🌺🌺  HAPPY MEMORIAL/ DECORATION DAY TO EVERYFRIEND 🇺🇸🇺🇸

No big plans for the day, other than going to cemeteries to put flowers on every family members grave, but sadly, ONLY in my mind.

My maternal grandmother grew the most beautiful flowers in her garden and on Memorial Day, off to all the family graves she went to put flowers on each and every one of them.  She never missed one single one🥰🥰 She had the most spectacular bearded Iris....They were huge and so colorful.  Peonies we always a part of the bouquets.

We had rain pretty much all day long yesterday.  It was dark and dreary, but boy is it nice and greeN and beautiful today.  Temp is rather cool, but we will start to warm up tomorrow.

I hope you all enjoy a special day.  I will add some to the number we are looking for, but I am one of the younger ones here in our special group....I am 72 and a half on the 30th😘

Jane, I thought I wrote a message yesterday, but in checking back, I couldn't find it. I am wondering if I failed to hit the "post" button???  I was almost sure that I had written something.   I have just not been on the computer for a couple days.  Just being very lazy and kind of in a "fluky" mood.  (if that is such a word. LOL )

Like Gloria, I am just so sleepy most of the time.  I sit down to read, and fall asleep.  I was supposed to get my hair done again today, but I had a chance to go out for a little bit, so I cancelled the hair appt.  My DIL took me down the road to a produce stand/nursery, and I was so disappointed that they didn't have much produce.  Loads and loads of every kind of flower you could think of, but very little produce. I did get some good black cherries, some white corn and a couple tomatoes. They also had cantalopes, and that was the extent of their produce. The cantalopes were too big.  I had one a couple weeks ago, and it was just way too much, but I did manage to eat almost all of it.  I had some of the corn for dinner and just finished some of the cherries.

Jane, thanks for asking for me.  I will just have to try to get here more often, even if I don't have much to say.

Have a good rest of this Holiday week end.

Well,  if we're going to get technical,  I'm 84 and 5/12 years old...plus 2 days.  Hope that doesn't mess up your statistics, Janie.  ;D  :smitten:

Shirley,  according to the radar on the 6:00 news, "our" rain is coming up from the Gulf of Mexico.  I don't know anyone in that direction to direct it someplace else.
It's drizzled here all day long and was dark enough at 7:00 to close the blinds - even though sunset isn't until 8:30ish. Supposed to be the same tomorrow and then sunny the rest of the week.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

JaneS

JOY, it's OK with me if you have "fluky" feelings.  I just hope they don't last very long.  I even think I know what they feel like.  I just never knew what to call them.  Now I do.

CALLIE, the rain that's coming North to you is passing through the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Cindy who lives in the Dallas suburbs said today was a dark, rainy, dreary day!

Also, I gave you the 1/2 year and I'm not changing it.  I never did like doing fractions in school and (HALLELUJAH!!) I don't have to deal with them now except in recipes.

And speaking of recipes...I'm going to need a new set of measuring cups and spoons.  Does anyone know where you can get a set of cups that only has 1/2s and 1/4s and no thirds?  And can you get a set of 8 or more spoons that only have tsps. tbsps. and 1/2 tsps.?  I'd like the cups to have about 3 of each that I need and the spoons to come in sets of 5 each.  I seem to have multiple 1/3s of the cups and multiple 1/2Tbsp and Tsps.  What happens to the ones I use most of the time.  Is there some kind of measuring cup/spoon elf around who is stealing the good stuff?

Oh well, I think I'll just do like Scarlett O'Hara and "think about that tomorrow".  Right now, I'm going to bed.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I am totally wiped out tonight. One cat sitting on the step trying to decide if this whole night will be rainy or if she wants to stay out.... Tom is out there but hiding right this minute. He does not like getting wet but at least it isn't lightning or thundering, so think he might rather stay out. Tiger has already headed to the bedroom so will make up her mind about the time I crawl into bed. They really do believe I live just to do their bidding. They had their midnight snack and I started to eat a bite but it waits until I have a second to call my own.

Good night, sweet dreams and God Bless! Tomorrow is Tuesday so my head is already messed up! Hugs to all.  Shirley

Today is going to be a busy one. Will get out to the garden centre and pick up tomato plants early this morning. Home to finish up the garden and chase dust bunnies in the house. Kyle finished the trug, this is the 7th one he has made and folks will come later on today to pick them up.

Better get at it as the store opens at 8 and t5here is usually a line up to get in....

Enjoy your day everyone...stay safe.

Good afternoon all - it is a sunny day here on Deeside, the birds are singing in the woods opposite, and the brook is gurgling away.

I finally got my car back yesterday evening, so I am mobile again, though of course we are not supposed to go anywhere much.

