Hi, Buddies... I'm still alive and been spending more time in lab and whatever than I wanted.  The "wash" on Friday was the full dose....this bcg mixture is hard to get so I only had a 1/2 dose last week.  Friday I got the full dose and the lab was quicker to get it put together.  The clinic can't order it until I'm in the office, but I now know to sign in immediately and be early and they can tell the lab to mix it up.
Patricia and Don stayed until about noon.  They took a lot of things to be dumped at their landfill place for me and stuff to be donated, etc.
My sister is coming out Thursday to be with me Friday and the following Friday for #3&4.  My sister and Patricia don't think I should drive down and back alone.

It's been cold...mornings in the 40s and wonderful 50s in the afternoons.  We also got some wonderful rain.

Take care...lots of flu and bad colds here.

[b Jane, I hope the chemo hasn't caused you any side effects to speak of. How about hair? I hope it is doing its job. When will they test to see how it's going?  Hang in there. I'm glad someone will be with you on your trips.

M{, I'm glad someone will be with you while Chip is ill. Not fun to get sick on a trip.  I just had that. When we went to the wedding in IN, Sat. nt. after the rehearsal dinner, I had a cardiac event and ended up in the hospital. I couldn't breath and thought I was dying. The ambulance techs got me on oxygen immediately and then I began to come around. They did multiple tests and found out that I have A Fib and had fluid in my lung. This is an exacerbation of my heart failure which has been stable for 25 years! Anyway, I was in the huspital till Mon nt and thus missed the wedding and had to csncel and rebook our flights home.  Like Mary said, what would we do without our kids. Brian was especially helpful getting John back and forth and finding us a motel for Mon night. Jonathan our grandson (groom) drove us back on Tues from Bloomington to the Indy airport.  He and his bride weren't leaving on their honeymoon till the following Friday.

Tomereader, I have had good luck with HP also and bought another one this summer. I don't know how old the other one was. Mine is a laptop and I use a mouse also.

Fall is here in NC! In fact I read that the mountains had snow! We have a high of 63 here today.

Mary, I had a disc decompression about 5 yrs ago or so. Had no problems and went home the next day. Only stayed overnight to get IV's of antibiotics. I hope you find some relief. I need to go back to my spinal dr. I have so much pain in my hips and lower back.

Well I need to leave for bridge in a few minutes. I hope everyone gets well or stays well.  Sharon [/b]

Morning, Friends,

Sharon...wow, what a trip to IN. Glad you're safely home in NC with John.  I'm doing bcg treatments which is immunotherapy and no bad side effects for me except fatigue.

MaryPage...hope you're well and Chip can get well and back safely.

Maryz... Covid was present in our nursing home, but stayed away from Assisted Living.  Hope same is true for you.

Darlene...how are you?

Patricia...all ok in Alaska?

Tomereader...how are you?

Fall is here in Iowa, too, but temps are good.  High is 60 today.
My sister is flying in today to stay with me for next two treatments.

Stay safe and well!

Jane

Jane, Have you now moved out of your home and decided to go into a Senior living?
I have been trying to get back into SandF for ages. I think that Bubble found a way for me to be reentered again. This first try,

Hi Buddies...Jane I have been at my daughters..had a ear infection..with drops 3xday..will go for follow up next week..Jeanne good to see you posting again...Sharon sorry you also been sick...and hope things improve for y'all..we have had a few cool mornings..but hot today.....everyone take care stay well and happy

MaryPage

Wrote a post and lost it and will try again tomorrow.  Love to all.  Chip is here with me and Becky finally got home to Missouri.

Cottoncandy

Hi everyone...we have had lots rain...cut off by high water for couple days...but I've lived here long enough to stay prepared...had my ears tested last week...looks like I will be pricing hearing aides...anyone like to comment on a good brand...beltone is very expensive.".but a person got to hear...MaryPage...you are blessed to have family with you and near you...hope everyone is well and safe...have a pleasant evening

SharonE

Jane I'm not familiar with bcg, but I'm glad there are no other side effects than fatigue. Glad your sister is coming too.

Mary Page, glad Chip is home and better.

