Hi Gals, I've had a busy morning and am now ready to crash. Have been to get blood drawn at a hospital about 15 miles from here, stopped at Walgreen's to pick up some skin cream I had ordered. Then got home and put a load of laundry in, brought the trash cans in & did a few other piddley things, but now my back is screaming!

Jeanne, so sorry you are so waterlogged.  It seems like the same areas keep getting more & more rain and thus floods. The rains that we have had have more or less gone around us. Upper NC has had way too much and we aren't getting enough.

Jane, glad you were able to get out and walk yesterday. Congrats on the big bridge win!   ;)

Mary Z, I had arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue after my partial knee replacement in 2004 and have been fine since. I hope that's the case this time too.  How nice to hear that the new manager/owner of your facility is doing such a good job.  Often such changes are the opposite.

Ginny, I, too, have lots of family things, but what I have I'm keeping till I'm ready for the kids to take them or sell them at a consignment sale.  Hard to part with sentimental pieces though.  I hope your good days are out-numbering your bad ones now.  Force yourself to go out and meet friends or do something. It's hard to get motivated, but it does help.

Sue, re my cleaning lady, she doesn't work for a company and I pay her by the hour, so if I want extra things done, we arrange a day she can work more hours. She's glad for the extra $$ and I'm happy to get things done. She is hispanic, but has been here 25 yrs or so and speaks very good English. She worked for an older lady next door until she moved in with her son.

Hi Marilyn, Darlene, Joy and whoever else pops in.  Sharon

jane

Busy morning here as we get ready for arrival of Minnesota family tonight.  There are 6 adults coming, so we're busy getting things picked up and towels put out, etc.

Back after they leave Sunday,

I have collected so much mostly things I brought back from UK after many trip. Not to bad when mother passed but always loved things my Aunt collected in her Cottage. Lots of Brass small antiques. china. Most all have have in my house is from 75 to 150 years old. And I have collected Teapots. Bells. I just have to start clearing out.  My daughter just want modern. One grandson will take some antiques like Steins and some African carvings. How I hate to part with things. Need to do it in next couple of years though. Will just talk to Estate agent in town and see if she can add to her sales. Have a few things may give to the University museum . Will see.
I did finely sit with a Attorney and she is working on my Will and Estate. One of the old Law offices in Town.   Feel good getting that started.

Shoot - just bumped something and lost my post.  Oh, well.....

The abbreviated version - we had a nasty gray chilly day today - another 2" of rain.  Supposed to be down to 46 tonight.  But back into the mid80s coming up next midweek.

My partner and I didn't do too badly this afternoon - at 52%, even though no master points.  We did get top on one board, by a bunch - made an unbiddable slam on a game bid.  That was sweet.

Did I say I was going to be gone next week?  Sue is picking me up Sunday and going to Margaret's.  Then to Hendersonville where I will be one of the honorees at the Hendersonville League of Women Voters' celebration of their 50th anniversary.  I was one of the charter members back in 1967.  From there on Wednesday, we're going to meet up with lots of family in Harrodsburg, KY.  We have a house rented.  Some will be taking an all-day bourbon distillery tour, and all will be doing other touristy things - maybe a river trip, barrel-making factory visit, Shaker Village, etc.  I'm not sure how many will be there - maybe as many as 14, at one time or another.  Back here on the following Sunday (as far as I know).

Have a good weekend, Buddies!

SharonE

Mary, what a fun week ahead for you.  Congrats on being honored as a charter member of the LOWV.  The rest of the week sounds like lots of fun with family too.  Your squirrel is going to be lonely though!   ;)  Nice on the bridge.

Jeanne, good for you on getting your will in progress and starting on the downsizing.  It sounds like you have lots of interesting things to sell or give away.

Jane, have fun with your MN family this weekend.

I discovered that my pharmacy goofed on my tremor med that I had filled last week. It was supposed to be filled with 250 mg tabs to be cut in half. The filled it with the 50 mg that I had already been taking, so when I cut it in half, I really started shaking. Also think it may have led to my sleeplessness.  It didn't occur to me till last evening to check. They checked the new RX and admitted to the error, so need to go get the new med.  I took the 125 mg this AM and I could hardly keep my eyes open, so it's going to take some getting used to.

