It was pretty cool for us yesterday (70's) but to be 80 today. Enough already! My SIL in Hubbard, Iowa said she had snow. Jane, do you? Hard to believe for us.

John's birthday went well yesterday, but my back was giving me lots of problems by the time I got the big dinner on the table and things ready for our neighbors to come over for cheesecake, which was wonderful! And I'm not a big cheesecake fan.

My cleaning gal is here and when she leaves I have to drop off cleaning and go to Ft. Mill to pick up my new reading glasses.

Hi Mary. Ugh on the spider. I do hope the PT will help you.

The landscaper called and won't be here for a couple days due to all the rain that put him behind.

No other plans today. Hi to all.  Sharon

jane

Sharon... Weather reports said we had snow, but I didn’t see it.  There was accumulating snow in Waterloo...45 miles west of me.

Mary...Ray’s been going to PT weekly for balance, and he says it’s helped.  I hope it does for you, too.  It took several sessions before he seemed to notice the help.

Good morning, Buddies.  It is cooler here and I already have a sweat shirt on with old slacks. I'll work in the yard again this morning, but I think I have most of the downed limbs at the curb.  My trash men should be here soon to pick up the piles I put down there after the storm here over the weekend.

I'm expecting Tim to come by briefly for his Monday a.m. "Mom" check.  We had a good trip to the library, Kroger, and out to lunch on Friday.  Kris went somewhere with her Mom, so she didn't eat with us Friday.  I need to call my ophthalmologist's office this morning as I've had a phone call from a Village Friend who called  and told me she'd pick me up on Wednesday, but I called the Ophthalmologists office and my appointment is at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday.  So now I have a request in for a driver on Thursday about 8:45.

Tim has been here and pruned one of my large shrubs, cleaned the leaves and limbs off my roof, checked my meds, and we had time for a chat, too.  I'll see him again on Friday for the usual errands.

I have more limbs to tote down to the curb, but there is no hurry as the trash pick up has already been here this morning.  I'm going to be like "The Little Red Hen" and "do it myself!"

I have several loads of laundry to do this morning, so need to get into the laundry room and get started.  Have a nice day Every Buddy.  We're going to have high temps in the 80's today if it doesn't rain again.

Beautiful day here on Orewgon's southern coast. Supposed to be up to 73° today. We are sure havingn nice weather here.

Hi buddies...it's 45 here and rain.....we are flooded in again...glad I prepared...Jane when do you come to Texas....Texas weather is so unpredictable...Hi to Sue..Marlyin..Sharon and all the rest..Darlene

Good morning, Buddies.  I've read the paper and started on some paper work I need to get out of the way today.  I'm still not dressed, but plan to get dressed shortly and start on the paper work.  I started a Nora Roberts novel yesterday (a new one to me from the library) but I've decided not to read it.  Just too much like every other Nora Roberts I've read over the years.  I have 3 more library books waiting and will start one after lunch.

We're supposed to have a sunny day with temps hitting 80* at least, so it'll be nice here.  Not much else going on here today.  I hope Every Buddy has a nice day.

Hi Gals.  I was told to change settings on my stimulator till I go in tomorrow---Big mistake. I have been in such pain, and all the work I did Sunday made me really tired yesterday. However, I promised a neighbor I would go with her to the Women's Fellowship Mtg that was cancelled last week because of the storm. I had to take something, so made a batch of lemon bars (mix).  Those are all cut and on the plate and ready to go and I have an hour until she picks me up.

John has practically "OD'ed" on the cheesecake. He loved it.  It was good & there is still half left.

Our neighbor got through his double knee surgery yesterday okay.  John is going to the hospital to pick up his wife about 5:00. She doesn't drive, so several people are helping her out getting to and from.

It's to be high 70's and sunny today.  Landscaper didn't come yesterday because he was so far behind due to the storm.  He should come tomorrow or Thursday.

Darlene, sorry to hear about your floods. Hope they aren't damaging anything of yours.

