Beautiful Thanksgiving graphic, Ginny Ann!  Hope you are feeling better.

Angel, your photos are lovely!  Although I love the birds and flowers, my favorite is the bench in the woods.  Looks so peaceful and such a good place to pause on a walk.

Mary, I'm sorry to hear of your continued breathing problems and somewhat slow progress. I hope they find the answer soon.  Ask about the knee bender. They started me on that day 1 and I continued for 2 weeks. I credit it with the full flexion in my knee. Of course I had PT too.  The nice thing about the machine is that you don't have to do anything yourself. YOu can read a book or knit while it is working.

Thank you all for your prayers for John's eye.  Almost 2 weeks till we find anything out.

Jane, John turned off the game when they called the rain delay too, but he was sure on the TV first thing this morning. That was the first thing he told me this morning was that the curse was broken and the Cubs were the champs.  Good that you got a good report from the dentist.

Darlene, I  will put your dil in my prayers. Is her name Kristen? I seem to remember that.

We have had 80 degree weaather for the past 2 or 3 days. Beautiful fall days. However the temp is to nosedive tonight and for the rest of the week into the 60's or low 70's.  Jeanne, hope your weather stays nice for a while.

MP, that photo of Mateo was so cute! He was sleeping so hard, he fell out of his sleeping thingy.

Hi to all I haven't mentioned.  I need to get to the grocery shortly.  Sharon

Wow Angel, such beautiful photos. I'm didn't know you had retired. I do hope your walking has improved.

Freckles and I are going for the hospital visit this afternoon. Saturday the Pet store is comping us a free 5 X 7 protrait of her and I.

Not much is new here, it is getting cooler and will soon be jacket weather for us. The has stopped for the time being but will soon be on us once again.

Hello, Buddies.  I've been out since my early lunch, playing bridge.  I had some good cards and some not so good, so didn't win any money, but I enjoyed the group very much.  The next time we play, we'll be going up to the lake to Peggy's.  She wants us to come early for brunch and then cards.  That will be fun, too.

I did manage to get out of bed early enough to do a load of laundry and get my morning walk in  before I showered and dressed for bridge.  Bonney drove Teri and me to Merilin's house for the game.  I had some good cards and more which were not so great, but enjoyed playing anyway.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Cubs win the World Series last night.  I stayed up through the rain delay and was really happy for the Cubs.  It was sad, though, for the Cleveland folks.  I couldn't believe how much money was spent on tickets for last night's game--in the thousands! I'm glad they don't charge TV viewers, but that will probably come next.

I have to get up early tomorrow morning.  My Village Friends volunteer will be here at 9:00 a.m. to take me to Kroger for grocery shopping.

I hope you've all had a good day.  Mary, I hope the walking is getting better for you.  Sharon, I hope John's eye doctor finds a good solution for him.

Jane,  my 6 month dental check-up was scheduled recently.  I called and canceled as I am not able to drive yet, but I think I'm OK for the next 6 month check-up.  I like to go down to Union Springs for my check ups and any work.  He's a good dentist and doesn't charge nearly as much as the dentists here.  My dental insurance with the retired teachers organization pays 100% for check ups and a good bit if work is needed.

I'm going to have a bowl of the soup Tim brought me yesterday for supper.  Plus some ice cream.  I indulged too much in Merilin's snacks today, but I still am 10-12 pounds down from my regular weight.

Darlene, I'm praying for Karen, too.

Have a nice weekend, Buddies.

Angel, I loved seeing your photos from The Creamery.  We enjoyed walking there when we were in Fairbanks in 1998.

Ginny Ann, your Thanksgiving graphic is spectacular.

I'm not a baseball fan either, but I know folks are excited in Chicago.  Congrats to them

We're still setting all-time heat records here - it was 84 today.  Supposed to be around 70 over the weekend.  The PT folks say I'm meeting their goals, and I'm doing much more walking on the walker - even out in the hall by myself.  I still have a lot of pain with extending and lifting the leg, plus the tightest bend I've gotten is to 93*.  Slowly, slowly.