All I have accomplished so far today is making a chilli for dinner, collecting Gracie's meds from the vet (Shirley - I too am a slave to the feline, though only one these days. Gracie demanded food what felt like every 5 minutes this morning, though thankfully she is now having a snooze), and doing laundry. I will go for a walk soon - I tried going earlier yesterday though, and I spent my entire time getting out of the way of mad keen cyclists who do not appear to know the meaning of social distancing.

Last night I watched an episode of The Mallorca Files - it is a detective series set in Majorca/Mallorca, and very easy viewing. My husband thought it was ridiculous, and of course it was, but sometimes I just want something undemanding :)

I have also done my weekly return for the British Ornithology Trust's Garden Birdwatch - I have realised that I report almost exactly the same birds every week, always robins, blackbirds, blue tits, sparrows, jackdaws, woodpigeons and mallard ducks, and sometimes also the heron, a grey wagtail or a chaffinch. I suppose at least that means the regulars must approve of my garden.

I heard from a friend this week who is doing the shopping for her mother, who lives in a bungalow on very lovely retirement development near here.  The mother is not that old, and still drives, but she is a very nervous person and her husband did absolutely everything for her until he died a few years ago - as a result she needs Karen to do even little things (even in normal times, when she does go out to meet friends, etc) like getting money from the ATM. When the lockdown first started Karen had a lot of trouble trying to persuade her to stay home, but now she is too terrified to go out, and Karen is just hoping that she will be able to overcome this when it is safer. It would limit her life a lot if she felt unable to socialise. I do think this is going to be a problem for many people, at least at first. Meanwhile my own mother is champing at the bit to get out, and I don't think she is quite aware of how long she may have to wait, given her age. I am not going to say anything for now - hopefully we will soon at least be able to visit and take her for a drive in the car.

I hope you all have a good day.

Rosemary

Have to just say "Hello".

I have been up a long time, but have not got much done.  Spend more time trying to get a Walmart order to go through.  My computer just didn't want to cooperate.  Finally got through to them on the phone, and it had gone through. Although it didn't show up on my account.  But, it already had been put on my Discover card account.  And, I was assured it did go through.

Jane, I will add my " number 86 " to your total.  Maybe we can get it up to " 1,000". eventually.

I just had a birthday the first part of May, so I don't have any extra numbers to add to it now.  That will make  " 652 "  the total now.  I kept forgetting to add it on,

I know Shirley and I are just about the same age.

IT is getting close to my lunch time,  since I ate breakfast a little later this morning. I still have a slice of pizza left  over from the other day, so that will be my lunch.

Have a great day and stay safe.

Good morning 🌞  EVERYFRIEND  🌞

It is a beautiful morning here in the Mile High City 💐 Everything is so green and beautiful out my sliding glass door.  It is still a bit too cool to open it and head out on the deck, but it won't be long until I can go out.

I sure enjoyed all of the posts this morning.

AMY, if only I could be one of the lucky people to come by and pick up a thug/trug🤣🤣🤣🤣 I do smile as I think of how happy Kyle is to make them and how much everyone enjoys them!  I hope you find some nice tomato plants today.

ROSEMARY, I like your word "undemanding", and I plan to use it the next time I try to explain why I only want to watch a simple comedy rather than a detailed show!  Bless your friend that is having to do so much for her mom.  Happy for you to have your wheels back again.  Sadly, many today do not seem to care much about trying to social distance.  After watching the world news last night, I have to admit the way people are going to beaches, etc. and showing no caution at all, I am fearful all of our quarantined time may be going down the tube very quickly.  I think a lot of people are going to have trouble feeling safe to go out again.  I hope you will be able to take your mama for a drive soon😻

JOY, I think a lot of people are sharing your "fluky" mood these days.  This is one CrAzY world we are living in right now.  I am happy you were able to get out to the produce stand, but I know you were disappointed to not find many vegetables.  Soon, I hope!  Take care of your self😘

ROLY, happy to read the nurse was happy with how well you are doing.  Keep it up now and feel stronger every day.

Nice to see your quick post, MARY.  Did you get a lot of rain down your way?

JANE, I do believe there is a measuring spoon/cup elf out there as mine go missing quite often.....🤣🤣🤣. I need to borrow your Scarlett O'Hara quote, I will "think about that tomorrow", as I am over using maƱana!

WHAT CALLIE, no hours, minutes or seconds on your age?? 🤪🤪🤪

SHIRLY, you are one very special cat mama, for all you do for your kitties😘

Have a great day💐💐

Are they still teaching the "New Math"?  I recall my younger son doing a division problem with "New Math". It looked like he was using a whole sheet of paper for each problem. I showed him how to do Long Division and he thought it was much easier. Then we went on to Short Division. After he got into carpentry he seemed to have his own way of doing math.
If you're still adding years of experience you van have my 86.

