Oldiesmann: Relevant links can be found in topics in the Homemaking, Food & Garden board. I'll see about moving them over to articles here when I get a chance.

Oldiesmann: Found them. They're on the CP site: https://www.christianphotographers.com/recipes/recipeindex.html

Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

The stitches come out tomorrow where the skin cancer spot was removed ! Maybe too soon though .

jane

Alpiner...good luck on the stitches.

Latest forecast here says two storms headed our way over this week.  Time to remember our winter driving tips, I guess. Stay informed and safe.

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Jane and Alpiner.  I've just cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast dishes and am still not dressed yet.  My house is chilly this morning and I had a bill from the gas company with an outrageous fee for last month's service--and it wasn't even cold then!

Last night I started reading a W.E.B. Griffin WWII novel.  It's hard to put down and I stayed up late to continue reading it, but couldn't keep my eyes open and still have it to read today.

Alpiner, I hope the stitch removal goes well.  Keep us posted.  Thoughts and prayers coming your way.

Jane, I hope the storms coming your way are manageable.  I can remember those dreary days in Maine when the snow was about 4 feet high every morning after another snow fall during the night.  Not much fun when our boys were not large enough to shovel all of the driveway!

I need to clean up mail that I've neglected to answer and need to work on that this morning.  I caught up with my laundry yesterday, so I don't have to do any more for a day or two.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

I am just back from getting a lab done prior to the stimulator removal Dec. 6.  Once that is done, I will go into the ortho to get my MRI & xray and probably another lab. I also have a dematology appt tomorrow that I had to have changed from January. Not a convenient time, but otherwise I'd have to wait till March. My surgery for my knee is Jan. 7, so probably some other thtings prior to that. Oh to be young again!

Mary, I'm glad they got your things moved into storate and hope they get the pictures, etc down today.

Jane, enjoy the laundry drill :D! I will probably do some today too. I need to tidy up and maybe do some cleaning today before Brian & family arrive tomorrow.  At least they will be staying in a hotel, so don't need to mess  with the guest room, altho it is usually in good shape. I also have to get my church events typed up today. I had to call the paper yesterday and the past 2 months had gone to junk mail! She apologized and said she would check in the future.

It's supposed to reach 60 and sunny today, but rain tomorrow, then nice for TG.  Are you going to Kathy's for TG. I don't remember you saying.

Alpiner, I hope the stitches come out well and that it's not too early.

Marilyn, good luck with getting yours out tomorrow. I sure hope it helps decrease the pain. What are you doing for TG?

Jeanne, I hate to think of you alone for TG, but if the weather is bad, maybe you will prefer it.  I hate the computer answered phones too!

If I don't get back in tomorrow:

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL THE BUDDIES! Sharon

The stitches were removed this morning . The doctor said my body was telling me the stitches were ready to be removed !  He always froze several precancerous areas . I had never had this done before , was surprised it felt like a burn for a few minutes . I have an appt. for a 3 month check up .

SharonE

My dermatology appt is tomorrow. Just routine as far as I know, but I am very fair and even though I've not been a sun lover and used, sunscreen, one never knows. When we were all kids, there weren't any sunscreens.  I'm glad you got yours taken care of. John goes every 3 mos and I go once a year.        Sharon

We're supposed to just get rain...lots of snow a bit west and north of us.  However, tomorrow to have very high winds so it'll be a nasty drive for those heading west or north to Mpls, etc.  Glad I'm not.  I"m going to meet Tx friend, Joan, in Dbq for T'giving.  Her husband died 6 weeks before Ray and the 4 of us met once a month or so in Dbq for lunch.  She's the friend with severe heart problems who's moving to Mpls to be near her daughter.

Thursday is supposed to be nice here, then another storm coming in for the weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving, Every Buddie!!

SharonE

Enjoy your time with your friend, Jane. I'm glad you won't have to drive too far and I'm especially glad you won't be alone and can share memories of past Thanksgivings. I know holidays are hard after a loss.  HUGS!

