Wow, Jane, what a trip!  Sounds wonderful.l

Mary, glad you slept well last night & still made it to swimming. A new instructor too!

Alpiner, take it easy tomorrow, but it sounds like you made a good compromise & decision.  Sorry for your loss.

Darlene, I'm getting so gray by my ears, I may have to get low lights too. I've never had them though.

Sue, it is good that I am getting more active.  The past 2 years I've been a couch potato!

Today, i worked out in the AM, came home & showered & dressed to go out to lunch with a neighbor and then back to her house to watch an Andre Rieu DVD.  He is a singer, orchestra leader, violinist that is often on PBS.  Nice afternoon.

Isn't Marilyn back yet?  I miss her posts, and Jeanette's, Joy's, and Ginny's!  Get with it girls!   Sharon

alpiner1

We will be flying to Oregon in a couple weeks for a memorial . I need to bring along my Nebulizer in case I need it .  I looked online & it says to bring it on board in a tote bag , not to pack it in suitcase , it could get lost or damaged & to bring the prescription for it . Norm says he has it some where .

SharonE

Maary, I guess it's catching.  It is 3 AM and I still haven't been asleep. Tylenol didn't help. Going to go try again now. Sharon

maryz

Sharon, hope you got back to sleep - sorry I "infected" you.  I slept hard again last night - it was actually light when I woke up (unusual for me).  But then I went back to sleep in my chair while I was reading the paper.
The cleaning lady woke me when she came in about 8.  We all need our sleep, don't we!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I slept until 8:30 this morning.  Mostly because I wanted to finish a Baldacci novel I'd started reading yesterday morning.  I finally turned my light off about 1:30 and went right to sleep, so that was good.  Sometimes I get too keyed up in the plot and keep thinking about it after the lights are out!

Sharon, you had a full day yesterday.  Your afternoon with your neighbor sounds nice.  I had a nice lunch, Kroger shopping, and library visit with Tim.  We went to Niffer's for lunch, I had a BLT and a Corona beer.  He had some other kind of sandwich and a beer--but it wasn't a Corona!  It was a nice day out.  Their dog Muffin is still hanging in despite being 13 years old and having difficulty walking.  They take turns staying home with her.  I feel really bad for them--I remember how devastated I was when Stubby died from kidney failure.

Alpiner, I hope your trip to Oregon is a good one.  I agree that you must take the Nebulizer on board.  That's something that you can't afford to lose in transit.

Mary, hurray for a good night's sleep!  We all need our "beauty rest"!  I can't say that my sleep helps my "beauty", but I'm thankful that I can sleep at least 7 1/2 hours every night.  (at least most every night.  Sometimes I get something on my mind and keep stewing over it too long!)

Have a nice day, Every Buddy!  I'm off to do a little weeding out front--before it gets too hot.  We had more rain during the night and it is still cool enough to work out there.

GinnyAnn, please check in.  I'm going to have to find your phone # and call you.  I'm worried about you!

Have a happy Saturday, Buddies.
Sue

jane

Morning, Ladies.

Sharon and Mary...hope you got the needed sleep.

Sue...be careful weeding in your heat.

Alpiner...hope your flight goes well.

We did a walk to town before it got too hot, and stopped at the cafe for breakfast.  So, we're "walked and fed" and no kitchen cleanup to do.

Our flights were fine...but ....they've seemed to make the space for legs less and less.  Tall guys are miserable.

I'm glad we're not flying anywhere else soon.

Quiet day planned here.

jane

SharonE

I slept till 8:45, but really would have liked to sleep longer.  Lori called while I was fixing breakfast, so I told her I would call her back, which I did. She was on a 3 hour road trip to a friend's and wanted to catch up.  I am now dressed and perking--sort of.  I really need 8 or 8.5 hrs sleep every night, even with my new thyroid dose.

Nothing scheduled for the day, thank goodness.  I've been busy all week.  Mary, hope you can relax today too.

Jane, you are an early bird. Nice to get a walk in the cool (but not nice enough for me to give up sleep!). I imagine Ray really does suffer on plane rides. I'm not comfortable myself, but he is so tall, it must be terribly ucomfortable.

Sue, I started reading on the couch last night and fell sound asleep until John came in to go to bed, so I got up and got ready for bed and then couldn't sleep!!  So aggravatinng. Glad you had a good day with Tim.  Sad about the dog.

Hi to all, Sharon

Marilyn

Jane if you came down the coast you passed within 2 blocks of my house.

