Marilyn, tough on your puppies - and tough on you and Keith, too.  How long is the drive when you do the actual move?  Hang in there!

Nothing going on this week at all.  Obviously, all of us are in the summer-do-nothings.  ;D
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Mary We move Saturday it is about 4.5 hours

jane

Marilyn...you've really gotten a lot done in a short amount of time.

Mary...same here the lazy, hazy days of summer.  I've been over for my blood draw, emailed a message about my present health situation to the rheumatology people, and will go back for the bone density scan at 1:15.

Hope all the other Buddies are doing well and having stressfree summer days.

Stay healthy and happy and safe,

jane

jane

And it's Thursday again!  We're supposed to get rain, but it doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry.  The temps are comfortable, so I took this lazy body out for a bit of a walk.

I'm in the process of decreasing the prednisone, per provider's message.  Now on 12.5 for a week, then 10 until I see Dr. Singh.

Nothing exciting here...

Stay safe and well!

A rather boring day here today .   Tomorrow a tree sevice is coming to cut down an oak tree that has damage to it from a wind storm we had last November .  A heavy branch broke off , fell on a chain link fence .  The tree is heavy now on one side & could have further damage from wind if it is left .
Its my shopping day , so I hope to get out of here before they come & block the garage so I can't get out .

SharonE

Hi Gals, Well, Marilyn, the long awaited day is all but here. You & K and the dogs will have some adjusting to do, but I'm sure it will be for the better. 4.5 hrs isn't too bad.

Jane, glad you're home and that your weather is better. Hope the prednisone is helping the pain.

Darlene, they have said it is not Parkinsons, at least not yet, but about 50% of people can develop it after the essential tremor. Hoping not at my age.

My knee is still pretty painful and I went in for a follow-up today and he drained  60cc if bloody fluid out of it, so it feels a little better. Then the PT guy came and put me through my paces, so feeling tired now. Have an ice pack on it.

Tomorrow, I go in early for a CT scan of my skull, the final test necessary for the brain procedure. So not much news here except medical.

Alpiner, you're smart to get the tree cut if it is a danger to your house. Hard to see pretty trees go though. All for now. Sharon

Good to see you, Alpiner, and good plan on getting the tree taken care of.  We've had several trees removed...walnut ones that are a royal pain to have in a yard.  They kill any plants and the walnuts are so dangerous on the ground as tripping and falling hazards...at least for me.

Sharon...Is that liquid there normal after surgery....sounds very painful.

I got the results from my blood work...Vit D appears low; inflammation is lower, but still above the top of normal and CRP is at top  of normal.  I found the bone density results, and it appears that they're as good as or better than 2018.

So, I've reduced the prednisone, but think it'll be with me for a while.

Still no rain here.

jane

maryz

We had a lot of trees in our yard, and we hated it when we had to have one taken down. But we had a number of them fall during storms, so we were always on the lookout.

Hang in there, Sharon. I hope all this works out sooner rather than later.

jane, glad you're getting to decrease your prednisone. It is a great medication, though - even with its side effects.

Marilyn, I'm glad your trip isn't any longer.  Hope it's a safe one and without major incidents.

Tennessee hot and humid for the next week. Welcome to Summer!

We have an acre of land & the oak tree is  away from the house in the back yard .

Cottoncandy

Hi everyone...it's a bit cooler here today...even sat on the deck for awhile Marlyin...safe travels on your move...Jane I have taken prednisone before..it is a good med...short term...Sharon...hope your pain goes away...how is one tested for Parkinson's..X-ray? Mary your temps sounds like here. In Texas...August the worse..Hi to Alpiner and any others looking in....

jane

Heavy rain predicted for tonight, so I'm finishing breakfast and then off to Dbq for a larger grocery where I hope to find a few items.  The store is on the west side of Dbq, so easy for me to get to. There's so much construction on way to CR, I decided to try Dbq store.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jane

SharonE

Got my CT scan this AM. The report from the radiologist showed it as normal, but that isn't the reading from the neurosurgeon who has yet to read it.