Well I think today is the last Dr. Appt. for 2016. Went to my one who just goes over what the test on the Carotid Arteries came out looking like. Says to start taking a baby Asprin. My yearly full Blood panel was good.  Didn't think they would have my Mamo to her by now but she had it on her computer. Not got mine in the mail yet.  Once in awhile they have me come back to do a Sona test but not this year.  Will see if need anything else before the end of the year before  we have to pay our first deductible again.  Should see if my Eye Doctor can sneak me in end of December as I notice his next Appt. in first week in Jan.  I am wrong. its first week Feb. Darn it.

Thank Goodness. Something happened good for Chicago.  Wish they would start showing some pride in their city. (The criminals I mean). So many killings this year. Their gangs are even coming as far down as C/U . My area.
I like to watch Baseball but not enough to stay up that long. Will catch the end of it on the news tonight.  107 Years has it been.? Would be nice to watch that last game and see how it changed from them now.  Can bet there were no Coloured players. But Baseball does have less. Football seems to be 90% now. I know our University team are. That is O.K but I wonder why very few white men are not  into these kind of sports anymore.

Marilyn

Good morning, I haven't posted for a few days, no excuse either. Yesterday Freckles and I had a visit at the hospital and Wednesday we went to the  Residential and Rehab center just around the corner and up the street from here. Tomorrow we are having our Christmas picture taken at the pet store where I shop for her food. They called and are comping a 5 X 7 photo of her and I. I see I am repeating myself that I posted yesterday.

I talked with Gilbert last evening, I had invited them up for Thanksgiving but their finances won't permit them to make the trip to Oregon. The are just 207 miles straight down the coast from here. It is a winding trip down Highway 101 right along the ocean quite a bit of the way, It is beautiful going through the redwoods and along the ocean., We will make the trip down for Christmas.

We are both doing well,  no health concerns, Keith is taking at least one walk with Freckles and I daily, I take Freckles with me for 4 walks per day and do about 5 miles total, sometimes 7 miles total, not counting what I do around the house.

I have my eye appointment the 31st of December. I sure can tell the difference in my eyesight, It was 275 last time and I know it will be more than that this time, I may have to get bifocals as I can't even read what is on the TV sometimes like the answers on Jeopardy. I don't think the cataract is the problem though or the MD, it difficult to reax the print in books unless it is large print with my glasses on of course.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  Actually it is 12:30 and already halftime of the Auburn, Vanderbilt game here at home and the score is tied at 10-10.  Which is very surprising!  Our regular quarterback has not played so far and may not play if the substitute QB gets hot.  For some untold reason, they'd like to keep Sean on the bench.  He took a lot of hard hits last week and maybe they think he needs the rest.  One of our best defenders was thrown out early in the game because he hit the ball handler with his helmet.

Still no rain here.  We are definitely in a drought.  I'm afraid my azaleas will not recover.  The only bed I am watering is the one with the newly planted pansies.  Auburn City has issued a drought warning and may start fining those who water with sprinklers.  I might carry a bucket or two to my pansies if they stop all watering with sprinklers.

The half-time is almost over.  I hope Gus revises the game plan and our team gets going in the second.

Have a nice day,
Buddies

jane

Sue....Congrats on AAuburn's win.  I'm watching FL and Arkansas now...and looking forward to LSU and AL tonight and Ohio State and NE.

Beautiful day here, but my sinuses are giving me fits.  It's one of those low energy days.  Do others of you have these...just no desire or energy to do much?

I do have some laundry in.  Repairmen replaced the gasket on my front loader and it's better then the original one that was holding a lot more water.

Tomorrow morning we're going to the new Sunday buffet at the Golf Club.  In the afternoon Kathy and I will probably take in the Quilt Show at the Fairgrounds.

Jane

SharonE

Sue, we got 5 ins of rain from Matthew, but none since. The area just east of us is in a severe drought and we are rated as very dry. Charlotte is asking for voluntary water saving, but they didn't get much from Matthew.  According to predictions the SE is going to be dry and warm this winter.

