Just had another big storm but the sun was out at the same time . Temps gone further up, not down any. 94 right now. I need to take my phone to be checked at Walmarts as not working right. Spent about 4 hours altogether on phone to company but got no place. Talking to Guatemala. Can't seem to get a USA.
Our Electric keep flickering but not gone out yet. Comcast internet and Wifi is just crawling along.
I just do not feel that safe going to talk so close with Walmart Electronic Dept. Maybe wait until about 7 pm tonight
 
 

We had rain yesterday for two short bursts, and to maybe have more tomorrow.  96 here now. 

I was up at 5:30 am to see my sister off and then went to WalMart for unscented garbage bags.  Now it's laundry, laundry, laundry. 

I find it scary how the virus has exploded in the southern states and they don't have the tests they need or the equipment they need.

I can see so many in Texas hitting those beaches on Padra island. I know my group spent a lot of time down there in summer.iwould not go to Texas right now. Or for months . They know I don't want them up here in start of Aug. That they were planning.

Good luck with the laundry and trash bags, Jane.Isn't it irritating to pick up the wrong item. I have done it so often. NC is fairly locked down, and so is this facility, so I am not too worried. Just watch where I go and who I let in.

Jeanne, can't blame you for telling your TX daughter not to come up. Tell me how WM does with your phone. My phone battery is running down awfully fast now and I need more storage space.

Where is everyone? The PT was here yesterday and the exercises he had me doing on my arm hurt my back! Go figure! I'm going to mop the baths and kitchen today. The cleaners were here and changed our bed and cleaned the showers yesterday. They have so few workers, they don't do much. Hopefully, when this is all over, they will have more time. HOT, HOT, HOT here..and severe storms to come this afternoon. 

My sister and husband had a 12 hour drive home...and found they had had a severe storm there Tues.  They live at the top of a hill and enough water ran down the road up the hill to raise the concrete squares. 

I'm in for the rest of the day..had to mail a charger for Bill's work laptop he'd forgotten.

Not gotten anyone to work on my phone yet. Suppose to be people at Walmart and Target that you can take them to be never seem to be in the dept. Also I am getting that I don't want to be so close to anyone and would be handling back and forth the phones and talking on them. I have my home line and  Comsumer Cell still so can use them. Not on the phones very much anyway. Still hate texting and that is all the family does.
Did a run to Aldi but even at 10am just to hot out. So humid.
Did find a couple bottles of Spray Disinfectant Lycsol Not seen it for awhile. Just me in the house and so I just spray down the shower after use and do the sinks in the kitchen. Did they wood floors yesterday. Running out of that stuff also. That is it. Everything in the house needs a good dusting. I did open all the windows at 7am this morning for couple hours and turned the A/c off for couple hours. Get some fresh air in. Expecting another big storm tonight. I stood on the porch in that big on yesterday. Sure came down but felt so good.

Tuesday I had an appt. at my primary care doctor's office for a senior assessment . A medical student conducted the test .  I seemed to have passed . Yesterday I finally got an appt. for a dental cleaning .  Tomorrow I see the dermatologist to have some precancerous spots on my face zapped .  All of these appts. have been on hold because of COVID-19  .
The weather has been hot , in the 90's , so the a/c is on during the day . It cools down at night .

Good morning, Every Buddy. I've been up and dressed for a while and am ready to walk outside shortly.  I want to get my walk finished before too many people are out walking. I wear a mask that Tim made for me when I'm walking (unless I only see other walkers!).  There is one man who usually walks the same time I do, but he stays to his side of the street and I stay on mine!

There are still lots of coronavirus patients hospitalized at our local hospital and also some deaths.  It's pretty scary here and although I do walk daily, I try to avoid other people who might be walking when I do.

I'm glad to see more people posting. Jane, that is quite a drive for your bil & sister. Glad you could find his charger. It is really hot here too--in the mid 90's. I just came in from walking Bunny and whew!  I usually am cold due to my thyroid, but it was too hot for me.

The PT was here this AM and put me through my paces. He is a really nice guy and honeymooned in Paris, so we have lots to talk about between exercises.

My house is clean as of yesterday. John swept & cleaned the kitchen, I cleaned the vanities and toilets and mopped the kitchen and both baths and the cleaning gals cleaned the showers and changed our sheets. I suppose I could dust a little, but it isn't shouting at me. So think I'll read this afternoon. It's a book by Frank who is from the lowcountry. Sue introduced me to her books.

