Hello Everyfriend!  It's been a strange day!  I was up and out earlier than I've been up and out since I retired!  The xrays today were a lot easier than the ones they took the day I broke my arm.  By lunch time, there was an email from Geisinger Health Services saying that I had a new report in my file.  I went in to see it and it was a two page report on the xrays.  In two pages, I understood one word....HEALING!  I suppose that's good but I'll wait until the Tele-visit with the Orthopedist on Friday morning and see what he has to say.

I'm trying to get my last two rooms and my two bathrooms ready for the floor guys and that's not an easy job with only one useful arm.  I've decided that I have too much "stuff" in this house and a lot of it has to go.  I'm going to have to get very firm about getting rid of "stuff".

AMY, if there's an egg in my boot, it's a good bet that it's scrambled.  But I'm pretty sure it's not edible.  Have you looked inside your boots lately?

Tonight is going to be an early one for me.  I don't know why I'm so tired tonight.  I sure haven't done enough to warrant it.  But my eyelids are drooping already!

So I'll wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up. Mickie's been out for her first one and had her pill.  I've had my first cup of coffee and we're waiting for the boinger.

It was cold over night (down in the mid 30s and supposed to be sunny and in the mid to high 50s today but overnight tonight is going below freezing.  What kind of weather is this?

Today is laundry and cooking.  I have about 3 medium loads of laundry and I want to make a meatloaf sometime today in time for supper. Haven't figured out the rest of the menu but there's still time!

I hope you all have a good day!
Make it your own in every way!

Good morning everyone, slept later this morning, good. 5 is better than 3 am, right? Cold 38 this morning, have the heat turned up and will be warmer soon I hope. Those few warm days we had sure felt good.

JANE  at times I wonder if our governor is being over careful but maybe not. Really better to be safe than sorry. From what I hear on the news it seems like some of "those in the know" -those who are so smart-say this can be around for a couple of years. Living closed up like we are now I sure can understand why some are demanding everything open up again.

AMY  I would like to see you get a
"wiggle on" :) :)

PHYLLIS  since I am one who never minded staying home this is really not bothering me too much but miss seeing the other tenants either  sitting in the lobby or on the porch, but now they seem afraid to go out of their apartments. I like sugar smap peas and bet yours are yummy.

LLOYD  onoly 38 this morning. I knew the warm days we had would not last. That good friend just used you to get what he wanted. He is one mean man.

CALLIE  all my appointments were cancelled when this mess started. If I need anything I can call and talk to them on the phone. So far so good with me.

SANDY  this town is not as bad as other places in the state and I am glad I live in this country town.

BUBBLE  thankd for the link to Shirley's photos.

SHIRLEY  your house is huge for one person. If that pool was in my back yard I would be in it on every haot day. A shame no one uses it at all. Sure a lot of brass to cut. Would not like doing it with one of those old push lawnmowers.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone..

Beautiful morning here. We are going to go to a restaurant to pick up some fish and chips for us and orders for friends this morning. The restaurant only does curb side pick up and is about 1  hr drive. Their fish  is well worth the drive...a special treat .
I will sew a bit more then off we go.

Gloria, some days mu wiggle is more of a woggle  :))

Shirley, your home is lovely.lot of up keep for sure but well worth it. I would also be in that pool every day.

Jane, we had your pork chops last night and wow wre they tender, no knife needed for those.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day everyone..

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOY!

Sunny but coolish this morning.  The heat is running and feels good.

Nice house, Shirley.  Brings back memories of "home" to me.

Not many businesses opening here as yet.  Nothing to officially open until tomorrow but I think people are being cautious.....understandably.  New Covid 19 cases are still being reported every day.

Take care, All.

Well I thought I typed a post but it just disappeared... so I am trying again.

Here in NE Scotland it's been a sunny day so far. I will try to post a picture of the marigolds I potted up yesterday, but don't hold your breath, I am hopeless at all things technical.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EXWV84qU0AINquj?format=jpg&name=900x900

Today I tried to construct my new bird bath - it only has 4 parts and the instructions are clear enough, but could I do it?  What do you think? It will have to wait for my husband to emerge from what he is now calling his 'den' - actually the spare bedroom, where he is working from home.

Amy - I hope you enjoy your fish & chips. Our chippie here in Culter re-opened this week (take-outs only). I have not had any, but it is known to be excellent, so I hope people support it. This morning I made spring green soup for later, also some lemon and ginger scones.

