Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

So sorry about your client, Marilyn.  I'm sure she was in good hands with hospice care.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day tomorrow.

How sad, Marilyn. It will be difficult for her family here at the holidays as well.
It is nice that you are cooking and inviting a friend in.  One of my neighbors invited 3 couples including us for dinner tomorrow. None of us have family close by.  I made the dressing to take tomorrow and have simmered the giblets she gave me to make the base for the gravy. I'll make it right before we go though and reheat the dressing.

Jeanne, sorry the weather is rotten for you. Typical of the MW though.

Hi to all.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving day with friends or loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving, Dear Friends!  I hope you all have a peaceful and blessed day with family or friends.

We're here in Geneva, Il, and will go to another suburb about an hour away for dinner about noon. It appears clear this morning after a drive in of light rain, wind, and some fog.

Angelface...haven't seen a post from you lately...hope all is ok.

Good morning, Buddies.  I've had a light breakfast, read the paper--will give Tim/Kris the ads if they'd like them--showered/shampooed/dressed and have taken my morning walk. My pineapple/cream cheese jello has gelled and is ready to go when Tim picks me up at 11:30.  We're eating at Ard and Dave's.  I hope Dave feels better today.  Tim says he's not doing well.

We have a beautiful sunshiny day here.  I'd sure like some rain, though.  I still have a bit of rain in my rain barrel and will water my house plants tomorrow and my new pansies in the small flower bed next to my driveway.  Then I'm going to gear up for the Auburn/Alabama showdown up in Tuscaloosa.  I want to think we'll beat them this year--but probably not.

Have a nice Thanksgiving, especially if you are fortunate enough to have family nearby.

Love and hugs,
Sue

Storms finally over. Left a mess.  I am not leaving town and glad. My family way to far away. All have called and sticking close to their homes also. In Texas I believe the women will be heading out to the stores at 5pm today.  All or most of them are opening at that time also. I think Macy's been open all day.
I did go through all the adds in the paper. Took 2 hours to go through them. I say a couple of thing i need such as New sheets for one. Pair of Crocks which if I went today showing at $12.00. just for 4 hours. Price is $34.95 . Bet they don't have many. Just to cold and dark out. Some things I saw will still be on sale come Tuesday.  I don't Christmas shop now as my family got 2 big. Last time I did it was for 28. No longer are my Grands small and they even have children that are not babies so I don't find fun in shopping.  Santa has shown up in this town 3 times already. Saturday will be the big parade with him showing up again and they light the tree. Doing things way to early now.

MaryZ.  Julie is have a hard time keeping food down and sick tummy  when I spoke to her last night. Says the smell of food cooking makes it worse.  Did you do that.? But otherwise doing good.
She was under for a hour and half. Last year when I had surgery done (At the same time of month) I was under 3 hours and I remember going through the same sick feeling for a few days.

Jeanne, my appetite has been way down since the surgery - (this is not a bad thing for me LOL).  I sometimes have a slightly queasy feeling, and I fill up very quickly.  I hope Julie will feel better as time goes on.

Addendum - I hope Julie's doctor/hospital let her know that pain medicine is very constipating.  And, as long as she is taking some regularly, she should be taking a stool softener - or at least being aware of a potential problem.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I hate it when it is called Turkey Day rather than Thanksgiving.

I hope everyone had a good day. We got through another Thanksgiving without Doug.  :'(

John came by this morning and had coffee with us. He could use some prayers. Life is rough for him right now.

Ray went to the VFW hall for our TG meal.  They shared 2 dinners with him to bring home for us. He is worried about me. I used to be the one to cook the TG meal for my Mom and his parents. Having no daughter and Doug in heaven it would have been difficult for me to do the big meal this year. It was just Ray and me at the table. I am going to push myself to get out Christmas decorations. Ray isn't much on decorations and such, but will help me with them.

maryz

Ginny Ann - sounds like a good idea to get your meal elsewhere rather than do all the work for two.  The holidays will be hard for you, I know, but  you'll get through them.  I'm sorry John is having a rough time right now.

Margaret is on her way to pick me up - I should be back home late tomorrow.  Happy travels, Buddies!

We had a nice Thanksgiving feast without turkey.  Tim picked me up and took me to Ard and Dave's.  Kris was already there helping Ard.  Tim grilled pork, I took a pineapple gelatin salad, and I don't know who made sweet potato casserole and a corn casserole, but it was all good--and Tim made brownies for dessert.  We thought Ronnie (stationed at Ft. Benning in Columbus) and his family would be there, but they had young friends from Alaska visiting and didn't come over.

