Marilyn...nasty for Freckles to be attacked.

Sue...a nice treat for your bridge players.

Our new neighbor one house over moved in with four dogs.  The rottweiler was roaming the neighborhood, but they must have gotten the message that's not allowed in town, and have put up a big fence.

Another cold, gloomy, and wet day here in the Midwest rural area.

We did have a good day here yesterday.  An electrician we'd contacted finally called and said he could come that afternoon.  He did, and had the three small jobs we needed completed all fixed, was paid and on his way to another job.   It is so hard to get an electrician here for small jobs.

I also tackled my computer desk area and got the top cleaned off and the large file drawer cleaned out and papers organized into four file folders.  Feels good to have that more organized.

Today is bridge, and I'm looking forward to that.

Jane

JeanneP

It is hard now to get anyone who wants to do small jobs. I was spoiled for 40 years having a friend whose husband business was more of Handyman.  Could do everything. Kept my place running smooth. Now he is 93 but has had Alzheimer for past 9 years. Still live across the road. Dont think he recognizes me now but I just sit and talk to him like he does.  Makes me sad.

Still sort of dreary day here. stopped raining . They are saying it will be 70 deg over the weekend. Hope dry as they are coming to clean up my yard.  I finely saw the man who does my grass cutting and he says he was Ill over the winter but will still do my yard this summer.  He now 84 . seems his knees not good but he rides mower.  Only another thing as we age.  Everyone ages with us. Most my Doctors of last 40 years are now either retired or passed on.
JeanneP

SharonE

I just got back from the ortho. He says I have fluid on the knee and possible meniscus tear. I'm to get an MRI on Sun and then can't see him until May 3 to get anything done. Grrrr.

We had severe thunder storms about noon, but then that stopped and then just heavy rain since.  A long drive to and from in the rain, but we need it.

Jane, glad you found an electrician. We have a handyman that can do most things including electrical and plumbing. So nice to have.  There are actually a lot of handymen in SC, but this one used to live across the street, so we've stuck with him.  Scary about the neighbor with the rotweiler. Glad she put up a fence.

Jeanne, glad your yard man is going to continue to help you, but sounds like you need to be looking for another one who is younger.

Sue, your movies sound good, especially since you like football.  Hope your bridge game goes well tomorrow.

Marilyn, you've had a real time with the cars. I hope you can get one of them up and running soon.  Too bad about your hospice patient.  It seems like they don't last very long after they call in hospice.

All for now.  Sharon

Marilyn

The car situation just happened to be both at the same time. But mine is getting fixed first. Subaru's are good cars, even if Keith keeps complaining that I should have kept my 88 Chevy celebrity. We had a lot of $$ in that car too and he complained about that. So I just let him complain and  don't argue with him.  My car is a 2007 and has 110 Thousand miles on it. Only one owner before me.
His Camaro has more miles on it than mine and is a 2000, never had any work done on it until now. and it has a lot of work to be done. He says I should have bought a Chevy or kept my old car.

maryz

Marilyn, sorry about the dog attacking Freckles.  I would've thought any dog out and around would have better manners and be on a leash.  And too bad about your cars - that's why I have no affection for cars.  There's always something wrong with them.

Sharon, sorry about your knee.  I hope it can be helped with something done in the office.  But a meniscus repair usually isn't too bad, and is just done arthroscopically.

I hope Sue didn't have any bad weather - there were some severe storms in southern Alabama.  We didn't even get a drop of rain from this morning's line of storms that came through.  But they're still predicting severe weather later this evening.  And then it's supposed to be unseasonably cold for a couple of days.  Oh, well - it's spring!

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

JeanneP

I tried today to not take a nap. Think I have gotten the habit.  It has poured down hard all day today and still coming.  I just don't sleep as good at night if I nap. Today it lasted almost 2 hours. Only seems to hit me when dark and dreary. Come on Spring.
Let me turn the News off. Just awful again.  Keeps showing the Chemical Attack on Children. We don't need to be showing every news.  Now again Trump saying fault of Obama. Now I don't know why he shows his hate for Obama so. Never as a new man in  office gone on so hard. I hate that.

Time to fix dinner. Stuck with chicken today. Freezer getting empty.