Today I have also been up to the vet to collect Gracie's medication. As well as her antacid the vet has put her on a laxative - I just hope the results are gradual!  I have reminded her where her litter tray is - though like most cats she is fastidious, so fingers crossed.  I was a bit worried about bringing the old lady up here when I left Edinburgh, as we have been with the same vet there for many years and the staff are wonderful. I have been so lucky, as there is a vet right here on the main road, and they have been immensely helpful. They are trying to avoid face-to-face consultations just now, unless it is really urgent, but they have been able to discuss things by phone, and to make sure Gracie has her pills. I tried putting them in her food (they are teeny) but she sussed that out straight away so now I have to take my life in my hands and push one into her mouth every evening. So far I have managed, I give her a treat snack immediately afterwards and she soon forgets about the assault I have made on her dignity...

Last night we watched a Bake Off special - it was from January, and was the cast of Derry Girls, one of our favourite series. The 'normal' Great British Bake Off is a hard fought contest with many heats with members of the public taking part, but these celebrity ones are much more laid back and absolutely hilarious. It was just what we needed. Other celebrity ones have featured people like John Lithgow, who was absolutely lovely - most of the celebrity shows are in support of a charity called Stand Up to Cancer, and they encourage people to hold their own baking events and raise more donations. Of course no-one can host anything at the moment, but I imagine time will come again.

I have just finished reading a book set in 1945 - The Village by Marghanita Laski - and have moved on to A Cornish Summer by Catherine Alliott. So far it is all about people with huge mansions overlooking the sea, and names like Hugo and Belinda. Escapism can be a good thing sometimes!  One of my daughters actually had a job au pairing for a couple called Hugo and Jenny - they were working in Brussels. She had a wonderful time with them. The first night she was there they brought out a bottle of champagne and Hugo decapitated it with his ceremonial sword - Anna had certainly never seen anything like that before!

We are going to Home Bargains later as I read somewhere that one way to keep the crows from stripping all the fat balls I put into the feeders for the small birds is to buy two hanging basket frames and fix them together to form a sphere around the feeder - then the small birds can get in and the big ones can't. I know all birds need to eat, but these crows are going through the fat snacks so fast I can hardly keep up with them. Home Bargains is one of the few non-food shops that has remained open. I read just now that more stores are going to be allowed to open up next week, but still not garden centres, which seems to me to be ridiculous, as the places are stuffed full of plants that will just die soon, and there is no reason wht garden centres can't operate with the same rules as supermarkets. They let B & Q (huge hardware store) stay open throughout, and they have a big gardening section. Oh well, it can't last forever, and I must say I am becoming more inventive about what I need for the garden. The new dwarf rhododendron that we bought specified a particular kind of pine mulch, which of course I did not have, so I collected lots of beech husks when out on my walk and put those, plus some little pine cones, round it - showed a very mature-savvy friend online and he said that was exactly what it needed. Hoorah - my gardening has always been very much trial and error (mostly error...)

So now I will go & have a late lunch.

I hope everyone is having a good day,

Rosemary

Shirley

My internet is off & on this morning so tried to post earlier & wouldn't "fly", I copied & will try again about hour & half later. Good to see you, Rosemary.

Thank you all for the comments about the house (and dratted pool), my internet is going off & on every few seconds this morning so will cut this short. In spite of the size, it is cheaper to live here than move, so here I stay until I can't keep up. It is a lot of work for one person, but the river makes up for the extra work. Told my husband when he found this house that "this is that cabin by a creek" that we had looked for when we lived in the Kansas City area. I'm glad this one has running water & indoor plumbing and even electricity, phones & wi-fi (part time). We all have an image in our mind of what people talk about so now you know what my world looks like, thanks to Bubble!

It's a lovely cool morning in central Oklahoma.

Rosemary,  I have The Derry Girls in My List on Netflex...along with several other shows/series I have good intentions of watching.  However, there's an old saying about the road paved with good intentions!

Shirley,  I enjoyed seeing your path to the river and your beautiful yard.  Hubby and I had a silent responsibility "agreement"; he stayed out of my kitchen and I stayed out of his yard. Worked well for both of us and we both enjoyed the work the other one did.  :)

Now time for the noon news. The virus statistics are getting boring but I would like to know if the prediction for rain/hail/wind in the wee hours has changed.

Good morning everyone..
Looks like we had a bit of snow and will get more today.. The drive was lovely yesterday, we were able to go into the restaurant to place and pick up our order to bring back home. Met our  friend in town and gave them their order. Fish was delicious!! I still have one piece left that will be for a meal for both of us as it is over 12 inches long.

Today is play catch up on things that didn't get done and deliver some masks.

Jenny, that is so frustrating when you can't get in here. Glad you have it all fixed  now. Dr called and told my friend no treatment  that the virus was a worse worry then her cancer.

Rosemary, I love fish..good fish well done. I want the wiggle cooked out of it too!

Phyllis, we still have the fire going, may let it go out during the day but it is on morning and again in the evening.

Better git!