Jane, it isn't unusual to develop fluid in the knee after surgery. He told me in advance I might have it. It is better since the draining, but the PT really tired me out.  Good news on the bone density. Sounds like an increase in Vit D3 will take care of that deficiency. Glad you can decrease the prednisone a bit.

Darlene, I think, primarily, they diagnose from visual observation on movements etc., but I'm really not sure. That's all they have done with me.

Back to the trees, Brian bought a house built in the 80's and it had so many huge trees in the yard, many of them elms with elm disease, and others just old or dangerous, so they had to have about 10 trees removed. They have replaced several, but of course they are much smaller. They hated doing it, but it really opened up their yard.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I need to eat and then do my PT. Sharon

alpiner1

The tree service came a bit earlier then expected & they finished just before noon .  The man in charge wanted to buy our property , he liked the location & how it is situated .  Hubby told him he plans to stay here until he dies or we go to assisted living !  We had this house built & have lived here for 46 years !

jane

Alpiner...hurrah on having the tree taken care of!

Sharon...glad getting the fluid off helped and was to be expected.

Rheumatologist called me back twice today.  She wants me to continue at 15 mg prednisone until the SED rate is back in the normal range...or in my case, until my appt with the doctor July 7.  Then she called to say to go to that appt 15 min. early and get blood work done there at their clinic.

I went to Dbq this morning and could have saved myself  the trip.  Disappointed that I could only get 2 of my 4 items. So, I was over and back (90 miles roundtrip) by 10:30 am.  I hate when the "big" store doesn't have what I want.

No rain here....even though they continue to talk of "heavy rain."  Again all around us.

Stay healthy and safe,

jane

jane

Apparently some rain last night, though I didn't hear it.  And a few, sparse drops when I went to WalMart for my D3 vitamin.  Not too many people there this morning.

Have a good Saturday!

Jane

I hope Marilyn and K and the pups are all safely in their new home in CA!  What a relief it will be for her to be in a home where she can breathe comfortably.  I hope K adjusts and doesn't make Marilyn's life more distruptive.  At least she now has family near that care about her.

It's quite a nice day here...mid 70s and humidity only starting to rise.  I walked a mile this morning, and want to do some more steps in a bit.

I made the mistake of taking Melatonin and whomp!whomp! did it knock me for a loop.
It made me so tired and sleepy during the day and my brain foggy.  No more of that for this old girl.

Nothing exciting here...have some laundry going and want to do another shorter walk in a bit and then have a salad for lunch.

I think reading and watching Hallmark Channel is my afternoon's entertainement.

Take care, Dear Buddies!

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals. Hope everyone is having a nice Sunday. I have finished up our laundry and done my PT and cooked some eggs and macaroni which I have chilling to make a tuna/pasta salad for dinner. One of my favorite summer dishes. I still have to go organize my meds and finish putting the salad together, make the dressing, etc.

Our weather has been in the low 80's but is now heading up into the 90's again. Threat of summer showers at 30-40% all week.

Oh, I forgot to say that my passport arrived Friday, but John's hasn't yet. I had expedited mine because I sent it in later.

I watered and dead-headed my hanging petunia plant on the balcony yesterday and this morning I heard a thump and it fell straight down on the floor. I guess the hook wasn't through the chain enough or the weight of the water pulled it down. Of course the plastic pot split, so don't know what I'll do with it. We don't have any extra anymore.

Jane, it sounds like your Dr is keeping close watch on you. That's good. So often they don't. I'm glad that you're able to get out and walk some more.

I've had Marilyn and K & pups on my mind this weekend too. I hope she posts sometime soon and lets us know how things are going.

Hi to all. I need to go get my meds done.  Sharon

jane

Wake up, Buddies!  Another Monday morning...and the last one in June!

