Ginny Ann, the "Jr. Member" refers to how many times you have posted - not how long you've been a "Buddy".  :smitten:

Sharon, I hope you're going to start to feel better today, as you recover from the procedure.

It's now a little after 8 a.m.  I've been awake since 4:45, and up since 5.  :tickedoff: I've had breakfast, read the paper, worked my daily puzzles, refilled the hummingbird feeder (only one hummer, but needed to change because of the heat fermenting the sugar water), watered the plants on the patio.  Now what?  Nap?  Knit?  There's certainly nothing on TV at this hour.  Sigh....

Sharon...I hope your pain is MUCH better this morning!

Storms here overnight...lots of lightning  and flash flood warnings.

The old joints feel like they are  crazy drummers in a wild, heavy metal band.

Going to be a slug day here, I hink.

Jane

SharonE

Hi Ginny. Hope the B12 shot gives you some energy.  Thanks for the prayers. You and all the BB's are in my daily prayers.

Mary, how frustrating to wake up so early. You certainly did get a lot done early!  I am feeling better. My feet especially are better, however my back where they implanted the battery pack is extremely sore. Hard to even lean back in a chair. I went to bed about an hour early last night with a pain pill and slept pretty well. Woke up once for the bathroom and took medicine then.

A man was to detail my car today but I called him and told him that he was welcome to put it off to a cooler day which he fully agreed to.  Heat index is supposed to be 103 today.

Jane, I'm so sorry the storms have got all your joints hurting. I fully empathize although I think yours are worse than mine.  Stay in and read and rest.

Hope you all can stay in AC and have an enjoyable day.  Sharon

jane

Sharon...I sure hope your back and the leg and foot pain you mentioned on FB are better and better today.

jane

SharonE

Thanks, Jane, they seem to be improving a lot.

Hi everyone...Looks like quite a few getting hot temps....here in Texas we are used to daily 100 plus...hope to get back to walking come Monday...if the track is open...Mary I looked in Walmart for Wisk...didn't have it...I'm sure used to carry it...Sharon glad you are getting pain relief...Ginny Good to see u post..Jane I have more slug days than I need..did Marlyin already take her hubby to eye specialist?...Hope y'all have a great weekend...stay cool and safe..Darlene

JeanneP

Sharon.  I not sure what they did to you but was fast. I hope it works out well. Sounds like you improved already. Having any Medical problem in this kind of weather makes one feel worse.
I have spent a hour trying to find a drug store that had a heavier Surgical Face Mask than the one in the Dr. Office.
I have never noticed it before but it seems like dust is everywhere. I wake up with like I have a mouthful.  Had the carpet people out to do the rugs . I have ceiling fans in every room and got up to clean them I know I have way to many knick Knack around that need a good dusting but not in the mood for that. Just wish I could get rid of the Heavy Drapes but can't as I have such big window.  But anyway. No mask  to be had other than the small ones like the Dr. Office.  Got some good one everywhere but on if order on Line.  I swear that now all the stores are showing Not kept on shelves on most everything.  Walmarts have NOT IN STORES. on most things.. I wonder sometimes how people who don't use computers manage. So Sad.

Mary. I have found myself getting up really early a few days in this hot weather and also waking at about 4am.  It is unbelievable how little there is on TV. I do the same Eat breakfast. Read paper Mess around and find that is only about 6:30am Feels like I have been up for hours. Usually try to go back to bed. Be glad when can get back to normal.  Always was bed by 11:pm and up about 8am. No problem Never did take naps.  Happened so fast and so I can't think it is from Getting Old.(Have on Dr. that I don't like would just tell me it was if I asked him). He gives that answer for everything.
Think I am going to go out to the grocery store and to Farm and Fleet about 6pm . We did have some rain this morning but just made the Humidity worse.
JeanneP

maryz

Jeanne, I wasn't up at that hour voluntarily.  I just couldn't get back to sleep.  :'(  In this area, late afternoon 5-7 pm is usually the hottest part of the day.  When they gave the temp on our 6 pm news, it was 95. If I have to get out, I try to do it before 9 a.m., or before noon at the latest.