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning everyone, wow I woke at  6:30 this morning, was light out and not dark. I could see where I was going without turning a light on. Nice.

We are in for rain later and maybe even snow mixed in with it.

JOY  Happy Belated Birthday.

A few places are set to open tomorrow but if people don't follow the rules the governor will close them again. Some restaurants can open if they have outside seating, or take out, no one inside.

SANDY  we used to be a quiet  town and most people knew each other, several different villages in town  and so quiet and peaceful. Then people from cities bought land and moved here and wanted what they had in cities. It has changed so much but still a small town but in area it is a good size. We used to go walking through the woods explor ing and find old cellar holes and tind fragments of crockery and even arrow heads. Now every thing is private property. Depending on  traffic we are about half an hour from Providence, a little over an hour to Boston, longer to Hartford and depending on the season it can take up to 2 1/2 hours to get to the Cape. In summer it seems everyone  is heading there but in winter it is not that long. Have not been out there in years now. We are close to the Mass. border and also the Conn. border where the 3 states come together.

SHIRLEY  I hope you have closed off part of that big house you have so you do not have too keep up with the whole house. Heck I cannot keep up with the 3 rooms I have without help.

ROSEMARY  your Marigolds showed up great. I had to laugh because I used to start seeds in cans like that to get an early start and then plant them outside when it warmed up. I started tomato seeds like that and when it got warm enough I had healthy plants to put out.

AMY  I cannot picture you as anything but wiggling, you are always so busy, oh I do remember those days. Now I fell like I am just a lazy person but just cannot do much of anything.

Guess I better go have my breakfast, want to peel some apples for an apple crisp, I cannot put it in the oven so if every thing s ready CNA can do that and take it out when it is baked.

Have a good day and stay safe.

This is reported to be the coolest spring we have had in 20 years and I believe it.  The weather forecast is calling for a frost this weekend.  The heat pump is still going strong and feels good.

Rosemary, I confess to some envy of your gardening.  I am no longer able to do that and my garden has mostly turned to weeds and out-of-control English ivy, wild strawberry, Virginia Creeper and other unknown things.  The ferns keep fighting for survival.  I don't worry about it too much except to ask my son to keep the house from being enveloped.  I wasn't a very good gardener but enjoyed being out of doors.  My approach to gardening was to plant something and then intone the mantra over it...."Now GROW, dammit!"  Sometimes it worked.

I'm glad to see all of our group are back from wherever that place is that we go when our computers aren't working.  I always think we are "out there" somewhere floating around in space trying so hard to find our way back.  It's always such a relief when everyone comes home again.

Take care, All.

I take hubby each morning out for a Timmies....and on our way into town noticed vehicles heading south with a good inch of snow on them    We said to each other must be folks from way up north only to find out as we came closer to town it was there!!!

Phoned my friend who lives north of us to say no crushed pineapple in the store only to find out they had 2-3 inches of snow........told her not to share please.

If someone sees Spring tell her to get her hinney up here!!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It sounds like we're all having the same kind of weather.  Ours is predicted to be below freezing overnight and rain all day today turning to snow overnight.  I'm going out and try to cover the plants that are already in bud and the ones that are just peeking their noses out.  Christy was supposed to come to start the gardening tomorrow.  I wonder how weeds feel when you pull them out of the snow?

My visit with the orthopedic dr this morning via computer was pretty good.  My understanding of "healing" in the report I got yesterday was true.  He enlarged on that and said that it looks to be healing well and I can do whatever I want or feel like I can with that arm.  No restrictions.  Just continue all the exercise and keep doing whatever I've been doing.  Sounds good to me!

AMY, that place you go for fish dinners sounds like a winner!  It also sounds like a local place and not part of a large chain.  Sometimes, the locals are the best.

I have to go out and try to cover my rhododendrons and a couple other things before the freezing weather sets in.  The rhodos have buds on them and I don't want them to freeze.  My dogwood trees are budding too but they're way to big to cover.  I hope they're hardy!

I guess I better get started with the covering because I'm sure it will take me longer than usual.  That "no restrictions" thing sure doesn't mean I'm back to normal yet.  I can do lots of stuff.  It just takes time!  But my mantra sets in...."Where there's a will, there's a way".  I can do it!

You all have a wonderful day!
Make it your own in every way!

And don't forget to share!

 Yea, Janie, on the healing...

Bummer you & Amy (& others) going to freeze & get snow. We are way into spring.