Jane, sounds like you were lucky with the snow.

Sue, you are so blessed with Tim doing all he does for you.  You certainly do a lot on your own too. Glad you're getting most of the storm stuff cleared up.

Hi to Mary and Marilyn, Joy & Ginny Ann.   Sharon

maryz

Sharon, sorry your pain has ramped up.  Hope the doc resets your stimulator when you see him.  How did John do bridge-wise on the cruise?

Sue, hope your paperwork goes well.

Darlene, stay safe.

Marilyn, glad you're getting some lovely weather out there in your neck of the woods.

jane and Jeanne, hope your weather has stabilized some.  The ups and downs make body parts SO creaky.

Bridge last night was awful.  My partner and I were just not on the same wave-length, and we came in a bad last out of 8 pairs.  I'll hope for better things next week.

The Election Commission came to the Terrace this morning, so I've gotten to vote in the midterms.
Now they can please stop all the nasty political ads on my TV.  Yeah, right!!  >:(

Happy Tuesday, Buddies !
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Like that about the political ads.  And to add to the irritation, all the ads we see are for NORTH Carolina!  Sorry about your bridge game.  John got 15 pts but he was playing with a pick-up partner who wasn't too strong. His friend, Carmina got 40 pts!!  But she was playing with her regular partner.

Just got back from the Women's Christian Fellowship luncheon and speaker. She spoke on our perception of identity and how it was not related to our roles such as Mom, Teacher, etc, but rather that all of us should feel priceless because we are children of God.  Whenever we are feeling like a failure at something, we should remind ourselves of that--if you are a Believer.  This was all under the title of "Who Am I?"   She was a good speaker as well.  I enjoyed the afternoon.

Morning, Ladies!

Bridge today on a sunny, clear day...to warm to 50s, they say.

Have a great Wednesday.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I need to get dressed and do a few chores in the kitchen.  I do have my bed made but am just slow in getting started.  I have to admit I'm not much of a morning person, although I find myself waking up earlier these days.

I have a busy day tomorrow.  A "Village Friend" will pick me up about 8:45 to take me to my annual appointment with my ophthalmologist.  That hopefully will take no longer than an hour as I have a bridge date at 11:00 with my Thursday club at Chik'n Salad Chik.  This is a restaurant that specializes in chicken salad and has sandwiches, plates of chicken salad, and on and on.  I'm hoping my eye doctor has me out of his office in an hour.

I'll do a little more yard clean up this morning and probably read another library book this afternoon--or at least start reading one.

I hope you all have a good day!
Sue

A lovely day here today, too.  And nothing on my schedule.  I only have to leave home (my apartment) to go to the dining room for lunch and dinner.  Lots of reading and knitting to be done.

Happy Wednesday!

Glad everyone has nice fall weather today.

Jane, have fun and hopefully good cards at bridge.

Sue, sounds like you have an easy day today.  Mary, you too!

I had my big squeeze this morning, then shopped at Target, grabbed a sandwich, and then went to the pain dr to have my back tweaked again. I hope we got it right this time.  I'm tired now.  Leftovers for dinner.

Hi to all. Sharon

Good morning, Every Buddy!  And a very Happy Birthday to you, Sharon!  Dare I ask "How many are you?"  Just kidding!  I hope you have a lovely day and that you hear from all your children, too.

I am dressed and ready to go to my annual visit with my Ophthalmologist this morning.  I'm expecting a volunteer driver to pick me up in about 45 minutes.  Then at 11:00 I'm meeting other bridge players at Chik'n Salad Chik for lunch and then we'll play bridge there after our lunch.

I hope all are well and happy today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHARON!!!

