Darlene...no, still have the &^%$ boot...Glad you got rain.  It looks like a monsoon hit Dallas area.  Wow.  We're to have rain Wed. and Thurs.

Maryz...you're sure right about all the paperwork for Marilyn...but necessary to get it done.

Marilyn...hope the paperwork is going ok.

I did some paperwork myself this morning...wrote those checks for house taxes and income tax estimates for fed and Iowa.  They all come due in Sept.

Now off to pick up two meds...thank heavens I can use the driveup window in the alley behind the drug store.

Good morning, Lovelies!

The weather continues to be very scary...it looks like the South is drowning in rain.  12" in one day?  Wow...that's scary.

Nothing so drastic here, thank heavens.

I'm still just sitting here with my leg propped up on an ottoman (SP?)

Take care and stay safe and healthy,

jane

Hi everyone. Melanie's CT scan showed no improvement, so she will get a different drug this Fri. So disappointed and worried.

Jocelyne finally had her baby this morning, a girl 8 lbs 3 oz, named Jolie. She was supposed to be induced at 7AM but her labor started at 1:45 AM and she delivered at 5:45! So happy for them. That's #5 great grand!

They finally set up a new office for me last Friday, so I have now finished the Sept. issue except for proofing and printing which will be done today.

Mary, we've been having temps in the low 80's but it is now creeping up to 90 for next week. Some rain. Glad you're testing negative.

Darlene, glad you got some rain.

Thank you Mary Page for your love & hope. Need both.

Marilyn, I hope you got all your paperwork done. That is such a trial. Hugs.

Jane, I hope you get rid of the boot before long. It must be difficult. Now I understand about the fridge dispenser. It must be hard doing your grocery shopping. Do you use the motorized carts? I'm sorry your SED rate is up and the meds didn't work.

Good news on my cholesterol. It was 251 and after 5 shots, it is down to 199! They want it under 200. My ldl & triglycerides are still a little high though.

Alpiner, what a mess with your sprinkling system. Hope it's all fixed now and that the animal doesn't chew on it any more.

Patricia, that is really scary about your low BP effects. I hope you use a walker for stability.

I need to go eat so that I can go to my proofing meeting at 1:30.
Stay safe everyone and have a good day. Sharon

jane

Sharon...you know we all are holding your Melanie in our LIGHT.  They have so many new drugs since I did chemo 32 years ago and it's easier on the good parts of her body.

Congrats on #5.  The name Jolie is so cute.

Yes, the "boot"...sort of like a cement block combat boot to me...is a royal pain.  No, the carts won't work for me, I don't think. Crawling in and out would be more trouble than it's worth.    I couldn't reach what I need...bad enough being short...but everything I need is always up, up, up, so I ask men or the woman with them, if I can "borrow his muscle" and get me what I need down.  It's worked so far.  Clerks are impossible to find.

Glad your office is ready finally.

Our temps are moderating...hard to believe it's the end of August.  I love the cooler temps and the coming of fall.

Covid still high here.  I haven't inquired about the new shot.  I guess I'll wait and ask my rheumatologist.

Stay safe and healthy!

jane

MaryPage

Oh Boy!  Do I ever relate to THAT!

I am a shortie, too; and have lost even more height to a crumbling spine.

It has been some years since I have been to a grocery;  since Covid started, in fact.  Son Chip does ALL of our shopping, other than stuff I buy on line.  We call it foraging, what he does, or hunter-gathering.  But for years now, when I was out shopping, I would wait until a tall person came along, and I would ask them to please reach down a can or something for me.  Seemed like EVERYthing I wanted was out of my reach!

I have Never found a single person unwilling or seem to be annoyed.  Most of us are really nice people, you know!

Tomereader1

Even had a very nice gentleman ask, "Do you want me to check the date on this for you" (the print was very tiny)?

