Cold here, too, and it just started to snow again, a bit ago.

I'm catching up on laundry and Ray is off doing some errands for us.  It's going to be a quiet, easy day here.

jane

Marilyn

Well it looks like I haven't been here for a few days. It has been a busy week for Freckles and I, We worked one of the schools two days in a row, a rest home yesterday and going to the hos[pital today. Plus teaching my Tai Chi Class and cleaning the house, did some vacuuming yesterday in  places it was badly needed.

Mary I am loving  my pedicures, I only went to the podiatrist for years, not  my nail stylist is doing my pedicure and Keith's too.

SharonE

Sounds like you all are having it colder than we are.  Was to be 65 this afternoon. Suspect it was higher.  I had a neighbor drive me to the cataract dr today for my preop. He was going to dialate my left eye, so didn't feel I could drive.  I took my neighbor to lunch afterwards and then came back here and talked till 4:00!!! Her husband is getting confused and possibly starting dementia and she is so upset about what to do.

Our SS teacher called last night and asked if one of us could teach SS this Sunday as he is preaching at both services.  John will be at a tourament, so guess I got the short straw.  I haven't even read the lesson yet.

Tomorrow, I have to go to my regular optometrist for a recheck for some reason. The cataract office made the appt.

BTW, everything was fine with my right eye that was operated on last week.  No other news here. Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've had breakfast, read the paper, and cleaned up the kitchen.  I have a load of wash in and hope to get it dried before Tim gets here for our lunch/Kroger shopping/library stop date.  I need to do another load, but will wait until we get home from our errands.

Bridge was fun yesterday although I had so/so cards.  This group is very congenial and although Ethel was unable to come because of dental extractions, our favorite younger sub was able to play with us and everyone had a good time.

Sharon, I'm glad your eye surgery went well last week and hope the next eye goes well, too.  I haven't taught SS in quite a while.  We had a SS member, a male, who was retiring from AU and wanted to teach--we thought as a sub, but he has taken full responsibility for teaching and I am no longer the teacher.  A relief in some ways, but the older members would like me to teach again--I don't think that will happen!

Jane, It's nice to have a relaxing day sometimes.  I have lots of them unless I make myself go outside and get busy!  Yuck on the snow, though.

Marilyn, you are one busy lady.  I'm sure your work with dogs is much appreciated--and I know you enjoy it!

Hi to all Buddies looking in.  I hope spring is or has come your way.  Have a great day, Every Buddy.

GinnyAnn, WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals, I am ready to go to another dr's appt--this time with my optometrist. Not sure why. In the meantime, I have tried to organize my drops and the dates started and stops. Pharmacy called and said it was too early to refill, so don't know what that is about.  I have to take one of the drops until June 22!!! The other one only 10 more days. Just now, they called back and said I had an Rx ready. I'm going to call. I have to start taking one drug again on Monday for next Thursday's surgery.  Thanks Sue for the good thoughts.

I still haven't started preparing my SS lesson but will this afternoon after my appt.  John won't be home till 6:30. I wouldn't want to teach every week but don't mind subbing occasionally.

Supposed to hit 71 today and then down in the 60's or lower next week.  Yuck.  But better than snow!
Sharon

jane

Sharon...hope the pharmacy gets the drops things straight.  It's too important for them to screw it up.  They can surely call the surgeon's office for a renewal on the 'script.

Sue...enjoy your shopping trip ...and esp. the time with Tim.

It's cold and very, very windy here....and I just got home from the grocery...not many there, which surprised me for this time on a Friday.

GinnyAnn....as Sue said...we miss you.  Please check in and let us know how you're doing.

Darlene...everything ok in S. Texas?

