SharonE

Thanks, Mary and Jane for the instructions. I'll try it later.

Mary, I am so sorry for your family's loss. How old was Wayne?  In some ways, that's the way to go--no suffering or long-term care-giving, but it is certainly a horrible shock, especially if he didn't have previous problems.  Sending HUGS to you all.

Jane, I haven't been nearly as good about going to the FC as I need to be. So much is going on!  And, I just realized that TG is next week. Somehow, I thought I had an extra week in there.  I've got to get on the ball to get things ready to go.  I always have lots of things to take for the kids, etc, so I need to get organized. I've also gained weight and don't have prednisone to blame.  I can't figure out why I'm gaining.

My cleaning girl was here today and I couldn't figure out when I want her to come next since I want it to be after we decorate for Christmas. That always leaves a bunch of  stuff on the floor, etc.

I am so upset!  A while ago, I looked out at my birdies, and garden and lo & behold, the deer had eaten ALL my pansy blooms. The plants are still there, but no flowers.  I guess I need to get some deer off repellent or do something to cover them at night!  What a disappointment, but the funny thing is that John and I were just talking about them being out there in the garden and very inviting to deer.  Bunny has been barking a lot when she goes out at night, but apparently, they hide till she goes back in.   Oh well, not important in the great scheme of things, but I love my flowers.

Rainy, cold and yucky here today & tomorrow.  Darlene, hope you get some good weather soon.  Sharon

jane

Sharon...the deer here will eat impatients (SP?) to the ground and our hostas, too.  I've used the deer repellent that has an awful smell when you spray it around, but it seems to sort of work.

Our birds are going crazy at the feeders.  We're at 24, but says it feels like 13 with the wind and I'm not going out.

Cold Tuesday Greetings!

I'm meeting a former co-worker for coffee today at 11:00.  She comes to town from a neighboring town for the dentist and usually wants to meet for coffee (or tea in my case.) I have some errands to run when we're finished and home to continue with the never-ending laundry.

jane

SharonE

Jane, it is unseasonably cold and wet here too.  I finished my laundry yesterday and also got all the pics printed for Brian's 50th roast at TG. Melanie is planning to put pics up everywhere he will be.

I'm still fighting some sort of urinary infection, although the dr. says it is not a true UTI, so he is going to refer me to a urologist which I thought he should have done a long time ago.   Not sure when I will be able to get in with the holidays being next week.

I'm also going to call my church friend in a minute to reschedule the daffodil planting till better weather.

I hope everyone is doing well and staying warm. According to her FB post, Marilyn says that Keith is doing much better.

My thoughts are with Mary and family during this sad time.  Sending HUGS.

Hello, Buddies. It's almost noon here and I've just returned home from my monthly women's circle meeting.  We had an interesting lesson and the leader knows her text and the content, but tends to talk too long (IMHO!).  However, she does let members who wish to comment do so and that is a good thing.  We are on old testament lessons and that's OK but some of it is tedious (again IMHO!).

Mary, I'm glad you can be with Kate during this time of grief.  I know she is glad that you can be there for her.   Thoughts and prayers for Kate, you and her family.

I ate enough goodies so I'm not going to fix anything much for lunch.  I have bridge tomorrow and also on Thursday, so this is a busy week.  I also want to make some oatmeal cookies to take to the beach next week and will go shopping as usual with Tim on Friday.  I'm going to take Jane's advice and check the shelves for the book that they think I still have out and it would be overdue if that is true.

It's chilly, still raining and altogether a miserable morning.  Just the ticket for curling up with a book!

Have a nice afternoon, Every Buddy.

Sue

SharonE

You will be busy this week!  Another place you could check is in your car as it might have slid out of the sack.

I cancelled the daffodil planting till after TG.  Thursday is dentist day for both of us in the morning, John's hearing appt at 2:00 and a hair appt for me at 3:30.  Somewhere in there, I should get groceries. Don't know when though.

I've had umpteen robocalls today.  GRRRRR!

Nothing else going on here. Sharon

Cottoncandy

Jane..did you see the recall on the B/p med Losartan.  Darlene..

jane

Darlene....Yes, but CNN says “The new recall of losartan potassium hydrochlorothiazide is sold by the company Sandoz. The voluntary recall only involves the 100 milligram/25 milligram tablets, it does not involve the other versions of the drug, sometimes sold under the brand names Hyzaar.”

I don’t take 100 mg tabs, nor 25 mg.  Mine are 50mg, and I believe yours are, too.

What I really hate is that so many of our drugs are being manufactured in China.  I simply don’t trust their quality control.

Mary...I hope you and your girls are together with Kate at this sad time.

Sue...if the book is on the shelf, it should not be considered overdue.

I met my former co-worker after her dental appt and she about talked my ears off. 🤭

We’re off to Iowa City for Ray’s appt to check his cornea transplants, etc., so I may not post tomorrow.

Jane

SCFSue

I just lost a long post I did a few minutes ago.  This doesn't happen often, but when it does it is extremely annoying.  I need to get into the shower and dress and finish my morning chores--clean up the kitchen and Maybe do another load of laundry.