Jane, I have low-energy days every day!!  I think I'm going to accomplish something and then as soon as I get started on something I start hurting and just poop out.  Not a fun way to live.  It's a beautiful day here today too, altho somewhat chilly at 67 degrees.  I like that temp though as long as it isn't raining or blowing.  Enjoy your football.  The Panthers play tomorrow, although I won't watch it. Enjoy your Sunday brunch and quilt show.

Jeanne, good that your medical tests came out good. I take a baby aspirin 3X a week.  The Cubs winning thhe Series was a wonderful thing for Chicago. Five million people turned out for the parade and celebration Friday.

I've got a beef vegetable soup simmering. It sounded good on a cool fall day. Other than that, I haven't done much at all.  Sharon

It has been another lovely day here, only a bit cooler.  We are supposed to be in the sixties all this next week.

Daughter Anne turned 65 today, and I have found my thoughts constantly wandering back to the years when she was a little thing.  Some of the rhymes we used to chant from back then particularly haunt me:  "Anne has eyes like chocolate pies."  and "Anne Marguerite, get OUT of the street!"  The neighborhood kids especially took to the latter, and when I would holler that out a window, they would all pick up the refrain.  Very helpful, it was.

Daughter Pam has been in Washington, DC this week for a veterinary conference, and of course elected to take Monday off so she could spend the weekend visiting family and friends here and fly back to Arizona Monday morning.  Son Rob will drive over from Columbia and son Chris drive up from Fredericksburg, Virginia and we will go to lunch at a seafood restaurant tomorrow, since that is always what Pam desires when she comes back home.  Debi, sob, cannot join us because it is in her teaching contract that she has to be at an Open House tomorrow at that time.  She teaches in a private High School.  Anne has Greg to take care of, and a houseful of family for her birthday celebration, so it just does not work for her.  So it will be Rob and Chris and Chip and Pam and me.  We'll have a few hours together, and then she heads up to Montgomery County to have dinner with her sister, my daughter Elizabeth, and her crew of 2 daughters (and their spouses) and 6 grandchildren.  My great granddaughter Brooke, Elizabeth's granddaughter and Joanna's daughter, will turn 17 tomorrow, so there will be much celebrating. Used to be I would be right up there with them all, but the hour & a quarter auto trip each way,  plus the noise and late hours are just too damaging to this old woman's stamina anymore.  I am grateful they take the trouble to include me in at a pace I can handle these days.  Bless them every one!

And you, as well and all!

Marilyn

Did anyone read my post from yesterday. I am feeling invisible.

maryz

Hi Buddies - haven't checked in much -  nothing really new to report.  I am definitely getting mentally ready to be out of here.  Still slow, but still seeing progress every day.

Marilyn, I hope maybe bifocals can help your vision problems.  That's a long time wait for an appointment, but I know how that works (unfortunately).  I loved having bifocals, then trifocals, and then the multifocal lenses.

MaryPage, sounds like you're having a good weekend with your various family doings.

Sue and Sharon, we're in the highest level of drought here.  I think we had some like 0.5" of rain during the month of October, and we're on track to have the driest year on record.  Because we get our water from the Tennessee River, we have no restrictions yet (except for burning restrictions), but farms and yards are really suffering.  The drought area is spreading - and starting to look a lot like Southern California.

Enjoy your "vegetable" weekend, jane.

Enjoy the rest of the football weekend, Buddies.

Marilyn, I read your post....I'm glad you and Keith are both well, and you have him walking.  Does he try to drive by himself anymore?  We've come to make our eye appts for the following year before we leave the office...otherwise a long wait unless an emergency. Sorry for not commenting earlier, but I do read everyone's post every day.

Maryz...hope you can get "sprung" and back home soon.

MaryPage...enjoy your time with your children visiting.

Any soup left, Sharon?  We've been eating from the freezer since we'll be gone for several months, and still a few soups to go.  Tonight it's pork ribs, though.

