Good to see Jeanne and Darlene here!  I did get my walk in and it wasn't raining...just puddles on some low sidewalk, but I survived!   :coolsmiley:

I then decided I was just restless, and so drove up to a town about 15 miles north of me to go to a place called The Market to see what they had out ....and lots and lots of pretty stuff for Christmas.   https://www.facebook.com/themarkketusa/

Nobody could understand how they survive in such a small town, but we were told they do a LOT of online orders and shipping.

No, I didn't buy anything, but I enjoyed looking.  I'd asked Kathy if she wanted to go up last week, but she had something going on each day, so I just went by myself.  I'm not going to wait for somebody else's schedule to do what I want to do.  I like to do things when I feel good...or am restless like today...and the weather is ok.

Patricia is going to come down this weekend while her husband is hunting.  She'll come Friday after work and stay until Sunday.  It'll be fun to have a "girls weekend" with her.

SharonE

Jane, I finally found a cute one yesterday on Amazon. I guess I put too much info in the search bar. I've never been on the Etsy site altho I have heard of it.  Anyway, my Christmas is now all taken care of. We had church pics taken before my fall and bought enough for the kids & grandkids.  That will be their gift as it will probably be our last professional picture.  Thanks for looking for me though.

Jeanne, you better get your handyman to put up the florescent light and any others that are high up.

Sue, our club meets the 4th Wed of the month, so we always skip Nov and schedule an early day in December. Then we start our usual schedule in Jan.

Jane, it's good that you go ahead and go when you want to if no one is available to accompany you.  Nice that Patricia is coming down. Enjoy her visit.  Yesterday was a slug day for me.  My cleaning girl was here and then I just watched some TV and read. I hurt so bdad all day.

The sun has finally come out and the temp is climbing up to 60. John is playing bridge today but has promised not to accept a game tomorrow and get my pots ready to plant. I sit on a patio chair to do them, but he still may have to help me.

I also have dr's appts Thurs and Fri.  Will they never end?  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Darlene, Sharon, Jane, and Every Buddy who might be looking in this morning (although it's almost 11:00 a.m. here this morning--I do not move very quickly in the morning!)

It's somewhat chilly here this morning and I've not been outside for my morning walk.  I did get into the closet and get out a jacket to wear, so I will go for the walk shortly.  I walk every day unless it is raining or snowing--so far no snow here in Auburn--and when it comes I will walk around the neighborhood and see lots of tiny snow men in every yard.  So far since I moved up here after Bob died, it has not snowed very often or very much at one time.

I have made a grocery list for Friday (I'm pretty sure Eddie will be coming to take me to the library and Kroger--he would let me know if he couldn't come).  I don't need many things and I will be eating Thanksgiving dinner at Ard's home--but Tim will be doing most of the cooking (at least I think so!).

I hope Every Buddy is having a nice day today and also hope your Thanksgiving will be nice with friends and relatives.

Sue

JeanneP

Going to be nice here both today and tomorrow but then back cod.i should get some leaves raked off porch and drive. Not in mood for that. I had lots for he laundry and had it there by 10am. They will have it all one ironed and on Hangers for me to pick up by 1pm. Just put sheets on and do bedroom after pickup. Love sleeping fresh sheets
Still need to go library and hair.
Jane. Good. You just get in car and go when you feel like it. I have always on that way . Even young I would take offfrom local station with a day ticket and go Faras wanted then back home.went Igot places up to coming US then now for past 50 years traveled all over alone mast times. Fact when with others I have snuck off by myself. Met some amazing people doling same thing. Tried couple tours. Didn't work for me. I did enjoy when had the girls and then with grandsons as they got older. Special showing them Europe. Thing is one has to not be as trusting like was years ago.

I did get all my lights changed yesterday after picking up the bulbs. My goodness price of them these days. I bought last year a good heavy 3 step ladder that I keep in house 2 step high is as far I go. Stopped climbing after you sue had your accident.

We had a young minister of small church die the other day down the street .just 51 with 3 children. He was on roof hanging Christmas lights and leaned over.that and 2 grandparents returning from a HS ball game Friday with their 17 year GD and friend in car got crashed into and killed . So couple schools closed today for funerals. Always seems to be more sad things this time of year

Well now I am off,not sure where. All have a good day.

jane

Sharon....glad you found a tee for your little baseball guy.

