Oldiesmann: I'm not finding anything related to recipes on the site. I'll do some digging through the Internet Archive and see if I can dig them up. It's possible that got lost in the big server crash back in 2016

jane, sorry you're having such pain. My hand just would go numb from time-to-time, but at least no pain involved.

So glad to see that Jeanne and Darlene have been able to get back onto the site. I guess those glitches happen from time to time, but it doesn't make them any more frustrating.

Not much longer, Sharon. I hope all goes without too many issues, and you actually get to "live" in your new place.

Marilyn, it's great that you're able to see your Oregon coast occasionally.  We loved that area, but only got to explore twice.

Sue, I'm glad you're staying safe.

I have a doctor appointment on Monday, and I'm going to get to keep it. The office verified it this morning, and said there no special instructions (to my surprise). I've also checked with the nurse here, and will need to wear a mask and probably leave by the back door. This is mainly to check on my blood work, and be sure all that is correct. Everybody in this building (and all senior-living-facilities) is supposed to be getting the Covid test sometime next week - by order of the governor. Glad that's going to happen.

It's cold and rainy here today, and they're calling for a frost in the morning, with record low temps for the date. For some reason, I was awake at 2:30 this morning, and couldn't get back to sleep. I did get in about an hour nap midmorning, but I hope I sleep better tonight. I'm usually a pretty solid sleeper.

Happy Weekend, Buddies!

Now I am hearing that the Covid Test where they put the thing up your nose is very painful. Let us know Mary which one the use on you.  I would like them to just go ahead and find a shot that we will have to take every year like the Flu Shot. Maybe it will be one of the 5 year ones.
going to be cold here tonight also. Goes from  70s down to 30s every other day it seem. I am staying in as I got the sniffles from going without coat 2 weeks and a still sniffing. That is the only problem but soon allergies will show up. I will recognize them. My April ENT. appt to help them cancelled.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've been up for a while, made my bed, fixed and ate breakfast, and most importantly this morning, read the news paper! I am ready to go outside to walk down the hill and back.  I don't usually see anyone else on my walk, except for one man who always goes to the other side when he sees me.

Tim made me a face mask which covers my mouth and nose.  He brought it over a couple of days ago and I have used it every day since then.  I need to get outside for my walk and will cover my face with the mask Tim made.  I may see the man who walks about the same time I do, but he always goes to the other side of the street--and I'm glad of that.

I  hope Every Buddy is feeling well this morning.  Take care and keep us posted!

Saturday sunshine...but cold last night.  My plants were covered last night, and survived.  It'll be like that a few more nights.  Hurry, Spring!

I may try a walk this afternoon when its warmer.

Mary I live on the Oregon Coast.

I'm going Monday for a much needed massage. I haven't had one in a long time. The  man I m going to was my massage therapist  4 years ago and was even at Keith's and my wedding. He gives fantastic massages.

Not much else new here.  I think Keith is getting the message that  am not going to sleep inb the same bedroom and bed as him. I sellp so good  by myself with Freckles on the other half of the bed. Expecially since his  hygiene is so bad.

[size=5Good morning !!  The past few days we have had weather in the 80's , Norm has been turning on the a/c . I could do without it but he thinks its too warm .  This self isolation is getting to me !  Several times through out the day I need to take a deep breath , close my eyes & tell myself I can get through it !  Towards the end of this month we are going on a Model T Ford tour in the back country with our car club . We will back a lunch & bring along our masks & practice the 6ft social distancing . I can't wait to get out for a few hours !!
To pass the time I have been crocheting but get antsy & can't sit sit still for long .  A trip to the grocery store  is like I have been let out of a cage !!!size]

SharonE

Hi Gals, I have cabin fever too. I can't walk far, so any visiting is with the neighbors from our respective lawns. I wrote a letter to John's sister and her guardian to tell them our new address and phone #. Also called John's other sister to tell her. Since then I've put in a load of laundry. Trying to get it done early so there won't be much just before we move. Got cards from the 3 kids. Brian said he would send flowers after we moved. Lori sent a Caremark card for movie tickets near the new place. Probably be a while before we get to use then what with the quarantine and state restrictions.  Anyway, if any  of you hear of or see good films, let me know.

