A short note to let you know that my mouth is slowly improving. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Sure hope I am improving at a  normal pace. Tonight I am feeling 'out of sorts.'

Sorry about the drought. It is scary.

Improving is Good, Ginny Ann!

A lovely, lovely morning has dawned here on the bay.  I have to work on a stack of this month's birthday cards and try to reorganize my address book in my new Xfinity email account; a truly tedious project.  Outlook Express crashed last week, and cannot, after 18 years, be restructured.  It faithfully followed me along and served me through 4 computers, and now has disappeared into Old Programs hell, wherever that hangs out!  After my chores are done, or I get bored to bits, whichever comes first, I am going to settle down to Season 2 of Outlander and binge on that all through election night returns.  One of my kids will let me know when it is all finally over.  Rob will come tomorrow to take me out to lunch, and daughter Elizabeth plans to come down to spend Inauguration Day with me.  They have it all figured out.
Have a beautiful day, Dear Buddies.  I do wish I knew why we don't hear from Molly anymore.  I miss her very much.

maryz

Glad you're still on the road to dental health, Ginny Ann.  You'll be bound to feel better when your mouth is better.

Love your photos, MaryPage - the geraniums are lovely.

I pass my "take my own shower" test this morning for the OT tech, and the PT tech had me walking briefly with a cane, so things are progressing toward release.

It was still smoky from all the fires this morning, but not as bad as yesterday.  They continue to burn, though.

We had some sad news.  My dear son-in-law Randy's mother died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon.  She's had heart/lung/diabetes problems for years, but this was fairly sudden.  She was (I think) in her late 80s.  MaryPage, this was our Alison's other grandmother.

Oh, how very deeply sad for Alison.  I am so sorry.

Good news, sounds like you will be home soon. They do it different in your area. I have had friends have the knee operation and came home next day . They  had to go take PT . As a  out  patient.  I would prefer your way
I think daughter is counting on that.she is the Nov 22 for operation and planning on doing the big TG day cooking she does. Every year. She may be surprised . She should be thinking more on her health and less on doing all that work. I live 1200 miles from her. She Has 3 daughter in laws she should let do it.

Mary, I'm so glad you're getting closer to going home. I know that will be a big relief.  I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know Alison & Randy must be devastated, especially since it was so unexpected. We have fires in the NC forests too.  Scary.

Jeanne, I hope your daughter's surgery goes well, but even so, I doubt that she will be cooking TG dinner!

Ginny, glad things are improving for you.

I finished getting the pansies in in the patio pots, so feel like a big burden is off of me.  I haven't done much else.  I guess I will watch a taped movie tonight and then read. I'm sure not going to watch all the election returns. John will probably keep tabs on it and give me updates.  So glad all this is over.  Hi to all.  Sharon

SCFSue

Hi Buddies,  I was in here earlier, but was having keyboard problems and couldn't type anything.  After dragging out another old keyboard, it didn't work, either, so I got down on the floor, blew out dust, etc. under everything and so far, I'm able to use the keyboard.

Tim took me to see a lawyer who will revise my will this afternoon and then took me to vote.  I'm sure my selections for President and the Senate will not win, but I couldn't bring myself to vote for anyone else.  We had several amendments on the ballot, also.  Some of these don't apply to our city/county, so didn't vote on them.  We got there about 3:30 and the polling place was very busy.

I have PBS news on now which I trust and which I believe tries to deliver the news without favoritism.  So far, it's not going as well for my candidates as I'd like--and I wrote in Bernie Sanders for President as I don't like either of the other candidates.  And of course that was a waste of my vote.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.
Sue

JeanneP

Was saying on the news tonight that When George Bush voted he voted  straight Republican but did not mark for President.  Bet a lot of people didn't mark a vote for them. Its your right to do that they say. Now can you just write in another persons name or do they have to have signed up in order for you to be able to do that? That is something when a man who was once President can't bring himself to vote for another person running for his Party.  Wonder if this has happened before.
JeanneP

joyous

Well, if I had not voted for President, I would not have
voted at all.  I almost "threw up" when I filled in vote for
president, however. Neither was my choice----truly---but
I can say I VOTED. :(
JOY

jane

Morning, Buddies...