Darlene, Do NOT get Beltone. John has them and still can't hear well.  I love my Phonak. They are rechargeable and pair with my cell phone so I can adjust the volume if needed. Also, if I put the cell phone on vibrate, it just rings in my hearing aid and no one else is bothered by it.

Jeanne, good to see you back.

I'm feeling well, but the coumadin still isn't stabilized, so I have to go again Mon.

We have had 70+ degrees all week and up to 80 today thru Monday, then it is going to ddrop to the high 50's or low 60's. It has been so changeable this year.

I got the newsletter finished and it will go out Wed.  I played bridge today but didn't win. Hope I have better cards on Tuesday.

Well, it's late. Must go to bed.  Sherry

Sharon...who sells phanak hearing aids...I would think you would have to buy from an office...so they can be adjusted to your ears..or can you buy them on line then go to new sound or other office...thanks for responding...

Tomereader1

Yes, let's have some more discussion about Hearing Aids.  I had ears tested, twice in the last month or so, once at the Livingston Hearing Center and once in an ENT's office.  These tests with the charts they gave me are basically both the same.  The Livingston was a free ear exam and hearing test.  The ENT I went to see is because of my vertigo.  The Audiologist was excellent, but
(shhh, don't tell anyone, but the ENT was useless.  He did not ask any pertinent questions, and barely ran the otoscope past my ears, not looking inside, but just reading the audiologist's notes and for this, my ins. bill was about $1,000).  I really don't know whether to go back to Livingston and re-check their prices (I don't wan't fancy-schmancy) just standard to enable me to hear a bit better.)  I told my doctor that I had had the tests, and she said "get the hearing aids--hearing problems can be a major contributor to getting Alzheimer's.  Sure don't want that.  So, discuss brands and outcomes so I know what "not" to get.

Marilyne

My hearing aides are from Costco, and I've been very happy with them for the past three years.  There is a Hearing Aide center in every Costco, and they have trained and certified audiologists in every one.  First I had the test by the audio at my ENT's office.  Then I had the test at Costco, with almost exactly the same results.    The cost for hearing aides from the ENT place was outrageous, I thought, which is why I went to Costco. About half as much at C, with a selection of prices and brands.  After trying them all at the center, I choose the Rexton brand.  It's been wonderful.   My husband got his from the VA, and he has the Signia brand.  You have to look around and see what feels best for you.  No need to spend the extremely high prices that many of the doctors charge.

SharonE

[size 4]My original audiologist moved, so I went on line and googled phonak audiologist near me, and found one. She is great and adjusts anything that needs done. She even set up the phonak link on my phone for me.  I have had 2 sets of phonak hearing aids. The first required batteries and I reached the point that they culdn't be adjusted any louder and needed to go to a better set. I've had these about 5 yrs and they still work fine and I only am using 60% volume. I just added the app to my new cell phone.  I've never been to an ENT. I feel an audiologist is the way to go unless you have a medical problem.  I've heard Costco carries good ones and are cheaper, though I've never been.  Good luck girls. I checked out a bunch before I got mine.

I am beginning to think that I need to get my ears checked. Can hear fine if at least 3 ft away but face to face i can"t understand what they are saying .             I heard from Bubble by my Gmail up to 2 weeks ago. Is anyone hearing?
JeanneP

alpiner1

I have Phonak hearing aids but rarely use them .  They make my ears itch .

Jeanne...no, I'm not moving anywhere at this time.

This must be hearing time for several of us.  I saw an ENT because of some ear pain and will go to his office to hear their spiel about aids.  My primary provider said her husband had his testing done and was quoted a price, went to Costco and test results were the same and got his aids much, much cheaper.  Problem for me is Costco is 70 miles away.

I'm having my last cancer treatment this Fri. Then 6 weeks to heal before exam in January.

Jane

jane

Alpiner...doesn't the hearing aid place offer an oil or something to ease the itching?

alpiner1

Jane I don't know .  I don't hear much better either .

jane

Alpiner, that's a shame after the $$ they cost.