Alpiner, glad all is well with you. Stay in and stay cool.

Sue, it sounds like you are being careful with your walking, etc.  AL has really had a bad time with the virus.

I had a dermatology appt. this morning . I thought I was to have a couple of spots zapped . Both arms back of hands got zapped & several spots on my face .  I pointed out a couple of white spots & asked if those were any thing , they got zapped too !   So I have all my medical & dental appts. taken care of for 3 months .   Wish I could take a trip ! Sure need to get away just like everyone else !!

Same old story here as you all are having....way too hot and humid to be outside, and nowhere to go anyway.  I am going to make a run to the grocery store for some walnuts and a cantaloupe.

Sharon, we've been back in the dining room for a week or so ... but they've set up extra tables in the lobby. In the dining room (round tables usually for 4), we're only one to a table. The tables they set up in the lobby are the long tables, and only 2 each for those tables, one at each end. Still, it's good to be in the dining room - and LOTS easier for the staff.

alpiner, glad you've gotten those appointments taken care of. I'm certainly glad to be seeing some other people for a while. Even if it means I have to quarantine in my apartment for another few days.

I'm getting my stuff ready to leave tomorrow. Fortunately, I don't have to take a lot of clothes. With a washer/dryer in the house, it's not like I have to plan for a week. And I won't be leaving the house once I get there.  I'm sure there's wifi, and I'll have my laptop, tablet, and phone, so I'll be in touch while I'm there.

Sounds like you are working harder at your new place than you were before.  Maybe later you will get more done by the home cleaners. Good thing you have John to help. That is a lot of cleaning as you have not been in that long. I use to be a big of a fanatic on cleaning all the time. Just not anymore.
Right now i seem to keep either breaking things or loosing. Todays mess was I was watching TV eating on the Couch. Had a bowl of Cream of Broccoli Soup on a tray. Reached for a pen and all tipped over . Good thing I have slip covers which I had to take off but now need to take to Laundry. Not today. Will take all my afghans. Slip covers, bed spread and what ever else need doing on Monday. Still going to be this hot all next week. Mother nature sure is making us pay for something these days.

Jeanne, I'm a great one for dropping or spilling. If I have soup for lunch, I eat at the table because I kknow I'll have a disaster elsewhere. Actually, all that cleaning was spread over 3 or 4 days, so not too bad.I've got laundry sorted and started this morning. You might check out Best Buy for your phone repairs. I think that is where I will go, but I think you have to make an appt with the Geek Squad.

Jane, I really spaced it on my grocery list when John went and need several things. Guess I will go tomorrow or else put up with J's complaining. Hot (mid 90's) and humid here, but actually felt good when I took Bunny out. BTW, when I walk her, it's in our yard! Nothing far.

Mary, I hope you have your usual happy time at the beach, but be careful. I'm glad you are able to eat in the dining room, even if spaced out. We can't, but they are adding a few activities for us. Not sure any appeal to me, but still nice that we're moving forward.

Alpiner, glad you have all your dr's appts finished for a while. I see so many, I never finish. At least my primary makes home visits and so does the PT.

John has his important eye appt Monday to see if his field of vision is shrinking more and if blindness is on the horizon. Please God, not!

I finished my book by Dorothea Benton Frank last night--THE SINGLE GIRLS.It was light and fun. Some of you might like it.

Afternoon, Buddies!

Sharon, Mary, Sue, Alpiner, Jeanne...so good to see your posts today.  I hope Marilyn and Darlene are ok.

We had a storm come through this morning and now it's hot and humid again.  I went out to the Redemption Center to take back bottles and cans we pay deposits on, but they were locked, even though sign says 8:00-1:00 pm on Sat.  At 11;30 locked up tight.  So, I took them back to the garage.  I did go by the gas station and fill up the car.

We're to have a second round of showers this afternoon.  My yard guy is here getting everything cut and trimmed.

I watched some Netflix this morning since there's absolutely nothing on TV on the weekends but re-runs, it seems.

Now the last time I checked with Best Buys you could not go in the store. Had to order on line if buying new and then they would bring it out to your car. Not my way of shopping. So still not got phone working right.
Now Target are letting people in usual shopping hours. May try them Monday

Well here comes the storm. Wasn't expecting this but Hail Stones just pouring down on the roof. Been years since had that noise. It is cooling down but will be back up in 90s tomorrow.