Jane, thanks for the advice on checking the shelves for that book.  When I return books, the librarian on desk duty puts 2 0r 3 of them on a "thingie" that weighs them and evidently tells her if any are missing--and no one has ever told me one is missing.  I am going to check the shelves for the book which seems to be missing on Friday.

I have bridge club again today.  We're meeting at our new member's home and Terri will pick me up.  Our 99 y.o. member is back in rehab/hospital again after another fall at her home.

Mary, I'm hoping things are going well with you and your family.  I know it must be hard on all of you.  Keep us posted.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.

Hi Buddies!

I'm back home - Margaret brought me back yesterday.  I may go back after Thanksgiving and stay longer - it'll depend on what Kate thinks she needs and what I can do (probably nothing more than moral support, but I know that's important, too).  She will go to Andy & Erica's (son & dil) for T'giving Day, then come here to spend that night.  She'll take me to Margaret's Friday for our family dinner there.  She'll have decided by then whether she wants me to go home with her.  She thought all their "stuff" was in good order, but we're afraid she's going to find it's in more of a mess than she thought. It's going to be a voyage of discovery for her, and I'm afraid there are going to be some nightmares along the way.  One good thing is that she has a helluva strong posse by her side (her sisters and me). Margaret is a specially good source of advice, since she's "been there" herself.

It's definitely turned to winter here.  Today is just plain raw outside, overcast, drizzly (with lots of rain coming in by late afternoon), and temps in the low 40s.  Yuck.

jane, Kate was able to donate Wayne's corneas - so someone else will get the benefit of transplant.  He had had a low-grade temp a week or so earlier, so she was told they couldn't harvest any other tissues.

Stay warm and dry, Buddies!

SharonE

Mary, wonderful that he could give the gift of sight at least.  How old was he?  I know Kate appreciates all of you gathering around and supporting her and helping with the details.  I agree that winter has come!  I just got back from doing errands and getting my toes and nails painted, and I'm still chilled.  It is such a damp cold.  They say we could get about 4" of rain this week--or at least in Charlotte.  We usually get less.

Stay in and stay warm, everyone.  Sharon

Marilyne

I’m hoping that some of you remember a woman named Diane, who posted here in Bosom Buddies, as well as other folders in Senior Net?  I’m not sure if she ever joined Seniors and Friends or not?  Her husband’s name was Del, and she talked about him a lot, and always put his needs ahead of hers.  When she was diagnosed with BC, she put off her treatment for a long time, because she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to adequately care for Del.

They lived in the town of Paradise, CA, which has been burned to the ground, in the devastating Camp Fire.  There have ben many deaths, and about 200 people are still missing and unaccounted for.  I’m wondering if any of you stayed in touch with her, or if you remember her last name?  I was friends with her for many years, but when I switched email servers, I lost her email address, as well as her home address in Paradise.

There was a long list of the missing people today in my newspaper.  There was one woman listed named Diane Meier, age 83, which would have been her exact age.  However, I don’t think that was her last name?  I think it was a longer name, but I can’t remember?  If anyone remembers, let me know, so I can check the lists of survivors, deaths, and of those who are still missing.

Mary - I'm sorry to see your post about the sudden death of your son-in-law.

maryz

Thanks, Marilyn.  The fires in CA are incredible.  I can't begin to imagine such devastation.
I don't remember the gal you're asking about, so can't help there.  How are you and Keith doing?
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

Marilyne

Wrong Marilyn!  The Marilyn who is married to Keith, lives in Oregon.
I'm the other Marilyne, (with an e, for my last name), from California.

maryz

Sorry, Marilyne.  I obviously just never saw (or noticed) your "e"!   ::)
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Marilyne...I do recall her.  I will send you a pm with a possible last name.

Mary...so glad you and her sisters are there for Kate.  How wonderful his corneas will help others.  We sure thank those who do that.  Ray’s eyesight went from 20/300 to today with his glasses 20/25 and 20/20.  What a blessing!

Sue....  Here they scan the barcodes to check out and to check in returned books.

Sharon...the manicure and pedi sound good.

We had a long wait today at the cornea center, and Ray has a sinus infection and doesn’t feel good, so I did the driving.  I hate driving in the dark, but we’re home.

Jane

Good morning, Buddies.  Tim is coming to pick me up early this morning for library and a bit of Kroger shopping.  He is going out of town on business tomorrow.  So I have to hustle and dress.  I have bridge at 12:30 today and guess I'll just put on my clothing for that.   I don't need many things from the store,  but must pick up a few I need to take to the beach next week.

It's dark and dreary here this morning and the kind of winter day I hate!  After Tim takes me to the library and to Kroger, he'll get me home ASAP.  I don't know where he is going or if Kris will go along.  I expect he'll tell me on the way to the library.  I don't need much at Kroger, but a few things are needed for what I'll take to the beach next week.  And I have bridge at 12:30 today, so I need to get home in time to get a ride to bridge.

