I did get a walk in early, but it was still hot in the sun.  If you can find shade, it's great...not so in the sun.

Then I weeded some until the heat got to me.  I did spray a lot with roundup so hope that kills those buggers.

I've also got a load of laundry done, been to WalMart for my prescriptions and to Farm Fleet for some bird seed and the sweet corn farm for an ear of corn for me for tonight. I love being able to buy just one ear.

When I cool off, it's a shower and read this afternoon.

Marilyn

All y'all  Must really envy the cooler weather here on the Oregon Coast. It has rarely been in  the 70's  mostly in  the high 60's. I really like the weather here and where I lived in Northern California,

My Dr wants me to take a once a week  bone builder pill  alendronate. It doesn't sound like I am going to  be thrilled about the side effect though.

Keith had his appointment this morning, She has increased the generic Aricept to 22mgs. The PSA results were up again and he doesn't want to go back to the Urologist, said he doesn't want to know if it is cancer. the dr explained to him what   pains he would suffer it it metasized. Well that is up to him, it is not a decision I can make for him at this point even those I have the POA and could, But I can't force him to go. Craig  dosen\t agree with our DR. He told Keith he would die from something else before he died from Prostate cancer.

maryz

Marilyn, I take the once-a-week alendronate, and have for a couple of years.  I haven't had any side effects, but then I rarely have had side effects from medications.  I take mine on Sunday mornings, with lots of water, on an empty stomach.  I've been told to stay upright, i.e., not go back to bed, and to not eat anything else for 30 minutes.  I take it on Sunday because that makes it easy to remember, and is a day when that regimen works well for me.  Good luck with it.

We came in FIRST at duplicate tonight!!!!   :excited:

MARY.....HURRAH!! :hb2:

You and your partner are GOOD!!

Speaking of bridge....got quite a shock.  One of our gals died in her sleep Sunday morning.  She played with us on Wed., all was fine...in fact, several were speaking of a guy who'd just died in his sleep, and she made this comment: "That's the way to go."  And she did 4 nights later.

Today we go to DBQ to meet our Texas friends who live in the Quad Cities.  They're the ones who've had to leave TX twice now early because of Jim's health issues.  She's just graduated from knee replacement rehab, so I'm looking forward to seeing both of them.

Nice and cool here this week....70's ...which, for me, is perfect if the humidity is low, too.

Have a good Tuesday, Babes!!

SCFSue

I'm dressed and ready for bridge.  Libba who lives on the next street will pick me up about 10:50.  We eat lunch in the retirement home's dining room for visitors and residents who play with us.  The food is not great, but is edible, so easier than cooking for one's self!

Sharon and Darlene, it's good to see your posts this morning.  I guess every other Buddy is trying to stay cool!  Darlene, I'm still hoping to see some pictures from your recent wedding.  I think Bubble would post them for you.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy--and try to stay out of the heat!
Sue

My cleaning girl is here today. I stripped the bed as soon as I got out of it and put the sheets in the washer. She'll make up the bed before she leaves. I'm also going to wash some throw rugs. Other than that, not much.  We did get a little rain yesterday while I was at the FC, but not a whole lot--maybe 15 mins worth.  Lots in areas around us though and a chance for some later today.

Yes, Marilyn, we're all envying you your low temps!  This has been a really hot one here and I know the SW is awful.

Darlene, I hope you can stay out of the heat.

Mary, hurrah, another 1st place!  Congratulations.

Jane, you've already gotten a lot done.  Take care using that Round UP. There's lots of negative reports on it--altho John uses it too. That's a shocker about your bridge friend.  One of the guidance counselors I worked with way back when died that way about 5 yrs ago. Had been on a girls' trip to Branson the day before. I guess one never knows when their time will come.

Sue, hope you have a nice bridge afternoon. I play tomorrow.  Stay in in the cool everyone.  Sharon

Sue...Bubble would post some pictures for me...but I don't know how to get them to her...would have to be from my IPad or from my cell. And I'm a dummy when it comes to sharing pictures...Darlene

I had an appt. with my primary care dr. this morning , had an EKG & he said I have the heart of an athlete !  He also told me the asthma & COPD are caused from a lung depression ( I fell when I was a child & now have a crooked back & the ribs on that side are pinching my lung ) .  A friend's husband gave me some information that helped him with his COPD . I told the dr. about it & he said it was to move mucus & that isn't my problem & I would have a reaction ! I told the man I would look into it but glad I didn't try it !  This man was a smoker & finally had to give up smoking . We don't have the same health problem .

jane

Alpiner...good you checked with your doc before following that friend’s advice.

