Another day of Instructor Tai Chi Class then Certification. I got to lead the class yesterday afternoon. Today I will get to lead it again the way I teach my class. I have a lady who is legally blind so I teach very slow and descriptive. It may be challenging for the group of instructors. But they will get to see what a challenge it is for a blind person to learn.

Hope you all have a great day.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've been out to SS and Church and have rice on to boil.  I have leftover eggplant/tomato, peppers casserole which I can planning to put onto the rice for my Sunday lunch.

It's raining here this morning, temperature is 54* right now at almost 12:30.  And it's still drizzling a bit of rain.  I'm planning to eat lunch, clean up the kitchen, and lie down with one of my new library books this afternoon.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.  Alpiner, it's good to see you here today.
Sue

SharonE

Alpiner, I do hope you can get off the oxygen at night. Maybe a Cpap would work, but do whatever the Dr tells you.

I have had a terrible time with some sort of allergy for the past 2 or 3 weeks off ad on.  Yesterday it was awful, sneezing and blowing regardless of taking Zyrtek and FLonase.  A little better today but not much. I did go to church and SS but didn't shake hands with anyone as I had been blowing my nose so much.

We went out to dinner at a really nice Italian restaurant last night. It was prom night and the only table they had was on the patio area, but it was a gorgeous evening and much quieter, so it was great. They only had about 3 tables out there.  I had crab stuffed ravioli in lobster sauce (to die for!), some asperagas and some buschetta and some wine.  Lovely.

This afternoon, I had to make out a new sheet of labels for John with all the info he needs to sign in. Much handier than writing.  I also had to do 2 loads of laundry and help him pack his bag.

We also had a heavy rain for a short period and supposed to get more.  Tornado alerts in the southern part of our county.  More rain expected for tonight.

Jane, I'd love to have you come here and help me clean and organize my cabinets!  It must feel good to have it done. Your beef and noodles sound delicious!

Marilyn, sounds like you have everything in line for your class.  So nice that you are able to help the blind lady.

Sue, enjoy your book.  Sharon

maryz

alpiner, I hope you can get off your oxygen at night - I'm sure it'd be more comfortable, too.

Sharon, I hope your eyes are better today.  Good luck to John in Gatlinburg.  A bunch of folks from the Bridge Center here are going, too.  I guess that's a pretty big event. Sounds like you had a delicious dinner.

jane and Sue - you're to be commended for doing such great work around your homes.

Marilyn, I know you'll be certified in no time.  Enjoy your teaching.  Will this be volunteer work? or something you get paid for?

Very quiet weekend - except for the rain.  Starting yesterday and ending about noon today, there was about 3.25" of rain at my house.  I put some coleus out yesterday to take advantage of the rain...and now they're predicting 32* for tomorrow night.  Guess I'll have to cover them up.  Oh, well.

Hope your upcoming week is a good one, Buddies!

Another quiet day here.  It’s been snowing since about 1:00am, but temps are enough above 32 that the streets are just wet and slushy.

The strong winds have finally died down, too.

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  It's chilly here again this morning with wind gusts.  I plan to work inside but would like to get outside if the wind subsides to get more leaves down to the curb.  I have one load of laundry in the dryer and one more to do.  I'm expecting Tim some time this morning.  He usually stops by for a short while just to see if I'm alive and kicking!

I hope every Buddy is feeling well today.
Sue

JeanneP

Well I thought that I was going to cheer up  some after such a rotten winter .couple of nice days came last week. I figured to now get started on some cleaning outside and in. Weekend was cold and raining . I give in. Today it is snowing. The are saying cold until Thuesday.
Strange how we with alergies are already having to treet them. Mine make me sleepy and so got a excuse to nap.
My car is in the shop seeing if they can fix the AC. Just not cooling. It needs the old type freon which is hard to come bye now. Would like to still keep the car.  I always feel worried when I can't see it in the driveway even though I would not be using it today

Hi Gals, We got rain & moderate winds yesterday afteroon till about 7 or 8:00.  Nothing like Mary's 3.25::!! Today, it is supposed to reach 50 or so, but started out at 41!  John left at 9:30.

Mary, that's nice that some of your group are going to the tournament. It is one of the biggest in this general area. John and one of the bridge players from SC share a cheap hotel almost nest to the conventio center, so it's not an expensive tournament for him. His partner hasn't been doing very well lately, so he may not have a good tournament.

Jane, you and Jeanne have had unbelievably bad springs.  I hope things change for you soon. Jeane, I hope they get your car' fixed too.

I am taking a break. I've been working on my closet.  I have 3 sections redded out. Found a couple things I had forgotten plus more that I could still wear that I had thought too small.  I did lose some weight this winter, but not nearly enough.  I have one pile of clothes to take to Lori, but they are mediums which may be too big on her. I hate to throw out clothes I really like.  I have 3 more sections to do but I'm eating lunch aad resting first.