Joy...snow is very slow to melt here and in WI with these continued below zero temps.  Maybe that'll help with the flooding of the Mississippi River for you.

jane

GinnyAnn

Hi Buddies :)  I am starting to get back to myself after having all my teeth removed. Been gumming all my food. LOL Hungry but it is so hard to eat.  :'( Otherwise all is the same here.
Sharon I wish you well on all your procedures.
Hugs GinnyAnn

jane

HURRAH.....so glad to see you, GinnyAnn, and know you're on the road to better health.  Glad you got rid of your problems with your teeth....and can get your health back on track.

We're to have a lot of snow on Sunday Night!  I think our gals in the south are holding on to spring and not letting it come north.  We need spring! :2funny:

maryz

Hi Ginny Ann - glad to see you.  I hope getting your teeth out works as well for you as getting rid of half my toes has done for me.  Sometimes it just takes major steps.  Don't be gone so long.

Well I got rid of most of m y hair this afternoon

Ginny Ann it is so good to see you here, please don't be a stranger, we have sure missed you.

Cottoncandy

Hi Ginny...Marlyin post a picture...is it real short.?.....It was 80 degrees here today....cool front to blow in tonight....but warm temps will return next week....The guy that sprays my house fount a nest of bees...so I have someone trying to get rid of them....they are not the aggressive type...thank goodness...hello to everyone reading...have a good weekend...Darlene

Just can't believe it. Weather man now say Snow will be coming in inches this weekend. Still in the 30s today. Wind is 38 and so going down to 15 deg tonight. This winter beginning to tell on me as had to stay ondoors so much. Never thought would see any depression but I think maybe its coming. Can't get into anything. Will say sleep a lot more. House looks tidy but my sweeper been sitting out for a week . Dust forming everywhere. Need to get cleaner in soon as Spring gets here.
Only thing to cheer me up is that I met one of the men moving into the New house 2 doors from me He bought that one. He says that his mother and father have bought the one next door to me. they got at a good price by buying both. Can relax now Was one couple came to look at them 2 weeks ago with 6 children. Scared me. Never had young living by me as I am close to the frontage road that has lot traffic.
JeanneP

SharonE

Yes, Marilyn, post a pic!

Ginny Ann, I too am delighted to see your post and to know that your teeth problems are nearly over. I know you will feel better with that burden gone.

Darlene, if it is a swarm of bees without a hive, you should call an apiary and have them come get them. It's not unusual for a swarm to form after the queen bee leaves and then they go look for a new place.

Jeanne, hang in there. Surely spring is around the corner with decent weather again.  Our weather is so up and down.  We are rainy and in 50's here today but supposed to warm up next week.  Good news about your new neighbors.

I have to plan my SS lesson for tomorrow, but that's all I have on the docket. So nice not to have an appt.

Jane, I hope things warm up for you soon too.

Mary, it sounds like you are back to your regular schedule.  Are you still using a walker or a cane?

TTYL Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  It's really noon here right now, but I slept late this morning as it was dark and drizzly outside.  After I ate breakfast, I did go out on my deck and swept up the wet leaves and took them down to the curb.  AU is having their A-Day football game this afternoon and will be on our athletic channel, so I might watch that.  I went to the library yesterday after Tim, Kris, and I had lunch and picked up books to read this week.  So I will probably spend the rest of the day inside and read.

GinnyAnn, it's great to hear from you.  I hope you recover soon from all the dental work.  Come back soon to keep us posted!  BIG HUGS!

Mary, I've been meaning to ask if you have been having pain in your feet and if you need a special foot orthotic on that foot.  I hope you're feeling OK.  I think you've said you've been driving, so hope that's not giving you trouble.

Darlene, I am allergic to bees and have to call my "Bug guy" when I see any.  I keep an EPI pen here  in case I happen to be stung.  And they have to be turned back in to the pharmacy if I don't use a pen during the year.  They then give me a refill.

Marilyn, I hope you'll post a picture of your new hairdo.  It sounds pretty!

Jeanne, it sounds like you lucked out with the new neighbors.