Jeanne..I can't and don't nap durning day.....I do lay down and read...but don't sleep...otherwise I couldn't sleep all night...I had chicken dumplings for supper..enough left for a couple more meals...Marlyin..hope your car troubles end soon....I had solar screens put on 5 of my windows.....going to see how I like them before doing more..Sharon sorry you are having knee problems...hope Sue isn't in the bad weather path...Hi to Mary and Jane CC

Marilyn

They are working on my car as we speak. they just called to ask if I had put any stop leak in the radiator. No I haven't.

I started to take Freckles for her 2nd walk just now and it is starting to rain. Bummer!.  The sun is shining and it is  starting to rain. What's up with that?

Marilyn....good news on getting your car fixed.  I'm the opposite of K.  I hve my car serviced regularly, and want any rattles or things that feel "off" fixed immediately.  Driving 60 miles roundtrip on rural roads to work all those years made that a must do for me.

Sunny  morning and it's very welcomed!

We solved a problem yesterday with my car.  The lock wasn't opening when I clicked the little button on the handle first thing in the morning, and it turns out both of the fobs had batteries that were weak. They were replaced under my four year warranty, so should be good for a couple more years.  It's one of those "good for five years" thing that needs replacing in 3.5 years.  We learned that with the "fussy" me hanic we had who said he always replaced his "good for five years" batteries every three years!

Nothing much here...laundy, grocery store, a walk, and maybe I'll go along with Ray to the golf course and drive the cart this afternoon if it warms up as promised.

Jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, I did the grocery shopping early yesterday so that John could carry it all in for me before he left for bridge. Sure was glad I did.

Ms Frances had to go to the ER yesterday. Turned out it was dehydration, but even though she has bottled water or a glass at hand, she just doesn't drink it.  They gave her an IV of saline yesterday and she felt some better, but she is in kidney failure and I don't think she will be with us much longer. I went over and sat with her about 3 hrs last evening & will go over again tonight.  She needs to be in assisted care.

Bunny is at the groomers and they just called me to say she's ready.

Mary, I'm really pleased with what the ortho said because I was so afraiad I was going to have to have a full knee replacement.  This may entail a laproscopic repair, but I think I can handle that.

Jane, so glad it's warmed up. I envy you riding on the golf course with Ray.

I've got to run. Hi to those I didn't mention. Sharon

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  I was home all day yesterday, but we had high winds and tornado warnings and I didn't turn my computer on.  The wind brought down lots of leaves and small limbs.  I did pick up the ones in my driveway as my bridge club was coming at 12:30 and I didn't want to cause problems for my friends.  I've cleaned up more pollen strings than I can count today!

Tim took me to the bank today to get some paper work completed that we needed notarized and I got some money out of my account.  Afterwards he took me to the doctor's office (the one who will do my hopefully last!) colonoscopy on the day after Easter.  I will be missing church and the family's Easter dinner as I will be drinking the "yuck" stuff--although it doesn't taste as bad as it used to.  I have to have this one because 3 years ago he found 3 small polyps.    After we stopped at the doctor's office, he took me to Kroger for my weekly shopping.

This afternoon after lunch I retired to my bedroom and finished reading the book club selection for April, The Boys in the Boat, which is about the Washington U. sculling team in the 1936 Olympics.  We'll discuss it on Monday at book club.  Very interesting and thought provoking.  Some of the team are wealthy, some very poor, but work wonderfully together and their coach and the boat designer are great role models.  It's an uplifting book.  You might remember that the '36 Olympics were held in Germany and Hitler and Goebel ruled!  But the "Boys in the Boat" managed to place first and Hitler and Goebel stomped off the platform.

I'd hope to go to lunch with Bonney and shopping for some new furniture for my deck to tomorrow, but she's having visiting children/grandchildren  and will be too busy.  We'll try to schedule it for another weekend.

Sharon, I'm sorry to hear about Ms. Frances.  It does sound like she needs to be in assisted living facility.

Have a nice evening, Buddies.
Sue

Nothing new going on around here.  Today was a lovely day, just a bit cooler than it has been.  The trees are all leafing out, the dogwoods are in bloom.  The bluebird couple in the birdhouse have gone nuts eating up the mealy worms.  I may make a trip to Walmart tomorrow morning, just to get bird food.  I played duplicate this afternoon - we came in just a little below the middle.  Not bad, but nothing particularly good, either.

Sue, Not having to mess with yard stuff, especially the oak strings, is just of the many things I enjoy about not being a home owner.  I hope you got some good cards today.

