jane, Does your Walmart have online ordering with store pickup?  That's what I did in Chattanooga - didn't have to go in the store.  An employee brought the order out to my car. It's wonderful!

alpiner, your new car sounds wonderful.

Jeanne and jane, sorry your taste of spring has gone.  We've got three days of rain.  It rained so hard against my windows when it started today, it woke me up at 4 a.m.!

Marilyn and Sue, where are you - haven't heard anything from you for a while.

Darlene, glad you're getting some walking in. The guy who comes to do my PT always walks his patients in the halls - very good for us.

I've finished knitting sweaters for both of our spring baby boys. Both sweaters are sized for 6-12 months, so they'll work in the fall/winter when the weather turns cool again. Now to decide what to knit next.

Hope everybody has a good week coming up.

so_P_bubble

Mary, do you knit hats to match the sweaters?

maryz

Sometimes, Bubble. We're all in the south, so there's not too much colder weather here.

I'm glued to the TV this morning.  There was a tornado that went through Nashville about 1 a.m., with, as of now, 7 confirmed deaths, and lots of damage. Fortunately we didn't get it here, but thunder woke me up about 6. I'm about 50 miles SE of Nashville (about half-way between Nashville and Chattanooga). More news later.

Hi Gals. Sorry I've been AWOL, but sitting at the computer causes my knees to hurt.  I did go to SS Sunday and to the Ortho Dr yesterday. He is very happy with my flex, but my extension still needs work, but probably won't change because my hamstrings are like iron and have always been. He says the continuing pain is probably because the surgeon had to do so much work on my knee. Apparently it was pretty bad. I did use the walker all day yesterday, both at the Dr's and at the Senior Care we went to. They have built a new one about a mile from us that opens in April. It is a little smaller than the other one, but we could keep our doctors and friends and church from around here and we wouldn't have to change drivers' licenses, etc. Also, if we needed assisted care down the line, they could just add it on and we wouldn't have to move. The down side is that the apartment is on the 3rd floor and there's not much room for Bunny to go out and walk and play. Consequently, we would probably have to give her to Brian to take care of. She probably only has 2 or 3 yrs left. She'll be 12 in April. That breaks my heart, but it's coming one way or another.

It has been raining so much here that our roofer is behing, so don't know when he'll get to it. It was scheduled for tomorrow, but so is the rain.

Jeanne, hope you get the BP stablized.  Interesting about the ancestry. Joc found some cousins that way, although I already knew about them.

One house on our street has beautiful daffodils in bloom all across her front garden. I planted some in the bottom of my pots under the pansies, but they haven't come up.  The pansies are beautiful though.

I stay out of the crowds too. The virus is scary.

Our temps range from 30 to 68. Never know what they are going to be.

Hi to Darlene, Jeanne, Jane, Mary and everyone else. Sharon

Sharon. Surprises me to see that you will be moving up onto a 3rd Floor. Place must be a big one. What is the name of it? Hope they have good Elevators. I found that my friend who moved on to a 2nd floor and was using a walker got  where she hardly ever went outside. If I moved I think i would have to move into one that still has a front door right onto the sidewalk. I am so claustrophobic. even staying in hotels gets to me. Hope you will be able to still keep the dog. It has only known you its whole life. would have a hard time moving.
I had a appt. today for myBP testing but Dr. office called me yesterday to say he would not be in. sounds like he is sick. He is Chinese and I was thinking. I hope he has not had family visiting him. We had many Dr. from India, China, Korea here and it seems like they have family visiting all the time. Even the Student from those countries get visits  from Family. specially in Summer.I doubt that the students will be going back to China on Summer break this year. They just brought another 116 students from their Studying in Italy back this past weekend. They will be Quarantined for 2 weeks .

Current reports say that there have been 22 deaths from the tornado, so far. Terrible damage!

jane

Mary...glad the tornado didn't affect you or any of your girls.  It sounds awful.

It's warmer today, but gusty winds and to rain or snow tonight...so guess spring isn't here yet.

Sharon...sorry for the continuing knee pain.  Constant pain wears a person out.

Alpiner...the seat warmers are wonderful and warmer on steering wheel, too.

Jeanne...lots of foreign students there in CU.  Good to be cautious about crowds...and doctor's offices.

I stopped in the coffee shop and met a couple people I know.  One talked nonstop and every thing seemed to be about her.
 I didn't stay long.  :smiley6600:

I made a run to WalMart for paper products and need to go back. I thought I had some paper towels and some bathroom tissue..turns out it was all paper towels.  To stay I'm stocked now with those is an understatement.  ::)

I used to buy paper products in bulk at Sam's Club, but didn't renew after Ray passed away.