Mary, my sympathy and condolences for Kate and her family.  I know how hard it is to lose your beloved husband at a young age.  She is fortunate that you and her sisters are there for her.  Thoughts and prayers for you all from here in Alabama.

Jane, they scan the barcodes here, too, so I don't know how they made the goof.  I'm going to go look at the author's website and see if the book got back onto the shelf when I returned it.  Hopefully it did--I'm not looking forward to buying them a new one!  When I return books, the person collecting them usually puts them on what looks like a scale about 3 at a time.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy.
Sue

We're back from the dentist--all good.  We leave again at 1:45 to go to John's hearing appt. Then I am getting my haircut and highlights at 3:30 and then will go to the grocery afterwards or I will put it off till tomorrow AM.

Sue, you sounds busy too. Hope you find the book. Don't forget to check your car.

Marilyne, I sort of remember Diane, but have no info on her.  The fires are just awful. I can't even imagine going through it or losing someone that way.

Mary, 67 is way too young!  Such a shock for the family. I hope that TG gathering will help with all of your grief, but I'm sure it will be hard to be thankful at such a time.

Jane, glad you got home safely. I don't like to drive in the dark either.

We leave Tues for IN and our TG gathering. So lots of organizing to do first.

It is bone-chilling cold and rainy here. I'm dressed warmly and still freezing.  Sharon

SCFSue

Good morning, Buddies.  I hope you see this post as I am flummoxed by the new format.  I don't see a place to post my reply.

I will say that it is very chilly here in Auburn this morning.  I was thinking about pruning more azaleas but it will depend on how much it warms up.

When I returned my books yesterday at the library, the young lady who checked them in said that the book was on the shelf (we checked and it WAS there!) so I am OK with the library.  I did get 7 books to read during the next 2 weeks so I am happy about that.  Today, though, I'm going to make a batch of oatmeal cookies to take to the beach and will start packing, too.  Tim stopped by the post office and put in a mail hold for me.

Have a nice day, Every Buddy, and a happy weekend, too!
Sue

maryz

Well, the new format, sign-in, etc., was a surprise.  But I guess we'll get used to it.
It was BRRRR cold (27*!) when I went out this morning, and I had to scrape frost off the windshield, but it's supposed to warm up into the 60s over the weekend, with lots of sunshine.
That's lovely weather around here.  I went out to PT this morning, with the intent to pick up a Walmart order on the way home.  Of course, I totally forgot about the WM thing.  When I got home, and finally got on the computer, there was an e-mail reminding me about it.  Fortunately, I was in the "window", so back out I went to go pick up the order. How dumb!  I hate it when I do things like that. :idiot2

Nothing going on this weekend.  Kate's son & DIL and Jean are there with her this weekend, so she's got company and folks to help her go through papers, etc.  Poor baby!  I really hate all this that she's having to go through.  I just wish I could be of more help.

Hope your teams win this weekend.

We have more snow this morning, and it's just 32 so it's the wet, slushy kind.

Ray will need to go back up to Urgent Care this morning.  He's coughing so much  and needs some meds to stop this before bronchitis or pneumonia sets in.

Jane

maryz

Sorry about Ray's cough, jane.  My Jean has to deal with that, too.

Yesterday turned off gorgeous - lots of sunshine and temps around 60.  To be even better today.
I'm looking forward to a day of knitting, watching recorded TV shows, and enjoying the sunshine from my chair.

I hope the rest of the Buddies find their way into the new site.  I'm not getting "replies" from any of the other discussions I had gotten before.

Yea!  I finally got logged in.  I think I was putting my pw in wrong.  I am about ready to go visit the new mall across from Sun City.  Wild Birds Unlimited opened today and TJ Max a week ago. There are several other stores. I've visited 4 of them. Panera Bread is now open. I haven't been to Hobby Lobby or Burlingtons yet.  I slept in today because it was 4 AM before I got to sleep.

Jane, I'm so sorry Ray is ill.  Will this delay your trip to TX?  I would think he would have to get well first. Darlene is having trouble getting in and emailed me. I told her to email you.  I thought I had Bubbles email, but can't find it in my contacts.

Mary, I agree that the sun is a wondrous thing to see!  Still cold today though.

Does the • Add image to post and upload to gallery"  mean we can post pics now?

HI to all. I need to head out. Sharon

Quote from: jandate=1542036670Mary....I’m so sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing.

Darlene....I didn’t get the pm.  Please send it again.

We have light snow this morning, and I’m moving very slowly.

Sue...check the bookshelves at the Library yourself for the missing book.  Sometimes they don’t scan it right when you return something.  They should check their shelves before sending out notices, but sometimes the aides don’t like doing that and skip that step!

Sharon...I’m hoping to be as faithful as you are about working out once we get to TX and I can walk outside and use the workout room they have,  it’s much larger and nicer than the small one at the other complex where we were. This weight gain from the prednisone has me in a muddle.  My clothes don’t fit, and I’m huffing and puffing when doing stairs.

Have a good Monday, Ladies.
