Sharon....yes, I believe Purdue is in and we still have snow on the ground.

Marilyn...guardianship may be your only answer now; hopefully the boys will agree and you can get it done.  Get to an attorney and find out how things word with Medicaid and his assets.

Sue...sad to hear of Tim’s dog.

Jeanne....good news on the ears.

Mary and Sandy....good to see your posts.

Alpiner...enjoy your car tour.

Nothing exciting here...still cleaning out and reorganizing stuff.

Jane

SharonE

It is now 2:30 and just now home, changed and having lunch.   I had to go to the eye surgeon's office for preop tests and lots of forms to fill out.  Then they sent me to the surgical center where I had lots more stuff to fill out and sign.  What a hassle!

It's 50 degrees and sunny here but very windy, so feels cold.

Glad you've got some sun, Jeanne, and that the ears were okay.

Hi Jane. Sounds like you are busy as ever.

Sandy, good advice, I think.

Have a good day.  Sharon

maryz

alpiner, I'll bet you gets lots of waves and conversation with you and hubby dive around in your Model T.  Lots of fun!

Jeanne, glad you got good reports from your doctor visits.  Always good to hear.

jane, good for you - keeping things cleared out.

Sharon, the paperwork is such a hassle.  What day is your surgery?

It's in the 50s here, too, breezy, and lots of sunshine - really a lovely day.  I finally get back to my nail tech tomorrow morning, and at least get my fingernails done.  They really get ratty when I don't have the gel polish on them.  Of course, no pedicure yet, but I'll be checking with the doc to find out when I can get back to that (even for only 5 toes  ;D ).  I go back to the surgeon on Thursday morning, to get the stitches out.  I'll be asking about recommendations for shoes, etc.

last night I went on the Legal Zoom website and  filled out the application and paid for the Power of attorney that covers  EVERYTHING They will go over it an  mail it to me  for him to sing in front of a notary which we can do at our bank. I told him I was doinmg that and that I had to put it on my credit card. So to my thinking he better sign it since I went to the trouble of  getting it for him.  There is one part I don't really thing needs to be on the PIA and that is the part about  owning a business, that doesn't apply anymore. But i checked off everything on the form. Just pray that he signs it after it gets here so I can go file it with the county recorder.

I looking tinto guardianship, it is time consuming, expensive and require a court appointment with a just  for hit to talk to Keith to see if he needs guardianship. so I'll just forgot that until it is necessary.

JeanneP

Marilyn.  That sound like you are handling things well.  I didn't know you could do so much with forms on line.  Has he has grown up family though I would keep them aware of all you do. I have seen where their kids don't seem to want to know what is happening but they really get involved when a person passes or becomes where they can't handle or know what is going on.  I have seen so much happen to families then when it is second marriages.

Marilyn

Jeanne His sons are the ones who've been telling me how to get tings in order an d telling me to hurry up and get it done. They've even said they don't want this house or anything else. They all have more $$ than we do. But yes I do keep them informed.

SharonE

Good for you, Marilyn, finding and filling everything out. Keep us informed on his signing.

My surgeries are 3/29 and 4/12, Mary.  Unless they change it, I have to be there at 8AM for 9AM surgery.

I need to go figure out something for dinner. Probably a Voila skillet dinner. I'm too tired to do real cooking.

Hi everybody....not much going on with me..we are having beautiful weather...70s in day and mid 40s at night...so I'm increasing my walk time.....Marlyin..good luck with what you need to do...I had all that with my husband...but he was willing.......be thinking of you on your surgery Sharon....
Jane...sounds like you are busy..I also have been cleaning closets...Hi Mary and Sue...and any I missed....hope a good week to all..Darlene

JeanneP

Sharon. I think I waited a month between getting my eyes done.
I remember had to be there at 6am and was about 9 when he got to me. Didn't take long but let me leave about 1pm
My Doctor does all his on a Tuesday. All day long. Think he had about 12 lines up that day.

Good morning, Buddies.  It's pretty chilly here this morning.  I've done my morning chores, set up one bridge table for this afternoon's bridge game (only one table this time) and folded laundry.  I've been out for my walk and although I was bundled up with a woolen cap and gloves, I was uncomfortable.

Marilyn, I'm sorry about your problems with Keith.  Good for you for getting the Power of Attorney and I'm praying that he'll sign it ASAP!  It sounds as if his sons are very supportive of you--and I hope they'll stand by you all the way!  HUGS and try not to worry (I know that is the hardest part!).