Sharon, sorry about your Ms Frances.  Like you, I'm sure she should no longer be living alone.  You're a good friend to her to help take care of her.

Marilyn, hope your car is working well by now.

jane, How was your ride in the golf cart.  Sounds like a good way to have a day out in the sunshine.

Happy weekend to all the Buddies!

GinnyAnn

Hi my friends  :)  I don't remember when I last posted  :-[   Did I tell you about my fall?  Ray and I were going out and at the door I fell and couldn't get up on my own. So, Ray dialed 911 because he couldn't get me up.  :(  The paramedics helped me get up, then drove me to the emergency room. Nothing was broken. That was a relief because I have osteoporosis. I had to go through physical therapy. It really helped. I was lucky that the therapist could come to the house. At this point I have completed the PT. Ray is keeping at me to move more so I can build up my strength.

maryz

So good to hear from you, Ginny Ann.  That's terrible about your fall.  I'm glad you had such good PT.   And Ray is right - keeping moving is SO important.  The old saying "if you don't use it, you lose it" is even more true as we get older.  I know I need to do that myself.  Lots of hugs from here - and keep moving, even if it's just around the house.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Hi Gals.  Welcome back, Ginny. We've been worried about you. I'm so sorry you had a fall but glad the PT was so helpful.  We all need to keep moving. I keep hoping that if I get the nerve stimulator implanted that I will be able to do more.

Mary, you must really be enjoying your bluebirds. I hate that we no longer have a house that they like. However, they do still come here for food and water so I do get to see them.  Coming in in the middle in duplicate is not bad. It is such a competitive game.

Marilyn, I, too, hope you got your car back.

It's a beautiful sunny day here today, high to be 67, wind has quit.

I took Bunny to be groomed yesterday and she looks so pretty.  This morning, I took her to the vet for a urinalysis and recheck, but she didn't have enough in her bladder to do it. They wanted to do a sterile draw.  So I take her back Monday.

Tomorrow I have the MRI on my knee at 3:00.  I hope we can go to Lowes and get some flowers after church.  My pansies are so crowded and really not looking that great now.

Sue, your book sounds interesting. There were a lot of stories from that Olympics.  Glad we don't have any pollen strings. What kind of tree do they come from?  Glad you got your banking and grocery shopping done.  Tim is good to help you with that.

I need to work on my reunion project this afternoon. Finding all the clipart of all the careers people in our class were involved in.  I also have a load of laundry in.

Jane, hope you have another nice day.  Hi to Darlene.  Sharon

jane

Hi, Bosom Babes!

GinnyAnn.....so good to see your post.

Another sunny and warmer day here!  As soon as Ray finishes up with his work, I hope we can get out for a walk.  It's been too wet, cold, and windy earlier this week.  The golf course was so empty yesterday afternoon, that Ray could use the round for practice....hitting two or three balls on occasion and not holding anyone up.  He was tired after 7 holes and my legs were cold.  I had on jeans, abd my parka, glove, and a hat...the wind was that chilly for me!

Last night we went to a place about 15 miles from here, but I comtinue to be disappointed in their food.  The place is quite busy, so it must just be me.

Bed is changed, sheets are in the wash, etc.

Funny thing...last week at our Fri. Night, we got on the subject on mattresses and sheets.  One couple is thinking of changing to a queen size, but she lamented she'd have to buy all new sheets.  But, I said, you have queen size sheets for your RV....which they use maybe 10 weeks a year.  Well, yes, but those sheets stay in the RV! She said.

I replied, but you talk about all the time it takes you to load the RV with clothes, etc.  Would a set of sheets really be that big a burden.

She said:  I need 4 sets of sheets because I like variety.

The other 4 of us were dumbfounded.  One couple has one set they wash and put back on their bed.  We have two sets I rotate.   Do you gals have 4-5 sets or fewer???

Jane...who has two sets for our king bed.

Marilyn

Jane I have three sets one set is mismatched one set I got at a free grarage sale, and one set I don't really like but use it anyway.

I got my car back. it was just over 2000$, They had to flush the cooling system twice because there was some white  powdery stiff clogging up[ everything. I was told to always use the same brand of coolant. weThibnk it may have been cause by some old coolant that Keith found in  the garage and put in the radiator and overflow  chamber. It could have beedn a chemical reaction. no one knows for sure. It runs great now. the check engine light that has been on since right after we bought the car is now off.