Hooray, Sharon!

No nap for me, but I have gotten a lot of knitting done.  I finally watched a few programs on BookTV this afternoon, but that's about all I found.  I'll watch something recorded or on Netflix tonight.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Sharon...hope the pain is better today.

Mary...I'm trying to get some purple baby hats knitted for the hospital for Shaken Baby Syndrome month in November.

Darlene...Stay safe in those temps!

Jeanne...Stay cool and safe.

Sue...you, too..cool and safe.

Marilyn...home yet from the Eye Institute?

A bright, sunny and very humid day out there today.  I was going to walk, but the humidity is terrible. It's very "close" as my Mom used to say, meaning you can't breathe easily there.  So, I'm inside with the AC on and have a load of laundry going.  This afternoon it's to get cloudy and temp drop, so we'll see.

SharonE

John let me sleep till 9:30 this morninng as he didn't think I was up to going to church. I think he was probably right and I did need the sleep.  A neighbor came over about 11:00 with a dessert and visited for a while.  Nice. I hadn't even dressed when she came! However, I am now, and have put a load in the washer and finished the paper. I need to go fix some lunch now as it is 1:30, but I just wasn't hungry at noon with such a late breakfast.  I feel much better today. Without my tramadol, my feet still hurt, but with it not at all.  My implants are beginning to heal and not quite so ouchy.  I can't take any showers. Have to sponge bathe until Friday when they remove the staples. They will also work with the programming then too.  It needs adjusting.

Very hot here still. I'm just not going out at all.

I think Marilyn is back from Vancouver but that they will have to go back in Sept. They think something is wrong with his optical nerve. I can't remember details, but she posted that on FB.

I think we are all in the same boat weather wise. Stay in the AC.

Mary, hope you slept well last night.

Jane, the purple hats sound cute for those poor infants.

Darlene & Jeanne, hang in there in the AC.  Sharon

Marilyn

I thought In posted here yesterday but I guess I didn't.  Keith's Peripheral vision is very limited and jagged  from what I could see on the computer screen. It should have been is a large circle. , The Dr. also told him he could not drive because he would be a danger to himself and to others if he got behind the wheel of a car. He has to see the Neuro-opthalmologist in Sept. to check the optical nerves. There is also a cyst of spinal fluid in his brain we arte not sure yet if it is close to the optical nerves.

maryz

Good to hear from you, Marilyn.  It sounds like you're dealing with some conscientious docs who are looking for appropriate diagnoses and treatments.  And telling him not to drive.

Sharon, it sounds like you're improving - albeit slowly.  I did sleep well the last couple of nights - it was nice.

I've been knitting all day.  I finished the sweater I was finishing for a friend.  It was marked "easy", but I would definitely disagree with that description.  Anyhow, it's done now, and I'll  try to get it to her this week.

Hope everybody has an easy week coming up.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Marilyn...it sounds as if K has some medical issues ahead of him.  It's good he got to a reputable eye dept.

It's cooled down here and the humidity has dropped, so it's quite nice outside now, but the walk will have to wait.  We had friends up for wine and cheese and they've just left.  I'm not very hungry now, so supper for me will wait. Ray's cooking himself some risotto and fish.

jane

JeanneP

Jane.  Maybe you will feel like eating a little once John gets that Risoto and Fish done. Nice to have a man who cooks.
Weather has made it that I am eating less. Don't loosing a pound in weight though. Drinking to much liquid.
I got up and finely heady out to the Grocery store this morning at 9am. thinking would be nobody in. Place was full.  Also found some good Surgical face masks at the Pharmacist. Expensive but much better than what I was picking up at the Clinic.  See if it helps to wear as I sleep. Dust is awful.

Hi Buddies.  I did the usual, SS, Church, and home to lunch.  I had rice with green, red, and yellow sautéed peppers, cottage cheese with blue berries, and fresh cantelope.  Very yummy and satisfying.  For supper I made a BLT and an ear of Corn (cooked in my microwave about 2 minutes).  Then a small dish of Denali Extreme Moosetracks ice cream made by Kroger.  Very yummy chocolate with deep chocolate slices inserted.  I do love to eat!