Jeanne, when I had my cataracts done, my ophthalmologist had planned a trip to Europe with his wife and 2 teenage daughters, so he did one cataract and then the following week did the second.  He wanted to get the surgery done before they traveled. It worked well for me.

Darlene, we're having sunny weather, but the temps before noon stay in the low 40's, so I had to bundle up for my walk.  I'm just glad it's not raining!

Sharon, I've put your surgery dates on my calendar and will offer prayers for good results for both.  Stacie is coming up on the 30th to pick me up and we will go to Birmingham for a couple of days with Alex.  Please have John post the results here after the surgeries.  Thoughts and prayers for both.

Mary,  I'm hoping you're not having much pain with the surgery results.  Keep us posted about what is going on.  And just think, you should only have to pay half price for your pedicure!  You can tell her that your stingy friend from Alabama says that would be the right thing to do.

Jane, I hope you and Ray are getting settled in and also hoping that you don't get a heap of snow after enjoying a nice sunny winter.  Thanks for the good thoughts about Tim and Kris's dog.  She's had a good long life, but despite that I know how hard it will be when she dies.

Alpiner, it sounds as if you're doing OK and what fun to ride in a Model T!  Enjoy!

Sandy, welcome to you--and I'm sure Marilyn welcomes your message.  How is winter up your way?  The weather channel has been showing huge amounts of snow in Massachusetts, but no mention of Maine.  I can remember some Humdingers the 2 tours we were stationed in Brunswick.

I need to fix my lunch and clean up the kitchen before my bridge buddies show up.  I'm only having one table because of illness of one player and family illness in 2 other families.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals.  Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts on my surgery, but it is almost two weeks--the 29th.

Darlene, lucky you on your weather. It is like Sue's Alabama here--cold and windy. I''m staying in.

Jeanne, I'm sure every doctor has their own time schedule for the 2nd eye. I'm just doing what he tells me. I know my doctor all his on Thursdays. He says that if he has diabetics on his schedule, they get the earliest appointments because of the fasting requirement.  Right now, I'm scheduled early, but that my change.

I've just finished my PT exercises but still have the bike to do.

Tomorrow, I'm scheduled for a haircut and highlight. I want to look good for my trip to FL next Tuesday.

No other news here.  Hi to all. Sharon

Sandy

Sue...

Yes that old storm went right over us,
dropping lots of snow.    But since the
weather is warming very quickly,
it won't be around here but for a
couple of days...

This year we had a number of storms that
left the ground dirty white for quite
a while.    We don't usually get so
much snow the first weeks in March,
but "Old Man Winter"  likes to trick
us, once in a while,  and so he has
this year.

Knowing that Spring is right around the
corner makes  late blizzards  easier to
get through.

Tomorrow I am going out with Kelly to
get my weekly errands run.    It is suppose
to be a nicer day.

Best wishes to everyone,
Sandy

Well, Even though it is still cold here i did get a sign today that spring is coming soon. Yes. Had a tiny ant in my bathroom. Checking the place out.  That is the only place I get them. Really small one. Sprayed it good so won't got back to tell its friend. I hate bugs.
Maryz.  It is still good that you want to keep your appts. with the Nail place. I should start getting my feet done as I have a time now doing nails good on my left foot, also my heals get dry.  Do you get the same girl every time? She will be surprised when you first show her.
People told me that the ones a Walmarts are good but the other day I did notice that both it and the Hair cutting place had closed down..
I think Walmarts are making lots of changes now. Asst. manager at the one by me saying that soon it will be on line mostly with a warehouse where you go to pick up. We have 4 in town. 2 of the big ones and 2 smaller. Not that I care for them but like Aldi's they are less than 5 min. from me.  Aldi now added on a big space so I like there for some things.

Sharon. Good. you are making you trip to Florida before getting you eyes done. They do want you to wear the dark glasses that they supply you with. Need outside in the sun. I really like then and wear at time in strong sunlight. They have sides on them and pretty comfy.

Asking for a friend...is free shipping offered when ordering from Amazon?  How do you qualify...thx Darlene

alpiner1

I have been using NYSTATIN for Thrush following my stay in the hospital .  The dr. said I could swallow it or spit it out after using it . I didn't swallow it because I get sick from many drugs  I must have swallowed a bit & had a stomach ache & upset stomach . This morning I had to hurry to the bathroom . I have stopped using it .  Has anyone had this reaction to it ?

