Jeanne, I was a 9 AAA in HS but now wear at 10.5 if I can  find it or usually an 11 M. My toes are long and my arches are flat now which has made my foot longer.  I prefer wearing sandals because they fit better than closed toe shoes, but obviously can't do that in the winter even in SC.  Good you're getting your things in order. I was very fortunate that my dad felt that way and made sure mom had all her papers in order. Then her 2nd husband was very careful to keep close track of her financials and give me a good accounting since I was the executor.    We have everything pretty much in order for Brian who will be our executor,

It is sunny and 60ish with a strong breeze here today, so I went out and worked on my flowers, moving some from the 2 pots to a third pot. The original pots were so full they would have crowded some out anyway.  They are't up to my standards but my back was killing me by the time I finished that.

The fire I mentioned yesterday burned 3 houses to the ground and made 2 more uninhabitable. Apparently, someone threw a cigarette down which ignited pine straw which started the whole thing.  Five fire units were there, one from Charlotte even. It's a mile or so from us. I feel so bad for the families. I don't know anyone on that street. No one was injured fortunately and all the pets got out.  Our company who takes care of things here put out a computerized phone call updating everyone on what was going on. I thought that was great.

No other news here.  Sharon

 Happy Birthday Mary....Darlene

Thanks for the birthday wishes.  Things were going good until 5 pm, when the TV/internet/phone went out.  Margaret came by on her way home from the basketball games, and we went out to dinner.  In the meantime, all my Comcast bundle (TV/internet/landline) went out at 5 p.m.  I've just been on the phone with them and they say they'll have to send a tech out - on SUNDAY!!!  To say I'm p...ed is a definite understatement.  I've given them several pieces of my mind, and told them I expect a credit for the time my service is out.  I am hooked up to the internet through the wifi for the Terrace, but I don't consider that secure. It's at least something.  :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

Mary, I forgot to tell you Happy Birthday today!  I had my 81st yesterday.  All 3 sons remembered--Bill's family sent flowers, Jon's sent candy, and Tim took me to my favorite restaurant for a yummy lunch.  One of my best recent birthdays, plus cards from friends, my sisters, and my brother.  I'm leaving the cards out to enjoy at least through the weekend.

Sharon, was the fire inside your development or nearby?  It sounds awful.  I've always been fearful of house fires.

Darlene, I hope you are feeling better--all well in fact!

Good night, Buddies.

A late good morning, Every Buddy.  I slept later this morning and didn't get dressed until 10:00.  I went out for a walk---wore a rain jacket because it looked as if it were going to pour rain, but it didn't and I was too warm in that jacket!  I'm planning to watch basketball games today. Auburn won yesterday over in San Diego, but by the skin of their teeth (only 3 points!).  I hope they have better luck today.  I couldn't watch yesterday's game because it was on Tru TV which I do not have.

Mary, yuck on the TV problem with Comcast.  Is there some other company you can get for your TV or is that what is offered at your Assisted Living place?  I've stuck with ATT for my computer and TV and so far no problems.

Not much going on here except basketball games and new books from yesterday's trip to the library after our Kroger run.  I've already finished one of the books, so will dig through the pile and hope one will last longer than today!

Have a nice weekend, Buddies.
Sue

Glad you had such a good birthday, Sue.

I called Comcast this morning to see about getting in on a cancellation for service, and a spot was available.  The tech showed up at 10 a.m., and had everything working in 20 minutes.  He said "the splitter" had failed for some reason, but all is okay now.  So they're higher on my list now.  In answer to Sue's question, Comcast is all that's available here right now.  We had a local fiberoptic service at the house put out by the local electric company, and it is fabulous.  There have been rumors, and I'm hoping this service will be available here sometime this year.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, Buddies - hope you're wearing something green.

Glad the birthday girls had good days except for the Comcast outage for Mary. So glad it is fixed now.

Yesterday, I did my flowers out front. Not stellar, but at least a little color.

Today, I slept in too, Sue, but I have the 2nd load of laundry in and corned beef & cabbage in the crockpot.  Wearing green too!  Not a lot of Irish in our family, but some.  I've also read my SS lesson and devotions, so other than riding my bicycle for a half hour, I don't have much else planned.

Purdue & Butler are playing today against each other. Purdue is ranked higher, but of course I will root for Butler, my alma mater.  Brian, Traecy, Jocelyne, & Henry went to Purdue, but I've never been a fan.  If they are the last left in IN, guess I will be forced to root for them, but reluctantly.

It was raining when I got up but has cleared off somewhat. Still really chilly out when I put some mail in the mailbox for pickup.  One of my sorority sisters and good friend is celebrating her 80th on the 24th.  I got an invitation to the reception at their church, but I will just be coming home from FL that day.  She lives in Laffayette, IN. (Purdue country!)

Hope everyone is having a good Irish Day!!  Sharon

Marilyn

Happy Saint Patrick's day everyone. Keith and I did our regular Walmart grocery run this morning after breakfast. We like to go early. After getting all the groceries put away I took Freckles for a walk in the mall. It his been rainy and cold here so the mall was a nice warm friendly walk. We stopped and visited with people that we know in the various shops and the vendors in the mall walkway.

