I saw my primary care dr. this morning & asked him about Prolia & that the cancer dr. wants me to take it .  He said no & the cancer dr  does not know my medical history . She doesn't know I have respiratory issues & when I saw her last she asked me about the oxygen I was using .  One of the issues with Prolia is that it can cause shortness of breath, I already an dealing with that  .  I'm happy my primary dr. said no . For me there are too many bad affects .  The dr. said it it interferes with elecrolytes also .

SharonE

Alpiner, that is very interesting.  I have some shortness of breath due to my heart problem, although not severe. I will pass that on to my primary care dr.

Jeanne, they did mention removing a lens, but I have Silhouette glasses with no top structure, so can't do it. Sorry you are having trouble sleeping through the night. Are you taking too long of naps during the day?

Mary, your accountant sounds like a very thoughtful person to hand deliver your taxes. My accountant called to ask a question she had sent an email about which I answered, but apparently the email didn't send! Anyway, we should get ours soon.

I'm a little less scratchy this AM and can see better with my glasses. Still a problem without them.  I've done my PT and read my SS lesson and devotions, but need to put in a load of laundry soon and either take a walk or ride the bike.  It is in the 60's today.

Marilyn, I'm glad K hasn't progressed that far yet.  I hope you get a good classful for Tai Chi.
Sharon

Marilyn

Mary I have the used of the big activity room in the Housing Authority office building. I'm sure I will get some students when my new class starts on April 17th. I have enough flyers out, even in my chiropractor's office, he  is recommending my class to some of his patients.

Sharon I too am glad that Keith hasn't progressed to the point when  I can't leave him alone at home. He seems OK most of the time,  it is the little things that probably only I see.

jane

A chilly start to Easter morning here in western ‘burbs of Chicago.  We’ll leave in a half hour for Ray’s niece in Geneva, IL, and Easter dinner at noon.  Then we’ll head home.

Snow in Iowa, but south of us, so it should be a good drive.

Lovely day here - predicted high in the mid70s.  I saw a pair of bluebirds working on their residence in one of my two bluebird houses.

Jane.
Geneva.  Nice place to spend Easter. Love that town. LIke to live there. Just close enough to Chicago to make that visit often.
I think you will be O.K driving. Said we would have snow but none. Still cold though

Worrying now about all my books that I bought and they are on my IPad. Most not yet read.

But now a tech problem again.
I think I just blew my IPad. Strange. It did start up . They said like."Slide to power off" Thought I would do that as not done awhile. Turned it back on and nothing. It had 60% power still but just blank. I plugged in to power cord again but nothing works. Was working perfect last night.
Could it be the battery died? I will take it to Best Buys tomorrow and check. Never thought they just did that without some warning.

Hope you all having a nice day...

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. Other than church & SS, we stayed home for a quiet one. Brian called, so we caught up with him.  They've added several duties to his job so he is busier and happier. He was pretty bored at first.  Braeden did the Memorial Bataan Death Watch run of 26.2 miles with a 35 lb pack on his back. Those who did that carried foodstuffs like rice, etc thaat they donated to a food pantry after the run. He had the honor of shaking hands with some of the survivors of the original Bataan Death March.  One was 100 yrs old and walked a little way with the participants.

Jane, I hope you had the expected good drive up to Geneva and a nice Easter visit & dinner.

Jeanne, I hope you don't get more snow and that your IPad is fixable.

Joy, we got up to 76 degrees.  No Easter eggs here. I fixed blueberries in dessert shells with lite Cool Whip for dessert.  Trying to keep it somewhat low calorie.

Mary, I do hope your bluebirds nest in your box.  The 2nd one will probably not be ussed unless it is of a different species.  Bluebirds require or demand 100 yard territory between boxes.  You might get chickadees or nuthatches though.

My cleaning girl is here today and Computer club is this afternoon.  My eye is better each day.

Marilyn, I do hope K's progression is very slow. It sounds like it is.  Good luck with the sign-ups for your class.

Hello Buddies.  It was chilly in Savannah over the weekend.  I had to buy a very tacky hooded sweat shirt to wear because it was COLD there!  We ate some yummy meals at several different restaurants and walked all over Savannah's water front checking out shops which were mostly full of tourist junk.  Alex was with us as he had to be back at Birmingham Southern U. this morning, so we left there yesterday afternoon and spent the night in a motel near his University.  I'm glad to be home, though, and have been calling my Thursday bridge club as I am the hostess this week.  I have reached all except one, so hope to get her later--I left a message.  Stacie is on her way home to N.O. and will call me when she gets there.  She thinks about 7:00 p.m.