My cleaning girl comes tomorrow AM and then I have what I think is my final ortho appt at 1:00. Wish me luck in stopping the PT exercises other than walking.  My eyes are coming along. The left still isnt as sharp as I would like without glasses which I have put away. I am wondering if my allergy is to one of the eye drops. I have put in the plain lubricating drops afterwards a couple times, and I seem better. Cross your fingers.

Hi to Darlene, Joyous, and Ginny Ann. Hope you are all doing well.  Alpiner, we will be waiting to hear what the doctor says.

Sue, too bad your weather is cool too, but I'm sure you have a book to read.. Later, Sharon

Mary for the time being It is volunteer teaching for me. I did get my certification yesterday though. right now there are 4 other classes here in North Bend, so the nurse that is in charge of handing out the grant funds, is going to check for me to  have a 5th class here, In the mean time I am to go ahead and teach, get people registered and once I get 8 people she will get the ball rolling for me.
We also got in some practice  using CPR and how to use the paddles to shock someones heart.

Edited this to make corrections.

maryz

HOORAY, MARILYN!!!   :nanadance:
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

That sounds great, Marilyn! Congrats on the certification.

I finished the clothes in my closet. Have a dufflebag packed to exploding wiwth stuff for Lori. Also a big black plastic trash bag for the needy. I am also giving my cleaning girl a chance to go through  it to see if there is anything she or her girls can use.  Feels so good to have that done.  Sandra helped me get a box of summer stuff down that I know fit and I also have another one to pull out that I think all fits.  I love clothes and have way too many of them for what I need.

I leave at 12:30 to go to my ortho appt.  Sandra leaves at 12:00.  Next time, she is bring her daughter who will do the windows while Sandra cleans.  By then, hopefully all the pollen will be gone.  My allergies seem to have cleared up somewhat. I am wonderig whether it is the eye drops.  At least I'm not blowing and seezing like I was.

Where is everyone?  John called last night and said they had snow flurries in Gatlinburg@  No points yet.

I edited the ;post above   and corrected the mistakes. Now it makes sense. LOL

SharonE

Don't worry about mistakes, Marilyn. Because of my tremor, I make a lot.

Ortho was happy with me and said no more pt exercises. Just wants me to continue to stretch my hamstring.

Stopped at car wash and did a drive through to get rid of pollen, dropped off a bunch of toothbrushes etc for the domestic abuse drive.  Then went to my neighbors and visited for about an hour. Hadn't seen or talked to them since she lost her mother at age 101!  He's suffering from knee problems ad cataracts too. Guess it's catching.

No other news here . Need to get dinner.  HOpe all are doing well.  Sharon

jane

Marilyn....congrats on the certificate.

As Jeanne said, weather has been very depressing.  Sunshine today, but only 35 and a wind that chilled to the bone.

Overnight tonight to have "wintry mix"...ice and snow and then all snow by noon and snow on until 6:00 or so.  I suppose I'll be home as will the other bridge gals.

Thursday then sunny and maybe warm up next week.  I sure hope so.

If Thursday is nice, we'll go to Cedar Rapids to get out a bit.

It is truly hard to visualize the temps y'all are having.  It is 63 @8:00 this morn

Bundle up and keep the home-fire burning.

Good morning gals...read posts...sounds like some are still having cold and snow...here it seems to go from winter to summer...no spring...80 degrees most of this week...I'm getting ready to go to my daughters for a few days...it's just a 2 hrour drive...so will check in in a few days...have a good rest of week Darlene

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've been up, showered but not yet dressed for the garden club meeting which will be here at my home at 1:30.  I still have to fix a few goodies for snacking, but am not knocking myself out on that.

It's sunny here, but still chilly--at least the last time I went outside.  I want to cut a few flowers to put on my kitchen table, but otherwise I'm mostly ready for the members to arrive about 1:30.  I am presenting a program about birding and hope members participate.  I have a 10 question quiz which I'm hoping members will respond to.  Also have a lot of bird books, some from foreign travel, and are interesting to me, but who knows what these women will think.  I haven't turned on the weather channel and don't know the outside temperature, but it feels chilly to me.  I need to go outside and cut a few flowers for my kitchen table where I'll place cookies and other snacks.

Joy, I could almost build a fire in my fireplace, but I think my guests would be too warm by 1:30 this afternoon.  I haven't looked at the weather channel to see what the afternoon will bring.

Darlene, I hope you have a safe trip to your daughters home.  I know you'll enjoy a few days with her and her family.