It's a mid 70s and overcast day, so I strapped on my sandals and took this body on a walk to town.  Glad to be home.  I still wear out on the way back.

I probably need to go to the grocery, but it'll have to be later.  Nothing major I need...just some more cheese curds.

Time to also catch up on the end of the month bookkeeping.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

MaryPage

Hi! Just popping in to say hello. Haven't posted in here for 4½ years now. Wondering how each of you are, and the only way to find out, actually, is to pop in and ask. So how are you? Anyone who remembers me? Sharon?

maryz

MaryPage, how wonderful to see you back!!!  I have such good memories of our visit!

jane, love those cheese curds - definitely worth a trip. (But not a fan of poutine!)  Supposed to be in the 90s for the next couple of days, then a cool front with showers and slightly lower temps.

Marilyn, I hope you're all moved in. It's a shame you had to battle the awful heat out there, as well as going through the moving trauma. Good luck with the getting settled part.

Sharon, I hope the knee is still doing okay. Don't overdo.  When is your trip?  Our week at the beach is coming up. We leave a week from Saturday.

Hi alpiner, Darlene, Jeanne, and all others checking it.  Stay cool!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

MaryPage

Thank you, Mary. Everything pretty much the same around here in the greatest little city in the world; yet everything has changed.  Is your granddaughter still living here?  If so, I'll bet she's loving it.

I still love Annapolis, but, by choice, do not get out and about much these days. Two years ago, along about this time, we celebrated my 90th birthday.  Everyone in my immediate family.  That day blew me away, and I completely forgot the speech I'd meant to give.  The entertainment from various kin was amazing.  I am still stunned every time I recollect. That was pre-pandemic.

The most wonderful miracle to my sensibilities was that everyone came.  The last time they'd all been together was July 2005, so a lot of little kids had grown just a whole lot taller and were legally adults.

So now a date has been chosen for my 100th, with everyone sworn to come. One granddaughter swears she will arrive with a string of grandchildren of her own in tow.  I believe it, even though none have been born as yet. Two of my great granddaughters have finished college and are living with young men they intend to marry. Life becomes an ever swifter flowing river, and will soon take me out to sea.  Remember The Chambered Nautilus by Oliver Wendell Holmes?  I had to memorize that in the 7th grade, back when memorization was a strong teaching tool.  Actually, I've been very grateful for having come up in those times, as I can completely forget this morning, yesterday, and last week, but can pull up those remembered words:

"Build thee more stately mansions, Oh my soul!
As the swift seasons roll
Leave thy low vaulted past.
Let each new temple, nobler than the last,
Shield thee from Heaven with a dome more vast
'Til thou at last art free.
Leaving thine outgrown shell
By Life's unresting sea.

O.W. Holmes

jane

MaryPage!  What a delight to see your similing face here today.  We've missed you! Do come back often.

jane

SharonE

Mary Page, what a delight to see your post! I can't believe you're 92, but then I'll be 82 this fall. I'm glad your family is still so close and supportive. The party sounded wonderful! My friend and neighbor was in her 90's and each birthday, I told her to hang in there for her 100th and I'd dance on the table at her party!! (Sure I would have!  ;D )However, she only made it to 99. I still miss her.  Since you've been gone, John and I have moved into a villa in a Sr. Center where I don't have to cook or clean, but we can still have our furbaby. There are activities to go to if we want. I play bridge on Tuesdays and other things when they interest me. We had another grandson graduate from college and was commissioned in the AF, so we went to St. Louis area for a family party to celebrate 2 weeks ago, the first get together of the pandemic. We're expecting our 4th great grandchild, a girl finally, any day.  Anytime I hear mention of Annapolis, I think of you. Stay well and do pop in when you can.  Sharon

Good rainy Tuesday, Buddies!

I decided I needed to get my walk in or it wouldn't happen. So, grabbed a small umbrella and off I went...walking in the rain.  It was very light and delightful, actually...so fresh and clean smelling.  So, that's finished.