We got home the 17th. I've been  doing a lot to get caught up and the n also a lot of walking and resting.  I am getting ready to book next year's trip to Kauai Hawaii for late june or early July. I need to get it done quick before all the condos are booked up. I also am trying to make some mmemories with Keith before he is  completely gooe with the dementia. I want to go places I have never been, Alaska is another trip that we can do just about anytime. we have friends that live there. I want to go on the  alaska cruise. I've never been on a cruise.

maryz

Good to see you back, too, Marilyn.  And glad you had a good time. You'll love Kauai - it's a beautiful island.  Soak up those memories!

BTW, jane - did you take your trip on your own, or were you with a tour?  It sounds like a whirlwind trip, and seeing lots of great things.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Marilyn, I wondered what you were up to. Your idea of making memories with Keith is a good one.. My older daughter and husband have a timeshare on Kuaii, so they have been many times. They love it.  Lately though, they have been renting it out.  We took the cruise to Alaska and enjoyed it but wished we had done the land tour also.

John took me out to eat last night which was nice and unexpected.

We've been to church & SS and I've put a load of laundry in.  I have to book John's flights to Ft. Lauderdale for his bridge cruise in Oct. Then, sometime soon, I've got to call Joc add settle on a date for me to visit them in Minneapolis in August and then book those flights.

Hot & humid here but supposed to drop to high 80's next Tues.  Not much going on here.  Hope you are all having a nice Sunday.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good afternoon, Buddies.  I've been to SS and church, back home to cook lunch--which I burned! and then had a mess to clean up in the kitchen and had to stand on my step stool to shut off the fire alarms!  Some days I should just have stayed in bed!!!!

I've cleaned up the kitchen and plan to spend the rest of the afternoon inside as it's pretty hot outside.  Tomorrow morning Tim will be here about 8:20 to take me to my GP's office for my annual physical.  I'll have blood work first , then the physical, I think.  Or maybe it will be the physical first, then the blood work.  I think I'll be one of the first patients, so maybe won't be there too very long.

Not much else to report.  I plan to lie down on my bed shortly with the Baldacci mystery I'm reading.  I think I'll finish it this afternoon if I don't doze off.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

alpiner1

I have decided to not bring the Nebulizer for the plane trip .  I will be okay with my inhalers .

jane

I'm trying to work out dates to visit my sister and her family in July.  I hope we have a time that'll work for both of us. I'm just waiting to hear from her.

Hot and humid here...Ray's been cleaning a nasty grease spill in the oven, so we can turn on the auto clean.  It was a bad one and I was afraid of the smoke and possible fire.

We went with our local travel group.  I would not have wanted to drive in Sacramento and esp. in San Francisco.

jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Alpiner, Jane, and whoever is looking in today.  Tim picked me up about 8:20 this morning for my 6 month check up with my GP.  We were seen fairly quickly, had my blood work completed and my physical and I'm good to go for another 6 months.  We also made an appointment for my mammogram on Thursday at another location.  It's a new place to me, but the same outfit that does Kris's mammos, and will eliminate my trip to Montgomery.  I should probably send a letter to the mammo clinic and my doctor's office down there to let them know I'm unable to drive down there anymore (and Tim doesn't have the time to go down there with me--it usually takes all morning!).

When he brought me home, I changed into my "work" clothes and went outside and pulled a trug full of weeds.  Still not finished out there, but it's already almost 90* and too hot to stay outside very long.

I've got laundry to do and that will probably last until lunch--after that I'll stay inside in the cool house.

Alpiner, it's good you can take your Nebulizer on the plane with you.  Enjoy your trip!

Jane, your proposed trip to visit with your sister sounds nice.  I miss my sisters and rarely see either one of them.  Anne and I do try to talk on the phone every 3 or 4 weeks--but we're both usually busy and now her husband's vision has deteriorated and she must drive him to all his medical appointments.  I have talked to Linda in June.  Her birthday was June 6 and I try to call her then and also in December.  She is busy with Kevin's family who live near her.  Her oldest grandchild, Kevin, graduated from H.S. recently.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.  Has anyone heard from GinnyAnn?
Sue

Marilyn

I go to m y eye dr tomorrow for the 6 month check up, then  on  the 3rd I see the bOrtho about my right knee, the 9th is the yearly squeeze, and the 11 is m y bone scan/ aa busy couple of week=s.

I just booked June1 to June 8  to Kauai hi next year. Woo Hoo finally going to Hawaii.

joyous

Sue:I, too, had a humialating(sp) experience  yesterday.  I put a slice of bread
in my toaster oven , went and read the paper, -----and then smoke alarm went off
up and down the hall and my room. The sitter for my neighbor came right over ,knew
exactly what to do and helped tremendously. The toast was not only burnt black but
also was in real flames in the toaster.  The sitter knew just what to do to stop the
flames, but entire apartment smelled of smoke.  She brought my oscillating fan from
bedroom and faced it to the hallway to move the smoke, etc. She was truly a
lifesaver. I guess the biggest thing was  loss of pride in doing such a  foolish thing.
JOY

SharonE

Joyous, we've all been there as far as doing silly things, but you were lucky to have the lady to help you take care of it all.