Sue...I wish I could force myself to walk outside more.  I did walk today when I came back from bridge lunch.  No playing as there were just 3 of us.

We'll skip next Wed since two of the 3 of us have family coming or have dishes to take to a daughter-in-law's home, etc.

I just need to get used to going where I want when I want as I did all those years I was single.

Jeanne...glad you got your lights changed.  My kitchen ones are recessed in the ceiling, so nephew will have to change out when there's a need.

Tomorrow I'm taking one of the cars for a tire rotation and checking fluid levels, anti-freeze, etc.  When it had it's first checkup at the dealership while we were in TX, they wanted to charge us over $100 to rotate the tires. Ray said NOPE, so I'll have it done here where whatever the charge will be fair and done right.

Time to go watch hockey.

jane

so_P_bubble

Are you still rotating tires in  US?  Here it's been years since they don't do that any more. Apparently with the new tires and car suspension it is not required anymore. I only did that in my very first car in the sixties.
It seems to me the tires never get eroded now like they used to do.

SharonE

Sure wish I could walk like most of you do. Just can't.

Jane, there is a long handled gadget with a thing on the end that you can put in canlights. We got ours at Lowes.

John bought new smoke alarms last week and is going to have Brian install them when he's here for TG.  He has several jobs for him and the boys.

I'm off to get a mamm today and then to the pain doctor tomorrow. Cross your fingers that it all works out the way I want it to.

Yes, so-p bubble, we all still rotate tires in the US. Don't know if it is necessary or not but the car places say so.

Hi to all I haven't mentioned and have a good day. Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Jane, Sharon, Bubble, and Every Buddy looking in this morning.  Today is my bridge day at the nearby retirement home.  Several of us who still live at home play over there once a month.  They serve lunch (which we pay for) and then we play most of the afternoon.

Tomorrow I'm hoping I can get Bonney to go to see the Tom Hanks movie where he is playing the part of Mr. Rogers.  I have been a big fan of Mr. Rogers since my boys used to watch it with me before they started school.  I was very upset when Bill and Tim were in High School and Saturday night live put on a skit with Mr. Rogers in his Undies.  Bill and Tim thought it was hilarious--and I cried! I still love Mr. Rogers and I hope Mrs. Rogers is doing OK as a new widow.  We did watch Captain Kangaroo, too, but not as much as we watched Mr. Rogers.  He was such a gentle caring person.

Not much else to report this morning.  I'll play bridge most of the afternoon over at Azalea Place.  We'll eat lunch there before we play.  Libba will pick me up to go to A.P.  She lives on the street directly behind me.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

I wish  could walk the way I used too and I will when my foot is completely healed. The Dr said we are also wasiting for the complete healing to do the other foot.

Freckles just left for her walk, Thank goodness for my  neighbor and friend.  I fired the caregiver yesterday, She has had one excuse after another why she couldn't come in the days she specified she would. She had only been here 4 times since we got back from Kauai in June.  I have hired someone I have known  for a long timer, whom I used to work with at the Clinic. She took care of my other dogs and house when we would go on vacation for afew years.

I have seen sdome progression in Kieth of the disease.  He has good days though and I look forward to those days. Other days  what can I say. He has taken to wearing his hat that I crocheted for him and his gloves all day long until I tell him to take them off to eat or go to bed.

JeanneP

May go o a movie today but can't make up my mind. mr. Rogers or A Good liar. I remember the times when could line up both and go from one to the other if times worked. But now at $8.00 a ticket think twice. Seems like movies are not very long these days .just about one hour and 15 min. They show the future series of coming ones for 20 min. Each of our theatres have about 12 movies to pick from. Most. Not my type. Still like big screens though.

We leave in a few minutes for my appt. with my oncologist , usually she just checks my bp & weight & lab work & checks for lumps .  Its a 100 mile round trip  . It will be in the heavy commute traffic coming home which is scary . I'm glad Norm is driving !! We had a big rain storm yesterday , it was coming down so hard the windshield wipers couldn't take care of keeping the windshield clear enough to safely drive .  Then during the night the power went off for a couple of hours .

jane

It's been a cooling day today...temp dropping...and very, very windy.
 Just not nice out there.

Bubble...I do rotate my tires...I think they wear better and you find out if there's an alignment problem if they're wearing weirdly.  I'm also not committed to the going 10,000 miles for each oil change, but I'm getting used to it.
I guess synthetic oil allows for that.  I also needed the antifreeze checked here which people in the South usually probably don't need to worry about.