Beautiful morning here and I'm looking forward to lunch and bridge with "the girls."

Joy....apparently lots of voters shred your dislike of both.   It'll be good to not have to be deluged with all those political ads.

SCFSue

When I read this morning's headline, I was appalled--and sorry for our country.  Neither of the Presidential Candidates were suitable, IMO.  I am worried about what this selection will bring to America.

Enough said.  I'll just have to hope that Trump's advisors can keep him from doing something STUPID, especially internationally.

It's a cool, cloudy day here, but again no rain in our forecast.  The whole state of Alabama is in drought with watering restrictions.  I still have about a half barrel of rain water in my rain barrel, so I will water my new pansies with that, but my azaleas are looking awful.  I have too many that need watering and I can't carry buckets from the rain barrel to them.  There have been several wild fires in areas where it is the driest.

I have a load of wash in the washer, have taken my morning walk, showered-but am not dressed for bridge yet.  I need to get to work on reading the book I am to present to book club on Monday.  I volunteered like an idiot because the title, Braiding Sweet Grass sounded familiar.  I thought I was about the Gullah/Geechee women who braided grass baskets and sold them on the highways near Charleston, SC.

My washer just finished a load so I need to put it into the dryer and get to work on the book.  It is interesting, but tedious to read--the author is a descendant of the Potowatami tribe and much of the book is about their folk lore.

Have a nice day, Buddies.
Sue

SharonE

Joy, like you, I voted but could hardly make myself mark for Pres. as I disliked both too.

And Sue, like you, I hope Trump finds good advisors and listens to them.

After planting the pansies, etc. my back has really been bothering me this morning, so I took a Flexeril. I hope it helps.  My knee was also very stiff and sore. I have no idea why, but I put an elastic brace on it and it feels better.

Jeanne, a write-in vote can be for anyone, but the state has to allow write-ins. SC doesn't allow them for Pres.

I wonder if Mary may get to come home today.  I hope so.

Hi to all.  As Jane said, at least all the political ads are over.  Sharon

maryz

It's looking like Friday will be my go-home day.  The "officials" haven't talked to me yet, but that's what the therapist has told me. I'll continue to work for tomorrow if that seems at all possible.

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!

Well now it is over. I was surprised in a way that he won. We saw the worst of him, now lets see  what he can do.  I think all people were not happy with the choice they had but just had to pick one.
He now has his chance to prove himself. Will he be all Talk or Action. Like Jeanne says. Should be a interesting 4 years ahead.

Sharon, Jeanne, Jane, and SCFSue: I share your thoughts
completely. At least I can say I voted, but :(

Hi everyone...it's cool and misty today in Texas...glad the election is over...I did vote for Trump....pray he will make America great again...Hi to all the buddies. Darlene

Marilyn

I voted buy not for Trump or Clinton, I just couldn't even force myself to vote for either of them I even changed my party affiliation when he got the nomination. Nowe I can change it back before the next election.

.

GinnyAnn

Life is the same here in NE OHIO. I voted on Tuesday.   Saw the heart doc today.  No changes from him.  He like, everyone else, wants me to move more.

MaryZ ~ I hope you can get home sooner rather than later.

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  We must all be having a bit of Election Fatigue today.  I'm guessing most of us voted--and I'm always glad to do that even though my choices didn't win.  We had some amendments to our state Constitution and I voted on a couple of them,  but not the rest because they don't affect Auburn/Opelika or Lee County.  I think many voters do vote on ones affecting other counties, but I don't think I should butt into another locations business.

I've been busy reading Braiding Sweetgrass  this morning.  I still have 2 chapters left and I need to make notes for my presentation at Monday afternoon's book club.  It was a pretty long slog through lots of information that was not my cup of tea.  This is my punishment for assuming the Sweetgrass of the title was about the basket ladies of Charleston and Coastal South Carolina.  Totally different and more difficult reading.