Sharon, do I remember correctly that you are a Methodist?  My Presbyterian SS class uses a Series called the Present Word.  This spring our lessons are on the theme "Acknowledging God".  Unit 1 was in the O.T.   Unit 2 which started on Easter Sunday is "All Glory and Honor" and is from the N. T.   Unit 3 is "Give Praise to God" and returns to the O. T.   There are 2 authors of this quarter's lessons--both are Presbyterian Ministers--one is retired.

I need to fix lunch.  My plan for the afternoon is to read one of my library books I picked up yesterday after lunch with Tim and Kris.

Sue (P.S.  AU is playing their A-Day game this afternoon.  I might watch a bit of it.)

Marilyn

My new picture is now my avatar here. Very short  cut, I let my stylist do whatever she wanted to do with my hair  as long as it was must shorter since I am letting the grey grow out. I really like  what she did.

Cottoncandy

You look so different with short hair Marlyin.....looks very nice...Darlene

Sandy

I Love your new do,  Marilyn !!!
It should be easier to care for...   It looks
very nice!!

Marilyn. Looks great. Like you with short hair. Let the gray come in and see if you like it. I dont mind mine now. It is more Pepper than Salt. Always shows still black in photo's
JeanneP

Marilyn

Thank you Darlene, Sandy and Jeanne, i do love my new do. It is going to be so easy to take care of.

Sandy

Do you think that you have
a lot of grey hair???

It should be interesting as it grows out..
I did the same thing to mine when I decided to
"go au natural"   ...   it didn't take long
once most of it had been cut off.

Good luck and enjoy!

Marilyn...looks terrific!

Another cold day, with snow to come this afternoon and overnight.  😜

SharonE

Mariyn, I commented on FB how much I liked it. Very becoming.  I don't have too much gray yet and since my hair is dark blond, highlighting it blends it in and you don't notice it--
at least I don't think so.

SS went well although the scriptures were about Jesus at the sea of Galilee and telling the disciples to throw the net on the other side of the boat.  Not a lot to be mined from it, but they seemed to like what I did. I also had printed out a photo John took from the rock where it was supposed to have taken place, so that made it a little more interesting.  Our regular teacher, a retired minister, was there.  He preached at both early and late services and SS was between.  That was a little intimidating, but he was approving or at least kind.

John is still gone and playing the last games of his tournament but will be home for dinner.  I fixed a meatloaf last night as we were both ready for a good meal.  Tonight, I promised him steak although I'd rather have something else. I've done 2 loads of laundry today & probably 2 more tomorrow. No other plans though.
Hi to all.  Sharon

jane

We went with friends to a nice brunch buffet in Illinois...right across the Mississippi from Dbq.  It is kind of a Sunday after Easter tradition for us.

Our snow started about an hour ago and is to continue into tomorrow.

Jane

Marilyn

Sandy I do have some where it is growing out , maybe 3 inches  or there about. Just got tired of having it colored and having to pay so much to have it done. Short is the way it will stay now. I like  short better than longer now, it is so much easxier to care for.

maryz

Hi Gals!  We had a fantastic weekend.  First Margaret told me that Jesse had proposed to his girlfriend and she had said "Yes"!  They haven't been dating a terribly long time, but she's a really nice gal, and we like her a lot.  Wedding will probably be sometime next year - late spring/early summer.

I spent the night at Margaret's and we went to Nashville to meet up with John's great-nephew and his lady.  I don't think I had seen him since he was 14, but we recognized each other immediately.  It was such a treat to see him again and meet his lady - and get all caught up on their travels.  They're doing a long-term odyssey around the US and Canada, staying for several weeks in various places, and looking for a place to settle.  They both are entrepreneurs and work on the computer, so they can live anywhere.  They fly from place to place, staying in AirB&Bs and using Uber for transport.  Our group was Matt and Barbra, Margaret, Kate, Jean, and me - just a great meal and visiting session.

Then we went to Hendersonville (where we lived before moving here) and spent the evening, afternoon, and overnight with old and dear friends there - again, getting caught up on family doings and just generally talking the night away.