Jane,  I'm sorry about your continued wintry weather.  I hope spring arrives there and soon!

Sharon, I spent several hours trying to clean up pollen on my driveway and my deck out back.  I have so many oak trees and the pollen strings are everywhere!  I'll be glad when it's all gone.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

jane

Spring continues to have lost her way here.

We had freezing rain this morning and when the snow plow went down my street (a state highway), the ice flew.  I'm not venturing out to bridge, nor is Ray to swimming.  It's silly to go out in this weather, I think.

So, I rearranged and straightened up a couple more areas around here and Ray is working on cleaning out his desk drawers, etc.

I have caught up on my household bookkeeping and bill paying, so that's all good.

A quiet afternoon here...fold the laundry now in the dryer and get it put away and then read or knit the rest of the afternoon while listening to some music.  The gas stove is on and we're enjoying that.

jane

SharonE

Just a quick note. I'm leaving in 5 minutes for the luncheon Frances' daughter, Nancy , is having for some of us who helped Frances in her last years.

I've gotten some more summer clothes out, organized my meds, and of course gotten myself ready for the luncheon.  I also filled the bird bath and watered a couple flowers.  I bought a geranium yesterday to put on the patio table under the hummer feeder.  Thought it might draw some more.  Gotta go.  Sharon

I just lost my post.  I'll come back later and repost.  I need to finish my grocery list and then go shopping.

So quiet in here.  There's been nothing going on around here.  I'm so sorry for jane and Jeanne and their weather.  It got to 83*!!! here yesterday.  More seasonable today, but the a/c went back on.

There are bluebirds in both houses now, I think.  I put the mealy-worms out this afternoon, and there have been bluebirds taking advantage of it.

I hope spring gets here for everybody sometime soon.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyn

Well Mary we can't have all this quiet going on here now can we?

Yesterday and today was Furry Friend visiting days at one of the facilities and the hospital. I took Freckles to be groomed yesterday after her visit. So now she is all  nice and clean.

Keith has been working in the yard  the last couple of days doing the weeding and  mowing. It is good to see him getting some fresh air and exercise doing what he likes to do. He is still doing well and not progressing very much in the dementia. You would never know there is anything wrong with him. I notice  when he forgets where he sits at the table, or which door to get in the car. There are a lot of lost memories that I try to remind him of but he just can't remember them.

I stopped in at the Hospice Thrift Shop and saw a couple of things I would like to buy so will be going back tomorrow after T'ai Chi class and see if they are still there, some nice PJ's, a baby blue robe, and a couple of others that I want to see if they will fit me.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  It's 9:15 this morning and I have finished breakfast, but still need to clean up the kitchen.  I'm expecting Tim about 10:30 to go to the library, out to an early lunch, and then grocery shopping at Kroger.  I have a party this afternoon:  5:00 until 7:00.  Libba's son will take us and drop us off (she's had a fall and isn't driving yet) and I'm assuming he will come back and pick us up or we will get a ride home from friends at the party.  This party is sponsored by the Auburn Heritage Foundation which helps to preserve and maintain historic homes here in Auburn.

Ugh, Jane, on the freezing temps and icy streets.  Your stay at home activities sound just like the ticket for a pleasant day inside.  Don't work too hard--just enjoy the day!

Sharon, how was the luncheon yesterday?  I'm glad Frances' daughter finally recognized all the help you and other neighbors gave her.  I always thought she could have been more helpful/loving to her mother.  You certainly gave Ms. Frances a lot of your time, love, and attention.

Mary, I think our high yesterday was about 80*.  I played bridge and Ethel had her AC on, so I was glad I wore a sweater.  I don't like really cool rooms, but almost everyone else wore short sleeves or light weight tops.  I won second place--got 3 quarters which I put into my quarter jar.  We're really high stakes players here in Auburn!

Marilyn, it's good to hear that Keith is enjoying being outside and doing some yard work.  I can understand about how frustrating it might be for both of you--since my fall, my short term memory has declined and thanks to Tim, we write everything down on my calendar every week so that I can get to where I need to go.  When someone calls me to invite me somewhere, I write it on the calendar immediately.  Tim always checks my calendar on Mondays and Fridays when he stops by to check on me.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

I played bridge yesterday afternoon at Ethel's.  I had pretty good cards and good partners and won second prize--75 cents!  I put the quarters in my quarter jar as the next time I'm hostess, I'll have to give out quarters.

SharonE

Sorry I've been absent. I had an eye appt yesterday and she said everything was great and that I was seeing 20/20, however, I had to really squinnt to get that last line.  I'm still doing lots of drops which is a drag.

The party  Wed was okay but rather short in my estimation. Everything was catered in and was okay but nothing special except the desserts from a French bakery. Nancy has always thanked me for my care of Frances, but that didn't take away my disgust at her lack of attention for her.