Cottoncandy

Hi buddies...on the hearing aide discussion...I need to get tested. And hopefully find one I can afford..ALPINER I would think there is something to control the itching...my husband was a veteran..and was fitted for them...but never wore them. Much...Jane hope you are still recovering well...such a blessing your sister can be there for you....we had a couple cool days..back in the 80s today....hope all reading is having a good day...Jeanne good to see your post.....I often wonder about Marlyin and her husband....

JeanneP

Glad to be able to catch up a little. Still hard to follow as no way is it running the way I always used it for so many years,
Got another tip today as to what I should do do stop it wanting me to be back in 2016.
Now at least have gotten to catch up a little on what some of you are doing. Seems to be a few people missing
Jane. Glad to see that you are still in your home,You love it. I have been59 years now in mine and time to move but just can't think of doing it, Age is catching up but main thing is that I have lost my Handyman of 35 years and yard man of 25 years, Both passed, All year trying to fine replacement. So many small repairs need doing, Did the deck railing but took A man 6 weeks and cost me twice the cost but he did a good job so just paid.
Glad you are at the end of health problems Come Friday i have a meeting with  a new Dr, (Bowel Blockage)  type ploblem. Not looking forward to it. 8:30am and miles away.
Will get back to other posters soon/

Hi everyBuddy!  I've had nothing to contribute to the hearing-aid discussion (fortunately for me), and not much going on around here, either.

We have had unseasonably hot weather - tying high temp records the last two days.  And NO rain. We are supposed to have cooler temps coming up and some much-needed rain today and tomorrow. Hope springs eternal, in any case.

It is good to hear that jane is almost finished with her treatments. It's got to have been a grueling process, and it's great that her sister has been there for support.  Hang in there, Babe!

I see the cardiologist this morning, but just for a follow-up visit. Hope all goes well.

Happy Thursday, Buddies!

Morning, everyone!

My last trip to lab here...at least for a bit...but I have to get some food in me first. ;D

Weather has been so mild for Nov!

Hope you all are well.

Jane

SharonE

Good to hears Jana is almost finished with her treatments. Hope the tests in January are good.

Mary, our temps are the same, drought too. Hope your cardiologist appt goes well. You are lucky not to need hearing aids.

Alpine, there is an oil you can put in your ear to stop itching. Go in to your audiologist and have her see why you don't have much improvement. She can adjust them.

I got elected to the Residents Council this week. Don't really know what it involves other than we are a go between for the residents with the administration. But it should be fun.

Take care everyone.

A chilly morning here and I found a charge on my credit card that I sure didn't make, so had a talk to CC company.  New card on the way.

Stay healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Jane..glad you caught the charge on credit card...that wasn't yours....That happened to me not long ago so I have the alert purchase...includes any activity...I am sent a text ....too much scam out now..Everyone have a good weekend......

Raining here this A.M. & now.  Wind out of the North, so guess the predicted cold front is here.  Yesterday was very nice, temps in the low 70's and basically all sunshiny.  Our Texas weather can change in the drop of a hat!  Have an appt. scheduled for trial of Phonax (?)aids.  They seem to be scheduling an audiology appt., but I've already had that at an ENT's office.  Wonder if they can use that printout to make a prescription?  They offer a trial to see if you benefit from the hearing aids.  Guess, we'll see (or hear, more like.  LOL)

Cottoncandy

..Be sure and post how you like the Phonak hearing aides....and approx price

phyllis

Cottocandy, I often lurk here but seldom post.  I have worn Phonak hearing aids for 20 years and wouldn't buy anything else.  My latest is equipped with bluetooth and is wonderful.  I only have one aid because I am completely deaf in one ear and can't be aided.  I have a little less than 50% hearing in the other ear and the Phonak really helps with that.  The last price I paid for 1 aid was $1,572.00 and it has a 1 year warranty.  I got mine from a private audiologist because I like her treatment of my condition.

Good to see Phyllis posting, and Cotton Candy and Tome, of course.

It's unseasonably warm here...not used to 60 degrees in Nov, but it's nice.

This first round of bcg treatments is over, and now 6 weeks to heal.   :)

I'm doing a lot of reading and the usual laundry. :o

Stay well!

Jane