Friend just stopped by to pick up a couple books and some material and Elastic to make some Masks. She stopped in Dollar tree and picked me up a couple of thing. We stayed out on porch.

Checked my car when driving yesterday. Still showing just under a half tank. It has been over a month since I fill filled up and so you can see I have not been  far. I am no more that 3 miles  from most things I use and so that makes it nice. Still not gotten my new drivers license which should have gotten in April. Did open up 3 weeks ago but place is packed. Friday they did put  On TV. Can get new licenses now but I think that means more people getting for first time or renewing .I

i only have to do the road driving Test and so I doubt I can because they will not be wanting to get in my car and be so close. Will just try and reach them again Monday. Not worrying about it. Sure not going to stand in line with all those young people either. Body to Body. I do need to see if I can get the yearly Sticker on Line by July 31. Yes they want they $175. That I think they will stop you for if not applied to your licence plate.

Off to make dinner. Rain stopped.

Jeanne, I'm glad I live in Alabama.  The license tags are a reasonable price (although I pay an extra fee for the military tag).  I have to go to the license office to get a new tag and to pay for it.  I'll have to get Tim (my son) to go with me for the tag.

How's the weather up your way?  It is blazing hot outside now and will get hotter.  I'm planning my morning walk and know I'll be sweating, puffing and panting on the way back uphill!

Trip down was hard - took much longer than usual.  Got here, house cleaning wasn't finished. Elevator didn't work, but that got fixed quickly. Then the power went out - for the whole area - off about an hour.

Much better today. Kids and babies are wonderful. The house is fabulous - lots of amenities and extras.  More later.  Stay cool everybody.

I've been on the computer a lot today working  on the enrollment for the Latin classes at SeniorLearn.  I also watched a couple shows I've come to like on Netflix.  Heavens knows there's nothing on the regular cable channels.

Morning, Buddies!

Beautiful morning here and not quite so humid.  I need to get out to the Farm Fleet for bird seed and back to WalMart for some pharmacy items. 

Our numbers here in Iowa are rising, too..and I can't imagine the meetings and planning for opening school next month.  What a nightmare. I'm glad I'm retired and don't have that to add to the stress the teachers already have.

Keith will not be going to visit  at the oldest son's house without me. That is the same son (doctor) who wanted to put him into a Memory care facility back in December of 2018, When  Keith spoke with that son he kept asking him "are you going to take care of me?" over and over again. Yesterday I found out that his ex wife was trying to farm Keith out to another friend to get him to Vancouver and told that friend that  the boys should get a helper for Keith. Our private  business is getting all over. The son is the one who ask his mother to give Keith a ride (Keith's ex). I am glad the trip was cancelled. If I take Keith to California with me at least there I will have the help of my son and his girlfriend. I just wanted to get away from home for a weekend  without taking Keith. Oh Well.

Looks like you are not going to ever get any help from Keiths family. It is going to be up to you to decide the legal work in the future. You will do the right thing. But just see, if anything happens and Keith Passes they will be right there.

Just seen it with a friend. Lived for 19 years with the man who took care of my yard for 24 years. He passed 5 weeks ago .Along came his grandchildren to decide what they were going to do . He had a grave next to his first wife. Wanted there but they said to expensive. Had him cremated and his body now in a Refrigerated truck someplace with many others being told it will be about 3 month now before can be done.
 she no longer knows what is happening. Good thing that the house,cars all hers as she had 20 years ago. His insurance was never changed but did not amount to much anyway.

Could you get anyone to come in to take care of Keith if just for a few days. get a break away . Can't go very far anyway. I know I have to get out of the house soon for more that a hour a day.

Jeanne it would cost me $15 per hour for all the hours day and night. I will not pay someone for sleeping $15 an hour, He doesn't need 24 hr care. When I went to California by myself over Christmas back in 2018 it cost me $1000+ for someone to stay here with Keith. We just don't have that kind of $$ anymore after paying 10thousnad+ to  make my car like brand new.  It is my last car. The only $$ left in savings is for the property taxes that will come up starting in November. He does have some stocks left in his IRA that I don't want to sell until the market goes back up. We are living on our Social security now.

Weatherguessers were wrong on the temp...back to 90 here.