Take care and stay healthy!

jane

Cottoncandy

Hi buddies.just lost my post..will try again..Jeanne hope your BP check turns out good... this new virus is scary...It's cloudy and warm here so got my walk in...where is Sue...don't recall seeing her post lately...Sharon glad your pain is better..when will you be moving?..That tornado in Tennessee was very bad...was that near you Mary? Jane I think Texas just has summer and winter..no spring..Think I will put up my hummingbird feeder.about time for them...I voted early..so don't have to do that today....have good afternoon

maryz

Darlene, the tornado wasn't too near me.  But it was only about a mile or so from my youngest daughter in Nashville. Her landlady's (and good friend's) office was destroyed. It hit Nashville in an area that had been hit by tornadoes in 1998. This one was really bad.

Hi everyone. I've been here to read every day. Freckles and I visited the Cancer center today before going over to Hospice. We stopped in at the Pet Loss group to give the people there some love. There was a new lady there who had lost her dog only two weeks ago. Freckles knew she was needed there so she sat with that lady for the longest time.

All is well here, Not much going on. I am trying to slow my life somewhat but I am still walking Freckles 3-4 times a day. We get in  about 12,000 steps a day, 5 miles or there about.

Keith has good and bad days but he is hanging in there.

I took the oldest Kitty (19 yrs) to the vet yesterday and he had 4 teeth extracted, I brought him home today, What a struggle trying to get the antibiotics in his  poor little mouth, now he only has a few teeth left. He had several removed the day before I got him 7 years ago, from Snipped where I worked at the time.

That was really a bad Tornado that Tenn. had. Wind must have been heavy around your area also. It is showing on the 5:30 news at the moment.  Looks like it and politics going to take over the TV tonight.
Jane. Like you I picked up paper towels and toilet paper yesterday thinking to stock up. Must have had the same idea empty my head last Thursday because now got double stock. I store them in my one bathroom I very seldom use. Way to many.
Yes Jane. CU is so international now. Must be 1/3 students from Asia and we have 8000 Latin people living here now. Notice more when in Walmarts. Their favourite store. Just 5 min. from me but I don't use it much.

Just showing on the local news now. Another small plane crashed outside town. This is the 3rd one now in 2 months. all killed.   There  where 3 people on this one  ,and the one 3 weeks ago 6 including a 7 year old.  They head for the 3 small Airports around the area. Have problem and head for the Interstate Landing.

Mary...no, the WalMart here in town doesn't do that grocery collection for pickup.

Sunny day with snow overnight, but it'll melt today, I'm sure.

No bridge, but our 94 yr old player called and said "let's meet for lunch anyway."  OK with me, so I'm ready to go in about a half hour.

I had a call that I have a delivery from local flower place, so I called back and said I'd pick up after my lunch out. I drive right by the place.  They did the flowers for Ray's funeral and Patricia has used them several times to send a bouquet, so I suspect she's at it again.  A lovely surprise for no special reason.

Stay safe and healthy, Buddies!!

Marilyn...good to see your post!

Jeanne...we're both well stocked up on paper products. :2funny:

Sue...we miss seeing your posts!

Sharon and Darlene...spring must be in your area of the country.  Nothing here yet...just more snow last night.

SharonE

Spring isn't here yet, but it's teasing us.

My therapist dismissed me today, and I am now using a cane! Yea! I haven't decided if I will go to an outside therapist yet or not. Too much going on.  Melanie is coming Sun for 3 or 4 days. Realtors coming later in the week. Lots of stuff to declutter and pack away before it goes on the market. I guess Brian is going to take Bunny. John is just adamant that she doesn't belong in the Independent living. We are visiting Brookdale again on Fri to see their largest apt which is on the first floor and will be available in 2 weeks.I suspect we will take it. It's not too far from the dining hall or the front door.   I'm not claustrophobic,Jeanne, but I do think the first floor is safer in general.

Marilyn, I'm glad things are a little better for you and bless Freckles for his caring for others.

Mary, I didn't realize the tornado was so close. That's scary. That was the one thing I hated about the MW.

Darlene, there's no perfect climate, is there.

Jane and Jeanne, had to laugh at your paper purchases. I tend to do that too.  Hope you have a nice lunch, Jane.   Sharon

I am just testing my wifi. Most of our erea lost wifi and Internet along with tv part.  of the day. Looks like wifi back as I m on. iPad. Some times it reaches the stores an banks but I think all quit using cable . One of these days the whole country is going to go black so easy on cable but little safer satellite I think. I can see xfinity being out of business before long. The are gettin into more than tv and Internet now loosing lot of stations and this streaming is getting popular.

Sue .that sounds better to me. Ground floor long as the building not sitting on concrete slab with no basement.
Good idea for dog also .be a lot of trouble walking it. You will miss it I am sure but good family will have it. Are the the ones with children?
Warmer here and sunny and so I need to go library and post office.
I cancelled Dr. Appt. until Friday. Usually not many there that day.

So!! I haven't been here in two years.?!!
I've been reading my old posts to see
where I stand.! The last time I was on
here,  I was looking for Ginger Wright and I never found her.
There has been a big change in my life! Due to medication problems, I have been moved to Assisted Living.  No more big apartment! No more overnights with people who visit me from out of town!  I miss being in Independent Living but I have a lovely one room place with a nice bathroom. I am waited on hand and foot!  They even do my laundry once a week plus all my meals are taken in a beautiful dining room.  Can't complain.
So I will try to catch up with you all. Please be patient with me! Thanks🙏🤓❤️.
I forgot to say my name was Ann Alden on SN and Annie on SL.

