Still such heavy storms here. Streets beginning to flood.  Garth Brooks concert started last night and will be 2 shows today and one tomorrow.  over 20 thousand people attending each. Doubt he is to put off with the weather when making money like that.  What a mess it must be for the traffic over by the Stadium and those street flood out in place.  I am glad to be home. Say tornado about 6:30 so off goes my computer for the night.

We just had a squall line go through - I got 1.5" of rain in 30 minutes - with lots of lightning and wind.

Can you tell me why when I start writing a post on the previous page, copy it, and try to print what I wrote on this page--Nothing Happens?  Oh well, it wasn't all that important, so I'm just going to forget what I said--Except:

Mary, congratulations to Sarah on her fantastic accomplishments!  I know you are one proud Grandmother!

Jane, I'm glad to hear that Ray is feeling better.  He's had a rough time.  Also glad to hear you enjoyed the Sailor's choral group.  I've not seen them in person, but have seen them perform online and on TV.  They are terrific singers and put on a good show.

Jeanne, do you have a battery operated weather radio?  I have a little portable radio with batteries which I use when our power goes off during bad storms.  It's pretty reliable and lets me know when I need to take cover in the hallway.

I hope every Buddy has had a good day.  I've done some yard work, but spent more time watching movies.  First Mr. Roberts and then Exodus on TCM.  I've seen both several times, but are 2 of my favorites and I enjoyed them a lot.

Have a nice evening.
Sue

GinnyAnn

We have also had rain. Not fun but needed for May Flowers  ;D  I was out of sorts today and didn't even get dressed. Wore a nice lounger that I recently bought. It should be great when I can sit on the porch and enjoy myself.

SharonE

It's 1:30 and I'm wide awake again for the 3rd time in about a week!  Grrr.

Congratulations again, Mary, on Sarah's wonderful achievement. I know how proud you must be.

Jane, glad Ray is better and that you had such a nice time out last night. I've never heard them, but they sound wonderful.  Your sink is wonderful. I didn't know that they made quartz ones.  I have always defaulted to the stainless because porcelain scratches so easily.  The combination of colors is great too.

Sorry you all are getting rain in the MW and severe storms. They are headed our way for Monday.

I haven't done a whole lot the past couple days. I did finish my book club book.  The landscaper came yesterday and added a couple bushes and some verbena in front of the stone wall of our garden and also mulched it all. It looks  much better.  John worked out there too and got our solar lights straightened and looking good as well as doing some trimming.

Tomorrow is 5th Sunday so there is a big fellowship brunch in place of SS. This time it is also to be Pastor Appreciation Day and also the SS classes are going to set up tables to try and get new members.  I know I'm going to be a ball of fire after not sleeping!

Nancy did finally arrive Friday night and is still planning a low-key party for Frances tomorrow afternoon--just wine and hors d'oeuvres.  Then Nancy is leaving on Monday!!!! I wonder if she will even see her mother alive again.  I really think she is going down hill fast.

Ginny, glad you found a nice lounger to wear when you don't dress.  Always nice to have new things.

Hi Sue.  Sounds like your bridge was good and you're keeping busy.

All for now.  Maybe I can get to sleep before too much longer.  Sharon

joyous

We  (here in BatonRouge) have had some BAD weather here today.  When we were
in the dining room for lunch, the lights went, came back on in about 3 minutes, and went off again.  It left us in the dark  (it  was only Noon but very dark outside and inside.  The electricity came back on , permenently, in  a short time.  BUT what I did
not know was that it had turned off my computer and I was leery about that since I
am NO computer guru.  But all is well and the sun is shining now at 3:30 P. M.
All goes to show that Louisiana is like no other .
Also have to re-set my clocks (only one) that are electric-----Others....TV, Computer, etc. come back automaticall.
Joy

maryz

Joy, that storm line is due through here tonight.  We're in a tornado watch until 8 pmET.  Glad to hear you're safe.  Sue will probably be getting it, too.

Sharon, I hope you finally got some sleep and will do better tonight.

Looks like everyone is have bad wet weather.  Some States further North getting snow.
No Su,.  I don't bother about having a radio to follow the weather man. If the TV goes off and the lights out I just make do.  Was always a camper and I still have everything were I can get bye without Electricity in the winter. Have done it for 3 weeks at a time. Always food in the freezer and a way to heat it up.  No chance of me flooding as good drainage . I am  sort of surrounded by acres of land on all sides of me. No Buildings and Frontage to Interstate in the South.
It has finely stopped storming here after 4 days. No walking done at all. Just hope can get out tomorrow
What a great night for PBS. great shows from 6 pm to 10pm.  Have fixed and eaten dinner. Ate to much. Took a short nap. Will be comfy watching them all . I can't believe I have not shampoo my hair for 3 days. Looks pretty good . Think I am going to stop the daily shampoo anyway. they say takes the oil out of hair.  Before the shows start I think will get in shower and put a good conditioning treatment on it. Leave it 20 min. and rinse out. Then I will relax

Lets hope Spring comes back next week.  I had all my porch furniture out and all got soaked. Will take some hot days to dry them out. May just buy a new Patio rug.