After I cleaned the kitchen from lunch, I got on my bed with a book and hoped to finish it, but sister Anne called for our usual hour + phone call.  Mostly her talking and me listening, but it was pleasant and good to catch up.

I'm missing "Little Big Shots" tonight because of some stupid auto race on NBC.  I am looking forward to another evening with Grantchester on PBS, right now my PBS station has a special on the Natchez Trace Parkway.  Bob and I enjoyed a trip there before he had cancer--it's a lovely drive.  We also stopped in Natchez for several days for their Pilgrimage where old homes were opened for visitors.  Pretty interesting vacation.

Marilyn, thoughts and prayers from here for Keith's medical issues and support for you.

Love and hugs,
Sue

jane

It's a nice cool morning here and I hope to get a walk in shortly.  Not much going on here today, otherwise.

Have a good Monday, Buddies.

SharonE

Marilyn, I'm so sorry Keith's eye problems are so severe but glad the Dr. told him not to drive.  It's too bad that you will have that long drive again in Sept.  Hugs.

Jane, so glad to hear that it's cooled down for you.  We've in the low 90's, somewhat of a cooldown, but not enough to count.

Sue, watch your protein intake. Not much in your diet yesterday.  Moosetracks sounds great. I've eaten it a few times. The TV schedules are all messed up.  I read last evening and finished "The Loop".  It was pretty good, but not great.

Mary, great that you finished your friend's sweater.  You're a good friend to do that!

Jeanne, have you changed your Hvac filters?  I read that you should buy the Merse 8 rating and change every 3 months.  If you are doing that, what about having the duct work cleaned?  Or are they doing construction near your house that is stirring up so much dust?

My cleaning girl is here and boy is she needed. It's been 4 weeks because we were gone a week. My right toe & foot is still somewhat painful and of course the back incisions are. However, they are better.  It will just take time.

Have a good day, everyone.  Sharon

Marilyn

Sherry when we go up in September we are planning on flying. I have to go our to our local airport to seer what days they fly, if Freckles flies free and what I can take for her like her food , bowls etc in a carry on bag. I thin the local  flights are only Sat. thru Tue, but have to find out for sure and the website doesn't tell me much other to book a flight.

I am so far behind in things that need doing some on the computesr and som me house work So I really need to get on the ball and get some stuff done.

Oh Keith's youngest son is getting marrie4d the day of the eclipse next month, We are going to A place about 2.5-3  hours from here for the wedding on Sunday the 20th the wedding is on Monday the 21st. I am not looking forward to that drive. There are suppiosed to been thousands of cars on the rod going to places they can view the eclips. Over a million people from all over the world are expected to be in Oregon.

SCFSue

I just wrote a post and thought I'd posted it, but it seems to be gone now.  I'll try to summarize quickly so that I can get to my bedroom and the book I plan to finish this afternoon.  I trimmed my butterfly bush this morning before it got too hot.  Brought my trash can back up to it's resting place after the trash truck came, dead headed marigolds in the front flower bed, watered the flower bed from my rain barrel, Tim came by to drop off a roll of stamps he'd picked up for me and we had a nice chat.  I'm taking him and Kris out for lunch on Thursday.  His birthday is on the 29th.

When he left I fixed and ate lunch and I'm planning a lie down with a book shortly.  My favorite way to spend a HOT afternoon!

I hope all are well and feeling better with few aches and pains.

Sue

Sue...your post is over in General Computer discussion.

Cooled down a little here today.  Only 85 deg. had the windows open for awhile but closed now.
Felt so good when I got up this morning. Cool out so open more windows.
Had to turn the A/C back on though.  Maybe will be able to get a walk in later
Was going to the library but going to wait until Wednesday. they have a notice in the Web site that they will be close tomorrow as found bug in books again and so have the people coming in to spray. That is twice now in about 6 week. Did not read it all but says something about people being stopped from bringing dogs into the library.  They use to have street people in with all their baggage but not seen to many lately.