GinnyAnn, moving more is a good thing--even when you're not enthusiastic about it.  Do you have a safe place to walk outside near your home?  Even up and down the driveway a couple of times a day might help.  I take my trusty cane outside every morning and walk the 3 blocks down to the corner and back.  I want to get the brace off my right leg and am hoping that will help.

Well, at least there is one thing I'm thankful for about the election.  I am very thankful I don't have to mute my TV when the political ads come on.  One local one that is particularly annoying is paid for by "Twinkle" (that's my REAAAAL name) Andress.  She is some kind of commissioner--doesn't do much but this is the second or third time she's run and been elected and as far as I can see, just a waste of the voter's time.  She came from a tiny little community named Jamback which is in the same county as my farm.  It's called Jamback because it's jammed back up in the sticks!  I don't know what her birth name was, but it wasn't Twinkle.  She changed it legally--and I'm sure the voters who support her think it's cute.

I'm off to rest on my bed and re-read a favorite novel.  I haven't decide which one yet.

Have a nice day, Buddies.
Sue

maryz

I hear that, too, GinnyAnn - you've got to get out and move more!  And I'm really such a slug. LOL  I guess with this new knee, I'll have to do something to warrant all this time, effort, and expense.  I know I'll be glad to get back into the pool - whenever that time comes.  Good luck to you, GA!

I'm told I can leave here about 11 in the morning.  I have to talk with the nurse about general stuff, but then Jean can take me home.  Yea!  I've met all the PT and OT goals that they had for me here, and all tell me I'm doing well.  I know there's still more to come with the PT folks back at the Terrace.

Sue, our basketball is about to start - and with a bang for us.  We open with an away game at Rutgers! and then our home opener is against Florida.  Coach Foster says "then we get into the tough part of the schedule!"  I don't know when I'll be able to start going to games, though.

The forest/brush fires keep burning, seemingly unabated, with new ones starting every day.  I-75 in our area was slowed way down most of yesterday due to brush fires and smoke along the highway.  One subdivision was evacuated, at least for a few days, but they hope they'll be able to keep the fire away from the homes.  And absolutely NO rain in the forecasts.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Where is everyone today?  Mary, are you home and getting settled in?  I hope you will be comfortable and able to get to the dining room and PT okay.

Ginny, glad there were no negative changes in your heart.

I just got back from taking Bunny to the vet for a recheck. Unfortunately, she still has infection, so they put her on 2 different antibiotics for the next 3 weeks. I sure hope that takes care of it.  Cost another $180. She sure is getting to be expensive.

My back is killing me today. Between the planting and the grocery shop, my back says enough.  Sharon

maryz

Home!  Lots of work still to do, but glad to be back.  Kind of dogging it today, but Jean will have me working more by tomorrow.

Our Lady Mocs were way ahead of Rutgers with 5 minutes to go.  Yea!

Happy weekend,  Buddies!

Very windy here in western suburbs of Chicago.  Nothing much going on here...big wedding stuff is tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Cottoncandy

Ginny hope you are feeling better....I try to walk every day...I can tell the difference when I don't...MaryZ glad you are back home....sounds like you did very well...Not much going on with me...disgusting to see all the protestors in Austin....all I can say is it's unnecessary....Trump won....respect that and if you or me aren't happy in 4 years....vote for someone else....Darlene

Hi Buddies.  This has been a busy day for me.  This morning at 9:30, Bonney and Jean picked me up and we all went together to the Veteran's Memorial Park for a service honoring all Veterans, both living and dead.  We had a short speech by a female Major who is the head of the ROTC department at Auburn University.  She is a very good speaker and I'm pretty sure will be a good leader of the young people who are enrolled in ROTC classes.

After the program, Bonney, Jean, and I attended the reception the city hosts at the Chamber of Commerce.  Some of the students from Drake Middle School and their parents attended also.  They sang at the Veteran's program.  The day was sunny, but cool, so it was pleasant to sit in the Park and enjoy the event.