JeanneP

Darline. Free if you have paid the one $99 I think it is a year or if you spend $35  for items ordered.  I usually do spend over that but don't order all the time.  My daughter is a Prime Member. Ships overnight. and if I am ordering under that then she just does it on her acct  as they have my address because she send me lots for Amazon.  Fact I think now they have me on her membership because the last thing I ordered was $21 and it came overnight no shipping charge.

Jeanne, I go to a small local nail salon - only three nail techs, and I get the same gal every time.  She actually was the one who convinced me it was time to go to see the doctor about my toes. She hasn't seen my feet yet, but I explained to her today what they looked like.  I just got my fingernails done this morning. Yea!

Darlene, shipping is free from Amazon if you get Amazon Prime.  I use my daughter's Prime membership - I think it's something like$90.00/year, but I won't swear to that.  (I see Jeanne has answered that - probably more accurately.)

I get my stitches out tomorrow.  And I'll be asking about what sort of shoes to get, etc.,  lots of questions.  I'll let you know what I find out.

Sleep well, Buddies!

Two tables today for bridge, so that was good.  Our one gal’s “forgetfulness” is getting worse.  She’ll bid with just 8 or 10 points, etc.  It’s tough being her partner.

Ray and I went to see The Post tonight.  I really enjoyed it, and remember those events.

We’re to get some “wintry mix” by Friday...sleet, freezing rain, snow, etc.  ugh.

Jane

maryz

jane, I know what you mean about aging bridge partners.  I just hope I don't turn into to one.  Or, horrors!, that I already have.  I'm looking forward to watching The Post when it gets to Netflix.  Glad you liked it.

I saw the orthopedist this morning.  They took the stitches out.  Everything looks great.  They said they couldn't believe it had been only three weeks since surgery - said it looked more like six weeks out.  So I've been dismissed, unless I develop some other problem.  I can wear whatever shoes are comfortable, and basically do anything I want (and am able to do  ;) ).  I can get a pedicure and get back in the pool in three weeks.  I know it'll take me a while to get used to walking, so I plan to wean myself from the walker to a cane.  Just around the apartment at first, but hopefully outside, and then with no assistance.  We'll see what happens.

Good morning, Buddies.  It's almost 10:00 a.m. here and I've cleaned up the kitchen and am ready to shower as soon as the dishwasher finishes the load.  I only run it about 3 times a week as one person eating/cooking doesn't dirty many dishes or pots and pans!  I've been out for my walk and will shower and dress after I finish looking through the posts here.

It's a lovely sunny day, but chilly.  Another frost is expected tonight, but no snow, thank goodness.  I saw a huge rabbit in my yard this morning and I'm hoping it's not another pregnant lady rabbit planning to leave me a nest of new borns.  Last time one did that, Stubby was still living and he brought the mama into my den and left her under my computer and then it started raining and one by one he brought the babies in.  Needless to say, the mama didn't come back after I put her outside and the poor babies which I'd returned to her nest froze.  It was a sad day for me.

I'm ready to shower and dress for my lunch out with my friend, Tammy.  She's treating me for my birthday.  She didn't say where we'll be eating, but I'm sure it will be nice.  I haven't seen her for a long while as they spend a lot of the winter at their condo in Aspen.

I just had a long distance phone call from California from a long time Navy friend, so am back now to finish my posts and get into the shower.  Have a lovely day every Buddy.

Sue

P.S. Mary, congratulations on getting the stitches out.  You are making great progress and I know you'll find some shoes that will be comfortable and get back to everything you'll want to do!

Mary...hurrah for good healing feet!

Nice day here...had to run to WalMart for a prescription for my allergies, and now home and cleaning gal is here.  Much needed as I can't get down to wash floors in kitchen and bath anymore.

I'm hoping we can do a walk this afternoon as it warms up and the wind stays down.