Margaret brought me home this afternoon and I'm just trying to get caught up now.  My plan is to go to swimming in the morning.

Marilyn, I love the new haircut.  It really looks great on you.  I know you'll enjoy it.

Sharon and Sue, my feet are doing great.  I carry a cane only when I'm out someplace where I'm not familiar with the terrain - just because my balance is so bad.  The girls say they can't believe how much better I'm walking.  I'm still experimenting to find out what shoes to wear.  Right now the best seems to be the very good sneaker-type shoes I've been wearing for a long time.  I probably need to get a new pair in any case.  And Crocs seem to be fairly comfortable, too. I don't need any special shoe or orthotic, and I don't need to put any padding in the toe on that side.  I'm really surprised myself.

Off to a new week - I hope everybody finally gets into some real spring weather.  We were in snow showers on Friday and Saturday, and the forecast for next Friday is 80*!

jane

Mary.....sounds as if your weekend was glorious.

Snow still here....roads are clear...just wet, but cold and pretty... but I hope it does warm up some Wed and Thurs....then to get cold again.

Going to work on cleaning out some files, today.  Usually the bank club has a professional shredder come in the summer, and we can take tubs of papers to be shredded.  I’t’s a big truck that serves banks, hospitals, etc., so you see them dump the contents of your tubs into this chute and crunch, crunch it’s gone.

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I'm dressed, showered, and ready for my ride to the dermatologist.  She'll be here in about 15 minutes, so this will be a quickie.  I'm expecting the Derm to burn off some more spots on my face, which is a pain--and I have to attend book club at 3:00 and am mentoring female athletes at 5:30--with a dinner afterwards with the other mentors.  So busy day here.  I have Circle meeting in the morning, but I'm going to skip it--my usual ride is going with someone closer to the meeting place and Tim is going to come by on Tuesday, plus I think it's time for my cleaning ladies tomorrow.  I'll get a phone reminder this afternoon.

I hope Every Buddy has a good day.  I wish our weather were nicer as I'm thinking I won't get a walk today.

Sue

SharonE

Mary, what a nice upbeat post.  Your weekend sounded like so much fun.  The news about your feet is wonderful too.  Do you wear swimshoes to swimming?  Our pools require them and I'm sure it will be more comfortable for you.  I think you and I both need some balance training.  When I get my eyes taken care of, I plan to check out Tai Chi or something to help it.  I'm glad you don't have to use a can under most circumstances.  I keep mine in the back of the car just in case I might need it, but haven't used it in months.

Marilyn, so glad you plan to keep your hair short.  It is so attractive and so much easier to care for.

Jane, do you think spring will ever come to the midwest?  We're in the upper 50's and somewhat overcast today, but forecast to upper 70's or 80 by Friday.  Yea!  We have a shredder company come here to SC every year too, but for the most part, I shred my own things.

Sue, you really are busy these days.  Have fun.

Nothing planned here today.  Hi to everyone.  Sharon

JeanneP

Marilyn. I have got my hair now the length I like and into a chin length bob. But when short I kept this site on my desktop getting some ideas how to do my hair. Mine is sort of Curly if I don't work on it to get it straighter. Only takes a minute. Maybe you can get some ideas for doing yours now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJsLC6KWmBI

It felt SO great to get in the pool this morning.  Sharon, we don't have to wear pool shoes.  I've tried them, and don't like them.  I have some plastic shoes that I wear from the dressing room into the pool area, though.  Our class is in the deep water, so the only time we touch the bottom is getting to and from the steps.

After the pool, I had my 6-month visit to the dental hygienist.  Just the cleaning - no problems - come back in six months.

I forgot to mention, I got my tax stuff mailed in last week.  I'm always so glad to get that paperwork (and checks) out of my hands for another year.  And I early-voted in our county-office party primaries here at The Terrace.  The Election Commission sends people to all the assisted living places before elections - and great service.

Happy Monday, Buddies!