I  had 3 people come to my Tai chi class on Friday that was so much better than Tuesday when no one showed up and I  had waited for a it to see if anyone would come before I left. I will be taking the instructors certification class over the 15th and 16TH OF April. It is a all day class both days of just doing and perfecting Tai Chi. I may be 78 years old but one is never too oldd to learn something and I have been doing Tai chi  for several years 4 here and 5 in California.

I hope everyone is having a grand meal for St Patrick's day, we are going to have Filet Mignon for supper instead of the traditional Corned beef, Which is always good, but too salty anymore. I don't cook with salt because Keith has Hypertension and I usally have to drink  a lot of water to get the sodium out of my system.

Cottoncandy

Marlyin ...I so wish there was a tai chi class here...I would sure go...I would like to do something other than walk.....Darlene

Mary.  My Comcast stopped working on the TV the other day. Picture would not come in or sound . Internet and WiFi was OK.
I don't usually call as get some other country most times but this time I did and she was pretty good on fixing the problem. Says the the Box was not getting connected. Month ago they had to bring a new box out. But she did put in a order also for a service to come out and check what happened. They called and Said would be a Monday (It was on a Sat night then.) All got working right and so I cancelled so that I wouldn't be getting to many call outs.

Now how many make Cornbeef and Cabbage today? I like it but suppose to be staying off such as Cabbage. Sprouts. Cauliflower for a few weeks. See if my tummy settles down.  I just eat so much of those veg. Drinking less milk also. I never used a Primary Dr. But did get one yesterday close to home. She was great. Says will get me to Gastro Dr. if it doesn't get better in a week. Gave me something for it to drink. Feels that it is certain food but also taken that cough Med. and the Advil when sick last month. Will see how it goes.

I did make Irish Stew so that counts...

Good morning, Buddies.  I've been up for almost 2 hours as I'm not yet ready for the time change--plus sleeping less as I grow older!  I've showered, dressed, and am ready for SS and church, but I have more than an hour to wait for Olyne to pick me up.  She called yesterday to tell me that a longtime friend, Dave, died yesterday, so there will be another funeral sometime this next week.  He's been in the hospital about a week and kept declining.  He and his wife are members of our SS class.

It's looking like rain here this morning, but according to the weather channel, we won't have any until possibly Monday when we might also get tornado warnings.  I'll have to dig out my weather radio and my lamp which burns lamp oil.  At least I can read by lamp light if the power goes off in the early evening.

Have a good day, Buddies.

Hi Gals, Yep, I fixed corn beef and cabbage yesterday. I only do it once a year because of the salt and ffat, but we do love it.  I've been to SS & church, had lunch, watered my flowers, filled the birdbath and have a load of laundry in.  I want to pack for FL this afternoon since my cleaning girl comes tomorrow and I leave Tues.  I also need to make reservations for our flights to St. Louis over Memorial Day for the big family get together.  I also still have PT & the bike or a walk to do.  Busy, busy.

Sue, one of our SS members lost his wife about a year ago and then last week lost his son. The latter was apparently a suicide due to deep depression he had had for years. I feel so bad for him, but he says the Grief class is helping and darned if he didn't sing in the men's choir today.  A strong man.

Jeanne, I do hope the new dr. helps you with your stomach problems. I'm glad you found someone you like.

Marilyn, I didn't know they let dogs into malls for walks.  That's nice, especially since it rains so much there.

Corned beef and cabbage here too yesterday.

Beautiful day here and warmer, so we got a nice walk in, stopping at the micro brewery for my diet pepsi and Ray’s glass of stout.

I’ve been watching basketball and loving the upsets!

I wasn't too happy with the Purdue win over Butler.

I got most everything done yesterday and the cleaning girl is here today.

My sil just called to make sure everything was on schedule for my arrival tomorrow. It's going to be great to see them all.

I still have to get my meds organized and a couple other things, so better get to it. Back on Friday night.
Sharon

I hope you have a wonderful trip, Sharon.

Lovely thundershowers here this morning.  As long as they're not severe, I like a good thunderstorm - it cleans the air.  We are supposed to get some severe weather tonight, though.  I was going to go out to bridge tonight, but if it's raining hard, I won't go.

Happy Monday, Buddies!

p.s. Condolences to all of us whose teams (men and women's) lost yesterday.  Although my granddaughter's fiancé is happy - he's a Clemson grad (sorry, Sue).

No corned beef and cabbage here.  I'm afraid I do very little real cooking anymore.  I try to make at least one or 2 meals that I stir fry with rice or a pot of soup, but I eat a lot of salads and Healthy Choice freezer meals.  I need to get back to cooking more as I'm putting on unwanted weight with snacking.

It's been raining here, but is mostly foggy now.  I haven't been out to walk yet as Tim usually comes by on Monday morning, but might not because of Kris's dog, Muffin.  She's not doing well--is 13 years old and has lots of ailments.  He took Muff to the vet on Saturday, but I haven't talked to either him or Kris since.