Mary, what good news! Just be very careful as you wean yourself to the cane and without. SAS shoes are very comfortable and so are Alegria. The latter was designed by a podiatrist, I think. For a long time thaat was the only place you could get them. Now, even QVC has them.  I know you will be glad to get back to the pool.  Just don't slip on the wet concrete!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SUE!  AND MANY MORE!!
:hb3: :balloons:

It is really windy and chilly here. I've been on the go since morning. I got my hair cut and highlighted and she did a great job. Then I came home for a bite to eat and then John went with me to the library and the grocery. He brought it all in and helped me get it put away.  As we were comining home, we saw lots of smoke from an area not too far from us and by the time we had the car unloaded we heard all kinds of sirens. It sounds like a very unhappy day for someone.

I have a free day tomorrow, so think I will go get a pedicure just in case I can weaar sandals in FL.

Hi Darlene and Jane.  I couldn't get by without my cleaning lady twice a month. She stays for 3-4 hrs dependinng on what I need done. She also does windows.

All for now. Sharon

What a beautiful day today. up to 60. sun out and everyone seemed to be smiling.
Went and got my hair cut. Always feel good to do that even though very little taken off but lots of shaping. She was really busy as by herself today. 2 girls out with the flu. Man from next door was ahead of me and couple other men came in. All of us chatting away. think it made her feel better as better than them sitting like in a hurry.

Mary. Things sound so good with feet. You do heal fast.I do also.
How many sizes do you think one shoe will go down?  I do have some SAS but not worn in awhile. Now I think they have nicer looking ones. They do have nice sandals which will be comfy for you I think. Wouldn't hurt to ask store if they have some Samples of their better brand of shoes. It is amazing how many people will change the sizes in a shoe box taking different sizes. I have feet that one could get by with a less size. I am 81/2 and could almost go down to 71/2 on the other. Never have swapped though.

Our Mayor is having a marathon Sat. at 5pm then a get together after . think she is counting of seniors entering. she must be wanting something. anyway I will enter. Its a funny one. goes from the City building on corner to the courthouse next street corner. one block. Think I can handle that .

Sue.  Hope you had a nice birthday.  Mine I see is coming up also which means have to go and take my drivers test. Will do it next week.
I starting to get my estate in order way back last May. Got the attorney and had a hour meeting. Just talked to her once since to say I was working on getting things together. Still not done it. So much paper work.  But I did today go to work on Funeral type things. Working with 2 cemeteries . One more to go. Gosh prices are unbelievable. But I am going to stick to getting it all done. Be easier if the one Daughter who would be the most help lives in Texas. I have books here so will take a look through them. I just hate doing this sort of thing.
Lots of place around my area  are new and for sale. Keep seeing people be shown the one next door and so far not what I want in there. One yesterday was a man with 4 young children chasing around. Only has 2 bedrooms so can't think why he even looking.

Not much worth watching on TV tonight it seems. I have been putting in DVD all week after 8pm.
JeanneP

maryz

Jeanne, I don't think I'll have to worry about shoe size. Most of the foot is still the same size as it's always been.  And I won't be wearing any open-toed shoes or sandals in any case.  I haven't worn hose in years and never wear shoes without socks.  I just go for comfort - definitely not looks. Glad you had such a good day today.  Makes us feel like spring is definitely on the way.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

JeanneP

MaryZ.  Forgot to ask.  Will you be able to get a Disabled Parking card now? Now I was thinking that our toes made our feet at least a inch longer. My one granddaughter has the longest toes I have seen. Looks like about 2 inches long. Very narrow feet. Mine are sort of wide and so I buy the wide shoes. The have also gone up from a 6 and1/2 to a 8/12 in last 10 years.

maryz

Jeanne, I've had a handicapped parking sticker or license plate for 8-10 years.  When knitting socks, the general rule is to allow two inches length for shaping the toe section, so you're  right about that.

Not the greatest night for me.  I slept soundly from 11 to about 3, but not much since then.  It's 5 a.m. now, and I just gave up trying to sleep in the chair.  I'll be going to meet the swimmers at Panera at about 9 and then pick up an order at Walmart.  After lunch, hopefully some nap time.

Good morning, Buddies.  This will be a quickie as Tim is coming in about 20 minutes to take me to Kroger for a quick grocery run and we'll come home so I can put the perishables away and go out to lunch.  I'm being picked up at 1:00 for a funeral at church that I must attend, so this is the best we can do today.

Other than the funeral not much else to report.  It is sunny but cool again this morning.  However we're supposed to get a warmer afternoon today.  I hope all Buddies are well and have a nice day.  I'll be back later this afternoon.