This morning I've been doing laundry and generally putzing around.  I've started a new mystery by Ridley Pearson and now that I've cleaned up after my left overs lunch, I'm going to lie down, put my feet up, and read on.

GinnyAnn, I'm glad to hear that Ray picked up your Thanksgiving meal from the FW Hall.  I hope it was yummy and you enjoyed it.  I haven't cooked a big Thanksgiving meal since Bob died--mostly shared potluck with my family here in Auburn.  Since moving up here, I've made early Christmas Eve morning brunch and may still do it this year.  I hang up stockings but am not sure about putting up my Christmas tree before Christmas Eve.  I still have my box spring stored in my utility room.  Tim did say something about putting it back on the bed now--I'm just using a mattress as he was afraid the box spring would make it too high.

Mary, have a safe trip and enjoy your Thanksgiving with your family.  Your daughters are the greatest!

I'm off to my room for a lie down and reading Ridley Pearson's Killer Summer.  I can't find the place to underline the title.  Is it just my computer today or is everybody missing that?

Have a great day, Buddies.

We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner with  my friend Ingrid here. I  did the whole traditional dinner, Sweet potatoes with marshmallows and the works. Ingrid brought the Sparkling Cider and several jars of the the tune that she canned.  for my cupboard. She left before it got dark, neither of us likes tod rive after dark as it is too hard to see.

Freckles and I and 4 other teams of furry friends visited the patients at the hospital just after they had their lunch several were asleep and there were a few that we couldn't enter their rooms due to chemo or  knee surgery, all together it took about an hour to hits all the rooms that had patients and the Psych ward.

This morning Keith's middle son and fiance took us out to breakfast, that was my chance to have my favorite breakfast of buscuits and gravy. The just left here to go back to  the boys mother's house.

This afternoon I am to pick up the patient info for another Hospice patient, I just may try to go visit todady after what happened to my last hospice patient.

jane

We had a nice Thanksgiving at Ray's sister's condo.  We came home yesterday and got busy unpacking so we could repack today.  Finishing up laundry so I can do my take-in suitcase.

Refrigerator is about cleaned out, so we'll go out for supper and for breakfast tomorrow and then be on the road south.

Weather is good, so I'm hoping that continues...it makes the drive a lot less stressful.

I'm not in the greatest mood this evening.  I watched the Auburn/Alabama game which was played in Tuscaloosa (home of the Crimson Tide) and they won handily.  Our quarterback didn't play due to injuries and the 2 subs just couldn't hack it.  They won by more than 18 points--can't remember the final total.  Sad day here.

I was planning to go to the AU women's basketball game tomorrow, but the friend who might have gone with me had been out of town and was tired when she got home this evening.  So I called 2 neighbors and one had a terrible cold and Sandra next door had just come back from Mississippi where her mother died last week--and she will have her 2 grandchildren tomorrow, so unless I can thumb a ride, I'll have  to stay home and hope it's on the radio.  I bought my usual 2 tickets for the season and have already missed 2 games and will miss this one, too.

I hope you Buddies who are traveling or planning to travel have safe trips.

Sue

JeanneP

Jane.
Sounds like you are going earlier this year.  Have a safe trip down. The roads should not be to crowded now that most back from the TG by tomorrow.

Hope we don't have a rough winter here. If we do I think I will be thinking of spending winters elsewhere.
JeanneP

maryz

jane, hope y'all have a safe trip.  We are supposed to get rain on Monday/Tuesday - real, actual rain.  So you might have to drive through some the first part of the week.

Sue, sorry your Tigers lost today - even if it wasn't unexpected.  I've missed all the Lady Mocs' home games so far - four, I think.  But our games are all on the radio, so I can listen.  My friend would be glad to take me, but I don't think I'm strong enough to tackle that yet.

I spent last night at Margaret's, getting to do my laundry as a bonus.  I helped her make the dressing for the turkey - and we did a pretty good job (if I do say so myself).  Everything was delicious today for our Thanksgiving dinner - turkey, dressing, gravy, country ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberries, macaroni & cheese, salad, potato casserole, and a host of desserts.  Plus our great family and friends - just to make it extra special.  Carol & Stephen brought me home this evening. A great Thanksgiving.