Jane, sounds like Ray is doing what I had to do a month or two ago. Ammonia is the answer! How nice thaat you are going to go visit your sister. I know you are very close.  I have to call Joc tonight to firm up my plans to visit her in Minneapolis.

Sue, it's too bad you don't get to see your sisters oftener, but if Anne's husband can't see well, she definitely can't leave him.  Maybe your other sister will come down after her grandson goes to college.

I've been to the fitness center and put in a load of laundry and helped John do some things. Now, I'm just playing.  Sandra comes tomorrow and I'm going to have her help me empty out and clean the pantry. It's been forever!

I heard this AM that Nancy, Ms Frances' daughter and husband have found the house they want in Williamsburg area and have closed on it. Now they are goig to do some personalizing of it and plan to move in mid August and put this house up for sale then.  I hope we get a nice new neighbor.

Hi to all.  Sharon

maryz

Joy and Sue, soon after I moved to the Terrace, I scorched a piece of toast in the toaster.  It set off the building smoke alarm, so that's a big deal, and every resident has to be checked, etc.  And to make it worse, it was at 6:30 a.m.  Folks were NOT happy, and I was SO embarrassed!  Haven't used the toaster since.   :D  But the alarm here has been set off by steam from somebody's shower, too.  Guess that's better than not having it sensitive enough.

I was going to go to duplicate tonight, but we've already had some lightning, thunder, and wind go through, and more in the area.  My partner and I decided to stay home.  I certainly didn't want to get caught out on the road in one of those.  They've been wicked around here the last few days.  We got an inch of rain in about 15-20 minutes in one of the yesterday.  Scary!

I hope everybody gets good reports from their various doctor visits.  They do seem to come in bunches, don't they?

Look out Sharon, these storms heading your way are scary.

I have an appt. with my cancer dr. for tomorrow . I got a call from her office today wanting to postpone it until next week , she thought I had an ultra sound on my abdomen & said the results would be in by then . But I didn't have one , huh ?  I'm keeping the appt. tomorrow to find out what is going on . I had some digestive problems but they are gone now since I stopped taking a med she had me on .

jane

Alpiner....sometimes these doc offices sure do get things goofed up.

My 94 yr old SIL in Chicago is trying to get an appt with a kidney doc, at her primary doc’s suggestion, but his office hasn’t faxed over her records and the kidney doc’s office won’t give her an appt without them.

Back up to 90s and high humidity by end of the week.

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I've got a load of wash in the dryer and need to shower and dress for bridge at the Azalea Place.  Libba will pick me up about 10:50.  We have lunch there at 11:00 and then play bridge until about 3:00.

I had a good checkup with my GP yesterday.  He ordered blood work, so I had to get a stick, but the nurse is good at that, no problems.  He's got me on a 6 month schedule now--I'm guessing because of my age and the pace maker.  Thank goodness for my insurance plus Tri-Care-for-Life that Bob paid into for me.

It's already hot and sunny and expected to be up in the mid-high 90's today.  So I'm glad to be out playing bridge.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sue

SharonE

Hi Gals.  Mary, I'm glad you decided to stay home from bridge. There were lots of storms around Charlotte and we had a lot of thunder and blowing, but I don't think we got any rain!!  We're needing it now too.  It's strange that Sun City seems to be in a little niche that all the storms avoid most of the time. Of course, I say that and we'll get a real toad strangler later this week.

Alpiner, don't you wonder if the right hand knows what the left one is doing in doctor's offices?

Jane, talking about faxing records, I need to call my primary dr and get him to fax my records to the arthritis dr. he recommended.

My cleaning gal is here and with her help, I have just finished cleaning out the pantry.  She got everything out and I organized it and she cleaned the shelves. I'm so glad to have that done.  I try to keep it neat, but the bottom and the top don't stay that way because I can't get down  or up on a stool to access them.  I just heard the dryer ding, so the sheets are dry and ready for her to put back on the bed.  It's so nice to have someone do the things I either can't or have problems with.

Sue, I hope you have a good bridge session and lunch today.  I play tomorrow.

This afternoon, I get my hair cut. I'm getting as shaggy as Bunny, so really need it.  Nothing else of interest here.

Hope everyone has a good day.  Sharon

jane

Morning, Gals...
Storms here overnight and more today, the "weatherguessers" say.  I'm hurting, but think I'll ride with Ray over to where he swims just to get out of the house a bit.