I went to a new dentist today.  My long-time regular dentist had said I needed a crown on the back right upper molar.  I really didn't want to do that, and was opting for extraction.  I had to go elsewhere for that, so went to a new office for that.  That young, very new dentist said I could make do with a replacement filling, and that would work.  I let him know that, although I wasn't planning to check out any time soon, I didn't think I needed anything that lasted for many years.  ;)  Anyway, we agreed to go the route of the filling, and that's scheduled for 10-30.  If that eventually fails, I'll just have the tooth removed.  And I finished my morning out by picking up my order at Walmart.  All VERY exciting!

Hugs, Buddies!

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. So far, I've celebrated by sleeping in till 9:00. I was so tired after yesterday. Melanie has already called me as she was en route to Minneapolis for Liam's first birthday. Hard to believe.

John has suggested we go to the movies to see "One Man" about Neil Armstrong. Don't know if we will go today or put it off till the weekend. I would really rather stay home today.

Landscaper still not here!

Mary, that sounds like a good solution for your tooth.  I'm putting off my grocery shopping till tomorrow since they have a $20 off coupon starting then.

Sue, good luck with your eye appt and good cards at bridge.  To answer your question, I'm 79 today, a year behind John.  I guess it's better than the alternative!

Darlene, are you okay? And your daughters?  The pictures of the flood on TV are horrendous. Since I don't know exactly where you live other than near Austin, we'd like to hear from you.  Prayers for all those affected by this flood.

Hi to everyone.  Sharon

Happy Birthday Sharon....the flooding and rain was/is in my area...we are surrounded by rivers..some have bridges..others low water crossing  bridges that gets washed out and takes a few days for the county to fix them...I had some water damage to a bathroom...already talked to a carpenter to get it fixed...we really need some sunshine...Have a great day everyone..Darlene

A very late good afternoon, Buddies.  The volunteer picked me up in plenty of time for my ophthalmologist's appointment.  My eye exams went well and I'm good for another year unless something unusual pops up.

The volunteer and I got into a lengthy discussion about my family's life in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we spent the last 4 years of Bob's Navy career and one more so that Tim could graduate from High School there before we moved back to Alabama.  Jon was still in Junior High at the time.  The volunteer had spent some time in that part of the western U.S. and enjoyed the climate--but he was never there in the winter when we had so VERY MUCH deep snow!  I'm glad we were talking because I was at the restaurant an hour and a half before the others arrived.  I didn't want to go home and try to call someone else to pick me up.  After he left, I still had almost an hour to wait.  Believe me, try not to fall!  Not being able to drive is the PITS!

I had so-so to YUCKY cards today, but enjoyed my lunch prior to playing bridge and I always enjoy this group of Gals for bridge.

Darlene, I'm sorry about the water damage you've had.  Have the waters receded enough to start repairs.  Thoughts and prayers going up from Auburn for you and your family.

It's almost time for the 5:00 news, so I'll sign off for today.  Have a nice evening, Every Buddy.

Happy Birthday Sherry.

I took Keith to both of the pre op appointments yesterday. The Urologist is going to do the surgery robotically and said that if he  can't get  by the hernia that the surgery will be aborted and a new date set for Laser surgery. If all goes as planned he will get to come home the next day if he can FART. If he can't then when he does fart he can come home. Then we can removed the catheter a week later. He will probably have to wear Depends for awhile until he  is able to hold his urine long enough to reach the bathroom.  That shouldn't take long just until everything is properly healed. We opted for not fixing the hernia, the screen has slipped to one side and probably haas adhesion's surrounding it.

maryz

Darlene, glad your damage wasn't more severe - although any damage is bad.  Good luck with your repairs.  And I hope that's all you have.

Marilyn, I hope all goes well with Keith's surgery.  What is the surgery date?  Keep us posted/

Sue, sorry you had yucky cards - doesn't make for a fun day, even with good friends.

I played tonight with the gals here at the Terrace.  We all had some good cards, and played some fun hands.  A better night than usual.

Mary...glad the bridge games went well.

Marilyn...hope the surgery goes well.  Does K know why he’s having it?

Darlene....flooding is so nasty.  Hope you can get it taken care of quickly.