Good Wednesday morning Buddies...know everyone is busy either going or staying home and cooking...We are having our Thanksgiving at my sons ...who lives close....so all I have to do is bring 2..pies...chess and pecan...here's wishing all my buddies and anyone reading...A Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving...Darlene

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  It's damp and dreary here this morning.  I think we'll have more rain later this afternoon.  Bill called yesterday afternoon to tell me to be on the lookout for flower delivery today, so I'll be staying inside waiting before walking today.

Tomorrow Kris and her mom, Arden, will come over to take me to Tim and Kris's home for Thanksgiving dinner.  Tim is doing all the cooking and I am looking forward to it.  He's a great cook and I know it will be yummy!

I spent some time yesterday viewing the cemetery where my Lee, Howes, Reynolds, and Peck relatives are buried.  The cemetery is filled now, no more new admissions due to space.  I will send the cemetery a donation to help with the mowing and other chores which help with the cemetery upkeep.  This is the oldest cemetery in my home town.

I may not get out to walk as I think the rain will be here before the flowers!  I hope every Buddy is ready for Thanksgiving and that you all have a lovely holiday.

Sue

It's VERY windy here...30 mph with gusts to 60 mph...all kinds of warnings out about possibility of falling limbs, wires, high profile vehicle overturns, etc.  So...I'm staying put here in my fam room with my fireplace on and watching it blow!  I put away my fall decorations and dug out a few winter ones...some snowmen and wreaths, etc.
Ray always loved having the house decorated inside for the holidays/seasons, and so do I so I've got some things out. I'm not doing any outside decorations  and I'm not putting up a larger tree...have a tiny one we used in Texas, and that'll be it.

I called my Sister this morning who was busy making pies for tomorrow.  Her daughter and her two daughters as well as her husband's niece and nephew and family will be with them tomorrow.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!

Good morning and a Very Happy Thanksgiving to all!  I'm still sitting here in my P.J's, but planning to shower and dress soon.  Kris and Arden are coming over to take me to Tim/Kris's home where Tim is busy doing the major cooking. It's a chilly day here, so I need to look for something warm to wear.  I hope Every Buddy will be having a yummy Thanksgiving dinner and fun with family.

Happy Thanksgiving, Buddies.

Brian and the boys and I made 3 pies and homemade French bread, in addition to the meatloaf dinner. It was a busy oven. Actually baked the last 2 pies this morning. So many dishes that John had to do. I helped a little, but was exhausted.  Traecy helped here and there, but most of it was done by the rest of us.  They left about 10 PM and should be here now. I have the turkey and sides out and am trying to figure out the directions. They are rather strange, but we should get it all together eventually.

Jane, I heard about the winds in your area. Probably a good idea to stay home.

Hi Mary. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Sue I know you'll have a great meal at Tim's and NO cooking!

Darlene, I know your pies will be appreciated. Enjoy the family.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  Sharon

Marilyn

Happy Thanksgiving every Buddy.  I am going to cook a turkey breast in my Instant Pot. No company today, not going anyplace Just the two of us here. So thankful for the past year and still having Keith with me after  almost losing him last year to sepsis.

maryz

We have our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, when friends and family from Nashville to Chattanooga will be coming to join us.  Margaret is going to a potluck dinner this afternoon with her in-laws. So it's a quiet day around here.  Tomorrow will be busier with getting ready for our get-together on Saturday.  I hope everybody has a good day, whatever your plans.

It was a good day for traveling, and Joan and I met at noon in Dbq.  Her face is still quite bruised from her fall several weeks ago on her throw rugs on a hard wood floor.  She's so lucky she didn't break any bones.

Tomorrow night I'm going to a concert here in town by a folk singer- song writer who's originally from this area.  I play bridge with her Mom and really enjoy Susan's music.

[Sounds like you all have fun plans and a nice TG. Brian and the boys & Traecy took over the kitchen and reheating purchased turkey dinner. I supervised some, but mostly just told them where things were.  After dinner and my exercises, we played Mexicaaan Train. It was a rousing, close game, but Braeden won. Lots of trash talk and teasing. Had a pie interlude halfway through. They were really good. In fact, everything was very good except none of us appreciated the dressing.