Ms Frances saw the dr. yesterday and he said that not much could be done for her now and just keep her comfortable. I knew that was probably the case, but hard to hear it from the dr.

No plans for us this weekend other than SS & church.  Hope you all have a nice one.  Sharon

JeanneP

MaryZ.  Sound like a good trip. I love that area of Harrodsburg. Like all of Kentucky
Don't know about this (  Some will be taking an all-day bourbon distillery tour,) I took my family there when they came from UK. Got a sample or 2 and I felt it. . I never have been to the Shaker Village. Wonder what you sample there.
I think that the weather will be better there next week and warmer. They seem to have had lots of rain and flooding also.

Bad news today from Auburn.  On Thursday when I was ironing a blouse to go to bridge club at 12:30, I had a slight episode of unawareness.  I showered, dressed, went to bridge and as we were completing our last round, I spaced out for a minute or two.  Bonney called Tim and asked him to come over to my house to check on me as Olyne was bringing me home.  When he got here, we sat down to discuss it and in about five minutes, I said(according to Tim) "oh, no!" and blanked out again.  He took me to the emergency room, where as usual I wasn't seen by a doctor for almost 2 hours.  When the doctor arrived, he sent me upstairs to the 7th floor.  The next morning, a heart surgeon operated on me and installed a device--I think a stint--but am foggy on the details.  I spent Thursday and Friday nights on the Intensive Care floor, had an MRI and other tests and came home with the stint, and meds for heart disease.  I am typing this with one hand, but wanted you to know I'll be out of touch until  I can use my other arm.

Sue

maryz

Good heavens, Sue!  I'm so glad you have such good, aware friends and Tim that take care of you.  And so glad you're back home safely.  Now do what you're told.  We all send our love and support and hope all continues to go well.    :smitten: :smitten:

Sue I will be praying for you.

Sorry I have been AWOL for a couple of days, i did come to catch up and red what all y'all have been doing but didn't have anything to say.
We did our Walmart run after I took freckles on a visit to the care home close by, There are two that are across the street from each other. Yesterday I made two loaves of bread that didn't turn out right, The last one I put back in the oven before I went to ,music practice and forgot about taking it back out before I left. When  I got home an hour and a half later it was burned to a crisp.

Sue..take care of your self..hope you feel better soon...Darlene

SharonE

Sue, for goodness sake!  I'm so sorry to hear about this, but as Mary said, thank the Lord for good friends and your son who were able to get you care.  Sending lots of love, cyber hugs and prayers for a quick recovery!

Marilyn, how disappointing to burn up your bread. I did that one time with Christmas 7/layer bars. I was so upset.

I just got back from Frances'.  She didn't have health care today, so I fixed a sandwich for her dinner along with some fruit. She usually eats a heavy lunch and light dinner.  I also trimmed all her birthday flowers and changed the water in the vases so that they will last longer.  Another friend had been there to visit earlier, so I didn't stay long.

My new meds are making me really sleepy, so I haven't done much of anything.  I do have a flank steak marinating for dinner though.  Sharon

jane

Sue....thank heavens for your alert friends and your Tim.  Come in as you can, even if just a short message of "I'm ok and listening to my doctors."

We had a wonderful weekend...5 of 6 arrived Friday night and Alex, who had to work at the vet diagnostic clinic came down on Saturday morning.  They cleaned our gutters, cleaned out the area where we store garden stuff that was full pf leaves, etc.  trimmed back a barberry bush, replaced a ceiling kitchen light.  Great nephew cooked breakfast both days and they then relaxed Sat afternoon, went down to the river and white water area, stopped in our brewery and walked on back to the house.  They left this morning, and so the washer is going with sheets and towels, etc.

Jane

SharonE

Jane, how wonderful to have the guys come down and do all those spring cleanup jobs!!

We've been to Ss & church; I've put in 2 loads of laundry, and I have turkey thighs & dressing in the crockpot. John's at a church finance meeting and I'm vegging now.  Nothing else planned.

Hi to all. Sharon

SCFSue

Hi, buddies.  Tim came by this morning about 8:00 with some Krispi Kreme doughnuts and we both had one with a cup of coffee.  He was on the way to see Dave and some more Ohio relatives who are visiting this weekend.