I've been watching the witnesses today before Congress.  My, what bright, gifted people they are...the career foreign service people, I mean...not the politicians.  ;)

The oncologist said one of the readings of my blood work was a bit elevated & it might be because the lab work was done the before the cancer surgery . I will be having more lab work , then will see the oncologist again soon .

It was lovely yesterday, 60 & sunny, so John got the pots emptied and the overgrown lantana cut down. I got the front pots planted before I had to leave for the mammogram, which came out fine, thank goodness.  I have the pain dr's appt at noon and when I get back will try to do the back pots.  I was so tired last night that I forgot to look for the meteor shower.

Alpiner, a 100 mile trip to the doctor is awful. Can't you find one closer?  Hope everything went well.

Jane, we have rain scheduled for tomorrow too. I'm tired of it.

Hi Sue, and Darlene. Hope you're having good days. Gotta run. Sharon

jane

Alpiner...did he tell you which item was elevated on your blood work?

Sharon...those winter pots sound so pretty.  Nothing possible like that here, as you know.  Our only outside colors are brown and white (snow).  ;D

It's back down in the 20s now.

Patricia is coming in tonight for the weekend, which will be nice.  Just us "girls."

jane

Marilyn

alpiner1

The oncologist's office is in the same medical complex where I had the lumpectomy . It is in a suburb of San Diego & we live in the country .

alpiner1

Jane my doctor told me the name of what was elevated but I don't remember . Its too technical .  The tumor had not been removed when I had the lab work done so the doctor suspects that was the reason .

maryz

Sharon, glad you're getting your flowers in.  I certainly understand
about the back pain, though.  Hope a lot of it is due to the changeable weather - or that the doc can fix things.

jane, have a great time this weekend with your buddy.

alpiner, since I've now moved,  it's about a 100-mile round trip to my doctors.  I'll be changing a lot of them eventually.  This area is semi-rural, but there are three towns (Manchester, Tullahoma, Wincester) revolving around an Air Force testing facility (where Margaret and Bobby both worked).
So there are good medical facilities in the area.  I hope all your followup visits are good.

Marilyn, you certainly need to have the first foot healed and pain-free before doing the other one.
I hope that's soon - as I know you do, too.

Jeanne, you do keep busy - both around the house and in the community.

Sue, you do the same, with your walking.  Are you getting to any of the basketball games?

Darlene, you're walking, too.  I remember that changeable Texas weather, and it can get really hot or really cold very quickly.

Margaret and I spent yesterday and today packing up things at the apartment - throwing gobs of stuff away and deciding what I need for the next few months and what to put in the storage unit.
The guys are going to move furniture tomorrow...I'm planning to stay here this time.

Happy weekend to all the Buddies!

Good morning, Every Buddy. I've been up for a while, had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen.  Yesterday after Eddie took me to Kroger for my grocery shopping, he brought me home and waited while I put the groceries away and then we went to his partner's office to pick him up and the two of them treated me to lunch.  Dave, his partner, was Tim's best man when he and Kris were married.

I'm going to call Bonney soon and see if she'd like to go to lunch around noon.  If not I'll eat more of my leftovers.  Other than that and reading one of my library books, I'll not be doing much else.  I'm hoping Bonney can pick me up tomorrow for SS and church as Olyne had one of her out of state sons and his son coming for the weekend with her.  It may rain some more shortly.

My next door neighbor just came over with several tubs of leftovers which will last me for several days (NO COOKING!).  He does all the cooking and often brings me small tubs of whatever they've been eating.  Needless to say, I enjoy the dishes!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Hi everyone. the foot seems to be feeling better so far today. this morning I put my Orthotics back in my  shoes to see if that would help to keep the arch from being so painful.

SharonE

I had 2 pairs of Ecco flats that fit perfectly. I've probably worn one pair 6 or 8 years and the rubber sole fell apart Friday. Fortunately, I still have the other pair which is about 3 years old. As you've heard me expound before, I have a terrible time finding shoes that fit.

We're back from church and had lunch and John has run to HT to pick up some Rxs and a few things I forgot for Thurs. Always something.

Last night, my fall alarm went off in the shower and had 4 or 5 couples all upset. I didn't fall, so I'm going to have to call the company and find out what's wrong. Everyone was mad at me and I didn't do anything!