Our SS teacher called last night and wants either John or I to teach this Sunday. It is partly on Revelations which is difficult. It think we will probably team teach it.  John has the student book with him and Bob dropped off the teacher's manual for me, so guess I'll be studlying this afternoon.

I baked cookies for Kairos, our prison ministry, this morning, but ruined part of a sheet when  the parchment slid partially off the hot cookie sheet as I was removing it.  Lost several cookies, but hopefully will have enough.

John has had a lousy tournament. His partner apparently doesn't bid well and they have only made a few points.

Nothing much else going on here.  Oh, I went to the grocery yesterday too.  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, sorry John didn't have a better tournament.  I'm always thrilled to get a fraction of a point.  ;D

Sue, congratulations on your second place.  I hope you have a good collection of quarters.

jane and Jeanne, I hope you have had some warmer weather today.

It was cooler here this morning, but has warmed up nicely.  My back has really been hurting, but I just woke up from a killer nap (2 hours!!) with the heating pad.  I hope it'll be better for a day or two.

Hope all you Buddies have a great weekend!

jane

It's a lovely day here...temps into the 60s according to the thermometer on my kitchen window shelf.

I've been finishing up laundry and cleaning the last cabinet above the basement stairs...you know the one...where the bug killer, the carpet cleaner, the mosquito and bug sprays are kept.  It's too high for me to reach beyond the front of the second shelf, so Ray helped me with that and we got down clean shelf paper and threw out a bunch of stuff and organized the rest so we can see what we have.

I need to get a walk in, too, after a brief rest.

We're not doing Friday night tonight with our friends...one has her brother and sil from PA here for a funeral tomorrow.

jane

SharonE

Jane, I'm surprised you weren't out working in the yard in the decent weather!  However cluttered areas do need to be cleaned. I cleaned my oven and my coffee maker and have been working on my lesson on Revelations.  Not a fun thing to teach.

Mary, I'm so sorry your back is bothering you.  I go in Monday morning to get my stimulator adjusted again. It's somewhat better, but still has a long way to go.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  It's almost noon here and I have accomplished very little this morning.  I had a good time at the reception/gathering at Kiesel Park in the renovated home which will now be the Heritage Association's meeting place.  Libba and her son are also members and they picked me up and brought me home.  The Association had lots of displays of historical items as well as wine and goodies for guests.  There were some auction items, but they didn't seem to be selling, so don't know how that came out.  The weather was pleasant and Libba and I sat on the large front porch most of the time.  A 5 piece band played outside and a number of tables were available for people who wanted to bring their food and drinks outside.

I had a late breakfast and then had a pretty good walk.  I'm caught up on laundry and don't have much I must do today, so will probably take one of my new library books out on my deck after lunch and read.  I really need to clean up more oak leaves!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

jane

Sharon...our yard guy is here today...raked and is now mowing, so it’s good.  We can’t do those things anymore.  While he worked, we got a mile walk in.

Sue....that sounds delightful. It is just in the 50s here and a steong enough wind to make it “nippy.”

I see the MN grandmother murderer was caught at SPI.  She was living “high on the hog” if she was eating at Sea Ranch.  It is probably one of the pricier places on the Island.

Bed changed, sheets washed and ready for linen closet, walk in so not much else planned for today.  😇

SharonE

Jane, I can relate to not being able to do things outside anymore. We have a landscaper coming by this week to pull out some dead azealas just planted last fall that didn't make it and replace with a diferent variety of azaleas that I like better.

We're home from SS & church and the 70+ luncheon.  John and I team taught our SS lesson which was on Revelations.  It went very well and everyone liked it.  So that was a relief. It's good to have John home again.

Yesterday, I cleaned my oven. I had accidentally turned on the oven with a plastic plate cover inside. It had melted all over the bottom of the oven and even caught fire.  That was about 2 yrs ago.  I had cleaned out as much plastic as I could, but was afraid to use the self cleaner. So Friday, after reading a cleaning book, I put a pan of water and a pan of amonia into a 200 degree oven, turned it off and left it over night. Yesterday, I used baking soda and ammonia and a SOS pad to scrub out as much as I could. By the time I finished, I felt I had all the plastic out, but still a lot of burned on grease I couldn't reach, so then I ran the self-clean cycle.  You wouldn't believe how beautiful it is now after I wiped it out.  I felt so virtuous. However, my back was not as happy.  Tomorrow, I go in for a reprogram of my back stimulator.

I really felt like I got a lot done this past week. Maybe John  should leave more often!!

Sue, the Heritage Museum party sounded nice. Glad you enjoyed it. Enjoy your book.

Hi to all.  Sharon