Now I think a lot of the dust that I am getting into the house is because I have some high heavy bushes all around me and also trees. They are so dry that the bark is coming off the trees.  Filters should be OK. I was told never to use the outfit that does the filtering all through you air ducts. Specially as mine a getting old now. I just run the sweeper in mine.  Not done much with the sweeper in this hot weather.
I turned on my big counter oven.  Put a good size chicken in and now just took it out looks good. Cut up some potatoes and tossed them in the pan and they back in the oven to roast. Should be O.K now for a couple of days. A chicken will do about 4 meals for me.

Marilyne. Now I have not seen a Airline that will now let you take a pet on for free. Use to be you could put them if small enough in a carrier. I can see their point. I was on one where a person had a cat close to me. (I am allergic ). I had to be put far away from it and got the Pilot a little upset.
You will be the full time driver now. But as long as they can get his eyes so he can still use for reading etc. That will be good. All the best to him.
JeanneP

Marilyn

Jeanne Freckles is more than a pet she is my service dog. I do think that service dogs fly free.

JeanneP

Marilyn.  I didn't know you had a License to need a Service dog.  I thought she was just a small one.  Then you may get it on a plane with you.

I'm okay, but...  I always hated getting calls that started like that.
I got rear-ended on the way home from bridge tonight about 10:15.  I really am okay, and the car is drivable.  I was stopping at a light (second car) and the guy behind me didn't.  He said he sneezed.  The police were called. The insurance company was called.  All information was exchanged.  The police were satisfied that he was totally at fault, and sent me on my way.  I got home about 11, and spent time on the phone with State Farm.    There is denting to the bumper and a hole torn in the bumper.  The trunk is bent and the left blinker light doesn't work.  And I'll probably be sore and achy in the morning.  I guess I'll take it to the repair shop in the morning and see what happens next.  Maybe they can get it done while I'm gone.  (And we came in last at bridge.)
Sigh......

jane

Mary...hope you are not too sore this morning and you can get your car fixed while in Alaska.

Off to an early appt for Ray.  I hate these early appts.

Jane

maryz

Just got back from getting the estimate...
Can you spell T*O*T*A*L*E*D?
Their estimate was @$5,700, value is about $3,400.  Not a surprise for a 12 year old car.
My insurance doesn't cover a rental.  I could get one for the rest of this week @33/day, which I'd pay up front and hope to reimburse from the other guy's insurance.  The estimate guy (Aaron) tells me that State Farm will come to me to check things out and officially "total" it.  Then they take it away.  Aaron says the car is safe to drive, but would be very dangerous if I should get rear-ended again.  There is structural damage to the rear end, and the lights on the left rear don't work.
So I'll plan to stay home this week, and then, of course, we'll be gone for two weeks.  I've cleaned it out, and will ask the maintenance guy here to take the license plate off for me.

Decision time.  I don't think I want to buy another car, but I don't think I'm ready to quit driving yet.  Maybe this is the opportune time to think about leasing for a year or two.  (Fortune works in mysterious ways.)

Jane-  Speaking of early appts.-------I have one on the 31st for 8:20 in the morning
for an eye exam :( :( It was only appt. available and my dtr took it-----she has to
drive me for it.  She likes early appts. but I DO NOT, but if only one available ( and
that was only because someone cancelled) you take what you can get. ::)
Joy

JeanneP

Mary. That is good in a way that they Totaled it. One never knows after being hit hard from Behind if damage to the under frame wasn't done. Maybe you can get with one of the new car places and see if they will find you a good used trade in . I am doing that now. Looking for a 2014 either Kia, Nisson cube,or a Scoin.  I  just want a small one . Can have up to 30 thousand and one owner. Not in a big hurry as my Honda just getting old and only has 81000 on it but the Airconditioning has gone on it.
JeanneP

maryz

Jeanne, I'm thinking about the possibility of leasing.  I think that's usually for about 3 years,  and they do any maintenance, etc.  I don't know how much longer I'll be driving (even though my license is valid until 2026!), so I'm not sure I want to buy something.  I'll wait to see what the kids think.