Mary, our basketball is starting on Dec. 4--a double header with women first and men second.  I have my tickets already, but since I'm not able to drive yet, I don't know how I'm going to get there.  Hopefully, someone who is a "Village Friend" with women's basketball tickets, I might be able to get a ride to the arena.  I sure hope so.

Sharon, I'm so sorry to hear about Bunny's health problems.  I hope these new antibiotics help.

Jane, it's good to hear from you in Chicago.  Enjoy the wedding festivities tomorrow.  Will you go home on Sunday or Monday?

Darlene, although I didn't vote for Trump or Hillary, I'm hoping that the country can come together and be civilized about the results.  There is absolutely nothing we can do about it.  We just have to let it play out.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.

Hi every Buddy, Keith has gone to the high school football game with a friend.  Today I've had a terrible time with the vertigo. this time it was pretty rough. I was bending over giving Freckles her vitamin and allergy pill with it came on strong, I told Freckles I have to sit down. As soon  as the room stopped spinning and I could walk without falling down, I made it to my chair in the living room and sat down. She was immediately in my lap pressing her body against my chest and put her head on my shoulder as if she didn't want me to move at all. Now i ask Was that a Service dog move or what? I've been working with her to be a service dog,  and she sure showed her stuff this morning. That was the first time she had to respond to a Vertigo attack.

Tomorrow we are attending the funeral service for Keith's boys maternal grandfather.  I told him he needed to go for his boys. I sent an email to all the boys and the response back was that it was ok with their mother as long as we only went to the service and not to the gathering afterward. We didn't want to go to the gathering  anyway.

JeanneP

Got up early and started on the work outdoors. It was all done last Saturday but had even more leaves on it this week.  As it was cleanup day in the area and nice day I thought would be people out. But no. Think I was the only one. There were people who own Condo Building and such all out doing the area. Worked out good for me as about 6 men and some women doing Maintenance. I asked if they would hold off mowing until I raked my leaves over to the front land. They told me to just let them take care of all mine for me as they had big mowers. Power blowers lots of Equipment. Got all my bushes and yard and so all I had to do was sweep porch. Looks so nice.  Will cry tomorrow when I see leaves on again. Trees still full.  Maybe these I will let stay for the winter. Mulch the grass.
JeanneP

maryz

Obviously things are very quiet this weekend.  The moon is several days from full, but very beautiful from my door.  The smoke has been very thick all day, but seems to let the moon shine through.

The home health coordinator came by today to get me set up for their services for the next few weeks.  This will include the nursing services here at the Terrace and the PT under their auspices.  The Terrace nurse came by to take vital signs, so I'm definitely getting checked.  Jean and I went up to lunch and dinner in the dining room - good to say Hi to my fellow residents.  And Jean had me walking in the hall and doing some exercises.  She's been so good taking care of me - and I know she's ready to get back to her own home and her sweet dog.

I hope all your teams won today and will tomorrow, too.

Good Morning I am up early this morning and have had 1 cut of awesome coffee. The service yesterday was so nice. Two of Keith's sons spoke about their grandfather. Their mother was very cordial to both of us I even gave her a hug.

Where is everyone, not many posts yesterday, I am guilty of that also, but I did come in to read the happenings.

Mary glad to hear you are now jhome and working on your PT there. Walking the halls and getting around some.

Jeanne I see you are getting some yard work done, I still have to get out there and prune the roses, and azaleas. It is going to be a mild winter according to the weather websites,. La Nina, brings lots of rain but mild temperatures in the northern parts and I see that California will still be in a bad drought.

I had a terrible Vertigo episode on Friday as I was bent over giving Freckles her Vitamin and allergy pills. as soon as the room stopped spinning I moved to the living room and sat in my chair Freckles immediately jumped into my lap and laid her body against my chest and her head on my shoulder, she sure wasn't going to let me move. Way to go Freckles with her Service Dog Training.

maryz

Marilyn, glad that you and Freckles are doing so well.  Yuck on the vertigo, of course!  Obviously, the decision to go to the funeral was a good one.  You're good to have encouraged it.

Jeanne, glad the crew got most of your yard work done.  John always said he loved our oak trees - except in the fall.  LOL

Nothing new here.