Alpiner, your outing sounds like fun.  Stay safe.  We don't move till the 15th--next Friday.

Sue, glad Tim got you some good masks.  A neighbor here was making them and giving them to neighbors for the asking.

Jane, I hope your hands are better now.  I have a mild carpal tunnel, but not bad enough for surgery. We are having a cold front now. Supposed to freeze overnight tonight! In May in SC!!  Then it'll be in the 70's next week.  Weird. I'm just doing little things today, nothing big.  Mary, I really am looking forward to our new place and plan to be settled in 2 weeks (by the end of the quarantine and the end of the month.) Hi Darlene. Glad you're back with us.

Stay healthy everyone!  Sharon  Just saw another bluebird at my window feeder. I love them.

Alpiner...I think we probably all share to some degree your "cage" feeling.

Marilyn...enjoy the massage.  I haven't had one, either, for years.

Sharon...it won't be long for you now to move.

A haircut is what I need...missed two now...and that's still not open here in Iowa.

I went out to Farm Fleet to get some finch food as the little rascals are eating like crazy.  I put on my mask and walked in and saw the lines waiting to check out...and probably only 2 women amongst the 20 or so were wearing masks.  I turned around and left.  Little gold finches will be on a diet until Monday or so when I'll venture back.  :coolsmiley:

Happy Saturday, Buddies!

We had a freeze here last night. Like Sharon, that's rare for this time in May. And another one is predicted for tonight.  And then, by the end of the week, we're supposed to be back in the 80s!!

Sharon, I was surprised at your having to get a new phone #, but I guess you still have a land line. I've gone without one since I moved over here - just my cell phone. And that number doesn't have to change. I had kept my land line when I moved in Chattanooga, but it had gotten to where I never gave that number out, and I never answered it if it rang. Oh, well...

Marilyn, I'm so jealous about your massage. For a number of years, a massage every three weeks was one of my two "pampering" things. The other was my mani/pedi. And now I have neither.  Oh, well - the mani/pedi will eventually come back (I hope), but probably not the massage.  And, oh my gosh!, do I ever need a haircut. I usually get one every three weeks, and I haven't had one in almost two months.

I've had an interesting variety of birds at my feeder, but the !@#$% squirrel all but cleaned it out this morning. Nothing will keep them off this kind of support (a shepherd's crook pole), so a baffle wouldn't work. Nothing I could do from inside would scare him off. And I tried everything I could think of, short of breaking the window (they don't open - or at least I couldn't open it). Oh, well - he was well fed today.

alpiner, sorry you're having such a tough time inside. Your car outing sounds like fun, though.

Darlene, you've probably said, but I've forgotten, which part of Texas do you live in? I grew up in Houston, and still have some family in the Valley. John's parents lived in Ft. Worth.

Hugs to all the Buddies!

Mary I live in what they call hill country...about 150 miles north East San Antonio...Texas....

