Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

JeanneP: I am trying to get into the Archives of the Recipes that where moved over from Senior net few years ago, Can't find them

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

jane

Holiday greetings to all!  I'm being spoiled by my sister...all my favorite meals, etc.

The weather has been mild, and maybe only rain.  The snow that was here has melted.

Hope you're all doing well and are staying healthy.

The « kids » all arrive Tuesday and I'll fly out of Cleveland on Wed.

Merry Christmas to you all,

Jane

SharonE

Merry Christmas everybuddy!I hope everyone is with family or friends. We will probably eat with friends tomorrow as we did today after church. I found a sub for bridge yesterday and worked on my newsletter. I got it about 3/4 finished and need some new info before I finish it.

Brian will be coming back for work around the end of January and Melanie has decided to come up the 29th of Jan for 2-3 days. It's possible that Lori will come down to at the same time. We won't know what to do if we have all 3 here at once! Definitely something to look forward to.

Other than that, no news here. Have a wonderful holiday everyone!

Well, 2023 went out with a ???!!!   Our small facility has Covid, and I tested positive the day after Christmas (when I had been with Margaret, Jean, Jesse and his family). I've been confined to my room, (I was the 12th of our 36 residents to test positive), but everyone is being served meals in their rooms. I hope to get tested again this morning and hope to be negative.  Fortunately I haven't felt too bad, except for more shortness of breath and a total lack of energy.

I hope everybody stays well!

Seems like even though get all the shots people still come down with Covid. Hope the just combine it with the yearly flu shot for the future .

Our doctor told my husband & I not to get the booster shot . He said it can trigger other illnesses .

maryz

I got the latest Covid vaccine after Thanksgiving, and I think it kept me from being sicker. At least I wasn't in the hospital over Xmas this year.

YIKES, Maryz, but there seems to be a lot of covid around.  Hope you test negative for it soon.

I hope you all had a safe and fun New Year's eve and day.  Mine was Very quiet!   ;D

It's a damp cold here...27 degrees... but I dragged this body out for grocery restock.  I'd tried to use up everything before I left for Christmas, so it was a rather long list.   :-[

Tomorrow I get a much needed hair cut.

I am still chilled by my shopping outing, so think I'll make a chai latte and finish reading on my iPad.

My ONLY resolution for this year is to keep up with my personal finances.

Have a safe and happy 2024!

Good morning Buddies..hope everyone is safe and good health..I'm finally getting Christmas stuff put away and praying 2024 will be good for all of us...Jane I too got out yesterday for a much needed haircut..it's cool and drizzling here this morning..so will put off my walk till later..Jeanne it's good to see you posting again...I wonder how Marlyin and husband are doing...she hasn't posted in quite awhile...have a good day everyone

jane

Darlene....good to see your post.  I, too, wonder about Marylin.

It's one of those cold, damp days and occasional snow flurries.  I went out earlier to get a few things I'd forgotten yesterday.

Friday I had another Cystoscopy but could have it here at our hospital since Dr. and his team come up here to our speciality clinic twice a month.
Everything was "beautiful" in the words of the doctor!  So, we start on maintenance to keep it that way.  3 weekly treatments beginning in March in Cedar Rapids and then another cystoscopy in May, etc.  Good news for me.

They were seeing 10 additional patients on Friday while they were here.

Guess I'll catch up with my checkbook and relax the rest of the day.  I did two loads of wash yesterday, so I'm all caught up there.

I suppose you all heard of the school shooting in Perry, Iowa...over by Des Moines.  One child dead, several people, including the principal seriously injured, etc.

Take care and stay safe!

And winter has arrived.  It started snowing last night, and it continues today.  One appt was cancelled by the provider and I cancelled 2 more in CR.  It's a stay home by the fire day!

Stay safe and healthy.

Jane

maryz

Like you say, jane - good day to stay home.  We're even talking about "measurable snow" for next Monday.  Of course, here, that means an inch more-or-less.  ;D   My table-mate is from Michigan and our talk of "cold" and "snow" is pretty amusing to her.

Over the last week, I have had some of the Covid headaches, and they are killers!  I've used a dark room with an ice pack on my face and found some acetominophen-with-codeine. It still lasted all day.  I've also managed to fend a couple off.  Hope that goes awak soon.

Stay warm, Buddies!

Hi, Buddies!
Well, winter found us here in the "heartland"...yepper, it sure did.  10" or so of snow on the ground and we're under another storm warning through Saturday.

I got out for my covid booster and grabbed lunch at my favorite place...a d brought 1/2 home for later.  While there a man came in and carried out some pizzas...came back in and carried out another armful and made a 3rd trip for extras.  Server told me he'd had $400 in pizzas.  QUITE A PARTY....OR LUNCH FOR A BIG STAFF! ;D

I've finished up a load of sweatpants and sweatshirts for this coming week.  Temps to have highs...BELOW zero.  So...I'm READY.

Stay SAFE and WARM and healthy.

