Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

I can't seem to generate an interest in either of my two new gift books,  so I'm going to put them aside for a while, and find other things to read.  I haven't decided what,  but I may take a short drive to the library this afternoon, and see what's new  (or old)  in LARGE print.

A few weeks ago,  I watched a good older movie from 1989 . . . Field Of Dreams,  starring Kevin Costner,  James Earle Jones,  Burt Lancaster and others.  I highly recommend it to everyone here, even if you saw it back when It was in theaters.  The theme will mean much more to you now that you're 35 years older than you were the last time you saw it!  It's a "feel good" movie with a unique storyline . . .  a mixture of fantasy and reality.  I had forgotten about it, but now that I've rediscovered it, I hope others will also.  The color has faded over the years, so the cornfield and the baseball diamond aren't as bright as they were when the movie was new, but that doesn't detract from the magical story.  It's playing for free, on Amazon Prime.

I was gifted a copy of George Stephanopoulos's latest book: "THE SITUATION ROOM" yesterday for my birthday.  First, I feel compelled to comment, indeed exclaim over the price of books these days!  Wowzer!
Second, I am thrilled to pieces at having this great History book, and can barely wait to finish some other stuff and jump into it.
Strongly recommend it, ahead of my own reading, to all who love a minute by minute recounting of momentous historical events as told by a fabulous and hugely personally experienced raconteur.

Mary Page -  Your Birthday was yesterday, the 24th? 🤔
The birthday's of our members are not posted like they used to be in the past??   I think there is a list, located somewhere here in S&F, but I don't know where it is?
Age 95 is another milestone,  so I hope you celebrated with some of your family members, and had a  cake or cupcake to enjoy, and some of that special ice cream that you like.
Wishing you a belated   HAPPY BIRTHDAY,   and hoping your day was a good one!

Oh, Marilyne, I had a whole week of wonderful.  I am too old for going out to dance the light fantastic or whatever, but the cards and the flowers and the phone calls and the emails have just POURED in, and it has made my heart swell up to a fare thee well.  On Tuesday, Becky drove me down to the community pier, where we joined half a dozen others in watching the Blue Angel's practice in the blue, blue skies for their Naval Academy graduation routine.  We always get to see them twice, because the Wednesday sudden roar overhead announces their presence once again to display the real show!  This time, we watched from our own pier.  But it was great fun being with those locals on Tuesday, because when Becky told them I was turning 95, they broke into spontaneous applause.  Hey, they weren't so young themselves:  grey and white hair dominated.  Graduation was yesterday, and I am proud to report that the number one middie was a female, as is the new Academy Superintendent and as is the Secretary of Defense who came to the ceremony.  Woo hoo!  And I got heaps of presents.
Our weather has held, the storms have gone elsewhere, our skies have been beautifully blue with puffy little white clouds circling the horizon and sunshine poured extravagantly over all.
God's been in HER heaven, and all's right with our local world.
Of course, what with the families that pour into town for graduation, and the Memorial Day Holiday, we have not been taking to local roads, or any roads whatsoever. But the attention I have received from children, granddaughters and great grands has felt like a triumph I could never have imagined. I am blessed!

Oh, and Thursday we settled down to an Aftahnoon Tea of tiny sandwiches and little cakes, just three of my girls and me.  Well, Steve was allowed in, but he did not get much chance to join the conversation, which tumbled all over the place at once.

Last night I enjoyed a splendid dinner followed by Debi's creation of the most yummy cake in the World: chocolate fudge with chocolate fudge icing.  And yes, we had our choice of a fantastic list of ice cream flavors from Homer's in Chicago.  I chose the pink Peppermint candy one, which, in combination with the fudge cake, makes for a Happy Tummy!

MarsGal

What a very Happy Birthday you had, MaryPage. It sounds so marvelous. Lots of family and good weather, and the graduation festivities adding to the fun.

Marilyne

Mary Page,  What a wonderful Birthday Celebration you had.  I would have loved to join you for the Afternoon Tea!  The tiny sandwiches and little cakes sound delicious.  Yes, it was Homer's Ice Cream in Chicago, that you had mentioned in the past.  I plan to look at the website later, and see if they deliver to California?

MaryPage

Oh yes, absolutely!
Homer's will mail to you anywhere, all packed in dry ice and coming to you well frozen.  I always order the special of 9 pints for a hundred and something.  You can pick all one flavor or nine different flavors or whatever combination you choose.  Me, I like to order mostly the Spumoni, which is beyond price.  I recommend the peppermint and the coffee toffee, as well and all.  Every flavor is outstanding.  My son-in-law Greg introduced me to Homer's.  He also introduced me, years and years ago, to Nueske's Bacon.  Best in the WORLD!

so_P_bubble

MaryPage, you make me drool...
I wish these two would deliver to Israel!

MaryPage

Bubble, there you are!
How do we move up from, say, page 740 to page 746 where it is a given that page #746 is our current place to move on from AND have our place move automatically up to that higher number the next time we come in to post?  Rammel is unfamiliar with such a trick.  So am I, the totally untutured idiot, but my son used to do it for me constantly and seemingly easily, while no one here knows that magic.  I've been hoping you might know it and instruct us accordingly.