Today, as soon as the boys run (getting ready for a marathon), they are all going to help us decorate for Christmas and bring in all the boxes, etc. Again, I'll do lots of supervising and sitting.
At 3:00 we are going to take Brian and Traecy to see the Independent living place we're thinking about.  Probably pizza tonight.
;
Have a nice day after TG. The boys are due shortly.

Marilyn, I'm glad you still have Keith too and that you were able to have a nice dinner.  How are your feet doing?/size]

Mary, it sounds like you will be making merry tomorrow while we are all collapsing.  Enjoy everyone. That's what it is all about.

Happy Black Friday for those who participate. I never have or will. I hate crowds, etc.  TTYL  Sharon

jane

Good Black Friday for those who shop.

I won't be joining the masses.  Ray and I did it once at Woodfield Mall in Chicago area.  We both freaked out when the only way to get through a store was to get in line and move with the line.  Good luck trying to stop and look at anything or try to buy something.  We never went again.   :2funny:

My only shopping today is a run to WalMart for my thyroid med that I'm out of and some groceries I need for the weekend.

Have a good...and quiet, if that's what you like...Black Friday!

You all seem to have had a nice TG day. After the 67 mile wind the Wed.night . I was glad not to be driving anywhere.
Jane. I was a big collector of Folk music. Still have all my collector records. Vinyl but have the player from 1965 to play them on along with all my Lloyd Webber shows which I went to see most of them. Who is the Folk singer you went to see?
I am getting ready to head out to see if I can find a good buy on a new Printer. First will go up the street from home to Walmart who are showing the one I want. Hope the place not a mad house. Its 1pm so maybe it will not be to bad. Then will go to Best Buys and see theirs. I should have gone last night. Most of the big stores were open by 5pm. I hear there were crowds all around the Buildings.
I also never got into this Black Friday Shopping. My girls use to do it On the Thanksgiving day. Think they have quit now. They do everything on line. HSN and QVC or whatever they are called are going crazy at the moment. All of them competing with the big store. Sure glad I am neither a TG or a Christmas person.  I just went along with them when coming to US. now that all young children in Family have grown up and all over the States miles away .I did enjoy the Santa Claus times for them.
Well cant put of leaving the house. Weather not bad.  Suppose to rain soon.

Sharon thanks for asking, my feet are doing OK. I've walked freckles myself for the blast two days. I went to put up last years little fake tree and the lights wouldn't work. So off to Big Lots to get another tree and then to Goodwill to give them the other tree. I got the tree up and decorated, and a couple of the lighted village buildings out, more to go. Taking my time though because running up and down the stairs to bring down the village pieces wears me out.

Keith is driving me crazy, he follows me from room to room then stands in the doorway looking at me and is in my way yo go back out of the room. He wants kisses but will not shave or even wash his face and brush his teeth., who wants to kiss that.

SharonE

I was very lucky to have Brian and his 2 grown boys in addition to John to fetch and carry for me while I mostly sat and directed traffic.  I did put my nativity scene up as that is very special to me.  The tree isn't decorated yet. John and I wanted to do that ourselves today.  Brian and the boys did so many things for us that neither of us could do.  Have a good day.  Sharon

jane

Marilyn...sounds as if the feet are in good shape for the next surgery and now you know what to expect.  Sad about Keith and personal hygiene and following you around.  Good to get out and walk the dog.

Jeanne...cold, rain all day and very windy here...I'm going to devote my time to holding down my chair. :2funny:  and getting my meds in their box for the next couple of weeks.  There are a couple of good games coming up...Michigan vs Ohio State and Sue's Auburn against that other Alabama team.  :knuppel2:

Sue...WAR EAGLE!!

Folk singer is Susan Werner.  She writes her own songs and has had some recorded by big names.

https://www.facebook.com/susanwernerpage

She grew up here and so had a lot of local comments which the crowd loved, of course.