Sharon...glad your cleaning lady can help making up the bed.  A cardiologist told us women come to him when two things get to them....changing bed sheets and vacuuming.

Sue....hope bridge was good.

CC....stay cool.  Do you know how to email with an attachment?  That’s how you send pictures ito Bubble.

Had a great lunch with TX friends who live here in Iowa....they’re both doing well.  We’ll meet again in 3-4 weeks again for lunch and catching up.

Good morning, Every Buddy.  I'm still sitting here in my P.J.'s but will put on my gardening clothes shortly so that I can go outside to cut out a few more mimosa trees and then come back inside to shower and cool down.  Terri will pick me up to go to bridge at Sarah's about 12:45.  Tomorrow will be a busy day, too.  I'm taking Tim, Kris, and perhaps Ard for an early birthday supper at so far an unknown location Tim has chosen.  His birthday is Sunday and he decided he'd rather do this tomorrow.

I need to get into my work clothes and go outside to get rid of a few more mimosa trees which have drifted into my yard from the neighbors former tree.  They finally cut it down, but those suckers send out lots of mimosa blooms and seeds and cause more to grow!

Bridge was OK yesterday, but I got so so cards again and didn't win any money.  Lunch was also just OK.  Since they've changed management, I think they've had 2 or 3 different cooks and it's not terrible, but not great either!

Sharon, I hope your bridge day goes well.  I'm playing again today and Terri will pick me up and take me to Sarah's house.  This has been a busy week so far and tomorrow I'll take Tim, Kris, and probably Ard to an early supper for his birthday treat.

Darlene, I'm not sure how to e-mail pictures, either, but I think if you e-mail Bubble and ask her how to do it, she'll give you some good advice.  I am hoping to see your photos soon!

Jane, I hope all is well with you and Ray.  What fun to be able to meet with Texas friends who live in Iowa for lunch.  (and every time I remember you live in Iowa, I think of Shirley Jones and can't remember who played the lead in the Music Man!)  That is one of my favorite movies.

Alpiner, good for you for following your doctor's advice and not that of your friend!  I hope you're feeling well today.

Hi to Marilyn, and every other Buddy looking in.  GinnyAnn, I'm still looking for a post from you!

Sue

jane

Hump Day (Wednesday) greetings, Babes!

Like Sue, I'm off to bridge today.  It'll be strange not to have Marian there.

Nothing else planned.  Poor Ray has a long "HoneyDO" list....taking things to the bank for shredding by the professional shredder. [They do this for their customers once a year and so I save those papers I don't want in recycle or are too many for my little home shredder.  ], cans back to the redemption center, some caulking here, getting his registration for his scooter changed since he had it painted a different color, etc.  It should keep him out of trouble. :2funny:

Thanks, Bubble, for word on the server move.

We will be leaving for Vancouver WA. tomorrow morning. Freckles is at the groom getting beautiful for the trip up to see the kids. Not much going on here this morning although I am going to start getting things together that will be going with us. It has been in the 90's  there sxo there isn't much packing to day. Mainly getting the meds  ready and freckles thing, a change  of clothes  or two and some cosmetic thy things. It should all fit into a reusable shopping bag for me and one for Freckles. Oh and the small ice ches t for her food and lunch on the way up. I am taking up a case of Lunchables for the kids that was given to me.

SharonE

Thank you, Bubble, for your links and keeping us up to date.  I presume, the site will open with the original link?

Goodness, Marilyn, it's really gotten hot in your area.  Have a safe drive up to Vancouver tomorrow and enjoy the little ones. Give Freckles a pat for looking so pretty after her grooming!

I played bridge today too. Mostly so-so cards. My partner had a grandslam on one hand.  I had 19 pts and she only had 8, so I bid game in her suit, but the hands really meshed well.  We had a nice lunch--a shrimp salad and fresh fruit, new on the menu.

John called from the Des Moines airport to tell me he got there safely and that the plane was scheduled to leave on time.  Do you know that there was no cell service in the Hubbard area?  And since we didn't want to run up Millie's bill, we only talked once.