Beautiful day here...we're going to try the breakfast buffet at the golf club restaurant, and then Kathy and I will go to the quilt show the area guild does at the fairgrounds.  There are always some incredible works of art there.

Have a great day, Buddies!

Jane

Jane..are you already in Texas?  Darlene

No, Darlene...we'll be headed there after T'giving....get into condo Dec.2.

Keep the weather there nice for us, OK?  8)

Hi, Marilyn!

I always read every single post carefully before I post myself.  I want to see what is going on with everyone, and respond where I feel there is a need to do so, or answer a question when one comes up, or put my two cents worth in on a running commentary on a subject.  But I don't try to keep a list and respond to every post, albeit I think that is a lovely thing to do.  So I am sorry if I seemed to ignore you, something I would Never intentionally do.  I love your posts, and you, and your pets!  I swear!

Have a lovely day, Dear Buddies!

Marilyn

Good Morning Ladies, Jane I see you won't be leaving for Texas until around Thanksgiving, Will you be back in Feb?

Sharon I am praying for John's eye problem.

Mary I know it seems like a long wait for my eye appointment, they called me 6 months ago and that was the earliest date they could give me. How is your  PT coming along?

Marypage I always look forward to your very descriptive  musings about where you live, You paint such a beautiful picture of your surroundings. You have  such a large family it is hard to keep up with that part.

Sue it sounds like you may be able to strat driving again soon. You seem to have come suce a long way  since you returned home.

Keith goes for his AARP Drivers class, I think it is next Saturday.

Hello to everyone I missed, Darlene, Angel, Bubble,

Cottoncandy

Hi Marylin...I too enjoy your posts..don't always comment...Jane right now our weather is pretty nice. 80 for daytime high..65 at night...no real cold front..yet.  I went to church this morning...sure don't like the time Chang..will be dark by 6. Hope everyone is having a great Sunday...Darlene

SCFSue

Darlene, due to the time change here, it was already almost dark by 5:30!  I went to church this morning, too.

Marilyn, I'd love to start driving, but so far no go from the doctors and especially from Tim.  I'm glad he's self employed, though, as he is able to take me to appointments.  Tomorrow morning he's picking me up at 8:30 for a Dexa bone scan.  Keep us posted about Keith's Driver's Class.

MaryPage, you didn't tell us what you've been doing today--and I'm sure whatever it was is interesting.

Jane, I finished the soup Tim made and brought me yesterday.  It's much cooler this evening and it would have made a good supper.  I had frozen waffles and scrambled eggs this evening.

Mary, we are in drought, too.  I've been watering my new pansies and also my butterfly bush, but only for about 15 minutes which isn't very good for them.  On Friday, the Auburn city council asked residents to curtail watering.  If I curtail it any further, I won't have any flowers.  I haven't watered my azaleas most of the summer and fall and I'm sure I will lose some.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.

Marilyn...no, we'll be there 3 months.  This is the earliest we've ever gone.  Feb is usually very wintery here.

Beautiful day here...and we're off to CR after lunch for an appt at the hearing aid place for Ray and other errands.

Yesterday we went to the breakfast buffet which was nice, then drove down to see the new dam that's working after a flood took out the old one 8 yrs ago, and then Kathy and I went to the quilt show.  Wow....what lovely pieces.  And I won one of the raffle prizes....a basket with lots of chocolate, Christmas runner and Christmas ðŸŽ,, napkins!

Election Day finally arrives tomorrow and those awful ads will finally end.  Like many of you, we've already voted.  I hope we all survive this peacefully.

Jane

SharonE

Thank you, Marilyn, for the prayers for John's eyes.  I hope Keith will see what his driving problems are. It will be difficult for you if he can't drive anymore.

Thank you to all the others for your prayers for John. He will have the test a week from tomorrow. We will drive up on Monday and stay overnight, then back home after the test. It's about 3 hrs or so up to Duke (Durham, NC). I will have to drive home because of his dialation, etc.