Sue...same yucky cards here on Wednesday.   ::)

Hi to Sharon, Joy, and hope GinnyAnn is doing ok.

A wet Friday morning here in corn and soybean harvest time country.

Nothing much happening.  We spent most of yesterday in Cedar Rapids, so just look forward to grocery trip and the ever-present laundry!

Jane

SCFSue

Good morning!  I've had breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen, have a load of laundry in the dryer, and am waiting for Tim to arrive for our usual trip to the library, Kroger, and lunch out.  It's cooler here today, supposed to be in the low 70's all day, so perhaps fall has arrived.

I've read all my last week's library books except for a lengthy anthology of short stories written by Louis L'Amour.  Bob, Bill, Tim, and Jon were all fans of L'Amour and I've started reading them now.  Pretty entertaining, although much different from my usual reading selections.

I'm going to ask the pharmacist about the Shingles shot--which kind he has, etc.  My good friend and physician in California recommends Shingrex which comes in 2 doses.  Have any of you had that?

Jane, I hope the farmers out there are able to harvest their crops without weather damage.  I'm afraid most of us don't appreciate farmers as much as we should!  We're having more rain than usual here and I'm sure it's been a problem for some farmers, although others are happy to get it.  I guess it depends on the crop.

Mary, I was disappointed in the cards I had, but it was a fun day anyway.  I enjoyed my lunch and my friends, so that's a plus.  Woo Hoo to you for getting good hands and having fun playing them.

Marilyn, it sounds like the hernia surgery/whatever it is could help Keith, so I hope it works out soon.  I know it must be worrisome for you.  Keep your chin up!  Prayers for healing are coming your way.  Keep up posted.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

SharonE

Darlene, so sorry to hear of your water damage. Hope you can get it fixed soon and that you don't get any more rain for a while.

Mary, hurrah for good cards and bridge game.

Jane, wherel we lived in IN was in the middle of a lot of farms and I enjoyed watching the progress of them and the harvesting.

Marilyn, I do hope they are able to do the robotic surgery and that Keith will soon be on the mend. Keep us posted.

Sue, I have read a few L'Amour books years and years ago. They were entertaining. Glad you had fun at bridge despite yucky cards.

I'm going to take John to the eye dr's soon to have him evaluated for cataract surgery. Since they have to dilate his eyes, I need to drive.  Then we'll go to the grocery.  I heard from all the kids , 2 sil's, 1 grandson and had cards or FB messages from everyone elsle!   I didn't do much as I was exhausted from earlier in the week. We'll celebrate Sat or Sun with a movie and dinner.

Hi to all.  Sharon

jane

Sue....Yes, Ray and I just finished up the second of the two Shingrix shots.  We’d had the earlier Shingles shot when it first went public and sure don’t want shingles.

Jane

Marilyn

The robotic surgery is for Keith's prostate, the are going to take some out  to make more room for the Urethra to go through so he can pee on his own.  jane Yes Keith know whay he is having the surgery. The Alzheimer's   hasn't  completely taken over, he c=gets confusts later in the day, Sundowning. He has a littlw bit confused sometimes during the day but by evening  at times I have to show him how to get where he is going in the house.

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I've had breakfast and folded some laundry I had left in the dryer overnight.  I'm still not dressed and would like to get out back to take care of some more of the many downed leaves, but it's very wet out there and may rain again.  I'll just get dressed and probably rake up one more trug of leaves, but that won't clear up the back yard.

Jane, I had a Shingles shot sometime around 2001--Bob had a repeat of his cancer about then and although he had a Shingles shot, he got shingles and was miserable during the last 6 months of his life.  His immune system was shot, I think, and he was susceptible to almost every thing a person could get while having a recurrence of cancer.  We both had Shingles shots during his recurrence.  I'm going to call the Kroger Pharmacy today to see if they have the Shingrex shots.  If so, I will try to get one Monday a.m.  I'm planning to go to the gym with my next door neighbor on Monday and I think she'll take me by Kroger afterward.