Ginny Ann so good to see you posting again. Sorry to hear about your fall.

Sherry I sure hope you can get good results from the nerve simulator.

maryz

Marilyn, ouch for the bill on the car - but you know it will be working well.  And that makes it worth it.

jane, before I moved, we had two queen-sized beds, and I probably had 5-6 sets for the two beds.  I brought three sets with me when I moved.  The cleaning crew here changes the sheets every week, so one goes on the bed while the previous set is being washed.  The third set was just as insurance for me, in case maybe I got sick in the bed and needed an extra.  But no new ones in quite a while.  Funny thing, one set is blue, two are white (but different "pattern").  The cleaning gals obviously like the blue one best.  They put it on every other week, and alternate between the white ones.

Beautiful, warm, and sunny day here.  The Masons had a pancake breakfast at the fairgrounds and Ray was working there, so I went up and had breakfast with him.

He's gone out to the golf course, and I'm going to try and walk a bit.  The joints are bothering me, but I'm going to try to walk a little, anyway.

Hi Gals. I'm finally home and have a few minutes to myself. I've been to SS & church, Lowes to get some flowers but they didn't have what I wanted, home for lunch and then got a pot roast & carrots in the oven, put in a load of laundry, then went to get my MRI, filled up with gas on the way home, changed the clothes in the washer & put in another load and Whew! I'm beat!!

It's a pretty sunny day today and about 70, I think, but my joints are aching too, Jane. I hope you got your walk in, but I'm in for the day now!!  I'm thinking about watching the end of the Masters, but may read instead.

On sheets, I have several sets, but only 2 that I use regularly. I plan to donate the others. I just don't like the way they fit.

Marilyn, I"m glad you have your car up and running, but what a price!  Tell Keith not to add anything more to your engine or radiator.

All for now. Sharon

maryz

Sharon, I'm surprised they did your MRI on a Sunday.  I didn't think anybody did anything like that on a weekend.  When will you hear the results?

Glad you're getting some Spring, jane.

Nothing new around here.  Just laundry and lovely weather.

GinnyAnn, I'm especially glad to see your post today.  I'm sorry about the fall, but glad the therapy has helped.  I've missed you and hope you feel up to posting more often.

Mary, I do very little in the house because the Molly Maids come every 2 weeks.  I have them change the sheets and I try not to make a mess inside the house.  I do try to keep things straightened up but they dust and mop my wood floors, clean the bathrooms, and run their vacuum cleaner.  So I'm sleeping on sheets at least 2 weeks, but I shower daily and think that might be enough.  At least I hope so.

Sharon, I hope your MRI gave you and your doctor some answers.  Have you ever had torn cartilage removed from your knees?  My orthopedic surgeon put 2 little holes in my left knee some years ago. He put a tiny camera in one hole and some kind of tiny thing that sucked out the broken cartilage.  It didn't hurt and I've not had pain since.  I did extensive rehab at a local rehab clinic here in Auburn after the surgery.

Jane, I have 2 sets of flannel sheets for winter and 2 sets of percale sheets for warm weather.  It has been cool here this week and not expected to get much warmer this coming week, so will have the Molly Maids put a flannel set back on when they come Tuesday.  I wash the sheets on Maid day when they change them.  This works for me.

Marilyn, I'm glad you got your car back and it's running well.  Oops on the cost, though, pretty steep. Did you have another solo at church this morning?

I'm not going to church next Sunday (Easter) as I have to start the prep for my colonoscopy which is on next Monday at 8:30 at the hospital.  I'm hoping he doesn't find any polyps this time--last time was supposed to be the last, but he removed polyps and that's why I have to have at least one more colonoscopy.  So Easter Sunday will be drinking lots of yucky and not so yuck liquids!

I finished reading our book club selection for this month.  We'll discuss it tomorrow afternoon.  It is The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown and is about Washington U.'s sculling team and how they won the sculling trophy at the 1937 Olympics--and where Hitler and Goebel were furious about it!  (Jane, I don't have any of the options to underline or anything else at the bottom of my posts).  This is a really good non-fiction account and very uplifting.

Have a nice rest of your Sunday!