Sue, tell Tim "happy birthday" from all the Buddies.  Hope you have fun.  Those mimosa shoots must be a mess!  I read a good medical mystery by Palmer called RX something. I finished it last night.

Jane, it's nice to keep our hubby's out of trouble with a "to-do" list!  Hope your bridge was good in spite of missing Marian.

Alpiner, you are smart to run anyone else's medical advice by your doctor.  No one's problems are the same in spite of the general diagnosis.

It's starting to get dark, so I suppose I will lhave to drive to the airport in rush hour traffic in the rain!  Not my idea of fun. At least we will eat out on the way home.  Sharon

Marilyn

Sherry that 90° weather is in Vancouver Not here. LOL  I don't care for HOT weather  sever since I left  the desert and didn't like it there either. 120° in the shade the day I left July 12, 2003.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I am one hot sweaty mess as I've spent the last 45 minutes cutting out mimosa trees in my front yard--and am still not finished.  And despite the work this morning, more will be coming up soon.  Those things are voracious!

I had a phone call from some women in Hampton, NY, while I was eating my breakfast.  They asked me to donate to their Breast Cancer fund--I'm sure they got my name from the Susan G. Komen fund which I do donate to as well as my local breast association, but I am very irritated that these organizations share names all over the country.  I'm pretty sure the residents of Hampton, NY, are probably much more affluent that I am!  I worry that it could be a scam and prefer to donate here.  Do you get any of these calls?

I am taking Tim, Kris, and maybe Ard out for dinner early this evening.  I don't know where we're going as Tim has chosen and will pick me up.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy, and try to stay cool!
Sue

maryz

Sue, I NEVER donate to anybody who calls on the phone.  And usually I don't even answer the phone if I don't recognize the caller or number.  I usually only donate to a few local charities (Food Bank, women's shelter, community kitchen, etc.).  I know then that my money is staying locally.

Safe travels, Marilyn.

Sharon, I hope John is home safely and that all is well with his sisters.

Darlene, glad you've "cooled off" a little bit - it's been awful in the SW.

I ran some errands this morning (hair cut, Walmart pickup, filled up the tank), and will play some bridge here tonight.  But that's it for the day.  BTW, I've started taking CBD (hemp) oil to see if it helps my arthritis pain.
I've checked with my family doc and she says folks have been having some great results from it.  I'm going to give it a try and see what happens.

Happy almost weekend, Buddies!

Mary, John got home safely and we went out to eat on the way home. We planned on going to Ruby Tuesday's and discovered that they are permanently c losed!  Anyway, there was another place we go that was on the way home and I had some of the best grilled salmon I ever had.

His sister is in a tiny apartment, but enough for just her. Her husband's nursing home is very nice, clean and friendly.  Millie is lonely of course, but otherwise okay, I guess. The other sister seemed to be handling her new widowhood pretty well. She certainly knew it was coming soon. Lori & Melanie went up to Millie's former home to go through things and see if there was anything the family would want before it was all cleaned out. They are putting the house up for sale as soon as everything is taken out. Millie is pretty upset about never seeing it again, but it would just make things worse.

I was lucky on the drive to the airport--no rain and moderate traffic.  It did take me a full hour to get there though.

Marilyn, I wondered when you said 90 degrees!  I would love to live somewhere where it was in the 70's yr around, but don't want to move to the west coast with all the family here. Our winters are pretty mild, but summers are HOT!

Sue, could you use a Round-up bar on the mimmosa.  You are killing yourself trying to get all those out.

Mary, good luck at bridge tonight.  Good you got all your errands done. Tell me how that CMB oil works. I don't think it is legal here, but is in NC.

I need to go to the grocery ad the FC, but John keeps coming up with stuff for me to do.  I may send him back to Iowa!  :D  Sharon

maryz

Sharon, the CBD oil is not considered "medical marijuana".  That's not legal in TN.  There is no THC (the stuff that makes you high) in it. It can be bought at Nutrition World locally, but I ordered it from Amazon. But I'll keep y'all posted on how it goes. This is a liquid that is squirted from a dropper under your tongue.  It's lightly flavored with peppermint, so is not a bad taste.