I've even asked women who are tall to reach things for me.  They're nice too! I used to be 5 feet tall, but now it's more like 4'10".  And I have what my daughter and I refer to as "dinosaur arms" relating to the T-Rex!  Of course, if I had the physical build of a T-Rex I could just knock things off the shelves! LOL !

alpiner1

MaryPage  I'm also a shorty .  I was 5ft. 1-1/2 in.  I have shrunk to 4ft. 10-1/2 in . I also wait for a taller person to come along when I can't reach a shelf . All are very nice & helpful . Friday a young woman helped me with a quart of buttermilk .  We got to talking & she said I looked like her mother . She brought up her mother's picture on her cellphone & yes we do resemble one another !  /size]

MaryPage

I was 5'3½" in my healthier years.  5'2" and shrinking now. No other way to go.  My weight has gone back to what it was when I was 19, but there is something wrong with the way it distributes itself now.  Not the same as back then, at all, at all!

jane

MaryPage, Alpiner, Tomereader....People really are nice and kind to help us ...uh....people of a certain age...and size...who cannot reach high up things! :smitten:

We were suppose to have rain today...got all of 6 drops on the windshield.
  :uglystupid2:

My back and hips really hurt last night, and I was able to get an appt for this morning at 10:00 am with the hospital massage therapist.  I love that they have online booking, so I could get in.

Nothing else new here.  It is to cool down and I'll love that.

Stay safe and healthy.

..Good morning....I'm what is called flooded in....we had 4 inches a few days ago ..5 inches today so far and still raining...we are surrounded by rivers and all are flood def...no way in or out...we have been praying for rain...God answered our prayers in a big way...so I'm reading and watching TV...long as we have electricity...hope everyone is safe and having a great day

patricia19

CC, I've read that the west, Arizona, Texas, Utah, and Nevada are all flooding after a summer of fires. I believe we're all hoping for winter and more weather stabilization.

jane

YIKES! Darlene...good grief....STOP your rain dance.   ::)  Seriously, I hope you're safe and your family, too, and suffer no damage from all that "wet."

Patricia...hope all is ok in AK.

We were suppose to have rain, too, but I think it detoured to Darlene's part of Texas.

I haven't done much today except computer stuff, though I did go out for lunch, and brought home enough grilled chicken salad for supper, too.

Take care and stay safe,

jane

Cottoncandy

Still raining....have a safe trouble free day..

jane

Stay safe, Darlene!

For me, summer is over.  School is underway and it's Sept.  (I go by meteorological seasons.  (Sept., Oct., Nov = fall]

Nephew had to fly to Phoenix on Wed. It was 123 degrees when he got there...drought or excessive water throughout the south, extreme heat in west, etc., but "there's no global warming."  Uh Huh.   :idiot2:

I've been working on the online class I help with and catching up on my checkbook.  I also have two loads of clothes going, and was able, for the first time, to stand in the shower.  I've been using a shower chair, but it felt good to progress from that.

Nothing else new or exciting here.  Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Hi Gals. Not much new here. I did get the issue out last Friday and it was well received. I even received a lovely note from a neighbor thanking me for doing it and complimenting me on it.

I got the bulletin for church done yesterday and it has been printed.

I spent about 3 hours yesterday with 2 friends from Sun City where we moved from. They are both widows and interested in an independent living/continuing care center, so I gave them the grand tour of the grounds, my villa & my office & the clubhouse, then took them to lunch in the dining room. They seemed to like it, but this was the first look at a center for them, so they may not decide for quite a while.

Darlene, I was thinking of you when I heard about all the flooding in Austin. I hope it has gone down now and that you didn't have any damage.

I have always been relatively tall-- 5'7", but am now no more than 5'6", if that. It seems like the top shelves are getting higher and higher. However John has been doing the grocery shopping since we moved here. You are all right about people being helpful in reaching things for you. That was especially true when I was using the motorized cart when I had my knee surgery.

Just heard from Melanie that she got the pre-approval on the new drug, but they can't do the infusion till October 10. However she's on the wait list. But at least it means she will be go to the wedding and Lori's.

Not much else going on here. Take care, all of you and stay safe. Sharon

patricia19

Sharon, I was the same, 5'7" for years, and then in 2019, suddenly became 5'6".

This first day of September continues August's drizzles, only going from 50 to 63 today. No leaves turning, but it's coming.

jane

Sharon...good news on approval of new drug for Melanie.

Patricia...still pretty warm here.