We went to SS & church yesterday and I did a couple loads of laundry, but other than that nothing.  Oh, we did stop at Lowes and picked up my pansies which I'm going to try to go out and plant in a bit. However, it may take me 2 days if I start hurting too much.

Jane, I hope you enjoy going to TX so early and spending Christmas there. Congrats on winning the raffle!

Mary, I'm sure you are ready to leave the rehab. Have you seen the polmonologist (?) yet? Have they given you a date to come home yet? Soon, I hope.

Mary Page, it sounds like we are having similar weather, sunny & cool. Nice for fall.  I hope you and your family had a wonderful birthday celebration.

Ginny, how is the mouth?  I hope all the pain is gone now. Do check in.

Darlene, sounds like lovely weather in TX too.

I'm with the rest of you wanting to get this election over. I am so sick of hearing both of them yammer at each other and the analysts disecting every remark.  I just hope that we don't have any problems after the elections. I don't think people can take much more.

Today is Brian's birthday. He is 48!  My baby.  Hard to believe.

Well, I better get busy. Those pansies won't plant themselves--unfortunately! Sharon

SCFSue

I agree with all who want this disgusting election over.  I can't figure out how the 2 major parties selected such grumpy, unreasonable candidates.  I'm thinking seriously about voting for someone else--maybe even one of the Vice Presidential candidates.  They both seem much more grounded and less controversial.  I will have to write in someone if I don't choose either Trump or Clinton.  I think Trump will win here though.  He has struck a nerve with the male conservative voters.  Yuck!

Tim picked me up at 8:30 and took me for my Dexa Scan.  I need to call my GYN's nurse and ask about the results.  He's the one who requested it, but I'd also like it forwarded to my GP and my Oncologist.  Both are interested in the results.  The tech at the Dexa Scan told me I'd have to request the results at the Gyn's office.  His chief nurse won't be happy about this.  The scan has usually been sent from their office to every doctor I request, but it is a No No this time.

Sharon, I'm glad you're taking John to Duke.  They have a wonderful medical department and I am praying that they can help right away.  Is the appointment early in the day?

Jane, what fun to go to the quilt show with your friend, Kathy.  Do the quilters sell some of their work after the show?  I won a beautiful small quilt a couple of years ago at our annual Christmas Cookie Walk.  It is done in blues with white, red, and yellow accents.   Kris made a square quilt for my Christmas gift after I moved to Auburn.  She put family pictures in every square.  The colors were several shades of blue.  And Bill's wife Dawn also quilts.  She made quilted placemats with Auburn "AU"s, football helmets, Tiger paws, and Aubie's eyes.  Another Christmas she made a topper for a round table in my living room which has light blues with Snow Men Applique's on the skirt.  I also have some handmade quilts which are wearing out.  Bob's mother and her mother made many quilts and these are almost worn out after three generations of use.

Hi to Marilyn, Darlene, MaryPage, Joy, and whoever else I've missed today.  Have a nice rest of the afternoon, Buddies.
Sue

jane

Sue, no, none of the quilts are for sale.  It's an exhibition of award winners and people's projects of this past year.

The big quilt sale I'd like to attend is the one yearly at Kalona, Iowa, of quilts made by the Amish and Mennonite women.  Many of those go for BIG $$ to benefit the Mennonite Relief Fund. They have security guards there because of the value of these works of art.

http://www.kalonaiowa.org/QuiltShow.htm

Sharon...I worry, too, that this will not be a peaceful transition of power.  That really has me concerned, and what may happen at some election sites.  I hope it's all peaceful and civil.

maryz

We've started the works towards getting me out of here on Thursday or Friday.  I've met almost all of the OT goals - still have to have her around while I take a shower.  Lots of work yet on the PT, but I don't need to be here for that.

There are so many brush/forest fires in our area now.  The smoke was really heavy this morning, but has cleared now.  It'll probably settle down into our valley again overnight.  Everything is tinder-dry, so the least little spark will set something off, and the wind carries it.

Hugs to all the Buddies!