Hi Buddies.  My young next door neighbors had company last night after dinner and were still outside with lots of lights on when I went to bed.  Despite pulling blinds and hoping they'd turn their light off, the party went on for quite a while--oh well, I had a good book going, so just ignored it.

Nancy G. picked me up for Sunday School.  I had to take Mary B's groceries from our trip to Kroger on Friday.  Tim was here when she brought me home (he'd been assembling my new deck furniture) and she put our bags out on the driveway and he brought hers inside.  So I had to take her bag to SS and put her bacon in the fridge in the little kitchenette where our office workers and pastors keep their lunch things.  I reminded her to take her stuff home, so I hope she did.

This afternoon I've been picking up downed wood from the storm of a few days ago and put them out on the curb as tomorrow is my trash pick up day.  Also emptied all the trash cans in the house.  I need to eat something for supper and then put out the kitchen trash and get the can down to the curb before dark.

I watched a cute movie this afternoon on TCM.  It starred Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Esther Williams, Jules Munchin, and Betty Garret.  Technicolor and lots of singing, dancing, and baseball!  After the news this evening, I'm going to watch Lilies of the Field with Sidney Poitier which I've seen, but it's a great movie.  It's on TCM, too.  Movies today seem so dark and not light hearted like these.

Darlene, I'm glad you didn't get the tornado.  I'm keeping watch as we might be in for storms tonight, too.

Mary, so far I haven't seen the local news but am sure they're going to talk about rain and probably high winds.  I hope it doesn't blow my cardboard, branches I picked up and everything else I have out on the curb for tomorrow's pick up all over the neighborhood.

Joy, I'm glad the storm passed you by without damage--and also glad your electronics came back on and are OK.

Sharon, what are you reading for book club?  I need to call one of my book club friends to find out what we're supposed to read for the second Monday.  I can't find my list.  So far, I haven't been impressed by this year's selections.

GinnyAnn, I'm glad you sat outside and enjoyed your new lounger while out there.  You must have been comfortable and I hope you had some sunshine and warm weather, too.

I wonder what Jane is doing today.  Having fun, I hope.

Jeanne, I'm glad to see your post--you must have been writing while I was writing here.  I hope you've had a nice weekend.

Have a nice rest of your Sunday,
Sue

Have a nice evening, Buddies.

Hi Gals,  Glad everyone is safe from the storms.  We have a radio w/battery backup that warns us of severe weather. We're to have scattered showers this afternoon and then storms about 5:00. I hope I get home from my MRI before then.

Jeanne, I only wash my hair twice a week.  At our ages, it is important not to strip the natural oils.  Now if I were out working and got sweaty, etc, that's another thing.  But I don't do much of that.

Yesterday, we went to the 5th Sunday breakfast which replaced SS and celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day. She was given gifts and everyone brought cards or notes thanking her for ways she impacted their lives.  It was very nice and she was very appreciative.  We left after the breakfast since the youth were leading the service and since I was so tired.  We did stop at Lowes and picked up the remaining flowers I needed. Then when we got home, I took a 2+ hour nap!  Woke in time to get dressed for Ms Frances' 99th birthday party. Mostly family there & just a few friends like us. Surprisingly, I slept well last night. I was afraid I wouldn't after napping so long.

This morning, I put in a load of laundry that didn't get done yesterday and then went out and finished all my pots.  I took the flowers out of one in the front because I didn't like what I had put there & had finally found another hibiscus for that pot + some trailing white flowers. Then I took those I had taken out of the front pot + the others I bought yesterday and did my back pots.  They look nice now and I was glad to get it done before it rained.  Now I'm going to have to go in and shower before I go in for my MRI at 3:30.  That's enough work for me for one day.

Sue, I read Mitch Albom's THE FIRST PHONE CALL FROM HEAVEN for our book club. It was okay, I guess, but not nearly as good as TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE.  Nice that you got new porch furniture and that Tim put it together for you.

Hi to Jeanne, Darlene, Mary, Joy, Marilyn and whoever else I've missed.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, glad you got some good sleep.  And that Ms Frances had a nice small party.

Re hair washing - since I was a teenager, I have had short hair and have washed my hair every time I take a shower.  Nowadays, though, I usually shower about every other day.  Like Sharon said, I don't usually get hot and sweaty, so it works for me.  Even in the hospitals or rehab centers or assisted living places, patients/residents are bathed only three times a week.