Good morning, Buddies.  I'm dressed and ready for Kroger shopping, library, and lunch as Tim is coming over early.  I have a funeral at 2:00--longtime friend, Nancy, who has been living with her daughter in some northern state--Wisconsin, I think.  She died earlier this summer and was cremated and a memorial service will be held at our church this afternoon at 2:00.  When I first moved here, Bonney, Minnie, Nancy, and I ate supper at our favorite pizza place and then took turns hosting an evening of bridge.  We continued this until Nancy's daughter moved to Wisconsin and insisted that Nancy go with her.  We continued to exchange e-mails until Nancy was no longer able to do that.

We had a nice birthday dinner at Olive Garden last night.  I ordered Eggplant parmesan with spaghetti on the side and brought the spaghetti home which I'll probably eat this evening.

Mary, I hope the CBD oil works for you.  Let us know how it goes--although I don't think Alabama is selling it.  And yes, it does aggravate me that a "group" in NY State had my phone number which was probably on the Susan Komen list.  I don't think those groups should share their lists!

Sharon, I'm glad John is home safely and was able to help his sisters deal with their problems.  It's good that Lori and Melanie could help go through things and get it ready for sale.  I can understand Millie being upset about missing her longtime home, but it can't be helped, so it's good the girls were able to help out.

Not much else to report except it's already HOT!

Have a nice day, Buddies.
Sue

SharonE

Thanks, Sue.  After John got home and we discussed things, John and I started wondering if we needed a legal document that would turn Milly's care  and fiances over to us in case of an accident or sudden illness for her, so that's still in the idea stage.  Always something. Glad you had a good dinner for Tim's birthday and hope you have a nice outing today.

I ran oout of steam after going to the grocery yesterday and taking care of stuff for John, so I didn't get to the FC.  Today, Fedex was going to deliver a pkg that needed a signature, so I left for the FC at 9 AM!  And you know how much I loved that!  Anyway, I did get my workout in and was back home before John had to leave.  Fedex came about an hour later, so I could've gone this afternoon, but there was no way of knowing. I put in a load of laundry yesterday and may put in another today. I also wrote some articles for the papers for church.

It's back in the 90's here and no rain predicted till Sat. night.  I hope you all are staying cool.  Brian and Traecy sstill don't have AC. Melanie amd Lori completed their missions yesterday and brought back two boxes of memorabilia including a huge old family Bible! All the news here. Hi to everyone. I saw on FB that Marilyn & K arrived safely in Vancouver, so that's good.  Sharon

jane

Trying again to post.  Keep getting database errors.

maryz

Like you say, Sharon, it's always something to worry about.  Glad the girls were on-site to work on clearing out the house and distributing memorabilia.

jane, sorry you're having computer problems.

Sue, at least your yard work keeps you out and getting exercise.  Be careful about the heat, though - and about not falling.

I played bridge with the foursome here at the Terrace Thursday night.  That's mostly just fun and laughing - not much serious bridge.  At duplicate yesterday afternoon, I had terrible cards, mostly just 5-7 points, but of course, everybody else sitting north had those hands, too.  In any case, we finished in the middle, as usual. Nothing unusual planned for the weekend - just knitting and probably some BookTV.

Happy Weekend, Buddies - and Stay Cool!

what are you knitting, Mary?

SCFSue

Good morning, Jane, Mary, and Bubble and whoever else might be looking in.

I am a sweaty mess.  I have just come back inside from another weed pulling expedition.  It is almost 9:40 and I am going to sit down and read until I cool off.  We're expecting temperatures in the mid-high 90's today and probably no rain.  I have many more weeds to pull and I'm sure my neighbors with pristine yards (and yard men who tend their properties) are tired of looking at my weeds.   If we do get a little rain today, I may go outside after it's over and pull another trug of weeds.

My plan for the rest of today includes some laundry and reading.  Have a nice day, Every Buddy!  And a special shout out to you, Bubble!

Sue

Here in Chicago area...cool, which is delightful.

Trying to see if this will post.

Jane

Bubble, I always have socks on the needles.  I'm also currently working on knitting things for toddlers (6-12-18 months), trying to use up my yarn stash.  I don't have any great-grandkids yet, but I assume I will some day, so I'm working on a supply of goodies for them - whether I'm here to see them or not.   ;)  What are you knitting on? (or crocheting?)