Sharon, I had my annual exam with my ophthalmologist on Thursday a.m.  He had removed my cataracts--one eye one week and the second eye the next.  He had reservations to take his wife and 2 teenage daughters to Europe the following week and wanted to get all his cataract surgeries out of the way before leaving.  For a while I was also seeing an eye specialist in Montgomery because I have a strange spot on the back of my left retina, but my doctor here talked to me about it--he thinks and I believe he is right that I was born with that.  Every eye doctor who has examined my eyes has brought it to my attention.

Marilyn, thoughts and prayers for you and Keith continue here.  I hope the surgery goes well and his confusion clears up.  Bless you for your patience!

I'd planned to rake up more leaves outside today, but it poured rain during the night and my backyard is a mess of wet (and heavy) leaves.  I did get some cleaned up yesterday and will try to rake more to take down to the leaf pile out back, but might not get much done.  I'm thinking it may rain more today and sooner rather than later.

Have a nice day, Buddies--and may your football teams win!
Sue

SharonE

The Shingrix shots are in short supply here. The mfgr supposedly will deliver by the end of the month. Both John and I got the first one and plan to get the new ones asap.

Sue, it just started raining here too, so John put his yard work off till tomorrow afternoon.

We are going to see "First Man" about Neil Armstrong at 3:00 and then to Bonefish Grill for dinner afterwards. I had to ask my neighbor if she will come over at 5:00 and put Bunny's dish through the doggy door for her dinner.  She's done this before.  It is a pain to have a dog that needs to be fed 3x a day.

John just finished putting together a metal stacking towel rack for me to put in the laundry room for rags, etc. Looks nice. If you remember, I took a small bookcase out of there, painted it and put it in my den, so needed something in its place.

Marilyn, I'm glad K still is aware of what is going on even if he does get confused later in the day. I do hope the surgery is successful and doesn't aggravate the dementia.

Today is our youngest great grand's first birthday! How time flies. I'm so looking forward to seeing all 3 greats at TG.

I had quite a surprise today, when I received a small bouquet of flowers from my grandson, Scottie & his wife. He is the one working on his Master's thesis at NYU and the grandson I am least close to.  Such a nice surprise and hopefully an attempt to renew our closeness.  A long story going back to his HS/college days.

Hi to everyone. Hope you're having a pretty fall day and enjoying it.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Sharon and Every Buddy looking in.  I've read the paper, dressed for church, and am waiting for Olyne to pick me up about 9:30.   I don't have to co-teach the 3-5 grades SS class anymore, so I enjoy going back to my own class.

We had lots more rain yesterday.  It made raking up leaves more difficult.  I put several trugs of leaves down in the pile at the end of my lot, but have much more to rake up if I want to keep my yard presentable.

Sharon, I'm glad you've heard from Scottie and his wife.  I've learned that young men who tend to be somewhat detached from parents/grandparents when in their late teens eventually come around.  It was nice that he sent the flowers and is probably an attempt to develop a better relationship.  I'll bet his wife had a hand in that, too!

It's chilly here this morning, but no frost that I could see when I stumbled out of bed at 7:00.  The sun is shining and hopefully will dry up some of the wetness that we've had following the hurricane down at the coast.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Happy sunny Sunday morning, Buddies!  It was 35*!!!! on my deck when I got up this morning (7 am), but up into the mid40s now (10:45), and breezy.  There didn't seem any frost, so that's a good thing.  Margaret came Friday and took all my potted and hanging-basket plants.  She'll winter them over in her greenhouse and bring them back next spring.  What a treat to have a personal gardner.  I do take care of the few bedding plants I have in two little planters than hang on the deck railings.  This is the kind of day that makes us love autumn, and should really get the leaves to start showing color.

I hope all your teams won yesterday (Tennessee lost bad to Alabama - as expected) and will play well and win today.