We had a little rain here over night.  But it rained hard this morning while I was at the Y, and when I got home, there was 2.5" in the rain gauge.  Now it's windy with bright sunshine.

Happy Monday, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Well we got two calls today from Keith's Dr. He is to see a Urologise on June 6th. My dr now his Dr too, said that she doesn't believe in the  wait and observe method.

The  Eye Clinic in Portland called to make an appointment for Keith with a Retina specialist for the 24th of this month. That is his birthday so we will be changing that appointment. It will be a 3-4 hr appointment so we will have to go up to Portland the day before, if it turns out to be an early morning appointment we can  probable drive back the same day  if  a later appointment we will have to stay over night again. When they made that appointment this morning I had forgotten it was his birthday.

I will probably be going to California for Savannah's graduation from Junior College sometime this month. The in June we go to Sunriver another 4 hour drive.  in Augutst to corey's wedding  and that is another 4 hr drive.  It looks like I will be doing a lot of driving this summer.

Marilyn, tough with all the doctor appointments and driving.  But I'm glad that Keith is getting the medical treatment he needs.

Marilyne.  Your husband seems to have had a lot of appointment with Doctors since he retired. It must be that we watch our health more once we stop working. I hardly ever had to go prior.  But its good he is getting it all taken care of. I had fantastic Health Insurance for 20 years when working at last job.  Very seldom used it other than for Physicals etc. Had Dental. Glasses everything.  Lost the Dental and Glasses come the time I needed them. That is the way it seems to go...

You will be doing a lot of driving this summer. Now have you gotten both cars all back into good running condition?

.Finely  the storms have left for awhile. I had to go to a appt. at 1pm and the wind was so bad that could hardly get the car door open.  Wanted to stop at grocery store but just made it to the library and then home. Now it is really heavy winds.
I have little in my freezer but make Salmon cakes yesterday and so have 2 left so this will be dinner.
I was amazed to see the man who cuts my grass out doing it this morning. After all the rain it had grown 6 inches in a week.   His machine did not seem to be going so fast but lawn looks nice.  I have those darn things blowing onto the patio off the trees. Keep sweeping but lots still coming down.

Think I am just calling it a day when it comes to going outdoors. Hope tomorrow better.

Jeanne we have my car all fixed up, his Camaro is still in the shop[, He can't drive anyway so we told them to take their time, His Corvette is in our garage but don't have any insurance on that one. I am going ton have to start driving the camaro from time to time.

You should drive the Camaro . I had one and loved it.
Sun is out. Better head out for awhile before it rains again. No.   Big plans for the day.

Jeanne I will be driving the Camaro from time to time just to keep it in shape after spending so much $$$to have it repaired.

Had a great workout at the gym this morning, But I do that 4 days a week any how. Also took Freckles for her first walk fo the day. I usually walk her 23-4 times throughout the day.

SharonE

Marilyn, what year is the Camaro?  Brian has a '68 that he has restored and shows in classic car parades and competitions. It is a black convertible.  He has worked on it for years, always doing something new to it.  I hope all Keith's medical problems are resolved with his appts. You are going to do a lot of driving.

I was busy most of yesterday, so kind of draggy today. My cleaning girl was here and cleaned out some cabinets for me in the kitchen and bath. She also cleaned all the shoe and sweater shelves in the closet for me.  Those things are just beyond me now.  She's glad of the extra $$$ and I'm happy to have things cleaned up.  I also told her the first cloudy day she comes, I want her to do all the windows inside.  The outside ones will get done when we have the house pressure washed.  I go to the ortho tomorrow to see what the MRI showed and what needs to be done to my knee.

Jane, has it warmed up some for you now?  I hope so.

I don't think I told you that Lori has received a promotion at her work and is now a Senior Manager at Here Technologies.  This is a major jump for her both in prestige and $$$. Much needed since she is now single.

Mary, you must have received an awful lot of rain this past month!  I bet you've gotten at least twice what we have.  So much of the rain goes NE of Charlotte and we get less than Charlotte.

All for now.  Have a nice evening.  Sharon

Sharon, Kudos to Lori - I'm sure it is well deserved.  We'll be waiting to hear what the orthopedist recommends.

Nothing going on here.  Just lovely weather for today and tomorrow - until the rain returns.  My body has never reacted to weather changes before, but for the last 6-8 months, it's been better than the TV.  I'll be having more conversations about this next time I see the rheumatologist.

Mary, I am keeping my hair short now and I wash it at least every 2 days, but if I'm going out someplace I wash it again the next day after the last time I washed it.  My hair tends to get oily if I let it go more than 2 days.

Marilyn, you're going to be busy chauffeuring Keith to doctor's appointments.  I hope he'll not need any more appointments after this round is over.  I'm glad you have plans for Sun River and the other engagements with your children/grandchildren.

