Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

maryz

Great car and great fun!

Alpiner...looks like a good time with the Model T.

Hi to MaryPage, Maryz, Sharon, Patricia, Darlene

In the mid to upper 90s and heat advisory out to stay indoors...feels like 110 and very humid.

I'm not going anywhere outside.

Stay cool and safe,

jane

Marilyn

UPDATE   I will get my Pacemaker tomorrow. I cheeck in at 6:30 a.m

i sent Keith to the hospital  Wenesday as he was severely dehydrated and weak, he couldn't 't ven stand up.  They gave him fluids and sent him back home

patricia19

Still smoky and hot, have had over two million acres burnt and 59 new fires from last Friday and the weekend. Since this is the place everyone retreats to, we are full of people, and the fairgrounds are full of pets and animals. The closest of 468 fires is within 33 miles of us, and more than one fire has combined with others. I never thought I'd wish for winter, but I do.

MaryPage

Standing beside you with my eyes shut tight wishing away with you.

I really, really hope & pray those fires get no closer to you.

maryz

Marilyn, glad Keith is better now - hydration is SO important (as we all know). We'll be thinking of you in the morning.  Check in when you can.

Patricia, the fires are so bad everywhere. I hope yours get contained soon.

Nothing new here, except for extreme head advisories - through Friday night. Then to "cool down" to the low 90s.

Patricia...hope the fires can get contained soon.

Marilyn...glad you got the pacemaker and the hospital could hydrate K.

Maryz...these sizzling temps make summer very unpleasant for me, too.

MaryPage...stay cool and safe.  Fire like Patricia has is something that terrifies me.

Darlene...hope all is well with you...in probably sizzling Texas.

Sharon...stay cool and safe.

Alpiner...hope all is well in CA.

Finally a day without rain...though we needed it badly...and it's not sizzling.  I got up early (for me) and down to the Farmers' Market for some some loaves of banana bread with walnuts.  I bought 5 so I can stock up my freezer.  They're the perfect size for me.

Then off to WalMart for some iced tea and a couple other items.  I came home and put away all the stuff needing to be refrigerated or frozen, rested for a bit, and then off to a local restaurant for something I was craving...biscuits and gravy.  Weird, huh.  That'll be my breakfast and lunch for today.

Off to read and listen to music.

Stay cool and safe,

jane

Jane, unfortunately no change and still dense smoke. We are inundated with fire refugees, their pets, and animals. We are the go-to for all disaster victims, so we all make do.

I never thought I'd say this, but bring on winter! Every event we've had be it snow, temperatures length and or depths, washouts, or sinkholes, etc. has been a new record.

Tomereader1

Jane, I have been craving Biscuits, sausage & gravy for about 4 days.  I keep saying I'll go to McDonalds and get a couple, but mostly sleep late (after being awake all night) and then I forget about it.  Maybe tomorrow for a Sunday treat!

Cottoncandy

Good morning all...back from my visit with daughter...today is a day of rest..will watch church on line...didn't read all posts so will just say hope all are doing well and staying cool...it will be 104 here today..just can't take the heat anymore...seems this summer is to the extremes...have a great Sunday

jane

Tome...hurrah another biscuits and gravy fan!

Darlene...glad you had a great getaway.  Stay safe in this 104 degree temps!

Today has been nice, but the humidity is cranking up.  I sat on back porch for a bit, watching the birds and listening to their chatter.  County fair starts here tomorrow...and nope, I won't be attending...too many crowds for me.

I need to go check on my towels in the dryer.

Stay cool and safe,

Jane

I love biscuits and gravy and have had them multiple times since childhood. I don't buy them, and it's perhaps minutes to make them at home and cheaper. But, I know others don't cook or care to as I do.

497 current fires and three million acres burnt but they're promising rain by perhaps next Tuesday or Wednesday.

Marilyn

Hello Buddies. I got the pacemaker implant on Friday.. I was home by noon. That said I am doing well. The tape is so tight it is pulling my skng and they scrubbed me so had my skin is very tender.. I am doing very well.

maryz

Glad to hear all is well, Marilyn!!

HURRAH, Marilyn...glad the pacemaker is working for you!!

Patricia...I'm glad someone else shares my love of this breakfast favorite.

Hi everyone. Melanie starts chemo Thurs. She chose the very aggressive chemo. I can't remember the name of it, but it is often used as one of the drugs for BC. I'm a little worried about it because it often affects the heart. She will be in the hospital overnight as the will give it as a 24 HR infusion. They will put in the port first and also do an echo before they start the chemo. Thank you all for your caring comments.

Marilyn, so glad the pacemaker is in. Do you feel a lot better? Sorry to hear Keith had to go in the hospital but glad he's out now.

I thought it was extremely dangerous tod have e-fib all the time. But I guess if your dr. isn't worried, it's okay, Mary and Mary Page.