Stay safe and healthy,

Hi Buddies..rain finally stopped and roads open to cross...our rivers will be beautiful again..Sharon glad of the news on Melanie....my son goes once a month now for lab  Jane hope you are also doing good....is ur boot off.Hi to all looking in....

maryz

Sharon, good news for Melanie. Enjoy all the weddings.

Darlene, glad your rain has slacked off, and hope enough of it "stuck" to help fill your reservoirs and ease your drought.

jane, I know how good it feels to start gaining movement again. Unfortunately, my movements won't be getting any better - just something to live with.

I used to be 7'5", but have no idea how much I've shrunk. When I'm asked my height at a doctor's office, I tell them "probably about 5'5". Oh, well....

It's still summer here - high on 90 today. They had a "family night" at dinner tonight, with tables set up outside, under a canopy. Not for this girl! I was perfectly happy to eat in the dining room with the a/c.

Stay cool, Buddies!
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

jane

Darlene...hurrah on the rain stopping.  No, boot still on...a few more weeks yet.

Mary...I'm with you.  Inside with AC and no bugs is my preferred way to eat, too.

Storms this morning, but it looks as if that's passed on and now we're on our way to 90, too.  UGH.

jane

SharonE

Darlene, glad the rain has stopped and water has gone down.

Mary, I'm not going to any weddings. The wedding is Sangmin's niece, so the Korean families are involved. I do know the niece but not well enough to be invited. Her dad is Sangmin's younger brother and a dentist and the daughter followed in his footsteps and has joined his practice.

I spent the day driving and shopping back near Sun City and am exhausted. I wanted to go to another couple stores but my back and legs said no, so I came home.

While I was gone, men came by and replaced our 2 big windows that were fogged up. They are doing it for all the  villas now. Whoo Hoo. They have also started the renovating at the clubhouse, so things are happening finally.

No other news here. I hope you are all well and having some cooler weather. We'll have some over Labor Day, but also rain.
Sharon

jane

Sharon...glad you were able to get out and drive to some shopping near where you used to live.  I just can't get in the mood to shop in person.  I've become an internet shopper with the Covid and gun violence.

Hurrah on the new "unfogged" windows.

It's a dreary day here.

jane

patricia19

It's nice to hear that everyone is getting out more or less new traumas.

Jane, my daughter, broke her foot at eight and kept complaining of the cast boot and itch. At a later date at the doctor's, he peeled off her heavy sock, and we discovered she had sliced off the entire cast leaving only a strip to show above the sock!

MaryPage

Wow!  What a clever girl She was!  What did she get a PhD. in?

She Must have gotten one!

jane

Patricia...Oh, that kid.  I'm glad they have this air cast that I can take off and not a plaster cast.  I saw on one of the football games a player with a cast like this one.  SO, it's quite "sporty," I guess.  Can I claim it's a "sports injury?" :2funny:

It's been a dreary day here.  I'm now going to watch the Ohio State / Notre Dame game.

jane

Happy Labor Day, Buddies!

It's a dreary day here and the leaves are changing in a tree in a neighbor's yard I can see from my chair in my fam room/sunroom.  [There are 7 windows here, plus two  outside doors.]

I have no plans for anything today...It's the end of summer, for me and the 61 degree temp reinforces that.  I enjoy the cooler weather.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

Cottoncandy

Good morning..Happy Labor Day....that's what I will be doing...laundry..clean house and Mabe pull a few weeds....my yard man is way behind due to all the rain...so at least I'm on his list...I don't do mowing...weed eat. Any more My family did their own thing this holiday....so it was a quite one for me...have a great day and rest of week

patricia19

Good morning Jane, CC and the rest following. Today is another cloudy one with a light rain earlier. It is slowly cooling down over time, and while the winter clouds are moving in, there has been no sign of autumn coloring.

I had some shopping yesterday afternoon with friends, a quick trip to pay some bills, and then home. Today will be the second of four-part maintenance, where I will spend the afternoon away and then plan my grocery list and chart what bills need to be reserved. Tomorrow, Amazon is due, and then another trip to town for another appointment.

jane

Good Morning, Buddies!
It's definitely feeling more like fall out there...and I'm glad for that.

Nothing exciting here.  I'm off for a haircut this morning.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane
