Right now booties.  It is too hot to have big projects.  My half done winter afghan is waiting for next winter!

I wish I knew how to knit....Darlene

so_P_bubble

It is never to late to learn.  Crochet is easier to do: no dropping of stitches.

maryz

Darlene, check with a senior center in your area.  There might be someone who would be willing to teach you.  Or ask at your church.

There are knitting tutorials online . Here is one .  I don't knit , I crochet .  Like bubble said no dropped stitches with crochet .

Thanks....may try it Darlene

I am so anxious to get home.  I cannot take all this family drama.

maryz

Sorry, jane - always makes for "tough stuff".

I knit, but don't crochet--just never could get the hang of it!  I knit sweaters for the boys when they were little, but when they got to sweat shirt age, they wouldn't wear one of my sweaters.  They'd say, "Mom, nobody wears home made sweaters!"  So I quit knitting except for baby blankets.  I gave them to friends and donated them to church projects.

Jane, I'm sorry things haven't been happy and hope your trip home is safe and SOON!  Let us know when you get home.

Darlene, I agree with Alpiner and Mary.  I'll bet you even might know someone who knits (although it's probably pretty warm where you live year round!).  I started knitting the first time we lived in Maine as we needed warm socks and sweaters at least 8 months of the year up there.

I've seen Mary knit and she can do it with her eyes closed!  I envy her that skill--I have to watch what I'm doing.

Not much else to report except that it's going to be much hotter this afternoon--so I'm going to skip yard work and stay inside and read most of the day.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy!
Sue

SharonE

Sorry Jane for the family drama.  Know what you mean, but grin and bear it.

I don't know how to knit or crochet. One friend tried to teach me crochet, but she was OCD and everything was supposed to be perfect from the git go! Mom learned to crochet after she retired. Not sure how though. Made lots of afghans, but she was always good with handwork.  I used to be, but now with my tremor, all of that has gone by the wayside.

We're back from church. Had a visiting speaker who teaches in Morocco with his wife and tries to spread the word, but inconspicuously as that is illegal there.  Interesting talk.

I have a load of laundry in, did one yesterday too, and still have one more to go.  With John's trip and the hot weather, it is all off schedule. I downloaded all of John's pictures from the trip and am going to try to make a Shutterfly booklet for each of his sisters.  His trip went well and he was pleased with the care both Millie and her husband are receiving.

I was awake till 3:00 and then had to get up at 8:30, so am dragging now.  Hope everyone is having a good day.  Sharon

Sue, just saw your post.  I used to sew dresses and playsets for the girls when they were little and occasionally a dress for me, but when I went back to teaching, I just didn't have time and the girls didn't care.  Melanie learned to be a good seamstress, even took a class in tailoring in HS and then made some things for her daughter, but work intervened for her too.  Enjoy your book.  I just started a James Patterson book last night. Can't remember the name though. I have generally avoided his books because of the violence and gore, but John says he thinks I will like this one.  S

Good morning, Buddies.  I am wringing wet as I just spent 45 minutes pulling weeds in the space between my yard and my next door neighbors.  They pay a yard service to cut their grass and trim, but the yard men only go halfway between their yard and mine.  Needless to say I only got about half of what they left and will need to go out there again tomorrow morning.  It's just too hot to stay out there long enough to get it all done.

Not much else to report.  I'm planning to shower as soon as I cool down and need to wash my hair again, although I washed it yesterday.  I am a sweaty mess!  I hope Jane and Ray are safely at home now.

Sue

jane

Yes, we got home safely.  I'm glad to be out of that "drama"....all of two girls involved own making, so there's not a lot of sympathy from Aunt Jane!

It's cool in the shade here, but I tried to walk and only got a short distance when my hip and the heat in the sun said, "ENOUGH"....so here I am back home.  Laundry is in, and I'm off to the grocery and WalMart for a prescription refill on my allergy spray.

I, too, knit but never got the hang of crochet.  Luckily, our local gal who does the trips is an expert, and I started with lessons from her.  I'd knit years ago, but forgot a lot.  Then we had a group of knitters who met at the yarn shop we had for about 7 years, but she had to close the shop, and the group disbanded.

Guess I better check my online banking stuff and then get to the stores before it gets any hotter.

jane

SharonE

Hi Gals.  Glad you're home and away from the drama, Jane.

Sue, can't you say something to your neighbors about how the cutting is being done?

Yesterday, I finished up the laundry and also went through all of John's photos with him, cropping and enhancing.  Now I need to go to Shutterfly and get started on the booklets. However, that's not for right now.  I need to go to the FC and type up and send the church articles in for the month of August.  When the newsletter comes out the first of the month, I go through it and choose the things I think need to be sent in. Since I got the newsletter yesterday, I need to work on it today to meet the deadlines.  I send the articles to 3 different papers--1 is a weekly here in Indian Land, 1 is a weekly for Fort Mill, and 1 is a online Fort Mill paper.  I don't know how much good it does, but it does get our churches activities viewed by those in the areas.  I've had several people comment on the fact that we're getting much more coverage these days and most of them don't even know I'm the one who is doing it.

It is very overcast and we are to have 50-70% chance of rain all week, usually late afternoon or evening.  We didn't get any over the weekend.

I hope you are all staying cool and having a good day.  Sharon

JeanneP

Jane.  Are you now getting the cold days . we are. Feels so good but back to 90 again Wed.
I must have missed reading what family problem was. Glad you got away from it.  I had it with my family 3 years ago. Still not fixed but I no longer get into it. They are not youngsters now...
I need to finish some crochet that I put down 2 years ago. I did so much that my thumbs gave out. Same with bowling. They seem better now. Use to knit but crochet faster
I have done nothing all year so far. Got to get my bucket list out again. Think I have all my Estate . Will and stuff now finished. Have to now put file in order . put things away and forget about it. Was a mess to do. Sure expensive attorneys these days. should have done it years ago.
Wish I had Sue as my next door. You seem to love yard work. I hate it. All my bushes need cutting. (usually in Oct.). Weeds have taken over. My yard man now 87 and can only do grass on his riding. Glad still have him. He has just stuck to a couple of us women and his own.
Sharon. You seem to keeping busy. Hope your meds working right now. Glad to see your little dog still with you. Its a fighter. Hi to all others in this forum....Keep healthy
JeanneP

jane

Yes, Jeanne, these cooler days have been wonderful.  Back to 90s tomorrow, too.

I have a follow up with my ARNP this morning.  I suppose another blood test to see where the SED and CRP are now.

This afternoon is a haircut, and that is my day.  Bridge is tomorrow.

Jane

maryz

Sounds like  relatively easy day for you, jane.  Hope your lab numbers are good.

Always good to hear from you, Jeanne.  Glad you've gotten your papers in order.

We came in just out of master-point range at duplicate last night, but pretty good overall.  Nothing going on today.
It's supposed to be rainy for the next several days.  So far, it's just been cloudy.  I hope we get some good rains, though.  They're needed.

Other than going to the Menu Planning meeting this afternoon, it's a slug day for me.   :)
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Jeanne, good to see your post and to know you have all your wills, etc in order.  Yes, I'm doing better. I still have to take a Tramadol before I do anything that requires me to walk or be on my feet much, but afraid that's a permanent thing.  Bunny IS a fighter. She's on prednisone right now for her liver which makes her ravenous, but otherwise she seems fine.  We just enjoy having her with us as long as we can though.

Jane, glad you got a break in the weather but sorry it's going back up to 90.  Good luck on your lab tests.

I got in my workout yesterday and got all the church info sent in to the papers. The first of the month, there's always a lot, especially with school starting up soon--lots of last minute activities.

Mary, sounds like you're still doing well in bridge. I wish I enjoyed duplicate more, but the people I have played it with just take it too seriously, so I'll stay with social bridge for fun.

I'm going to work on the Shutterfly booklets for the sil's today + deal with some business stuff.  Nothing big time.

Very cloudy and good chance of rain today and the next two.  Sharon

So cold here today and wet. Feels like could turn heat on in house but not going to do it. I do have a sweater on. Tomorrow back to 89 and humid they say.
Been crazy weather for spring and summer and so suppose Fall will be different also.  Makes one wonder what Winter will bring.
Sure wish all the rain we have had could have been in the parts of the West where those fires still raging. Awful to watch and so many beautiful home gone.
To the West of me I have a 10 acre that now remains looking like a forest. Deep growth. Over the years we had a couple of homeless camp in the middle of it. Cant see from the frontage road. I think someone called police and they had them move on couple years ago.  Now I notice one man who  has a old bike has moved in. Saw him bringing all his baggage. I am the only one who can spot him. Now I don't care. but when watch the fires I just hope he doesn't make a fire in there as so many more bushes and trees and weather has been so hot. I doubt he will because smoke would be seen. We get so many homeless around here but many places feed them and can go in out of the heat. Still some like to be off by themselves private. Good to just leave them to it.. I have given my SIL sweaters,Jackets etc in the winter time to one who was here for years.  He died last fall and the people in town still miss him. He did have a family around here . Father was a doctor at the big clinic. They just could not change him. Did have the Police and others keep a watch for him.  He was so well educated and such a gentlemen if you could get him to talk. Was a Vietnam they say.

Good morning, Buddies.  My cleaning ladies were here this morning--changed my sheets, damp mopped all the floors and dusted furniture--all very quickly.  The two of them have it down to a science as they usually do 4 or 5 more homes than mine on my cleaning day.

I still have to go outside and do some more weeding--I hope to finish that shortly and plan to spend the rest of the day inside as we're having another scorcher today!  It will probably get up into the mid to high 90's today unless we get some rain this afternoon.

Jane, you have my sympathy for having to listen to squabbling while on your family vacation.  Several years ago I visited Anne and Richard and Anne's youngest daughter and her husband were there.  The husband and Anne had certain differences about his and her daughter's business and all of the rest of us were very uncomfortable!  My grandmother taught us to keep our family squabbles inside the family and we had very few of them.  I hope your blood tests go well.

Jeanne, it's good to see you back.  It's been quite a while and I wondered if you were traveling and hoping you were not ill.  Tim and I visited a new lawyer--a female--last summer who helped me put my estate in order and that was a big relief.  All 3 sons will share equally and if my youngest son dies before me, his sons will receive his share.  Bill and Tim have no children of their own, although Bill has raised his step-son since he was about 4 years old.  I don't know what Bill has planned for Andy, his step-son--but I think if Bill dies first, Andy  will inherit his share from his mother.  Jon's share will go to Alex and Nic.

Enough gruesome talk!  I have done a little weeding since the cleaning ladies left and I have a huge patch of tall grass between my house and the neighbors.  So I'm going outside now to get it cleaned up.  Then I'll knock off ship's work and start another library book.  I finished the Lee Child "Reacher" mystery that I started yesterday.  I have 2 Baldacci's left and will start one after lunch.

Sharon, you have a busy day planned, too.  Have a good one!

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Sharon, when we first tried duplicate, maybe 40-45 years ago, we quit because the people were so unpleasant.  And folks at the Bridge Center in the upper echelons are quite competitive.  But the times I play are groups with small amounts of MPs, and while playing well and being competitive, they're still learning.  Also, there are lots of signs around saying "Be Nice" or things like that.  I know on other days, there have been times when the director has had to chastise someone for being ugly.  So in my "under 99 MP" group and "under 299" group, folks are all very nice.  And my partner and I have about the same amount of competitiveness, so that works, too.
I understand what you're saying, though.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

I cannot seem to post if I have apostrophes in my words.

My blood test still shows inflammation.  It is down from 93 but now 71.  Normal on the report is 0-20.  Nurse for my ARNP says it will be sent to CR where I see ARNP in rheumatology in 3 weeks.

Off to bridge. I hope this posts.

SharonE

Mary, I like most of the duplicate players I've met outside of bridge, but they are too competitive at the table.

Sue, you certainly do do a lot of yard work.  Outside of flowers, I never have. Yes, I was very busy yesterday. I had an awful time getting on the Shutterfly site because I had changed emails and so had John. I was on the phone twice to customer care. The first guy took so long between things that I was on for over an hour and then the temp PW wouldn't work. I called back and got someone else and she told me to shut down the Shutterfly site completely and start over. Then it worked and I did get the booklets made for the sil's.  I had at least 3 business calls to make yesterday and had to leave a message at each and still haven't heard back!  Grrrr!  I was fit to be tied by the time John got home.

Today will be easier. I'm going to the FC and then I will retry the phone calls.

Jeanne, I hope the homeless man who is camping out behind you is just looking for peace and quiet.  I have never been in an area with any although I donate to charities that care for them.  Good that the big group is gone from your woods.

