, that's the way with me not getting to sleep till 3:00. Still had trouble last night.

I've written some notes and cards and just thought of another one I need to write. I hate doing that because of my tremor.  Speaking of which, Lori sent me a gift yesterday of weighted silverware that is supposed to help with tremors! They look normal and come with a sleeve. The only ones I've seen have a spoon that turns around on the handle and is very obvious.  I put them in the dish washer last night and so will try them for dinner. She's so thoughtful and found them on Amazon.

Other than the notes, I'm just reading today. BTW, Jane, West Wing was one of my favorites too and I also watch the HM mysteries from time to time.

Hi to all. Stay Safe!  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, I did sleep well last night - to the point that I didn't wake up until 7:30 a.m. when they delivered my breakfast.

I have COPD and have an inhaler I use once a day, plus "rescue inhalers" which I can use on a prn basis, two puffs at a time, up to 2-3 times a day. Just different medicines.

Severe thunderstorms rolling through Iowa...some with winds over 106 mph measured! Lots of 70-90 mph, they say.  Still  very dark and gloomy here.

I was going to go out for a few groceries, but not with this weather report.  I'll go tomorrow. :coolsmiley:

Take care and stay safe in the stiffling heat and storms,