I've been on the phone with 3 Cox people already this morning, same old problem of off & on... but like last time, the phones work but not internet. I am out of patience with being confined and NO INTERNET? :tickedoff:   It is instant on & off so very irritating. A tech will come tomorrow to check outside (as if that will help!) but no inside jobs yet. I may sleep until that time. Don't worry if I can't get in here, internet & not my fault.  :tissue:

Rosemary

Good afternoon everyone - our weather has gone off too, and is now cloudy and damp, with heavy rain forecast. I might need to bring those marigolds into my new mini greenhouse tonight I think. My dwarf rhododendron is also about to flower and i don't have any garden fleece. but I will try using bubble wrap. Must try to remember to do it before dinner, I don't want to be wandering about out there in my dressing gown in the dark (though it wouldn't be the first time...)

Today we went early to B & Q for hardware supplies, and I was able to pick up a few plants and gardening things.  Then I had to queue for Asda - I got a lot of groceries there that our local shops do not have, but I was still jolly glad to get out again, I think I am becoming paranoid.  So glad to get back to the house and hear nothing but the birds and the river (and my husband now sanding something down - I don't know what he would do at the moment if he hadn't found all this DIY to catch up on...)

My mother emailed me to ask me to send her a number of things, which I can and will do, but one of them was yoghurt!! I'm not sure what she was thinking of, as it would need not only to survive the postal service but then would be quarantined by their housekeeper for another 3 days. So she will have to get someone else to buy her that. I am making her a parcel with fudge, biscuits, dried fruit, toothpaste, and other stuff she requested.

Callie, just make sure you have the subtitles on for Derry Girls. We struggle to understand what they are saying sometimes, and I have an Irish best friend and a daughter-in-law who comes from Ballymena! But with the subtitles it is brilliant.

Amy, we used to love Tim Horton's when we lived in Newfoundland - we had never had muffins like those before, so delicious. The other thing my husband was talking about the other day was taters - I don't know if they are just a Newfie thing?  He was wondering what seasoning they use to make them taste as they do.

Phyllis - I wouldn't worry about your garden, the big thing here now is to garden for wildlife and let at least part of your plot 'run wild', with lots of undergrowth for the birds and insects to enjoy. Ivy is especially good for them. I would like to do that myself but my husband would never be able to stand it! I do have a little pile of twigs that I make him leave in place, as these are meant to provide overwintering shelter for insects. And I am still working on that idea for a pond.

Gloria - your town sounds to me like the one in Murder She Wrote! Is it anything like that at all? You do look a lot like Jessica in your photo.

I have just missed a call from one of my daughters, so i had better get off here now for a while.

Have a good day everyone,

Rosemary

GOOD MORNING, EVERYFRIEND 💐

So happy to be here and welcome back to everyone that made it back in also!

JANE, so happy to read the good report from your orthopedic doctor.  Sounds like you have done everything right and you are healing well🥰

So nice to see your newsy post, ROSEMARY.  Happy to see you joining in here with us.

SHIRLEY, I am sad you are having problems with your internet.....so frustrating and just not nice to have to deal with this.  We have our issues with our cable company as well, and blame a lot of it on the internet is just stretched to its limit with every one working from home.

WOW, AMY.....that is a load of snow for this time of the year!  Sure glad you did not get that at your house.  I have heard that some cancer treatments have been cancelled.  This virus is a scary thing🙏  Your fish take out sure sounded yummy.....glad the got the "wiggle" out of it for you 🤣🤣🤣

PHYLLIS, it is good to see you....boy did I miss our group.....

GLORIA, it is sad to remember what our areas were like back in the day, and now see what they have become.  Your community still seems very quaint.  Enjoy the Apple Crisp when it is done and the visit from your special friend, your CNA💞💞

BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES 🎂 JOY 🎉   How exciting to know that you will be able to be with your youngest son on Mother's Day 💗

I got on my iPad to look at the outdoor cameras to see if the grass watered out front and saw my youngest son scurrying up to the door with a beautiful flower arrangement and a gift..... this was around 7:15 AM.  I was SO excited to see him and watched him come and go, but it made me sad to know that he was RIGHT HERE and I did not get to see him in person😢😢

It is another beautiful day, so I am going to get outside and get me some Vitimin C🌞🌞🌞

Enjoy your day 💗

I'm off to Dreamland.  I got the plants covered.  If we don't get high wind with the snow, they should be Ok.

I made barbecued hamburger for supper over my very old recipe which for some reason just happened to turn up on my desk one day.  It's pretty much the way I remembered making it all these years and it was pretty good.

I hope you all had it good day and I hope your computers all behave from now on.  I need to get a new keyboard.  I think all those years of having Kiran after school and having her eat her snacks while she played games on the computer have begun to show up on the keybard.  But that's not going to happen until I can go look at them in person.

Things are beginning to open in my town and the dog groomers have been allowed to open but the "people groomers" aren't so my hair just keeps growing.  I finally figured out what my hair looks like.  It lookes like Grandpa Walton's on The Walton's show except I have a little more in the font.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tmorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