Good morning, Buddies.  I've been up at the usual time and had breakfast and my morning 3 block walk downhill and back up again.  After that I got on the phone to try to find a ride to today's AU Women's basketball game which starts at 1:00.  The person I had planned to ride with had Thanksgiving out of town with her children and didn't want to go.  I've skipped church and did talk to a couple of neighbors.  The teen I thought was old enough to drive isn't and that family had family plans, but they were on their way to church and told me they'd ask if anyone in their congregation was planning to go to the game and would ask if they could take me.  If nothing happens with that, the game will be on TV and I will be able to see it.

Hi Mary, sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving dinner with your family.  We didn't have turkey as only Tim, Kris, Ard, Dave, and I were there.  Tim cooked a pork loin, I made pineapple jello, Ard made creamed corn and a sweet potato casserole  and Tim made brownies for dessert.  We ate at Ard and Dave's house.  Dave is doing a bit better since being in the hospital 4 days last week.  I missed the turkey and dressing, but had plenty to eat and left overs to bring home.

And yes, I'm still sad about losing to the big bad Tide--but it wasn't unexpected--especially playing up there.  Our good quarterback is still on the injured list and the subs just aren't up to his standard.

So I'll probably spend the day reading.  I did take my morning walk (3 blocks down the hill and 3 back up) so the time I spend lazing around won't be too bad for me.

Happy Sunday, Every Buddy.

Good Morning Freckles and I are ready for church  and Keith is getting ready. Freckles is wearing her Christmas dress to church today.

I had a nice visit with my Hospice client. He is ambulatory and told me stories of his navy life as a young teen over a gin a few times them I prayed with him before I left. I spent a half an hour with hin. very good visit.

Sun shining here at the moment but it was raining just a little bit ago.

JeanneP

It has stormed all night here and still coming down hard.  I put off going out yesterday and planned on today. Need to do it regardless of storm.  Suppose to be in the 50s but not seeing it.  I hate days like this. I sure could find things to do inside. Closets a mess. Ironing sitting there. Time to do wood floors.

Reading and taking a nap sounds better than all that.  Need to get use to Winter being here. These are times when I wish I was still working.  Other than not having to get up early and drive through the snow and ice.

I should now go to live in a warmer state. Maybe be a snowbird. I like Illinois in the other 7 months of the year.

Marilyn

We have been having strong winds since last night, they have died down a little bit now though. I've had freckles out for a walk twice already and baked a loaf of bread. Tai Chi class is this afternoon. I also need to drop off my report on my Hospice patient  today.

Not much else is new here today.

maryz

I hope all had a good holiday weekend.  All's been quiet here - as usual.  It's been cloudy and windy today - and we have actual rain in the forecast.  None has been seen yet, though.  We didn't think we'd have any fall color because of the drought, but there has been some very nice color throughout the region.

Jeanne, sounds like you're staying busy - even with your bad weather.

Marilyn - same to you.  Tai chi is such a great exercise system - kudos to you for sticking with it.

The PT gal here came to get me this morning, and had me walking with the cane throughout the visit.  She says I walk much better with the cane than with the walker.  So I guess I'll be switching over to it.  I see the orthopedist in the morning, and hope he'll release me to drive.  I want to get back to the pool, but I know I'll have to work on increasing my stamina to much more than it is now.

I hope Sharon has gotten a not-too-distant appointment with the pain control clinic to help with her back problems.  I guess jane and Ray have started off on their trek south.

Hugs to all the Buddies!

Hi Buddies.  Tim picked me up at 11:30 for my noon appointment with the clinical psychologist who has been testing my memory skills.  When he was ready for us another woman got off the elevator and evidently had made a 30 minute appointment with her as well as  the noon appointment with me.  She was on the verge of tears, so I told Dr. that we would go eat lunch and come back.  We went to a nearby Arby's and had a sandwich and she was finished when we got back to the office.  Tim was annoyed with me, but that's nothing new.  My appointments are always at least 1 hour as he is testing me for memory.  Lots of visual tests which I view for a minute or two, then have to recall what I saw.  Not easy!

Tim stopped at my bank on the way home, so I was able to get some money for the next week or so.  Believe me when I say I can hardly wait until I can drive my car!  The brace is on my right leg and I have a car with a clutch, so I'd be using the right leg for both the brake and the accelerator as well as the left for the clutch.

I hope all have had a good day and no storms this evening.  I'm hoping for some rain, but not high winds with it.  I'm afraid that might happen tonight.

