Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

2024-05-01, 23:57:58
Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

JeanneP: I am trying to get into the Archives of the Recipes that where moved over from Senior net few years ago, Can't find them

Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Oldiesmann: The chat can be accessed from the menu but I don't kow how often anyone is in there

Hi GAls. We got home about 8:30 last evening.  It was an exhausting time with 3 little ones going at full-tilt and all the people there.  Liam, the youngest wasn't very happy with all the commotion and was very clingy to his parents and cried a lot. He is only one.  Harrison, however, was in the thick of things.  Leyton, at 6.5 loved the ping pong games and drafted everyone to play with him, including me.  We had a roast of Brian on Wed night due to his recent 50th birthday. He took it well.  Melanie had even made up pins with his baby picture on it. Our flights were good too.  It was so good to see everyone. Our grandson who is finishing his MA at NYU was there with his new wife, so that was fun too. It was just so good to see everyone, most of whom I hadn't seen for a year.  Everyone pitched in on the cooking, including me. I made 3 pies and supervised! LOL  Along with Mary.

Marilyn, I feel so for you. You really have your hands full. According to your FB post though, it looks like you have a lot of it worked out.  When is your eye surgery?  John's is Tue.  I'm glad not to be having surgery this year after so much last year.  I do hope you have a good Christmas visit at Gilbert's.

Jane, I'm so glad Ray is improving so quickly. I hope the snow holds off so you can leave on time, but if not, a delay isn't the end of the world.  Just be careful.

To the British among us, I guess it's all what you grow up with. Yours sounds a lot like ours though minus the Black Friday shopping.  I never participate in any of that.

Mary, I'm glad Kate is finding things. It's a shame about the safe box key.  John's sister couldnd't find hers when she had to move to Iowa and sell her house, etc.  They had to drill her box too.  Have a great dinner today with your family.

Joy, you outdid us on #'s at the TG table.  We had 18. The fiancee of one of our grandsons was supposed to come too, but couldn't because she is a nurse and had to work 3rd shift & sleep.

Sue, I hope you are having a great beach vacation and that the weaather is good.  It was COLD in IN, at least for me. I wore my heaviest sweaters and sometimes a jacket over those.

Bunny is home and happy to be here.  I think we are going to start on Christmas decorating soon.

Have a nice weekend!  Sharon

Sharon and All Friends...
...Oh we are also having our " Black Friday " sales, seems like its been going all week here in UK by the amount of sale emails I have been receiving since last weekend...I have taken advantage of one or two but nothing being a major money outlay...Guess soon it will be our January sales, only nowadays they tend to start before Christmas, not after...

Marilyn

I have hired a caregiver to work for both of us. She will work 8 hrs a day 3 days a week, over the Christmas holiday she will be here with Keith tho whole time I am in California. She also  does cleaning and meal prep. She has worked in the Memory care facilities both here and in Bandon. She knew who I was as soon as I said Freckles was my dog who visited the facility to see my hospice patient. Her experience and background is just what I need for K<eith. She is on the Senior care registry who does extensive background checks every 6 months. She charges $14 per hour but with her experience she is well worth every dollar. I will not have to do any housework and will only be taking care of Keith after 4 pm 2 days a week and   then I will care for him all weekend. He has to have daily in fusions so he can't go with me.

Joy...go up to your name in the upper left and click the down arrow by it.  Select My profile or account settings and then look and layout and select your time zone...mine is central USA.  Then click change profile clear at the bottom of the page on the right.

Sharon...it sounds like a good trip; neat pics on FB.

Marilyn...you've gotten a real deal!  $14.00 an hour sounds very reasonable for all this woman will do.

Jane

maryz

Marilyn, so glad you've gotten the caregiver to help you both.  She should be a great relief to your life.

Sharon, glad you're home safely and has such a good week.

I'm back home.  We had 16 total for our dinner today. No young children this year, but SO much good food and fellowship!

Cold and windy Sunday here.  The snow is going south of us, but right on our route south, so I think we'll delay leaving until Tues.  We sure don't want to risk driving into blizzard conditions.

Jane

SharonE

Marilyn, so glad you have someone to help now and through the holidays.  One can only do so much by themselves. Great too that she is thoroughly vetted and experienced.

Jane, wise choice to delay.

Mary, glad you're home safely too.

John is sick with a sore throat, etc. Worried whether it will impact his plans for cataract surgery on Tues. He has a call in to the office but of course they aren't open on Sunday.

I'm hurting big time from all the decorating, etc I did yesterday + laundry of course. Still have aother load to do and have to go to the grocery. The cupboard is bare!  We both skipped church today due to our ailments. I hated that

Does Sue get home today?  I don't remember. Hope she had a good time.

No shopping for me except for one online gift which I will look for Monday. Others are taken care of with Christmas wreaths or centerpieces & checks for the ggrands and one grandson. We don't gift much after age 21.

Marilyn.  What a gift, Finding someone to help you. Sounds fantastic and at $14 a hour, unbelievable. I still have not found a cleaner but will not put off until spring. You try and get more rest now.

...I will second that, your posts can be seen, please do not leave, we have already lost members and want them to come back to us...