We've had lots high 90's here and thunder storms every night. We needed the rain, but a lot of people lost trees they say, tho not here. Cooled off to 70's yesterday andd low 80'S TODAY. Was able to take a walk today.

Patricia, your fires are scary. Hope they ddon't get any closer.

Darlene, I'm with you on the high temps.

Jane, I'm not a biscuits and gravy fan but am glad you satisfiedd your craving.  Hurting today and bAD left hAND TREMOR MESSING UP MY TYPING.
C
Gotta run. Have a hair Appt. Sharon

jane

Sharon...you know we all are holding Melanie close here.  It sounds like a good way to start the chemo...in the hospital where they can closely monitor her.   The ports are new since my own chemo in 1989...Ray had one and it made blood draws & chemo, so much easier for him.

Nothing exciting here...nice day out there, I think.  I was up early for me at 6:30 am and have just finished breakfast so I could take my pills.

I've been doing computer work since 7:15, so I need to get up and do a walk around outside in the yard.

Stay safe and cool,

jane

Good morning; nothing's changed fire-wise, but no rain here. Although they had heavy rains in the Southeast portion of the state. Proving that nothing happens singularly, we received this weather notice today, "The Tanana River will have an increased risk of flooding of low lying areas starting today and continuing through the week. People in the Rosie Creek Subdivision near Fairbanks should prepare for potential flooding this week, with water levels similar to what happened with the high water in 2011 and 2012."

It's so sad dealing with cancer and loved ones suffering when we, as spouses or parents, cannot make all the problems disappear. In the nineties, each person, my daughter, my parents, both sisters, and I, dealt with cancer, with five out of six recovered. I wish I could take a magic wand and make all those with that terrible disease easily recover!

MaryPage

The "You are in A Fib all of the time now!" proclamation from the Cardiologist is not precisely something that does not bother them, Sharon;  it pretty much says "Hope for the best."  And so we do.  We all do.  But for my part (I cannot speak for Dear Mary.), just being 93 is pretty much all of a same with the A Fib thing.

Not trying to be gloomy.  Just telling it like it is.  I'm pretty frantic trying to read my way through all of my books and watch my way through all of the DVDs I bought and have not previously watched.  Keeps me busy.

Lately, I have particularly enjoyed Hotel Portofino on PBS and Dark Winds on AMC.  I read the Tony Hillerman books years ago.  In both cases, they have done an outstanding job and the cinematography is OUTstanding!

maryz

Sharon and Donna, your children are definitely in our thoughts and hearts - as are you with your fears for them.

MaryPage, I'm loving Dark Winds, too. We read all the Hillerman books, and literally followed his roads and locations on our trips to New Mexico and Arizona.

Oldest daughter, Sue, who just retired is going to be here this weekend. I haven't seen her in a while, so that'll be good. Plus we're taking the opportunity to have lunch at Margaret's on Saturday with old friends from Hendersonville. Beth is one of longest-term friends, and her daughter and Sue are close in age and were friends all through school. A good time is expected.

Biscuits and gravy is a southern treat, but has never been one of my favorites. One of my tablemates here has two biscuits-and-gravy every morning for his breakfast.  :)

Stay cool, Buddies!

MaryPage

Oh, lucky you, Mary!  I never got to New Mexico or Arizona.

I am thrilled to the core with what they have done with that book!  The Cinematography just blows me away.  The list of producers is fascinating, as well and all.  Turns out Robert Redford bought the rights some THIRTY years ago!  Wow, that is a long time in which to get a project going!  George Martin, he of Game of Thrones fame, is in there, too!  And Hillerman's daughter.

Good Morning, Gentle Ladies!!

A cloudless beautiful blue sky here this morning, and so the temperature rises and rises.

I've been working on my computer this morning, and I'm ready for a break.

Nothing else exciting here.

Take care of yourself and stay healthy,

jane

jane

Good Morning Lovelies!

I've been out to take my bins to the curb and an old acquaintance stopped to chat.
She's a very talented lady who plays organ and piano for lots of events, and she played at Ray's funeral.  She is also a knitter and former teacher who still supervises student teachers in this area and enjoys her 6 grands.  She also plays in a country music trio at a variety of private and public venues.  I don't know how she crams all of that into her days.   :2funny:

I've caught up on my computer stuff and so going to get a fresh cup of tea and read for a bit.  Next big activity for me is a pedicure this afternoon.

I'm wallowing in self-pity today...it would be our 49th  wedding anniversary.  Great memories and sad at the same time.

Stay healthy,

jane

maryz

Happy Memories, jane - even if they do make you cry a little.

patricia19

I agree; we always carry them in our hearts and would do it all over again if offered.

jane

Thanks, Maryz and Patricia...I'm coping....what other choice is there?? ::)