Hi buddies...Ginny was good to see your post..sorry about the fall..my SIL fell a few days ago..slipped in the mud fell on her face..had to have 5 stitches and had 2 black eyes...cat scan turned out ok...I have 4 sets of queen sheets..but only use 2. Regularly..I usually change sheets every week...since I only sleep on one side...I should just turn the bottom sheet and wash q 2 weeks...Sue good luck with ur colonoscopy...will you be drinking the full gallon of prep?.Im sure Mine is due soon..it's been almost 5 years...Jane...good you are getting your walk in...I need to get back to daily walks..Sharon I didn't know one could get MRI on Sunday either...Hi to Mary and Marlyin...Any others reading...Darlene

Marilyn

Sue I don't sing a solo until Easter, and another at a later date.

SharonE

Sue, that's lousy timing on the colonoscopy! What a way to spend Easter.  I won't see the NP to get the info on my MRI until May 3rd.  I've never had a tear in the meniscus before, but as I've said before, I had a partial knee replacement in 2004.  Hope I never have to go through such pain and weakness again.

Mary & Darlene, I guess the Ortho center wants to get full use of their MRI machine. They schedule them weekends and evenings as well as weekdays. I was surprised too. I could have gone during the week, but this way I got it over sooner.

Darlene, sorry about your sil's fall.  She really did a number on herself, didn't she?

Marilyn, good luck with your solo Sunday. What are you singing?

I have to take Bunny to the vet to be catherized for a clean urine sample today. I'm thinking that while they are doing that and running the test, I'll go get my toenails clipped and painted. I'd like to start wearing sandals soon.

Church book club tonight.  Nothing else going on here.  Hi to everyone.  Sharon

Overcast day here and colder...another front coming through so today is the second day of lots of joint pain.  Laundry is the only thing getting accomplished today.

Jane

SCFSue

Good Evening, Buddies.  Busy day here.  One of my neighbors died last week--and the memorial service was held at the local cemetery near me.  My neighbor Cheryl could not go because it was her turn for her Bunco group, but she did come down with a container of chicken salad and some grapes which she put in my fridge and then drove me over to the cemetery.  I was planning to walk over there, but she was appalled because she wouldn't do that--and she insisted on taking me over.

So I let her and the weather was sunny, but not too warm.  Mrs. Cadenhead was 85 years old.  She and Dr. C. who was my favorite professor at AU when I was working on my Master's degree live on the street directly behind me and I have been visiting them at least every week or so for several years.  She had been ill for quite some time and spent the last 3 weeks at Bethany House where those go who are not going to recover.  They were married 65 years, both having been teachers many years, too.  It was a lovely service and the first speaker was their longtime yardman who gave an emotional talk about his love for Ms. Fran and Dr. C.  The other speaker was a young man about the age of their son and he spoke fondly of both the Cadenheads, but I was more impressed by Mr. Cooper, the yardman, who has become my friend, also.  We always have a chat when he's there when I'm walking around the block.

Then at 3:00 my friend, Fredrissa, picked me up and took me to book club.  Our book this month was (U)The Boys in the Boat,(U) a non fiction story about the U. of Washington's 1936-37 rowing team who were selected for the 1937 Olympics after defeating the other American teams as well as Great Britain--and who defeated Hitler's team in Germany.  Hitler and Goebels were horrified and devastated with their loss.   This was a huge win for the United States.

So a nice day outside and it was nice to be there to support Dr. C. and his family.  Book Club was nice, too.  We had a good discussion.  I think some members didn't read the book, but those that did had enjoyed it very much.  I think some would prefer to read only fiction.

I hope you all have a nice evening and hopefully good weather this evening and tomorrow.

Sue

Hi Buddies - we had another lovely day today, with the huge full moon tonight.  Not much going on today, except for swimming and coffee, then bridge tonight.  My partner and I did have 47% and get 0.17 MP - so not a bad evening.

Sue, sorry for the loss of your friend.  Obviously she was well liked in the community.

jane, sorry your spring was so short-lived.  I hope you get more soon.

Marilyn, I know your community is glad to have you contributing so much.

Sharon, enjoy your pedicure.

Darlene, sorry about your sister-in-law - Ouch!

Hi to Jeanne and Ginny Ann and all others.

Back to "normal" temps, the "weatherguessers" say...still in low 50s and overcast.  Thank heavens the latest weather front has moved on east, and I can move around better.

Ray has an appt for first service on his car....at 10,000 miles...today.

Geez, remember when they had "breakin" oil and stuff at 500 miles.  Those days long gone, I guess.  I need to get up and moving..he,ll be back to pick me up at 9:00.

Have a good Tuesday!
