Like Jane, most of my social life is here, so want to hear from everyone. Don't they have any maintenance people that will hang pictures for you? We had the nicest guy do our large pictures and John could do the rest. With your love of art, etc, I'm sure it looks barren to you. I bet the squirrels got your bird feed. Crafty critters that they are.   No rain here, but really hot! I took Bunny our a while ago and was stunned. We didn't stay out long. Of course, she was waiting for lunch, so she was ready to head in also.  Take care.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, the maintenance guy will help with something too heavy for us to handle. But he's only one person - for the whole building. The wall stuff is still in the storage unit, waiting for things to open up more. I have lots more than will fit here, so have to make decisions. And after having been in this space for a while, I may want to move some furniture around, too. Permanent stuff will come in due time.

I had a post all ready and lost it somewhere.
Nothing exciting here...and I'm tired tonight...too much time on the computer.

I did buy some sheets online and got those washed, but I don't know how they'll work.
I don't have these deep mattresses everyone else seems to have, so these 18" and 20" pockets for the fitted sheet are too big, so I have a lot of sheet to tuck under.   ::)

I'm about to take a break and watch some Good Witch on the Hallmark movies and mysteries channel....they're having a marathon of Good Witch movies on Monday from noon + central time.

That and West Wing will be the night's entertainement.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Good morning, Jane and Every Buddy looking in.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but that's as far as I've gotten.  I'm moving pretty slow!  I don't know if Tim will be coming over this morning. He usually tries to check on me every day.

Not much else going on here today.  I have books to read and will spend time doing that.  I hope Every Buddy has a nice day planned--and you aren't suffering from heat!

Sue

Good Morning, Sue!  It's a wonderful 64 here this morning when I walked, and I'm just home from that.  The construction guys are cutting concrete and jackhammering up manholes, so the concrete dust is flying.

Nothing exciting here...Kathy and I will go out for supper since her husband has Jesters tonight out of town.

I have laundry to do, but that may wait until tomorrow.  It depends on how much computer stuff I need to do today.

The weatherguessers say maybe rain on Sunday.  I sure hope so...we're drying up and blowing away.

Stay safe and healthy, Buddies, and let us know how you're doing.

jane

Mary, it always takes lots of time to make decisions after (and before) a move. I do hope after the pandemic (if it ever ends), Margaret and the maintenance guy will help you move furniture and hang pictures.

Jane, it sounds wonderfully cool there. This weekend is to be sunny and hot and then cool down to 80's for a week. That will be wonderful. I hope you get all your computer stuff done quickly. Nice that you're going out with Kathy.

We are going over to the dining room to eat 3 times a week. They deliver the rest. It makes a nice break and we can also pick up our mail & hit the library when needed.

My new pharmacist came today and took all my supplements & Rx's with him and will deliver bubble packs made up for a month at a time with everything in them. He's a nice East Indian man whose store isn't too far away.

I have some business calls to make and that's about all I have planned. I had another late night last night. Don't know why since I stopped that new med. A nap will probably be in my future.

Sue, good to see you post again. Wish you had some people to talk with. Just reading gets kind of old if you do it all day, everyday.

Stay safe everyone.  Sharon

[Heres wishing everyone a safe and fun holiday weekend...Texas finally cooling down some and we had rain yesterday...may go to football game tonight..depends on weather....good vibes your way/size]

Hello Buddies, Well here it is Labor day weekend and only 2 months un til the election, 2.5 until Thanksgiving and 3.6until Christmas.

I made reservations for Sunriver for next year. June was already booked up there so I had to take the 3rd week of May or wait un til September or October. We are thinking of taking a 2 day trip up north to Yachats eihter this month or next with friends. [Yachats Click Here]

As usualy we are going out for Mexicn food with Keith's friend Tim tonight.

We are having extreme heat for the next few days , its 95F  this afternoon .
I had a bone density scan this afternoon . The  worst part was checking in !   I was handed an electronic gadget ( think it was like an Ipad ) instead of papers to fill out .  That thing gave me fits , finally the woman at the check in came & helped me .

jane

Marilyn...good you could get some time in for Sunriver and a trip to Yachts sounds like what you need.

Alpiner...yes, those pad things...my dentist uses them too.

It's a cool morning...65...so I got a walk in and now will wait for the storms predicted for tonight into tomorrow and 90+ degrees tomorrow.  We desperately need the rain.