Jeanne, I'm glad the rain has left you for a while.  I think we might be getting some more here later this week.

Sharon, it sounds like you've got a good cleaning lady.  My cleaning crew does a good job every 2 weeks, but it doesn't include any closet cleaning.  Just dusting, sweeping, damp mopping the hard wood floors and the tile floors.  They are in here and out in not much more than an hour.

Tim and Kris are going out of town next week.  So he has planned to take me to lunch on Friday (for Mother's Day) and then to Kroger to do my weekly shopping.  I'll miss him, but between me and his in-laws (Dave is on hospice care at home) they need a break.  Kris's sister will be down from Ohio to stay with Ard and Dave while they are away.

Have a nice evening, everyone.  Jane, where are you today?
Sue

jane

Evening, Babes!

The rains apparently have finally stopped, and it warmed up late this afternoon to the high 50s.  That is the warmest in a week.

We had a doc appt for Ray's arm in Dbq at 8:15 so an early rise for us.  Doc says another round of antibiotics and come back next Tues.

We did some shopping at Sam's Club for our weekend company from MN.

Looking forward to warmer weather this week.

Jane

jane

Finally!  Sunshine and blue sky this morning!  It's to get warmer, too...so it's all good.

Ray's gone off to swim (with his doc's ok) and I will be off to bridge. There's a big funeral in town today for a woman who is related to several of the women in our bridge group.  That's fairly common here when people of our generation came from families of 8-16 kids.  That has pretty well stopped...now a family of 4 kids is considered "large."

Jane

SharonE

Jane, can you even imagine having 16 children?!!  My dad was one of 9.  I'm glad women aren't expected to have such huge families anymore.  Three was definitely enough for me. Glad Ray is cleared to swim.  Enjoy your bridge.

Mary, the ortho said I need arthroscopic surgery.  It will be done as an out-patient. Don't know the date yet. I'm waiting for a call from the scheduling nurse.  It's going to be something to work that in with stim trial and perhaps stim implant!!  Do you think they will be able to put Humpty Dumpty back together again?

It's a beautiful sunny day, high 70's or maybe low 80's.
Sharon

maryz

Sharon, I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee in about 2000 or 2001 - and it worked for me until the replacement last fall.  I hope it works as well for you.  Just glad they keep finding repairs for these old bodies.

I just got back from our residents' meeting with staff.  Things seem to be going well around here.  The new management is really working to improve maintenance and amenities around the building.  And the residents are appreciative.  There are very few complaints any more at these meetings - just questions and comments.  Any problems seem to being addressed quickly.  And that's really nice to  have happening.

Happy Hump Day, Buddies!

Bridge was fun...and I ended up 2nd out of 7, so came out a quarter ahead!! :2funny:

Weather is nice, and I may even try to get out and walk a bit. We haven't been able to for more than a week with the cold, wet and windy days we had.

Hi Buddies!  Busy morning here.  I have my Thursday bridge club (meeting at Bonney's today) at 12:30.  Olyne is picking me up at 12:15.  I'm hoping she'll be OK with stopping at the public library afterwards to pick up a book I need to read by Monday's book club meeting.  If not, Tim is taking me out to "Mother's Day" lunch and then to Kroger for my weekly shopping.  He and Kris are going to Florida next week for a "mini-vac".

I've been doing laundry, showering, shampooing, ironing a shirt to wear, etc.  So busy, busy!

It's raining here this morning--my rain gauge broke when we had a freeze during the winter, so I don't know how much we've had so far.  I'm glad for the rain as I've not been able to pull my hoses to all my azaleas since my fall.

Have a nice day!  (Way to go, Jane, for winning the Big Money!)
Sue

JeanneP

It is still storming here still. Now on day 6. Lots of areas flooding and many schools closed because the school buses cant get down the street.  Farmer were not worrying last week even though they have the corn and beans planted. I would say they are now. It is suppose to warm up and stay in the 70 next week. Maybe that will help.
As usual I had to go out today in the storm.  Had my 6 month Appt. to get my ears cleaned out. I thought they were O.K but they found lots of Wax as usual. I can tell the difference.
Got stopped by a bad accident down the Road.  Right between the 2 big hospitals. 4 cars. had 2 ambulances there all ready and 2 from the other hospital heading to them.  The police did real good moving the traffic along. I hate seen accidents but yet you could see some people pulling over into the store parking lots so could stop and see.
I was so cold and wet as I also had to stop for groceries and gas. I am no in sweats and not going out again until all the rain has gone and it warms up.
JeanneP

Life here is the same. I have good days and not so good days. Need to get motivated to clearing out stuff. I was the family member that got much of the family stuff.