JeanneP

Candy. You can't be to far from my daughter in Texas if you are East of San Antonio. she is in Magnolia.
I am also beginning to feel really locked up now. Only place I have been is grocery stores.
Had a mess last night early. The Electricity in the kitchen area of the house all quit running. No Fridge, no plug in would work at all. The lights seemed to be O.K. I worked on the fuse box and nothing. Had to run a big cord to bedroom to put fridge on. Was lucky as I called one of the Service men on his own phone and not the office. Known him for years. He came out and took care of it. My stupid fault as usual. What i was doing was fixing fry chick in my Fat free cooker , running my MW same time and then turned on the Electric kettle. Same time the freezer in fridge turned on as so overloaded the whole area. I didn't realize that my things were such high. Both the MW and Cooker are 1200. So learned a lesson .
Marilyn.
You are more trusting than me. I would not be taking a massage right now. We have nothing opening up around here. Not had a haircut for 2 months. I can shampoo and it just curls more but looks awful. I like to blow it out. I am not even shampooing it daily. Might just quit that later also.
Just the library opening up would help me. I try on the Ipad to read and just did get through one good story. Just prefer books by hand. Can sit hours with them but 15 minutes on the Ipad.
We got down to 32 deg. also last night. Fact furnace running still.
Daughter called to say that she sent something to me for MDay and they delivered it to her in Texas. Only 1200 miles away from me. They said  their mistake and would express another out. I had sent something to her 3 weeks ago that was suppose to be 3 days. She got it just last Thursday. I am not going to mess with on line buying for awhile.

Good afternoon, Every Buddy.  Arden and Kris picked me up about 12:30 and took me to their house
for a late lunch/brunch.  Tim did all the cooking as usual and it was all delicious.  I enjoyed the meal and also the company.  Staying inside most of the day is very depressing.

I do walk outside every day, but I fell yesterday and have a sore rib cage.  I'm hoping it will heal quickly and no more pain.  I may skip tomorrow's walk down hill and up!

Not much else going on here.  Tim made a really good lunch--fresh corn on the cob, grilled ribs, and other veggies.  I enjoyed the food and the company.

Oldest son came by this afternoon to give me a Mother's Day/ late birthday gift , an orchid plant & scratch off cards .  He wore a mask & we visited with him 6ft clearance on the front porch .  He has naturally curly hair & is in bad need of a hair cut ! My husband Norm has curly hair too & its getting wild ! Both are letting their facial hair grow & they are looking scruffy . Youngest son who still lives at home also is in need of a hair cut & shave .  Its a sign of the time .Tomorrow we will just order a pizza & have dinner at home .

SharonE

Hi Gals. Hope you are all having a good Mother's Day! I know some of you don't have kids, but I think all of you have mothered nieces, nephews, students, etc, so you all should celebrate.

I haven't done anything but talk on the phone. Two girls called, a neighbor, and then my sister-in-law. Our son will call this evening, I expect.

Now I can't remember what anyone said, so guess I'll catch up tomorrow.  Stay safe!  Sharon

Happy Mothers Day!

The "children of my heart" called and we spent an hour Catching up.

Gloomy, cold, blustery day here.  I've covered my geraniums again tonight.

PT tomorrow and I'll go grocery shopping...all out of fresh veggies and fruit.

My day started out Sat. night at midnight with call from Texas daughter that husband had to go emergency at hospital. So on the phone until 2am. She could not go in as they did admit him. Out there on a dark parking.Told her they were keeping him as it was  appendicitis bad. She went home and they called to say that operation done this morning and they wanted her to pick him up between 1 to 2pm. Isn't that something. No wonder lots of people dying in hospitals.
so tonight I am now off to bed and make up sleep. All the excitement I need.
Hope all had a nice day. So people did seem to go out and visit. Its pretty bad in my town again at the moment so I am going to stay close to home this week.

Hi Gals, I'm sorry my mind had senioritis yesterday. Sue, I'm so sorry you fell, but glad it wasn't worse than it was. Sounds like a nice time with Tim and family. Please be careful on your walks.

Jane, I love the phrase, "children of my heart". That expresses it so well. Glad you heard from them.

Mary, I've been clipping my hair with scissors for the past 2 months or I would look like that TV character, cousin IT or something like that. My hair is so heavy and thick and I don't dare trim it on top or back. Pretty soon I'll look like one of those 70's helmet heads!

We had a sad thing yesterday:  John was doing a last trim, etc of the yard and pulled all my pansies out of the pots because they were so leggy and ugly. In the process, he pulled out a wren nest with 2 eggs in it. He hadn't seen it and it was ruined when he did.  I knew there was a wren somewhere over around the trellis and pots, but didn't think about warning John.  They are so sweet and sing so beautifully.