I managed to take my first shower alone last night before going to bed.  Also followed the instructions he'd taped to my bathroom mirror.  It was complicated, but I managed.

I'm pooped  so will sign off now, I'll try to report in tomorrow.

Sue

jane

Fantastic to hear from you, Sue, and how you are improving!

Beautiful day here.  We went to the nursery up the street from us and got geraniums for our colorful Mexican pots and for the two hanging baskets on the front porch.

Having left over ham today...and probably for some days to come.  I'll freeze some, too.

maryz

Great you're able to get on the computer a little bit, Sue.  Keep behaving yourself.

jane, what a great family you have.  I know you just enjoy the visiting, too.

Sharon, I hope you're getting accustomed to the new medication dosage and that it's working for you.

Marilyn, you're busy as usual.  How did Keith do with his doctor appointments?

Sue picked me up about 2:30 this afternoon, and we're now at Margaret's.  We'll head on to Hendersonville tomorrow, and I'll be checking in again.

Hope everybody's going to have a good week.

I'm still not dressed and it's almost noon.  Tim came by early to be sure I took my meds last night and to remind me not to lift my left arm.  Then Bonney came by after taking the church offering from Sunday to the bank.  She stopped at the library and picked up a book I'd wanted to read for my book club.  I will not be able to attend book club today, but I will read the book.  It's nice and sunny and I may sit out on my deck later this afternoon.

Have a nice trip, Mary.  I know you'll have fun.

Love to all,
Sue

Jane. Sounds like a fun weekend. Got lots of work taken care of.  I miss having my eldest grandson and his college friend come and do that.  Was well worth feeding them. Then my granddaughter come to U of Ill for 4 years and she and her friend would come bye but girls don't do jobs. Just eat.

Sue. You try to take it easy for awhile.  Did seem like you were doing a little to much going around. I have now gotten that I can relax more. Not be on the go.  Sitting out on you porch with a good book is perfect.
Get well soon
JeanneP

Marilyn

Mary Thank you for asking about Keith's appointments, His Urologist appt is  6th of June The Eye Institute up north is July 19th.
I have been very busy this mornin gn and it is such a beautiful day that I have already taken Freckles for 2 walks.

SharonE

Hi Gals, Sue, I agree with Jeanne that reading a book on your deck is the perfect pastime for you right now. I'm glad you feeling well enough to let us know what's going on.

None of our kids are close enough to come do things for us + they know we just hire things done most of the time.

Marilyn, it's a beautiful day here today too. I may go out on the patio and read some too.

Mary, glad all is going well for you on your trip.

I stripped the bed and washed the sheets this AM, then took some special recycles to the Lake House. While I was there, I returned several books, John & I had borrowed & picked up a couple more. However I got 3 at the library last Thursday, so will read those first. The ones at the Lake House are honor system and no due dates.  I also talked to the front desk about a glitch in my community email and got that all straightened out.   Oh yes, I also wrote and sent the weekly church article to the newspapers.  This evening is book club.

Jane, I bet your pots are beautiful with all your pretty geraniums.

All for now.  Sharon

Lightning and thunder overnight, but just overcast now.  I'm ina doc waiting room at the Clinic while Ray is getting his arm checked.  It's much better than it was 1-2 weeks ago.

Then we're off to Sam's for a couple things and Olive Garden for lunch before heading home.

Jane

SharonE

Hi Gals, another pretty, sunny day here.  I just got back from getting my hair cut. It was getting pretty shaggy. Nothing else going on here.

Jane, so glad Ray's arm is better.  Enjoy your dinner out. Hope the storms don't hit you.

Hi to everyone.  Sharon

SCFSue

Hi Buddies.  I'm feeling better today, although weak and a bit tired.  My cleaning ladies came this morning, changed my sheets and cleaned, mopped hardwood floors, dusted, etc. and were out of here in an hour.  I've been reading most of the day--a bit ago I went outside and sat in one of my new deck chairs and enjoyed the sunshine.

Tomorrow morning Tim will pick me up about 9:15 for a follow up appointment with the surgeon's partner at an office not far from my house.  My incision is still red, but not angry looking, so that's a good thing.