The landscapers just finished mowing our yard.  So nice to have that done as part of our HOA fees.

We never did get much rain yesterday--at least to my knowledge, but the weather map last night looked like we were going to get a lot today. I hope so. We need it.

Jane, I'm glad the inflammation is down some, but it sounds like you still have a ways to go.  Have a good bridge game.

Have a nice day, everyone.  Sharon

SCFSue

Sharon, you must have been writing while I posted.  I'm having a big problem with my Bellsouth ATT account.  They are changing all their rules and I don't know what to do.  I have some of my financial e-mail accounts on that account and I guess Tim will have to help me change that.  I don't want more people/accounts seeing that kind of business.  BTW, we got lots of rain last night and more is expected today.  This is the wettest summer we've had since we moved to the farm in 1979!

Sue

jane

The high heat and humidity is to return tomorrow for a stay.  UGH!  So, we're going to go to CR today and then our Friday night out with friends has been changed to tonight.  So tomorrow will be a free day all day long.

This RA or whatever it is flareup continues...it's going to be a long three weeks, though I don't honestly hold out much promise for relief even after seeing the rheumatologist.  Enough whining from me.

jane

maryz

jane, sorry about your returning heat and your possible RA.  I hope you can get some relief.  When you see the doc, ask what he/she recommends about the CBD oil.  I've only been taking it for 8 days, but I may be seeing some good effect from it.  That may just be my imagination, of course.  Time will tell.

Our high temperature set a new record for the date - it only got up to 70*!  Of course, it was cloudy and rainy all day.  It was lovely!  I've had about 1.75" of rain over the last couple of days.  My deck flowers are loving it.  I put a couple of house plants out, too, and they're very happy.

Happy Thursday, Buddies!

Good morning, Jane and Mary and whoever is looking in now.  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, showered and dressed for bridge and have a load of wash in the washer which I will soon put into the dryer and hope they are dry and put away before my ride comes to take me to bridge at Bonney's.  When I called Olyne to see if she could pick me up, she told me she's already taking 3 subs--but can squeeze me in!

Mary, it's cooler here, too.  We had lots of rain late yesterday afternoon and even into the night.  I'm glad you got some rain, too.  Remind me again what the CBD oil is made of?  It's great if it's giving you some pain relief!

I need to poke around in the kitchen and make a sandwich.  Bonney will probably serve dessert sometime during the bridge game.

Jane, I'm sorry about the flare up and hope the rheumatologist  can get to you more quickly.  It's tough to have constant pain and nothing to do about it.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the rheumatologist  will have a cancelation soon and will call you in.

Have a good day, Every Buddy, and check in and let us know how you're doing!
Sue

Sue, CBD oil is "cannabidiod oil" or hemp oil.  It's a marijuana relative, without any of the THC component (which is what gives one the "high" from marijuana).  It's not considered "medical marijuana" and is available from health food stores and Amazon.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

SharonE

Sue, I don't know what your AT & T provider has to do with your finances. Are you sure you're understanding it well.. In any case, Tim will.  We acttually had quite a bit of rain yesterday and last night.  Supposed to get more tonight.  Hope your bridge is good.

Jane, I am so sorry you are still flaring with your RA. I'm thankful that my arthritis is OA, but there doesn't seem much that can be done for it--unless Mary's CBD oil works.  I'm anxious to see how it works in a month or 2 and plan to ask my doctor about it.  Both of my girls have recommended it, but I thought it was illegal here.  Maybe not. Have fun tonight and enjoy doing nothing tomorrow!!

Mary, keep us posted on the oil. Wouldn't it be wonderful if it worked for all of us with OA and maybe even Jane's RA.  Glad your flowers are all happy. Mine are too.  We have 3 hummer feeders up and they are all being kept busy--the most I've seen in several years.

I went to the library to get a book for Book Club, then I went to get my toenails painted, then on to the grocery.  I had a lot os stuff to buy and had to retrace my steps several times because I forgot something.  Consequently, I'm wiped out now.  All for now.  Sharon

Just a quick note..my niece is taking the CBC oil for RA..she said it really helped her...having family reunion this week end so got to get busy...Darlene

Glad to hear that report from your sister, Darlene - and glad it's working for her.

Sharon, why don't you ride one of the carts when you got to the grocery store?  I've used one for about five years (but now I order everything on line, and just pick it up outside the store).