Jeanne, I'm sorry to hear about your sil's appendicitis, but these days, it's usually done laparoscopically and they are discharged as you said the next day. I'm sure he'll be okay. Just get some rest for you.

Marilyn, Keith's feelings may be a little hurt, but you need your rest. I'm sure you are exhausted watching out for him.

My drapes were finished being altered and John picked them up today. I still haven't been in to inspect them. I was in the middle of sorting my meds when he got home. I finished the hangars while he was gone and have just now finished lunch. I think I'll put another load of laundry in in a bit. I did 2 yesterday, but don't want much to take.

Can't think of much else to yammer about so all for today.  Stay safe.  Sharon

maryz

Sue, sorry about your fall. Glad it wasn't worse, and that you were able to get up by yourself. I'd have to stay there until someone showed up to help me - why I never go anywhere without my phone.

Marilyn, I agree with Sharon, and am just glad you're getting some good rest.

jane, I love the term "children of the heart"! I have my own daughters, but I also have some "heart children", too.

Jeanne, sorry about your SIL's middle of the night emergency, but appendicitis seems to happen like that, and caught early, it's an easy fix.

Sharon, I love the wrens, too. So sorry about the nest - I'd hate that, too.  Margaret always has some in her front porch hanging baskets.

Darlene, I know about the Hill Country. A distant cousin lived in Wimberly for a while, but we never got to that part of the state that I remember.

alpiner, I Skyped with Kate and Jean yesterday, and of course, they commented on my hair. They probably don't remember seeing me with it this long. I don't really remember having it this long either. LOL.

Margaret took me to the doctor this morning. It was really quick. I stayed in the car until they called me back. My BP was high and, as usual, the pulse/ox measuring thing on my finger wouldn't register properly (it never does!). He made some medication alterations, but all was okay otherwise. She had me back home in no time. And she refilled my bird feeder. It was time to redo my medication boxes today, too. I do three weeks at a time, morning and evening, so it takes a while. But at least it's done.

Hope everybody has a good week coming up. And that Sharon's move on Friday goes well.

Afternoon sunny then gloomy Monday greetings.
Sharon...not too many days now for the big move!

Mary...Glad the doc visit went well.

I went off to the Therapy place and he gave me more exercises to do.   :buck2:   I'm not a good patient, I know, but I'm trying.

After therapy, I was off to WalMart...on same part of town and got my groceries and off to Farm Fleet...also that end of town and good the finch feed for the hungry little rascals.  Brought all the groceries home and then...ATE OUT for LUNCH!  Yes, in a restaurant...and not my old pathetic cooking.  Very gourmet....'burger, fries, coleslaw!  Yep, I really know how to live!! :2funny:

The downtown and out to WalMart paving is done and they're finishing up the road markings.  HURRAH!  Now, I think they'll be coming up my street next.

Hi Gals. Well, I got up to good news and bad news and then hand some more of each. None horrible, but Bunny has started having accidents. No UTI last week, so have a call in to the vet. Then the trash picked up a bunch of stuff & picked out the snow shovel and another shovel & put them in the cab.  John had given me such grief about the snow shovel, but I needed it to scoop a place for Bunny to do her business if we had snow. Of course, we never had any accumulation after I bought it!
;D . Then I found out the Salvation Army isn't coming till Thurs when our packers are finishing everything up, then I had to inquiries about my bedroom drapes. Whether they will come through or not is the question. They are beautiful custom drapes for a triple window, so I hate to give them to SA, but if they aren't bought before Thurs, that's where they are going. Vet called and wants to check Bunny for a UTI tomorrow. I thought they did that last week! Not happy.

I actually have a free day today! Auctioneer tomorrow. Hi to everyone. Have a good day. I'm out of books! Sharon

Good morning, Sharon and Every Buddy looking in this morning.  I've been up for a while, had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen.  I want to get outside for a walk, but I fell a couple of days ago while walking and am still sore.  I may not go as far as I usually do.