I hope you've had a good day.
Sue

Marilyn

Hello ladies, not much going on here. I was real busy this morning, I went to the gym this afternoon because of the busy morning.
I had my yearly blood draw first thing, then came hom e fixed breakfast and had muy COFFEE. Then I got busy and put the ingredients for a lof of bread in the machine, Baked a cake , took Freckles for a walk, cam home frosted the cake, took the dough out of the bread machine and prepared it for the oven. I don';t cook my bread in the machine because I don't like the hole in the bottom of the loaf when the paddle was. After I cleaned up my mess in the kitchen I sat down at the computer to do a couple of things and read email. Is anyo9ne tired yet?  :2funny:

maryz

Sharon, which pod do you live in?  The sister of my friend here lives in (I think) your Sun City in a "bird pod" - street is Twiddy.  I just wondered if you might have come across her.

I'll check in more tomorrow - too much going on around here now.

Good doc appt for Ray on his infected arm and he has a referral to rheumatology for early June.

Rain all day here and he's off to swim and I'm off to bridge.

Niece brought me a pretty orange "jelly and orange sections"  feeder for Baltimore Oriels (sp?) and one found it this morning.  Tomorrow I need to get so e humingbird "juice" made and out.

Jane

SharonE

Sue, I'm glad your incision looks good. I hope you tell your dr about your fatigue & weakness.  Take care of yourself.

Mary, I live in pod G which is not far from pod J.  To my knowledge though, I don't know anyone on Twiddy Ct., but that doesn't necessarily mean I don't.  I've never heard it called the bird pod. I may have to take a drive up there.

Marilyn, you always exhaust me. No way I could keep up with you.

Jane, good news on Ray's arm.  Enjoy your bridge.

I have nothing planned for today!
Hi to all.  Sharon

JeanneP

No wonder my parrot was yelling. I am here on S and F and it is outside. Trying to get it a little sun. Sun was shining last I looked out and now just went to the door and it is pouring down.  So it got a bath also.
I have some running around and get some walking in so hope it dries up soon.

Seems like they are trying to get mothers day like they now have such as Christmas, Easter etc. Never seen such crazy add on what to do for mother.
I have 2 daughter but none close. All I hear now is What can I do for mother day.
Closest one will come to town next week and out to dinner for my birthday. Her birthday is May 13 and mine was April. So off to my favourite place.
My Texas one just sent enough FannyMay choc. to last me a year if I don't want to put weight on.  It came in a big carton in a cooler with 3 bags of dry ice . Crazy. I have a Fanny May Store down the road. Should have mentioned just ordering it there and I could pick it up.
I just send plants or flowers but I am allergic to any them and so this makes it so hard for them. Was so easy for me with my mother in UK as I could just call the local florist who we had known for 40 years and he took care for me.
JeanneP

maryz

Sharon, I made up the term "bird pod".  My friend here said the streets were all named for birds, so.....    Anyhow, her name is Peggy Burke (husband maybe Stephen?).  Peggy's older sister Beth is one of my oldest and dearest friends.  They had lived in Charlotte for a long time - really nice folks.

We got to the VRBO house near Harrodsburg, KY, this afternoon.  It is lovely, and I think will work very well for us.  Tonight, we'll just be five, but more will be coming in tomorrow and Friday.  This afternoon has included a trip to the grocery store and getting stuff stashed away.

I'll try to check in from time to time.  Hugs to all!

Tim picked me up this morning about 9:15 and we went to the surgeon's office near me.  We waited about 45-50 minutes to be called in.  His female partner did the exam, said all looked well with the incision and they'd set up another appointment for me.  Tim took the appointment slip and probably wrote it on my calendar, but I haven't looked at that yet.

I went to my Wednesday bridge group, had so so cards the first 2 rounds, but the last round with a good partner and Excellent!!!! cards, I scored a total score over 6000 points!  I made 7 no trump in that last round.  Wow, I haven't done so well in a long time (and this is probably a first!).

I'm feeling so much better since I had the surgery.  The incision is itchy and is a pain to clean every day, but at least my heart is beating strongly and my appetite is increasing.  Tomorrow one of my book club/Village friends is going to take me for a much needed haircut and I know that will cheer me up.

Sleep well, Buddies.  Mary, have a wonderful time and keep notes so you can tell us all about it!