Shirley

Well, Rick, I'm signing off same time you posted only an hour later CST.... I've never been too good at math. I did learn the "new" math when my daughter had it in grade school, but much like I had been doing all my life. Sort of rounding off or up with the numbers & then subtracting what was needed to make it accurate. Now everything is "close enough for me!"

Today has been a corker, phones dropping calls constantly, try talking to a company that put a new roof on the RV last Sept/Oct to see what they will do about it leaking (think it was $7,000-$9,000 cost to completely replace because of hail. It was MY fault because I didn't do "routine maintenance" like sealing the skylight. I'm sure the guy told me it was good until next fall...today it was good for only 6-7 months and they put it on a little over 7 months ago. They did agree to re-seal it next week. I found moisture in the storage compartments on the opposite side of the RV yesterday when sorting... so water damage from roof to all parts under that sheeting.

Cox can't seem to find why my calls drop even after I bought new phones and a new top of the line router, and the re-made eye glasses are not working out at all, when looking out the door I notice the door facings are curved until I take glasses off. Not sure how that will affect driving.  :o  I called to talk to the place that made the glasses and was giving them my cell phone number since the calls had been dropping all day...got cut off and they wouldn't pick up on a call that shows "unknown". I gave up & drove to the store & swapped glasses back with the first pair, doors didn't curve with them, but they had put in a bifocal that I couldn't see out of at all. I don't need glasses to read but for distance & the bifocal was to see distance like the speedometer, didn't work.

Then to top off my great day, the rotisserie chicken I bought for the cats yesterday, they wouldn't eat a bite of tonight! They came inside to eat, smelled what it was & walked away. They are so spoiled. I put all 3 dishes out in the pool area and watched as they let a stray cat come in and clean out every bowl! I didn't give them more until just now, they got their midnight snack of splitting a can of Friskies salmon.

Guess I'd better shut up & go to bed, got up very early to help #1 son change oil in the RV and change oil in the RV generator. He will check tires & hydraulic fluid before we go to Colorado, I do insist paying him more than the dealer charges, but he is more thorough than they are!

Now it is after midnight, been sitting here thinking more than an hour. My daughter is driving in tomorrow, first time since we met in KC for my brother's funeral & that was the last week of any type getting out because of the virus. Tomorrow is going to be better, I got out a box of Russell Stover turtles as a special treat.... bought them 75% off after Easter & put in the little frig downstairs. Nothing makes the day happier than a pecan turtle! Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.  Shirley

Rosemary

Good morning - it is another fine sunny day here on Deeside. Yesterday I had two great walks, the first along the Dee, where I saw the heron standing nearer than he had ever been before, totally unbothered by my presence, and the second along the old railway line.

Roley - whereabouts do you and your granddaughter live? I am in Scotland, and in past times have seen dolphins swimming off the coast of Cullen, a fishing town on the NE coast.

Shirley - I am so sorry so many things went wrong yesterday.  Whenever we have a problem with our landline phones, I call British Telecome (who are the absolute WORST company in the UK in my opinion) and all you get is a call centre somewhere in Asia from which someone reads out instructions. If you try to ask questions they are unable to deal with them and just keep repeating the same incomprehensible technical jargon. You are told (at least I think you are told...) to do various checks (most of which I don't understand) and only get back to them after that. If you then call them out and they deduce that the fault is not theirs, there is an automatic call out charge. I hate them with a vengeance. When you go onto their website to try to find the answer to your problem (as they repeatedly tell you to do during the interminable and expensive wait for the one available person) all you get are endless pages telling you why you should upgrade to faster internet - fundamentally BUY something. None of these companies want to deal with cheapskates like me who only want the basic service. Goodness me, I sound more and more like my mother every day....!

And I do hope you get your glasses sorted, that all sounds so annoying. The last time my husband got new glasses he had to take them back and get different ones, he was not impressed with Specsavers - whereas I use a different branch and that one has always been excellent.

Amy - I don't know how you do so much stuff every day!  I didn't even get out ofbed till past 10 this morning (though was awake form 5.30am).

Have a great day everyone,

Rosemary

Me again - I am so sorry but I have forgotten who it was who was talking about their connections to Scotland via the mining industry. I just wanted to let you know that our central library did a blog post yesterday inviting people to email them with their local and family history questions, as they are still working away doing research. So I sent them your information and I will let you know if they come up with anything.

Good Morning everyone. well I am up but not at them. I do not breath well anymore. and I do not know where common since went? when I was in high school was algebra was the math, I could not master it either, just simple add & subtract and divide was a load for me, was not good English student either. I was more look and see and do.if i see you do something I could do it also and usually as good and sometimes better. I went to work after school and weekends in a blacksmith shop cranking the hand blower on the forge and stoking the fire in it at seven years of age, and forge welding, with iron shaving's and 20 mule team borax, yes you ladies used it as dish and laundry soap. when not working in blacksmith shop helped my brother deliver papers and grocery's and mow yards for older people in town. Have a good day.