It sounds like Easter was nice for those who've posted since I was away.  Later, Buddies!
Sue

SharonE

Sue, glad you're home safely and had a good time in Savannah, even if it was chilly.  Braeden wentback to school today too.

Darlene, have fun at your daughter's. Wish mine were close enough to visit regularly.

Ooops, I need to go fix supper.  TTYL  Sharon

maryz

Glad everybody had a good weekend.  Sue, I do love Savannah.  I'm looking forward to getting over there for our Sarah's wedding next March.

Sharon, glad your eyes are doing better.  They do heal quickly.  My bluebird houses are about 20 yards apart - facing in different directions.  I hope they're not too close.

Darlene, always fun to spend time with the "kids".

jane, hope you're home safely.

I had a deer almost come up on my deck over the weekend.  He was young, with his antlers just beginning to show nubs on his head.  But he was enjoying getting a snack from the new growth on my knock-out rose bush.  Played duplicate tonight - my partner and I tied for FIRST!!  It was so nice to get some good cards, and to have enough to play some good defense, too.  I'm going to spend time next weekend with Margaret, Kate, and Jean - we're having lunch on Saturday with John's great-nephew and his lady friend who are visiting in Nashville from California.  I haven't seen him since he was about 14, and I don't think the girls have ever met him.  Should be fun.

Sharon, spring break must be over for lots of students.  Alex had 6 weeks off and Stacie was ready for him to go back to school!

Mary, I'm sorry the young deer nibbled your rose bush but what fun to see him up close.  Congratulations on the First prize at your duplicate evening out.  Next weekend sounds like a fun time for you with 3 of your girls and John's great-nephew and lady friend from Nashville.

Good night all.  I've been watching a movie and trying to work up getting into jammies and into bed.

Sue

Sue....I know you were happy ND beat UConn in women’s tournament.

Jeanne...hope all your Ipad needs is a hard reset.  Hold down both the power key and the home button together and keep them both down for a minute or two.

Your books are still there...put a kindle app on your desktop and load your books there.

We had a good drive home and a cold day here today.  Tomorrow winter storm again...3-6 inches of heavy wet snow.  I hope that is the last of it.

Good morning, Buddies.  It was pretty chilly in Savannah.  I bought a really tacky sweatshirt to wear as I had expected warmer weather.  We walked everywhere downtown and drove out to the beach where it was even more chilly!  The food was excellent except for the Paula Deen restaurant.  It was just way too countryfied for me!  I did like the fried green tomatoes, but that was it--and we'd had to stand in line outside for 30 minutes to get inside.  I don't recommend it.

It's dark and dreary here this morning and I think it might rain.  I haven't been outside to walk yet, but am waiting for my laundry to be ready for the dryer.  I've been looking for Tim as he usually stops by on Monday, but since I didn't get home until almost noon yesterday I haven't seen him.  He's probably busy this morning.

Jane, indeed I was happy about Notre Dame beating UConn.  I can't remember how many times UConn has won, but it's almost all of the final 4's that have been played in the women's tournaments.  I'm sorry you're looking at more snow now.

Have a good day, Every Buddy.

Sue, My daughter, Margaret, and her sister-in-law went to Savannah a number of years ago on a road trip - mainly because the SIL wanted to eat at Paula Deen's.  Margaret felt the same way you did.  She hated the long wait, and felt the whole thing - food and all - was highly over-rated.

Hi Gals, I have a load of laundry in and have written a thank you note + usual morning stuff.  I need to go pick up a couple of Rx's later, as well as take Bunny for a walkie.  It is to be 78 today. Was 82 yesterday.

Mary, how fun to see the deer almost on the deck. Fortunately, knock-out roses grow back quickly. Fingers crossed for both your bb houses being occupied.  I wish our wedding a year from now was in Savannah. Instead it is in Evansville, IN!  Not an interesting destination, but at least all the family will be there. Thomas, the groom-to-be, joined his fiance's Catholic church this past weekend. She is quite devout, so I'm glad he did.  Your weekend with far-flung family and daughters sounds like lots of fun.  Congrats on the first in duplicate!!  That's what keeps you coming back.  John just left and I wished him a good game and he said he hoped so because his last couple had been lousy.  So everyone has ups and downs.  My game last Wed was lousy too.