I need to go through some drawers and get rid of old cosmetics...havent' worn any for a year or so...so time to discard and keep only what I'll use.

Power went out last night sometime...so had my kitchen appliances to reset this morning.
More thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon.

I hope Marilyn is settling in her new place without a problem.

Stay cool and healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Good afternoon Buddies...we had rain yesterday and looks like may start up again..I did get my walk in...took care of some blueberry I bought...hoping Marlyin is getting settle in to her new home..haven't seen a post from Jeanne lately... but 4th of July right around the corner..no plans for it...reading and TV...Hi to everyone reading...hope all is well..

maryz

MaryPage, glad to get all your news.  My grands are still in Annapolis, with excitement in their lives since being with you. They fostered four kids for several years (currently ages 13 through 4). The kids have just gone back to their mother, so it's another big change for them.

jane, we're getting some rain here, too - the remnants of TS Danny. That storm came ashore last night right over my SC granddaughter. They're okay, but were without power for a while. It should have gone over Sharon last night, too.

No plans here for the Fourth, either, although I'm sure there'll be a lot of fireworks being shot off all weekend long.

Happy Tuesday, Buddies!

Wednesday greetings...Hump Day!

I'm following Darlene's way and walked this morning.  I'm still pretty slow on the return trip, but getting it done.  I've had breakfast and talked to my sister. She's going to have her kids and grands and great grands get together at a place she's used before that's near all of them on a Wed. or Thurs. night, so I can see them all at once and not interrupt their weekend plans.

Nothing exciting here.  No 4th of July things here in town...they wait until the next week when the County Fair opens for fireworks, parades, etc.  I'll be gone that week to Ohio, so that's ok, too.

It looks as if my neighbor girl had a sleep out last night...two tents in the yard this morning when I walked.  Fun!

It's hard to believe 1/3 of the summer is gone.  I go by the meteorological seasons...summer: June/July/Aug.

Take care!

jane

jane

These are sure the lazy, hazy days of summer for me!
I did walk this morning and then stopped to talk to my neighbor who is painting her house.
She's still in the scraping part.  UGH!  She told me their plans for the summer. She has 3 boys...all Eagle Scouts and all will be college grads in a 1 1/2 yrs and they also have a girl who'll be a sophomore in high school.  They're really into car shows and NASCAR and the kids like to be together.

I did pull the sheets off my bed and will have my cleaning gal put the clean ones on when she comes about noon.

Nothing else exciting here.  I guess that awful heat in the NW is headed this way for next week.
 But, that's July!

Stay cool and safe!

jane

SharonE

Sure wish Marilyn could find a minute to drop in and bring us up to date.  Jane, you're being very good about your walking. Darlene, too!  Mary, you're on countdown for your beach week. I do hope it is a good weather one. Enjoy all that good seafood for me!

Nothing going on here except dr's appts, Pt, etc.  Bridge was awful on Tuesday. Never, ever had such bad cards, but then I guess I was due.

Today the Center here had organized a 4th of July parade early with golf carts, a red mustang, a truck, etc filled with decorations and people, mostly staff.  My neighbor across the street put out chairs, an umbrella, refreshments, etc. and invited all the neighbors to come over and watch it and visit for a while. It was a fun break. Then I had PT.  Unfortunately, just before the parade, a man in a villa next to Jean had called 911 and the fire engine and ambulance came and took him off to the hospital. He is well into his 90's and his wife is in the Alzheimer's unit. No idea what the problem is.

No word yet on the baby! Every time the phone rings, I think it's them, but not yet.

No plans for the actual 4th. Just hope there aren't any fireworks to scare Bunny. There weren't any close last year.

Happy Holidays!  Sharon

Jaywalker

I have a feeling Marilyn is working on getting unpacked and settled in before she finds an internet carrier.