Not much else going on here today.  I am sore from the fall and will probably stay inside and read most of the day.  I hope Every Buddy is feeling well and the weather is pleasant at your home.

Have a nice day Every Buddy and stay safe!

Not so lucky on SIL trip to hospital for appendices. The did do it lipo. And said could pick him up that same day. But then they got a call to say he was back  in surgery again and they had to open up and do the old way lots of stitches now. Also keeping him in on meds for a infection. Will have to be in quarantine for 2 weeks.
JeanneP

maryz

Sorry to hear that, Jeanne. Guess there was more infection than originally thought. Hope all goes well from now on.

Sue, take it easy on the outside walks.

Sharon, this is a tough week for you, too. Is the "social distancing" causing too many problems in the move?

jane, our temps have been crazy, too. Not as cold, but then you don't usually get as hot and humid. And we're due for a bunch of that by the end of the week.

My new double bed was delivered this morning, and our maintenance guy got the twin bed taken down and put in the hall, and the new one assembled and set up. Margaret will pick up the twin tomorrow. And the RAs will get the new one made up for me. I have sheets, and will just use the blanket and quilt/coverlet that I had on my queen before.

Happy Tuesday to all the Buddies!

Dang it! wrote a post and it disappeared.

Jeanne...sorry about SIL and surgery.

Sue...good to rest if you're still sore from fall.

Sharon...wow...you're really rolling along.

Mary...hurrah on new bed!!

Beautiful day here...got my plants out and baskets up and watered and even got a walk in.

T'storms for tomorrow and Thursday.

Baltimore Orioles and beautiful gold finches at feeders.  They are beautiful!

Marilyn

My massage yesterday was wonderful. He even massaged my feet and that felt so good. Not much new here today. it has been raining so I put on my rain suit and Freckles wore her raincoat nd we have done two walks, that is it for todayu.

I also did an Instacart order and got my groceries. there are just a few things I will need to get at Walmart to complete my list. Things that they didn't have at the other store. The young man who did my shopping did such a good job I gave him a good tip. (Added to my bill) He also has a charity  of doing masks for free and sending them to people who need them. He gave me one as well.

JeanneP

Mary.
Bet you sleep well now I you're new bed. I have both sizes but prefer the double.
Now I have to buy queen sheets and every quilt for my double because the newer mattresses are so deep as I have one of the couchioned top type  .must be at least 14 inches deep. Also has raisers under legs 3 more inches.  Have to jump to get up. Love it all.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've had breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen, but so far that's it besides reading the morning paper.  Still more corona virus news here at our local hospital.  Not as many deaths, but plenty of the virus.  The nurses and the doctors are working constantly to help all those with the virus, but it seems to be very hard for them to keep up with the patients.

I am planning a walk shortly down hill.  I can do about 3 blocks without tiring, so will try that again this morning.  Going down is not difficult, but coming back up tests my legs!

I hope Every Buddy is well this morning and the weather is nice where you live.  Take care, Buddies!

Hi Gals, I was up early for me since the auctioneer was coming this morning--he's still here, but is taking some things we were going to give to SA because I had less for him to auction than planned because I sold so much. I also had to take Bunny to the vet for a urinalysis and yes she had an infection and is on meds now. Then I picked up a new rx of tramadol to be sure I had enough till I get a new doctor. Can't get by without that. Unfortunately, he only wrote it for 30 days. I do have some left from my last rx, but I won't be able to drag my feet in finding a new dr.

Mary, hurrah for the new bed. I hope you sleep well in it. I hurt so much in the morning and it hasn't been that long since I got a new mattress.

Jane, you got a lot done this morning too. I would really like to go to WM, but ours is just swarming with people all the time. I just cant take the risk.

Sue, be careful!

Today is my oldest grandson's birthday--34! I talked to him last night. No other news for now. Sharon