Bridge tomorrow and I'm looking forward to that.

jane

alpiner1

I had an appt. with the cancer dr. his morning .  She asked if I would like to try another medication to replace the Anastrozole  I was taking & had a bad reaction   to .  I told her I would rather not take any med & just have my regular mammograms .  The Anastrozole only gave a 10% chance of not getting cancer again .  At my age she she agreed to my choice .  This medication gave me some bad reactions . Before I started taking it a couple of my fingers would pop out of joint , after I started taking it in one afternoon it happened 4 times & was painful until I used my other hand to dislodge them !  I got very grumpy , had headaches , no appetite , heart burn , easily upset & crying & frustrated .  We agreed I would have lab work done & see her in 3 months from now on .

maryz

alpiner - Hooray! for you and your doctor making an informed decision together about your treatment.
I hope you continue you get more relief from the side effects you were having.

jane, this changeable weather is obviously really doing a number on your joints.  It's been crazy here, too.  Beautiful hot sunshine, and then, in late afternoon, a line of severe thunderstorms.

Sharon, sorry you didn't get any rain - or maybe you were lucky.  I wonder how you'll do with today's line of storms.
It roared through here in about 1.5 hours.  No severe winds at my house, but I got nearly 2" of rain in 45 minutes.  And then it was gone.  Wow!

We're still due to get temps in the mid-to-high 90s the rest of the week, with heat indexes over 100 - with humidity to match.  Yuck!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

alpiner1

My oxygen level was at 94 today , a big improvement ! I have been using a mechanism I was given while in the hospital for pneumonia in February .   I have lost a total of 13 lbs from no appetite . I have let my hair grow & Norm says I look 20 years younger ! Love that man !!  Our granddaughter had never seen me with longer hair & I sent her some pictures of when I was in my 30's . All she said was WOW !

jane

Alpiner....sounds as if you're doing great!

I'm off to bridge and looking forward to it, having missed the last two weeks due to the west coast trip.

jane

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've just come in from weeding and am H-O-T!  I'm going to read one of my library books until time to fix lunch--and if I finish it I'll probably have to re-read one of my old favorites.  My Wednesday bridge club is meeting today, but I asked Libba to sub for me as I need to get some laundry and other chores done today.  Tomorrow morning Tim is coming by to take me to a new place which is nearby for my mammogram.  I used to drive to Montgomery for that, but it takes almost an hour down and hour back.  He took me down there last time and the wait time was terrible, so we're going to try this one.  I need to write a letter to my oncologist down there and explain my situation.

Jane, I hope you get great cards and have a nice lunch with your bridge friends.  My bridge game yesterday was "almost" OK, but I didn't get many good cards and one of my partners was cranky!  I should have stayed home!  I did have a nice broiled fish and the cauliflower was OK, too, as was the ice cream for dessert.

Alpiner, it sounds like yesterday was a really good one for you.  I'm assuming you are happy with losing the 13 lbs (but watch out as you don't want to go down too far!).  How nice that your hubby AND your granddaughter were so complimentary of your longer hair!

I'm planning on a quiet rest of day inside.  Be careful of the heat--it looks like the whole U.S. is going to have a HOT ONE today!

Sue

maryz

Happy Wednesday, Buddies!  Nothing exciting going on here.  I've been to swimming, and was supposed to have my mani/pedi after that.  But my nail tech had to cancel - she was in extreme pain with a kidney stone.
Ouch!  That's something I've never experienced - and hope I never do.  Disappointing for me, of course.  :'( - worse for her.  I've rescheduled for next Tuesday.  No storms yet today - just hot, hot, hot!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Hi Gals.  I just got back from bridge and need to go to the FC to work out.  I came in 2nd in bridge, so I was happy. We bid and made 1 small slam. Usually if we make one, we haven't bid it.

Alpiner, glad you and your dr are in agreement.  So many dr's are so arrogant that they won't listen to you. My primary is pretty good too.

Jane, hope you had good cards. Sorry about the sore joints.

Mary, you were right yesterday, the storms were headed straight for us. I think we got 2" if the forecaster was accurate for us. It sure came down hard. There was some thunder but I didn't see any lightening.

We had another fire in Sun City again a couple days ago. Someone was grilling and went in to get the steaks and the propane tank blew up! The house didn't burn to the ground, but I think it is unlivable.  So sad.

I made my reservations for Minneapolis last night after talking to Jocelyne.  I will be going 8/10-13. Just a short weekend visit but long enough to spend some time with them and see the little guys.

Nothing else going on here.  I need to leave now.  Sharon