Sue

jane

Hi, Buddies....

I hope all our Southern gals escape the strong t'storms they were talking about last night on the weather.

Beautiful day for driving today...sunny and 65 degrees.  We're just south of OK City tonight so just one more large metro area to get thru....fort worth...and then on east and south toward Corpus Christi.

Take care, Every Babe!

Jane

JeanneP

Mary.  Now I was calling Julie thinking she would need cheering up some. Haven't today as she told me yesterday not feeling sick anymore. Even she and husband went to Walmarts and Home Depot. using a walker but I wonder if she got one of the thing to ride in.  But you have to use your knees in those.  I just hope she doesn't overdue. She is like that. Likes to be in charge and do everything. always been on her to let the sons do some of the heavy work around the Ranch. But never has.  Now they sent her home with some type of Machine to work out on twice a day and she goes to the Physical place 3 times a week.  I am just glad she got it done. Suppose to take the stitches out Wed. You seem to be doing well also.  Swimming would help I would think. I have never seen how they stitch them up. Are the big scares?
JeanneP

We're having some REAL RAIN!!! It's even rained really hard occasionally!  HOORAY!!

Jeanne, my scar is about 9" long, vertical over the top of the knee.  The thing she has at home is sort of like a stationary bicycle, but with just the pedals.  You sit in a regular, sturdy chair.  As you put the pedals closer to you, your knee bends more (this is the object) and, of course, it also hurts more.  I'm using mine twice a day, too.

Sue, I'm surely glad I gave up a straight shift car years ago - and one of the reasons I did was because of pain in my left knee.  That's why I hope to be able to drive after I see the doc tomorrow.  I hope you can get released soon, too.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

JeanneP

That is a long scar to go vertical. Now do they do the stitch the old way are sort of glue. One side of my face was opened up from temple . behind ear and down neck. That goodness that now they glue. Hardly shows. If done like years ago would have looked awful I would think.
Julie doesn't wear shorts or anything that a scar would show. Both she and husband have bikes and ride.  He took them the other day and got maintenance done on them. So maybe she is planning to use later. She also needs to loose some weight. Walking more should do that.
JeanneP

JeanneP

Rain has finely stopped so will now shower and head out. Have a lot of running around to do. Sure the stores not crowded now.
Amazed as the amount was spent over the past 4 days. Stores and on line. Ran into Billions according to news. 30% more than prev. years.  When they keep saying that things are bad in US for people I don't understand.  Must be a lot using the Credit card system. Maybe they are thinking that Trump is going to share his money with everyone. I think if young they should be holding back and see how things go.
JeanneP

maryz

Jeanne, the scar is healing well - there were interior stitches, but the outside was held by staples.  These were taken out at my first postop visit, 2 weeks after surgery.  I've been told to massage the area with vitamin E oil/other oil/aquaphor/etc., to minimize adhesions and to make the scar pliable and less visible.  Like your daughter, I don't wear shorts or anything like that.

We had almost 2" of rain here last night, which should have helped our local fires.  The devastation in the Great Smoky Mountain Nat'l Park and in Gatlinburg is terrible.  According to the news, at least some of the fires were started by the extremely high winds toppling trees onto power lines last night. Terrible stuff.

I saw the doctor this morning, and he has released me to drive and to return to the pool.  He's also authorized me for outpatient PT three times a week.  I'll drive myself to another doc's appointment tomorrow morning (after post/pool coffee with my friends), but I probably won't go back to the pool until next week.  My sweet son-in-law picked me up to go to the doc this morning - it was nice to have some one-on-one time with him.
"When someone you love dies, you never quite get over it.  You just learn how to go on without them. But always keep them safely tucked in your heart."

maryz

As awful as things have been around our area, it is now fairly quiet outside my door.  Since Monday, I've had over 6" of rain in my gauge - 5" last night - with lots of thunder and lightning.  There were tornadoes and fatalities just SW of us in NE Alabama; in Athens, TN, between here and Knoxville; and in Polk County, the second county east of ours on the NC/TN state line.  Plus the horrors of the awful fire in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN, Monday night.  I hope all this rain has at least put out most of the fires.  Because of all the rain, we're now having flash flood warnings.

I did get out to my doctor's appointment this morning.  I knew the swim class would be cancelled because of the lightning, so didn't see them.  Nothing like driving for the first time in two months in a steady rain - but all was okay.