Sue, I never had any desire to eat at Paula Deen's.  Too much fat, frying and butter--all no-no's for me. Glad the rest of the trip was good though.  I don't think Braeden's spring break was over a week or two. He gets out in mid-May. I was glad ND won too.  A good IN school!

maryz

Sharon, it's hard to get away from my family.  My Kate lives south of Evansville just outside Madisonville, KY.  ;)

Pouring down but have to go and take my road test for driving license.
Jane.  Now that did work on getting my IPad back running.
Never heard that you can transfer your Ipad books over to a desktop.  Would not need to do all but just some I wouldn't like to lose. I don't have the Kindle on my desktop so will have to find out how to do it.  Do you have a easy way. It would be great also if our books could be put on a Thumbdrive. last for ever that way.
JeanneP

maryz

Jeanne, if you bought your ebooks from Amazon, they are always available from Amazon.  Go to your Amazon account and choose Manage Electronic Content.  From there, you can put your books anywhere you like.

Forgot to mention earlier that we got our tax forms back from the accountant yesterday and we actually got a refund!!!  First time in a long time. It was just enough to cover estimated taxes.  I guess we were more generous with our charity donations this year that shot our deductions up.  Nice surprise.  We didn't do it for that reason, but nice outcome.

Wow, Mary, you do have family all over!  I still haven't downloaded any books, but I keep planing to.

Glad Jane's tip worked, Jeanne.  She is the techy amongst us! Yuck on the rain and having to take a driving test in it to boot.

Jane, I hope the expected snow passes quickly. Glad you got home first.  Sharon

JeanneP

Mary.

I think the only books I bought from Amazon are on my Amazon Fire. Not on the IPad.  Most on there are from Bookbob or whatever that is called.

Got a Tornado watch here at the moment. Im off

Good morning, Buddies.  I'd planned more yard work for today, but it is rainy and dreary here this morning and unless it brightens up, I'll probably work inside today.  Not much to do, though, as my cleaning ladies were here last week and floors were cleaned along with everything else.

I have an Amazon account and Bill and Jon's wives send me gift certificates from there, which is really nice as I can buy used books which are selections for my book club--at a reasonable price.  I also buy children's books in December to take to my book club's Christmas gifts to schools which need library books for primary grade readers.  I choose books which my former primary grade students loved to read and to also listen after lunch before getting back to work!

Have a nice day, Buddies.

I went for my first postop pedicure this morning, and it was WONDERFUL!!  It felt so good to get my feet taken care of.  The skin on my legs and feet was so dry and scaly.  She massaged them using some granular orange-scented sugar (just for pedicures) which removed all that old skin and felt SOOOO good.  All in all I'm a very happy camper for the rest of the day!   :nanadance:
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Mary, sounds like the pedicure was just what you needed.

I did my PT exercises this AM, had lunch and then went to the grocery. This time I went to Publix because I am getting so fed up with HT dropping brands and just stocking generics. It's more convenient and cheaper at HT, but decided I would see if Publix carried what i needed.  It seemed to. I had to go to HT to get 2 RXs, but if I start shopping regularly at Publix, I'll switch them over.  I also took some overdue books back to the library. I just haven't been able to read much.  I owed a whole 60 cents!!  I seldom let them go past the due date and did try to return them Monday, but they were closed then.  I also stopped and deposited a check at the ATM.  Now, I am really tired.  Sharon

JeanneP

Sharon.  I think all the stores are doing the same. All now showing many things under their own name taking place of Brand names. They say it is still the same stuff but can tell that it isn't. Walmarts have dropped stocking lots of things. You can find them on their Web sight and they will ship and you can pick up at store. Every grocery store in town here will now let you shop on line and they will deliver to your home. Soon even the clothing stores and lots of the big ones in the Malls . You can now buy on their Web sites and pick up in 24 hours at store. Soon they will deliver to you. Gone is the fun of shopping.
Saying snow here starting tomorrow night. Still need to do the road trip for driving license . Only got a week before mine runs out. Going to try tomorrow.

Still cold here....19 when I went to bridge.  Nobody had good cards, it seemed.

Tomorrow it’s to rain or snow again...and maybe snow again Sunday. I don’t know where Spring is....sure hope it turns up soon!

Jane

maryz

jane, we were down near freezing here this morning - so the cold snap seems to be pretty widespread.  At least no snow here

I've been to Silver Sneakers this morning, and will play some bridge after supper - but that's about it for the day.

Happy Thursday, Buddies!

It's chilly here, too, Buddies, but expected to warm up this afternoon.  I've been outside for an hour pulling weeds and clearing out my flower beds.  I'm inside now getting ready for bridge here at 12:30.  I put the tables up yesterday and am now trying to tidy up books, etc. that I always seem to have all over the place.  Will also put out cups for coffee and glasses for tea and/or water and bottled coke for those who'd like that.

I had to get a sub on Monday as Ethel called and told me that she was having 2 teeth pulled yesterday and didn't feel like she'd want to play bridge yet.  Diana, our favorite sub is coming in her place.

I need to get into the shower and dress and finish my chores.  Have a nice day, Buddies.