Good Witch lovers....there's a movie marathon on Monday on Hallmark movies and mysteries from noon + (central time).  I'll be there...even if they're re-runs.

Kathy and I went down to a local bar...never thought I'd be doing that at my age...for supper.  They do make from scratch a decent pizza and then off to Dairy Queen for dessert and to her house for a bit of Bailey's.

Today is catching up on some Latin work and probably watching West Wing or something I can find on Netflix.

Take care and stay safe!

Good morning, Jane and Every Buddy looking in.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but so far that's it!  I haven't made plans for the rest of the day, but will sit down and read shortly.  Not much else going on here this morning.  I don't know if Tim will come over, but will be looking for him.  He always goes into my bedroom to see if I've been taking my meds!

I hope Every Buddy is feeling well, not too hot and having a nice day.
Sue

SharonE

This is laundry day here. Not much else scheduled. Jane, are those shows on Hallmark or Netflix? Your evening sounded nice, especially the Baileys at the end!

Marilyn, Yachats looks beautiful. A nice getaway. Glad you got your timeshare reserved for next yr, even if not at a prime time.

Darlene, so glad it is cooling down for you. Hope it continues.

Sue, you are so lucky to have Tim nearby to check on you.

Alpiner, I think most of the drs and dentists are using an I pad now. I don't mind them, unless my tremor is in high gear.

I hope everyone has a nice Labor Day. Ours is supposed to be nice weatherwise. No plans to do anything though.
Take care and stay safe. Sharon

Think now loosing wifi as only bottom lines missing on this post. I just quit on all tech. Today.

Sharon...Hallmark Movies and Mysteries is a separate channel on my cable listing.  I didn't know I had it, but am delighted to have found it.  Netflix also has 5 seasons of Good Witch and some other series I enjoy.  Nothing intellectual...just calming and fun and, yes, sort of silly, but in a way that's calming for me.

I see enough dysfunction in the news.  I don't need it on my entertainment choices.

I don't know if I mentioned my big adventure of the day was going to WalMart!  Sad when that's a highlight of your Saturday.

Our numbers jumped again by 12.  I bet after this weekend they'll surge again.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Wowzers (as a dear Friend says) what a night here in NE Iowa!  From about 2:00 am on, we've had a lot of very loud and rolling thunder and the night sky bright from all the lightning.  And rain, blessed rain!  We lost power several times...I could tell from the beeping of the chair lift on the stairway.  I finally got up, found my big flashlight and turned the chair lift off, and went back to bed.  Sleep was in bits and pieces as the thunderstorms continued to rollover...and continue now.  BUT, the corn and soybean farmers are dancing for joy this morning, I'm sure.

I'm VERY glad I'm not in a tent in a campground this morning!

It's wonderfully cool low 60s this morning, and we're to have "fall" temps all week.  That's welcome, too.

Nothing planned for me this weekend...just enjoying the rain and the cool temps.

Stay safe and healthy this holiday weekend,

jane

JeanneP

What storms we are having.Black as midnight right now. I am glad. Now maybe not so many out in rowdy for the long weekend. Numbers going up to fast here. Bars closed and no inside eating. Sure will not be outside either. Sad for the businesses.though.
I do need to go out to drug soon as it clears.

I am oiling my hair right now . Not it good shape at all .split ends. Dry. Dull. Going back on Biotin again se if helps. I trimmed a little again it need to get a good hair cut. Maybe next week..
Little cold in house so turned electric heater for awhile.

Darn wifi keeps messing up when posting. My desktop and Comcast still not working right. Maybe call them tomorrow.doubt the will do much. Nothing on tv unless you do screening. So far I don't.

Looks like I've been quiet for a couple of days.  Sorry about that. I guess I'm getting antsy about finally getting out for more things. Best of all, the beautician is starting back with regular visits on Thursday. And I'm definitely on her list for a haircut.

Marilyn, glad you've made your reservations for next year. Do you think Keith will be able to go, too? I hope so, but I guess you never know. I wish I could get some good Mexican food (or Chinese or anything like that).  Oh, well - that'll come sometime, too.

jane, glad you're getting some much-needed rain and cooling-off. The weather is SO changeable and does it SO quickly.

Jeanne, I'm sure it's tough being in a college town and dealing with this thing. I don't think a vaccine will be ready soon, but I hope it'll be better when it finally is available.

Sharon, what did your tremor doctor (neurologist?) tell you?

alpiner, your temps in CA are terrible. Are there any fires in your area?