Our pastor is sick, so don't know if we'll have our last BS class on "Almost Christmas".  Maybe she will postpone it a day or so.

You all sound so active and busy. Wish I could be (with fun things).  I'll be so glad to have my knee done in January. The pain dr. is going to pull out the stimulation wire since it's not doing anything. That way I can get an MRI and the special knee.  We'll talk about the new kind of stimulator that has 16 stimulators after my knee is fixed.  I'm going to call my grandson-in-law who is a bio medical engineer and have him research the results and report back to me.  He actually works on pacemakers, but a lot of other doctors there work on things like that.

Hope Jane is having a nice weekend and that Marilyn feels better with the orthotic.

Mary, take it easy during your move. I'm thinking about you. Such a chaotic time for you.  Thank heavens you have Margaret and the other girls..     Lovely day here--sunny & 60 after rain all day yesterday.  Sharon

jane

Alpiner...I guess those of us in rural areas get used to driving distances to our docs.  I'm guessing you, at least, don't have to deal with snow and ice.

Marilyn...hope the orthotic worked for you.

Sue...nice to be treated to lunch by Eddie and Dave.

Mary...packing up has to be tiring. Take it easy.

Sharon...Glad you got the stimulator disconnected and can perhaps use a new one that's better after the new knee.

Darlene...hope all is well in Tx

Hi to  Jeanne and Shirley.

It was a nice weekend with Patricia here. We did get out for shopping both here and in the town north of us that has an interesting store...

https://www.themarkket.com/gallery/

She left about 10:30 this morning.  I then forced myself to put on walking shoes and bundled up and walked to town and back.  It's supposed to be just cloudy today, but the clouds look like rain/snow ones.  Weatherguessers say storms blowing in Tuesday...so we'll see, I guess.

jane

alpiner1

Jane  no snow or ice , just possible rain .  There is one hospital closer but I have more confidence in the one I go to . Our doctor is affiliated with it . When I was in the other one with pneumonia I developed a disliking for it .

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's sunshiny and bright here this morning.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, and am dressed for my morning walk.  It's chilly here this morning, but is sunny and will be warmer later in the day.  I went to an AU women's basketball game last night with my friend Norma. We won and it looks like our team has worked out the early kinks--and we won the game.  Lots of fans brought canned food which is to be given to our local food bank.  I found a couple of cans of things to take and it looked like there were many cans outside where a young man was collecting for the food bank.

I'm planning to catch up on my mail this morning after my walk.  I have several things like that to take care of today.

I hope Every Buddy is feeling well this morning.  Have a nice day!
Sue

jane

Alpiner...absolutely go with the place where you have confidence in the hospital, doctors, staff.

Sue...keeping busy, as usual for you!  Good for you.

Weather change is coming, so I need to get out and get some bird seed because those little guys really do "bulk up" when the weather is changing for cold and possible snow.

I have a lot of laundry to do since Patricia was here for the weekend, so one set of sheets in the dryer and I need to get going and strip other bed and get that going, as well as all the other personal laundry.

jane

maryz

alpiner, I agree with jane - stay with the medical team you have confidence in.  Margaret is willing to drive me back to Chattanooga for a couple of my docs - that I only see twice a year.  But some, like the dentist, I'll change to nearby.  Margaret has docs she is happy with, so that will mostly work for me.

I guess they got all the furniture moved over the weekend and stashed in the storage unit near where I'll be moving.  Margaret and I will go back tomorrow to get the stuff off the walls and do one more check around.  I don't have to totally give up the apartment until 12 December.

We had miserable weather over the weekend - but at least for us, that just means rain and chilly, not ice and snow.  It's cool today, but nice and sunny.  I'm getting knitting done, and time on the computer, but not much else.  At least I feel better than I have in months - and that's a very good thing.

Happy Monday and a Happy Early Thanksgiving to all the Buddies!!

I.  Don't think I have gotten through to one person for months. Even family are friends are LEAVE A MESSAGE.i have my set that way now starting this week.
Such great weather for past  2 days. Hard not getting outside without heavy jackets. Changing tomorrow night. Looks Ike bad weather for people traveling all over. Glad I stay home.

I think I am answering in wrong forum. Was over in photo.s oh well. Just leave it.

Maryz. Sounds like you making this move is going to be less stress for you. Glad you are feeling better . Keep it up.