Nothing else going on here.

Looks like a stay home day today. It has stormed all night and still coming down.
I think it is a home game at the univ of ill today. Be so cold. Sad thing is it is also the big Christmas parade and tree lighting at 5pm today. Doubt the weather will be better for that. Poor Santa. He is getting wet a lot this year. Was same last year also. It does seem to be that years ago when my girls little we did al the things that were done outdoors at this time of year and even though cold it was dry. I beiieve weather changing .

Nothing mentioned on our U.S stations about all the marches done on Friday all over the world mostly by young people. Out in hundreds wanting changes in all that is hurting the climate causing .was all on the international reporting. Calling it BLACK FRIDAY? all we got was how busy the shoppers were.and a little more on Trump. .

I did find the printer I wanted last night. Now need hook it up.

I was in Wallmart at 5 pm
Not to crowded but shelves pretty empty.
I was leaving and call came on to lock both enter and leaving doors.i just made it out. Headed fast for my car. No idea the problem every day at Wallmart . Always police cars around. It is one of the larger stores. More stealing goes on. Specially with employees . One on  my street embezzled 16000 dollars few months ago. They just saw were her livin boy friend back in prison.  Walmart don't bring charges ever and so I suppose people now know that. Just said she has to pay it back. No chance of that.  She would just steel it from somewhere else. People seem to keep hiring her.

Not going to spell check this as I need to get off iPad. Get busy.

Enjoy eked.

Good morning! Another lazy day here for me.

Sue....still celebrating AU win over 'Bama?  What a game that was!  War Eagle

Jane

Go Auburn!!!  What a game.  The Tennessee/Vanderbilt game was on here (of course), but great attention was paid to the Auburn/Alabama score.

Margaret threw a great dinner, of course, with a very little help from me.  We had no idea how many people would show up, but we wound up with 17!!! The weather turned really bad during the time folks were here with lightning, thunder, and really hard rain squalls.  The folks from Chattanooga had an awful trip back home, driving east back into the storms.  And those going west to the Nashville area didn't have it much better.  But the food was wonderful, and it was great being with our friends and family.  Plus there are enough left-overs to go in the freezer that Margaret won't have to cook too much for Christmas.

None of us would go anywhere near a mall on Black Friday - or any other time this weekend.  Margaret would really like to go to Knoxville for the Lady Vols basketball game today, but she knows the traffic would be horrendous coming home, so she won't be going.  She and John used to go to this game, but finally stopped because of the Thanksgiving travel traffic.  All the roads would be blocked - interstates and back roads, too.

It sounds like all have had good holiday weekends - with and without company.  Hope the upcoming week is good for all.

Sounds like everyone had a good TG and good games for their teams. Even IU won in a double OT.I was so tired Sat night, I slept 11 hours!

We've been to SS & church and I just finished lunch.  I need to put some laundry in and then write our Christmas letter to send en lieu of cards. I'm really late.

I have 2 dr's appts and then the removal surgery on Friday.

Fortunately, Sandra is coming tomorrow and clean everything well.. Stay well everyone and out of the bad weather. We had rain storms last night and sprinkles this AM, but nothing serious.  Hi to everyone!   Sharon

Marilyn

I hired my frined Dee to do the housework and tend to Keith while I am gone for Christmas  to California. She will make sure he gets his meals, cleans up the cat boxes and feeds them every  day as well. This house really need a thorough cleaning and a few  projects. There is nothing we can do about the carpet, I  might have to  enlist Dee's help and do it ourselves.

My foot is doing much better, I actually got to wear my boots to church. Now my back is really hurting me so I must call the chiropractor tomorrow for a massage and an adjustment.

maryz

Marilyn, glad your foot is doing so much better.  Now you'll have to be careful not to overdo.  Wonderful you're getting to go to CA at Xmas.

Sharon, you take it easy, too.

Guess all are getting ready for the rest of the holiday time. Margaret and I both have some doctor appointments to tend to this month - two for me in Chattanooga.  Plus one more day to finish emptying my apartment.