FYI:

From Oldsmann  Jan. 7, 2024  Moving server info:

Currently planning to do it Friday night/early Saturday morning. I'm off on the weekends and don't have to be at work until early Monday afternoon so that should give me plenty of time to work out any problems that may occur.

I've already moved a few other sites and am not having any problems with them so I don't anticipate any issues this time around either.

jane

From Michael: he says the server has been moved and all seems to be working fine.

Greetings from cold and snowy Iowa.  It was 10 when I got up this morning, and slowly dropping since.

I'm in for the day, though my snow removal people have my walks and driveway clear.  I don't need to get out until Tues. for two appts in CR I had to cancel last Tuesday.  They are in the same medical complex, thank goodness.

Stay warm and safe in this truly winter weather,

Jane

Cottoncandy

Just checking in..we are getting some very cold low temps as well...but usually don't last but few days..lots flu and respiratory problems floating around..hope all stay well...warm and safe

jane

Darlene...here, too.  It was -15 when I got up this morning. Too cold to venture out for me.  High today to be -5.( These are actual temps...windchills to be in the -30 to -45.)

I'm in football playoff land. I got my Covid shot Thurs and didn't feel good on Fri.  All is good now.  Lots of flu and Covid around, I'm told.  I had to wait until the inflammation from my cancer treatments was down to introduce this shot.

Stay safe and healthy,
Jane

Stay safe.

maryz

It's 20* outside my window this morning (6:00 a.m.), and we did get the snow we were promised.  It's too dark to see how much, but it's supposed to continue snowing all day.  Our breakfast serving has been delayed to 8 a.m. to be sure the staff has time to get here.  We don't have the equipment/knowledge/etc. to deal quickly with snow on our non-major roads. It just doesn't happen often enough.

Stay warm, Buddies!

..new look this morning..don't know if I can find my way around or not

Tomereader1

I've looked around, very slowly, and found everything...I think. Nice clean looking page.

This is the Quick Reply page, it appears at the very bottom after the last post.
And right below the last post, to the right of the page, says "Reply", Mark Unread, Print and Notify.  Up at the very top, beginning of where it says Senior & Friends, to the left,  are four little icons, which I shall check out tomorrow.

We'll get it guys, just takes some looking and close reading...which I find harder to do every day.  Be patient, good luck.  Hope the weather is better where you are tomorrow.

Playoff games tomorrow, so I will be glued to the TV.

Love and Hugs to All!

maryz

It's 7* outside my window this morning, and due to be at least that cold tomorrow. But then we have a big thaw next week, with temps going near 60! by midweek.  Welcome to Tennessee in January!

Happy Saturday!

It's warmed up here, too, to the low 30s and brought lots of fog.

On Wed. I drove to CR for two appts and got in early for each, so got home early.

On Thursday I got a quick appt with a new dermatologist...a young lady...so drove through the fog to and fro.  She gave me two injections of steroids into the itchy mess on my back, and I switched to her as my dermo on record.  My old guy is only part time and obviously retiring....she said she was hired to replace him, so I'm on her caseload now.

Like Tome, I'm looking forward to the playoffs tomorrow.

Not much on my schedule for today...got caught up on laundry yesterday, so just hanging out and reading.

Take care and stay healthy,

jane

maryz

Nothing exciting going on around here.  Our temps "soared" up into the 60s last week, but, with another cold front today, it'll be in the 40s.  Back to normal!

I have a regular appointment with the cardiologist this week, but nothing else.

Hugs to all!

..same with me...having warmer weather ....but sure it want last..happy Sunday

SharonE

Hi Gals. I haven't been in for a while. Just busy, not sick. I got flu & covid shots in Sept. John still got sick with some sort of raspatory illness, but not covid, for 10 days. Somehow, I escaped getting it.
Brian got in town last Sunday and is here for 2 weeks. He went out to dinner with us last Sunday and came here this Sat. for dinner.  The girls arrive Tues. Can't wait.  We're all going to a well reviewed steak place Tues night.
I finished the newsletter this week. I have been really busy between it and church bulletins. Also bridge of course. One of our gals is moving away and I hate that. She was a favorite of mine.

We are also in the search for a new minister for our church. We've had a couple fill in, but not sure on either of them.

We had severe cold weather last week--  -15 for a couple of nights and low daytime also, then it rebounded to 70 on Thurs, then lots of rain, then back to normal next week, sunny, 50 degrees for a high. So glad it will be relatively nice for the girls' visit.

Melanie is not doing well--she has a bad case of sciatica and lots of pain + neuropathy in her foot. Nothing seems to be helping much.

Everyone, stay healthy and post.  Oh, Marilyn is not doing well according to FB. She is having to have an aide come in. Also, she needed to put Freckles down this weekend.

AN ADDITION TO ABOVE POST:  Our 6th great grandchild was born Sunday. A 2nd little girl for my grandson. She was early and is 5lbs + and 20" long. Her name is Myra. I won't get to see her in person till June, but she'll have developed a personality by then.