I want to thank you for allowing me to post in this room as I am aware this room is for breast cancer sufferers and survivors of which I am none but...I did lose my mother to breast cancer - liver damage going on 42 years ago, I lost mother when I was 26...Sadly when myself and father were told, we were told mother had only a week, she was gone in three days...

Jane: I hate to say it but what is my time zone? I am in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Joy

Joy, you're in the Central Time Zone. And please stay with us!

vanilla-jackie, we're always delighted to have folks join us.  This is definitely not an exclusive group.  And actually we hate it when people "need" to join us.  ;)

Highs here expected to be only around 45 and overcast.  Not our most pleasant weather.  I've been out for PT and to pick up an Rx, but then will be in for the rest of the day.  My Rx was for calming when I have an MRI Wednesday.  Not my favorite thing, but needed for diagnosis on whan in my neck (probably) is causing the intermittent numbness in my right hand.  The arthritis in all parts is pretty severe, but...

Our Thanksgiving weekend was great.  Kate got to spend Wednesday/Sunday with Margaret, and it was great for her to be able to get away from all the stuff she's having to deal with.  We didn't have as big a group as usual, but the food was wonderful and the fellowship and love are always the best.  My two best friends from when we lived in the Nashville area were able to come and I love being able to spend time with them.

Sharon, I hope John is able to get his eye surgery done, and that you got caught up on your rest.

Sue, are you home yet?  I know you'll need to rest up, too.

jane, that blizzard looked awful on the news. Hope all goes well with your trip south.

Hugs to Marilyn, Darlene, and whoever else I might have missed.

Mary Z:I thought that I was in Central time Zone, but I wasn't sure.

SharonE

John is still feeling lousy, but the surgery center said that if he wasn't running a fever, it could go ahead. He's to be there at 6 AM tomorrow!  I slept till almost 10 this AM, but I didn't get to bed till midnight. Still, I feel better. We're going to decorate the tree this afternoon.  Dreary, chilly, damp here. Yuck!  Better than a blizzard though.

Jane, hope it clears for you to leave tomorrow.

Mary, it sounds like you had a good TG gathering. I'm glad Kate got a break and away from home.  Getting together with friends too is a wonderful plus.  Our gathering was really good--noisy, chaotic, fun and way too much food! The little ones really livened things up.  Poor Joc, I don't think she enjoyed it much because Liam was so clingy and out of sorts. It was too big a gathering for him.  Harrison had lots of fun with his big cousin, Leyton.

Joy, glad you're able to post.

Jeanne, I agree with you that Marilyn was lucky to find someone for $14 an hour, especially with such good recs.  Why don't you call one of the cleaning agencies like Molly Maids or a local one. They are insured & bonded.

All for now.  Sharon

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I have had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen.  Now I need to think about what I'll need to put on to go to bridge at Azalea Place at 11:00 (it's a retirement community where I play bridge once a month and have lunch there before we play.  My friend and neighbor who also plays there will pick me up and bring me home).

It was pretty chilly down at the beach.  Jon brought Nic up from LSU and Stacie's parents who live in Arkansas, drove over to Birmingham and picked up Alex.  Stacie's step-father is beginning to suffer from a bit of dementia and was left with me most days while she and her mother went to the pool, out to a movie, shopping, etc.  I heard a lot about his military service in Korea during the War there.  Alex and Nic walked on the beach with me and that was nice, although it was pretty cool out there.  We had lots of food with 3 cooks (Stacie, Shirlane, and me) and everyone ate way too much!  I was glad to get home to some peace and quiet.  Shirlane and Bob brought me home and took Alex back to Birmingham on Sunday.  They were going straight home to Arkansas when they dropped him off.

It's pretty chilly here this morning.  I saw frost on the lawn when I got out of bed.  I guess winter is trying to get here!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

Sue, glad you're home and getting back into the routine.  Sounds like a good time was had by all at the beach.

It was cold here this morning, too,  29* until about 9, and only 36* now.  Brrrrr!

Good morning, Gals.  John had his cataract surgery this morning. Had to be there by 6 AM!! But home about 8:00. The Dr said everything went well and he's napping now.  He will have a recheck tomorrow.  His 2nd one will be in Dec, the 11th, I think. That's the one that is critical because that is his good eye.

I plan to write and print my Christmas letter today, God willing.

Sue and Darlene, sounds like you had nice family TG's too. I'm sure you're both glad to get home to rest. I sure was.

We decorated the tree yesterday, so we are finished with the decorations. Those of you who are on FB can see pics of them.

Our landscaper finally came and got the 2 bushes in that we were lacking. Now I can call the HOA and tell them they can inspect again.

It's cold here too and supposed to get colder. Snow in the NC mountain areas. Hope it stays there and doesn't make it here.

Hi to all I haven't mentioned.  Sharon

Darlene, I'm sure jane could explain this better, but she's on the road.  Maybe Bubble will chime in. But here's my version...

1.  Type your message.  Then highlight the whole message, and click the font size and color.  That should do it.

2.  (My method)  Click on the size font you want (I use #4); then click on the color.  Type your message in the middle of the brackets, without spaces after and before the interior brackets.  The brackets will not show up when you post your message.