A close friend from church died on Friday--and the funeral is on Tuesday.  Olyne is going with another friend and her husband and won't be picking me up.  Dave, the person who died is a member of my SS class and we dated briefly a few years ago, but he wanted to get serious and I had to end it.  Soon afterward he started dating another woman from our church and they've been married about five years.  He was an Army pilot, decorated for bombing missions in Vietnam and other places.  He, like me, was born in West Virginia, so we had a special friendship.  He's been in poor health for several years.

Sharon, have a nice trip.

Jane, I've been watching basketball, too, but wasn't happy about Auburn's loss!  Now that they are out, I'll probably only watch a few favorites.  Soon we'll get to see the women's tournament.

Hi to Every Buddy looking in.  Have a nice day!
Sue

Mary, you were posting while I was still writing.  I'm not upset about Clemson's win--Bill got his PhD there!  (But of course I don't like Clemson during Big Thursday games with South Carolina!)

Marilyn:  Please share w/me How to change color in printing.  Yours looks so nice!
Joy ???

Marilyn

Joy first you highlight your text then you go to change color  and the drop down menu has the colors you can choose from. Next you go to thye B icon and click tha to make it bold. The color shows up better in bold print. I always make my print larger by clicking on font size and choosing 14.

Cottoncandy

How do you highlight a post...Marlyin...? Darlene

Cottoncandy

I know basically how to highlight a comment..but couldn't get it to work...I like the color to..Darlene

jane

Sunny day here, but it was windy which really bothers my ears and allergies.

I ran some errands to our insurance company, bank, and WalMart.

Darlene...to highlight, put your cursor in front of what you want in color and draw it over the words you want in color.  Then, as Marilyn explained, click on change color and choose the color you want.  The light colors are hard for some people to read.  Also, putting in a size can be a problem for some of us who have our own devices set to the size font we can read easily.

I have a hair appt tomorrow and then we’ll be off to CR for some shopping.

I think that I may change my colour also. Getting a little tired of black and white.
So windy here today. Its 50 deg but doesn't feel like it. I should have done some running around today. Said not going to take the hour nap that I have gotten into a habit of doing last  2 months.  Didn't work though. Thing is I did almost 2hours. feels so good. Think I can do it when nice weather comes.
I may be wrong but I didn't think there was a way to change colour on our IPads.  If possible I am sure Jane will know how

We got back home from the Model T tour this afternoon . One day we went to a ghost town of Nelson , Nevada .  http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/nv/nelson.html     There was a tour of a mine but I didn't go because of "my machine" as I call it . learned later the path in the mine was rocky & dusty , so it was best I didn't go in .  Most all of the driving was on roads difficult for a Model T to drive safely , modern cars went whizzing by & wasn't  what us Model T'ers are use to . I could say many things that bothered us but I won't bore you . Just happy to be back home !

SCFSue

It's 1:00 here, Buddies.  Olyne picked me up about 9:15 to go to the church a bit early for the 10:00 funeral.  She was helping with refreshments to be served after the service.  There will be another service in Phenix City, Alabama, at the Military National Cemetery where Dave will be buried.  He was a highly decorated Marine pilot, served in both the Korean War and Vietnam.  I'm not going over to Phenix City with the family and other members who were his friends.  It makes for a long day.  I think he'll probably be buried near Kris's Dad, Dave, who we buried last summer unless many more veterans have been buried since then.

There was an honor guard of retired marines in their bright red dress blazers who sat in the front of the church and they will probably also go to the Military National Cemetery as honor guard.  All were elderly gentlemen about Dave's age.  Dave had one of those red jackets, too.  The coffin was closed, but I imagine he was buried in his uniform.

Not much else going on here today.  I've changed into comfy clothing and walked in my neighborhood and plan on a quiet afternoon.  I hope you all have a nice day.

Darlene...The easier way may be to just put the code in.  The code shows only in the box when you're posting,  not when you click Post and the post shows to the rest of us.  Just don't put any spaces in the coding below.  [I did so you can see the coding]

[ color=green] Put here what you want to be green. When you're at the end of what you want to be green (Or whatever color you put after the =) put the end tag  [ /color]

After you click post, it will show as:

Put here what you want to be green. When you're at the end of what you want to be green (Or whatever color you put after the =) put the end tag

IF you want it to be bold, as Marilyn suggested, do this:

[ b][ color=green] Put here what you want to be green. When you're at the end of what you want to be green (Or whatever color you put after the =) put the end tag  [ /color][/ b]

It's vital to do the codes in reverse order at the end.

You'll then have

Put here what you want to be green. When you're at the end of what you want to be green (Or whatever color you put after the =) put the end tag

jane

We went to CR after my haircut and had a nice day.  I was hoping to find shoe polish for a pair of shoes I have that are kind of a "saddle" color.  Finding shoe polish is turning into a marathon thing.  The shoe repair guy who used to be at the mall is long gone.  I tried the shoe store in town...they have black and dark brown.  I guess I'll try online.

Cold here and they're saying maybe some snow.  UGH.