Darlene, I know how great it is to get a norther blow through and get rid of the heat and humidity (at least temporarily).

Sue, it's great that you have Tim to look out for your finances and check on you.

Happy Labor Day, Buddies - and welcome to the start of Fall.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Jane, glad you got some rain. We aren't in too bad a shape for rain, but can always use some. I'm familiar with Hallmarks Mystery channel and taped some last night. I don't get Netflix unfortunately. I agree that those shows mentioned aren't particularly mentally stimulating, but I seem to like the light ones best these days. Agree about watching the news. I used to feel sorry for the farmers in our area in IN.when they were so dry at the wrong times.

I did 2 loads of laundry yesterday and have the 2nd of the ones for today in and then I'm done. Later, I'll take a tramadol so that I can go with John and Bunny to the lake. Last week, I just wasn't up to it.  I did sleep well last night.

Alpiner, can't imagine your heat! Hot enough here.

Sue, I'm glad Tim checks on your medicine.  I have an Alexa, an electronic device that I've programmed to remind me of my medicine and anything else important. You might talk to Tim about getting you one. Once it's set up, you just have to talk to it to program it or whatever. Nothing technical.

Mary, lucky you that your beautician is back. Ours isn't yet. I don't see the tremor specialist till the 15th.

I like a nice soaking rain w/o all the lightening and thunder. Bunny does too! ;)I hope all the young people behave themselves this weekend and stay safe, although from comments I've heard from adults, they aren't much better. Sharon

Marilyn

My friend and I made our reservations in Yachats for Sept. 29 and 30. Keith, Myself and Freckles will stay  in a downstairs unit and Jo and her boyfriend will be upstairs. I'e been looking forward to this trip all summer.

For the Sunriver trip in May I just hope it isn't snowing.  I am hoping Keith can go as I booked a disabled unit We will have to travel from the coast  up to over 5000 feet elevation to get to the high desert in eastern Oregon where Sunriver is located.

Keith and I are going to Jo's house to BBQ steaks. I went to a meat bonanza sale  Friday and bought  a huge New York roast that the butcher cut into 13 steaks, and a big pork roast the he cut into 15  very large pork chops. My total bill with a few other things added was just $63.0 What a great buy the butcher even helped me pick the best pieces of meat. Howz that for small town customer service?

A brush fire started yesterday & has burned 10 homes .  Yesterday it was 115F on our front porch .  https://www.cbs8.com/article/news/local/wildfire/valley-fire-near-japatul-valley/509-e2a40e99-aff2-461f-9ab2-4827bf089280

alpiner - SO scary!!! I hope it doesn't get any closer to you. And so sorry for those in the paths of the fires.

Good Labor Day morning, Buddies.

No storms last night but it's much cooler here and to be highs in the 50s this week!  That's a 40 degree drop from where we were.  I hope our old bodies can adjust to these changes.

No plans here.  My flag is out and that's the extent of my "holiday event."

Stay safe from the virus, the heat, the fires, or whatever is threatening in your neck of the woods.

I just learned Iowa is #1 in most covid cases per capita.  What an "honor."  Thank you, Governor Reynolds, for not taking any actions to mitigate the spread.  What a joke of female leadership.

jane

maryz

jane, I've been thinking the same thing about your governor. She's definitely giving "us" (women) a bad name.  Re your weather - at least you're not predicted (yet) to get the snow that's forecast for just west of you.

Have a safe Holiday, Buddies!

Mary...I regret that woman isn't up for re-election this year.

SharonE

Hi Gals, Nothing going on here. Usual bridge and reading. Laundry done and put away.

Alpiner, I hope the fires don't come any closer. Those are scary.

Mary, I have cabin fever too. Would love to go out and do something fun.  I did do the lake walk with John and Bunny yesterday, but that's it.

Our food for today is hot dogs and hamburgers and sides, all for lunch. Good that I had leftovers from dinner last night to have tonight.

I did promise the lady across the street to go over and see if I could fix her printer connection. I hope I can.

Hi to Jane, Sue, Darlene, and Marilyn. BTW, that was a great deal on your meat!

Stay safe. Sharon

jane

Wow...what a change in temps here in Iowa.  Right now at 8:30 am it's 52.  52!  And beginning to rain.  I've gone to long pants and a light sweatshirt.  I guess fall is here.

AND that is all the news and excitement from this corner of the world!

Stay safe and healthy,

jane