AnnieA

Want to add that I have cousins in Champagne IL and their last name is Schneider. They had 12 or 15 children so I thought JesnneP might know them!

maryz

Welcome, Annie!  Where are you located? I just moved into an assisted living facility in a small town in middle Tennessee. I had been in an independent living apartment in Chattanooga, but after major health issues moved here to be closer to one of my daughters. I'm happy in this nice, friendly, small community - like you say, being taken care of with laundry, cleaning, meals, activities, etc. I'm currently in a one-room studio apartment, but will moved into a one-bedroom unit when one is available.

Sharon, glad you're doing well, and finding a place more to your liking, and available soon. I know you'll miss your baby, but maybe he'll come to visit sometimes.

I Skyped with Jean last night, and she had driven around some of the hard-hit area in Nashville (near her house). She said she even had to pull over and just cry because the devastation was so incredibly bad - and in a neighborhood that she knows well.  The recovery will be SO hard!

Happy Wednesday to all the Buddies!

Welcome back.
Sounds like you were here a long time ago .not many here now from years back. I go back to senior net also. Sounds like you have made big changes. Hope you are keeping healthy now.
I will see if I can find any of your family here on champaign.l will check city book. Only one by that  name had a small grocer store before the big ones came in. Now the small ones are either .mexican, Chinese, or Indian.
JeanneP

AnnieA

How about looking in your phone book? Frances and Sheila Schneider live there.  Frances is the mother of that large family.  She is 102 years old and still going strong! Sheila is a professor at the Illinois university.  She lives with Frances.
I forgot to say that Frances had two sets of twin boys, born only 18months apart!

AnnieA

Frances and her husband owned a travel agency. Her parents moved in with them to help raise the kids! Sometime during those years their house burned to the ground.  This is all beyond my ken!🤓

Annie. I can check the phone book. But very few people use home lines anymore and havn't gotten a phone book past year. She may be listed in the Univ. Of Illinois College book. Now what was your last name?

JeanneP

jane

Annie...last I heard Ginny Wright was in a nursing home, so probably not online much, if at all.

A pretty day and the ice in my driveway is finally melted, but very, very windy and dark clouds now that may bring us rain.
That should take care of the remaining dirty snow.  I'm going out with a friend this afternoon.  I've also put away my winter "stuff" and am dragging out some Easter and spring colors for the house.  It's so drab without bits of color.

jane

SharonE

Annie, I go back to SN also, but have only a vague recollection of your name.  We are moving into an independent living apt sometime this spring. We're putting the house on the market within the next 2 weeks. I look forward to not cooking and having weekly cleaning. I do have a girl who comes in every 2 weeks, but that's not quite enough with the dog and all.

Jeanne, my son's sons are 18 and 21, but they do have a yellow lab and his wife is at home most of the time, so Bunny will have company, but she is really slowing down.

Jane, I'm glad someone else likes a little color in their house. So many people I know have neutral color schemes. Nice that you're getting rid of the snow. We have more rain.

Mary, it must have been devastating for Jean to see all the destruction from the tornados. It looks awful on TV.

My cleaning girl is here today and when she leaves, we're going to the grocery--for the first time in at least 2 months or so. I'll still use the motorized cart though. Too much walking without it.

I hope Sue is all right. We haven't heard from her for a week or so.

Hi to everyone I haven't mentioned. Have a good day.  Sharon

Cottoncandy

Hi everyone..just checking in...Beautiful day..walked a mile.around track field...sun feels good...has anyone hear from Sue? ..Hope she's ok...Jeanne how did your appt go concerning ur BP? Hi Annie..welcome back.Hi to JaneMary..Sharon Marlyin..have good weekend

jane

Sunny afternoon here!  I need to get out and walk, like Darlene!

I'm hosting our Friday night out thing tonight, so went down to a local place that has homemade by owners and picked up some cherry bars.  Not my favorite...but, hey, they're backed and ready to serve.  I also went to liquor store and picked up Charonnay for one of the people tonight.

Nothing exciting here otherwise.

Hi Buddies It is a dreary day here on the Oregon coast today, misting not quite a rain yet but more is to come. We took some boxes over to the church for the rummage sale next month. It was mostly cups and glasses out of one of the kitchen cabinets, plus a glass canister set and a punch bowl set. I am try my darnedest to get rid of some of the  clutter in  this house. Little by little to is going away.

AnnieA

Someone asked what is my last name.  It's Alden. I was just Ann Alden when I was on SeniorNet. Got on in 1997!

To whoever asked about my cousins in Illinois, I don't know if I am talking to them on cell phones. As to  the University listing, it would be under Sheila ??????.  Having a senior moment. Sorry 😐

AnnieA

Schneider, yaaaaaaay!

AnnieA

Jane, I heard that Ginger Wright had a stroke so I don't expect to see her on here. Thanks for your info!
